A friend of mine in Waco TX wants to be in charge. “Put me in charge of food stamps. No cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s. Just money for 50 pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese, and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, get a job! Put me in charge of Medicaid. We’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, nicotine. You want to use alcohol and smoke? Then get a job! Put me in charge of government housing. You ever live in military barracks? You’re going to maintain our property! Clean and a good state of repair. Your home will be subject to inspections anytime. And if you want a plasma TV or an Xbox 360, get a job and your own place! In addition, we either present a check stub from the job each week, or you’ll report to a government job. It might be cleaning highways of trash. Sounds like tough love? No, it’s just love.
