Rare Pooh Sketches Unveiled: A Glimpse into Shepard's World

0:00On April 16, two never-before-seen pencil sketches of Winnie the Pooh just surfaced, drawn by EH Shepherd way back at the start of creating the 1926 book. Shepherds family shared them to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this classic kid story. These early drawings got scrapped before the final version, but captured Pooh before he hit the pages for millions of readers. One sketch shows Pooh, Christopher Robin, Piglet and Owl, climbing cautiously up a stream during their big expedition to the North Pole in chapter 8. The other is a quick study of Pooh and Piglet hunting, a whosel in chapter 3. Scenes fans know well from the text, but never saw illustrated back. Then experts are buzzing about these finds, calling them a rare peek into Shepherd's creative spark. They highlight his skill at showing movement and character right on the page, like first thoughts jumping to life in pencil. Most of his prelim work went to a museum years ago, making these stand out even more.
