Reacting to an INSANE NHL Trade Deadline

Uh, trades come in after though trades come in after. So we got comments open because I want grifts of fire something out if anything comes through. So Sidney cross me the ads for Connor McGay, he and Mark Moser. Well, keepers doing play by play in the, uh, seven year old boys. I can't wait to hear if this crowd can get loud. 12:22that? Yeah. I mean, it's, I don't think it's a secret at this point. Sounds like deal in place for Nozum Codry and ownership in Calgary next it. That's what's being reported from everything that I'm hearing within our world orbit. That is accurate is is what I would say abs were in on Codry had something in place and it ended up getting next by ownership. I think it would have been an awesome trade to have Noz back, not only on the ice, but what that would have done to the room. Every guy in that room that played with Nozum Codry, I played with Nozum Codry in Toronto. He was young at the time, but everybody loved him and he was, and you could see he was going to be just an awesome player and every guy that in that room that played with him in Colorado would have friggin loved for him to come back. The way I feel about it is like if you went to a big litter of puppies and you had the

I don't know, I'm blown away. I'm blown away for the guys on the team, for what do you bring on the ice, but also to the room. Even though he's not going to play tonight in Dallas, that room had to have lit up like a Christmas tree and, I mean, it's, I don't even know. And the fact that it happened when it did, like it didn't give any other team's time to

14:27answer, I don't know, Riker. I feel like from the day Noz left, he's been trying to get replaced and Brock Nelson was able to do that. So now we have Noz coming back, is that third line center, is he going to play wing on the second line? I don't know. But the energy that this guy brings back plays a little bit of wings, too. I think you can always move a center into the wing. Just the energy, this gives the fan base. The team has the same Mojo with Noz coming back. We have the best forward unit in the NHL by a country mile, it's insane. Well, and think about this, too, because we got off our podcast. We were saying, God, thank God Dallas didn't get Noz or thank God, many didn't get a trophy. Remember how that, how deflating that would have felt. And then we planned Cadre, and I guarantee you, to the rest of the NHL, it's like, my God Colorado did it again. Well, think about last year's deadline, how excited we were. Yes, they as didn't win, but we were super excited.

15:28I would say this one feels even more exciting and it feels like Pierre Laquois. We said it last year, this feels like a Pierre Laquois deadline again. I mean, it's, now you still got to go out and perform, you still got to do it. The remainder of the season and into playoffs, but management did its job. Now it's up to the players. And there's no style, Johnny, it's done to me. We didn't know, we didn't know what the return was going to be. Honestly, I thought, oh, God, they're going to lose a couple of big players. They're going to lose a ton of picks. What's the, retaining going to be like, love Victor Olipsen and the picks, but the return that you get on Catery is it's unreal. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And this is a proven playoff performer, a guy that loves playing for the abs and every guy in that room loves cadre and to, to give up what they gave up. Yes, I mean, listen, there's, you can, you can debate picks all you want, but this

19:39Jerry Bednar and Seema. Seema wasn't on the plane, but I will tell you when he, when he finally made it back to the seat, he brought the scent with him. Let me tell you, I had a three hour window. I go, there's no way it's not going to happen. I got to turn the sundown. So I went up to the front of the plane now. If you've ever no way, if you've ever taken a douche on a plane, like you can barely fit on the toilet seat, let alone. I was choking when I said that and you did it. I was my first time and any sort of turbulence. When you're sitting on that toilet on that plane, it's, I mean, did you sit in there for an extra 20 minutes, just like trying to, like, superspeed, you tried to mask it as a, as a number one. When you're going number two laid to pad, I had everything set lay perfect. Yeah, that's how it did make hold on. We're not done with this. It did make my life better. It was worth it, Johnny.

Oh, John, I think Drew and a 2026 first round pick from Colorado, which was another deal and a third. And Marcus Gidlow. So Drew and going back to St. Louis, but that's a lot for Braden Shen, a first round pick, two players and a third round pick. You said back to St. Louis. I don't, or I mean, direction. I don't think for the abs, it was underwhelming because in the end, you go back to, was it the 23 Bruins that ran the table all year?

22:43And then did a bunch of the deadline and it almost like messed up chemistry a little bit. Yeah. It's such a fine line on it all. It is, it is like, remember the year the as brought in the old flurry? And that was going to be like steamroll to the Stanley Cup. Yeah. I think they lose out second round, maybe in the Mojo just never hit. Same thing with Salani in Korea. Like that didn't turn out the way that I was, that was my rookie year. Well, and like, at the deadline, we didn't made a bunch of moves. We, you know, we traded Derek Morris, which, you know, and this is not, like, ripping on, uh, what they did. It was more like there was, there was a bunch of moves that happened. And it was, I mean, Paul Korea got hurt last game of the regular season. He got, he was playing on, he was playing on, he killed. No, he, it was a high ankle sprain. He rolled over. Well, who almost killed him? No. A middle of the ice was it, was it Scott Stevens? Yeah, that was like, that was like 90s. Like the night, what was that? He first blurring lines here. Hmm. Yeah, he was with Anaheim and Scott Stevens murdered him six seconds after he released the puck.

23:45And he was out cold and then he scored the game winner later in the game. Yeah, he did. Maybe not game winner, but he scored later in the game. What do I take your head at me? You said a lot of dumb things in your life. You just blended 10 years together. Oh, he got murdered back in your last game. It was even, it wasn't even he wasn't playing again. Abs when he got murdered. It's trade deadlock. You mixed up your deck. He's a lot going on. It's a big, big blend key for. I give you a lot of leeway. You jumped 10 years back. No, Connor Garland signed a six year extension and then got traded. Yeah, here's the one I want to talk about. Couple of Buffalo trades. They go to win a peg and get the two biggest demon in the history of the NHL Logan Stanley and Luke Shen from the Jets.

24:47They, they got, they got better. They definitely got better. They got, uh, they get Sam Carrick from the Rangers too. Who are really the other one played with him, um, tough, good, reliable player. Uh, Luke Shen, I believe is on team number 10. Yeah, at this point, I think he, I mean, he's looking at 40 hard. Yeah, team number 10 played with Jenny when he was young in Toronto. And what's the record? Is it Mike Sylinger 12 NHL teams? Yes. Uh, I believe that's accurate. Yeah. I think it's traded 10 times was on 12 different teams. Give it a take. Yeah. Yeah. Both records. So yeah, this is, um, we're 20 minutes past the deadline. Trades do come rolling in. It just has to get to the NHL offices by the deadline. As I understand it. Um, I think it traded post deadline one time.

25:47Yeah, tell us about that. Give us the post deadline, Johnny Lowell story. You know what? It was like 10 years ago. Good God. Hey, look, you can't let it go. And here we go. Oh my God. If you're just going down to 10 years, then it should be, then it should be fresh in your mind, Kiefer, because you just told a Paul Korea story that was 10 years out of date. Oh, God. 26:49And Ron Francis looks at me and he goes, Johnny, can I talk to you in the hallway? Oh, no, I've heard that story. But he gets better every time I told it before. Um, and I was like, yeah, walk out and he goes, Hey, we traded you the Bruins. Um, they're on your list. Uh, appreciate everything you've done. I was like, all thanks, you know, like, um, and, uh, all of a sudden my phone starts ringing because now it's broken. We're 10, 15 minutes past the deadline. So it's, you know, like all these, whatever, TSN, all these things, ringing on my phone. And I walk back in and whizzes like, what happened? I was like, they traded me the Bruins. He's like, oh, my God. I'm so sorry, man. Hey, what was the conversation package for Johnny Liles back then? A third and a fifth, I believe. Ooh, yeah, not quite, not quite the Johnny Liles earlier career second rounder from the Leafs to the, uh, the ads. That was tell what was that one? That was that trade. Give me that trade. That was like right before the draft in the summer. So I got traded right before the draft from Colorado to Toronto.

27:54We all know the winner in a classic classic and at the deadline. So I have the unique experience of being traded three different times during the season. Okay. I have a trade story. Can I tell it? Yeah, I was only traded one time. It was an American league deal. Heavy duty. That's what Chris McFarland was the GM for the Columbus Blue Jaguars. So I got traded for Pascal Dupuis and another player I can't think of. And we played. Yeah. Who was it? Doops. Yes. He played for Colorado. Doops. I played with him in Colorado, Antironnell. So I got traded to, you know, American league deal from Lake Erie to Syracuse. We played Syracuse that night. Got traded at around three o'clock. Literally went into the locker room, packed all my stuff in my Syracuse bag. Walked across the hall, played for Syracuse that night in Lake Erie. Join the team for the next three months.

28:54Then I lived in Pascal Dupuisos. He lived in mine. So we just really got it. Yeah. It's unbelievable. The member of the night, the Cody McCloud got traded to the National Predators. And we played the Preds that night and Cody just moved to the other locker room. And then he almost had a Gordy Howe hat trick. He had a goal his first shift and then fought again. And he almost almost had the Gordy Howe. There's some wild trade stars. Isn't there the timing of it all? Moving on, a really big one. Anaheim gets John Carlson. They give up a first and a third late night. Trade last night. Yeah. And it like it rattled the Washington players. Like Carlson's been there a long time. Want to cup like like OV was choked this morning. Tom Wilson was choked. But what I will say it's interesting with Washington is they're right there.

29:56But you know, like they're kind of on the the bubble of, you know, like, are we, I don't know if you're content, but they're right there on the bubble. Like of the playoffs. And what and what did they do? They went out and they traded players and got like decent return. So that, you know, like OV's getting to that point. Like there's some guys getting that point. And now all of a sudden, it's like you're, you're kind of stockpiling some draft picks. Cudger on the bubble. You're not like one of the front runners, right? So in like super interesting move. Same thing with the, the, um, the Nick Dowd trade. The thing I'm most glad about is that Bibrofsky didn't get moved to Edmonton. That was the one I was really scared about. Oh, I didn't know that was even an end lay. And, and Codry doesn't go to Dallas. Yes. Right. And Churchill doesn't go to many exactly, right? Like, like, listen, Dallas made good moves and they're a really, really good team. And, but what I would say is, like it's kind of nice that they didn't get Codry and that's Minnesota didn't get

31:01Trollcheck because there's rumors everywhere and yeah. Hey, you know what there, you know what Dallas's head coach said this morning that was pretty interesting. He goes, uh, this is the fastest team in the NHL by a long shot. And we've had this circle since the last time we played them, we've spent the last five months trying to get as good as them. And tonight we are going to make their live miserable by trying to slow them down and play physical. And I was like, okay. So, all right. Yeah. You know, uh, yeah, it's, yeah. Good luck. That's good luck. But the after the litmus test point tonight's game. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I was winning tonight. We got an eight point cushion with a game tonight. It's all right. Just one. You lose tonight. You're in the mud. Like tonight is the first real game of consequence of this season. Well, the few of you as you see. Yeah. What's the point? You see him again in 12 days. Yeah.
