Hey, yeah, let's talk about anxiety and there's always a sense of an ease whenever you get called into your manager's office You know alarm bells always go off and your mind scrambles to find out what's the tiniest thing that you might have possibly done Wrong so imagine how frantic I feel knowing that my boss is on the telephone line right now ready to have a chat with me I guess I should offer him a proper. What's his title officially regional manager of talk and talent at 880 shed in qr in Calgary Andrew Murdoch. Hi Andrew. I love you Hey Courtney, I need to first off. I want to jump in on this Gordon Ramsey Yeah, I know the one thing I would not prepare and that is risotto I've watched enough of hell's kitchen to know That would be a bad choice, but I think I go for my Cedar plank honey garlic salmon. Okay, well we know what next time you're back in the office
We know what to expect we're gonna break the rules about from microwaving fish. We will allow that For that what is funny last week I had some leftovers of that and I was that I was that guy But I had that for lunch Day after yeah, yeah for what it's worth you're getting a serious finger wag from producer Layla here over that very dish Ah, so yeah, I was mentioning before the break obviously you're coming on to have a little bit of a chat with me and Yeah, so I'm being fired right is that what it is? I'm being fired You know what we called you in It was a good thing. It was like you know The Corte Nitorio show, you know, it's a great work the whole team does Layla and Derek and there's lots of other people that contribute And you know, we we want to bring it to a broader audience We've you know seen success with Shay show being provincial. So you know, we're taking you Alberta wide Okay, well as long as you don't make me work more
You'll have to work one extra hour, okay, but you've had a crucial job It's true. It's true. I just show up here and I read the notes that Layla puts in front of me every day But yeah, one till four is what we're doing right now. We're gonna piggyback right off of Shay when he wraps up here, right? Yeah, one to four and you know the reality is with the with the oilers games That the end time ebbs and flows with With our hockey broadcasts So, you know the schedule time is one to four If the boys are playing in an eastern game or the swings you'll be off a little bit early to accommodate Oilers now and then the face off show. Yeah, and now just because we're going provincial Don't make it feel like we're gonna go all Calgary all the time Edmonton It's still my home and it's still gonna be a large part of the focus of the conversation right? We're gonna try and strike the right balance Yeah, I mean, that's a great point. I mean your Conversations specific to Edmonton. We're gonna keep those and you know, we're gonna be having city specific content rolling out
Simultaneously and you know, there's there's a bit of work involved with that As we've been putting it together, but so you can have you know an Edmonton specific conversation at the same time A Calgary specific conversation will be airing on qr So it's not a magic trick. There's a lot of work that goes into this, but let's be honest There's some great Alberta conversations the capital city You know, there's just great provincial conversations that you have access to You know deal makers movers and shakers and you know, and we want Calgary audience is to hear those those conversations as well Yeah, and of course again, it's just all you know despite the fact that there's a lot of talk about The doom and gloom in the media business right now. I think the the fact is you take a look what's happening with us here at shed in Edmonton You take a look what's happening with our friends at qr in Calgary and I gotta tell you it's it's actually kind of an exciting time to be in radio
Well, you know, of course is is investing in radio and you look at this you're saying it's a provincial show Well, here's the thing we've gone out and purchased the rights to the Calgary flames We've had the rights to the advent to noilers for 30 years Actually qr had the rights to the flames when they last won the Stanley Cup Or the one time they won the Stanley Cup. Let's be honest You can you can say that on this radio station. Yes. You don't have to worry about that till Monday Hey, but there's nothing to be ashamed to have a Stanley Cup. This team's I wish they had a Stanley Cup So but the bottom line is as we're investing in the flames We've got our oilers now show it's It's a tremendous show we've grown out with video content Bob's to offer is Legendary and and beloved and You know, we're starting a new show flames now. So when you end Calgary's got flames now Eminson's got oilers now and You know, there's a there's a broader group. There's a great sports team. There's a great team of journalists here We'll be able to tap in and and we're collectively
You know, we know there's going to be growing pains We're we're going to be doing our our best and and we know Uh, that you know, your quirky sensibilities Are going to be uh the loved by the Calgary audience and you know, we're looking for feedback for the audience too in terms of you know How do we make it? How do we improve and get better? But there's actual you know, there's national conversations That we can have and there's global conversations like to for us just to live In one little spec. That's not what we want to do. No, absolutely We want to make sure that we run the gamut and I'm glad to be able to share that with the folks in Calgary as well Hey last thing before I let's get back to business because I know you're Calgary tending to some things right now Do I get a promotion gift or or at least do I get a pizza party? Pizza party. Okay, I'll have to check the budget. We might have room for that As long as you don't get too many toppings. Okay, I will warn you I'd be willing to sacrifice one topping if Leila gets her pony that shows she wants for the new show
A pony. Okay. All right. I'll have to You know crunch some numbers. I'm breaking a few pencils on the pony, but yeah, no, I will warn you actually Derek also wants a pony. We need to thank you now Oh, well, thanks. Well, thanks for for popping by and we'll see in the office for the pizza party, Andrew Yeah, well, I'll be back Monday. All right. There you go. Yeah, exciting news. We're going provincial beginning next week One to four every day in Edmonton and Calgary on shed and QR Excited to be able to engage with more conversations with more folks out there in this wonderful province week call Home that was Andrew Murdoch by the way. He's how you tell you what his title is. It's my boss That's what his title is. That's what it says on his business card corny terro's boss. So
