4:16home it's your birthday drove all day long trip immediately into Michigan Purdue immediately into selection Sunday immediately into like you know I'm trying to look at the bracket and get some stuff lined up feel like I've barely even like breathe trying to like see the kids and have fun with the kids and in the back of my mind the hard part we got another huge trip coming man is that way in on you at all like I and I'm such a bad traveler it's just like I just want to exhale and enjoy this week and I'm pumped about the next trip to but I realize I'm not I don't think I'm good at this like Hummel does this every day yeah I am gasped right now in my head though I think that it is something that this is new this level of activity for us is new like we we have gotten some opportunities but this is our most opportunity filled month that we've had at a time of sleepers and uh yeah you know I do it is weighing on me I truly was

5:16thinking but I'm like I like empty my suitcase wash on my clothes and by the time I know I got packed back up and go again like I I had like an hour and a half today because I did a bleach your room right after selections Sunday wrapped up and had like an hour to spend with the family put Leon the bed and I don't know I would nag a little bit but yeah uh let's just say I think after the seasons over this year I think we need a good little like week yeah a good week just a week of nothing yeah it's so hard to be us you know what it is it's so it's just so hard to like do what we love and oh wait oh we're oh my god we're doing it yeah that was shitty of us oh we're doing like the Norlander thing yeah that was really shitty of us we're like I'm literally living my dream I'm just tired and I'm like damn the sucks one or another thing what the tiredness is brought upon

6:21ourselves we could choose yeah not to be tired we could have been in bed by like eight last night and instead we were at a ping-pong bar because no one could answer for my forehand yeah special by the way and then even after ping-pong hotel right there yeah right but then Sweeney Sweeney damn Sweeney well it was your birthday though I think I would have been in bed had not been your birthday to be honest yeah and if it was my birthday I would step up and be like hey bed so sorry yeah so all right well uh maybe I don't know maybe by tomorrow we get one good sleep in and then we're both just like pumped again for our next endeavor good sleep cup of tinker in the morning and yeah and and it's still madness dog yeah like this is it this is like we we live for this this is what it is the bracket it's the matchups it's the feeling good about your draw it's the not feeling good about your draw it's people looking up which basketball you're going to play with at which game where the games are taking place

7:26there's a little bit of everything storylines madness at at its core we love this yeah this is the best week of the year every year every year every year uh okay all right let's get to it we are going to give you basically a preview of each region in this tournament one by one uh just this is very high level first night reaction from both of us again we will have more advanced official picks for you in the next day or so on the channel but uh that's what we'll do we'll go one by one starting now let's start in the east region the first region that was unveiled the number one overall seed in this tournament the favorites region is the Duke Blue Devils this is also where you find your team Michigan State Spartans uh we don't have to go game by game here but just to sort of reiterate the teams that are involved in this region you've got Duke the one to probably getting Bruce Thornton or TCU you've got St. John's and Kansas lurking as a potential round of 32

8:30game between Rick Patino and Bill Self you've got Tom Ezzo and the Spartans has the three seed in a pod with Pat Kelsey who is still looking for his first NCAA tournament win and uh danger is south Florida team that a lot of people really like and then you've got Dan Hurley Yukon Husky says the two and a UCLA team that looks hot if they're healthy right now in this region a different way to frame it Dan Hurley Tom Ezzo Bill Self Rick Patino John Shire holy shit that Kelsey the brand power in this region is something what's your kind of high level view of the east region so I think the first and foremost right when I dropped out I was like all right three in Duke's region hell yeah we draw Duke like that's amazing but to be honest with you I do feel good about Michigan stays draw I do I think you look at a Pat Kelsey Louisville team

9:30that's very hot and cold if Michigan stays defense is what it is I think it could deal really well with that I also think there's a world where South Florida wins that first game against Louisville UCLA might be a little beat up not even dead left the big 10 tournament Bill Adale is coming off in Eastbrain Yukon sideways Denver maybe a little ankle injury also Yukon has not been Yukon this year so it's two things pulling at me it's me it's one side of my shoulder saying that and then the other side saying what you just led with it's this is a this is Shire Patino Self and Hurley those are all like monsters of March so the little bears team the monsters of Midway those are monster coaches in March so it's it's an interesting interesting layout I think yeah can I ask you as a fan the whole like in Duke's region thing so I hear a lot of groans in general even before the bracket was announced of like oh no I just know they're gonna stick us with Duke is this like an annual

10:37thing why is this such a big thing with the Michigan State fan base I'm not I can't say that I don't know there's only been twice since well you only played them twice I think you you constantly get paired in the same region but you're one and one against Duke in the tournament since 18 not like they've been like a death spell to Michigan State in the tournament at all so I don't know I just I the couple people like even our boy Colin was texting me and uh was just like this is so annoying I'm like why of all the one seeds I feel like Duke with the injuries might be the gettable one seed right now for Michigan State yeah probably I was gonna ask you that is it more Duke getable or because we had a conversation earlier like Florida doesn't belong in that that tier of the other one seed I think Florida is probably the weakest one but like if you're trying to get in Florida's region I don't know that you want necessarily Houston as your two or Illinois as your three and I know you're a three you're Michigan State but like I like truthfully I maybe it's more so me just keeping it close to chest like because I don't want to

11:43act like I'm just like ecstatic but I I really do like Michigan State's draw like I feel really good about it even all the way down to the fact that if we do play Duke we can run that back outside of the head coaches in brand power which both matter I think in March Yukon is objectively the weakest two by a lot like by a lot that is the weakest two seed here so if you're Michigan State trying to look at a run tell me you have to be North Dakota State Pat Kelsey or South Florida and then the most fraudulent two seed to get to an elite eight like you're or make Micron and might get hardly before that I don't know like I think this shaped out pretty great for Michigan State outside of like the old yeah we got to play Duke but like you don't you'd rather play Duke right now than Arizona and you weren't going to be in Michigan's pod I don't think so I don't know it doesn't feel like a bad draw to me uh what give me like uh I called him pods like a four team part of this region

12:48you're most interested in four team um probably the so the four probably the UCLA UCF UConn firm in one why well because one I think that UCF could get UCLA if they're not full health and you know I look and it depends what UCLA you're going to get you have UCF is a team that they've knocked off some big teams in the big 12 they can really light it up offensively like that's something they can depth and do they can shoot the ball so and you know they could find themselves in a world where they go up against UCONn um if it wasn't for more so a matchup I would pick that St. John's Kansas kind of pod there only because I thought St. John's would be higher given the fact that they did win the biggest tournament I know I saw some other people making comments on that so um yeah one of those two okay I I like a lot of the various potential matchups here um just to name

13:52a few St. John's Kansas would be really fun in the round of 32 if that came to fruition I think UCLA you con would be like an awesome round of 32 game but I think it is if I'm like isolating the first four games in one particular part of this it is St. John's Northern Iowa and Kansas Cal Baptist Cal Baptist has some Hooper's card they do I remember there we watch Cal Baptist this weekend right and they got some dudes including a guy that uh can go out and get you 30 any given night in Dominic Daniels Jr who uh I don't know he's 510 185 he's kind of the like prototypical March Madness hero from the mid major and I'm kind of envisioning him against Kansas having like a big moment in the spotlight against generational guards and I'm intrigued I'm intrigued I think both those like it Kansas St. John's feels like everyone's matchup almost

18:05next region first rapid fire answer give me a game you want to see that is possible given this bracket game I want to see um sleep or pick UCLA and Yukon okay I want to see I want to see Mick Hurley and also like maybe a dent tournament run given off how he's played the last month okay I like that all right I will go Duke Kansas in the sweet 16 because to me that would mean Darren Peterson is playing well and Darren Peterson playing well against Duke in a sweet 16 would be pretty awesome love that be pretty awesome uh upset watch who's the most likely 12 seed or lower to pick off a team in the first round I'll go and there's a couple that I think are possible here there's a

19:10couple I like the Cal Baptist shot a Cal Baptist shot given uh given what they can do offensive we also monitoring those of calling out Bryson Tiller and other players on the team given their last performance I'm worried about vibes yeah I agree I agree Cal Baptist is my answer I do think Yukon is live against Furman though I'm gonna keep looking at that a little bit closer until Thursday but I just I think that's a game I don't think that's a cakewalk for Yukon uh who do you have winning this region as of now disclaimer we could change this by the time we put our official picks and we've only looked at this a little bit up until now Duke chalk yep I got Duke Duke over Michigan state yeah yeah that's where I'm at too we'll see if I change that the second region that was unveiled for the NCA tournament is the West region you've got Arizona as the one seed Kanoos Philanova is the

20:15eight taking on Utah State this is the committee personally sticking middle fingers up to me we have Nick Boyd and Wisconsin against Darius Aikuf and Arkansas if both hold serve in the second round I'm devastated about that pairing here we've got Gonzaga the three DeBonza and BYU the six Purdue the two taking on Queens and they will get the winner of Miami or Missouri if they hold serve some fun underdogs as well we'll probably speak to but at a high level what's your instant reaction to the West region mine thank you um I'm blessed to watch a region that has a Caden Lewis Nick Boyd Darius Aikuf A.J. DeBonza Braden Smith I did this this region is just full of guys I love watching play basketball like talk about them every single game so it's it's one that also when you look forward you look ahead like man the sweet 16 matchups they lead it like they could come out of this region could be so so

21:19fun definitely could be I think um it's the most fun region almost for sure I'm so mad they put Wisconsin and Arkansas on the same pairing because I I genuinely think if you dropped either Wisconsin or Arkansas in any of the other three regions I'm probably picking them both to like an elite eight but A.J. DeBonza Aikuf boy will feed families it will that game will be final four good in the round of 32 and I just it'd be fun but they might beat the shit out of each other and then whoever wins is like dead by the time you get Arizona um I just I actually you know I've been speaking this one into existence the game I wanted to be possible as tournament was Wisconsin Arizona I literally think if there was a team good enough the right formula to pick off Arizona it's Wisconsin the problem is I think Arkansas beats Wisconsin so like I have to prevent myself

22:23from the matchup I wanted to see if I actually filled this out the right way I'm going to go back and forth on that one for like three days if you're an Arizona fan and you're looking at this are you upset I think I'm upset at this draw if I'm zona I'm upset but I also do the quick thing where I'm looking like I see a lot of food front courts no I see a lot of teams I think I can physically dominate like I think you're fun you're cool you're spunky ooh three threes ooh sweet I got something for that I got something for that physically I got something for that front court wise I can dominate these guys in a glass so I think it's I think it's I think it's two side I do think they're also feeling good about it yeah okay all right I think that's fair up till the elite eight then they'd get either Purdue or Gonzaga and I think both those front courts will be up for a fight at minimum they'll have a couple guys that can can play against the zona front court but I just if I'm zona I don't want to see Wisconsin or Arkansas in a sweet

23:2816 at all I think both those teams are way more dangerous than any of the other one seeds potential sweet 16 pairings even like you look at St. John's who I have playing Duke like to me St. John's will just be drawing dead against zona like you're playing some explosive guards that could get 40 and kind of bomb over the top of you it's the last thing I would want to see um what about Purdue on the other side I called it a dream draw for the boiler makers at least until the elite eight when they would see zona right I think you you feel great about the draw um I think obviously you're in my opinion pretty cake walkie to the sweet 16 I think given the teams that they got on that pod and then in the cake walkie to the elite eight I think a zaga or BYU could get on I think the zags could get them uh oh huff no huff but they're they're real good defensively okay they're really good but also question which Purdue are we getting this one this one then maybe

24:34cake walkie for the elite eight yeah I just I I think it's about as favorable of a first three rounds as Purdue could get I look at this entire half BYU is incredibly flawed I mean I desperately want to pick against BYU I don't like any of the teams that they play early at all like I mean last we saw Gonzaga they were on the ropes to Santa Clara we saw St. Mary's get him earlier this year we saw him struggle with some middle of the pack west coast conference teams I just I think they're the weakest three I think uh they're not healthy I think BYU's not healthy I can't really see Miami or Missouri as a legitimate threat to Purdue right now but this is like it's the same feeling I had at the big 10 tournament draw like wait a second here kind of got what we wanted and uh you you nailed the Miami game as the seven they'd be paired with like is there a ball screen guy they're worried about here for their ball screen defense okay Johnson's been pretty good he's not going to get it himself league renew revenge game

28:45just let him get 50 and we'll guard everybody else thing like yeah DeBonza has been on some offensive shit lately probably guarding with CJ and then switch yeah but they would score 100 against BYU but that'd be you I you might score 100 that'd be fun one be really fun I like that answer I'll uh I'll go further and just say Purdue Arizona I think if Purdue got on the doorstep of a final four in Indy and just needed to go through like the best team that's the healthiest best team right now that'd be a big moment yeah and I hope I hope we see it's the the best basketball game possible from this draw and I would like to see it all right upset watch a team seeded 12th or higher that you think could pick off their opponent 12th to their higher to put up their opponent

29:46probably high point for me yeah by high point I still think that was constant is they're they're a lot of fun that team does have a floor at the same time then they ask them puzzling losses this year I would say so still volatile basketball team and I really like that high point team yeah that's fair it would that'd be one of those classic like everyone's looking to Arkansas Wisconsin someone just lays an egg looking ahead could happen I uh I don't love many of the upset potential teams in this one uh I'm going pretty chalk when I do fill this out but if I was looking at one spot I would look at Kenisaw Kenisaw is pretty huge they rank like extremely highly just in terms of national size um they were not destroyed against Bama now a big part of that was like a 53 point second half when the game was kind out of hand but I don't know they have like six nine six nine six

30:47nine six eight six six all the starting lineup and if they could use some of their positional size to frustrate Gonzaga's wings I'm not a huge Gonzaga believer as you know so that's one that I would circle who do you have winning this region uh I have Arizona one in this region you're going real chalky huh yeah okay yeah I forgot to say asterisk we are entitled to change this this is only our first pass at this I have Purdue winning this region whoa guess who I have them beating who I have them beating Arkansas whoa I think you have them beating that type of balls right team card I think Purdue is drawing dead if they play Zona but I think there's teams that can get Zona and I think

31:51that's when you talk about this a good draw for Purdue part of it is there are teams that could get Zona before they get to you oh a cuff's on some shit man I would I wouldn't want to avoid a cuff if I am Purdue I think they would frustrate the hell out of Brazil they they'd get him so confused and I think Braden could just go mono e mono with a cuff and win yes sir the third region in the NCAA tournament that was unveiled was the Midwest region my Michigan Wolverines dropped one spot on the seed line from uh the second overall once he to the third overall once he didn't really fundamentally change anything here though they're the one they will get the winner of Georgia St. Louis as long as they beat the 16 Texas Tech the five Alabama the four and some feisty mid majors Akron and Hoster are both teams that could easily pick off that first round

32:52game as well on the bottom half the bracket Miamiville Hio is in the play in against SMU the winner of that gets Tennessee you got Virginia's the three Kentucky the seven with Santa Clara the 10 and Iowa State the two at a high level what is your impression of this region I think that both Iowa State and Michigan just take walk to Dele day hmm probably probably my first takeaway not buying any of these secondary contenders in this one I just think that the front court that you met like I know you know I talked about this all along I think the front court presence that y'all can bring against the front court in this region I would be looking my talks yeah I did not in a real time feel that this was a great draw for Michigan and then you texted me like you got to love this draw and I was like oh my missing something like the the only thing I saw

33:56with this was okay we're gonna have to beat Phylon or Christian Anderson yikes I don't like that now like no top in and Alabama's front court's terrible so but even like I just think St. Louis is a scary team too now I'd be shocked if they beat Michigan but like that team all year has been like first or second in effective feelable percentage offense and defense like theory though what theory that I stole from you we're fading coaches that are shaking to see for other jobs yeah I'm just kind of worried shirts is like the next dusty oh and that this would kind of be like his announcement moment beating dusty yeah I I'm not overlooking that one at all I think they scare me a lot um and I think they're underseated a little bit too I mean I I don't think you could put them higher but I think St. Louis is better than a nine seat if they play their best

34:59game yeah they had a they had a kind of a rockier answer the season if I'm not mistaken right they did but they're like they got they got blown out by George Mason by like 30 so now it's some cam crut with Loyola vibes to that team though right now good I would be a Vila part of the I'll be a Vila just bust Michigan's front courts ass and we're like dude what like I don't but I hear your point if you do get to a Texas Tech or an Alabama game if you're Michigan uh even though those guards are ridiculous I do think you feel like your front court should just be able to bully them you made a good point a lot of the teams in this region play pretty fast um I think if you're trying to play fast and you don't have a great front court you're drawing dead against the Wolverine so you've taught me into it more than I felt in real time but uh maybe that's just vibes from watching my team struggle so badly with Purdue today yeah that's fair bottom half feels weaker than the top half to me most definitely just not buying

44:26played out on this one as far as what their past can be um really yeah because I think I think any Clemsons down their starting center Florida is the type of team that's absolutely I mean paus swallows Iowa in that setting um they could possibly go up against on Nebraska or a Vanderbilt in a revenge spot from the SEC tournament I like that as well then I look at the bottom I think there's a bunch I mean Houston obviously is a weapon but then you're looking at a 3C that's vulnerable a 6C without their best player and I don't know I I love this draw for Florida okay I'm surprised by that I think this is a pretty rough draw for Florida oh I don't think they're gonna struggle with the second game but uh yeah that's fine I got my eye on one that I'll save for later in this segment then I think is a nightmare draw for Florida and uh

45:30at the yeah at the bottom like Houston or Illinois feel like teams that are just good enough to be Florida no Houston yes not Illinois no see I I feel like all three if I'm Houston or Illinois or Florida I think I'm annoyed that all three of us are in the same region I think the good news for Illinois and up ruined this is I think that they the sweet 16 is just there for them because UNC and VCU VCU's VCU UNC is not healthy yeah yeah but I yeah I guess that's a good draw to the second weekend but then I think it's like a immediately a terrible draw you got to go through Houston and Florida to potentially make a final four yeah it's a good draw until it's not right which I yeah I don't love all right up set watch team 12 or lower that you think is most likely to steal a win here did you look at pen over Illinois at all I know some people like

48:40Florida would be awesome um yeah there's a lot of basically any of the top four seats in this tournament also what we skated over this when you said you thought it was a cake walk for Florida they might have to get Vandy again Vandy just beat the brakes off them boys yesterday yeah I like that you like that for for like that I don't think they wanted to see Vandy that quick but all right okay this was the one I was alluding to I think Nebraska beats Florida if they get to that game that's a big if Nebraska could lose to Troy they could lose to Vandy they could lose to McNeese they have never won an NCAA tournament game I'm talking two rounds in advance for a program that has Pat Kelseyed themselves for 200 years but if we just get there I talk all about the Nebraska defensive scheme a back court that can't shoot

49:44that will shoot themselves out of a game is exactly what Nebraska wants what that front court gave up 19 rebounds and 14 rebounds to TKR on Oxford Club I know I know they have to get what's the NCAA tournament for most rebounds in the K they'd have to figure that out but Illinois is also an elite rebounding team and that's how Nebraska beat Illinois I'm just like if I am Florida I don't want to play a team that's gonna make me shoot 60% of my shots from three and Nebraska will and Boogie Flandon's Avian Lee will probably shoot 12-3s each and if they shoot their season long percents they are gonna be in trouble in that matchup it sounds crazy I wish they had an easier path because I I really think Troy could get him and I think Vandy could get him but if I follow my heart on this follow my gut on this I think I'm gonna end up

50:49having Nebraska taking out Florida in the sweet 16 and have that be my Cinderella on this year what part of four are you most looking at here oh probably the North Carolina Illinois BCU on I really like BCU a lot North Carolina interested to see what that looks like in that that 11-6 matchup might be one that I picked the 11 seed in that one um and then obviously you have the storyline with Fran taking on the Illinois team even though I'm not buying Penn to really do much in that game but that's probably the one I'm looking at yeah I think it's the same for me the potential Illinois second round meeting with either UNC without Caleb or a BCU team they know they should beat like can they can they play the favorite in a tournament like this for the first time in a while
