Raiders Land Cousins, Rams Seek Backup

They're eyeing a first overall pick on Fernando Mendoza in this year's NFL Draft, so Cousins feels that gap right now. Head coach Clint Kubiak dropped hints at the NFL owner's meetings this week that Cousins could roll into the season as the starter. That move makes sense with their rebuild plans kicking off. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams had their eyes on Cousins, too, as a backup plan for Matthew Stafford. General manager LesNeed and coach Sean McVey both confirm interest during those same meetings. Now the Rams are left with Jimmy Garoppolo, who's been there the last two seasons and Stetson Bennett heading into year four. No other arms on the roster yet. Garoppolo might push for a reunion, but if he hunts starting spots elsewhere, his price could climb fast. The QB market stays wide open as team shuffle their decks.
