Rams Sign Jaylen Watson, Strengthening Secondary

On March 11th, the Los Angeles Rams have signed former Kansas City Chiefs Cornerback Jalen

Watson to a three-year deal in free agency.

This move reunites him with his longtime running mate from Kansas City, Trent McDuffy, bolstering

the Rams secondary.

Watson's college journey started close to home at Ventura College, just outside Los Angeles,

where he racked up eight interceptions over two years and 23 games.

He then earned a scholarship to Washington State for his final two seasons.

After junior college, Watson faced a setback when he couldn't transfer to USC due to academic

issues, so he moved back home and worked at Wendy's with.

His mom to make ends meet, that grit helped shape him, much like some other NFL players

who've overcome tough paths.

As a seventh round pick by the Chiefs, selected 243rd overall in 2022, Watson quickly proved

his worth.

He started six games as a rookie and has been a starter in all 21 regular season games

since 2024.

In 2025, he had a breakout year with two interceptions and top tier coverage stats, including

the 10th lowest pass rating allowed, when targeted.

His tight coverage forces quarterbacks into tough spots, ranking him among the league's

elite.
