This deal keeps the 33-year-old on the roster after he hit free agency and even thought about retiring this off-season. A few key Rams players face similar decisions, including quarterback Matthew Stafford and offensive tackle Rob Havenstein. Havenstein stepped away for good, but Stafford confirmed he'll be back after winning the most valuable player award last season. Now Higby stands as the longest-serving player on the team, drafted in the fourth round out of Western Kentucky back in 2016. He spent all 10 of his pro seasons in Los Angeles, and coach Sean McVey has praised him as a true cornerstone for the franchise. Higby holds the team's all-time records for a tight end in receiving yards, though injuries slowed him down recently. He missed seven games last year with an ankle issue and sat out most of the prior season after an ACL tear in the playoffs. With his experience in leadership locked in, Higby gives the Rams a steady hand as they push for a Super Bowl run in 2026.
