Ray McAdam Chosen by Fine Gael for Dublin Central By-Election

0:00On March 23rd, Fine Gail has picked Dublin's Lord Mayor, Ray McAdam, to run in the Dublin Central by election. The party hopes to keep the seat that opened up after former minister Pascal Donahoe stepped down late last year. McAdam has served as a Fine Gail councillor in the North inner city since 2009. He led the polls in his area during the 2024 local elections and was the top choice at the party's selection meeting this evening. Donahoe resigned in November to join the World Bank in the United States, leaving a vacancy in a key urban constituency. McAdam shared that after 17 years of local service, he's eager to deliver the same energy to national parliament. The by-election is set for late May, running alongside one in Galway West. Candidates already in the race include independent Jerry the Monk Hutch, Sin Fines, Janice Boylan, and several others from smaller parties. Vienna Fail plans to name his contender next Monday, with councillor John Stevens as the only nominee so far.
