Rangers' Defensemen: Legacy of Greatness

Among the all-time greats are Brian Leach, often called the best American-born defenseman, Brad Park, Harry Howe, Ron Greshner, and Sergei Zubov. These players combine skill, toughness, and leadership to help the team thrive over decades. Leach led the way with 981 points and 1,129 games for the Rangers. He earned two Norris trophies as the league's top defenseman, the cons-Smith as playoff MVP during the 1994 Stanley Cup win and the Calder as rookie of the year. Park was right behind, finishing second to Bobby Orr for the Norris six times and posting a plus 363 rating over his career. Zubov, meanwhile, topped a Ranger defenseman with 89 points and 78 games during the 1993-94 season and added 19 points in the Cup playoffs. He later won another title with Dallas and entered the Hall of Fame in 2019. The Star Wars shaped the Rangers' identity, with four in the hockey hall of fame and lasting records still standing today.
