The Seattle Seahawks traded why receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints before the deadline last season. The 27-year-old proved valuable on special teams and shipped in offensively at times. But now, he's heading to free agency after talks for a contract extension fell apart. Reports say the two sides were nowhere close on a new deal. According to sources, Shaheed plans to test the open market starting Monday. This four-year veteran played in 18 games total, nine with the Saints before the trade and nine after joining Seattle. His receiving stats included 59 catches for 687 yards and two touchdowns. Shaheed really stood out as a return specialist for the Seahawks. He had 23 punditurns for 339 yards and one touchdown, along with 15 kickoff returns for 400, 47 yards and another score. Looking ahead, teams needing a boost in the return game could come calling for the
former undrafted player. Still, he might push for pay that reflects his receiver skills, too. Special thanks to our sponsor for supporting this episode. Podcasts had different when the sound comes from your pillow. Once you try it, it just makes sense.
