One of the reasons today's society has a tough time believing in God is because it has lost its ability to imagine the idea of transcendence, something beyond the natural world. For the skeptic nothing exists beyond the five senses. If it cannot be directly observed or tested in the lab, it does not exist. This commitment to naturalism to a great extent frustrates one's ability to discover truth, putting limits to acquiring knowledge, much less knowledge about God.
