Do you know how to tell whether a couple is dating or married? Dating couples are intentional about their relationship. Married couples usually aren't. Dating couples, plan dinners, ask each other thoughtful questions, stay up late talking, and show appreciation to each other in creative ways. No matter how busy life gets, they prioritize each other. They organize their daily activities around that one objective, breathing life into their relationship. But after marriage, all of that intentionality slowly goes out the window. The daily grind takes over and the couple gets pulled in different directions. Their careers demand more and more commitment. Their children require more and more energy. And somewhere in the middle of all that busyness, the marriage drifts. The relationship stays intact, but the couples pursuit for each other shifts into a pursuit for other things. If your relationship is drifted, the remedy is to start dating again, meaning be intentional
about your relationship. You don't have to do anything fancy. Just find small ways to express your love, a walk through the neighborhood. Handwritten notes that share your appreciation for each other. Purposeful moments are often simple, but they communicate something powerful and profound. You're worth my very best, not my leftovers. So to help your marriage thrive, go to focusonthefamily.com. I'm Jim Daily.
