Race to rescue 933 workers trapped in Nepal flood disaster

A catastrophic flood disaster in Nepal and Tibet has left nearly 3,000 people missing, including 933 workers trapped in hydropower station tunnels. Rescue specialist Arnold Dix is coordinating remote assistance to locate survivors in underground facilities, with teams drilling from above whilst facing extreme challenges including 10-metre boulders, hardened mud, and floodwaters that travelled at nearly 200 kilometres per hour. The disaster has destroyed 14-15 hydropower stations, with rescue efforts hampered by difficult terrain requiring all equipment to be helicoptered in with a three-tonne weight limit.
