Get the weather kind of like, affects them. So we just stick to the tempo and try our best to punch in as many times we can. Can't that even know what Prilsen was talking about? Kind of got their player pay. Is my haul pretty serious? You say anything? What's the name for my hand? Yeah, I definitely know a couple of those guys. So when I was there last year, it was like, yeah, Fall, you not used to this no more. I'm like, it is a little hot. But we definitely came out with the wind. So I was kind of chirping at them the day. This is our territory. I'm not used to this. Like, as Anthony said, not palm trees. It gets kind of cold out here. So a couple of those guys would kind of turn me back at me. Turn me back at four of you know. It's all friendly stuff though. None too out of the ordinary though. Getting out of the starting blocks in the first two series. You were just possessed. Just talk about your determination that opening a couple of series. Coach Gough always tell me, just use a guy gave me. Be a tough tackle. And I like the definitely shout out, letty Brown today. He told me, you know, Roman great pad level. I had high agree eyes. That's all you got to do.

You know, to be any lead running back. Roman great pad level and high by. So I would definitely give a shout out to letty Brown today. You mentioned that pad level. Coach Brown was just up here talking earlier about kind of you learning, you know, getting into the position a couple of years about your pad level, about how you even run the ball, about how hard it can be to run the guy your size down. Can you talk a little bit about kind of what you're picking up now, but you're a couple of years into your collegiate career a couple of years into playing, running back about just how you need to approach the position, how you need to run against these big 12 opponents. All right, Coach Scott and Coach Brown, they get on me every day, every week, CJ, you high, like you're running the ball to high. You get your pads down, you're a tough tackle, when you low, when you high, you go fill everything. So and also Drew, general manager, he kind of set me down and went over a couple of cowboys running backs and just showed me like, this is, this is where I go get you to the next level. And this is where I'm going to help us win as a team. So that was just like very important for me to like understand like, I'm a 240 pound running back who needs to be running behind his pads at all time.

So that was just critical and just me helping the team, you know, get those third and shorts and those third and ones and stuff like that. I feel like at least once in a game, I sit there and I think to myself, if you're getting tackled and I look away and I'm like, oh, he's going down this time, you're not going down. You got another five yards ahead. What's it feel like when you're in that moment, they're trying to bring you down and you realize, I got another three or four yards. They're not tackling me well enough to bring a guy in my size down. What's that do for your confidence and your energy and like just how does it affect you continuing to run the ball, getting those extra yards, making those plays? Well, Coastal always tell me, you know, bleed yards. Like, you know, get every, get every yard every yard matters tonight. I was four yards short, 100 yards. So I probably need to bleed a little more, but you know, it just definitely gives you like that confidence of knowing like, man, I could just keep running the ball harder. They can't tackle me. So just keep running the harder, keep running the harder. Eventually, I, you know, get that big one. So it definitely brings a confident boost to the game. C.J. was a huge team. Obviously, this year, I feel like a lot of times you've been tired of the poundback. He's been the bigger playback. So you had a lot of big runs. What's that feeling like to be kind of a break one? Have a couple of those 20 plus yard runs? Man, it feels great. You know,

I see a, see a free hiter every now and then again, tackled by the linebackers a lot, but it was just great. You know, just pick just kind of like still in the game and he was kind of still in my game today. You know, he definitely, I know y'all saw that run on that spindle. So we just still, we still each other game and just try to like, we just naturally compare this and try to make each other better. All we can practice, we just compete and kind of like, I want to say go ahead and try the next, but like if he make a big play, I'm gonna make a big play. I make a big play. He go make a big big play. So just what both of us in the room, we just kind of bring the best out of each other, you know, at all times. This is team mean to get the ball eligibility for you. You didn't get a play in last year's bowl. Yeah, it was, it was definitely important. My first two years here, I first year we did make a bowl game last year. I kind of watched the bowl game just, you know, having the opportunity to play in the postseason with those guys and, you know, like the Wyatt, Thomas and Yeats and all the rest of the line, you know, it's just like, just thankful to have another opportunity to play with behind those guys, you know, it was definitely important today to get that one. And the build on that bowl eligibility, especially with it being a bit of an up and down year in the program, can you talk a little bit about, does there a

little vindication or a little bit of, you know, just happiness to kind of shut off something negative to this course and get that bowl eligibility at the very least. Like you're going bowling, and I want to take that away from you guys now. Yeah, they go, it doesn't matter any situation. They go and say something. If you do something right, if you do something wrong, so, you know, we try to keep everything in house and we understand like last night we watched the gladiator. And it was important to realize that like everybody around the arena is just watching the fight, where we don't want to inside the fight. So only thing that matters is what we got going on. We happy, then we happy. Like that's the only thing that matters to us. You were shaking up at one point in the game. You know, Coach Scott came out to you and was very supportive. What's the relationship like between you two and what's he meant to you over your time here? It is definitely important. That guy can bring a different animal out of me. He knows how to push my buttons. So in a good way that means he's like, he know how to get me ready for the game and get my mindset ready. So he was like, you know, we still need like he talked to me, you know, we still need you, you know, as you, as you're able to go, he definitely checks on me first make some healthy and like in the right space. But he definitely can put me into like a different

spot, you know, to finish the game. So I appreciate that meant a lot. I feel great. I finished the game. Strong. I feel great. It is the same thing. It's just kind of like a game flow thing. They kind of made in-game adjustments late. They didn't have really good adjustments early on. So starting or not starting or being a second back up the third, but it doesn't really matter just like the opportunity. I remember my first game. I was the third back and I had a big play in the second quarter. So it just kind of a given go to flow the game and what the what the defense call and what we call. So it's like chess all the time. So whoever makes them next best move. So it really doesn't matter. Can you talk about what you the adjustments that you saw them make? How do you kind of covered that? Yeah. So at the beginning of the game, they were kind of like too hot shell. Then late they started to be in an eight man box and having only three guys in coverage and it was like kind of sending a lot of pressure. And we just made the adjustment. We're going to win

the game. That's the only adjustment. We made just win the game. We're going to stick to our plan. Still working. We still getting positive game. We just got to strand a little harder and you know, running ball a little harder. Get those extra yards to continue to get first downs, first downs. You can touch down. So we just kind of like just pull together and became as one to win the game. It seems like over the past couple of years, this team does best when y'all are getting 1,500 yards on the ground. Really just pound grounded pound against the opponent. Is there something you think that you see from your position on the field that y'all's run game does to opponents that helps kind of slow down the other team or helps put the team in a better position but win the game? You know, the run game definitely did take a lot. You know, by them putting an eight man box, we got an opportunity to scratch the ball down the field. I know Hudson, J-Rob, Rod, and all those receivers. They made great plays, cold-tailed and all those guys. They made great plays down the field. So the run game definitely opened up the past game. Let those guys have opportunities to have one on one because they definitely explosive down there. Rod made an amazing catch in the back of the end zone. And then J-Rob on the fourth down, how do you on the fourth down? Those guys just,

they just definitely help us too with running the ball because they block downfield too. So it definitely helps us as offense. Thank you, C.J. Thank you. With guys going in, going out, you moving back to guard, going in, what was that like in the moment having to adjust on the fly? I mean, we're built for this, like, just how I move the center and Steve move the left guard. It's just we're all pretty much interchangeable and we're going to all play all positions across the board. And you know, when it comes down to that time, you know, things like that going to happen. We're ready for it. I mean, AJ came in and given all of the circumstances for him coming off the back. Yeah, I mean, all those guys are ready. You know, we prepare during the week, during during training camp for situations like this. So it's not nothing new to them, you know. Guys are calm, cool, collected. They have good composure. So being elevated, being active, being a starter, you know, we're all in the same boat ready to play. I know it's a next men of mentality, but in real time when that was happening, these guys were going down and switching. What was the challenge for both of them physically and

mindset? I mean, we're all like I said, we're all pretty much interchangeable, you know, like if I need to go to left guard, center, whatever, both needs to go to center and left guard. However, you know, it's it's not really like a big shocker moment, you know, it's we train for this. We're prepared for this. So when it happens, you know, we're able to execute. To left guard. I think half time. Oh, coming in. It's a rookie in the crowd and the noise. And I know you said, you guys all trained for this, but what can you tell us about how he, I mean, he's a man, you know, he's he's he's he's built for this moment. He's done it for his whole life. So, you know, at the end of the day, it's just a game. And we keep on, we keep trying to keep everybody calm, collected, and you know, we're five is one. We help each other out and whenever, you know, you need to, we do it. So he was ready. He was built for it. You know, he's going to be a great player. You're obviously no stranger to Matthew's toughness. What was it like just seeing the way he

loved this off? I think I, that guy's a warrior. 36 years old. He's taken some hits and some things and some dent. So he's able to get back up and keep it rolling. You know, he's still got that fire to him. And, you know, we love having him back there. Sean has always said after a loss, don't let the team beat you twice. But to have the lead late in the game, it's all the injuries and not when you describe that level of frustration. I mean, it's the NFL. It comes down to seconds and inches and you've seen them all the past couple days and today, you know, it kind of down to the the little things and you know, we'll see them again. They didn't apologize if you were asked this before. What was it like for you personally to walk on the other days? It was kind of surreal, man. It was nice. It was a lot emotional seeing everybody. I wasn't a kid when I came here, but you know, I grew into more of a man. And these people here have definitely helped lay that blueprint for me and helped me out big time. I can't thank them enough for that. I know you're looking to film yet for how you feel about the D. I feel really good, you know, saying it because everything, you know, fair for all of a sudden, OTA is showing up. You know,

we stood our ground. We came up short a little bit, but in that end day, you know, it's a lot to learn from. I see a bright future for us. I think that they don't know overtime drive. I mean, you guys have been stopping them and then they just seem to kind of get a role. Yeah, you know, you know, just something that we just need work on, you know, got to play around better on that and just kind of eliminate the big bass. That's all that it comes down to, but overall, I just felt like we just came up short on that. That's the offense. It's kind of struggling to find it's hurting early in the game. What did you guys feel like you like to do as a defense team doing that? I feel like we just need to step up, you know, I know they would have come through and have our back. So I just tell the offense, you know, we got your back, you know, just keep going, we're going to keep on trying to hold in the best we can. So out of the visit, go. Oh, it was great. Yeah, I loved the both of the staff here. You can tell it has really good family times. A strong connection. What were some things that you were looking for on your visit? Whether it's, you know, talking to coach Norval, skiing, I guess what was important to you on this visit?

So I mean, for me, I mean, like this was kind of like a big decision for me, where I'm decided to kind of like not fish my degree arrest and then to record all this. I can develop, find the place where I can develop the most and then this is a good old line coach, you know, final place where I can face a good competition, not only in games, well, it's been practiced as well. And probably the most important is just finding a good good guy is that I dedicated to when he dedicated to it to being great because I mean, we have a team of me guys who aren't serious about what to be great. I mean, it's wasting time and money. So I mean, there's another problem, not big three, but the culture being kind of important to me. Being around coach of hand today, what was kind of the things that you noticed around him, just whether it's how he is or just what your thoughts of him being around him most of the time. He's an incredibly detailed guy. Yeah, I got that for sure from all. It's like watching someone, like he broke down, just like some gang fun with me and he also kind of worked

out some of the guys that he's coaching the past that are similar to me. And you know, that was he really just showed how good a coach used, you know, getting to know coach Norval during this experience when he was at that point. It was good. He's a very passionate guy. And I mean, I love that. But a head coach should have that and now you can tell how much he cares about what you want the guys want the program about just like being dedicated, being driven to when it's a succeed. What did they tell you about the opportunity here as far as meeting a player you're sort out of position? Well, I mean, they see me at a left tackle and I'll be a good fit, you know, come again. I was a coach Norval stress, you know, also another great one from all kinds of linemen in the portal that have lost a risk of being saying that for a while, it's like now it'll be good fit when it comes to what you guys do. But if he does, it's a little sight for people here. What's kind of the ultimate feeling now about FSU? Have you solved this big experience with them?

What's kind of the feeling about them? Yeah, it's definitely good feeling. It's great. I'm glad that I was actually able to come down here because I mean, some calls and focus on nice, but you know, in person is a lot different. This is a game to know the staff here, a game to know coach herb, a question of probably it was a great experience. Who else have you checked after in this process? What other schools? Well, I've talked to some other stuff. I've talked to a house, say, in Iowa and A&M, really just, you know, that's what I've been trying to keep the store, I've tried to keep the suite for who needs to be 20 months of schools. I mean, that's not the main priority. Are you entering decision mode now or do you intend to take some tricks in our engineering? Yeah, I'm going to do this in a minute. When do you want to decide? Sometimes before Christmas. What all? For those of us who don't seem to make me play white, so I've been looking at your strengths in areas that you're looking to improve. So, shrink wise, I would say probably just move it.

I mean, I have a clinical shirt, I'm pretty well fit in there, I'm a 45 pound guy, I have a good stuff. You know, I fight this evident off film. It's like now to get on my stance as a big thing for me, so big and just be able to move people. But at the same time, also just being consistent and handplacing a bunch on a forwarding general to the second week. I mean, if you're a big strong guy, you can only do so much, but I mean, you don't have the right to meet so much. That's a big reason why I want to have a good online customer. So, we'll find out that it needs to be precise with everything. That's kind of why we're looking for a three minute. Who? A lot of low-hours defense because they always travel. But are we a pro Texas crowd for the most part? Do you guys kind of thrive off that? Do you like that kind of being the enemy? I mean, you can say that, but you know, we don't really, you know, try to focus on the fans. We just want to, you know, produce on the field. If it's a way game, home game, you know, we just want to go out there and execute.

Uh, four girls, uh, right. Cameron T. Garabas in the athletic. It's highly, and there's a lot to say when you guys all came back, this one, the other Steve Dilline could be in these last two games. We have 12 stacks. I mean, you guys really aren't blitzing the time. It's not even the start. The bench guys can get out of the hands, come in. What's it been like to see this realize it's potential on kind of, where the kind of we have last two weeks? Uh, I say we always knew what we had in our room. You know, it's just now it was just showing up, you know, teams are scheming us different ways. And it's allowing, you know, certain players and making certain plays. And I think, you know, we got so many guys in the room, you know, we have two that can be ones anywhere. We have three that can be ones anywhere in the country, but they all, you know, decided to stick here and, uh, you know, grind this thing out with the guys that came in with it. And like I said, I think we have a great group who, you know, can make plays anytime. You guys get eight sex in a game, but also a whole to even close off is a minus 24 rush yards in the game. What is that like? What does that say?

By the way, the job you guys did, I said, uh, I think it's a great feeling, you know, looking up at the scoreboard and seeing like a negative, um, definitely, um, but you know, it's just like all the work we put in over the summer, over the season, you know, we've been building this defense to where it is now. And like I said, when we're executing and we're at a high level, it's, it's hard, you know, do anything with us behind the Birmingham, the podcast. I'm not going to ask you to call out officials, okay, but I do want to ask you, have you ever been told before? Yeah, I think our whole deline gets held, you know, every game. I don't know what the rest are seeing or what's going on with that, but you turn on the tape and really look at it. We're held almost every play. So, is there something that you can you guys be better actors? You need more dramatic about it. What do you think has to happen for it to get called in your favor one time this season? Uh, we can be actors, but you know, we don't really teach nothing like that, but

I don't know if it's where I'll, because we're Ohio State, you know, letting things go or what it is, but it's been, you know, pretty bad. I know y'all see it too. It's every play, almost every game. We got you. Uh, Adam King, WBNF. We got a chance to see a glimpse of Coach Day's pretty game speech. The intensity that you've seen for the last two games in the playoffs. Is that different than you've seen throughout the year? And what does that do for this week before you go out of the field? Um, I want to say it's different. He's been like that his whole year, but it's just now, it's, you know, getting recorded and posted. But definitely when you see your head coach, it's fired up like that. It likes to fire and you, you know, go out there and do better. And, you know, you can't thank Coach Day enough because, you know, he's our leader over this team. And he's like that. He makes you want to, you know, go out there and do great for him for like the guys around us. Scotty, we're going to go to you with a couple on Zoom. Yes, sir, we're going to start with Andy Anders. Andy, go ahead.

Yeah, and we, uh, Texas has a, runs a lot of outside zone schemes that you're just watching. What's important for the thing? Those kinds of plays on the ground. And I, I guess just uh, you're stricken out of those kinds of so to speak. Can you say that again? Yeah. I'm done with you to get there. Yeah. Just Texas runs a lot of outside zone in their run game, uh, running schemes. I just, what's important for defending that kind of plays? Oh, for a detackle versus stretch team, um, you always want to talk about penetration, like penetrating the line and not catching, um, because once, you know, you penetrate the stretch, it basically stops the stretch and makes them, you know, cut back to, you know, unblocked players. So really just attacking this game and not catching. Next question's going to come from Dan Hope. Dan, go ahead. Hi, Leake, you are in a freshman class with Quinn. Now you're playing against him a few years later. Just what's that like for you?

Uh, you know, Quinn's my guy. You know, he's a great competitor, great quarterback. I think it'll be fun going against him, you know, trying to get him running around. Next question comes from Kurt Bulls. Kurt, go ahead. Yeah, tell me, I don't know if there's one thing you can pinpoint why y'all been so dominant. I would think maybe it comes back under the physical brand of football. Do you feel that's going to be the survivor in this game? Who's the more physical team? Uh, I'll say definitely the more the most violent team, you know, the team that plays the fastest, excuse the most, and you know, uh, exceeds their game playing the most is going to win this game. I found a question will come from Stefan from Cleveland.com. Ty Lee, what's kind of your relationship been like with Ty Hamilton, especially as the seasons progressed and just how in sync do you feel like you two are playing on a defensive line together?

Me and Ty are, you know, we've been roommates for the past two years. We live in the same apartment complex. We play the game together. It's really like one of my best friends on the team and you know, we talk about a lot of football things. So we're really on the same page with a lot of, you know, plays teams like to run against us. And it could be some stunts we've run. We're always, you know, connected in some kind of way. Jerry, back to you. Great. Thank you. Got that. Just a couple more questions. Joey, Compton Columbus, this bad. Ty Lee, what does it say about your defensive line and how pride for you guys when you can get eight sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, though, having to bring a ton of extra guys and pressure by using this forward and do a lot of that? Uh, let's say, cool to store our coach, coach Jay. Um, this is a lot of technique and you know, sometimes it doesn't show up because, you know, team scheme you different ways. But when you have a team one dimensional, like they have to pass the ball, that's when all the, you know, the pass rush technique and stuff comes out. And I think we've gotten Tennessee and, uh, organ to those situations where they had to pass the ball.

And, you know, just let us rush free instead of worrying about the run. That makes sense. You guys just, what do you know, one of one of those pass rush situations to I.U.S. to get so many sacks and TFLs? Yeah, I'll say we're definitely winning way more 101s now. And, uh, you know, they're not keeping as many guys in the box to block us because they have to, you know, they're trying to come back. So I think it's like I said, it's just cool to the offense, you know, creating these big leads and making teams one dimensional. Tyle, we've talked about how better the team has gotten to getting off to fast starts on those sides of the ball. But there has been some scoring lead in the first half. Um, like I said, to see in the gets Oregon. Has there been renewed emphasis on controlling the middle eight? And how important will that be against Texas? Uh, definitely, you know, that's one of the coach days biggest points, you know, controlling the middle eight, you control the middle eight, you like chances are you winning that game goes, you know, skyrockets. So definitely versus Tennessee, Oregon, we give up touching on as you know, lay in a, you know, second half. I mean, first half.

But, you know, we just got to keep our foot on the gas. We can't let up like at all. Um, because these teams we're playing are great teams like Texas is a great team, you know, great offense, great offense of line, great quarterback, great receivers, great running backs. So you know, we just got to just keep executing like we know we can and, uh, you know, see how it plays out. Okay, final question for finally here. Uh, did me letterman rope? Yeah, tell you, you know, Aaron Donnelly, you used to talk about everybody's hurting at this time of the year. But when the lights come on and the, and the snap goes, what goes off in a guy like here's mine? I mean, from the standpoint of making the play, I mean, can you explain that the people don't get to play again in the middle of it all? Uh, I'll say, you know, like I said, you're right. Everybody has heard around this time. You know, we're, we're 15th week, 14th, you know, deep in the season. You know, you just got to, you just got to show up. That's my mind. So you just got to show up. No matter what I'm going through, I got to make that play. I got to be disruptive, you know, just to help my team out. Cause, um, when I'm on, when I'm on my A game, you know, everybody else can,

you know, feed off of me or we can feed off with like, you know, JT Jack tie. But I said, you know, Coach, make always says like, nobody cares. Like it's true. Nobody really cares if you're a hurried parent, you just got to go out there and play and make plays. Just a little bit, explain the drive you have personally to get to through this next one into the next one. But I know it's one step at a time, but you know, he came back, et cetera, explain people what's going on in your brain about your motivation. My motivation, you know, we all have our wise, you know, while we're doing things, you know, we have family, you know, family here, our team, our brotherhood. But, he's got to, he want to do, you write for your brothers, you know, on this team, you know, we're trying to win the big thing. We're not just, you know, trying to go win two games and lose, we're trying to win the big thing, you know, as long as we stay motivated, stay, you know, humble, like, you know, take the rap poisoning, you know, things like that and just execute and

just play our hardest, you know, that will be fine. Thank you very much. So that's the houses spring, the big old backs, we've been healthy. Yes, sir, I feel very healthy. Obviously coming off a season and ending injury last year, I feel really good, feeling better than ever, to be honest, even better than I did before the season last year. So, it's been a great spring so far. How does the point of being here, your office at the great start last year? Yeah, I mean, it was, it was a hard time. I mean, it's definitely not easy going through any injury, especially during the season like that. But, you know, it builds character. I think it's good for me in the long term. Also built that for the time of the season. Oh, for sure. Yeah, saw some key pieces coming there and produced at a high level. George is a stud. Once he gets healthy, he's going to be great. He's working really hard right now. He's going to, he's going to have a great season this year. Personally, how exciting is it for you to be kind of your position now this year?

Yeah, it's super exciting. You know, I got a lot better feel for the offense this year. Really good rapport with Hudson and it's been a fun spring so far. So, just got to keep keep carrying that on and see where it takes us. Obviously, when you're sideline, you're not playing how important is it to stay like mentally ready and mentally get those reps so that when you come into the spring, you can improve. Definitely. I mean, that's all it is really just mentally envisioning the plays envisioning making the plays and every night, you know, I think about it probably every day. So it was it was a big part of it for sure. For sure. How have you gotten better? I think just understanding the defenses and understanding where the quarterback wants me at a specific time and you know, building that trust with him is huge and I think I've been doing a pretty good job of that. How does that relationship with you and Hudson develop in the year two? Yeah, it's developing great. I mean, we have a great friendship off the field. So, you know, that helps a lot on the field as well. So we have a great connection, you know, both on and off the

field and it only helps. Your brother's coming right? Yeah, yeah. So you'll be here in May. It'll be a lot of fun. It'll be a lot of fun having him up here. What do you need to see a little team on Saturday? I think just, you know, go out there and play hard, limit the mistakes and at the end of the day it's just being consistent with what we do and playing hard. So that's why I want to see for sure. We feel like everyone's worth a pair for this spring game. Oh for sure. I think we're way ahead of last year and I'm excited to see where it takes us. Anything on Dipper or the freshman? Yeah, Drew Biber. Yeah, he's getting healthy now. He's looking great. He looked really healthy today and I'm super excited to play with him. He's a lot of fun to play with. Just how quick is this turnaround? You guys just started practicing a couple of weeks ago and now you have a spring game to get to. It's pretty quick but, you know, I like it. I like it a lot. So it's fun to get out there and play, you know, 11-V-11, put the ball down and go. Who think it could be one of the big turns of the best tie-dates? I mean, that's the goal. That's

the goal every day. You know, that's what I'm reaching for and whether I get it or not, who knows, but that's what I'm reaching for every day. There'd be a leader like how he is. I mean, he's just, he's an unbelievable leader and we all lean on him. You know, he runs this whole team and he knows that and we'll go as far as he goes. Jeremy Birmingham, the podcast. Brandon, we talked a little bit last week just kind of you being, becoming one of the emotional leaders of the team. As you've ever walking off the field at halftime, on Wednesday, I have to be down there by the locker room. I was only person taking photos of you guys down there, which is weird. But everyone looks super bad. You were up 34 to 8 and it looked like you got to down by 26 points. Did you feel something different about the focus at that point of his team or is it just a bit of modern what's going on right now because it seemed different? I just think the job wasn't done. We

were here nothing to be excited about at the moment. You know, we were excited there to gain more and making a place, but at that time, at halftime, you go back to zero-zero. They scored, they scored a thin and a half. We knew they got the ball back. The defense wasn't quite happy that they gave the touchdown the end and we knew they get the ball back coming out, but we was excited because we knew the job wasn't done yet. Bill Rebellion, Columbus, this way. You were a five-star guy, and that coming up, all these guys in the room almost were five-star guys. And then there's Jeremiah. Is he like, does he like all you guys in the room? I mean, I'm not sure. It's probably something you got to ask him, but Jeremiah has played with a lot of great guys throughout his career. He's seen all the talent you can see in the world, but I don't know if he's ever in all, but I mean. You and all of you. Oh, yeah. I mean, I'm not surprised at anything he does now. I've seen him since we were nine years old. Anything he does, anyone hand-kidged, I've seen, I'm not surprised

at anything he does. When he was nine, did you know this is something special we even met? A year at nine? Oh, yeah. I mean, coaches were coming up to us complaining that we weren't nine years old. Like, can we get their IDs and stuff like that? So, I mean, I mean, there's definitely some footage that we got to go find, but the place we used to make when we were younger and just to see where he is now is amazing. And it seems very unaffected by all of the starter. How does that happen? I think how he was raised. He's very level-headed. He knows his goals and what he wants to get done in life. And this is just one step of the way for him. Can I throw a back to Texas for a couple of questions on Zoom? Scotty? Yes, sir. We're going to start with Defon from Cleaning.com. Go ahead. Brandon, I want to go back to what you were talking about with Coach Day earlier. You know, whenever he talks about this team success, he says all the credit goes through players. It seems

like the players think that he deserves some of the credit. How big? How influential has he been, you know, in the turnaround you guys have had these last few weeks? He's been a huge man. Coming here after that team of North Laws, you know, it was heartbreaking, of course, but we came in here. We had a leadership meeting and he was in here. I mean, and then we had a team meeting after that. Hearing the stuff he had to say and we had to say going back and forth, we just we knew we we have his back no matter what. I mean, there's a lot of stuff said about him and his family and stuff like that, but hey, here we're a brotherhood and we're a family and we just we go stand by him no matter what. Our next question is going to come from Dan Hope. Dan, go ahead. Brandon, I mean, I'm sure you came in here to Ohio State thinking you'd probably be starting here in your second year, but it seems like you really embraced the growth process. Just what's kind of that process been like for you of kind of embracing your role this season and continuing to develop? Yeah. In life, things doesn't go the way you exactly planted to and that just did happen.

You know, things happened to Mecca last year that allowed him to come back and that allowed me to learn more and that's just how I see it makes me a better football player for the future. So yeah, I mean, yeah, that's it. Three more on Zoom. Next one's going to come from Stefan Means. Go ahead. Steven, but yeah, you're good. Brandon, there are a lot of clips of you this year where you're super, super excited after a block and kind of showing your emotion there. What about blocking do you love so much as a receiver? Just being able to hit another guy with all my power as hard as I can without any consequences. Except if you hold, of course, but yeah, just bringing that power. I mean, I heard some of the defensive guys telling me yesterday there was like, bro, I hate to go against you. So knowing that from the defensive guys,

so I know what the other defensive guys are thinking like, just keep bringing it to them. They're not going to like it for four quarters. That's my mindset. Next question's going to come from Danny Davis. Danny, go ahead. Hey, Brandon, what are your impressions of these Texas defensive backs and this kind of we've seen from them on film, Sapphire? Yeah, the last couple of days we watched them. They're a fast team. They don't give up many big plays downfield. They're aggressive, but I actually know some of the DBs they have at Corndor there. I play with them. Well, I played with Malik Muhammad at SFE, so I might know him a little bit. And we have a watching them. They're a fast team. They're physical. They're disciplined, but we just got to get the job done. Give any Malik stories or any? What do you say? Do you have any Malik stories or anything you remember about playing with them? Oh, yeah, but I'm not going to say them here.

Yeah, we'll just keep that. Our final question's going to come from Kurt Boles. Kurt, go ahead. Hey, Brandon, one of the issues Texas has had the second half of the year is finishing. And what if you can speak to, and they had a trouble, obviously, in the Peach Bowl, you know, blew a 16-point leak? And you talk about finishing and having a killer instinct, and you guys obviously seem to have that now. Yeah, I think that started in off-season training at Fall Camp. We always say, go plus two. If you're doing a 10-yard pro-shut, you have to go plus two throughout the line, and that's just finishing, I was well, and then Fall Camp, we had these long two-and-a-half-hour practices or whatnot, and then we came out, and we had to do these finisher, as we call them, ask for games late in the year like this. And I think Coach Day has a great job preparing all of us for these moments, and yeah, we're ready to go.

We have time for just a couple more questions in Columbus so we can wrap up with our other two guys. Bill Landis, Kingston, and North? Brandon, I'm sure you'll be on the second touchdown run. It seemed like you took two players out of the play, first with your release, and then with the guy you actually blocked. Is that how it's designed? Or did you get lucky to the guy who decided to take off inside of the release? It's actually designed for me to block the safety and leave the corner 101 with the running back, but I was surprised. The corner actually came in so far in my lease. I think he thought it was a pass. But I think he was the edge of the defense. If you go watch that play, but I don't know, I don't really know why he came in so far, but it helped out for us, and I made my block interior score. Is there any lesson there for like a young receiver watching that, that even if you know on the play, you're not getting the ball, you're intended to block, but you release have to be at all point like as if you're going to go pitch pass. Yeah, definitely. Every little detail matters, and then type of plays, we were in a red zone there, so we say every yard matters,

it's two yards. So the block I made is just a testament to Kyle, Coach Hardline, prep me throughout the week to make that block. And final question, Joy Confend, Columbus, this patch. And it will, and then there's been some of the ball to eat well lately, and some of the special way you guys have opened games, what do you think is this clip for you guys and for him and watching those plays? A lot more confidence, I say throughout the year, we were always there as offense. We had, we didn't quite know our identity, and now slowly, but surely I think we found that, and we're going to keep on rolling, and he's made some great throws, and yeah. I'm sorry, Brandon, I do have one more steep, how do you do the 24-7s for? You and Brandon, there have been opportunities for you to play a huge role on offense, and the number of plays you play in game can differ from one week to the next. But the opportunity is coming sooner rather than later for you to be in every down player.

Just what are the things you need to do in your game to take it to where it is now to be in every down guy? I think there's a lot of things I could work on in my game. I would say continuing to be football smart by IQ, just knowing what the defense is going to do before they do it. My routes always can get better, my hands always can get better, staying in the jugging machine, work ethic, keep on top of it, don't get satisfied with anything I do, and don't get too big, don't get too low, don't get too high, don't get too low, that's what they say. You feel like a guy that the people follow, it seems like, in your mind, even the second your guy that you're kind of working toward being kind of a leadership type guy. I got to have guys that will take that role. Yeah, it's a great feeling, of course. No guys are watching what you do and listening to what you do. But we do that with a lot of players here, not just myself, but the leadership we have on

this team is like no other, and that's why we got so far, I think. Brandon, thank you very much. I mean, I mean, it didn't take to happen really. I mean, I guess you just got to learn everything slowly, of course, there's a lot to learn, but I got a lot of hope. You guys had a very unique experience all the early and early, you got a chance to go to semi-final. Some of you went to the Rose Bowl, there's nothing caught in the national championship game. What was that like? How much did you think that helped you? That was incredible. You just see how other leaders led in that position and just seeing what they did and how they prepared. That's gonna help a lot with everybody. What was the highlight of that time, other than winning the national championship? Was there something that stands out to you? Just being able to trouble and get the meet-up, everybody, meet all the players, everybody at one

and that, and meet all the early and early as that early. I was really just living on your own, you got to be independent. That's pretty much it, though. Do you feel comfortable on that age, trying to get yourself into the college? I mean, of course, there's adjustment, but I'm getting the justice period. Yes, your money is 100% I mean, of course, it's hard to miss my senior year, last year, kind of with some of my best friends. What did you do to you? I think you did my hand right? It was an interview, really. Sorry to say that, sorry, but how did you get your... What's your... What's your... Oh, really? It was just that I was a baby, my dad, my dad and my master, my...

Surely. Oh, like I always... Like, my self. Like, once I was born forever. Why did you invite him to take that? My dad looked up to me and I'm a junior, so I'm going to play for a good game. I think you should be your first name in the bar, right? Yeah. Okay, so, could wear eight, too. You should wear 34, yeah. Yeah, you got two choices. It's a desire that can be addicted for people. You know, I think I fell into that, no way younger age, but super worth that that's not who I am. Did you get it? I watched the last episode of Land Man on the planet, I downloaded it, it's a pretty show. What'd you think of it? A little odd, but I don't know that. His wife seems to be a little like old. I don't know how he handles it.

So this is the ticket show where I'm like, because he always seems to be coming on the camera with all this middle right, so I'm excited to see how it goes. Where did you get your dream? Where did you get your dream? Oh, I thought he'd been a good child. I was surprised, honestly, he seemed like he knew what he was doing. He was like, oh, this is really cool. So, the important question, you say you pay your mom a salary, if you guess, you win it all, since mom will get a pay raise or... I don't know what to talk about that, right? Is there a meeting or something? A meeting? I'll figure it out. I'll go outside. Everybody seems to have been thinking about it. I'm sure he's... As other people, I think it's my final matter. Yeah, well, I mean, first off, I think I'd be doing a disservice to my teammates, but, you know, me even think about what's next. You know, what's right in front of us is an overuse.

And that's another thing I got to tell me. So much grew is just being present in every single moment that I'm in. You know, not looking too far ahead, because I'll trip on what's right in front of me. Again, I just... That's too so, for sure. I hope you're thinking to be thinking about what's next. Did your... Are you at least aware that there's a lot of speculation out there that people are going to throw huge numbers to do to go on the boardwalks and have a season? I mean, right now I'm just not worried about all that stuff. People can say all they want to say, but, you know, I'm just focused on... focused on Friday. Nervous? I mean, I still get nervous, for sure, but I just don't think... I think I do have a good job of just... understanding that. That moment, whatever moment it is that I'm nervous about, it doesn't define who I am as a person, and it doesn't define who I am and God's eyes.

Understanding and knowing that, has just kind of put like this force field of peace around me that I think maybe allows me to be able to be calm in certain situations, but it doesn't... That's not good. I mean, I just love the game so much. And if you don't get nervous or a little bit of work, because I don't think you have that same love, I mean, I've got butterflies since, you know, going into football games since, oh, it's... You know, five, six years old, so I don't know if that feels nice. I'm just... I don't know. It's not... I don't know. You know, football just doesn't mean as much as it did to me back then. I want to tell always of you that much. I've been told, but... I'm just gonna let you go last day. It's gonna be a lot of stay, guys. What? I'm playing as much, so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt,

so I can know, bring younger guys with me, because I've been through a lot. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out here. It's the first time I've heard all these last years. What have you seen from well? Because I don't know, I've actually real forgot about it, because he was hurt. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man out behind you and tied. What have you seen from that experience? Well, it was a workhorse. He goes, take quiet, you go work hard, and that's all I love about him. He focuses, he don't really talk much. He's just going to get the job done, do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. So what would be a successful season? A national championship? A ring? When all the games we don't want to lose anything, we got a mindset that we can't be beat, and we just got to go show it. He's like, that mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year, this year even more so, you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like enough as enough. Does that just keep feeling different? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder, we noticed our last run.

Most of us don't have any years after this, so we got to go go bigger, go home, and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan, but when you look at what they did, they won the national championship, and you guys took them down to the final minute, right? You know what I mean? I mean, you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have been one that came against them. Does that tell you anything about like that, hey, you guys want to win a national championship, but you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year, like you're that close? So I'm saying, we just like work harder. That's kind of a coach that makes a saying, you know, nobody cares, just work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last play, you know, they went on the win in 90. We just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Uh, of course, as you know, it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it.

You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working hard, but then you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing? Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, fresh mirror, I was working as hard as I could, but not look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all, compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, it is at 75. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder. Get the shape. It's like the stem up to you. You got the heart. It's been a thing. The idea of a potential is 15 to 17. I think, I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us.

We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody like online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the D line and everywhere else. So we can last at the long run. Speaking of the light playing, I'm a snap. If you like playing that movie, snap to the end. I should hear it because I don't know. I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that movie. Uh, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a line. I thought like, there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame too or North, those kind of games. Of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald is he got the key. You guys in a second. Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. Y'all you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has a work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6-3.

You're 327. He's 326. Yeah, he's a kind of look at him like my junior. But you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get the playbook. It's really a lot on you, older guys. There's that large group of young guys and then there's the senior in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right, learn all season so they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like, make plays, tackle, and success. That's crazy. It's so exciting to have a work especially with you. It seems like these guys get bigs. Each of the freshmen class is a bit bigger or bigger. Do those guys kind of, it does kind of allow you in the form of the first? Yeah, they definitely need some big dudes. And they all work hard. I haven't really seen much of some of the day too when I'm passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined to have to say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me.

How important this dude, it feels like, there's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defensive tactics, who can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that an inquire maybe for great defense? To have guys like you that have some faults, but also have great feet? I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple, not some championship winners, like, see my North, they got two good, detackled, two athletic detackles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detackles. I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run, and beat those big teams. If you think about this, if there was to fight by the defense attackers, like, what's Georgia, is Jordan Davis and Janet Carter? Let's miss again. It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. If you find it like how, you understand it because you play it, but I feel like some time, I don't know, are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so.

I think they're starting to develop more and more of these freakish detackles. Yeah. Like, in the combine, just now, you seeing those guys, they're moving four to four, seven, eight, and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakish attacks, how do you think you fit into that all of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top-notch when it comes to detackles, but I don't want to get a big head, but I watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have Tate's here. You're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there all the time. Tate, can you become like an artist and it comes into bad end passes? The figure wags kind of thing. When you're going, you're not doing as much a weapon or a weapon. That's the problem. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal in mind? I don't remember how much that last trip, like, you have a goal in mind? How many people on that? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think they're counting. He said it on the... I think they can count some of them, and some of them are just listed.

But I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that goes big. And what we do is a D-line, just affecting the quarter of that. It's anywhere you can. It's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So it's something that you really, really have to work on. You do that with what you do. How fast is it? It's true, and that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You've got to get through your time here, because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that pass rate is down. It takes a little bit. We don't want that. It's a strategy. We're kind of... kind of expected for the... I think I just have like a... like a eye for the ball, kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback, and just... I see him like, load up. I just try to... get in his ways, and sometimes he just throws it to me. I hear it's a... I mean, they get frustrated, but, you know, we're a team, you know. We're just getting better. Yeah. Watch a lot of... A lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. If you got a pick, you're top three backs. You got a pull right now. 102.

Uh... I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you... I'll give you one. I would say... Say, Juan Gibbs, and... I like McCaffrey. Auto. He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. I appreciate it. Who's the best backer this year? Best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing well, Howard. When I'm going to remember most. Uh... We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like... In moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He... Just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. What do you think of James Key? What do you think of James Key? Yeah, he's... He's going to be really good, man. He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one-two punch with them both as well.

They're going to be really good backs. And so James, people's, man. He's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature. And so, man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so, man, yeah. Definitely Ohio State. And, you know, he's a personality and a approach. I'll keep that open to him. He's on the same way. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know. I'm just learning from him as well, you know. I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so, he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so, I think that'll do really good. What's your intensity, man? Just intensity, man. And intensity of the playoffs. Every game, man, it's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher.

So, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day, and come in and work. Just like Ohio State. You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember, even before going through this process, I talked to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. What's your favorite year? What's your favorite year? What's your favorite year? What's your favorite year? Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship. And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing sample Florida, and I'm writing to it. So, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained that, on your performance, I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job. And you know what, you knew it? The Bucking Nears. No, I haven't. You think it's a city of Tampa? Tampa, Tampa, nice. This is a nice city, man.

Really nice. The 40, the broad and the vert. And you've been on races and awesome lockers. Do you speak to your mentality of like when you've got a linebacker, so you're in the shaft, and bigger than you, and you're in ready to swear a lot of those things. Yeah. Yeah, nah, man. It's really all about technique, and then it's all about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told Will I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know. And so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now?

In my game, you can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe it's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. You look like a lot of people are out there. You look like a person. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera shoe. Yeah, man, I have a Camera great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. So, I did your favorite off-screen. You know, you're the only one that's just so smooth. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield.

You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker. And so. Yeah, I say to man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot, I don't know. Every good, I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so, he's definitely, man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. I think it's a match to the end. When he was back on it, what do you want to stand down like? Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity.

And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. It's just, I'm not having something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't. It's not too much, they can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so... The back of the first, Peterson Power and Judgement, is pure effectless. Which aspect can each of those other individuals choose to model for a game from being around power to hands?

Um... Man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Am I just really loved their mentality? Especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man. Um... That boy just... Yeah, that boy just gifted. You know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, stiff arm, and somebody, and shoot, it's a game of 10. And so... You some of the things that he does, he just realizes it's too different than God just did. Um... Shoot, I think... Yeah, man, I think it's just like... He's just gifted, man, too, beyond. And he's just gifted, you know, he's a big back, you know, he's strong, and so, um... You know, he's able to do those things, and so... Yeah, man, it's definitely... You know, I look at his game, and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at his game, and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player.

What's your last one to do? He's like, Julian Sand. Oh yeah, he's gonna be a great back, he's gonna be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate, and so, um... He's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right, just, you know, um... Continuing to grow as a leader, continuing to grow as a player, and so he's gonna be really good for a high state. I know just the quarterback position, um... I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've definitely been vocal, and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um... Ask Julian Sand as well, it's to be that vocal leader, and lead the offense, and lead the team. Shoot, man, he has a build like JK Dobbins, and I kind of see them, you know, similarities in their game as well, and I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights, is great. I remember, um... before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights, like every, every, um...

One of his years here, like four or five times, and so, man, he was such a great back, and um... I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um... James people, I see similarities to both of their games, I feel like they play the same. I appreciate you all, y'all. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you. I feel like I'm in the middle of the road, so I just... I think I got a lot bigger.

I'm like 240, you know, like 244 right now. Last year, I played at like 236, 237. What does it feel like at 244? I don't know, you feel like a almost a different machine out there. Yeah, I don't know. What does it feel like to be running around out there, like you are, but with more, uh... more bad. I just feel like I'm like, like, like more downhill, like stronger, like I'm taking all the bloods better. It's a big... no. Is it daunting? Uh... maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year, and you played quite a bit last year instead of... What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? I just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps, so... But, are you... how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8-stand point? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My, I'm ready for it. The text is open, it's a rematch, so to speak, but it's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the... were an opener of that magnitude?

Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been... we've been emphasizing it a lot, and we know we got coming, so we know we got to do... we've been prepared for it. How are you, just probably working today? I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman, like he ended up hitting the book, he stood in like he advanced, and his measurements was crazy, like he saw it like a saw line to it. Orbel, you said you were ready, right? You know, you're ready. What was that process like during last season? You feel yourself becoming more and more ready for whatever the team needed for you? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was, just whenever I was needed, I had to step up, so I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. What's the difference between feeling this year and the last year? I asked the one more time. How different is that response ability?

That's just the most powerful thing. When it was last year, you knew you were a role player. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way. Last year, I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody you saw me with? What word? I was going to say, Scrabber. When you think of me, you would think of like a bully, like a silver bullet. I don't really bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but. I'm saying that the nickname can be that sort of thing. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm going to say, How does that fit you?

And what are you going to show going about bullying and that kind of stuff? I think it fit me because. I don't know. I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the terms is like, you know, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. That's okay. Does it? You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe? And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like, I just like it's deep. I like how the pressure deep is. I like what you got going on. What was it sad when CJ left the ring? No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for me. No, that's what you want. No. No, that's my dog. So yeah, kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for him though. Well, don't thank you. Go ahead one last question. Coach Deys talked a lot about the guys who played. Some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for, you know, that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own.

How much do you feel that is guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and a lot of some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, yeah, I do feel like I did win a national. But like you said, my role wasn't same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that, like, feeling new beyond feel, a lot more place. Great. Oh, well, thank you very much. I've been using you, you know, that almost at safety role of stuff. How much is it grown that you could put your finger on? Yeah, I was growing immensely. I mean, Caleb, he makes a lot of checks. Latham makes a lot of checks. I listen to them. Whatever they need, if I need to cover somebody, I'll go cover anybody that they need me to do run support. I'll do run support. And it's really what Caleb does, what we do and Latham. It just goes back to Coach G's preparation and everyone's preparation to give us more flexibility. And it doesn't matter who's in those positions. And we can all play every position whether it's covering somebody or running and tackling.

Did you feel like that was the case before the Oregon game? You're saying what I'm saying? I mean, is that something that's been added? It just, you know, rely on a little bit more. Go ahead. Yeah, it did. It was probably the Nebraska game, Megan and more safety reps. And we had a five week to prepare. So I really learned to play book a lot more, even though I knew the playbook, I learned a lot more. Mounting like in debt, you know, so really just after the Oregon game, it helped me a lot to go back to safety. Go to NICU everywhere. Thanks, man. You can both left and right. You guys had a lot of issues of giving up big plays in the passing game of the first game against Oregon. Do you feel like you guys need to do better this time around to make sure that doesn't happen? Just the same same mindset. We got to challenge these receivers. You know, every dog has their day. Maybe some people didn't have their day that game, but we'll look out there and hopefully change the narrative. And we still play with the same confidence, same technique and, you know,

Bill Rebellion, let's miss this batch. And Denzel obviously had a tough game and that one. What have you seen from him and how he's responded? Do you get a sense of from him, how pumped he is for this rematch? Oh, yeah, he's super stoked for this rematch. His preparation has been very good. He's always been preparing, even though it didn't go the way he wanted to go that game. But he just always had his confidence and we're going to see a big game out of him this week. And, you know, I know you guys wanted to play them in anapolis. But the fact that you get to play them at the Rose Bowl, I mean, get a second chance. And people have said, you don't get that very often. How determined are you guys to take advantage of it? We're super, super determined. We watched film. I mean, we've lost a lot of film. The first time we played them, now we've got another six games that they played up film to watch. And it's just, they've grown a lot as a team. Same as us. We've grown a lot. We're not the same team. We were when we played them week one or weeks, six or whatever. But now we're out there and going to play fast, physical and everything like that.

All right, Jordan, we're going to jump to the to assume a question here from Joey Kaufman. Columbus Dispatch. Oh, my bad. Not you, Joey. Cameron T. Robinson, the athletic. Hey, Jordan, you've moved around a lot in the second day in your career. And now kind of getting some many more safety reps. What is it like at this point when, when Walt or Coach Mills comes to you and asks you to do some else and how much can you lean on the experiences you've had moving around when you're trying to learn something new in the middle of the season? It means a lot. We always talk about when this is even being on selfish, whether that's making plays or not making plays or doing your job so another person can make plays. That's kind of what we pride ourselves on. And it's just fun. We've moved around different positions. I'm always up for a new challenge. And a lot of people in the country can't do that. I just hold myself to that standard where I can play any position and excel at it. Okay.

Anybody else need to question? Let me know. But otherwise we're going to go to Austin more of the podcast. Jordan, when you were talking about watching film Oregon, which one do you think is more valuable to you watching that against yourself? You know, seven games ago, even if you've changed or the ensuing six games for Oregon, which one do you put more stock in? Kind of both. For me, I kind of watch what I did, things I did well, things I didn't do too well against them. And their team, the life of scheme has changed. Some players have been out those stretch of games. So I really watched the past game we played. And I know they're going to go back to some of the stuff that they liked, of course. And different games like Penn State, maybe Illinois, they run a lot of men. So just watching, watching stuff like that. Every game matters. So yeah. Jordan, thank you very much. Thank you. I really plan as much. So I just wanted to get more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot.

One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out here. It's the first time I've scored all those last years. What have you seen from Lill? Because I kind of felt like last year we all forgot about it because he was hurt. Now he's running almost a second man out behind you and Ty. What has a workhorse? He goes, stay quiet. He goes work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship? A ring? When? All the games we don't want to lose into thing. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. That mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so. You guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided that that was enough. Does that keep feeling different? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run.

Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home, and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that, hey, you guys won a winner national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just work harder. That's kind of a coach that makes a saying. You know, nobody cares. It's just work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in the 90s. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national title. Of course it is, you know, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it.

You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you can learn. I thought that was working hard and then you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought freshman year I was working as hard as I could, but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. But for stamina is a 16th. And the answer is like, what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, it is at 75. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. So that's the stamina. You got to have it. It's been a thing. Yeah. The idea of potentially the 16th or 17th year. I mean, I have about that idea that's making you nervous about, can you last that long? You're really worried. You're worried, right? I think, I think we, I definitely can last.

You know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps a game. That's just too much on our bodies. Uh, just everybody's like, online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and online and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of the light game, and then snap, if you like playing that knee snap again last year, I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that next. Oh, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a lot. Uh, I thought like, there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something, but we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or those kind of games. Of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald? Is he got the game? You guys in this second game? Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work, I think. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook, things like that.

You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6-3, you're 3-27, he's 3-26. Yeah, he's very open. I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's got to develop more in getting the playbook. So really a lot on you older guys. There's that large group of young guys, and then they've seen you in your back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right during the all season. So they can play. And not just play, they want to contribute, like make plays, tackle the sex. It seems like these guys get big. Each one of the first in the class is a bigger, bigger. And those guys kind of, those are going to kind of value themselves the first. Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of something day two, and I'm passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard. They're determined to, I just say that.

And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important this dude feels like. There's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defensive tactics, who can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that important? Maybe for a great defense? To have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great secret. I think that is definitely, I think if you look at the last couple of nights in the championship winners, like Team up North, they got two good, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run, and beat those big teams. If you think about that, they're almost defined by the defense tactics. Like, what's Georgia, is Jordan Davis and Dan Carter? What's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins. Tell me more questions. You find it like how, I mean, you understand it because you play it, but I feel like sometimes, I don't know, are people realizing how important defense tackles are?

A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now you see in like those guys, they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakish athletic defense attacks, how do you think you fit into that all of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch the comment. I watch it through the drills. I have tape here, you're like, you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all those times. Tell me, can you become like a artist and it comes back down the passes? The way it's kind of your thing. I mean, when you're going, you're not doing a bunch of weapon or weapon. That's how you work on that. Do you have like a gold one, Marn? I don't remember how many ad-lustries you have. You have a gold one, that's 35. How many can you want to have? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think they've counted.

I think they've counted some of them. And some of them were like just listed. But I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's, uh, goes big and, uh, what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarterback is, anyway, you can. It's just great for the defense, you know, just that little thing you cover in his eye, you know, he might throw it a little bit to the left to our players. So, so it's something that you really, really have to work on. You just, it's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You can take your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen, like, oh, that passed me a few times. We don't have to ask for this style. We're kind of, kind of, kind of expected for the people. I think I just have like a, like, an eye for the ball, kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like, load up, I just try to get in his way and sometimes he just throws it to me. I don't know. I'm your opponent. Do you want to be your high-stake quarterback? You're coming to your bad, dumb fastest. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. Yeah. Watch a lot of,

a lot of different backs, man, they just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs, and you got to go right now, hold the two. Uh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, I would say, say, Juan Gibbs, and... I like McCaffrey. Auto, he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. I appreciate it. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive? I lead out of the yard. That's y'all, that's y'all decision. What do you know about your best player? Playing with Will Howard? What I'm going to remember most. Uh, we're a Howard, man. He's just such a great lead, such a great leader, man. It's just like, in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man, he was just always calm and relaxed, man, and he, just the leader that he was, man, that's one thing I'm going to remember about him. What do you think James P. Well, yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man. He's, um, Coach Lock,

I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia, just that one two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James P. was, man, he's smart, the way that he goes about his business, man, he's a good player, and so, man, he's growing, you know, just as a person in as a player, and so, man, yeah, definitely, Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. It was right there, like I'm looking at the U.S. body, but I'm just having a personality and a approach that I'm looking at, and so, yeah, um, Coach Heartline, man, he's full of energy, man, and um, he's creative as well, you know, I'm just learning from him as well, you know, I'm trying to run more outside the backfield, it was being able to learn from Coach Heartline, so, he's definitely creative at what he does, and he brings a lot of energy to the team as well, and so, I think that would do really good. Straight away, do you have a way out for the right turn? That's what my strength is, is that all you need? Um, just the intensity, man, then, intensity of the playoffs, um, every game, man, it's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher, and so, um, you know,

being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing, even if it's not the playoffs, just every game, and then, intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher, and so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day, and come in and work, just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State, they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that, you know, I just remember, even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players, um, before then, and they told me a lot of just about, how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL, and so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off, um, national championship, and then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing, writing Tampa, Florida, and I'm right to it, and so, um, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at, um, your performance, I think it's called the House of Athlete, or the Compound now. Um, they did, they did a good job, man, they're just, um, bringing us in, and the way they went about training us, man, they, they did a really good job. Have you met any players?

The Bucking Nears, no, I haven't. We think it's City Tampa. Tampa, Tampa, nice, this is nice, City, man, really nice. Uh, the 40, the broad and the vert. You've been, uh, raises an awesome locker, and these beat-tier mentality of like, when you've got a line back, or something, you've been a cat, and you've been, you've been ready to swear a lot of those things. Yeah. Yeah. Nah, man. Uh, it's really all about technique, and then it's all about mindset as well. And so, um, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother, it's for the love of Will Howard, it's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter, just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. Um, and I, I told Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's, uh, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know, um, and so, um, I don't know if, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, um, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside

and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now when you need to. In my game, uh, you can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe, uh, it's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job at that my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. So, you know what I did? Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, you know, it looked like, I'll let you borrow out there. You get back to nursing. You can get back to nursing. You can get back to nursing. Uh, I did meet with New Orleans as well. Um, I never got that comparison. Actually, um, I know I have a Camarra. Sure, yeah, man, I have a Camarra. Great, great back, man. Um, just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. So, did you play rock? Yeah. Yeah. Um,

inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And, um, I'll say the next one is probably, just an option route out of the backfield, you know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker. And so, Yeah. I say it, man. The biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man and the way that, man, um, he approaches the game. He comes in with the monster. You know, he's going to work every single week, you know, every practice, you know, he's working hard, you know, even shooting. I don't know. Every gig, I think he had a, every game was a good thing to do. Yeah. I say the man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man in a way that, man, um, he approaches the game. He comes in with the monster, you know, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day, he's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so, he's definitely, man, he's going to be a special player, man. He really is.

Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, um, and I have something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't, it's not too much, they can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, um, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, you know, in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And, um, when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, um, he gives you, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, um, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't, you can't explain, it's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so, you know, the back of the firm, uh, Peterson Howard and Judge Alexander, who are affected. Which aspect, the future,

those other individuals, who are to come and stand and be around Howard. Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Um, I just really love their mentality, especially, um, Q as well, you know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man, um, that boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes, he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, you know, he's just gifted, man, too, you know, he's, he's a big back, you know, he's strong. And so, um, you know, he's, he's able to do, he's able to do those things. So, um, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game, and I want to, you know, the same time, I want to learn from Quincham, you know, I want to look at his game, it's like, man, where it was, I want to learn from Quincham, you know, I want to look at his game, you know,

I want to look at his game, it's like, man, where it, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man, I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last, what's your tweet? Julian Sand. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man, he's so, so accurate. And so, um, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, um, continue to grow as a leader, continue to grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for our state. Uh, I know just the quarterback position. Um, I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um, ask Julian Sand as well. It's to be that vocal leader, and lead, um, and lead the offense and lead the team. Thanks, you guys. Thanks, you guys. Thanks, you guys. Thank you. Thanks, you guys. Shoot, man, he has, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And, um, I kind of see them, you know, similar, he's in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back, um, I feel like he's not talked about his none. Um, a lot, but man, his career here,

you watch his highlights is, is great. I remember, um, before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every, um, one of his years here, like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And, um, I feel like, you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um, James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all. You all, you all, you all, you all. You can do that. This.

This. This is what I really, uh, I don't really like it. It's the one. It's the one. It's the one. The, um, you have to ask, well, don't take it to the, you have to. You're not, it's the one. Well, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not. It's the one. I'm not, I'm not. I'm not. It's the one. Okay. I'm just really the same way. It's taking a very rough physically. How different are you? Weight wise, body wise on that from the year ago. I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240. You know, like 244 right now. Last shot, I played it like 236 to 37. What does it feel like 244 or build? You feel like almost a different. Machine out there. Yeah, what does it feel like to be running around out there like you are, but with more

back? I just feel like I'm like, like, like, more downhill, like stronger. Like I'm taking a lot better. It's a big move. Is it don't think, maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year and you played quite a bit last year instead of playing. What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? This is going to get ready to just play 30 more snaps. How much are you looking forward to it from an 8-stand point? I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch. It's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for it? We're an opener of that magnitude. Yeah, we're an opener like that. We've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming, so we know we got to do it. We've been preparing for it. I already just probably worked with him.

I think Raleigh ready to play right now. He advanced freshman. He ended up hitting the book. He stood in like he advanced and his measurements was crazy. He saw it and saw it. I feel like you said you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Did you feel yourself becoming more and more ready for whatever the team needed for you? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. What's the difference between feeling this year and last year? I asked a little more time. How different is that responsibility? That should be that you could just go all that. If it was last year, who knew you were going to play? I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year.

But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. What work? How's everybody working? I say, describe my game. I say, when you think of me, you would think of like a bullet, like a silver bullet. I don't really know bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. I don't think I'm going to be my nickname. I'm not saying that the beat that's a little bit. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like. How does that fit you? And what are you enjoying about it? How do you like to play in that kind of style? I think it fit me because I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom.

We're moving around a lot of the terms. I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that. That's okay. You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe. That's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on. I just like it's defense. I like how it's pretty different. I like what you got going on. What was it, Sadwin? CJ left the ring. Now I wanted to say that. I was kind of happy for him. That's what you want. No. No. No. No, that's my dog. I'm going to say yeah. Kind of missing a little bit. I'm happy for him. I don't think you. Go ahead one last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played some last year but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own. How much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year but will be in this bigger goal and I want to sum your your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like.

Yeah, I do feel like I did win a national championship but like you said my role wasn't the same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that like feeling with me be on the field, a lot more place. That's right. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. Thanks for your feedback. I'm sure I feel it and I'm actually going to use it that you can have some still sometimes like basketball. I want to be on that just like the fed but you know, you got to stay in the stage playing some balls. Exactly. Yeah, that's a very question. I mean, I don't think I feel like these two can answer that for the beer right now. I think KK here will answer that. Well, I don't know what I don't know what to say about that. What do you guys think? I don't know. I don't know what to say about that. What do you guys think? I don't know. I don't know. I go against here every day. You know, this man is strong. Ready? I'm talking about like you have to pass the ball. You sound like you can just do it. I know a few of the colors really fast. Just the overall strength is ahead. And he got the grip. He doesn't give up on the play. And like you said, he's going to go in there and watch the film.

He's doing everything better. And then he's going to see it on the beer line. But he's going to like this one. So now it's not considered a good one at the game. You know, can you just follow us around all the time? You sound like a coach, man. I sound like a coach. I'm just going to shoot a coach in full swing. I'm just going to shoot a coach. I'm just going to shoot a coach. I'm just going to shoot a coach. You know, can you just follow us around all the time? You sound like a coach, man. You sound like a coach. Shoot Kelly's in full swing. You're in your mind about maybe like the idea of tackle versus guard. Yeah. Because obviously his offensive predelictures were like offensive blind play. That's you can apart from you settling in the guard? That's um, I want to say maybe I don't know. But I mean, when I first heard he got the job, I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo. I can run with the tempo, you know what I mean? I'm playing basketball all life in 7 football and I feel like just the fast pace off and so we're running. It really fits the guys we have right now on the early side of the game. I know you can throw a football exercise. You can kick a football, 75 yards and a blink of a step. All right.

Probably question. Lincoln, what was your question? How is your um, your roommate? He's a blessing, man. I can't complain. He's a great guy. What's his name? His name's Lincoln. Keen Holtz. Who's Klaner? Oh, who's Klaner? I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of picked each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our burns really messy. Well, it's true though. It's the truth. They're both pretty clean, so. Luke, are you still a cross-training at Tagel some or have you just been all-dark this time? Uh, so far I've been all-dark. Um, I really don't know. Like I said, I'm taking the practice, but practice. I could end up being back at Tagel I could not, but you know, I'm just really focused in on this past practice and the next one is fun. What do you mean? You want to go to Tagel? Yeah. Oh, that mean a lot. Um, you know, you put a lot of work in to play here. And it's been a dream just for being in Ohio kid. I'm from a Ohio kid's perspective. I mean, that's the biggest switch possible out of, I would say.

That's, that'd be pretty cool. What was it like just last year at first game getting on the field for the first time? It didn't, like, this is gonna be a weird answer, but it feels like I was playing a game yet, if that makes sense. I did. I was pretty locked in. I felt like just no anxiousness, no stress, no nothing. I just went in that first game, was like, shoot on here now, it's time to roll, you know? It didn't really hit me. I was like, it didn't even hit me after. I was like, no mom was like, what'd you feel there? And if like, getting out there at Indiana, I was just like, honestly, I don't know. I felt less nervous than I did in high school and it makes no sense. What did you see better than that in the sky? A lot. I mean, I'm learning from Josh Aniston. I think prior to one of my biggest role models here is my bigger brother and my first name. Tell him I'm a PD in? No, I don't know. This is a PD in Austin. Yeah, no. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, PD in Austin, those are my guys, man. I mean, even Miles too. I mean, all three of them. Those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on. And I'm excited to see where they can get to.

I'm excited to plan and feel with them. Oh, yeah, you know, it's been really helpful. You know, just keep in my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play. What do you think of Vegas? It's a great question. Like I said, I mean, I just need to stay consistent in my work. I think that's the biggest thing for me is just taking system and worry about the next play. So you got it from the guy you were in the play? Yeah. Wow, that's weird. Yeah, I guess they didn't want to get my nerves up, but like I was ready. I mean, I did, I took most of the ones, reps off camp and I mean, I was already, I was pretty much it. Yeah. I wasn't really nervous to start the game. What was his advice to you? Yeah. He said, you got it. You mean, you're going against Ty League and Ty, every day in practice, I mean, it's not different. Almost different. I mean, now both teams are going to be in the same position as a player, you know, having that under your belt. I mean, I'm more confident.

I know what's going on. I can see, like, I can see what's going on with the defense. I know what's going on. I know what's coming. I mean, I understand the game's a lot better than what it was. Which adds up to what? Fast, fast, fast, fast, and then, etc. Yeah. You playing with that dust for a while? I mean, if we get out early, it's, you get the defense change in place. It's a lot of changes. They're the defense. They start fast. I mean, they're trying to get the call and then play, but you start fast. I'm not going to back and touch a lot of touch on this. Yeah, of course, Dave is pretty much dead, though. You deserve to play, man. You know, in some formal fashion. What would you expect this week in terms of your role? Wherever they need me, if it's left right, wherever it's, I think it's going. I go in and go to do the front of me. I'll play in tackle. Took me back to high school days, but I should back in high school. I wasn't really random all the way. Really doing passes, but it was fun. Change got my, made my feet better, I would say. How confident you feel like you could play there if you need me?

If they want me there, I'll guess I'll play there. I mean, they need me. They need me. Also in the illness that swept through the office of the line room. A lot of times, coaches and players have said that that was still relying for the groom. Getting you experience among others. What was that like for you and double-diffing playing some tackle, playing some guard, the same practice. It was based on a group effort. We knew we had guys out and we just had to go back practice. All five guys, wherever they were playing, we just got to go. How much of that accelerated your development, like that time with the ones you were actually doing? They really did. I was jumped in there. I didn't really know. We wanted to practice with practices, but after those, I was like, you're my confidence grew. It seemed like there was sort of a settling in process for you and the Akron game. Maybe play got better if the game went on and it really needs to be. Especially in the ground game, things seem to take off.

Was there a moment when it clicked on the field for you? Was there nerves? And then a time of settling in? I guess how, taking you through that first game mentally? Yeah. First game, obviously you're going to have nerves for the first time in a starter. But then after the first couple of plays, meaning you have nerves naturally. So that's the first couple of play that I was good and I was rolling. Also, there's a weird meaning for the first time in a striker player. I was saying it was also the first start. Yeah. But I prepared well and camp and practice all week. And I was ready. I have two multi-year starters. I did a lot. I mean, I could ask them, hey, what we got here, but I was prepared well. I mean, I was telling Jimmy and said, hey, we're going to block. It's not the emotional side of it. What is the guy from Ohio? What does it mean to start a game?

It was always my dream to come here and play and start. And having that like, I mean, I just keep going and keep building those days. And go to games and keep building. What a much younger Austin, do you have people coming to you with that? No, not really. I don't think even I told my life mate, I asked my younger self, even committing it. I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts. Awesome. Has this happened faster than you had been building these days? I guess you're technically a sophomore. No, I knew that year two, I was going to see you some playing time. Now starting week one, year two, I didn't see that, but I was ready. I didn't spring ball. I knew I was going to play some soccer. What does it mean to you to not only get the opportunities to play, but to like you play well enough now, and coaching staff trust you, and maybe get the book out there, whatever the situation is. So that there aren't that so early on in your career.

I guess it shows like my preparation, my hard work, and just everything I put into this. And I just finally show it up on the field. There are moments, the top season, the end of the spring, and the end of the season. I realized that you could play at this high level, with the ones, you know, 188. Yeah, the definitely was in training camp. I mean, blocking highly can tie every day. Like it feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting balled or anything. There is defensive tag wasn't that easy. Hero in Jason Moore in Taiwan. All those guys, pretty much anyone on the deepened line gets your face out of time. And Kay and Mack as well. Yeah. We've heard a lot about it. I've worked with Paul about this ability. That's a great thing to learn. How much can he help you? He helped me a lot. And I'm proud that he's our starting center, not someone else's, but I mean, he's like the captain of the line.

He's another voice on the line with guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons, Donnie and Tiger. He's another voice and another captain. Look, ways of having that, and I'm with this much experience helped during the game in the middle of the line. I mean, a lot. He can tell you, like before the play was going on, like how to block someone or like what you need to do. And it helps a lot. Tiger is talking about how calm he is going to start, you know, very quickly. How much does that benefit you? You have a guy who's kind of been there and seen a lot of us. It's just us more calm, like especially me and Dave, that's our first start. So like we were up here with what's said, like he brought us down and we were like fine. Like our emotions weren't high. We settled in. Is that like something he tells you? Is that something you pick up on by how he's acting? How do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to do? It's by how he's acting. And what I mean, him when we're on the side of him, both Josh Donnie, like he was telling us, like, hey, we're cool.

Like we got it, but it's pretty much like everyone. Oh, cool group. How much do that as a first time starter? How much at the end that mean a lot? That was my first time ever using iPads. We didn't use the iPads in high school, but I mean, you can say like try to remember the defense. You can just come on a silent and bring up a play and get help. Really. Probably the first or second, but after the, I thought we say all right. So, it's not a great question. Awesome. Thank you very much. It seems like training part is a part of the time. They're getting bigger and stronger. Yeah. It's like the culture part. Yeah. How much of the fact is that part? It's, it's also it's a lot. I mean, it's, I feel like you can't be able to transform your body like I like I have or like people here come and do that without having that mentality part with it. Like we, we always talk about competitions here and our, our culture is fights.

So we're always here to compete. I feel like that is just, that's what gets you in this mindset. When you talk about that transformation, can you just give us a little sense maybe with numbers or body fat or like what you do in the weight group? How big is that transformation? I don't have really specific numbers, but I just like, it's more just like I can just, I feel like feeling when I'm playing. Like I remember how it felt to play when I just got here and now I know how, how it feels to play like, like, like just today. Like it feels physically different on my body. And it's like, it's, it's, I'm getting used to it, that makes sense. Almost, you guys, I can't imagine feeling like that. Padilla also said about you that you are just a completely different guy from last year. We're here to work. Let's get it done. So you're here. Do you feel like you weren't at that place mentally? I think I was, but I think I had some, I would say like, kind of like confidence issues, like I was just, but you know, I mean,

I work past it and I know I can, I know why I am and I know I can be here. So if you have confidence issues, how do you get through it? Is it yourself, is it teammates, is there someone in the family that makes you believe that you can do it? I know I can do it. It's not like that's, those are, those are all, it's on the past now. Did the past play time in the very obvious opportunity? Guys had the stuff up with me on the business. That helped you get over that confidence issue there because it's now or never since your opportunity. So, kind of, it's just like, just, I mean, it's just being here. Like I feel like being here every day, working with the guys every day, it's just like, you know, you become this person that you might not have like, you might not have felt like you were before that. Like coming here, working every day, stacking these days, like, you know, I just feel like I realized who I am and I know what I can do now.

Well, I wanted to be on the top of this world, but are you, this is the second type of adventure stuff that you actually belong to here and you've been. I knew, I knew I could play here. I mean, it's just, it was like the, like, I just, I don't know how to explain it. I just, like, I've always known I could play here. It's just, I'm just, like, let's go. Like, I'm ready, like, I'm ready to attack. What are guys doing to help you to get that out? First shot, I think KJ was a big influence, Ty Hamilton, Ty League, they all, they all helped me a bunch last year, kind of just pushing through, you know. I really plan as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it like the first time in Sfordall. What have you seen from Lill? I don't know, I've never really ever got about it because he's heard. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man up on you and Ty.

What have you seen during the adventure? He's going to work hard, he's going to work hard and that's all I love about him. He focuses, he don't really talk much. He's going to do the job done, do the job right. He rarely has any mistakes. What would be his accessible season? A national championship? A ring when all the games we don't want to lose in the thing. We got a mindset that we can't be beat and we just got to go show it. It seems like you guys expect the national championship every year, this year even more so you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided that nothing's allowed. Does that just keep feeling different? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home. So it's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute.

Right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys won a winner national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just work harder. That's kind of a coach makes a saying, you know, nobody cares. It's work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in 90s. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought that was working hard, but then you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college.

And I thought, fresh me, I was working. It's hard as I could, but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. The stamina is a 16. And the answer to what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. So I just, you know, it's been a fact. The idea of potentially 16 or 17 years. I'm sorry about that idea. There's a make you nervous about. Can you last that long? You're worried. You're worried. I think. I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody's like online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the online and everywhere else.

So we can last that long. Speaking of life plan. If you like plan, I mean snap to get. I don't know if any of us were really expected. Oh, yeah, I did unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or North, those kind of games. Of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Taden McDonald and the seed guy that you guys have listed on the second game? Oh, yeah, definitely. Came back as a came back to Animal Yard. You haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's grown right now. He has to work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook, things like that. You guys are about the exact same size listed. You're both listed at 6th or your 3.27. He's 3.26. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, came out here. He's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and getting a playbook. So really a lot on you older guys.

There's that large group of young guys and the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right during the all season. So they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like make plays tackles. It's a stage out of our concentration. Thank you. It seems like these guys get the figures. Each one of the freshmen class is looking bigger and bigger. Do those guys kind of, it doesn't kind of allow you in the cell at the first? Yeah, there definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too. I'm not bad at all. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard. They're determined. I'd say that. And it looks like they're ready to work to make it. How important this dude is. It feels like there's a lot of great defenses that you have big athletic defense attacks that you can eat up space. The ball moves right through this.

Is that an inquire that maybe for a great defense? To have guys like you that have some balls, but also have great fingers. I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of not in the championship winners, like team of North, they got two good, uh, detacled, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia. Two athletic detacles. So I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they're going to be defined by the defense with actors. Like, what's Georgia? Jordan Davis and Jennifer Carter. Let's miss you again. It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions for you guys. How, I mean, you understand this was your play. But I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now you see them like those guys. They're moving forward to 478s and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakiest out there, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player?

You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles. But I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have a tape here. You're like, you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all this. I think you become like a artist when it comes to bad young passes. I think the way I extend your things. When you're going to bring practice, you're not doing as much a weapon or the weapon. I'm not going to stress. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal in mind? I don't remember how many that last year. Like you have a goal in mind? How many people in mind? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that. But I think they've counted. I think they've counted some of them. And some of them were just listed. But I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that goes big. And what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter. That is, anyway, you can. It's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covered his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So let's something that you really, really have to work on.

You can do that with what you can do. It's a theory that's one of the things that you can make me work on the most. You can do it in your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Oh, that pass. We just do that. We don't have to ask. It's kind of expected. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he's throws it to me. I hear it. If you want to be a high state quarterback, you can put your bad dumb passes. I mean, they get frustrated, but you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. I should lot of a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to pull right now. One, two, two. Uh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Auto. He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey.

Who's the best back in this drive? I lead out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players say, fold, man, he was just always calm and relaxed, man. He just the leader that he was, man, that's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man. He's on Coastal like I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man, he's mature. And so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man, he's full of energy, man.

And he's creative as well, you know, just learning from him as well, you know, trying to run more outside the backfield was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Just intensity, man. And since he had the playoffs, every game and it's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher. So yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work. Just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple days off after the national championship.

And then shoot right after that, I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so yeah, I think while I trained, I trained that your morph performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man, they did a really good job. The bucket near, no, I haven't. Temple, temple nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and the vert. I'm trying to make a great season awesome locker. Do you speak to your mentality of like when you've got a linebacker, do you have a gap? Do you think you can train it's more of a locker? Yeah. Yeah. No, man. It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receiver. It's who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked.

And I tell Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit. You know, and so I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game. You can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like it's more so. You know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Some people say you look like an LLL out there. You get back in nursing every day. I did meet with New Orleans as well.

I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camarro. Sure, yeah, man, I have a Camarro. Great, great back, man. Just what he does and knows, one on one matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. So, the mid-jump flavor of it is a little bit dull. It's a little bit too physical. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that line backer. And so. Yeah, I say to man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard, you know.

Even shoot, I don't know, every good, I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so, he's definitely, man, he's going to be a special player, man. He really is. I'm starting to read out some entries. I think it's a massive thing. And when he looked back on it, what do you want to stand out for? Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, um, not have something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't, it's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, um, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And, um, when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, um, he gives you, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, um, even in those moments, man,

where it's so hard that you can't, you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so, you know, the back goes from, uh, to power and judgment, to the spirit of that good. Which aspect, the future, those other individuals, like you, are talking about, uh, from being around power and judgment? Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Um, I just really love their mentality, especially, um, Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham and TalliD, man, um, that boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, he's running through somebody, still farming somebody and she, this again, a 10. And so, do some of the things he does, he just realizes two different guys. Yeah. Um, shoot, I think.

Yeah, man, I think it's just like, he's just gifted, man, too, beyond it. He's just gifted. You know, he's, he's a big back. You know, he's strong. And so, um, you know, he's, he's able to do, he's able to do those things. And so, um, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at his game and it's like, man, where, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better. Man, I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last two tweets? Julian Sand. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, um, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, um, continue to grow as a leader, continue to grow as a player. And so he's going to be really good for high state. Uh, he's, I know just the quarterback position. Um, I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've, they've definitely been vocal. And so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask Julian Sand as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the, um, and lead to offense and lead to steam. Thanks, right?

Shoot, man, he has, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And, um, I kind of see them, you know, similar, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins. He was a great running back. Um, I feel like he's not talked about his, no, um, a lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is great. Um, before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every one of his years here, like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And, um, I feel like, you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um, James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they played the same. So, appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's stronger than I'm taking all blocks better. It's a big. Yeah. Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year and you played quite a bit last year instead of what you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more. Yeah. I think you're ready to just play already more snaps. But are you, are you, how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an evening? Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My, I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch. So, but it's not really two different teams. Compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah. What an opener like that. We've been, um, we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming. So we know we got to do. We've prepared for it. Already this probably. I think Riley ready to play right now. He, he advanced freshman like he ended here in the book. He stood in like he advanced and his measurements was crazy.

Like he saw like the silence. Or like you said you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? The team needed to do that. Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready. Is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that feeling this year. I asked a one more time. How different is that responsibility? All that was last year. New year. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing.

It's probably a little bit more. And what word? I was going to work your watch. I say. Scrab my gun. I say like when you think of me, you would think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet. I don't really but I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play a thing. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but I'll say that the big thing to be. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's it. I'm more questions for a nutritious style and how it's free. I mean, how does that fit you? And what are you and you're worried about? What's the whole thing in that kind of style? I think it fit me because I don't know. I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the terms is like, you know, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. That's okay. Does it?

You can go on your instincts a little bit more. Maybe that's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like. I just like it's deep. I like how the pressure deep is. I like what you got going on. That was a sad one. Now I want to say that I was kind of like happy for you. Yeah, that's what you want. No, no. That's my dog. I'm going to say yeah, kind of missing a little bit. I'm happy for you. Well, don't think you go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship. You guys will win your own. How much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and a lot of some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like. Yeah, I do feel like I did win a national, but like you said, my role wasn't the same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field, a lot more place.

Thank you very much. I'm so unique offense compared to NFL, especially with the way he uses receivers. How do you anticipate your role? How do you view the offense from a receiver perspective specific? Yeah, I mean, I think he likes to really push the ball down the field. He likes to be balanced. He likes to give different looks to a difference. You know, we're going to not to try to get too much into it, but you know, we're going to use emotion, move some guys around and things of that nature. I think for myself, I feel comfortable playing any of the positions that is that is asked whether it's the slot, the outside positions and unique part about our offenses. I don't think necessarily you play the X or the Z because the pit on the formation of the hash, you can be the opposite. You can be the X, but then you're to the field now you're the Z. So you got to really learn the entire concept and know where you're out in the field, which I think makes everybody smarter players because you don't pigeonhole yourself. I just play X, you know, I only know this position. Like you get in two minutes, you're the Z. Now you got to know what to do.

You may have the clear out router. You may have the backside dig. Like you got to know what you're doing. So I think he doesn't just say like we're going to do this offense. He's really trying to create an offense that hits our personnel really well. That that field boundary thing. Yeah, that's a thing in college, but it seems like it's more unique to clip. Is that something you're used to seeing in other offenses? Yeah, definitely. I mean, I think if if I'm on the left hash, like technically, I'm the X, you know, I'm in the boundary, but if we're on the right hash, I'm still on the left side. I'm really the Z in the concept because I'm to the field, I'm to the strength of the tight end. So I've been in offenses like it's similar like that before. And you know, I just think he one thing I think that's really stood out as the compliments of our routes that we have so far. I feel like we have a chance to really run similar stems, but there's different routes off those stems and things like that, which I think for receiver like myself who. You get, you know, a really good look at DBs and they study your film.

They study your splits, like having routes that look the same, but break off at different different angles is extremely important because it feels like you have some versatility in your bag to go out with versus like you got this hit you again. You're back side like that's all you got, you know what I mean? So, yeah, he's just been a really good player, person to work with and he's been really communicative with the leaders and how we want this offense to look like in some of the ideas that we may have as well. So it's been a really cool transition. You talk about the transitions, you've learned offense in three years, probably your fourth and sixth years. Yeah. How do you not kind of build up some barriers? Yeah, man, I got to do this again. Right. I think, you know, human nature is always a factor in whatever you do in life, but I think I try to make a conscious choice of coming in with a new year mentality each and every year. And I think it's easy because we've had so many changes and it's been great working with Marcus and Jaden and Jeff and Sam, all of everybody.

Like it's been great with working with all the quarterbacks and I just have a mentality and not really being complacent. Like I try to really focus on the things that I can come back better at this year and I've been working my butt off to do that. So I think the easy thing and when I was younger, you're like, dang, like you just want that consistency. You know what I mean? Like you want that something you could depend on, but like life isn't, life isn't always like that. So I've been reinvigorated because of just the energy that DQ brings into our building each and every day and the coaches as well. Like it's fun competing, you know what I mean? And sometimes I could get lost in the grind, but I think the reason why you make it here at this level is because you fall in love with the competition of it. And I think the competition breathes the success because that is really where you, the iron truly sharpens the iron. So you know, other guys are going to make plays, but you get excited to go in there and know that the next day we're going to go right back after the defense.

So for myself, I'm just looking forward to continue to grow with the quarterbacks that we have. I mean year six now, which is extreme blessing and one of the leaders in our room and I just try to take the bull by the horns with that. And so that's really been my focus and you know, I'm excited for another year. Plus it's looked like you're being more vocal on the sidelines to help young guys. Definitely something you decided this offseason or? I think that's been a part of my maturation process as a leader. I've always seen myself as somebody that was a leader by example. But from coaches and other teammates I've had over the years, guys like to hear what I have to say for whatever reason sometimes. I think the biggest thing where I've tried to figure out where I fit in with my vocal leadership is I never wanted to be like a dictator. You know what I mean? I never wanted to tell guys what to do or be a yellow or things like that. Like when I say something, I wanted to have power. I wanted to have meaning. And I hope you know, the guys would feel the same way if they were to ask them that question.

Because I want to see all these guys win, man. Like it's hard to make it in this league and stay in a career. And so anyway, I could help the receivers, the DBs. I'm talking to some alignment. Johnny who's who's rehabbing his foot. You know what I mean? Like everybody has a role and everybody has a different story and path. And so if I could share what I've been through my testimony to help them or do things that kind of slow down the process, I'm going to try to do that because we need everybody from the rookies to the 10 year vets to make this thing work. So more so I try to speak to what I know and really those honest conversations that I try to have with guys, what they know I'm coming from a good place. And I think I'm out of type of guy where I'm just going to talk and at them. Like if they see something, like I could take a coaching point from Luke McCaffrey. I think I can take a coaching point from Deami from Jahan from Marcus from anybody. You know, like I think that's what makes you a great player when you can really be coachable from anybody and not take it from a personal standpoint.

Hi. Good. Going back to what you were saying about Cliff and how is he as a teacher in teaching all this? Yeah, I mean, I think he does a really great job of making things simple, first and foremost, he doesn't over coach. And I think that's the trust that he has in our group and his coaches, our position coaches to fill in the details. So we'll have an install meeting and it'll be a good amount of time. But then our position coaches will have time and we'll make it specific to that position. And so then we'll come in and have a walkthrough. And then after that, we'll have another walkthrough. And so I don't think there's been a time where I've come out here and I'm kind of worried about what I got. You know what I mean? And when you get into certain offices, there could be so many details where you could be overwhelmed. And I think then it forces it kind of separates guys in a sense that like one guy may study more than another guy. But when you have these sessions that we have where we're having an installs in the morning, we're having two walkthroughs and then we're coming on the field and doing it. I think you've noticed a lot of guys are playing a lot faster and more confident because he's keeping it simple. But also he's very particular in what he's expecting. But it's not a lot.

So there's not a pressure of to get it right. But at the same time, you know what's expected of you and you know you're going to have the tools given to you to be successful out there on the field. And this offseason, just the totality of change from front office players coaches, the turf field. Yeah. What what has that been like for you just to see what's going on? It's been fun. You know, I think from Mr. Harrison, the entire ownership group down to Adam Peters, down to DQ, down to Jada, who we drafted and bringing in Marcus and Jeff and all those guys and down to leaders. We have our team. I think it was extremely specific on the way they tried to build this thing going into this year. First, having the right people, bringing in leaders, bringing in guys who love to compete. First thing that DQ said when he came here was in his first meeting, like if you love to compete, this is going to be the place for you. And I love it. You know, I mean, I love bags and going at it with the DBs every day. Like the little mundane stuff can seem a little boring. But that's I think that was the where you make the gains during the offseason where you're really focused on.

Hey, like I'm a I'm a give all I got for this day and I'm a get better. And then I'm a I'm a learn from the film and come back tomorrow and ready to do it again. And he also understands like the benefits of having breaks. Like he's giving us breaks. We've had you know weeks off here and there that we can compose ourselves, but then come back and give it all we got. You know what I mean? And when you got a coach that understands the physicality of an entire season where you guys do need breaks by the same time we're going to get after it. It makes it fun as a leader because you can take that to your room and be like, yo, we got these we got this week. You know, I mean that's extremely important. But you know, we have this little break coming up where you're going to get your your mind and your body and your soul right. So coming into this season, I'm really optimistic of what we can be this year. And I think it started with the foundation that the ownership group and the entire staff has built. And now it's on myself as a leader to continue to hone that in into the locker room. But I think it's great because we have so many great leaders from all across the league who have won and had we got Bobby Wagner in there.

You know, I mean, that's a hall of fame or so like, you know, being able to have kind of guys like that that you can lean on that can sometimes take over that leadership role where it doesn't fall on one person. I think it's extremely refreshing and knowing that everybody's on the same page and the message is the same allows you to go out there with confidence and always expect to know you. Terry, you seem to spend many of your off seasons learning about things beyond football, hobbies, what have you, did you do any of this off season so far? To hobbies or increase your knowledge of this world around you. Some question. Play a lot of golf. That day just keeps my competitive juices flowing. Planning a wedding. That's going well. And I just been grinding like, honestly, you know, I've been hungry this all season. I started working out, you know, pretty early and you start to see guys like coming back and it's just fun to like to be here and competing and feeling like everybody's on the same page, you know what I mean?

And so for me, I'm a grind every off season, but just this one just feels like it's the start of something new and special and the foundation of is extremely important and to be a part of that to have a hand in that. You know, it's an honor, you know, and I put a lot of expectation on myself to come out here and be the guy that I know I'm capable of and also like taking the next step and being somebody that our quarterbacks that can trust and believe in. So this all season was pretty simple for me. It was just really about, you know, working and grinding and getting better. He talked about Jaden before. And so far, I know we haven't seen everything. But in terms of his arm strength, the throws he's making anything surprising so far about the types of his ability in that regard. Definitely. I think after the second or third crosser that he threw, I started telling receivers like, hey, you gotta get your head around. You know what I mean? Because again, each quarterback throws the ball differently and sees the field differently.

Sometimes on crossers, a lot of quarterbacks may like to see you cross the ball and get into that open zone over there if it's a man flattened off. They like to see you get open with him. He has a really good anticipation over the middle of the field where he can make those throws and give you a chance to catch and run. And he's really accountable too. Like we had a play today where he felt like he missed me and, you know, it's not a big deal at all. You know, I mean him and I could talk to those things and there's been a play that I've talked to him about. I could do a better job. But again, like that open that open form of communication from a rookie, I think is very rare. And I think it speaks to the confidence he knows who he is, but he's also not afraid to say when he's wrong. And he knows he needs room to improve. But his touch on the deep balls is amazing. You know, I love getting extra reps after practice with him. We're just catching the top end of a deep ball. That's big for me. You know, I mean, I get to track the ball over my shoulder and it's big for him to be able to get used to dropping the ball in the bucket. But he just naturally has an ability to throw the ball. He sees the windows really well. And now he's just, you know, continue to get adjusted to the speed in the past rush.

I think he's these reps that he's getting are unbelievable during 11 on 11 because he's getting to feel pain and Allen and DA and Cleveland Farrow. Like we got some dogs up there who are going to come after him. You know what I mean? And we got some great guys up front who are going to protect them. And so these reps, I feel like are even better than just seven on seven seven on seven. I think he could do in a sleep to be fair. Like he throws the ball really well. But when you get this 11 on 11, two minutes drill, you're putting them in game like situations. And I'm looking them in his eye. I'm like, we play real ball now. Like we we we playing. You know what I mean? And you just see no no anxiousness in his game and his demeanor, which is extremely exciting. And then, you know, he's extremely light hearted. And he's always smiling. So he's joking with lime and D line. He's just cool with everybody. And like I said, like for a rookie quarterback to come in like that, where guys are gravitating to him. And he's not afraid to be who he is. That's dope. I think he has a bright future for himself. The tough losses, the tough seasons can weigh on a player. You're entering the prime of your career. J.A. kind of mentioned it last year. All he cares about is winning. He wants to win now. Is there a sense of urgency? You obviously always want to win. Knowing that, you know, you're getting to the prime of your career. Like you want to win now.

Yeah, I think that's a fair question. I think, you know, you start to evaluate when you I'm in year six and you know how fast it goes. And I try not to put the cart before the horse were looking too far ahead by the same time. You do want to win. You want to be a part of a winning culture and have a chance to win the Super Bowl and the playoffs and all those things. Like that's why we we do this personally. And I'm just excited with being a part of an organization in an environment where now like everybody's on the same page in the in the messages uniform and it speaks from the top down. And it reflects in the guys that they're bringing in, you know, all the guys that they brought in are guys who are hungry who are competitors who not only fighting for spots, but are going to help us win games. And when you're around environment like that, like that, that makes you excited, makes you hopeful. And, you know, you don't know how it's going to turn out until we start playing games. But the foundation is extremely important.

I think this off season, we've really done a great job of building that they have. And then when a coach Quinn guy here building with this team. So I feel like we're going to be going into this off season really knowing we all got to do individually to become ready for camp. But the message is clear to come back to camp ready to compete and and be ready to win. Thanks, Darry. Appreciate you guys. Yeah, we should. One of the funniest guys on the team right now is playing as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been going around. One of those younger guys we're seeing it. It's the first time it's heard all your life. What have you seen from well because I feel like I should have real forgot about it because he was hurt. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man up behind you and tied. What have you seen?

Well, as a workhorse, he he goes, stay quiet. You go and work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done. Do a job right. Really has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship. I ring when all the games we want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. We just got to go show it. That might be different. Seems like you guys expect the national championship every year. This year even more so. You guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like that. Is that this is a feeling difference or is there not really any difference? It's just the same word. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go go bigger, go home and we're not trying to go home. Finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean?

You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have been one that came against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's that's kind of coach makes a saying. You know, nobody cares. Work harder like those. You know, we'll play Georgia. The same thing. Last, last play. You know, they went on the win in 90. So we just got to get over that hump at them in the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national title. Of course, you know, it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder, do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learned that I thought I was working hard and then you always find out there's a little more. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college.

I thought fresh near I was working as hard as I could, but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder. Yeah, the shape. The idea of the potential is 17 or 17. I think I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play for the snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody like online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the online and everywhere else so we can last that long.

Speaking of that, if you like playing that, you snap the game. I don't know if any of us were expected to play that next. Yeah, I did unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no mommy's, you know, I can go sit down or something, but we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or North, those kind of games. Of course, I wouldn't be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Taden McDonald? Is he got the thing you guys in a second? Yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. You haven't really seen it yet, but in practice he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has a work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th, or you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get in the playbook. So really a lot on you older guys. There's a large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well?

Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right, earn all season. So they can play. And not just play, they want to contribute, like, make plays, tackle, and sense. Each one of the first mid-class is a bigger, bigger, bigger. Those guys kind of, it doesn't kind of allow you in the first season. Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of something a day too when I'm passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I have to say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important is those? It feels like, you know, there's a lot of great defense that you have big athletic defense attackers who can eat up space. But also, you know, right? Is that an inquire maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some faults, but also a great feeling?

I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last couple of nice and championship winners, like team of North, they didn't know they got two that, uh, detaco, two athletic detacos. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacos. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. You think about this, they're almost a five by the defense attack. It's like, what's Georgia? Jordan Davis and Daniel Carter. Let's Michigan is Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. Do you understand how, I mean, you understand it because you play it, but I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense tackles are a little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacos. Yeah, in the combine just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving forward to 478 and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think it when you think about this freakish attack, how do you think you fit into that? All of that kind of player. You watch that and say, yeah, that's me.

Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacos, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch the calm on. I watch the dude to drove. I have to say you like my film. So I think I'm up there. I think you become like a artist. I think your legs have your things when you're going. It's a spring practice. You're not doing as much a weapon. Do you have like a goal? I don't remember. I mean, it's many of us can have. I think I have more than that. But I think they're counting. I think they're counting some of them. And it's some of them where I like just missed it. So, but I think we work on Joe's matching the hand. I think that's goes big and what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter. I guess anyway you can. It's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covered his eye. You know, he might throw it a little bit to the left to our player. So it's something that you really, really have to work on.

It's really, really. That's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You can bring your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that past. We don't have to ask. We kind of kind of expected. I think I just have like a like a eye for the ball. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him. I load up. I just try to get his ways and sometimes he's just those. I'm going to say this. I'm here to do it to the high state quarterbacks. I mean, they get frustrated by you know, we're a team. We're just getting better. I should lot of a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you. I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto. He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey.

Best back in this draft. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead. Such a great leader, man. And moments where usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's shoot. He's going to be really good, man. He's on Coastal like I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man. He's smart. He's got his business man. He's mature. And so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State. You know, that running back room is in great hands. Right. I'm looking at the U.S. spot and put on this top base personality.

I'll keep that up until they get the same way. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well. You know, I'm just learning from him as well. You know, I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. I'm learning from Coach Hartline. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Straight away, and his way to play off-road. That's what we want. What strength did you have to go through? Just the intensity, man. And the intensity of the playoffs. Every game, man. It's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and the intensity it keeps getting higher and higher. So, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it. You know, each and every day and come in and work. Just like Ohio State. You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before then. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them. You know, for the NFL.

And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know I took a couple of days off after the national championship. And then shoot right after that. I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think where I trained, I trained at your birth performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. Bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job. The bucket near. No, I haven't. Temple, temple, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. You've been on the races and awesome lockers. You need to be pure mentality of like when you've got a linebacker. So, you can just have bigger than you and you're in ready to score a lockout. Yeah. Yeah. No, man.

It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Wil Howard. It's for the love of the receiver. It's where I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told Wil I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit. You know, and so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that. But I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You know, you have to hit the front as you feel later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game. You can't really work on this, you know, in all season. I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year.

And so, I just want to continue to build on that. So, you know what I'm saying? Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, people try to look like, I'll let them borrow out there. You get back in person. I can't really remember what I was doing. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera shoe. Yeah, man, I have a Camera. Great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that dang downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. You know, a man in man coverage. You're getting on that line backer. And so. You know, he'll be here in a couple of years. Jeremiah. You'll have to put the target in person. Or tell him just how he's pushing it. He's pushing it.

And that pressure is so much attention. Like I said. Yeah, I say the man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot it. I don't know. Every good, I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. I'm starting in, you know, some entries. I know his master's in, when he went back, when he went to the stand-down. Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, I'm not having something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't, it's not too much.

They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, you know, his moments, where it's tough. You know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort. You know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so, You know, the back of the front of Jesus power and judges, you know, what aspect, which aspect could be to those other individuals who want to follow Him and be around power and strength? Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. I just really love their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quenchiam mentality, man.

That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, the running through somebody, still farming somebody and shoot, it's a game of 10. And so, You some of the things he does, he just realizes two different guys. Yeah. Um, shoot, I think. Yeah, man, I think it's just like, he's just gifted, man, to be honest. He's just gifted, you know, he's, he's a big back. You know, he's strong and so, um, you know, he's, he's able to do, he's able to do those things. And so, um, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quenchiam. You know, I want to look at this game and it's like, man, where, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last experience? Drulin San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, um, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, um, container, grow as a leader, container, grow as a player.

And so, he's going to be really good for how I stay. He's, I know just the quarterback position. Um, I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um, ask him, Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead, um, and lead to offense and lead to steam. I feel like he's going to be a great player. Sure. Man, he has, he has a bill like JK Dobbins. And, um, I kind of see them, you know, similar, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. Um, a lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is, is great. I remember, um, before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights. Every, every, um, one of his years here, like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And, um, I feel like, you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um, James people, I see similarities to both of their games.

I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all. You have a goal. This. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I got coming in last year. I knew we're on the saw. I just attacked Eric Dave. Really the same way. Thanks for letting me. Basically, it's basically a Vangery rep physically. How different are you? Weight wise, body wise, all that from your.

Oh, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, I'm like 240, 4 right now. Last year, I played it like 236 to 37. What does it feel like a 244 or better? It's almost like a different machine out there. Yeah. What does it feel like to be run around out there? Like you are. But with more, more back. I just feel like I'm like. Like. Like more downhill. Like stronger. Like I'm taking all the bloods better. It's big. Yeah. You said don't think. Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year and stuff. What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? I just got to get ready to just play. I already more snaps. But are you. How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8th? I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch. So it's not really two different teams compared to the ones I'm going to play.

How is that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the word opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming. So we know we got to do. We've been prepared for it. Already does probably work today. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he in the book. He studied in like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like the saw line to. You said you're ready. I know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? The team needed. Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing when I say ready? I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that.

You want to do it. You're a bandwagon. That's possible. I asked the one more time. How different is that response? You're. That's. All that. Last year. You knew you were a home. Oh. I feel like it's a. It's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but. I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year it's going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody. Somebody. I. What work? How's anybody working? I say. I say. I say. Like when you think of me, you think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet. I don't really. But I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but.

I'm saying that. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like. I was. How is that. Thank you. And what are you going to do about bullying in that kind of stuff? Oh, I think it fit me because. I don't know. I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the terms is like, no, I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that. That's okay. Does it kind of. You can go on your fan stakes a little bit more. Maybe that's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like. I just like his days. I like how the previous days I like what he got going on. Well, that was sad when CJ left the ring. Uh, now I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for him. Yeah, that's what you want. No, no. No, that's my dog. So yeah, kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for him though.

Well, don't think go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship. You guys will win your own. How much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and along some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like. Yeah, I do feel like I did win a national last year, but like you said, my role wasn't same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling with me be on the field. A lot more place. Great, well Bill, thank you very much. I'm so glad to have a lot of leaders on the D-line and we had the D-Inputition, so we kind of all kind of just count off the children and those. It's been a tough time for me to do this, so I hope it's up to you guys to play with them all. You know, the field is just like the ones we're doing now. It's like, it's going to be like, so you lose place guys. What's that transition? We're competitive, and we love it. We're all competitive people, we all love to fish each other, and that's really the best thing in the best side of all.

We're all just kind of bouncing off each other and seeing what one person does and we kind of build into our actual box, and we all kind of build one great thing. Hey, do you remember last year when you got the shot at the full-back in the boat? And did they approach you with that idea and two coached him? I mean, how did that come about? Because you heard Jackson all year long, right? Yeah, he didn't touch that. So I definitely did it in high school. I was full-back and a little bit of Titan. So I feel like they kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson, honestly. He left, watching it too, before he left. I feel like he planned that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it, and tried to do the best I could to do it. Does that continue right now? Do you need anything to scream? New playbook, I did not know yet. I haven't got that far. How tall is that? You're a little tackler. I like to think of myself as a football player. I can really play any professional in the field. You need me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kit-Jack, you're the same thing.

Oh yeah. Don't want to look at it. We're happy if that's why. I was talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of saw you and got out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back. Just got to win into those real-spectatum and out of that helped you maybe get the right mindset I guess I'm going to be in school. Definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it, how long the season is now, what you got to do to prepare for and what happened and all that time from here to to this. So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected and we kind of just talked man-on-man and he kind of just sat straight to me and I feel like we kind of both were going on. We're making each other better every day and we got the 4 best DNs, 5 best DNs honestly. And we coached for ball and we're going to be one of the best D-Lines and coached for ball. How do you feel about it today and you work in this season? I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and I feel like we're kind of helping out more.

I think we're in a random process to see the TKFC. That sounds bizarre but I mean the season goes by so fast already so when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10. So now it's kind of getting more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it because I'm already here for a really freshness place. But you don't want to spend all your power in the first month of the year right? There is a lot of pace yourself with it. There is a mindset for the season. Yeah definitely definitely going to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practice. How much has Larry talked to you guys around the game? Last question right here. 2016, 2017, 4 NFL defense and 1 dollar and 7. How much does he talk to that guy? I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see him all working together. We know what it could be. We know what we could become. So we know we were right at the same place at the right time and God wanted us to be here. He knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together.

And I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together. It's a special. We plan as much. I just wanted to get more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I think it would be a lot of good. One of those younger guys we're seeing it out there. It's the first time it's hurt all of your thoughts here. What have you seen from Will? Because I should have real forgot about it because he was hurt. Now how he's running, you know, almost a second man out behind you and Ty. What have you seen in the Philippines? Will is a workhorse. He goes, stay quiet. He goes, work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to give the job done. Do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. So what would be a successful season? A national championship. When all the games we want to lose into things, we got a mindset that we can't be beat. We just got to go. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so you guys have all come back for this.

You guys have all decided what the numbers are. Does that feel different? Or is it not really any difference? It's just the same word. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home. We're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's kind of coach makes a saying. You know, nobody cares. Just work harder. Like those, you know, we'll play Georgia. The same thing. Last, last play. You know, they went on the win in 90. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine.

How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought that was working hard. And you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, freshman year, I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all. Compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny. But I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. It's been a thing. Yeah, the idea of potentially the 60 to 70% of your career.

I've even said about that idea. Does it make you nervous about, can you last that long? Do you have worry about what you're doing? I think I'll tell that, I think I definitely get lies. I was just, you know, we gotta get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Uh, just everybody's like, online, DeLine, We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D-line and O-line and everywhere else so we can last that long. Yeah, I did unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no mom's you know I can go sit down or something but we're playing them big games like you know, in order to have those kind of games. Of course I want to be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. Oh yeah definitely. K-MAC is an animal. You haven't really seen it yet but in practice he shows it all the time. He's growing right now.

He has to work at the edges as to get you know in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th grade, you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior but you know K-MAC he's going to be a great player. He's got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guys, there's that large group of young guys and there's the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah definitely we got to be leaders. Like I said we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work and we got to get them right during the all season so they can play. And I just play them when I like contribute like make plays tackle success. Yeah, there definitely some big dudes and then all work hard. I've only seen much of something day two when I'm not passing on but throughout the work hours

they've been working hard you know they're determined. I'd say that and it looks like they're ready to work with me. It feels like there's a lot of great defense that you have big athletic defense tactics that you can eat up space but also move you know right? Is that an environment maybe for great defense? To have guys like you that have some faults but also a great team. I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last couple of nice and the championship winners like Seema North they didn't know they got two good detacled two athletic detacles. Look at Torja two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this they won't defied by the defense tactics. Like what's Jordan Davis and Janet Carter and what's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins. One more question. Do you understand this as you play it but I feel like some time I don't know are people realizing how important defense tactics are?

A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think there's started to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. In the combine just now you see in like those guys they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. And when you think it when you think about those freakish attacks how do you think you fit into that bold of that kind of player? Watch that and say yeah that's me. Yeah definitely I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles but I don't want to you know get a big head but you know watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have to see you like look at my film so I think I'm up there all the time. Do you become like a artist? I think your legs can be clanked. When you're going to bring practice you're not doing as much a weapon of a weapon. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal where you are? I don't remember how much I've last year but you have a goal of my score to five. I mean as many as I can have I think I have more than that but I think he said it.

I'm getting into a council of them and some of them were like just listed so but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big and what we do is a D line you know just affecting the quarter of the against. Any way you can is just great for the defense you know just that little thing you cover in his eye you know he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So it's something that you really really have to work on. I think that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. There are a few guys that I've seen. Oh that pastor just takes a dip. We don't have to ask. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways and sometimes he just throws it to me. I'm irritated to be a high state quarterback. I mean they get frustrated by you know we're just getting better. I should lot of a lot of different backs man and just learn to grow for them.

I don't really have a top three but I'll give you I'll give you one. I would say say Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard that's y'all that's y'all decision. Playing with well Howard when I'm going to remember most. We're Howard man he's just such a great lead such a great leader man. It's just like in moments where you know usually a lot of players they fold man. He was just always calm and relaxed man. He just the leader that he was man that's one thing I'm going to remember about him. What do you think James people? Yeah he's shoot he's going to be really good man. He's on Coastal like I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well they're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man he's smart the way that he goes about his business man.

He's mature and so man he's growing you know just as a person and as a player. And so man yeah definitely Ohio State you know that running back room is in great hands. I was right like I'm looking at the ocean spot and I'm just out the race and personality. And I'll keep that open so they can see me. Yeah coach coach hard line man he's full of energy man and he's creative as well. You know I'm just learning from him as well you know I'm trying to run more outside the back field was being able to learn from coach hard line and so he's definitely creative at what he's he does and he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Just intensity man then intensity of the playoffs. Every game and it's like the intensity got you know higher and higher and so you know being able I know in the lead it's the same thing even if it's not the playoffs just every every game and intensity it keeps getting higher and higher and so yeah you just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio

State you know I definitely feel like Ohio State they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that you know I just remember even before going through this process I'll talk to a lot of players before then and they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them you know for the NFL and so yeah. Yeah yeah I know I took a couple days off after the national championship and then shoot right after that I'm writing right in Tampa Florida and I'm right to it and so yeah I think while trained I trained at your birth performance I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now they did a good job man it just bringing us in and the way they went about training us man they were they did a really good job. The Bucking Nears know I haven't. Tampa Tampa nice this is nice this is a nice city man really nice. The 40 to broad and avert.

Yeah yeah no man it's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well and so I say you know it's for the love of my brother it's for the love of will highway it's for the love of the receiver so I got on the perimeter just make sure you know first of all my quarterback doesn't get sacked and I I told will I think it was before the first game I was like I got your brother it's I said man I'm not going to let you get hit you know and so I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack I'm not sure that but I know if I did I haven't given up too many and so man it's for the love of my brothers though man making sure the ball get in their hands you know the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. In my game you can't really work on this you know in all season I feel like it's more so you know you got to put the pads on you got to go through some inside run you know maybe it's really just continuing to run through tackles and so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game you know I want to

continue to get better I feel like I did a good job of that my senior and so I just want to continue to build on that. Yes I did yes I did. I did meet with New Orleans as well I never got that comparison actually I know I'm a Camara sure yeah man I would come here great great back man just what he does and those 101 matchups he's dangerous man and he's so smooth he's so smooth as well I'm not going to lie he's smooth. Yeah inside zone from stack being able to hit that thing downhill and I say the next one is probably just an option route out of the backfield you know and man and man coverage you're getting on that linebacker and so

yeah I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man and the way that man he approaches the game he comes in with the mindset you know he's going to work every single week you know every practice you know he's working hard you know even shoot I don't know every good I think he had every game was a good game for him man and so but still man he always has the mentality the mindset that you know he's going to come in each and every day he's going to continue to work and get better man and so he's definitely man he's going to be a special player man he really is man a lot of ups and downs man it's just how you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better is this um not have something to lean on now you know I remember before I met him you know going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know you can run to people but they still can't it's not too much they can't truly help you you know I

feel like you know I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ and so being able to lean on him you know he gives you in those moments where it's tough you know where it's low and when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about he gives you he gives you that peace and comfort you know even in those moments man you can't explain it's like man I'm going through this but like how am I still feel with this internal joy you know how do I have so much peace in this situation and so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so the back of the firm is the power of judgements, which aspect to each of those other individuals that you want to follow and from being around power to him um man eight those guys have such a great mentality man I might just really love their mentality especially um Q as well you know I talked about will how are his leadership but Quencha I'm in Tallahidhi man um that boy just yeah

that boy just gifted you know you see you know sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like you know he should have a negative five yards and as soon as you know it you know he either running through somebody step on somebody and shoot it's a game of 10 it's uh yeah man I think it's just like he's just gifted man to be honest he's just gifted you know he's he's a big back you know he's strong and so you know he's he's able to do he's able to do those things and so yeah man it's definitely you know I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from Quencha I you know I want to look at this game is like man where where can I get better at as well you know that's the type of player I am I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last two weeks? Julian San oh yeah he's going to be a great but he's going to be a great quarterback man he's so accurate and so he's definitely man I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right just you know um container grow as a leader container grow as a player and so he's going he's going to be

really good for high state. Uh I know just the quarterback position um I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past they've they've definitely been vocal and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask Julian San as well is to be that vocal leader and lead the lead to offense and lead to offense. I know the game. He has a bill like JK Dobbins and um I kind of see them you know similar similarities in their game as well and I know JK Dobbins he was a great run it back um I feel like he's not talked about his none um a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is great I remember um before I recruit before I committee here I remember watching JK Dobbins like every every one of his years here like four or five times and so man he was such a great back and I feel like you know when I see JK Dobbins when I see James people I see similarities to both of their games I feel like they play the same and so I appreciate you all yeah I'll be going

well I got coming in last year I knew the world so I just tacked Eric Dave really the same way it's really a very rare basically different are you weight wise body wise all that from your oh I think I got a lot bigger I'm like 240 you know like 240 for right now last year I played it like 236 to 37 what does it feel like a 240 for or better you feel like almost a different machine out there yeah yeah what's it feels like to be running around out there like you are but with more more back I just feel like I'm like like like more downhill like stronger like I'm taking all blocks better it's bigger yeah you see don't think maybe that's not the correct term

but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year and you played quite a bit last year instead what do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more this is going to get ready to just play 30 more snaps so but are you are you how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an eight year I'm looking forward to it I'm ready for it my I'm ready for it it's a rematch so it's not really two different teams compared to the ones time y'all played and stuff how does that enhance this camp for you and this team getting ready for they were an opener of that magnitude yeah with an opener like that we've been we've been emphasizing it a lot we know we got coming so we know we got to do we prepare for it I think Riley ready to play right now he he advanced freshman like he in the he in the book he stood in like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like the saw line to him or you said you're ready right you know you're ready what was that process like during last season could

you feel yourself becoming more and more ready because that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up so I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year when you say ready is it more a physical thing is it a mental thing when I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically mentally mostly I think I'm there oh I still want one more time oh I feel like it's a uh it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year but I kind of go about it the same way like last year I was intentional with everything I did I feel like this year it's gonna be the same thing it's probably a little bit more

it won't work how's anybody worked you watch here uh I say describe my game I say like when you think of me you think of like a like a bully like a silver bullet I don't really know what it's on the ball that's how I like to play and think no I ain't got to be my nickname but oh yeah yeah yeah yeah it's like um think it fit me because I don't know I just like the defense I feel like we got like you say we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot a lot of the terms is like you know I don't know I don't really not answer that that's okay does it you can go on your instincts a little bit more baby it's not so thinking of too much I don't even know if I say that because there's a

lot of thinking going on but it's like I just like it's deep I like how it's deep I like what you got going on uh now I want to say that I was kind of like happy for me yeah that's what you want to listen to that no no that's my dog so yeah kind of missing a little bit but yeah I'm happy for you all right well don't thank you go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own yeah how much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year but will be in this bigger role and a lot of some of your your yeah I do feel like um yeah I do feel like I did win a national but like you said my role wasn't same as how's my beaters year so yeah I definitely want to want to go get another one experience that like feeling maybe on the field a lot more place it's great oh bell thank you very much championship in Nekin you know before and everything like that and also to get your your

teeth knocked in you know first game and you know can't have that happen because then you know really doesn't mean anything and so just the constant mindset to continually get better but the forefront of my mind and forefront of anyone here you can ask yeah yeah I know we we look at the class sets every now and then I'd be like oh man they're gone they're gone but no it's been it's been good I mean the guys who are still here I'm as I've definitely kind of bonded together pretty good so yeah yeah yeah I mean you know Mark came in the other day is like that class 2021 best class ever and like yeah sure okay you know I can't really can't really even you know just sitting to that you know not much left but um yeah I mean to do what we can and do we can for this team has been really important for all of us and I think um us now realizing

the veterans you know like we're the old guys now in the group has been kind of strange at least to begin with you know because you go from um all those guys you like Donnie and Josh and those guys and all of sudden it's Sunday we have a team meeting after the um like this operation the shoe and all of a sudden the next day there's got and you know it's just very different so I think us being able to step up as you know leaders and as as vets to help bring out you know along the team our units and um this program has been really important just to try um yeah no it could spend doing really well I mean I could go and he goes to work um he's extremely athletic extremely flexible um you know he's a young kid obviously he's a lot of a lot of development

a lot of he's a little adversity at all of us do um and I think he's going through that right now but he's been coming out on the better end of it so far and I'm excited to see what he can do because he's very impressive at this young stage yeah extremely excited I mean um trying to just build that culture back up again you know like what we had last year uh I we're trying to do a little stuff here and there and I can know I think we're going to Ray-Rays of barbecue I think tomorrow uh so shout out Ray-Rays but um but yeah I just trying to uh get that brotherhood back get that you know that oblock uh spirit back uh sure it's coming soon soon um hopefully um but uh just to kind of get those uh not those same faces but those same kind of mindsets back and uh our our group is important right now and it's it's been fun to uh meet new guys from different backgrounds and stuff like that um and try to figure out how to you know build that and mend that together it's

been pretty cool now as you are one of the most experienced veterans on this team how much do you feel like you have to be a leader for the students here yeah for sure I mean I think that comes um I don't it's obviously I don't feel like it's natural to anyone to immediately step up and that's something I've been working on every day and talking to God about um but I have to understand that and that's something I want to continue to work on I want to be able to um be a guy that people can fall back on and like coach was saying before like we're gonna have highs in those but the great players the ones being set our clocks do and I kind of want that's my goal as to be one of those people that you can do that um and I think for especially a very new set of eyes um in the woody um not only coaches but players um I think it's very important to kind of keep that steady mindset and I think for me learning how to be a leader has been important just to not be too hard on myself but also not let myself kind of slack off in some departments to try to keep um steady just your story itself though is testament of what it means to like for perseverance

and stuff too though right car something you know that's it's gonna have to stand up from somebody to say that right I mean just yeah what do you what do you think you've shown more than anything else in every car yeah I mean I've been blessed you know I've you know I've been blessed with a lot of adversity I think that's definitely maybe better on the back end and um you know coach to coach they always talks about it and you don't you know great leaders aren't you know they can show it but you know a lot of people can show a lot a lot of people can just talk about it um but to be about it is important and I think um to be know I've went through a lot of that adversity I went through a lot of that stuff and um my testament you know has been um written in an interesting way but I think for me to take that next step is really important for not only for this team but for myself personally yeah uh he's been doing great I mean he came in um big freaking strong uh he's fun to be in the weight room with uh he's uh he's kind of quiet like that's kind of my first impression on but he's actually pretty funny dude he he and his dad come over and they kind of joke around and he's

so he he's been doing a great job all right he's been doing a great job um for his size he has like freaky athletic feet like I watch him do the ladders and that's a lot of massive over on on those things you know doing a little itch shuffle but I mean he he's he was killing it and so he's been doing a great job I can't wait to see um how he kind of continues to develop um throughout this summer and uh throughout this fall camp first thing I know I'm not bad what it Austin yeah piggy has been doing great I mean he um he stepped up piggy yeah yeah everyone refers to as piggy is his username one time nice everyone's piggy but anyway um you know piggy's been doing great he uh he's been able to step up and kind of bring around along those younger guys you know everyone's kind of trying to figure out their their new roles and I think he's been uh he's been doing a lot of things big body guy they've been casted by can run between the tacos feel quicker than once you think for a big guy that really good feet and good balance so that's what makes him good that's what I saw him

uh well tight end background now I don't know many with that type of background but when he's high school we see that they try to play as an ace back but really good for him looking the portal for you know running back to you if you have two different styles running back to me one guy can you sort of think better one guy can use your computer or is it you'll just say the best running back if you find you do you want to have different I want different styles you know what I'm gonna take you guys with different students um whether they're big guys small guys, tall structures in between the type of runners I don't know I don't want to say the same but all different different different different types you guys know will and please show a lot of that a flow of red zone story you guys are doing a lot of hard work is it important to find the fact that the size of the CJ has to help you in the rest of the day? um no I have my own opinion on the size thing in the company that is on you know I had Jordan James out of order and I he's my

grandson um running show y'all is a freshman in probably way the two ten or two five which is not very big but they didn't get the deal again you know some guys you got the most are sticking about his own and you play with a lot of aggression down here running so that could be CJ that could be James or it could be the freshman go Jackson um it's just who has no experience on you know that's that's what I'm going to go with you don't have to be six two nah just because you're being there I'll make it off we knew that obviously you know freshmen running back from it in their brother's area here but what do you need to see from a freshman to feel comfortable with that playing so in the first thing you were there on the ball well what they do they're no small detail guys take care of the ball the second game will be how good they know pass for them because it's the hardest thing for high school because they're not really hearing high school we have to understand the pass for all their files are he me so like they say I mean it has to be me so but that's why I need to see first

for everything Jackson I will understand to read this so I think you need to be if you feel comfortable with with bow and and I say where they're at or at least you know where yeah I think they're gonna find I like to say I tell all the young guys he's a marathon I was playing the first day first you've been an armor spider specialty you know you earn spot specialty then you earn the right to be a book out so they get out down the field so I think they're training the right to the first practice not it wasn't merit so to build off for cleaning stuff to work on yeah I've just seen some of the younger guys in your room develop I think about like Patrick Houston is coming in this year seeing him working with you guys Joshua would make it and tell us how you come along I feel like they're definitely picking up quick I mean I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison and Javante and Tyler Friedell in front of me so I feel like I'm just trying to be

kind of one of those peers that they work for me and kind of just give them the steps to get there and I feel like they're definitely picking up quick and they're definitely going to be one of great freshmen I think Josh was talking about the JT and Jack probably have made a ton of their experience and that's a lot of tools for you to be out of them is there a difference in the work going because you've been getting through half of camp and the last couple? Um I feel like all the camps I've definitely got a big course word and I love that so I ask Coach J4 I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft so I mean some people may not need it some other people needed it but I mean I just like to get as many reps as I can get I don't think it's a big one that course I don't think so I'm working on it right now um I mean for me it's always just kind of getting my uh little details perfectly like my steps my footing kind of just affecting my toolbox and what we call it my craft and uh just trying to be uh it's like a win-ever heavy play so it's kind of different we're in the T-bring biggest shit scene in the world

yeah um definitely just getting stronger faster everything all day above but uh one of my big things is being leader and kind of just not trying to look still look up to Jack and JT and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into it so I do like kind of have a lot of leaders on the B-line and we have to be in position so we kind of all kind of just counts off each other and all of us um it's the competitive and we love it we all competitive people we all love to fish each other and that's really the thing the best side of all is we like we all just kind of bouncing off each other and see what one person does and we kind of better than the archival box and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing one. Okay do you remember when last year you got to get the shot in with full-backed folks and uh did they approach you with that idea and two folks do? I mean I'll get you about it because you're a Jack's all yours lobby. Okay. So I definitely did it in high school

I was pulled back and a little bit of tidying so I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson honestly he left watching it too before he left and uh he felt like he playing that seed and coach Day's head and uh coach Day kind of just went for it and uh tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? I mean I'm just doing anything to scream. New play about Guida Nano yeah we've got that far. Yeah yeah yeah yeah um I like to think myself as a football player I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and uh try to do my best for you. Can you check me the same thing? Oh yeah. What's your graphene? That's what. He was just talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of side you and about how to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back just got to wait into those music and spend doing it and how did that help you maybe get the like mindset against what it means to play. Um definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like uh people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything

that goes into it how long the season is now. What you got to do to prepare for and what happened and all that time from here to to then. So uh I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected and we kind of just talks man on man and uh he kind of disintegrates to me and I feel like you kind of both are pretty honest and we know we're making it. Yeah making each other better every day and we got the four best Dn's five best Dn honestly and the coach football and we're going to be one of the best D lines and coach football. How do you feel like a better player today than you work in this season? Um I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and uh kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of drink people in and uh feel like we're kind of helping out more. I think record ran around the past as you the TGFC. Zip sale. I mean it sounds bizarre but I mean the season goes by so fast already so when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10 so now it's kind of gives you more time

to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it because you've come out here all five. I'm freshness place. Yeah. But you don't want to spend on your powder for the first month of the year right now. Oh yeah. There is that pace yourself there. I mean there is a mindset that I did in that season. Yeah definitely definitely going to have that the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys about the last question right here. I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watched the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become so we know we we're right at the same place at the right time and god wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and uh just perfect our craft together and I feel like we all are just great individuals and you come together with something special. Great. How did your expectations like this meet up with how do you feel when you're going down to this point of guess? I feel like I've made the plays that came in and that's where the Ockman control. I've had more opportunities as

years progressed and been in spots to be around the ball but the expectation was to come in here and contribute to the team and try to help find a way to push the team to win games at high level and to be better than they were in Lashian for me to play better than I was Lashian. So really just coming to try to grow with myself and with the team so that was my big goal and I feel like I've done a good job and the team has done a good job progressing through here and getting better. So yeah that's all I'm saying about that. Um over here in the right there may have not been wrong. Yeah but I feel just standing here right now just just feel like like a different season. What does it feel like for you going into playoffs? You know y'all didn't get to go and you wanted necessarily the regular season but here you are. Right I mean what is that sense that you have right now that's different than you about the regular season? I mean everybody wants to say it's a new season in terms of because if everybody's 0-0 right now when you keep going if you lose you're done.

So I mean but genuinely that's how you play every game. You know that play every game like it's your last game so for me I don't think it's really any difference to be able to go play at high level every game and that can't be based at home. Is it a player thing? Is it anything else? You know it's gonna play every game like it's the same thing. So I would say in terms of that no you just have to play the game. Play the game like that. What feels difficult about this defense right now going into this so y'all feel even more fun. You know good by tight and we close together what was that? I mean what is your sense of the further it's sort of speak of the defense? I feel like we progressed throughout this season we did make a change after game 6 because we lost and we didn't play well that game and I feel like we'd grow from that and got into a better place and over these past two weeks off just realizing okay these are the things that we messed up throughout the year these are what we need to fix these are what this team is

trying to exploit on us. So just really going back through everything and seeing what can do better for this kind of game or for the next couple of years. Last couple questions. Tell me your favorite bucket help. How does the Tennessee's wide split super receivers impact you? I feel like it makes the game more or more one game. I met your receivers on your DB's at the play of second game and the guys are front and it makes it truthfully like those guys have to do their job and these guys have to do your job. You got to be able to stop the run with the people they've had in the run fit and yet to be able to stop their path with the people they have out there. So that's that's what they do and they do it at a really low level. So it's going to be tough to go in. And I find a question. Join me. I'll miss this action. The coach knows the time. The speed of which they're you guys are at the call end playing. This is built for potential. If the fans see the play call end would the player kind of end is that they get to you? Is the speed of the coach calling them?

All right. It allows you to be a clean senator. I said earlier just a ability to see the formation see what keys that you have before they're playing. Have knowledge of your job and not really thinking. Being able to play and not think during the games are going to be a game. So whenever you can get the call that faster and play at high level and play without Bob. That's a really good thing for you. Okay. Look, thank you very much. Appreciate you. I did come up out. Because you're a good coach. You're a good teacher. You're a good lawbie. You get to test that. So I definitely did it in high school. I was pulled back and a little bit of tidied in. So I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson. Honestly, he left Washington too. The poor he left. And I feel like you playing that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it and tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that good to you now? I mean, I know that he's new. Do you need anything in the screen? New play about Guadagnano. Yeah. I haven't got that far. Yeah, you're good. I'm going to have to help you set the state. But yeah, look at that. I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to.

Just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and I'll try to do my best for you. Can you check me the same thing? Oh, yeah. Don't want to look at me. Roughly, that's why. Can you just talk into Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of start you and you got out to have some conversations after the JT and Jack decided to come out? Just want to wait until those expected and how did that help you maybe get the right mindset against football in this game? Um, definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it. How long the season is now? What you got to do to prepare for and what's happening all that time from here to to then? So, I feel like we definitely just coached JT and me kind of connected. We kind of just talks man-to-man and he kind of just sent straight to me and I feel like we kind of both have been honest and we know we're making it. We're making each other better every day and we got the four best DNs. Five best DNs honestly and then coach football and we're going to be one of the best DLines and coach football. How do you feel to play with today at any more games in the season?

Well, I feel like I'm checking big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more. How do you record your head around the cost of the C-B-A-C? Is it sound? I mean, it sounds bizarre but I mean the season goes by so fast already. So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10. So now it's kind of getting more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of save it because you know, I'm our year year for a really refreshing sports face crazy. But you don't want to spend all your time with the first month of the year right? Oh yeah. There is a not pace yourself that but I mean there's a mindset for the season. Yeah definitely definitely going to have that the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys about in the past? Last question right here. Did you see 2016, 2017, 4 and about two French veterans all in the same age? No, it's because he talked about that. I mean he doesn't have to talk about it.

We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become. So we know we're right at the same, we're at the right place at the right time and God wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together. And I feel like we all are just great individuals and become together and just perfect. You get like good coaches who believe in you and like they give you the tools to go out there and just play with confidence. You know not their doubting yourself. Like you got your teammates who got your back. Like my first play when I got up there to see like when the sale, the IGB and the Japan, like first thing they say is like no worry just go out there and play with confidence. You know the tools, it's usual tools. It's just go out there and make a play. And where about a play coming to you? You know where is your time and show a job and you just do it. And then like say what Coach Roy is like he gives me. He puts me in a position like like the drills we put in, the work you put in, the one I went to so I just go out there and just perform at the highest level. How much better are you right now than maybe last month and force break right? I mean I got way better just because I've transitioned a little bit to the inside.

Nick was far so I'm like now I'm actually trying to like catch, catch, take me again. It's often covers not it's not always press at the line so it's like not maybe to like move my feet, move my hands like see like what I got to do just like just a case I got to go back and corner. I plan off now. I'm very confident out there. Do you think that Nick was an actual fifth of you or have you had to kind of convince yourself to transition around? I mean I feel like it's natural for me because I feel like me individually I'm a fast learner. A fast learner like coaches help us like learn fast and like because they're always honest about the techniques and stuff so you like you play down like you pick up all the things and then like when we get out here they coach us to like the technique so we used to go out there and play like fast spot and then you know I would have like university till you were able to go out there and just compete. Is that where you kind of stuff just spring or do you get kind of bouncing? So I'm really been stuck there this spring a little bit right whenever you get us like other things I just bounce out there every once in a while just like just have fun see if I still got it every once in a

while so it's as good as going to compete at most spots. You mentioned the technique what technique you know tips and things that you had to pick up and learn because walking from the beginning to the end. I mean this is always like you are because what coaches are asking hands like see it you see it move your feet and then hit your hand with your hands on the mat so it's like when you get like when you out there you able to like just process like the way the receiver comes off the ball looking at the hips and seeing like the way he moves and like you able to pick up like the row constant you can get out of that like so it's being like other coach walls for me like as a player and just like him breaking out football to you like one on one it's like very beneficial. What was the hardest part of making that transition from outside that sense? I really say like the corner you got your cover two you cover three you get your cover one us like it means easy but you got nickel now so many responsibilities you got to see like the row concepts you got to be able to process like I ain't no rows faster than what you got to do by corner and just be able to like everything's quid like a transition you got to like you got to

move fast you got to just learn to move fast it's like game recognition where you think maybe from the most since you got it I would definitely say I definitely say yes because how you get to like college it's a little bit different in high school we don't got to worry about things like that when when you get to college or school like this like your recognition of plays and like you'll annoy your drops the way like the coverage as far as you play understand all your teammates or plus if you have any feel it's like it's easy what if your pressure is bad it's very talented isn't great dude's a humble guy great teammate very supportive that's like god actually the one wrong because you like you can feed off your energy because you can see like we make a play he's like he like IGB it's like IGB 2.0 so he's like when you get out there with guys like that with good energy it's made you play a little bit harder and then like when you make a play he's out there and I'm just helping you like he's being out there with him he's a good player. One of those guys trust questions and full kids come to high school obviously

over the last few years or so I'll be serious now what is it about one build that gets you to play at a high school? It's a big question I know the question. Let me just try some components because we have so many kids come out of glue and just play at games I leave like elite schools and then like like tracks a big part of it because I mean actually everybody got to run track like it's minutes right you don't really get a choice to be able to just like get out here and like know how to compete and then like G like Gain builds that mental toughness into you so like have you like I heard now you got to be mentally tough because I mean life's not going to be easy so it's like being out here being out here being out here being able to pee when you down just pick yourself back up I mean you got some Diaz dodge and being out so getting that stuff. Do you teach how you describe the mentality of the defense right now getting this opportunity for a green after the awarding? Yeah hungry and thankful I mean we know how the last last time when you know we we had a chip on our shoulder I mean we were riding high before that

game and we took that loss and we came back how to make a couple changes but I think we understand what you know everything's that stick right now you know just fighting to where another high stage is for next game that's what's on stake and just to be able to represent this this this state and this this team I mean we understand what's as what's on the line and you know we're just hungry and blessed that we get this opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl. Right behind your Adam King WVN ask what do you remember most about walking off this field in Eugene? What was kind of going to your eyes in that moment? I mean there is a I don't think anybody imagine it imagine us losing you know I didn't that's for sure and I think after that it was a kind of hit deep understanding that man we still there's still a lot of ball left to be played. I mean you can let it sting for a little bit but you know if you let it carry over too long then you know there there goes there goes your whole season by I think we did a great job of just understanding coming together in this room right here not being afraid to display or hold

accountability for one another and you know as as that happened he came back we grouped and you know we're just you're going right now and and I'm just blessed for those specific moments you know losing I mean no one wants to lose but the testimonies and the things you're taught within those little situations speaks of all of them. I throw over a letter of middle. Hey Jay what did you see from King Gahla the last couple of weeks that was there like a push from him and then we conversation was and we can see that he's playing some special moments. Yeah I mean that's that's my boy he's in the R2X club too but you know Kiyada I mean every time his numbers call he goes out there and makes the most of it no no matter where where we are in the game when he goes out there he's just hungry he wants to go make plays and you know we see it and practice so it's not surprising to us. Bill Rebino is playing this back. Bill Rebino is obviously very elusive and he's not very tall.

How important it could be to just kind of stay in your past rush lanes and neglect a lot of balls and kind of make a difference that way. Yeah I think it just comes out being disciplined knowing who you're playing against like you said then he's he's surely very elusive. I mean he can he is making throws I mean he get out the parking to everything so I think for us we just got to discipline and just continue to just meet with Coach Jay. Me with the coach knows and understand how we can just eliminate that. I should about you and Jack I mean your personality seems to be a little different you're more on the quiet side he's how well you've played together four years both five four guys kind of describe your relationship with him friendship with him and just how you pop them each other. Man that's my brother like he said we're different but very alike I think outside like you said he's louder I'm quiet but you know once we're on that field we're like the same person where we'll do anything for this team you know we'll die for our players and we'll give

everything we got. Room together for four years correct? Yeah fall camp. Every room? Yeah sometimes go over there. So go over there so yeah. The neat one who's the messy one? We have our share of days when we when I'm neat he's neat or you know we might both be messy but we do we do a good job. Yeah I probably have a better kick in the jack though. Tony Gertman like I have. When you're playing a team for the second time and that was almost a season to go by now. How much of are you at square one with with this scouting and preparation or how much do you take for that game? How much do you avoid taking so that you don't have any preconceived notions of what you're going up against on the offense line? I say it's it's pretty 50-50 I mean that game like you said it was a while ago but at the same time they elevated as a team so did we so we understand that they they had they made some changes for sure you know there's team there's a certain density we can take back from that game but we also understand that they went on a little run after that and we can see that they elevated as an

offense so we just got to continue to watch those games dissect the other games and just continue to see what stands out and what they change from the for the past game. We got a couple calls on zoom that will wrap up with first we have Nick Hamilton from Nightcast Media. This one to ask you basically about the synergy of this defense and how you guys were able to not only celebrate the triumphs but get through the adversity be able to be this top-notch defense that you are in college football today. Here you need to question one more time yeah no problem one to ask you about the synergy you are able to develop over course of the season obviously celebrating the triumphs but also getting through the adversities to where you go all other top-notch defense that you all are today. Yeah I mean like you said that we went through a lot of trials the trials but there's also there's a lot of things we can take away from all the wins and losses and from those

wins we understood that hey we can be the best defensive country and from those losses we understand that there's still things that need to be fixed and I think when you take all that in at once that comes out to the the common goal or the common talker which is you can there's always learning points everywhere and depending how we dissect those games or how we just continue to come as one and elevate you know we continue to just collect all those those learning points and just continue to grow from them. And one final question Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch. JT what have what have you guys done better and the especially in the Tennessee game and just lateness season you think about turning some of the pressures that you've got on the quarterbacks and the sacks and getting home in some of those situations. Yeah I think it was more just understanding the defense as a whole understanding everybody's job. I think as the season went on we get to understand that you know we have to know what's going on the back can we have to know what's going on the linebacker crew to understand what plays we have a room of freedom and I think

once we understood that and got a better understanding of the of everybody's job I mean it it showed this play because you know everybody knows what we're doing it's not like the lineback is know what they're doing the corners and BI they know only their job I think we all know each other's job and we continue to ask each other questions on you know if they're listening how they can get to the quarterback and you know if I'm dropping and playing quarterbacks by I can ask Cody on how to open field tackle so you know we just we just kind of lean on each other's understanding because you know like I said like Denzel knows that I play corner better than I know I'd play corner so you know he has more more wisdom at that position than I do. Definitely a little bit of both obviously I just want to the team to win I think we got a chance to win definitely towards it and to stretch that last drive I was a couple plays here a couple calls that you maybe should have gotten but I think the frustration more so it just comes from

no one's going to win more anything. He said he was a little surprised how much attention you have right away from your defense how about you. Yeah definitely though you may be gilded more one of ones kind of how the game plan was set up. Um getting guys different coverage out of cloud to my side and this is kind of how the game goes. What's the process been like sometimes where for whatever reason just just see that. Yeah definitely um especially in college a lot of the game fans defensively were taking you away um you know we had a lot of success at a high-speed obviously one of the boys had a different um the weapons they're kind of still get the victories and um I was yeah you continue to do better jobs when I hear. Why are there some communication that process been like post game getting on the same page with Kyler just you guys exchanged text or you guys didn't know. Yeah yeah they're filming definitely kind of asking what did I see there kind of go over and play and um that's how I get them when I saw and got a different feedback there.

Change words. Mark I get it we're asking questions about the previous game bar. You do type of guy to let a game like that winger or how do you flush it? You got to move on got to move on some long season got 16 more of them. Hopefully no I can stay healthy throughout the year and uh just continue to build and get better each week. Okay did so much work throughout the off season to get on the same page. How different is it when you get into that ring of the season? Yeah it's totally different. It's totally different um you can do a lot of things you know insert some shorts and then you go out there put practice and get pads on you do like the the point practice we do with the colds but there's nothing like actually going out there um not in live action and really trying to get the same case so I think that would really should both continue to develop and we can get better. Did it just a matter of ups then this much is the game? Yeah I do definitely um like I said I was kind of like first live action together um so I can continue with me. What are your early impressions of it? With Kyle? Uh yeah but now obviously I have a depth of respect you know JG's call or preseason and I obviously be all go really healthy that's kind of the most important thing

that I was thinking about healthy and going for it so um that's it actually. Marvin what are your early impressions of the Rams? What do you think of the Rams? Yeah I mean they're a good team they're good physical team I got a new lot of new guys up front I think that's kind of where the strong suit is um kind of a little different to Buffalo come more to a little match coverage so I'm excited to go get some. Personally when the belts take you one of them I was pretty excited today. Wasn't many of them. Wasn't many of them so uh I thought I could be good. I'm just what you think game versus just playing you know not getting a preseason game actually into the most three season. It was definitely definitely thinking a lot out there and um yeah I think I'll come with reps because I think the thinking less and just going out there and playing definitely come with reps and it's something you're on you better at but I think definitely I was thinking a lot about that. Is there anything you can do to improve that that's from the coverage and the thing you did in the past because you're going to face that a lot on this side? Yeah I mean you just got to team you get open for yourself making yourself available on the one the ball does anyway making the play um this

he's just taking you away that means other guys are having a chance to get open so oh that's not kind of how I look at it it's no longer since it's you know offense the best thing of course. That kind of thing would be with Kyla. This is something that comes pretty quickly in a new game or something like that. Hopefully sooner or later I think um we'll continue to see we'll see. I don't think we're in a bad place right now at all obviously I don't think that but uh just a live reps we'll continue to grow and show. You know I mean so but he the energy yeah would be on just a hyperb on perspective so that's kind of how I would be going on letting my whole life on again I felt team captain like specifically and I felt I wasn't a captain in high school wasn't a captain in college but I'm gonna make a joke I was in high school so I feel like I'm not even a captain till I get that I felt

you know but that would be awesome you know but you know that happens I'd be great but not either way I want to assume a role as a captain from perspective the guys on to be a visual word and to get back to that point. Yeah I mean I can't say that um I mean I guess the biggest thing is that I felt like how you'd used to in the past but it didn't take just the first LTAs it took training left and right once this season and because I know what it was going to be. So I was like a lot of reps um just to get back to feeling like myself for day one LTAs and then that whole first week but now like today specifically just changing some small things with my feet that did say talking about the long coach, some things that I'm doing my feet to get to that to sound that traditional angle that I love to sit on and felt even I thought I felt I felt great already but I'm okay I felt even better

of it. Sorry I need more exercises tomorrow now I'm getting my feedback and how I like the right side and on the left side so I'm excited. I mean obviously I feel like um in the league whether I left the right or still going against premier guys obviously your high expectations for your left and right tackle but um there's definitely like the level of energy and like the expectation definitely taking the human side because now tonight the blind side that's the as the tackle wall you know so um so yeah I would say in terms of communication as far as this even outside of the facility you just stuff like that like really creating that but the tackle quarterback bond even more often feel that I think has been something that's even the cool thing. I got a text one day and I said hey thank you for your love. I was like you know yeah I've been training both I've been training both you know I I asked after the season they're like honestly you know we'll talk to you some things in and I just got a text one I'm having what

happens with the free agency then so I was like you know what I have OCs right tackle so if I get the word I'm going I'm staying right tackle I'll just do what I did before I build on that bus I was like I might as well as train the left tackle now as if I'm going to be left tackle and I'd rather do that than train on right time with the company you know what I mean so I'm like let me just prepare an advance I'll say it was God you know I think occasionally I'm very down there be a lot of twists I was just not like it's automatic and I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season like I didn't have to go once again with some positive I kind of say did that I try to figure out okay like this is this is the type of rush man again this is how this guy usually rushes if I get the vibe this is how the ends like the rush you know tackles that first year guys you got the premier patch on you know what it was going to be already you know will be every stud and honestly just knowing that's kind of an advantage to so you're not you're not

you're not oh the problems with my side it was never air dog but it comes out the hot like three plays in a row and two minutes I knew that you know what I mean I'm watching more everybody else and you really you know it goes out there occasionally third down I was like you know I was very close to me he's gonna pick me you know what I mean so effect it's kind of it's also kind of an engine away but it's also exciting okay I'm gonna get the hardest look you know those are real real reps you know they really out on our way to kind of process and I was like hey when they tell me let me know about I'm just gonna train it I was trying to all left so TAs I guess if I didn't hear anything about TAs I came in like so you know because just like I'm cool with training both continue I would have been cool with training both continually but I feel like anybody any position will be like okay like you want as soon as possible

give your feet settled in your hips settled in your hands so then certain kind of that we've been hard to make you work both there you know too you know but they're definitely but in terms of the development definitely a lot faster than staying all one side but I think having that the weeks that we had the transitional seasons over you know good I'm trying to get up to put up my body and weak things at a time right now but when it comes back I'm gonna show them the house I got a house not too far from so I told them I got that house like I could yell outside have any stock or anything doesn't mean anything so we're we have to play on Friday and that's really all that matters we're gonna take two more from zoom before turning it back our first one

is gonna come from Stephen from Cleveland dot com go ahead the final sorry hey Caleb we've seen you were talking about the Ohio State Office the success that they've had obviously Jeremiah has been a big part of that what's it been like this year going against him in practice and you know after doing that there's a surprise at all to see him having a success he's had as a freshman no it doesn't bring surprises it was pretty pretty easy to see the talent that he has and the blessings that God has put on his plate but it's always a it's always a challenge going against Jeremiah and the other receivers and Mecca and Karnel in practice and even guys like Brandon and his impression Rogers they they do a great job bringing looks for the defense and create a lot of obstacles a final question from zoom is gonna come from Dan Hope go ahead Dan Caleb you Quinn had a lot of success against you guys when you played him at Alabama last year just what do you remember from going up against him last year and what can you learn from that game

really smart quarterback knows how to operate their offense possible in the right places and then Coach Narkeeson does a great job putting him in positions to win all right back to you yep thank you Rob all our Columbus dispatch Caleb JT and Jack land opposite sides are they is opposite off the field as they are on in terms of personality and just the people they are they're offices but they they're also like one of the closest people I know they've spent a lot of time together they've come from different sides of the country so they're different people for sure but they're both really great people are really great men so I respect both them um I'm not gonna do that I'm sorry I'm not gonna do that it's about to ask the war and podcast throughout the throughout the season we would always see you on

like Wednesday nights you and Nathan would be some of the last people off the field for the things that you're working on after a practice always the same is it a routine what are the things that you're hoping to get out of those extra moments after practice uh it's a routine pretty much the the keys that we need to go into the game with and then also changes week to week on based on what our jobs are gonna put us into doing um so every week we go through the same things and then we add certain things that we do for the week for the what the team that we play is gonna ask us a comment Bill we've been on Columbus dispatch yeah I already got one okay uh Joey Gothman Columbus dispatch killin when Texas uses play action and they use action to prepare but what's what do they do well and those spots and what's the thing you guys in those moments with Quinn they uh they do a really good job with iCandy and it creates a lot of challenges for defense in order to see if it's runner path and see um

because that's when they're gonna take their shots too as well so really just having great odd discipline seeing the line is seeing what is telling us um so that's just what it does keep right uh Nick Walker Letterman role hey you guys had a pretty good game plan for Tyler Warren when you guys played him you guys have another Texas has a good tight end and Gunnar Hound what do you guys gonna have to do to limit him and how do you think about his game uh he's a really good player he makes a lot of plays and he has a lot of receiving arts this year um so really just do the same thing we've done all year just be disciplined in our responsibilities and if you're on them you gotta make a play when it comes right one of the mandrel billis uh playman doc com when you know that the receivers is kind of a whole you know they spread ball around and see what stands out about you know the way that they can spread ball around those different guys a lot of really good athletes um i play with Isaiah Bond Latcher who's a really great receiver a lot of speed um and then all the receivers have made a lot of plays so I mean

everybody has to be on that piece of you if we're gonna stop them and um have a do a really good job uh brother on here Tim May Letterman role yeah kill but you you moved up here i don't have to get to tell you when you moved basically a year ago and stuff it was a little bit of a leap of faith because you know you you know how many athletes are on this team get athletes to stuff but why didn't you really feel this defense come into its own and then then pass that man watching in the Rose Bowl you you recognition of what was coming seem to be on point did it feel like that I mean you personally um i think the defenses played really well throughout the season uh i think we've had games where we played better and games where we haven't put it all together but i think that's how all defenses are um so i can't say there's a certain moment where i think we put it together um but was it second party question you sing really on point uh against Oregon about recognizing what was what was coming i mean you were really active out there directing and

things like that did it feel like that i guess i feel like as Luke said earlier the preparation that we put in goes into that and just feeling comfortable and what we're doing comfortable what we're seeing with the other teams i feel like that's uh that allows us to play fast and can uh me and lake and to communicate to everybody else do i miss anyone for questions here steve how wangin 247s sports yeah Caleb but you came to high state to play for national championship and there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the season just to be in this position the last four teams still live just you feel validated by that and did you always have faith that this is how it was going to turn out i came to a high state to become a better player and to help the team be as good as it can be not to win a national championship not like that wasn't the only goal for me coming here uh really just wanted to be in the team and be my be with the brotherhood um but it's a it's a great feeling being in the final four and being with the team and everything that comes

with that but it's a blessing to be here and one final question boomer been once a club is this bad yeah i did want to follow up when i talked to you at that time of the game you said when they scored their first and second touchdown you were really hot on the sidelines what was what was your message to the team and you know that's a good off that they're going to score against most people why were you so hot really just because we didn't execute which let them score so we've done that a lot which is something we can't do in these big games and these games where it's winter go home so we got to make the plays when they come and got our competitive excellence as coach Dacinus make the play where your numbers call Caleb thank you very much i feel like they're definitely picking up quick i mean i was in their shoes one time and i had Zach Harrison and Javonte and Tyler Friedell in front of me so i'm just trying to be kind of one of those peers that they work for me and kind of just give them the steps to get there and i feel like they're definitely picking up quick and i know they're definitely going to be one of the great rushmen

um i feel like all the camps i've definitely gotten a big course load and i love that so i asked coach Jay for i love getting more reps because i just like protecting my craft so i mean some people may not need it sometimes people need it but i mean it looks like he has made it i mean for me it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly like my steps in my footing kind of just perfecting my toolbox is what we call it in the craft and trying to be a second whenever every player is what we're trying to do yeah um definitely just getting stronger faster everything all they've got but uh one of my big things would be the leader and kind of just not trying to look still look up to jack and jt and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into so i feel like kind of have a lot of leaders on the d-line at the d-in position so we kind of all kind of just count off the chiller and others.

um it's competitive and we love it you know competitive people we all love to fish each other and i feel like the springing the best side of all is i feel like we all just kind of bouncing off each other to see what one person does and to kind of build it into our toolbox and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing. okay so you have a little less here and you got to get the shot of uh pull back in the boat and uh they approach you without adhering to a coach's team i mean i'll get to my power because you're as you are jacks are you're sloppy. okay it gets test back. so i definitely did it in high school i was pulled back and a little bit tighted and so i feel like it kind of saw what i could do there and coach Wilson honestly he left watching it too before he left and uh he played in that seat and coach day's head and uh coach day kind of just went for it and uh try to do the best i could to do it. is that the chin ring now? i mean i know they just need to do anything in the screen. new playbook i do not know yet i haven't got that far. they're young and they're deep. and how tough is that to do? for your look and practice. um i like to think myself as a football player i can really play any position on the field

you need me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and uh try to do like that for you. kid jack you the same thing. oh yeah. and don't want to go to the athlete. graphely that's why. kids is talking to coach johnson on Tuesday about sort of the conversations and some of the sort of thought you and you got out to have some conversations after the jt and jack decided to contact. just got a win into those from your perspective and how do that help you really get the right mindset i guess many of you are stuck in. um definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. i feel like uh people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it how long the season is now. what you got to do to prepare for and what could happen in all that time from here to to then. so uh i feel like we definitely just coached getting me kind of connected and we kind of just talks man oh man and uh he kind of just sent straight to me and i feel like i'm kind of both a person on the game. i'm making it yada. making each other better every day and we got the four best deans five best deans honestly in the college football and we're going to be one of the best deans in college football. how do you feel like the better player today at any work in this season?

um i feel like i'm taking big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more elitered and uh kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and uh i feel like we kind of helping out more. i don't recommend around the past seven tphd and fit sale. i mean it sounds bizarre but i mean the season goes by so fast already so i'm when you're kind of like week ten and you're like wow it's already week ten so now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of save for it because you're already here for it. so i'm freshness for this crazy. it's here once been on your calendar the first uh first month of the year right? oh yeah is that not past yourself that? i mean there's a mindset that i did that season. yeah definitely definitely going to have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices. how much is Larry talk to you guys around the game? last question right here from k16 2017 four and a bell two five two words all in sentences. how much does he talk to that guy? i mean he doesn't have to talk about it.

we know about it. we've seen it every day. we watch the film. we see them all working together. we know what it could be. we know we could become so we know we we're right at the same right the right place at the right time and god wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together and i feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together at some special. great doing it what what what the deliberation i'm surprised it's even a conversation like it should always be live let's tell you tell you tell you play football so um obviously there's a proximity to the season which is it's a little reckless i understand that but in spring we're competing for jobs i mean if i'm a quarterback i'm asking to be live so i can show him how i'm different than you know anyone that can't be live you know what i mean they're always trying to find an edge and if you're never fully alive i don't think you fully give a guy's opportunity to to be who they want to be or who they can be so um that being said uh you know i will cast my vote but that will not be uh

my final decision on that but i will cast my vote uh the guys have handled it well um it was good for all parties involved and uh more we can do that the better but ensure that is coming to a close here very quickly so that Murphy twenty percent right uh Jeremiah off the field we saw after practice on the Saturday that the mob that came to get autographs and things when when you're working with him on all these things you're talking about but also dealing with the life of being one of the biggest names in college football how do you help mentor him in that past practice? yeah i mean it's a it's a blessing to be able to be in a position where you know can provide insight or um i wouldn't say recommendations but just you know give perspective um what how he chooses to receive the first perspective or not one and not he always does but which is fine uh but to be in that position is really humbling that being said um he does a really good job on his own he doesn't need check talent too much

he's really done a great job again the way he was raised in his morals and humble and always sign and taking pictures i'm always trying to be the bad guy for him because he's not going to be and uh just says again more about his character uh but he's not the only i mean he's not the only guy any guy would kind of do that we have a group full of awesome young guys uh but Jeremiah has done a great job with it handling it and uh it's definitely growing at an exponential rate to say the least uh but um i think he's built for it and he's been handled at a high level uh but uh those around them we're trying to help him out a little bit yeah what made uh quincey the first freshman to do this black striker issue uh yeah i mean uh that's a good question i think that uh you know frankly you know it i don't i don't i'm not really fully involved with that so i can be but i wasn't you know i think that people on the outside would it be defense or even coach day or anybody brought it

to my attention you know we're kind of just going about practice and that's our expectation and make plays not make mistakes um and he was starting to make a lot of a lot of plays consistently and i think the consistent level uh that he's been as a person uh being on being on time and and doing what his job description on each play and the ball is coming your way and making some big plays and uh you know it starts it's just being seen by your peers and your peers are asking for it they start barking get his stripe off all those kind of things that's the ultimate sign of respect i think uh with your peers um you know go to your bat and he's not going for his bat no one uh people are bringing it to your position coach i think it uh speaks volumes of the uh the general respect that you're earning uh through the process so i think it's something like that happened and uh you know as well as they're based on his peers and the other coaches step on christian cleatman dot com rinday was talking about how impressed he's been this spring with Austin's serval all that he's been able to do and Tyler bones talking last week about the importance of the cross-training and all that that goes

into that just how much have you seen Austin benefit from this spring and everywhere that he's been and how big of a piece do you think he's going to be regardless of where he fits on this offensive line yeah i think Austin's been awesome i mean he literally you know what was they say he played every spade every position we just move around you know and uh he handles it and you know he's one of those guys i feel like you watch film over and over again day after day and his name never really gets brought up you know in a good way like you know the old line your name gets brought up when uh usually not going as well you know i mean they're literally at the point of the attack on every single play so there's nowhere to hide and so uh but Austin when his name gets brought up he's like man that was a good job right good job pass off that combo whatever it's it's always positive and uh they're really impressed with him you start in the winter take a great job through the winter um again continuing to build their respect for his peers and then he's going a good job really good job just being uh very consistent through spring our left-jump giilbert press bros Brian and since you've been working more with the whole offense

it comes to quarterback play what has grown in your I don't know appreciation of that position and what those guys have to do and go through what do you think more about those guys versus maybe what you thought before it's just a wide receiver guy yeah i mean i mean there's no just a wide receiver guy if you are just wide receiver guy you won't be a very later on it's all about it's all about quarterback play you know so i think in that same world though to the point is that you know in order to be a great receiver or a great receiver or you know receiver guy whatever you want to call it uh there's only one page just the quarterbacks page so everything is based off them there whether they're progression they're timing the stresses they have is what we're trying to minimize so if you don't fully understand the quarterback play it's hard to you know maximize receiver play i think you know that being said um yeah i mean i'm still always learning you know i think that uh i can't say any is jumped out massively right now uh but i would say that

you know i i guess i would say that the preparation level i mean the what is required to execute and play at a high level it's just not capable in the a lot of time right i mean there's only so much time where i'll be with players if you're not willing to spend you know your own time getting prepared for practice to be uh to maximize one's ability uh there's a good chance you're not going to maximize your ability so you know other positions i mean all i and same thing i mean receiver play sometimes can can you know get away from it we do a great job studying and being in the room extra for sure but the requirement of a quarterback to know the fixed protections uh the br run game coordinator based on the calls you know to get us in different checks i mean there's so much to need to know and uh and frankly uh the uh you know the old line's only as good as the quarterback the receiver's only as good as the quarterback the offense is only as good as the quarterback and it's our responsibility to put guys in position to maximize what they're capable of maximizing but their inability uh to notice that they can just spend extra time outside the a lot of time i think it's critical and the amount that it takes

i guess that was maybe a little naive too but uh the guys are doing a great job doing it coach has got a uh meeting uh Rob all our Columbus dispatch Brian you know you get reach the mount top you got a banner out there national champs i think you keep these guys grounded being in the moment looking ahead not back do you are you tougher on because no i think that i mean i think we have a lot of guys you know what i think it's understanding that we were trying to build the map to get to where you wanted to get to but now that we have the map doesn't mean we've traveled the path so like we know what it looks like the guys that are here know what it's supposed to look like the guys before us said i'm believe we'll example how to get to where you want to get to so the focus is on trying to you know replicate what they just did and how they operated can't say we've done that right now so it's very easy to stay motivating because they already know it's not good enough frankly and so uh the last thing they want to do is put in a ton of effort

and then not reach their goals so uh motivation i don't think is needed i think there is a catching up of those and maybe aren't quite sure what it takes you know and but overall um motivation is not what we've needed uh clarity of message is definitely what we've been focused on and uh i think the message is being received so um not concerned about you know motivation and and the uh looking back if you will i think everyone's pretty pretty focused on being forward and knowing we haven't accomplished anything so who would you say is the leader of your wide receiver right now i would say carnaltate brennanis uh probably done the most most outspoken you know in the room uh yeah i would say they're doing a good job those are probably the two guys that would jump out of my room yep i mean cus brennan he's been in trouble obviously carnalt taking on that role more and being more vocal he's in football for the opposite of the city i'll do that but

that process for him and becoming a more vocal leader took for you to say that upon him what someone's a question carnalt like what do you think like the growth of it uh uh yeah i mean he's i think he's pulled guys aside you know it had one-on-one conversations with him uh he's locked in you know just i think he saw the impact that i met him made and uh the role he played and to think that you're gonna lose that and then be a better group probably doesn't mathematically make sense to him so someone's got to step up in that role and one and one respects him too he knows he's capable of it and uh it's just the desire and the appreciation i think to be at the older table now the older head and uh and appreciate the way i met him probably went about his business and so um he probably valued that appreciated that uh and he's just being assured we still have that fine a question bearer been on this this back could you assess the running back room uh i think it's pretty much assumed both as running back to cj and uh a james think that's hand in system is probably the way you got to go again um how do you think

it's working and you see third and maybe fourth guys up in them there i think that you know in college football uh in a football any football really you got to have depth in running back room i think that uh very apparent in the NFL it's usually a two back system you know very very rarely is it one guy uh but in college i think we saw the benefit of that last year uh the ability to complement each other is really important and the ability for us to identify what they do great and put them in good positions to be what they are uh what their best that i should say uh it's really important as a coaching staff it's been very impressed with uh even the younger guys Sam and and uh bow and the way they've come along um the consistency so what you're chasing right you're always able to that's why you're here but how often you do it ultimately dictates how much you play so but uh overall i think locks been on them they'd understand the standard and in past pro and uh not being a guy we got to sell out because you can't pass protect so we were blessed

well especially with tre last year and and quenchon so um but no these guys are done a good job they're competing uh they've been very coachable uh you know it's it's it's shown a plot on film um but uh yeah i mean it's always hard on backs i mean every opportunity you get to go live and and break tackles really gives you the most feedback on what these guys are capable of you just playing tag out there you never get any art at least you shouldn't uh but the running backs um you know on contact days it's done a good job James has done a really good job growing really excited about him everyone's really excited about him and cj um so uh you know i think ultimately now group the uh how good will all go with the group beat is probably based on you know the top the bottom rising right and you're gonna have some guys at the top but you know where's the floor and so i think uh uh bow and sam has done a really good job and many some more guys to get healthy and more more guys on campus but uh very encouraged and you saw him improve and then um

McLean i think is a is a great plus i mean he is a guy that has football intelligence he's picked it up you know he's kind of of those incoming freshmen who still should be in high school he's a guy i think you're gonna point to and you can see right now he's gonna be a player over to the right Austin Ward the podcast uh healthy Mitchell melton how does he fit in for your defense what does he bring to it yeah he's you know Mitch is that combination player you know in um in our four down um you know he's a guy that can do a lot of things uh drop fold in there and make plays you you see some of that all the time really athletic um you know we're kind of loaded at that end position so he's gonna play there but you know like i said last year we we haven't needed it but he's a guy you would point to along with cjhx you know for the for the long season

um people get injured you get a little light inside it's always hard on the defensive tackles but if you're gonna play with uh three ends you know that's Mitch is a guy who definitely can do all that he has that over to the left joy coffin Columbus dispatch Jim you've talked about this before but i think in pastures where you're going up against uh really talented receiver group offense to encourage your players uh it's not okay if they give up to the play and to go nearly almost the first half today where you the offense didn't get in the end zone until the late in the second half just and you guys have guys down the second area just what what did you think of that sort of trend and how it's evolved in the way you guys almost shut them out the first yeah i think it's become um you know an expectation now um you know our db's you know our bia best in america we led the country in past defense right i think uh it was 96 what i uh what i got here and it was number one last year so they've they've taken that spirit so it's a competitive

spirit it's an expectation now it doesn't matter who we're going against it's it's they they view it as a standard so that was good to see in the first first half uh over to the right Spencer Holbrooke letterman roll Jim we've talked about safety changing the way that you play defense in the Leo and the linebackers but how much does having the depth that you guys have a defensive tackle change the way that you can do things defensively yeah i mean you're gonna play to your strengths you know and uh that's that's my job is to what do we have and what do we do best and when you have defensive tackles um and i've said it before it it helped our defense so much last year when you have defensive tackles that actually make tackles which is what we have right now it changes the way you call a game you know it certainly helps you be um in better shape on explosive plays on the back end you don't have to do a whole lot to help those guys out because they're making

tackles so you got to go you got to go with that you know you got to you got to let those guys play and and and they're good so um you can't get too far away from the scheme of having those defensive tackles make place because they're doing it and it works uh over to the left Tony Gurdman Buckeye Huddle Jim Ryan talked about the quarterback run being more of a thing with the offense here during the season how much of uh when you're facing a team like that how much does that impact your day-to-day throughout the week preparing for that yeah it's a ton you know it i think it changes everything you do on defense um you see it everywhere from the NFL on down if you have a quarterback who can make plays with his feet your scheme better be designed that you know to to take that away into account for it so it changes the way you look at everything when you're game planning thank you donovan uh over here to the right uh Tim May the Tim May podcast yeah Jim you might be wondering when i asked uh Ryan about just for example Calvin Simpson Hunt but the uh corner scene did you play in almost with the chip owner shoulder to a certain

xtanami Davis and Nick Benoson took the day personally it looked like you know to make is uh some of the height going into the game but uh what what do you see from that group in particular that uh buis you going into this offseason yeah when you can when you have corners that you can count on again it's just like having defensive tackles in the run game when you have corners you can count on that are going to compete all the time no matter what the situation is and we've developed that again it changes the way you call the entire game i mean you you're you're able to leave those guys on an island um you're able to switch out converges and they know what they're doing and they take great pride in it so um having those guys out there in the development it's a big deal it really is yeah i mean he's he did come in late and you know um he compete he's one of those guys that just competes every day doesn't say much you know he's trying to live up to the standard

of the other guys and you you see him coming along you know you see him step by step coming along and and you know put him in a you know competitive atmosphere same step up that's a great sign and final question for coach Knowles dan hope eleven warriors you mentioned cjhicks a few minutes ago have you seen him take the strides you need to see the spring to trust him as a guy who could be a potential starter on his defense yes i mean uh i think cj has shown that uh he has talent and i think it's my job to put him in the best situations for him because he can be a force um you know he's much better when he's bloodsing or he's directed because he's able to use his athletic ability but he has certainly shown that he's going to be able to help this defense coach thank you very much for your time all right and uh we will bring uh offensive coordinator and quarterback's coach chip kelly to

the podium now we'll open up the questions over to the left bill rabbinowitz Columbus dispatch at chip um what are your just general impressions of the offense coming out of spring especially at quarterback we'll look at all 15 so i think you know uh this day is is a big part of it you know because it was the first time they were going to play some of those guys that were going to play in from the crowd and it was an amazing crowd you know you get 80 thousand for spring game now you could see some of the young guys kind of looking around like wow this is different in the indoor um but that's what they have to get ready to play it so um we got better from practice one practice 15 you know it's still in evaluation through the whole process but um it's not something in in the players bill too that we we're not making a decision walking off the field today saying hey this is the direction that we're going in we'll we'll be very authentic and and look through everything and make sure that we get a really good feel for what it all looks like and then who will best move this offense that's that's what our decision's gonna do so I do I think we got a lot of guys there um

that part's tough I think because you got you there's guys that deserve reps you know and they're all competing for it so you know sometimes you'd like to be sometimes when you had a guy who's an initial starter well he's gonna get the bulk of the reps he got him better but um they capitalized on we really rolled him you know if you were at some of our screen practices you're watching all those guys rotate in rotate out um and as we talk about all the time you know the old adges is don't count your reps make your reps count you know and we'll put it all together and really come up with you know which guy do we really feel is gonna make gonna help us move this offensively over to the far right bill landis the podcast kings of the north hey chip um you some of me first talked you that the the basis of a lot of your success running the football is just kind of figuring out what your guys do best and then leading into that over 15 practices now how good of a field do you think you have for that and then what did the next few months look like as you try to piece that all together really good question um it's it's interesting because the one thing that I think sometimes makes it tough in an evaluation is what a good front we want to get

um you know so for 15 practices those guys on the other side of the ball were pain you know Jack and JT and Ty Lee can those guys but I know come fall there's not gonna be anybody more happy that we have those guys in the defense side of the ball because of what they can do so um I still think we'll have to really evaluate that what we're good at what we're not what we got to get better on what we got to work on but I think the work we got against such a quality defense was uh was really key for us uh over to the far left Nathan baird cleveland dot com so you were ago at this time um it came out of the spring with still a lot of question marks about the offensive line um and even I guess that last season came out with question marks what have you seen that progress in the time that you've been here and and what's your confidence level that that offensive line is gonna allow this offense to do everything it wants to do this fall yeah I mean I've been here short amount of time so I didn't know I really don't have anything to compare to so I kind of tabula rasa come in with a blank slate and just observe it and I think we're really athletic um I think donny and and and Seth and those guys inside are really smart and really intelligent um they

allow you to to be able to make adjustments in game um just tucking football with some of those guys it's like well this these guys are wired the right way and a lot of those guys have played a lot of football so um they can bank on their experience there you know I think we we've got about four guys that have played significant amount of snaps and we got to make sure we can find out who the fifth guy is um but that's similar to where the quarterback spot is I think and I also think of the offensive line you you're not gonna play a 16-17 game season and just play with five guys you know you really have to develop your depth there um there's gonna be a number two center that's gonna play a lot of football it's gonna be a number two guard whether it's on either side of the ball there's gonna be a third tackle I think you you're gonna get tested especially with this new in this new playoff format you really have to think that way so you know you're not looking for five starters you're really looking for 10 starters because you're gonna have to you're gonna have to probably play 10 guys to get when you get through a 16-17 game season over to the right Austin Ward the podcast chip I think it was the first play of the game the T-Formation and then the reverse center spin move with Will Howard under what's the inspiration for that package and that sort of uh

rinco with the quarterback mr. Hayes he has uh there's a looming figure around this whole program you know we get to go to work every day and the Woody Hayes athletic center so um there's good enough for Woody we're gonna stay with him we're gonna do it we ran some last year I think we took 21 snaps at UCLA and T been a short yardage formation for us and we've done some different things with it but um also I think our players had a lot of fun you know practicing that and doing some different things so um it's a small part of our offense you know we will not be in the T 21 times in one game but you know we may get it in some short yardage situations and I think it's come back there's a lot of schools right now that um are starting to do that you know it's really just you're trying to you know you got a half a yard to get you know you're trying to get your big guys in the game and I think we use three tight ends and two running backs in our formation today with Packard being the the full back in that situation so um there's a lot of different things you can do in short yardage but um a little bit of a tribute to coach coach Hayes and and what he

means in this program Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch over to the left chip as you look back now you've been here two months 15 spring practices there's something you feel best about what you've been able to accomplish with this offense well I haven't accomplished anything because I didn't take a snap but um I think the most impressive thing since I've been here is how close close this football team is you know some programs talk about the brotherhood this is really a brotherhood our practices as we talked about how good our defense is it's they're highly competitive but they're not combative and and those guys really work very very well together both the old line and the D line the secondary and the receivers um the competition is the but it's got to be the best there is in the country you know and and that makes you better but I think sometimes competition you know guys can lash out and it gets really combative and then all of a sudden the fight breaks out and the fight breaks out and and we're trying to accomplish and get footballed on but I think the way these guys cooperating work together as a group uh as a special bond and I think you're you're going to need the the the closest team and the most connected teams are the ones that win uh over to the right here

Andy Baxter on Letterman role chip obviously there's been a lot of talk about Jeremiah but Amecha is the big return in this group he kind of reminded everyone what he can do today what's it been like working with him and what kind of weapon can he be for you guys good point and Amecha has reminded me and the other 14 practice sessions of what he can do special player you know and and J.J.'s a really talented player also but you know I think I think all of the the whole group a Cornell tape did some really good things watching him this spring and for all of them you know I mentioned it with the offensive line I I came in with a blank slate and I had no opinions formed not that really just wide eyed and just observant but you know that I think that way to receive is really special and I think there's a bunch of guys in there and again when you have to play multiple multiple games after the regular season is over you're going to make sure you're going to need depth like that and the fact that it's you feel a little bit comfortable right now that that we got some guys there that can make some plays in the perimeter and that really dictates how people are going to defend you you know so you got a couple really good running back you know so

are they going to load the box are you really going to load the box and leave those guys in more and more coverage well then it's the quarterback's responsibility to decipher that and get the ball of those guys so or do they at least a double coverage they list a double coverage and now it's a little bit lighter box and you can run the ball so having too many weapons is a good problem to have. Second roll left Pat Murphy 24-7 sports. Chip we've talked a lot about kind of the quarterbacks maybe vying for the starting spot but some of the younger guys what have you seen from them we got an opportunity to see more of them today than we probably have what's your assessment of them as they kind of get in this. I always am so impressed with young guys that enroll early in watching how they get acclimated and what they do you know when you look at Julian and Air and and JJ you know they should be in the hot lunch line of their high school and they're out here playing in front of 80,000 people and they've really progressed when you watch them in meetings and listen to them and they interpret you know so basically the whole concept too is we throw them

in the deep end and see if they can swim you know this we didn't baby anything we don't put the install in with hey you guys are in style we're an install this with the older players and then you guys you know go sit at the kitty table and we're just going to do the really simple things with you you know they get it all and the more they can digest the more when you're in a room when when you're checking for understanding and asking questions and they can spit back to you the more confidence you have when they get in there with the plays that you can call for them so um those guys have been in process they're still learning you know they were the the guys today that were kind of looking around and saying why there's like 80,000 people here along with the offensive coordinator in the quarterback coach because I was kind of looking around because I had actually never been in the stadium until yesterday when we had our 14th practice in there so I played Ohio State once when I was at Oregon but that was in the Rose Bulls I had never been actually in the stadium until yesterday so I caught myself when I went into the stadium today looking around saying 80,000 for spring game that's impressive. Got time for just a few more folks

over here to the right Dylan Davis Delaware Gazette. Given what you just said about throwing them into the deep end what stood out the most about Julian's progression through 15 practices and where he is as you guys head out of spring. Julian is a very fast processor you know he he really thinks very very quickly on his feet like he he makes really quick decisions he doesn't stick on in re-taken progress and any ceasing is really well for for a young player you know in not having been exposed to a lot of college defenses and especially what Jim does you know Jim Jim can make Jim can make a young freshman quarterback cry with some of the stuff he does but you know I never saw that with Jules and I that's been in press of his his ability to retain and you know him and JJ the compliment I would say to him is if you got here and you didn't know what class they were and you wouldn't say that those guys are freshmen in terms of how they've picked things up and you know sometimes freshmen act like freshmen but the guys who are special they don't act like

freshmen you know they act like football players and those are two guys that are examples of that. Far left Cameron T. Robinson the athletic. On the topic of freshmen James People's and Sam got him around the second half. Yeah you talk about how deep you need to be in this era of college for ball but as you search for RB3 what did you see from them today and what is what is their growth been like in this spring? Yeah James really flashed early for for me not knowing again kind of let's just take don't worry about what the background is where they're from who they are the this guy of this stars this guy of that stars it's they're all bakais and there's how they do and I think James has got really good field and vision he can hit things I thought Sam did some really good things today T.C. is another guy who really came along during the spring and work constantly talking in our staff meetings about depth we're very cognizant of the fact that the playoff situation has changed so you have to develop that depth you know used to be maybe have a pair in a spare was what everybody says but I think you may have to have more than that you're

talking about 16 17 games you're you're really going to be tested that way so I was really happy with with how those young guys have come along here in the 15 training sessions that we've had oh here to the right Tim May the Tim May podcast thank you Jerry you have your own podcast yeah like these guys all had like a name next to their channel you're a name okay let's be cool he must have some juice if you got you got your name in your podcast definitely okay by the way I like it it's not just the lunch last hot lunch last one it's a hot lunch line yeah just two quickies number one do you feel compelled to let these quarterbacks know where they stand here you know it's coming up Tuesday you know to me they're yeah you know where does that go I mean in your mind yeah we're all sit down as a staff and visit me don't mind maybe he does an unbelievable job of I think all our players understand where they fit and what what the picture is and we'll give him our assessment this isn't you know we're not going to come back but we do it after every day they know where they stood after practice one after two after three after four

we grade everything they're getting constant feedback in terms of where we are and then after 15 which we had today but but we we can't do it unless you watch the film and can can really look at the the things because you may see something but you're on the sideline you know why did he make that decision well I couldn't really see the field safety from where he was okay now I understand why he made that decision so you know what but they'll we have meetings with all our players and that's that's always been the method so this week during you know between Monday through Friday we're all scheduled no one's going on the road recruiting until after that but we're all applying meetings at every position you know offensive line defensive line linebackers safety is everybody everybody's going to sit down with their position coaches and know where they they fit and we see them but do you feel a pressure with with the transfer portal looming I mean you've been ahead coach for a long time I mean is that on your mind at Tuesday yeah I think yeah I think all the words you got aware of it that I'm 100 percent and I don't think it's pressure but I think you just open lines of communication and everybody knows you know which what your evaluation

was through the training sessions that we have guys we got to have we got real quick at last two questions Dan Hope and then Rob all are feel like you need to have a starting quarterback named by and whatever biggest things you're going to be looking for between now and then and determining who that guy's going to be well between now and and whatever then is we're not allowed as coaches to go back out and in practice with him you know in college football you get 15 training sessions in the in the offseason and then they'll go back to work and with Mick in the in the weight room and getting bigger getting faster getting stronger they'll have organized activities themselves and they they do a really good job of that but once there's a football out like we're not allowed to be there to evaluate and even assess so they're really from a football standpoint on their own until August so you always want to do it earlier but I also believe every time I've been involved in this is that it kind of happens organically and authentically you know because the players know if you say we decided we're going to be with Joe and they all think it's Tim you know they know

they're in the locker room with them every day players players understand you know who they'd feel is the guy and and most of the time it the decision is very obvious you know when you just say this is where we are with it you know but there's that timetable thing I don't I don't I can't give you an exact timetable on that so Rob chip you talk about Julian but typically in your experience you've done again like Tim said a long time long does it take for the game to slow down for a for a young QB I think it depends on the individual you know I've had some kids um where early you know you're like wow Marcus Murray Odo was like that remember vividly second practice and he got to the fifth reading the progression and threw it out here in this big game and I asked him why I do it all I asked why because I just want to understand it and I said why did you do that and he goes I don't know what we call that defense but there was like a lot of guys over there and they didn't seem like there was anybody over there but for him to process at that time he was right and he came

back the other day whether that was cover 60 other day coach like I learned what you guys call the coverages but um it all happens differently I've got guys that for two years seem like they're just you know they're really struggling and then the light bulb goes off and you know whoa like they got it so um everybody has different learning styles you know our job and the evaluation process is to identify those learning styles so you know they're cognitive learning they an auditory learner you know do they do they learn by field is it is it more a field guy you know a more film guy you know it's all different and I think we have to keep poking and prodding and in in for us as coaches that's the challenge too is what is their best learning style and how can we convey it because education basically is just a transportation knowledge but it really doesn't matter what I know or what Ryan knows it matters what they know so that's that's always kind of what we're working on and studying and thinking about and kind of where we are and how much can they handle and then how much is too much you know because this may be a great play I agree 100 percent but if he

don't feel it's a good play then then why is it in you know I mean and that's that's this whole feeling up process that we're all they're learning awesome we're learning them so I have identities so to coaches really running quarterbacks and something you've always sort of lean toward or is it year by year case by case what advantages do you like about because all your guys can run a little bit yeah I think a running quarterback causes problems for defense so when when plays break down the unscheduled plays you know if you just go back to the recent Super Bowl on that last drive the two big plays where my home's run the petrol my home's another runner and he's not calling design quarterback runs for Pat but when the defense matches up and plays two men and turns their back to the quarterback well maybe the best decision is to take off you know the second one he took out I'm like he may score you know a lot of guys go and they want a hook side you know and and and there's times where you have to understand if you do have a running quarterback we talk about

the best of the best ability is availability you know you're not lowering your shoulder and taking people on but we are always looking for quarterbacks that have the ability to run we're not looking for running backs that can throw you know so you're not going to see us 20 times a game we're running the quarterback there are people that run offensive styles and are really successful with it but with this group we have right now that's not now they can hurt you with the feet we'll did it when he was at case eight you know obviously Devon took off a couple times today air took off a couple times today Lincoln's a really really good athlete Julian can run but you know we're not calling design quarterback runs you know you're not going to see you know I tremendous respect for coach Hayes and the legacy that he left here this straight T is about as far as we go we are not going single wing so we are not going to snap it and run quarterback ISO and quarterback power so but it is a it's another weapon you know and if it also keeps defense is honest you know three defense events is going to continue to bend from the quarterback pulls it he's on the edge and he's gaining first downs well then the defensive Van has to stay outside and contain the quarterback

well then we can run the ball up and and hand the ball off sometimes in our running game our quarterback really is a blocker he's responsible for a defender if the defender was cheating and fitting it on the run well then his responsibility is to make make the defense be honest and and that's really air did that a couple times today and we had a block that safety was sticking his face in there so we took off around the edge what happens in next play the defense is wider then what do we get to do we get a chance to hand the ball off to the running man great coach thank you so much for your time and thank you for being a buck I all right thanks it was definitely addressed here you know this preseason I think Austin Sarah they'll stepped up in a big way you know with the Donnie being out and and then you know Carson can can play both guard and center which is good and you know we've actually you know San has done a nice job as well but it was good to see Austin you know he moved from guard to tackle a couple times and even with the ones he was in their battling his tail off so I think we have built some depth there but again you know we got to go play some games and see what's the main thing you want to see out of the old line you know you know again whether

it's whatever happened last year is last year but I know that the message to our to our offensive line is we want to play I want to be the hardest playing in the offensive line in the country now we've got to play with technique but at the end of the play like knock the line of scrimmage back and play with your hair on fire as hard as you possibly can there's a lot that goes with the playing in the offensive line it's all the communication there's a lot of things that have to get into the place I think Seth has done a nice job of communicating and it's getting the offense better now it takes control up front and brings everybody together which is great but to me like that's it now we could list a bunch of other things but to me we've got to move the line of scrimmage we've got to be just playing with our hair on fire and knocking people back and playing physical and that's to start the game that's the end of the game this is a destination spot for wide receiver you can do it or that's really a good idea maybe not for a line you see that definitely and how do you get over that on fire now I don't see it that way at all I think you know we'll see what we got this year but I feel like you know we've got some really good young players in the system I think that we should have the best offensive line in the country that's that's the standard here

has been for a long time and you know and so you know we'll keep pushing towards that this year you know I think you know everybody in that room it's like the same thing yeah so uh sunny has really stepped up and played well he's made this transition from safety to linebacker very well I think you did a nice job in the spring but you could definitely see as he went into the the summer it's just you know bigger stronger being more comfortable closer to line of scrimmage it's different when you're closer to line of scrimmage I was doing a better job getting his you know hands on you know on offense alignment and getting off of blocks using a better job doing a better job with his hands like he understands the communication the linebackers always have to be involved at the front they can be involved and fit into the back end he's doing that you know I think he's he's you know looking forward to play playing in a game and you know getting an idea of what it all looks like but I can tell you in practice he's playing fast

he's playing violent and I think he's you know he does a nice job of taking the meeting in the field being very intentional about his work but playing really hard yeah I haven't talked to Jim because you know we'll make that final decision here over the weekend but he's certainly leader in the club can you tell Ryan I mean Sepp McLaughlin can tell he's been there done that is he as he projected that to the offensive line you're still and I'm saying for the leadership stand going a grown man yes how does that just come up how does it show up a bunch of ways it just poise it's not getting rattled when you know coach parks at you it's you know okay I got this let me get it under control it's seeing something in practice and being able to adjust on the move it's being prepared when you walk on the field it's recognizing how hard you have to play at the position it's you know kind of all of those things into one but he's got great communication up front

he talks to the guys he's moving quickly in there and when you have experience like he has you know the game seems to slow down at times yet you know he seems to be playing it I've had a fast lover hey there was a point where he got a black stripe off and I feel like he took a step in the right direction when you come in in the summer it is very difficult to get on the field especially early in the season whether he does or not I will see but if he could use the practice way that he's been practicing then he'll give himself a chance to be in the rotation maybe with you the season or later in the season which is similar to some of the water series he had before you know you've seen some of those guys get some reps early in the season but then make an impact later in the season I think that's probably more his path right now now you know

shows up and starts doing great and you know we'll you know we'll give him the reps he deserves or like Jeremiah is in a different situation because he came in here in January and he was a little bit ahead anybody who comes in and January to me I don't look at them as a freshman anymore they've been here they're in the program and we expect them to contribute to the next level of training and then you can actually do a little bit of training for the coach and the coach and the coach and the coach and the coach and the coach and the coach um you're still in there um right there um talking and communicating but um in the stream as we've had it's you know it's it's been offense for his defense so I've mostly been on the offensive side still kind of going through all those types of things and there's a lot to work through this year just with you know the play clock and then uh to put on a mean that is you know the close to play communication inside of 15 goes off just there's a lot of things that go go on

there and we don't really get notification on that so I'm trying to you know just help chip with that and some some communication that we're a personnel um but I'm going to very much involved with special teams I think with a two minute warning there's some strategic things that are going to go on again and a half in the game that you know you're ever really being involved with but to your point just overall just looking guys in the eye and making sure that you know uh they have to write looking their eye you know that you know they they understand um you know with the situation what's going on in the game you know like that happens sometimes the young players you know they're just like playing the next play you know like that's not just how that's not how it works we'll get to win the situations and so you know all those things will come into play and make it in game adjustments um you know be involved with on all three faces you know watching you know the game in a tab with the try to identify what happened in the last series I think all those things will be happening right now uh Nick is going to be the starter um and uh you know that that competition will go into next week but uh right now as we head into the weekend he is the

starter um and the plan is ready to go first part of what we do on Saturday against accurate you he's got a strong leg he's he's made it um a good transition into um you know the country but also just playing you know football um and not Australian football which is very very different um the um you know snap to kick is really improved you know that was one thing he has a he's a taller guy so the ball has to get out of this you know get out this fish faster I think he's done that his time time has been good uh and he's been more consistent um you'll see you know he'll he'll kick a few but just go right out of the stadium and you just got a strong strong leg so we're looking for that consistency he's he's shown that here most recently so uh he's got the upper hand right now and last question to your neighbor? well, I don't know if it's because Will maybe took a little bit longer to make the decision in December of them some of the other top of the line quarterback to let's be scared or because maybe there was a thought he wasn't going to be

to start the Arkansas State this year but it seems like people have viewed him kind of as a game manager type of quarterback after eight months with him where do you see his ceiling of what what what is Will's special traits do and where do you see him taking something? I see um you know a bunch of traits there I think the first trait of size is big he can stand in the pocket and see he's strong um so I mean that's the first thing to notice about him again whether it's standing in the pocket with boys I think that's another trait that he has that's excellent he he feels the rush um but he stands right in there I think the next trait is just you know his his top end speed and he can run 22 miles an hour at that size which uh there's not a lot of guys who can do that so I think that's the extraordinary trait and now I would say his overall leadership commands in the huddle is is another you know something that he's he's really you know grown into in the last few months and he's been here and then his accuracy he's been very

accurate since he's been here um and when he knows what's going on and he can't explain what's happening I mean it looks right just feel and and he can hurt you you know a bunch of different ways so um yeah his ceiling that that's that's going to be kind of you know up to how he plays this season but um you know I see a player who has a lot of great skills that you know translates well to the next level so yeah we'll see but uh I know his first focus is on winning games around here plays meaning you have nerves naturally so that's first complaint I was good I was rolling also there's a weird meme first time a striker fight in the last day it was also been a first star yeah um you yeah it's but like I prepared well um and camp and practice all week

and I was I was ready um yeah I have two multi-year starters I did a lot I mean I couldn't ask them hey what we got here but I was prepared well I mean I was telling Jimmy and says like I would play our class later I'll be emotional excited it wasn't just that's a guy from Ohio what does it mean they started the game um it was always my dream to come here and play and start and having that like I mean I just like keep going keep building those days and those games and keep building what a much younger Austin don't you know you're supposed to do it that uh no not I don't think even I told like me I asked my younger self even committing and I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts yeah awesome has this happened faster than you

no I knew that year two I was gonna see you some playing time now starting week one year two I didn't see that but like I was ready in spring ball like I knew I was going I was going to play some stuff but what does it mean to you to it's not only get the opportunity to play but it's like you play well enough now I think coaching staff trust you if they just look out there whatever the situation goes with the earned that so where are we on the year two I guess it shows like my preparation my hard work and just everything I put into this and I went showing up on field there are moments the offseason you need me in the spring and you can't kind of realize that you could play at this high level power with the ones you know if you know you get yeah uh the definitely was in a training camp I mean blocking highly can tie every day so like it feels like it feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting involved or anything so there's defensive tag wasn't that was the guy that you

hero in Jason Moore and Taiwan all those guys pretty much anyone on the deepened line you should fix all the time so and Kay mag as well so yeah he's put a lot of a lot of effort to collect the power of the stability and the great thing is how much can he help you and get your experience and he helped me a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not someone else's but um I mean he's like the captain of the line he's another voice on the line with guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons Donnie and Tiger that means another voice and another captain on the look ways of having the and I'm with this much experience help man a lot he can tell you like before the play what's going on like how to block someone like what you need to do and like helps a lot Tiger talking about how calm he is how much does that benefit of you have a guy who's kind of been there and it makes us more calm like especially me and Tae does our first start so like we were up here

with what what Seth like he brought us down I mean we were like five like our emotions weren't high we settled in is that like something he tells you is that something you can pick up on by how he's acting how do you kind of sense what he's trying to say about how he's acting and what mean him when we're on the side of him both Josh Donnie like he was telling us like hey we're cool like we got it but it's pretty much like everyone old cool group how much do that as a first time starter how much did you add in that though me and a lot and that was my first time ever using high pads we didn't use the iPads in high school but I mean you can just say like try to remember the defense you can just come on a silent bring up a play and get help up really probably the first or second but after that I thought we say oh and settle it awesome thank you very much that's why you're playing well yeah because you've been a part of me settled again to go that's um I want to say maybe I don't know but I mean when I

first heard you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo you know I mean I'm I'm playing basketball all life in seven football and I feel like just the fast pace offense that we're running really fits the guys we have right now I'm really excited for that I know you can throw a football exercise but can you kick a football 75 years ago I think I just know all right what's your question how is your uh your room man he's a blessing man I can't you're playing he's a great guy what's his name's linking teen hoes oh he's cleaner I think we're both really clean that's why we kind of picked each other's really it's because we're very clean and we don't like our words really messy well it's true though it's a true it's a real pretty clean song look are you still cross-training it's an outdoor song or if you just been on guard this way oh so far I've been all guard um I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice I practice I've been in that being back attack like that and I'm but no I'm just really focused in on this past practice

that mean a lot um you know you put a lot of work in to play here it's been a dream just from being in Ohio kid is I'm from Ohio kid's perspective it's I mean that's the biggest switch possible I would say that's that'd be pretty cool what was it like just last year it was a game getting on the field for the first time it didn't fly this can be a weird answer but it feel like I was playing a game you know if that makes sense I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing really I just went in that first game was like shoot out here now it's time to roll you know it didn't really hit me I was like it didn't even hit me after like my mom was like what'd you feel there and if like get out there at the end of the night I just like honestly I don't know I felt less than there's that in high school and I have makes no sense um a lot I mean I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin I think prior to when my biggest role models here is my bigger big brother when I first came up I'm up to be okay yeah no yeah yeah so yeah

PD and Austin those are my guys man I mean even Miles too I mean all three of them that's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on and I'm excited to see where they where they can get to and I'm excited to play the field with them oh yeah you know I've been really helpful you know just keeping my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play it's a great question um like I said I mean I just need to say consistent in my work I think that's the biggest thing for me is just ain't consistent I'm worried about the next one absolutely I mean when you see defensive and you see defensive start arguing with each other and things like that I mean that makes it a lot easier you know have those 10-11 all right play drops and what does that like

I mean it feels good to rip off these runs because I mean we put them so much more to those in practice and you know seeing a seeing a mother you know that hard work you know take reserve since that uh his offensive line wise is you'll prepare this week with the doctor back in there the cover of the first half really this season uh you know it's not for taking Austin it's just more of a down with Jackson pretty seasonal American etc I don't mean enjoying the work you know done of injections of very good sugar player man when he's on the field he makes his present stuff I mean we've all been training on my home for a year and a half and he's just going to move and he's all right we did say we know it can be yeah there's a secret there's a sense of watching you guys actually you're even more of a force it felt like watching you guys they mean maybe even they know you did it feel like that yeah I mean we put in the work during practice we practice really hard coach day really challenges it practice hard positions coaches really

challenges it practice hard I was just a result but when it's growing like that what should you like being in the mix and ever being upon it it's us it's when you work hard for something and you're able to see like what comes out of it like that's there's no better feeling in it okay no I mean I was really funny to see take a what what has Seth been while from the first two games what's it been like playing next time for the last two he's you know he's really calm and stormed you never see real panic and having a guy like that met you and you know you're having really played as many meetings for snaps there's no one outside of that's in my left and some are right you know for and Seth

those guys they do so much for this offensive line he's people talk about his intelligence really kind of showing up in the film and then on the field where have you noticed that intelligence and how is that helped you oh yeah like I said and crunched him you know when when things aren't exactly looking like how we practice it you know having a guy like that that will slow down we'll do this this this and then we execute having a guy like that like this there's none better now you know what you got what's my favorite cake no brother oh no I almost came back to cook this on a kiss and more yeah

good to invite you to do what you see yeah those those guys here they're real players they're real players you can tell their coach well you can tell they go hard you know they're real players over there we've been practiced into the best of our abilities you know expect and I'm prepared for that they play they play good ball over there and you know their defense plays hard they they challenged teams you know sometimes they might be overlooked and they still challenged teams you know you can tell they come out there with the mentality like no matter reason for me um I mean the actions right there right in front of you right now which is kind of a good thing

and kind of a bat then you should shift off the rest you know hitting back in it inside yeah I mean I um I hear from Paris every once in a while trying to not sit by there I'm too much but um it's it's always it's always good to hear from guy like that guys like the one even Matt Jones would turn him back then for this year uh just uh be able to defend that job well no skill set me um I think my weight my just my height is more regard height when I'm faster my feet and I'm just saying that you can have some still sometimes like basketball want to be on that dislike defend but you know you gotta stay in stitch going on some blocks exactly

yeah that's a very question I mean I don't think I feel like these two can answer that for the year right now I think KK here okay answer that uh well I don't know I don't know what to say about that what do you know what to say about that I go to the next day you know this man is strong ready I'm talking about like he had the basketball here I mean he's not like he could just do a thing like he was kind of really fine but just to hope that I can put some hand and he got the grip right in his face he doesn't keep up on the playing like he said he's gonna go in and watch the film he's doing a lot of good and better man you can see it on the field you can see it on the field you can see it on the field he's sound like a coach man he's sound like a coach should Kelly's influence change your mind about maybe like the idea of tackle versus Darwin because obviously his offensive predelitionals were like yeah the offensive blind play run game as you've been a part of me settling in the ground

that's um I would I want to say maybe I don't know but I mean when I when I'm for sure you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo you know I mean I'm I don't play basketball all life in set of football and I feel like just the fast pace often so we're running really fits the guys we have right now I'm really excited for that I know you can throw football 65 guys but can you kick a football 75 yards and Lincoln just I probably question Lincoln what was your question how was your uh your roommate at the field he's he's a blessing man I can't complain um he's a great guy what's his name's Lincoln keen holes oh he's cleaner I think we're both really clean that's why we kind of pick each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our friends really messy well it's true though it's the truth it broke pretty quickly so you're you're still a cross-training attack go some or if you just been all guard this break uh so far I've been all guard um I really don't know like I said I'm taking

the practice I practice I could end up being back attack I could not but no I'm just really focused in on this past practice is the connection one so yeah oh that mean a lot um you know you put a lot of work in to play here and it's been a dream just for being in a high okay it is I'm from a high-oh kids perspective it's I mean that's the biggest wish possible I would have thought I would have said that's it'd be pretty cool what was it like last year first game getting on the field for the first time it didn't like this can be a weird answer but it feel like I was playing a game if that makes sense I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing really I just went in that first game was like shoot out here now it's time to roll you know I didn't really hit me I was like it didn't even hit me after but no I'm like what'd you feel there and it's like getting out there at the end and I was like honestly I don't know I felt less nervous I didn't high school and I'd make some no sense
