Today, I have some stories for you from the ProRevenge subreddit.
Before we start today, I just want to thank each and every one of you for being here, and being part of the Karma Stories community. Each and every one of you listening on YouTube, or Spotify, or Apple Podcast, or anywhere else for that matter, we couldn't do this without you, so pat yourself on the back. I appreciate each and every single one of you. So does my family, and that's about all I have to say for right now. All right, let's jump into today's stories that are some pretty wild ones. It's time. Let's do it. This story comes to us from Astakask. I used the atrix to spite my bully. He was pretty dramatic about the whole thing. Prelude. When I was a young man of just 18, I got a job in the Canadian oil patch. It was my first real job. It was the early 2000s, and this paid $20 an hour with no experience or education required. Minimum wage was sub six dollars. It was called well-testing. Basically, you hook up a closed pressure tank and flare stack to new oil and gas wells, then flow them, and gather data for the oil barons.
It's hard work setting up and tearing down, but the rest is recording gauges and computer work. Not bad for a first job, except for Effing Gary. You work two man 12 hour or four man 24 hour crews, one laborer and one supervisor per shift. I was paired with a mean-spirited alcoholic in his mid-50s named Gary. He was overweight and lazy, only helping with things too heavy to lift on my own, like 250 pound pipes. He spent his days in the trailer for the most part anyway, watching DVDs, napping, and hourly typing a bit of data into a PC. He also liked picking on me with jokes that were mostly insults. I'm not a small man, about six foot one in heels. He was noticeably smaller, yet while not physically intimidated, back then I lacked confidence and have a baby phase. I got called stupid a lot. When he found out I had never used a power drill, he asked me, didn't your dad teach you anything? I made the error of telling him my dad was only in my life
a handful of years. The next time I made a mistake, he quipped, no wonder my dad walked out on me. I did call him out on that, but like every other butthole alive he'd tell me, I couldn't take a joke. We always worked far out of town in the country. I often had to eat dinner with him in a small town restaurant. Mostly bars if we could help it. He drank a lot, could actually be personable when not at work and he was at least too deep. He didn't stop and drank every night. It quickly became the case that I drove us to work in his truck. He made $1 or $1.10 per kilometer and we could drive 100 to 350 kilometers per day every day for weeks. 100 miles is 160 kilometers FYI. I got minimum wage for travel time. He was hungover most mornings, didn't want to drive and told me he was boss. He slept like a gin bloated corpse until we got to work. I worked with him for three months, three months of demeaning treatment.
I don't react much. It's still true everyone has their breaking point. I was very used to it by then. Long story? I just get silent. I also needed the job. I don't do anything until I do and I don't do nothing forever. Part 1. The Power of Love The first step in my quest for vengeance was remembering that it's impossible to defeat evil with the power of love. Part 2. The Power of Terror One night while we were out of town on a job during dinner, I mentioned to Gary it's pretty lame he sleeps most of the time while I drive his truck and he gets paid. Maybe he ought to kick a few bucks my way for the effort. He didn't like my suggesting he be generous. The last hinge must have crumbled because he came unglued. More verbal problems and I was young. It actually reduced me to angry tears. When he threatened my job, it was a bad feeling. So I resolved to at least get away from him. I'd been taking notes because I wanted a different crew anyway.
My breaking point was achieved. This is usually when my instinct for self-preservation diminishes and impulsive thoughts have fewer safeguards. I wanted to go home, not revenge but serendipity delivered the next morning. Gary was once again in his travel coma and I drove us to work. About 30 kilometers from the site, side of the highway on a pull-out was a semi-truck. Luckily to also have it, it was running and trucker was outside his rig. I'd quickly formulated a plan. Gary always needed to be woken with intent so he didn't stir when I stopped, got out and asked the friendly driver for a favor. Trucker man agreed to my terms, got back into his semi to await the signal. Gary, blissfully sleeping off the last of his nightly whiskey, also failed to notice when I maneuvered his truck. Parking it, we were nearly bumper to bumper, facing the big beautiful Peter build. I lit the beacon. The trucker of Rohan entered with their own headlights, like the horn of Helm Hammerhand sounding in the deep the trucker hit his
air horn with amazing commitment to instilling fear. I did my part by honking Gary's truck in respite and screaming my butt off. I cried bloody murder at blast level and yelled, F, we're gonna die. Striking like a battalion of bombers singing a chorus of fire, the glorious cacophony lasted less than a minute. When it hit him, Gary dented the ceiling. Good thing he's thick as cement or that might have hurt. He rocketed up with such force because the amount of crap he rapidly expelled into his pants kept him in debt to his own bowels until retirement. The wonderful sound of his anguished howls segwayed quickly into apoplexy and rage. While coming to terms with what I had done, he couldn't correctly choke out his death threats. I reversed, peeled off before he decided to get out and made good and gave the trucker a wave. I got about 10 meters down the road when Gary felt the need to tell me he had dangerously high blood pressure and I could have killed him with a stroke. About four years later, I went to
paramedic school, so yes, in hindsight, I agree with his assessment. Sucks for him at 18, I had legitimately no idea what a stroke was. What would I even do? Probably ignore him like they did with Stalin. I think he was just extra hungover or being lazier than usual by pretending half his body was paralyzed. Dead. I started laughing and told him he should probably calm down then. I said, can't you take a joke? He kept making incomplete threats and I just couldn't stop laughing. Making even funnier that he wouldn't shut up. Don't feed it, Gary. I love ugly laughing at angry people. I was a hyena. He was fighting the urge to kill me and the desire to not stroke out simultaneously. The struggle was real. It took about 20 minutes more to get to sight. That dance continued the whole time. I even asked him if that was his normal shade of red. Arriving, he ordered me to get out, said I was fired, then stomped off to go call the company owner. A, whatever,
I had intermittent chuckles and smoke cigarettes while savoring my fiery victory for the four hours it took for the company owner to come pick me up. It was a medium-sized business, about 100 employees. He was the GM as well. I got some details. Gary wanted to involve the cops for attempted murder. Boss dissuaded him. Gary told one heck of a tale that left me looking like Satan. So I told him all about the necessity of Gary's punishment on the way back to the city. He had a good chuckle about it. He was actually a decent guy. I worked for him until I went back to school. I got moved to a different crew where I could be the lone sociopath. That's about it. I did get some street cred with the rest of the boys at the company. Jumping down to the comments on this one we have one from a user called Little Miss Savoir Fair. It says, I love your revenge, but I also worked in the Alberta oilfields in the Aughts. And with the tickets and after six months experience, you could have bounced to any other outfit. Or heck, anywhere, period, fracking, service rigs. My brother had the same sort of situation
and prided himself on loyalty, which always puzzled me. Because all employers, but especially oilfield companies, don't give one wet crap about you. Opie responded to this one and said, yeah, I realize that now. At 18, I didn't have the maturity life experiences. Youth is wasted on the young. I guess mortal terror is one way to get back at your enemies when you can't think of anything else to do. I know we've all seen the videos of people going down the highway where there's a towed semi truck in front of them and they slam on the brakes and honk the horn for somebody sleeping in the passenger seat. Those are always fun to watch. Search them up if you haven't already. I never worked in the oilfields, but I'm pretty sure that most employers count on the younger employees to not have the experience of life so they can treat them like crap on a regular basis. There's a lot of companies that hire young people just for that reason. It's kind of sad. ABC Wednesdays, the Emmy winning comedy scrubs is all new.
This is a whole new chapter for me. No more sad sack. That's what I'm talking about. I want both of our sacks to be fun. You two idiots are perfect for each other. From the executive producers of Ted Lasso and Shrinking, we were all a part of this victory. Now get those nachos out of the premium warmer. That shows. It feels like there's more applause for the nachos than my speech. The new season of scrubs Wednesdays, eight seven central on ABC and stream on Hulu. Based on the cult film, this indie rock adventure features an electrifying score by Guster's Ryan Miller. Safety not guaranteed plays March 32, April 12th tickets at sickfeator.org. This story comes to us from Little Bitty Pretty One. Do do do do do do do do do do do do do. Anyway, you want special treatment? I would love to buckle up. This is a long one. Once upon the before time in 2015, I worked my way through nursing school as a waitress in a restaurant. This restaurant did not advertise. They prided themselves on word of mouth for their popularity.
This is important. I had been there for several months at this point and had proved myself reliable and knowledgeable enough to help train new waiters. Not technically a trainer, but could be relied upon to support new workers once the trainer set them loose. We had one older guy who had just been released. He was a little awkward, little shy, and worried about mistakes, absolutely expected, and he was great to work with. On the night of our tale, he was in the section next to mine, easy to keep an eye on, and easy to hop in and prop him up when he hit the weeds. This was his first night with his own complete section. Weeds would be a bound. I was ready. What he wasn't ready for was his first demanding roundtable of about six people, 20-somethings with attitude. He came to me worried and confused. They want xyz, but I don't think that's on our menu, right? She says we have the ingredients and just make it that the other location makes it all the time. Yes, I could have taught him to stand his ground, but nerves and first night with your own section isn't the time for this to go over well.
So I told him to ask the backline and see if they were willing. If not, I would talk to the table. Cooks were fine with it, basically a wrap if I remember correctly, so no problem from our end. This was apparently the cue for the leader of the table to demand something every time he came to the table. As soon as he brought the last requested item, she needed something else. I thought it was possible and had been keeping an eye on him. Seeing his panic face, I gave him a nod and started checking in on his other tables, slotting them into my own table cycles. Reasons I'm paired with him. This carried on for their entire meal, incredibly needing and demanding his full attention with zero apology or kindness. I made sure to catch him in the back to prepare for possibly getting no tip, but to calm the panic and to remind him, I would not be touching the tips from his other tables. Honestly, this poor guy looked like he was about to quit on the spot. This leader was rude and impatient and gave him no space to breathe. I was his emotional support
animal at this point, but knowing he was at least twice my age made it even worse for him. The table had come in close to the end of the night and ended up staying past our sections closing, so they were the last table on our side of the restaurant. Perks of closing with a new waiter getting cut early. That's when he came to me asking how to do an employee discount, and they wanted to use more than one on a single ticket. Was that okay? I was confused. Wait, employee? That's when he shared that she had spent the entire meal berating and making fun of him, because one, she was a trainer at our other location, and two, he was the worst waiter she had ever seen. The one or the other location made her special meals, and zero surprises he was such a wreck. On top of that, she was claiming there were multiple birthdays in the group, so free cakes all around, and she wants the birthday song immediately. To say, I was livid is saying lava is warm. I was ready to throw hands for this poor man. Instead, I told him to prep
the cakes, but don't go out yet. I would get the boss about employee discount, not needed, we could do it ourselves, but this was such a special case, and I would gather the workers for the birthday song. Managers there were absolutely amazing. We loved each one, and all of them had our backs, very rare in restaurants, so this almost is the best part. I gave the front end boss a quick rundown of the table's antics. Remember the word of mouth restaurant mentality? Yeah, boss was not having a restaurant employee acting so cruelly, even if she wasn't his employee. I asked permission for what I wanted to do. He smiled and gave permission as he grabbed the employee numbers given for the discounts, which that trainer would have known could not be stacked, and told me he had a boss to boss phone call to make. I then ran to every employee I could grab. Remember, half the restaurant was closing down, so we had several people available, including a dishwasher, and gave them each the fastest explanation of the table and the plan. And then I told the poor nerve rack
server that we were ready to drop cakes. The crowd that arrived to that 6% table top was honestly the largest we have ever had for a birthday song, and I'm pretty confident the largest that restaurant will ever have. We served free cakes in front of every seat, and leader had the most self-satisfied smirk as we all grinned aesthetically and lined up to sing. And oh did we sing? We all sang that birthday song as loud as possible. Please do recall they were the last table in the section, and for your imagining, I should mention this table was in the corner as well. So while we were screaming the birthday song, it was bouncing back from that corner as well, and it was an excruciatingly long song. Their smiles dropped immediately, and hands covered their ears as they jumped with the audio onslaught. I knew it hurt my ears, and that pain is something that still makes me smile to this day. We all stood there, giant group, happily screaming our restaurant special happy birthday song, and it still warms my heart a decade later. More than that, while we were
gathering and planning and destroying eardrums, our boss was making phone calls in the office. Yes, he called her restaurant manager and informed them of her behavior, and no, she didn't get stacked employee discounts, she didn't get her discount at all. I know because I was there when she was handed the phone from my front end manager at the host desk, and when she started to cry, and tried to make excuses for why she shouldn't be fired. But the general manager, one step below owner since this was a small company with very few locations, had already been called. Her employee number had been shared, and she was done. I'm not psychic, she could have gone back to her home location and can be someone to hire her back, anything is possible. But I know how she treated this poor guy. I know how I told the tale to my boss, and I know the quiet rage he so rarely touched when it was rage. I would have almost given up joining in that screaming song to be able to hear those phone calls. Almost. Jumping down to the comments on this one we have one
from a user called Spottamus Prime, it says, there is a special place in hell for front of house workers who act terribly went out to eat. Okay, can we go back to the beginning of this one where OP said, once upon the before time in 2015. I'm one of those people that things like 1995 was only 10 years ago, so calling the before time 2015, oh that one hurts. A lot of employers say you have to treat the customer like they are always right, but honestly you want to treat the customer like they are. A complete butthole, hemorrhoids and all. It's interesting how in these stories we hardly ever hear of places where the management is actually good. So a story like this where OP was backed up by the people that ran the restaurant is absolutely amazing. It's almost a feel good pro revenge story. This story comes to us from Candid Empire 6418. The story when me and my ex-girlfriend tricked an internet creep into snorting baking soda. This is my first post in this group. I really hope you agree that this is pro revenge material and that you will enjoy it.
It's a long ride but I hope you'll find it worth to read and apologies in advance for my grammar as English is not my primary language. First off, the backstory. This took place in the early days of the interwebs around the autumn of 1999 when HTML coded chats became very popular. For you youngins, those spaces would be considered the pinnacle of free online speech today as they were 100% unmoderated and they didn't log any personal data or that you registered an account. It was extremely basic to use as you just had to write what your session's screen name was and that was it. So anyone who wanted to be a creep or toxic could do this without any real-life consequence, which led to a lot of unwanted contacts. Their MO was basically to use the whisper function aka old school DMs where you still wrote in the group chat but only the recipient would see it. Especially girls and young women were targeted and although these chats didn't support any images, it was pretty common to exchange email addresses to keep in touch. So bow and be hold,
below pixel, um, pickle pick was received. This meant that we users needed to figure out ways to self-moderate the chats. The most common way to protect ourselves was to create online communities on a separate website. Often using the name of the particular chat room where you hung out, ours was named the attic, for example. As this was before the use of registration, a membership would be granted if you were active and endorsed by another member. We had member lists containing our nicknames, a bulletin where we weren't about known creeps, lists on how to behave, early netiquet, and other ways to support each other. An example on how we could make a creep leave the chat was to coordinate in the chat and send hundreds of whisper messages using control v, flooding their screen with a wall of repetitive text that only they could see. 95% of the creeps gave up as their connection would suffer. Our attic was known as the safest place among those chat rooms. Some creeps though were a bit more slippery and still managed to trick victims to
share personal info. So it was a constant battle to come up with new, different, and often very creative and funny ways to combat these creeps. Now let me present the actors in the story. I, male 20, met my then girlfriend, female 21, through a physical meetup that was organized by this specific community. We would meet up once or twice per year, traveling from all over the country just to meet up and then hang around for a weekend, partying or doing fun stuff at amusement parks or other places. My girlfriend was one of the first members in this community and was a well-known user in the chat for being really tough and creative when dealing with creeps. A standing joke was that she was more evil than the devil. Now for the pro revenge part. The creep in question, let's call him Farmer Bob was one of the creeps who was a bit slippery. He managed to become a member without any of us suspecting a thing. His creepiness was very low key and only after some of the younger members started to report getting emails and unwanted messages,
me and girlfriend decided to act. We started out by her pretending to be a naive and new user and we managed to get him interested. After some back and forth, we managed to get some basic info about him and even some personal info. For example, we learned that he was living in the rural areas of the country and he claimed to be wealthy as the owner cattle farm, hence Farmer Bob. We soon realized that he was extremely stupid, seeming to be lacking in both social skills and basic education. He bragged about always wearing wooden shoes and how the females loved to be serviced by him while wearing them. After some more back and forth, my girlfriend got bored and decided to just eff it, let's just go all in. So my girlfriend pretended to be interested in maybe hooking up, but only if he could offer some powder as it always made her super interested. To our surprise, he took the bait and that he couldn't afford it, despite bragging about being a wealthy cattle farmer just an hour earlier. He also slipped
by telling her that his parents would be out of town the coming weekend. Dude, literally forgot that he had claimed to be the owner of the bloody farm. Anyway, girlfriend felt that she wanted to just exaggerate the crap out of him and wrote something like, but Farmer Bob didn't you know that if you mix three parts baking soda with one part vanilla sugar, then you would get a rush equal to a powder rush, but with a nice aftertaste it's also way cheaper. We thought this was so over the top that the game would be up and that he would finally realize that girlfriend was just trolling by now. Instead, he told us that he had forgotten about that DIY powder trick and thank girlfriend for reminding him about it. Girlfriend convinced him that he had to be sure to make a batch before she booked a train ticket and he had to make sure it was a good quality. He promised her that he would make a batch right away and try it out later that evening and we logged out. Fast forward a couple of days, believing him to have realized that girlfriend had been trolling him, we got an email written in all caps. It was something like, you made my nose
bleed, you MFB, I had to visit a clinic because of you, etc. He was so furious and accused her of tricking him, no crap Sherlock, but wait my fellow redditors, this wasn't even the best part. We not only managed to somehow convince him that he must have gotten the mix wrong, we made an outlandish claim that she used this DIY nose candy all the time in her side gig, which was to produce and star in German amateur films that she sold to tourists from all over Europe. To prove this, we recorded an extremely stupid and blatantly obviously fake trailer for our big hit. My girlfriend's younger brother and his friends started it, so the scene is her bed, her brother pretending to be a random dude sitting there with his friend laying on his stomach over his lap, both fully dressed and pretending to be my girlfriend as he had long curly hair. Using a wooden spatula, he simulated spanking him while I stood behind the camera and clapping wet hands. To top it off, me and girlfriend shouted German sounding nonsense and they mined their
mouths. The quality of the video was horrendous, but the low resolution and frame rate actually created a believable trailer. It was still extremely silly and over the top and should have been apparently fake to everyone. Not too farmer Bob though, he was totally convinced this was the genuine thing and begged us to sell him some films. We agreed to do so, but only if he tried the home made powder again. We never heard from him again after that, I'm guessing he finally realized it was all fake. He might have kept creeping in the chat room, but using another name. We never got another report with his email though. And yes, this is a true story, the trailer was unfortunately on an external hard drive that broke about seven years ago. I hope to be able to extract it someday, but until then you have my word of honor that this is a true story. All right, I don't even need to go down to the comments on this one because, oh my gosh, do I remember the days of IRC chat like it was yesterday? I spent so much time on there.
We're talking about back in the days when the first message you would send somebody who dropped into the chat room was ASL, question mark. You might get a response of 25 mail, Canada, or 45 female Norway, or something like that. It was how you met people online and learned who they were. There are so many legends from back in those times on IRC chat. I'm just going to end this one off with one of my favorite quotes from back then. I put on my robe and wizard hat. If you know, you know. And with that, I think we'll end this one here. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to follow us on your preferred podcasting platform.
