Real Madrid’s 4–1 Victory Revealed More Than the Scoreline Could Explain

0:00Real Madrid returned to La Liga action with a convincing 4-1 victory over Rio Vallecaño at the Santiago Bernabéu. The final score suggests a very comfortable evening for Real Madrid, and for the opening half, it absolutely was. Real Madrid played with speed, with purpose, as well as a ruthless edge that Rio simply was unable to contain. However, the second half delivered a warning. Real Madrid lost some of their intensity and they became careless in possession which allowed Rio to establish themselves inside the game. 1:04Jan Dio Monde made his first star for Real Madrid and he operated from the right, with Vinicius Jr attacking from the left and killing Ibope leading the line. Jude Bellingham played behind Ibope while Federico Valverde and Bernardo Silva provided the midfield some foundation. Alvaro Carreras and Dental Dumpfri started as the fullbacks with Antonio Rudriger and Ibrahim Acunate simply protecting their goalie which would be Tbilco-toa. From the beginning of the game, Real Madrid intended to stretch Rio across the entire width of the pitch. Vinicius and Dio Monde remained aggressive on the outside. Jude Bellingham searched for space through the middle and Ibope constantly threatened the area behind Rio's defenders. Rio were not completely passive. They attempted to attack down the right side and showed that they were willing to test Tbilco-toa from a distance. However, once Real Madrid settled into rhythm, the difference in attacking quality became obvious. And the breakthrough arrived in the 14th minute.

2:06Alvaro Carreras entered the penalty area and was brought down. The referee awarded the penalty and killing Ibope stepped up and he converted it and he did it calmly. It was an important opening goal because it forced Rio to reconsider the entire approach. They could no longer create solely on staying compact. They had to become more adventurous and that created additional space for Real Madrid's attack. Only three minutes later, Real Madrid was able to strike again. Rio lost possession in a very dangerous area. Vinicius Jr. helped Real Madrid recover the ball. Carreras exchanged passes with Ibope and a fullback completed the move with a very composed and brilliant finish. Carreras deserves considerable credit for this play because he simply did not provide the width and defensive support. He attacked the penalty area with conviction. Let me say that again. Carreras did not simply provide width and defensive support. He attacked the penalty area and he did it with such conviction.

3:06Earlier, he won the penalty for the opening goal and then he scored the second goal himself. His forward movement gave Rio another problem that they were unable to solve. Whatever Rio focused on Vinicius Jr. Carreras could advance around him. And whenever they attempted to track the fullback, Vinicius Jr. received more room to operate. Real Madrid's third goal arrived in the 34th minute and it was another example of the attacking balance. Vinicius Jr. accelerated down the left and delivered the ball towards Jude Bellingham who arrived near the edge of the penalty area. Even guided his finish into the bottom corner without over complicating the opportunity. That is one of Bellingham's greatest qualities ladies and gentlemen. Jude Bellingham understands what he needs to arrive. He does not always need to dominate the ball. Jude Bellingham, as we know, is able to influence the match through intelligent positioning as well as late movement and composure in decisive areas. Real Madrid, at this point, were three goals ahead and they had reached that position

4:09through three different attacking routes. And Bob A had provided the penalty by converting it, Carreras attacked from fullback and was able to score brilliantly, and Jude Bellingham arrived from midfield and Vinicius Jr. created danger from the wing. Their variety made Real Madrid very difficult to defend. Now killing that Bob A nearly added another goal before halftime but his attempt apparently struck the post. At the opposite end, a player by name of André Ratziu forced Ebookultois into a very important save with an effort from the distance. Real Madrid entered halftime with complete control of the score but the second half was very very different. Reo emerged with greater aggression and immediately began further forward. Pedro Diaz struck the post from distance offering Real Madrid an early warning and that warning unfortunately was not taken seriously enough. In the 51st minute, Real Madrid surrendered possession and they did it so cheaply.

5:09Sergio Camayo collected the opportunity and drove his finish through Ibrahimov Kunate's legs and into the corner and the goal did not place Real Madrid's victory in immediate danger but it did in fact change the emotional direction of the match. Reo suddenly believed that another goal could make Bernabé uncomfortable. They began spending longer periods inside Madrid's half while the home side struggled to reproduce the pressing and concentration of the opening 45 minutes of the game. The difference was not merely tactical and I would honestly say it appeared to be more physical and mental. Real Madrid had played an intense Champions League match against Inter Milan just a few days earlier. The movement became slower, the pressure became less coordinated and their passing out from the defense became increasingly careless. Let me say that again. Their passing out from defense became increasingly careless. So Real Madrid all of a sudden began to well, they began to underestimate and Real Madrid

6:11has made that mistake many many times and underestimating a team a lot of times has well, it has cost Real Madrid. Maurinio as we know was visibly unhappy on the touch line and sections of the Santiago Bernabé, the sections of the crowd began to express their frustration because again, Real Madrid all of a sudden started to take this game less seriously and again that proves to be quite costly at times. I mean, if Real Madrid did this in Champions League competition then Lord knows what would happen. So this is where the final score requires a bit of context. Real Madrid won the game 4-1 but they did not control the entire match like a team that won by three goals. Reo were competitive during the second half and a forced Tbilco to remain alert. Tbilco to once again provided security when Real Madrid's control began to get weak. Tbilco to a saves prevented Reo from scoring the second goal that could have created genuine tension and genuine problems for Real Madrid.

7:13Now Jose Maurinio also used the bench to restore some stability. Arda Gouler entered and he gave Real Madrid greater calm with the ball. His positioning as we know helped connect the midfield with the attack and Arda Gouler's technical quality allowed Real Madrid to escape some of Reo's pressure. Denzel Dumfries nearly restored the three goal advantage after meeting a delivery from Arda Gouler but a player by name of Emil Adero produced a very good save. And that moment demonstrated that Real Madrid remained dangerous even when they were not controlling the game. With the speed and individual ability available to Jose Maurinio, one transition can honestly punished Reo ruthlessly. And the fourth goal did in fact arrive during stoppage time. Reo committed players forward, Real Madrid broke quickly and Arda Gouler released Killian a Boppe and Boppe completed the counterattack with a very, very amazing finish. It was in Boppe's second goal of the day.

8:15And a perfect conclusion to another decisive individual performance. Killian and Boppe's influence went beyond his two goals. He participated in the move for Carrera's goal, stretched Reo's defensive line and remained a constant threat whenever Real Madrid entered the open space. Dio Monde also deserves recognition. A first start at the Santiago Bernabéu carries such enormous pressure, particularly for a young player joining an attack that is filled with established stars. He looked willing to receive the ball. He looked willing to confront defenders and most of all, Dio Monde was willing to accept a heavy responsibility. He was motivated. He was driven. He was well, I can honestly say, he was absolutely determined. Now there are still tactical details for him to learn. Valenio acknowledged after the game that obviously Dio Monde has a lot to learn, but progress is being made. But his pace, his confidence and one-on-one ability give Real Madrid another exciting

9:17attacking option. Vinicius also delivered a very interesting performance. Now he did not score, but he created Bellingham's goal and played an important part in Madrid's opening half. Jose Mourinho has emphasized Vinicius' Jr's improved physical condition and growing maturity, and these were signs and at well, and there were signs of both in this game from Vinicius Jr. However, Real Madrid's collective second half decline cannot be ignored. It just can't. Because when the intensity disappeared, the spacing became less secure, the midfield struggled to control Real's advances, the pressing became disconnected and avoidable mistakes invited pressure. Against Real, Tbilco-Tua and a three-goal half-time advantage offered sufficient protection for Real Madrid. Against a stronger opponent, the same drop in concentration could be punished far more severely. And that's exactly what I said earlier. If this had been in a Champions League match against a heavyweight opponent, well, Real Madrid

10:17Real likely would have suffered a humiliating loss. For RIO, Viacano, the result was heavy, but the performance was not entirely without any encouragement. Their opening half was damaged by individual errors and Madrid's efficiency. Well, when Real can concede to the penalty, well, the conceding of the penalty, well, it was really a very bad way to go for Real Viacano. Let me just say that. And once Real fell behind, they had to take risks against one of the most dangerous attacking teams of Europe. But Real refused to simply disappear. They attacked with courage after half-time. Played by the name of Camillo took his goal very confidently, and they forced Real Madrid to defend for meaningful stretches. The problem was that they could not convert that pressure into another goal before Real Madrid regain control. So the main lesson for RIO is simple.

11:18Bravery cannot compensate for avoidable mistakes at Santiago Burabal. Against Real Madrid mistakes, near your own penalty area, can become goals rather fast. For Jose Moreno, the performance delivered both reassurance and material for correction. The reassurance came from Real Madrid's attacking depth. And Bapé scored twice, Careeras contributed at both ends, Bellingham found the net, and Vinicius Jr. created. Dio Monde gained some very valuable experience, Art Agulair entered the game, and he influenced the match. The concern, however, came from the contrast between the two halves. Real Madrid demonstrated that what they can become when their movement is sharp and their concentration is complete. But they also demonstrated how vulnerable they can look when their energy and discipline all of a sudden decline. The 4-to-1 win moves Real Madrid forward after the disappointment against Real Betis, and builds upon the Champions League win over Inter Milan. Now this was not simply about collecting another win.

12:21It was simply about responding, and Real Madrid responded with goals, attacking variety, and quality to overcome an uneven second half. So Real Madrid deserved the win, and they produced an excellent opening 45 minutes. And Bapé was decisive, Careeras was influential, Bellingham was smart, Vinicius Jr. created danger, Art Agulair changed the rhythm from the bench. Real deserves credit for their second half response, but the damage at that point had already been done. Real Madrid left the Santiago Bernabéu with four goals, three points, and another reminder of their extraordinary attacking potential. However, Jose Mordinho will know that if his team wants to dominate both Spain and Europe, the standard shown during the first half must eventually become the standard for the entire match. In other words, Real Madrid needs to look sharp, they need to look focused, they need to look motivated, and they need to continue to maintain a winning mindset, not only for the first 45 minutes of the game, but for the entire 90 minutes of the game, period.
