I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. So you make him a place that you're making right now. What allowed you to come in here? That's pretty good. Like you said, maybe he's playing for you. Like you ready to just run away? And I guess what is it that you're doing? And then they're already there. Well, there's been ups and downs, but it's mostly just trying to work and every day it's like the same and trying to get better. And yeah, that's pretty much it. I just filled it with the black thread. Really good. It was a great accomplishment. Definitely a good thing, but I'm still more focused now on playing, getting better, and still competing. What's your view? Just on on Saturday. You never mean that. Did you feel a little special on Saturday because there were a couple of spectacular catches mixed in and all of that? What was it like to have that show? It was. It was good to make places a great feeling to make plays. It's just a work that I've put in and just looking forward to continue to do that. How much does it inspire you to see what Jeremiah did last year in the sea,

but a freshman can come in and make a future back right away? Well, it knows that I can't do it. Anybody can do it. It's just putting the work in knowing that it's possible. A lot of guys from New Jersey come in here and have a lot of success at Ohio State. How do you feel like playing in New Jersey is helpful for parries for the physical for the hot day? Good. It's good competition. Definitely in that league that I played in. I've burdened Catholic. We had a lot of competition and good work. And yeah, a lot of kids, people from Jersey here as well, and they're really good as well. What inspired you when you see what guys like Robert Scoti, Ronnie and Christopher have done here? Yeah, it's good. Knowing that people from Jersey were either or also doing really good. So it's a great thing. Before much you've got the chance to name like the opportunities that you have to be in that stadium for the first time. What do you want to try to do that with? I want to say just to be able to play in front of a lot of people, more people, and just play and get better early. The four months you've been here in the chance to learn behind Jeremiah, what's something you've maybe picked up on from him?

I'll say just the way the consistency that he has and just consistently really everybody has here. That's like the expectation here is to have great consistency. I just do it one play, but every play. Jeremiah says you already have that work done. Do you feel obligated to have that kind of thing when you're just waiting and sharing the work done with the DMS? As much nerve-racking as you already have is, do you feel like you have the same someone with a couple of things? Yeah, I feel like I have a really good work done. Worth that thing. But I mean, you always want to add something. Always try to get better. I feel like that's the main goal of the day. Of course you're going into spring to establish yourself. Did you have a goal in mind of spring in terms of making your name though? For me, really my goal was just tunnel head down work and just let my work ethic and my play just happens. I end up. And you said that you were one of the artist workers on the team. How much does it mean to have that vote of confidence from him and Jeremiah and I?

Oh, good. The worth ethic is really just the mindset I came in with. That's just like, I want to get better. Designed. And that's from the start. I want to just keep that goal through. What do you do? I've got that since break practice started. I'm personally everything, but I would say routes and be able to move a little bit better. What's your thing then? What are the questions for Quintzy guys? What are new and still here work out for me? I would say it started really as a kid and then going into burgeon. I was kind of also the standard there. And then of course, it's the standard here. Of course, so it's just been through that growing. And that's really what it came from. Is there an expectation of being that kind of guy here now in this room? I mean, this wide-receive room? Almost everyone of you guys walked into a room where everybody's working, right? What is that room like? It's definitely high expectation. Hard work. Everybody's competing against each other.

Not just the defense. So it's a real competition, real room. And you really are competing against everybody there. It's real work. That's what we've recruited. Obviously, the reputation is really good. How different is it? No way you're hearing that reputation is from guys who have been in here for a while. And I still think it's good to be here tonight. Oh, yeah. You think you're going to come in and you're just going to be eating with. It's not easy. You're kind of finding a place what to do. You're learning. It'll become your own. Quintzy, is it fair to be asking you questions about your freshman year? And also mentioning Jeremiah Smith's freshman year considering like, is it fair to you for us to mention that it's senior, his freshman year when we're talking to you? Those are expectations that nobody should ask. Well, I don't really take anything personally. I mean, expectations, I'm just trying to exceed all expectations, still play hard. And you still work hard. And let the change of it that way. Thank you. Quintzy, thank you very much. Thank you, Nancy. Okay. For sure.

For sure. Yes, sir. I'm talking about what you're going to do. As you go along with your spring practice, what have you learned from him? Is it kind of what we expected to be? Just so for sure. I feel like in the recruiting process, he kind of let you know how he wants to coach all stuff. And I feel like when you get here, it's just it's a whole lot of level. He's going to keep coaching well. He's going to be hard on you. He's going to tell you what you're doing. He's going to tell you what you're doing along. You're just going to push it to be your best. They have been moving all over. Yes, moving all over. Yes, sir. What was it like for you just getting to be here and see, you know, this team win an national championship in the first few weeks on campus? It was crazy. I feel like I knew that they were going to do it from the beginning of the season. I feel like they always had the potential. And then they came out here that did it. And the freshmen we had an opportunity to sit there and watch it. So I feel like now we just got to do it again. What did you learn from that? Just watching about it. It's just all hard work. And it's just a bunch of guys.

And it's really a brotherhood. And it's really just our family versus their family. And we just got a person here and we got to win the games and give back to the men. The first outline was saying that Car Nallen ran and have really been leaders in the Barcelona. What if they both didn't lead us for you and me every single year? They've been leaders just in multiple ways. Whether our column, we're in their in the film room together on the jugs. I'm asking them about this route. How I can run it better. I'm asking them how I run this route on this play. Just many different things. I feel like those guys, they're like big brothers and all that that has helped me. A valuable is that to have guys that are playing like football. And also been in college for a while. So we're doing good ask and experience. Things about college life. I'll value it. It's real valuable for sure. Because they're their first round pit guys. So I feel like just being in a room with those guys. And if you're able to thrive with those guys, you know, some's going good for you. His pressure has been quarterbacked. I get specific. It's a pressure company. What have you kind of known about him and learned about having a relationship with Tavian?

He recruited me hard to come here. So I feel like we always talked and he came here and he's been doing this thing. They've all been doing their thing. And Julian saying he's another Cali Kissel. I had a little relationship with him too. So good to see Julian Lincoln and Tavian all doing real good. What is that next step for you to look around? What do you want to do? What do you want to do better? It's great. It's great. I just really just everything. I feel like you can never be too perfect. And I feel like you just got to keep doing your job. So I say maybe just just showing up more and just doing my job to the team. Going against these corners of these DBS. How does that kind of lead you better? It's their first time. High school. In high school, I had a five star corner DJ DJ on Lee. He's at Alabama. So I always had good work with corner. So I feel like it's just a lot. I'm going against a lot of good guys now. Instead of just being one on one that practice with DJ. So it's real good for sure. Does it take more courage to play with slot? Say it again, please.

Does it take more courage to play with slot? What do you mean by that? Because there's more stuff. But I think there's bigger hitters inside. You have to have a thing. You've got to be aware of it. But it does. It's a great work courage to do that. I guess you can say that. I feel like I've just always played slot. And I feel like that's what I've been better at. So I feel like it's just what I have to do to be on the spot. No matter who's in front of me, how big he is, how strong he is. I feel like if I got an assignment, I've got to do it. It's the happens. And we've got guys who are able to play anything. It's been like two weeks, what are your thoughts on Coach Patricia? Man, I really like Coach Patricia a lot. He's a big, you know, he's a big hitter. He's a big, you know, it's what can he do for you? Not what can you do for him? And he's just trying to serve and help. And I've learned so much football in this past two weeks. More than I've learned in my whole lifetime. So it's been great having him. And he's a good coach and he teaches.

And he's talking to me on the mic, telling me what I see and stuff. And it's just, I feel like I'm getting a lot smarter and processing things a lot faster. That's the difference for you coming out of last year with the injury and everything. What it has been like to take the feet under you and kind of get over the building? I mean, it feels good. I was kind of just throwing right into it and fall camp. I thought I did a pretty well job, you know, just kind of getting thrown into the fire. But, you know, now after coming back this year and just things are, things click a lot, a lot easier in this. And I feel like this defense is everyone's clicking. I'm really studying as much as I can. I mean, I just live up here all day. You know, it's great having sunny and then just, even like a guy like Cody last year, just the level of preparation he had every single day was, I'm like I've ever seen anyone. He knew what everybody was doing every single play. And so that's what I'm just trying to have trust in the coaches that I can, I know what's going on at all times so I can go in there and do my job. What feels different about this defense is the good,

you're a sure runner. I mean, we picked up on that with new on-swives when you think, what do you think, what do you think you feel a little bit different? I think he's just, he's big into playing the player's strengths. Like, if I'm better at this, he's going to put me in this position. If I'm better at this, he's going to put me more in this position. Just a little bit of that. I mean, we haven't really done much. It's only been two weeks, but guys are playing to their strengths. And just getting better. I mean, that's just, and we're doing a lot of fundamental stuff, not too much scheme. Just, you know, working on tackling, getting off blocks, being available in the mentality of something. But if you notice two coach learning, it's over a years time, change a little bit, and it's teaching, where do you want to call him, who's actual? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I would say, Ryan, he's the best linebacker coach in the country. I mean, he knows everything about it, especially, you know, with Patricia being in the NFL. He's definitely, you know, he knows it all and stuff. So he's done good, man.

It was kind of hard for him. I think it was a little hard, you know, because he was kind of just thrown in. Like, I was just thrown in the mix. He was trying to give me as many reps as I could get in fall camp. And I'm really grateful for that. I mean, it was hard for me. Like, you know, when fall camp kind of ended, my reps really, you know, cut down. But he did a good job of, you know, keeping me with the defense and watching all the plays and stuff and just talking me through everything. And, you know, we built a great relationship. And I couldn't be. I'm not grateful to have him as my coach. How did you think you handled the last question? We had a great fight. Were there any moments where you thought to yourself, like, oh, I'm not ready for this one. You feel pretty good. I felt pretty good. I mean, I, like I said, wrestling, you kind of get forged in fire. And so, I think it's just a little bit of that. I think the really the hard part for me was just, you know, just consistently waking up every day and doing it, the mental side of it. Especially, I mean, you just don't know a lot of stuff. I mean, you hadn't never done it before. But I wouldn't say the physical stuff was hard. I mean, obviously it was hard, but, you know, growing up wrestling

and, you know, having older brother beat up on you a little bit. It went too bad. Did you see that you picked up more special teams with bounce abilities, especially in the playoff? You're staff council these were higher. Were you doing more by that one this season that you had, like, heard a little bit more? Yeah, 100%. I mean, I was kind of on all four phases just trying to do my job. And just show I'm accountable every week. And just, you know, guys will go down and stuff and step up. And, you know, being on kickoff and kick return, and get some power turn reps and even some punt reps. And, you know, I was really grateful to have those, you know, just being, even just being in the games and the playoff games, you know, seeing the stadium and being on the field and having a responsibility. You made a lot that they were willing to put me out there and they trusted me enough to do my job. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Because, again, I think, especially as an offense, that's really been where my mind's been kind of, been kind of noticing the trends as far as our offense can

we speak on a lot of other things. But in terms of, like, just the unity of the field, I think, has been remarkable. Just the time spent away, I think. Obviously, they could have did all that same stuff here, but it's different when you get to take a trip somewhere. You know, you get to go to UCLA, use a facility where it's not, you know, thousand degrees or not. You know what I mean? So I think it's awesome to see them get together and do stuff like that. One of the off-season then will it can't be in terms of just being on the same page with whoever is ever next to you with left guard and establishing that continuity there. Yeah, I mean, I think just going into this off-season, I knew that. Just going to, you know, as far as who would be the left guard is what was going to be up in the air. So I think for me, just starting out, I took it something that was kind of important to me that whoever was, everyone competing for that spot, I wanted to create a bond with them because I feel like a tackle guard bond is important in terms of communication and understanding

because, again, a left tackle is always goes as guard is and vice versa. You know what I mean? I feel like I've done a good enough job so far of starting to develop that relationship with each potential guy. So that way as we, as spot, as the spot is getting, you know, as people started to compete for that spot, again, I feel like I should be able to pop in with whoever and we should continue to keep the standard of the standard. If that makes sense, that's my mindset. There's a guy competing for a spot and I've never spent any time with him just one on one during the summer and just taking reps before camp. Hey, what's coming to facility is to XYZ. Let's talk about this tape XYZ, then they come in and then now there's no kind of flow. So now I'm not really seeing how that, how we're going to fit together, but I want to fit with as many people at left guard as possible that way when the situation's been made. There's no new startup process. I got a startup of my process with this guy.

It's kind of already been flowing, that makes sense. That's what tackles a position that draws a lot of focus. Are you in any cases more pressure than a position on one mind? In your opinion, what is the problem mindset to succeed at that position? I think that the mindset for me has always has been that when I win my, one on one, the ball goes down the field. You know what I mean? So, and I think that's what I'm most excited about just being a left tackle is that, especially with the protections that are a little bit, a longer plays where the left tackle tends to be, a one on one or my, my, the plays I tend to love the most because kind of like halfway through the play if you're locking them up and you just know that he can't go anywhere, start to smile a little bit, you're like, oh dude, ball's gone. You know what I mean? Like ball's gone and it's going to be a touch that's going to be a huge gain. So I think for me that's kind of the mindset you kind of have to have at the left tackle spot as soon as I win like my rep, we're going down the field.

So that's just a mindset I have in terms of how well I have to prepare. How do you want the mindset where the people able to get there? Honestly, I'll say that mindset kind of came from college. Again, obviously I played with a lot of great guys in college, you know, I'm glad we have all of those guys here. You know what I mean? To throw the ball to as well just because against one of those things like with CJ, you just again, a left tackle, my mindset was just, well, at CJ just do his thing and that's my thing. I want Kyle already be able to do his thing. Don't worry about whoever's over here, just do your thing. That's why you're here and just throw at the Marvin. And you know, it will be, it will be good. You know what I mean? So that's something excited about. And I think all that starts because of what we do on the line. So when I think just not just myself but the entire room takes pride in, hey, like when we do our job upfront, that's where everything else goes. So let these guys we have with the ball in their hands do all that magic. We just got to do our job just to entertain it when you're one on one, you know.

We're doing a, just playing that, that's fine. It means something special just because of the history of that position and you know, just of all the greats that have played left tackle. I mean, do you ever think about just the past and the, you know, the, the players before you who were in that spot and did great things? Yeah, I mean, again, I feel like just from, just as a young guy in a game, I of course try to, I like to watch the, the greats the game. I like to watch guys like, a weight worth of course, you know, a really Anderson, you know, he played on the right side, but again, I think continuing to watch the greats that played the game just can take the dominate. For those guys, for me, be able to talk to them again to be able to learn from their story and their journey and how they developed. Of course, I understand I want to create a, I want my game to be able to be like there's in a way to where it's talked about in a way of like, that's a guy you need to watch just to watch with, you know, the fight that you played with,

the finish that you played with and the technique you played with, because those guys played almost 20 years, you know what I mean. So, and again, I think that's something when you watch the guys, though, the legendary guys come before, yeah, you know, they're strong and they're tough guys, but, you know, I don't know, but when you're like 36, 37 years old, you're probably not that strong. Not as strong as you used to, but that technique and just the skill set, that's something that I admire. You mentioned earlier about the guys going out to UCLA and kind of getting out of the heat. I'm curious, when you're working out here, do you do anything outside or do you avoid it altogether right now? I don't know, I'm always outside. I'm always outside. Honestly, I don't mind the heat. I love the heat. And honestly, for me, it helps I'm off like 30-20, so I kind of warm up quickly. So, it's kind of nice for my warm up. I don't have to be doing like 30 minute warm up. You know, you kind of just be outside long enough, collect this. And your joints are on go. So, I actually, I like it a lot.

Going back to the players that have been in the league for a while, Calvin Beachham is one of those guys that's been in the league for a decade plus. What have you been able to learn from him? I think, again, just learning how to be a pro in terms of certain things, like for example, I'm a guy that when I like to train by myself, I just take a thousand reps of a set, a thousand reps of a reach block. I'm a rep, rep, rep, rep, and tie-fig. I've done a hundred times in a row perfect. And some of that beach is like talking about in terms of being a pro. I thought to me, that's me being a pro is a young guy. I have a lot of reps in my body. So, I'm going to take a lot of reps and preparation, but Beach is a guy where it's like, it's not about necessarily the quantity in terms of its really through the quality. But even more so, he's like, you know, you're off season, you don't got to be doing something like this. Every single day, but when you do it like from your first rep, even your first rep, it's not like you're, I'm taking this rep, it wasn't good. It's going to be better on the second one, like each rep, even when you're by yourself,

is just kind of, I guess a mind cell, I just give yourself 15 reps instead of doing 60 reps. And it sounds like a huge difference, but to me, I don't mind taking 60 reps from by myself, and there's nobody that's waiting around on me, and I'm by myself, I can take my time and I'll do that, but just being like, I'm going to do 15 perfect reps, and I'm just going to slow down and take all my time, stuff like that. That way your body, that way you're not, you're not doing too much before camp, you know. Many of the guys that left guard in the mix were here last year, except for Evan. How does that relationship develop throughout other real-life season? Yeah, I mean, so honestly, that's my guy. We've been competing in the weight room since day one in terms of just like, what we consider like athletic competitions, so like even in the weight room, I'm at the very end of the week when we're done lifting. I'll talk to Evan and I'll be at an hour's stand, and we'll just do some sort of competition,

whether it's grip or whether it's jump or where it's pull-ups or something, and I don't let him wave until I beat him in the least two things. So if we do a jump thing, and like, I always thought it was the best kind of, I had the most height when I jumped out of a line, I could dominate anybody, beat me in that surprising size of art, and then we're hopping on a bike, and then we did this bike thing, I beat him on a bike, and now we're doing pull-ups, so I beat him on a personal kidnabicon leave. But we just have that, and we're always just competing, and then again, obviously, he wasn't on the team with us last year, but I think what he brings to the table with being a vet is that he's like a plug and play guy. He knows, he's been in those scenarios before, he's played with guys like Penae when he was with Detroit, so obviously, he's just being able to talk to him and how this is how it was when I was setting with Penae, this is how it was, and I was saying to C.O.X, these are the different things that I can do that may or some things, like in your game, how you set, and I'll talk to him about what I like to do in certain scenarios,

and how his set can sort of match that, because that makes sense, so I think he adds a lot. What's the longest you've stayed after until you beat him? To the point where Sean Cooch is like, you guys got to go. You guys should go, we're not trying to break any rules around here, but it's just me and him just going, and he loves it, so, and even us starting to do, we started to get other guys in the O'Line that tried to hop in on our competition for fun, but only matters what be Evan, I'm just beating you. So it's fun. I'm sure you've seen the highlights of the Perk and Dad career there,

that's like, I mean, I've seen a lot of you guys, like, walking here and seeing him all along. I don't know, yeah, seeing it like he said, seeing some walls and stuff like that, it was awesome. Does he say, does he say that in the same team? I see, I see. What's the question? What's the biggest thing that you've ever been able to guide in how our ideas can actually make them so different? It's a good question. I definitely thought it was a good question. And apparently, how do you want to get this? Oh, absolutely. The tight ends, I've been super welcoming, the GH, Sean, and Chris Cooch, they're super welcoming to the general athletes.

And he's just great to see how many people are here to talk to you. Oh, absolutely. Oh, you just got this one. I'm really seeing it. I touched on a brief that earlier, and he says a bunch of guys in the same room, and it's not that too much of a jump. At first, I thought it was. I mean, that once you just play football and everyone is too bad at first time. Just like you can't hold back here. I'm a little sorry. I don't know, how does the caliber go? They should be reaching out to me. What would your expectations for? You mean the army? No, touch on her earlier. Yeah. I'm sorry. No, you're good. It was a hard process for me, my friend. I entered into the LA. He's really succumbed in this stuff. And, when we were on the streets, And I'm going to do quite a bit of the sample. I just didn't know where yet. And as soon as I entered the court, I was just going to eventually come to you all over

and I was serious so that's an image of how friends were probably. What did you think then? You put on that? Absolutely. You've been out with me? No, I believe on the selfless player. I would be anything that takes good the way in or I'd be first down in AER. Quite hard. I can get my nose dirty and this is a slow football. When the competition, I don't know how quickly it goes. I'm interested in you. I want to introduce you out of the world to you. Here's what you're role. But what happened is that part of the initial reshoot mission? Sorry. Did you put that? What did you put it to? It's just too much. What if it's interested in you? How are we like, why are we? How are we going to use that? So yeah. Is that part of the initial conversation that that way there on once you get there? Yes or no? Nothing is given to you. Like I worked for it. Yeah, you definitely come up with a funny time. So funnier and more fun to do.

Definitely bringing somebody like the country to all the area and your life job. It's an ace. It's my role as far as I'm here. And I hope I can look that out. I think, well, when you said you feel like you could play at this level, how long have you been taught that? When you think that come out of high school, you just have to buy your time really early. Absolutely. No, I know since high school that I had this thing to me, the recruiting process was really difficult for me. This is in there. We had time with COVID and stuff like that. And I was blessed to be learning from Ohio. And I was completely to work there. And I'm still sorry. I'm a higher for that team. And then, like I said, it was really a decision and a portal to try to make that next level where I probably couldn't. Look, I'm sure a lot of guys want through that. We're in the new year. The new year, COVID. Yeah. The F-T, I'm not getting the exposure. I should be getting it.

I know what's happening in the world. I'm just looking back against what was the way to go through that. And I think it's funny to you or how do I become a better player when I'm on the line? You got to where you want to get your ear. It's a different path. Yeah. No, either. It was really exciting. And a very stressful process. But like you said, this is the path I got here. And I don't feel like I got here. It's really just what to do here. And I was there. How would you say you made the most progress for your son at Ohio? You went there and it's better than you were. How much better before you are you now coming here? What areas do you think it was? Yeah. So my freshman year, I was red-sharing. And we had a really good time at that time. And I was on scout team. And that's where I was just every day of putting the work and a treat that I like my game. So I felt like that's where I got acclimated to the challenge level on my sophomore year

and this past two or three or four years, sophomore year. It's a little rare. I mean, in fact, I'm a few. And all of my coaches, you can leave the knee there. And I love all those coaches down there. Awesome people. Great program. And I think it's quite a lot of faith in you. And back in that, we were just trying to make plays. Was there over else besides Ohio State? Did you know that? I don't know. Did you really know that? Oh, there's a hand in fear. There's a couple of schools in the SECA. They're high schools. But I just had a high school, really, come by eye and I'm a coach. You know, you're a person of war. And even if you didn't want to leave. Did you do this anywhere else besides Ohio State? I did not. No. Well, it's a little good about you. Way to deal with that. Sorry. Just getting to the field, it's a good thing to feel like the pathway is certainly fuel-bound. Yeah, absolutely. Nothing's given to me. I work for every other day in the playing time.

But that's my whole point. I'm actually the thing. What's your strong, what's your role in the process? I do. Yeah. Hello, Ralph. Yeah, I love Blockins. I feel like that's one thing that I can separate myself. Really? From others. I can do anything. And I learned that I've been rocking here in the past. I'm a great, great business teacher. How do you put it? Awesome. Yeah, first week, I mean, obviously it was a tough year. I've been out of it by something bad. But I look at every settlement. And I've got to know a lot of the guys. And they're really good at the goal. How about the 40-4? Good? Yeah, they're easy. I just had one. I had a pretty solid one. So I'm feeling good. Yeah, I'm feeling good, though. Yeah. I feel good. Oh, yeah, no. I know. I feel comfortable. They have a little bit of past with me. I know. So I have a whole safe, big things about each other.

And it was really cool. I feel comfortable being in touch with them. Do you see this in the audience? Oh, I'm so happy. Oh, absolutely. They're making these kind of encounters. They're like, this is a big adventure. That's what I mean. I don't know if you have a walk, but I don't know if that's something you can do. You don't know how this goes to. Yeah. No, they're both young guys. And they're just a good person. I think they're not like coated in that. They treat them like they make it treat me like they're like a buddy. I think that's an area we really like out to kind of, you know, really into the idea of having a little bit of research. Is there a thing that you can do? There's just all of these things. What are the important things that you can do to make it work? No, I'd say it's super, super similar, especially locked and wide. Like, I'll try to do the same job done. I'm just working with my field of different things, but I think it's pretty similar. What do you think will be enough for people with name?

What do you think? Just how hard I go and just like how our college really needs to finish blocks. They're about to play in the pool. That's the goal. And I think it's about the training boards. And that's what I think. That's just awesome culture. The culture is super simple. Yeah. I think that's just really awesome. That was a little rough in the beginning. Just not knowing a bunch of people here, but I was a lot of the way. And I was really excited. I feel like you and me and the audience are all prominent in the environment. Yeah, I think everyone's different. We've got still side-by-side weaknesses. I've never looked at those side-by-side weaknesses. I'm really excited about those guys. I think it's really cool to come up with those weaknesses. How about just getting the flag into this thing? I think that's a great thing. Oh, it's just one of the best defensive and challenging things. I think that'll be awesome.

And that's just how I can use this. I think it's going to get some of the best to do that. It's around a lot of other roles. You know, we also have a lot of things to do. I feel like it's going to be a great thing. I think it's more like to learn a super-wide system. What is it like for you to have people play? No, I think Athens is an awesome place. No, I don't know. I mean, at the end of the day, I play ball injury. So I can't play best ball with basketball. But I love that. I think it's a good place to just follow the ground. And I know all the sides out there. I mean, it's close by. I'm sure I'll visit here in the near future. I'm just following the ball injury and turning it to the left. But when you tell, you know, Calvin, what he's doing is, I see that he's doing it. And that's a lot of things. And that is, you know, kind of understand the destiny of the space in here.

And it's that you have to rip the barters, how to maintain that. And probably, you know, you have to do it. You need to work like a man. You need to be able to do it. I'm sure you can also be able to play in some way. You know, I think you can do it. I think you can do it. Well, thank you. All those guys want to pass the ball to the players. Like there are very good people and really good coaches. And we're just going to understand what they're all going to say to you. I'm sure. Thank you. Thank you for that. I'm sure it's something that you can do about the state. Obviously, it's something that you can do. Right. Deep in there, it's really something that you can do for yourself. But how does it feel to be a good player? You can do it for yourself. Well, I haven't got the play that you might have got. So I'm still up for a huge test to be a good player. But just like the culture and the offers and stuff like that,

when you're just standing in the middle of the same goal, you're the first to pressure the ball. Awesome. Awesome guy, he's super friendly. He came out and reached out to us when we're throwing out skins and making sure we're in. He's always going to get the best of us. And making sure that our first stop is where it's going to be. I just want to give you a chance to walk into the water trail and get to the water trail. Yeah. So I was a late transfer for an old person, but I was a lot of stuff like that. I was pretty stressful when I entered the portal. A lot of the coaches were reached out. But I'm not going to stay just at the time. The coach and I just, they're success. I was seeing background in the coach and this really impressed me.

And I think this was, you know, that music. That's what I'm saying. The scene was so high on the left. It's a little traction. Yes. What kind of game? This is going to play popular. Well, it was honestly just opportunity-wise, Ohio is my only offer at high school. So it screwed up a lot of stuff. And I'm super grateful. I really did. I'm still getting used to it. Yeah, really the pixel group and the board,

you think that I'm going to miss the band. I'm going to run the... I'm not going to run off the field. This is kind of a huge mess. No, there's a few of them. I mean, yeah, one of the good fellow students, I was going to teach a lesson, because I was going to never get a lesson. I mean, but now there's some extra lesson when they speak about it. It's been a lot of fun. Oh, yeah. No, I've been on the other side of the work. I've been working on teams, I've been on teams. I've been on teams, so I'm just going to do this. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Hello. Certain aspects, like learning the program, learning how we work here, I kind of feel like a freshman. So I kind of have to get on task and figure out how things work here. And then once I earn the respect of my teammates, then I can continue on the leadership role. The right side is blocked. I'm going to use the left side. John, you actually talked about rooms. I've had conversations on the plan. I got to talk about how I can point you. I'm not really sure about that, because you know, I came here just as an offensive lineman. I didn't really come for a specific position. There's a lot of talent in the room, and I'm just going to try to fit in the best way I can. So you could see, I guess, an athlete in a list of parts of it. I'm not sure that's up for the coaches to decide, but I am here just to help the success of this program and whatever the coach is to see that. Have you had any thoughts on how are you getting all of these guys?

I really like Will. Will's a great guy, and he's had a coming experience, and he'll be really excited to play with him. What's better than your treat as an excuse or being in a certain position? Neither. I hated the recruiting process, kind of in both sense, you know, the transfer portal period is so short, I was home from the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, I think, and I was up here Thursday. And then I came up here on Saturday, so as an enrollees, so that was really quick. But yeah, I've never really been a fan of all the hype and the hurrah of the recruiting process. Hey, Seth, I think a lot of people in this day now, the portal, how do you go from being a true Alabama player to coming to a higher state and going, I'm a fuck-eye now. And not just you, but a lot of other players who are transferring and looking at the portal. I think I did manage of being there for four years. You know, I love Alabama, I have two degrees from Alabama.

That's always going to be my alma mater. And I so appreciative for everything that I've done there and everything that's been given to me there. But just as a, you know, we're playing the sport to be professionals. And I just thought for my benefit, the change would be good. But I am very thankful for everything I was received from Alabama, their fans. I love them. But it's just going to be a fun new adventure. Are you looking forward to playing in the shoot? Yeah. I think one of the craziest things is, you know, playing in all those SEC stadiums and growing up in the SEC, I really never, I was never really a huge big 10 football watcher. So kind of getting to experience this type of culture and see the love for the game up here. It's been fun. It's been colder. I did grow up in the South. So some of the really cold weather, I've never been used to. But I get hot easily. So I don't love the heat. How do you do that after you win the ball?

What is that from your ball and jump to that? And get to experience it as you work through that? You know, when you go through something like that, you kind of have to sit down and look at yourself and be like, okay, who am I as a person? What am I? And I kind of just sat down and thought about, you know, where can I go from here? I can't control what happened in the past. I can't control what happened in that game. I can't control, you know, the public reaction to that. But I'm here now. I'm in a great place to continue my development and play for an incredible program, play for incredible coaches. So really, I'm very positive. I have no negative feelings about what happened. You know, it is what it is type of thing. So it's exciting. Good for you. How do you feel about your life before the school? How do you feel about your life? How do you feel about your life? And is that what they remember about you and back? I've started, I forget how many games I've started. I've started over 20th Center. But I'm open to doing whatever it takes to, you know,

help this program on football games. Do you play a few things back then, do you play football games either high school or... I play tack on high school, but that's kind of like every single offense alignment that I always tack over their high school program. But I've practiced hard a little bit throughout my career at Alabama. But really, it's just... And interior offense aligns come out the same. Did you, after that Michigan game, did you check your social media off? I mean, you know, have you seen the world going on out there? No, not really. It doesn't really affect you. It's kind of the thing about social media. You know, I've heard that, you know, if somebody patch your back, you can't listen to them. If somebody, you know, is knocking you down, you can't listen to them. Because at the end of the day, nobody out there really knows exactly what goes into it unless they've been in the position. Hey, y'all, it's just over time for me to take a look at them. You just walked up to the U.M.A. and asked this, what do you think you guys playing at Alabama and stealing you?

It's maybe a little different from the average guy. What do y'all bring to this program in that regard? I think playing four years with Coach Saban is tremendous for your personal development. You know, having him talk to you each and every single day about what it takes to be a man, what it takes to be successful. I think it's a lot of people in the country regardless of profession would pay a lot of money to have that experience with Coach Saban, his leadership. Do you imagine that you're born in Florida and you're a student? What do you learn about taking a football, the tradition of the Middle East, the Middle East, the Middle East, the Middle East? It's a great, tough hard-knosed football from what I've gathered so far. It's been very fun to just talk to the guys and hear their experiences and talk to them about my experiences and just kind of look to see how it's different, how the goods are the bad, so. Did you think you think you could do football? I don't believe so, I'm not sure. I think that's the only thing that's not there

is just the quality of the football that you've found. There's a suggestion out there of the FNC if the only question is how you get to football. Would it fire you if you'd like to go and get together with them? I mean, good football teams are good football teams. They're built on toughness. They have the size, they have the talent. So, kind of when you get to those games, you don't really tell them, because all good football teams kind of resemble each other in some sort of way. And the experience is kind of not like you because you have for football and football here. What are the issues like how do they feel for the year? How do they feel for the year? What exposure sell you in the end? I think you have the experience of what you've done and you know kind of what works and what coaching styles you're more of that too. So, when you talk to the coaches that's really about how can you make me better? Not necessarily how can you develop me into the player that I need to be from where I was. I was like 6, 3, 260 pounds coming out of high school. So, that was really more about what can the weight staff do,

what can the Christian staff do to put the weight on me. But now it's kind of just about developing as a football player. I've got to do this here. Sometimes you're a bit worried, you're just like you're doing all of that. You're not going to have to discuss the full-length of the physical history of the same kind. What are the thoughts you were seeing with that? I think he's a very impressive guy. He's very intelligent, he's smart, he's played in a lot of games. He's a big 12 champion, he's won championship games. So, kind of going and playing with a quarterback that knows how to win games was a super big thing to make as my main goal is to win football games in my 10 years. What have you noticed in the club this year? What have you been around here the first over weeks you've been here? All these guys coming back were another shot. What's your good at you about the atmosphere? I guess about finishing the jobs. I think it's impressive. I think it's a testament to the culture here. In my two short weeks, I can tell how much guys love this program

and care about this program and care about their legacy. You had so many guys that could have been drafted this year that came back. I don't want to speak for them, but it sounds like it's because they think they have unfinished business and they want to win all the games and they want to leave the legacy. Did you find out how to do it? It didn't factor into my decision at all. It just wanted to come because really, whatever happens now, it doesn't matter if you don't make it to the NFL. I wanted to go to a place that could put me there. What's your reaction to the table? I was excited. Been watching Caleb for a year now at Alabama. He was very, very impressive. He walked in and he acted like a third-year starter. He was a veteran. It's very rare from a freshman. He's one of the most impressive freshmen I've ever seen through Alabama.

I didn't really get to watch a lot of him playing football. He was over on the other field, just with the quarterbacks. But from what I've heard from the other quarterbacks at Alabama, that I'm really good friends with is that he's a great guy. He's very talented. So we're excited to have him. When you said you and I have worked with him, you were kind of getting to have a smile and you made him and you didn't even need to go to a football. How did the tie-in came to you when you were on the field? Yeah, I came to college before and I was a thing. So it was literally not a topic. But it's a part of the world we live in today. And it's something to think about for some people. If that's what they're interested in. I'm really just excited to be here in Columbus and have the opportunity as a football presence. I think he brings a ton of experience. He's a great coach. He's had a proven track record of being a good coach. In our time at Alabama, he put up a lot of points.

So he'll be able to watch what he does with this often. What do you do like to play for? I think the most important thing is a player for coach football. I think the most important thing is a player for coach Brian is his pro background. He expects you to handle yourself like a pro. He expects you to prepare like a pro. And anything short of that, he's not a big fan of, which is understandable. Could you notice the insight to gave you about the game? I mean, you know, the rule of it, maybe you're around him. But he's been in the NFL. I mean, you know, he has that show up. I mean, honestly, not necessarily how it would expect you to be. It's from a game of landing at the back of the show. He knows who the guys are. And he's going to get the ball in their hands, you know, whatever it takes. So. I think it's the first place where they have a big league show. Why? What kind of league show do you have? They had a kid that couldn't snap the football. I was my first time walking out there. They were like, okay, mind as well try this guy at center. And the coach is most of an incredible if they could tell

that I was going to develop and do a college center. So I still keep in touch with my, you know, nine year old football coach and he kind of takes credit for, you know, putting me in that position in his foresight. So that's kind of funny. But when you got football at that point? Yeah, it was. It was. Kind of mean. Kind of just being the guy up in front, making the calls. I like doing that. I like the intellectual part of the game. I'm a student of the game. So it's a lot of fun learning and trying to, you know, kind of get everybody on the same page. That's what I like about it. I'm not so comfortable. I have to be able to follow the strength of your tricks of murdering the coach. It's mostly that straightaway, and I'm not sure how you see it as well. Now it's kind of just based on instinct. You know, I don't necessarily know the whole picture. But if I look in this sandbox over here, I kind of know what's everywhere else. So once you start learning the game, it kind of becomes more instinctual. Hey, I'm trying to. I'm sick of thorny right now. But you know, once we gain here,

and I went from the home, you know, there's some low snaps in that game, and he was able to hand them on the years they won't understand. The center somehow filled through a little bit of a rut in the shotgun and that, and the physical stand, the other just kind of have to get out of your tackle. Not really. Yeah, not really. I mean, kind of just part of playing the position. Yeah. You know, if you're a point-going basketball, and you're not hitting your free throws, you're not dealing with the team needs to do to win. The Creed Humphrey is one of the best centers in the game, and I can't, I can't talk about what was going on, but I mean, it didn't really impact the game. But you got a lot going on in front of it, but something that you generally before a snap is. I mean, concentrate on that snap before anything else. I mean, the snaps just part of your instinct. It's just getting the ball back there. You kind of don't really think about it. You kind of throw the ball back there, and without how many reps that you bank, you've got thousands of thousands of reps. Usually it's just going to go back there straight. That Alabama right here interacting wouldn't be stated. Maybe it's in the cases for a few years,

and then you want to take your officials into the field. What about Justin Bryan? I mean, if you talk about the stuff out, then they can say, like, I need to be here to help them try to win that. Just their plan and their excitement for winning. That Coach Day has been incredible to talk to you. I didn't, I wasn't recruited by Ohio State out of high school that much. So getting up here and seeing everything for the first time was a very telling experience. And Coach Fry sat me down and had a good plan for me, and that was exciting to hear as a football player. I know you were carrying the ball like you did in high school. How long you know me, and then you talked to them all the time. I talked to them a little bit. I just asked them about, you know, what he knew about Coach Day and Coach Fry, and he had nothing to positive things to say. Did you talk to Ohio State every week? Every look out of the Atlanta? You know what I mean? You're very interested in Ohio State more than maybe anyone else? Yeah, it was. And I was kind of attributed to my first, it being my first visit. Yeah.

They were very proactive about, you know, as soon as I entered the portal, they were one of the first people to call me. And they were very proactive to getting me here and getting me here first. And then just knew the process of how important that was to do our short time constraint. I know Andrew Houston went to your high school as well. You know him and what you were talking to him. He was a eighth grader, I believe, my senior year. Did he show his best with them? Yeah, he looked the same size he was now. I felt like as a senior in high school, because he's always been a huge guy. So I'm excited to see how he develops and how he brings the culture of Buford here. I have a plan for you to run for me. Hey, Belwein, what's the name of your nine-year-old team? What was your team here, you are? It's more of a composition. You know what I'm saying? Not any hits of the DB. I'm 230 going against someone who's 205. You know what I'm saying? I'm expecting to win. So I love the competition aspect of it. Yeah, Cody said you came in and said, well, he's already bigger than most of the line.

Are you playing Will and Sam? How was the position? I've been working on both, yes. Is there any fundamental difference between the two in terms of the same sense of the game? I mean, obviously the Samy more outside of my back are overhang. You can be walked up on the edge on the tight end. Will's more inside the box. I think the biggest difference from Sam and Will, Samy, you've got to be more outside sometimes during the slot with two. But I think it's similar concepts because you can do the same thing in the boundary. It's almost more like the Samfrogs of the field and Will's at the boundary. So I think it's pretty similar, honestly. The only difference is that Sam, last year, I never really was an interior run fitter like in the A gap, going A to B or whatever that might be. So that's a little different. But I mean, I think I got some of that experience at safety just from a few yards back. So like I said, the only difference really is now is suggesting the less time that's been. Yeah, Coach Melisid, you've come from where you're coming from. You have a better perspective of what's going on because you played safe.

Yeah, yeah. I feel like I have a great understanding of the defense. I think at safety, I kind of already knew what the linebacks were doing. So now what I'm really starting to learn is exactly like every little detail what the D line's doing. That's not really what I didn't know every little aspect of it. I think I'm starting to learn that now because obviously the lineback you've got to be knowing that more. So I think when it's all said, no, I think we have a really, really good understanding of defense and knowing exactly what everyone's doing. Do you feel like you're warm enough there more in the mix of the defense too? It's a lineback here. So it's not like you can drop in one minute, pass rush into your main. I think you can talk about that anyway. Yeah, actually, I think you can say it'll be an linebacker in the play. You're almost in every play. Yeah. Obviously the play can run away from you. But you know, safety sometimes you're just back there playing every guest. You take two back battles and it's a tackle. So I think yeah, a linebacker, you're in the play more. More chance, more opportunities to make tackles. Do you feel comfortable there? I mean, what does that, you know, obviously your dad will stand out like a recorder? Yeah, I feel super comfortable with it. Like I said, I think it's just going to be adjustment. You know, obviously it's different playing from a five than it was from playing from like 10 last year.

So I think it's an adjustment, but I'm super comfortable with it. So any of you top tier dad has given you any advice on the new position? Oh, yeah, we watch tape all the time. Watch practice. You know, he was a high level linebacker. And I'm just getting started with this. He gets a little shit with footwork and stuff like that. But it's good. I get good teaching him, you know, obviously coach Lord Knight is great player, great teacher for him, coach Moles. You know, he's a super smart football mind. So I'm getting great teaching all around. The linebacker, everything happens quicker for you. How much did the experience playing some of that Sam's got faster health with this? Um, I think it helped a little bit. It's been like in terms of physicality like being in the box down on the line. But I do think the the run fit as a will and a Sam can be a little different. In terms of like I said, like being into your fitter, like your 30 backer, you want to get pools, like you got to go spill it, so things like that. But I think I'm adjusting well.

I think I'm picking up on stuff pretty fast. You know, there's still going to be a lot of stuff to work on though. Do you feel more pressure talking to the media with your brother sitting right there? Not at all. What do you think has been the biggest change from linebacker safety blindbackers? Um, I think the biggest change would probably be that that 10 to 5. Because it's a big adjustment because everything's happening faster and you got to react faster. And like I said, the waist and movements, I think footwork is huge. I think you see the great linebackers. As soon as the play happens, they're going. They're not taking any waist steps or not fall stepping, things like that. So I think waist and waist movement and being able to see what's happening right from the fast. It's been the big spin fitter between the same team with your brother. Um, I mean, you know, you got someone out there that's, it's more than a team. You know, we call each other brothers, but you know, bloods, bloods a little thicker. So that's always pretty cool. It's always, it's never one on one. Yeah, but when he tells you something, he doesn't observe what you, you know, it's coming from.

Yeah, I think when you're blood like that, I think he's not scared of telling me the truth. You know, you know, obviously guys here, we have tough love. But I think it's always going to be a little different when it's your brother because he going to keep it 100% blunt exactly what you need to hear. Now what you want to hear what you're advice of playing Dickel. Oh, for him. I mean, he just so I've let it he got you just keep trusting his instincts. I think he's going to be great. I think what's huge for him is like I said, the athletic ability speed. You know, he bliss off the edge. He's, he's, he's been, he's been pushing super fast. And he's just great in coverage too. So I think something really good. I think we'll be able to do a lot of different things kind of like you see a handcock. Obviously, a little different body than a handcock, but I think he's going to be really good at once a step from that field. He's, he's, he's, he's just time. Thank you. Great. Yeah. How would you describe it? Yeah, so with Coach Lachlan, I mean, I've only been around him for a day, so I don't really know. But as you can see where he's coaching how he is as a person.

He's very high energy. He's very intense, you know, and I think he's very hands on. So I think it'll be awesome to be working with Coach Lachlan. What's your opinion of soft fast tricks? What's your opinion of soft fast cookies? I think you're going to have to hand it in the first meeting with you guys. No, not yet. I want to see you use the port as a city. You said you had a new event, you had a new event. How many interaction do you have? A lot. So we're from the same city. We have him from the same place. At Florida State, you know, he worked on that staff with Coach Johnson and they offered me out of high school. So the relationship was already there then and we just continued to build on from then. What is it? What is it? What is it? What is it? What is it? What is it? What is it? What is it? It meant a lot, you know, just the things that we talked about since I was younger in high school, you know, just didn't have that opportunity to go and play there. So it's awesome. What's the rest of the screen look like for you? What do you want to see yourself get there? Yeah, just to continue to improve all around, you know, continue to learn the offense and get involved in everywhere that I can on the field and just be able to improve my game all around.

I know we were only in here for Saturday. We haven't seen you guys practicing a lot, but it's all you come out of the backfield and catch your touchdown pass from Will. Are you pushing to continue to get better out of the backfield? Where do you feel like you are as far as learning the offense and being a basketball trophy back? Yeah, definitely. That's my goal to just continue to improve everywhere, but I think just overall is just helping the team anyway that the team needs to be helping just being a team player. That's my deal just trying to come in and, you know, help the team, whatever the team needs. How did you guys find out? Actually, I honestly don't remember how I found out, but I just remember like the process on what was where we're going to do moving forward. Ryan Dees talked a lot about the leadership Travian's brought to the running backroom to spring. What, how have you seen that? Yeah, definitely. Travian, as like I said, has improved. He's been a leader to the whole room, you know, by his actions and vocally as well, just, you know, continue to improve all around and inspire the young guys in a room.

I think he's done very good at that. Coach, Dave, what's your name? You know, T.C. Kathy's a guy that can contribute to you guys as well. What have you seen from him as a walk-on to be able to contribute to your room? Yeah, definitely. T.C. works very hard. He knows the offense. He's always in the playbook, always in the meetings, writing things down. Very head down guy. You know, he doesn't really talk that much, but he's very good. I agree. Oh, it's like so many questions. How was Coach Dave like his running back school? It's crazy you say that because he just told us he's like, well, guys, this probably my last week, which I'm out. But Coach Dave has been awesome. You know, he's taught us a lot of different things as far as scheme and different positions that he's coached overall and taught us a lot of different things that we learned overall. So it's been awesome. I know it's probably unsettling not to have a position coach for two weeks, but what does it know for me? You have like the head coach in that hands-on? Yeah, definitely admit the lot. You know, the half-course day in those meetings teaching us everything that he's put in and implementing it into our game and showing us how he specifically wants it. It was really good to have him there.

You even started in lightning, y'all. I was like a quarterback. Right. What do you remember taking away from that? Yeah, it's just really like not only looking at it from a running back perspective, but also as a quarterback as well looking at certain reads, certain blitzes from other players and just looking at it all around from the field. Can I use your second go? What's the list any rent through the game time? You're the fastest player in that game. Yeah, actually, I don't really remember, but thank you. I'm quick. You are for human that face of the game. Definitely really comfortable. Like I said, I've been improving to start this year, you know, coming here just improving my game all around. You mentioned last question. My last question was pretty quiet today. Is that disconcerting? Are you waiting for a like- I'm waiting. I mean, he's giving me a lot of feedback today on practice, you know, different plays, what he thinks, you know, what he's happy about. But I think the energy is going to come soon, so I'm excited. Did you get any more stops for your blitz pick up on the desk? The Jeremiah never was freaking out about it.

Oh, yeah, I did. How were you without party games? When blitz pick up? When blitz pick up, I can do that feeling. Yeah, pretty solid. I think, like I said, just improving my game all around, that's the goal. Continue to build every day and not be the same player that you wear yesterday. So that's really my goal, but I think I've been pretty solid at it for sure. All right, Quenchon, thank you. All right, thank you guys. Okay, thank you. No doubt about it. He's still a bit of a leader. Him and JT are real close, really, really close. But that front four guys have been here, Thai and Thai League, they're really close. And they're pushing the guys, and that's what you want to see. So I would say those four guys are our leaders in our room, and they're pushing on really, really well. And I see another Jason Thorne that makes you say that. I mean, he's 6'5, you know, 2'95' pounds. He's an ideal three-tech, thinkin' our system, right?

And just some matter, he'll have a confidence in playing. And sometimes you get his bigger than you think it is, and he kind of shut your back. And now in the spring, we're challenging. And I'm just telling you, he's every day is a good day for Jason Moore. And that's what we want to see. He came back to the same thing. There's a lot of guys doing well that we really like what's going on right now. But if a guy that's making a jump right now, let's say Jason Moore. They're urban, we used to talk about the first two years or on us, and their years on that. Except there's those ends that would come out and Kaden would get two third-year guys who know fall to their own. And you can see that, as you already said, they're kind of blocked. So how do you approach that as a coach? The guys who, when they were looking at this probably thought like three-year, a big opportunity was going to be here. And now it might not be quite the same shape of thing. Again, I think it's going by Thai Sierra Leone, right? And then KJ came back, and then the guys could all go to the port if they wanted to, because those guys came back, right? But they all want to be part of something special. And I think that's what separate us, who we are. And in fact, the KJ and Kaden Kari never wonder like what they want to do. They just want to play ball and come back and be best player possibly, and step to their roles.

And their role this year is different. It could be a very long season. So we're going to need those guys. And I think they're embraced at when they came back. So that's a good thing about it. The plan A might not have also been for both teams back to still be here in four years. So you're probably grateful that they are, but team time, are you looking at this? What else is left on the tables for them? We're working people. Well, I think the biggest thing they're doing at Chase and greatness right now. And I mean, being the best player, it can be in a college football. I think that's what they want. When I asked the championship, you know, I'll be to team up North. Those are all great goals for those guys at Chase. I think that's the one the reason they came back. You know what I mean? You go up third, you're a player, go in and out. You might think you're ready. But when you got four years on your belt, you got your two box ready to go. You got a chance to elevate your game when you're walking in that next level. And I think that's where those guys looked at. How can I get better coach? And every day we're working on the small pieces to make them elite players. And I think that's what we're doing right now. And you can see the difference in the guys. And that's the positive what's happening right now. What is your challenge, kid?

What is your challenge, kid? You have a challenge specifically about this free. You can prove where we want it. Just being consistent, it's all about being consistent. You know, he's tough, he has all the skillsets, he can bend, he can run, he can tackle, he's physical, he has all that. Now can you be consistent in doing what you're supposed to do? And so far he's done a good job at that. And you can see him coming out of his shell a little bit, kind of trying to be a leader. And I'll light by ways going on. So it's getting carried. I mean, those guys are right where they need to be. And I'm just happy that we got some normal days of practice to get ready. Yeah. What's the next step? My shoulders. Next up, you know, obviously, it's the play to best gaming and play every game. That's the kid going into it, right? You're trying to be a lead player. You know what I mean, Tal has got to give it, but to be a lead, you got to choose that. And every day he day, we talked about that, you got to choose greatness. Because there's no fault on the way from this. And I mean, so just a little things. Just fixing all the little things. Larry, you've been asked about Edrick in his recruitment. Now he's on the field. What have you seen from him through a few practices that make you think that, you know,

not to put the expectations on him, but he's almost asking me next time. Yeah, I hope so. You have a good time to go. It's a growth process. I mean, those young guys come in. It's like he should be in a classroom. You're going to go to a problem now. You know what I mean? He's here. And so he's got to go through a growing stage, you know what I mean? How to play hard. Playing hard in a high school. Playing hard in college. Two different level. I mean, it's full speed to Ed. I mean, so he's going to learn how to do that. He's got the skill set. I mean, he's got the physical skill. Now he's just learned a game that played a high level as fast as he can. Do you make sure to shepherd him to JT and Jack? Okay. Make sure to pay attention to these things. Well, we don't have to shepherd very close. They already stand next to him talking to him. That's a good thing, but I grew. They coached a young guy's really well. Really well. Where? With the tightly-knit tie being able to play Irish con. Who that is your third guy? Because he could be in anywhere. Well, you hope that Kay Mack can give us something. You know, come and I think he's having a good camp. And Jason Moore, we got hero Knows done really well. And he got Taiwan. And in their ending, we got a battle between who's going to be the best. And we're going to be the next peace guy, where we'll smith. Or it could be a little freshman.

So we don't know yet. But I like the four-by-yard right and the system we're moving forward. I think it gives him some options. Where's the hero in Caden taking the biggest steps? It's me. Where have hero in Caden taking the biggest steps? Well, just playing a game, more knowledge of the game, how to play a great football IQ and just continue to work on our techniques. And that's never going to stop. But I think that's what's happening right now. Is there something Caden can give you with the one-side sort of being that, you know, space here, maybe the explosive first step that, you know, there that spot? Yeah, yeah. He's a nose guard. And he's powerful. We like to see him continue to bring his weight down. But he's a big man. He's very strong. And he can handle it. The center really well. And he gives the idea of a nose guard. That's what we're looking for. Where is the guy? A explosive guy, a big guy in the middle. Just kind of managing for us. Now that Taiwan is in your area, where is he at? I think I said earlier that I think now that Drowf is there. You know, baseball is behind him now. He went through a learning curve last year. I thought just trying to play football again. Now you see how to make some steps. And I think going into the fall, it will be able to help us in the fall. What was that learning curve like when it's playing baseball and dedicating time? Well, it's technique, right?

You're just on a football, you know, eyes, eye discipline, how to get off the ball, how to get off blocks. All those things take time to learn how to do. If you haven't done it before, right? You know what I mean? It's like, difference swinging a bat and hitting the guy in the mouth, you know what I mean? And so that's the difference. And you got to learn how to do that. Yeah. Did you see something change last year that you've gone up to? Raps basically. Yeah, for early on, it was a struggle for him because it was all new to him. You know, even though he played football, but he hadn't played football over two years, three years. It was all baseball. And so just basically learning the game, understanding boxing scheme and seeing all. It took time to do that. And then you saw it in the season, started to do a good job and started to understand it. Now with spring football on his belt and last season, you can see the difference in him right already. That he started to learn how to play the game. No doubt. What's the next step? What can you see? What can you see? Continue to do what he's doing. He's working real hard right now.

You know, he's working real hard. He's the lack of what I thought he was going to be coming back in the season where we're big. You know, there's still more. You know, he's running to the ball full speed every play. He wants to be great. And when you have that in your mind, you know, everything's a challenge. I've been acting for you for a long time. And having a good point of this especially after here. How much do you say that Mr. Chair, Mr. Much? The pressure on yourself in the acts of my business is either right or wrong. I tell you what we do. I've challenged myself every year as a coach. How can I be better? You know, how you do better? You go back and watch what you did as a coach. I watch every single play all over again to an off season. And then I find things I think I could do better as a coach. That's my job. Right? And then I take those things and we work to crap. I'm very fortunate to have to do a real estate and great coach. Coach Clark is a great young coach who's coming next to me. And we bar a BT. And now we have all these eyes in the room of all my guys. And I think that's make us better. And so that's what I'm looking forward to. We meet every day about every single guy, every technique, and finding ways to make them better every day.

And so I think that's the key for me going forward. Just make sure we do that. We don't talk about, go ahead. What's it like having your coach on the side? You're a stomping side. You're a stomping side. You know, you know, you know, you know, you know, doing this from 29, 28 years. You know, you never had an opportunity to do it. You watch and play. You was a kid. You had Penn State. But it's pretty cool. It really has been honest with you. He wants to be in this. Wanted to be in a long time again. I kind of talked him out of it, you know, because of the coach and thing. But then finally he said, Dad, this is what I want to do. And so, you know, thanks to Ryan. We had an opportunity to put him on the staff. And he's doing really well. He's doing really well. He loves football. And his part is changed. So to be able to chase your dreams real smart. And you're really cool about it. You'll see him do it. We got more questions. We don't talk about tie as much as we talk about tie league and Jack and Jay. Do you think there's a, we get reason why he's a little underrated? I don't, I don't see much other rate. Tie is a hammer. Tie is a physical player inside. If you watch his play from last year, there's time where he was just, we called it Bobbledon. He just taken it center and just shaking his head. Very strong, very physical. And the thing that we did well last year, we tackled well on the inside.

And that was Tully can tie to the really great job. Mike really did a good job. He managed in the middle of the other defense and tied to me. He said, it's a sleeping giant. It really is because he makes us go. He makes go. He's smart. He's a leader. And he knows exactly what he wants to do. And I love that about time. Yeah. We've asked about, we've asked about a lot of different guys. How do you balance town? Do you have a top-end? So definitely have a mind that you're trying to figure out a rotation. Also know that it's going to play on the top-end of the game. Yeah, no doubt. And that's what we're talking about. You know, a chance to play 17 games. We've never done that before. And so early on the season, we may play a lot more young players in a situation to make sure we get to the stretch. Right? And I think our older players now understand what we're up against. And the thing I will say to you that we don't have jealous season in Rome. We don't have that. We have a bunch of guys that want to win. And if you can help us win, I want you to help us win. That's the attitude in Rome. And so they understand that we have to go into the season. We'll have to rotate and we have to do our own in the season to get a chance and get to the back end of the season.

We're going to do what we want to do. Not rotating last year. Was that more about the top end of the room and how good those guys were? Or maybe some more show guys like you got a cake and not a best there at the game ready for those. Oh, no doubt about it. Yeah, you know, quite ready last year to throw those guys in and say go battle. You know, man, you got to be smart. You know, I mean, you don't want to get them to put them in a situation where they have a handicap. Handicap being like they fail. Now, everybody down. You could carry that. And I'm really good about not putting freshmen in a position where they have a chance to fail. I want to be successful. Now those guys have so doubt that have the experience. Now let's go play. And that's what we're going to try to do with the season. What do you think about asking even college where we're going to get to the next question? Who's asking? What do you think about asking your college roster to tolerate the 17 games in the schedule? I, I, I, has, has ever been done before. And so it's going to be tough. What's the point out? Ask that question at the end of the season. And I mean, right now we don't know. We just, we just know as a lot could be a long season. You know, Larry, do you have a good idea to, to cross-frame JT jacket out of that line? I think it's great. I mean, we, we do a little bit at now and I, and I drop eight.

It's defense. We do a little bit at now. So it's not a big deal. You know, you're going to rush through a drop and they do that right now. And just a matter of change in the front on the inside. I mean, that's all. We haven't gotten there yet, but I know Coach Noah is interesting trying to spear around that a little bit. Is that a response to try to find something to match up against an offensive line? What's all the things that you have over the six separate guys? Yeah, like 12, 12, 12 personnel, 13 personnel, 14 personnel. Now you've got to chance to match up, play bigger guys on the field. You know, I mean, you might play three, three, three tackles on the field. And then two big ends. So just a way to kind of offset that a little bit. Yeah. But we're not there yet. We haven't put it in yet, but it's a thought process. The experience you have is a lot of these guys. You could start for some moments and get your experience. Is there any situation you're coaching for? You've had that much experience on the line? Only once when we had the Sam Hubbard, Jalen Homes, DeBosa, Chase, that group. That group was really, really a veteran group. Now we did a lot with those guys. That's what the Rushman Package came because we had to get those guys on the field. But these guys are, you know, I like to, I like the guys are back.

But I like the young guys who started to go, because they can see what it takes to be great, right? And so there's a great examples of those guys. Just imagine those guys who love, there'll be a lot of young players trying to learn from young players. And so we have a bonus right now that these guys are all back. Is there any more depth now? That's where I have more depth now, is that correct? Yeah. Question of the Rushman Package, I think, last year there was a time when Jay T. He linked inside and time with Jack and Jack and inside. What do you like about those two guys inside in the Rushman Package situation? How much of that is just, we want the experience guys to look inside. Yeah, he really is just a match-up. I look for a match-up, right? There's a guard that we think we've got a great match-up for a Rushman. You know, we want to take advantage of that. And so we have to look and see how we go through the season. How much we can use the Rushman Package or we know we have a pass rush. And just how we're going to use it, put the piece together. And we'll figure it out as we can go on. Yeah. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Thank you, Larry. Yep. Thanks, guys. Thanks, Larry. Thanks. I had six. We grew up in the same park. We played in the same park, so we're a real close family friend. We're family friend. How many people do you have?

I'm two years older than I am. Did you have a discussion with him before you came to the Rushman Package? Yeah, I had a discussion with him. I was close to him. You were pinching him. You know, Candle, he's so smart. You came for Sweden. So, like, I wasn't even talking about recruiting. It was just, you know, just keeping that connection, just keeping going and talking. Because I knew at the end day he was going to make the right decision. So, yeah. How much do you think you're going to make right now? He's a huge difference maker. He's always, have his lights on him since he was a little kid. So, like, this is nothing to do with him right now. So, in fall, Candle, you're going to start everyone, right? He's really, like, he's really like that. And make a name for himself again. And if you were pinning the sungmования, you were going to start a call, and actually point them in a way that you were wanting to start a game. So, you're going to have something on yourwieungen that you'reinder, because you have some of the freedom we had. Now, at the end of September, I have people just in prospect.

You can um one or two in a row. Yeah, you know, who would you play? At the end of the year, right, right now, I watch eight songs. I'm just a brotherhood, you know, everyone was coming back and saw me and what I looked like just going and leaving. But I just want to leave out of here in a nice, pretty heavy ship and we just left so much behind. I feel like our class came in, one of the best class that ever come through Ohio State and we needed to leave out of here with something. So that's why I came back. What did you know that you were going to come back? I kind of knew just after the board game, I was going to come back because you've seen everyone and kind of before the board game, we all had a discussion and we just want to come back and finish with our anger or national championship. What's their kind of feeling like? We've done a lot. That's all individual decisions, but it's also a group decision.

Yeah, it was a group decision. You know, we had an individual decision, but we had to leave out of here with something, you know, so I feel like this year we finally put it all together. It was both. We had a conversation. He had a conversation. He was in a conversation. I remember where I was. He's had a conversation. During last year, we were talking to professionals about basically kind of feeling stunning. It was maybe early in the year, maybe half a year. He was still almost kind of into meeting. I like, well, if you're talking about it, it's sort of a different scene. Maybe that's not a group. That's exposing you in a way that you want to. But then having to just play that full time down in the second half of that last year, what did that do for you? Did you think it would be a major event before coming out of this year? Yeah, definitely made me a better knickle, just learning from sunny, put me on with a lot of game and stuff like that. I've really had to flip my mindset from just playing corner and then just playing knickle, but now I just want to be the best knickle in the country.

So that's kind of my mindset right now. What is the biggest difference between you and your play one of those new decisions? A lot of runfits, you got to be in the runfits. You're guarding quicker receivers in that slot, so that's kind of the whole. It's two different techniques from outside and inside. I've been really working on it. If you see last year, I got a lot more comfortable in the slot when I was kind of like the main slot, when I kind of focused on it. It's just my game, elevator from there. I just keep on elevating and I'm just excited for this. What's the specific work you've been doing there to get there? Oh, just catch technique, just not giving as much ground and the line is grimacing and stuff like that. What's your vantage point? What's it been like to see Sonny and Second Loves? Oh, yeah, he's a dog out there. You can see there's a huge transformation with him. We can go out there and play die. This is just so much versatility. I'm just happy to be able to change.

I know Lorenzo's been playing some knickle a few. What kind of growth have you seen from him? He's going a lot. He's always in the film room. He's always going to go hard. He's going to be a great ball player down the road. What do you have to do with him? You're a very skilled corner now. You're in this situation where you're talking about what fits. That's just part of what you have to do now. What you're going to play in there is that something you have to get used to or how did you get ready? I've never really had to get used to most people corner. They can't go play inside. I just like hitting. It's just something about it. It's just a natural transition. It is pretty crazy, right? When you're playing in there, you have to be physical enough to play the run. But then you have to be quick enough to play all these little quick slot receivers. It's crazy. That's why I feel like it's the most fun position on the field. I'm going to add a gain a little bit more weight in this offseason to bring more power into it. I have to take office of guards and tighten in every time. I have to gain some weight.

I feel like I've gotten a lot stronger. The gain that weight and keep your foot down is just like constantly trying to strike that balance. They serve mixing you in the last summer training camps before that. What did it feel like during the Holy Embrace? I love this position. I want to make it. I played a lot of... I was going like... I was playing reps and all that. But then, Nathan, he got injured. That move suddenly hit a strong safety. I had no choice. I'm just really happy to play that position. I'm thankful for it. You've worked a lot with that. I had a lot of production that week. It was like a night game. I wanted to make plays out there. Jim said that you really stepped up at that point during the season once Nathan went down. You say that week was when you really had to embrace it fully. How much did that game spearhead the rest of the season for you?

Give me that confidence that you can handle all that. It was crazy. I think that whole October, just from October to November. I'm here. I had a really crazy stretch. Almost every game in October. I had an interception. I just kind of dropped one and gave it a Michigan State. But I feel like every game in October, November, that's when I was in the position. How much does a guy like wall help prepare you for that kind of switch in the middle? If I didn't have Coast Wall, I don't know if I could make that position switch. There's just so much cerebral things you have to know at the position. So, Coast Wall, he got an NFO background. He knows every single unit, D-line. So I had a North LaDeline linebackers. Sometimes I do the same thing, but Steel Chamber is going to last in the same position. If I didn't have Coast Wall, I don't know how long. That takes a lot of behind the scenes work that sometimes I assume you're like, I don't even know this because I'm not playing.

How much work does behind the scenes because wall watching film? Talk about stuff. Yeah, people don't see it. We're in here at 6.30. Coast Wall, he comes to the building like 5 am. So I went in here at like 6.30, watch film with him. After practice, meet and watch film and just walk through. You know, it wasn't easy at first, but he got on me. He stayed on me a lot. He was just kind of accountable and I'm thinking for that. Yeah, it's going to be good. He's a really good football player. He can hit, he can cover, so it's going to be good having him back. You're standing in line. One thing good. You're standing in line. You're standing in line. How much do you think? How much do you think? Yeah, he's going to be a good fit for us. You know, he played a lot of ball and started getting his ass off of me. Oh, it was great. Good to have him back when I was having him back.

The best team, last five years, 20-19 in the last year. And common thread team, he had a slot corner. Slash, say, do you like to yourself? Sean Wade, 20-19, you kind of brought things together. Who's next? I think Miles, he's under-sized, but I feel like he just brings it. He's got the mentality to play. And he really likes to love the game. He really studies hard. And I feel like he's going to be up next for the Knuckles plot. What have you seen out of Aaron's Got? How do you crisis in doing a lot of understanding? What have you seen out of Aaron in these first couple weeks that they've been here? He's competing real hard. He's running to the ball. He's learning, he's getting better every single time he's getting better. So that's what I've seen. Think about the difference in just top to bottom talent. And that room in the last one, when you got here tonight, how much is it?

It's crazy, you know, coming in, I don't even know how to explain it. But our room is so talented right now. Like, anybody can go out there, even our two's and three's can go out there anywhere else in the country. From top down is super talented. We got young dudes like Aaron, Miles and Bryce. So they're going to go out there and ball in a couple of years. And I'm excited for the future and potential. Those guys give you any crap about you and Densau Drone Back. They're going to keep it about three of them. They're talking about it a little bit, but not for real. They just want to really want to learn from us. They're super smart kids and they're just real eager to learn. And that's like how much ownership as a bettering guy, you feel as to what this defense will look like next year after you're gone. And those second and third string guys are now the top of the deck. Yeah, it's going to be wild because right now they're going to be ready. Because Walt says on of me, Densau, we stay on them.

Dave stays on them. So they have no choice but to carry on the tradition. I feel like they're going to do it real with Miles and Bryce out here. Yeah, it turns into person. Hey, Jordan, is it too early to assess the, for you to assess the spot receivers? For you to assess the Ohio State spot receivers that you're going against? Oh, I played them last year. I won them against some last year. They're all good. Bryson, Brandon and Keon plays a little bit in the slot. And yeah, they're going to be real good. They're going to be, I mean, Meg too. Of course, of course, Matt. We know what Meg does. So one of the best slots in the country. It's going to be fine. Even when Meg leaves, there's going to be no drop off. Great. Thank you. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Have a safe break. Thank you. Thank you. You got it. I don't know what to talk about that. Just here, having meeting or something. Pick up your seat. Figure it out. Everybody seems to have a good, good, good, good.

I'm just going to give you a piece of my love. This is how much I've put through my body. I'm going to give you a little bit of a good, good, good, good. I'm just going to give you a little bit of a good, good, good. That's another piece of my final match. Yeah, well, I mean, first off, I think I'd be doing a disservice to my teammates. You know, me even think about what's next. Because you know, what's right in front of us is an over-eat. And that's another thing I got to tell me. I know that I'm not looking too far ahead. Because I'm tripping on what's right in front of me. So, again, that's too so for sure. I'm thinking to meet you and be thinking about what's next. You're at least aware that there's a lot of speculation out there that people are going to throw a huge number and a huge number and a huge number going to the board hall. I mean, right now I'm just not worried about all that stuff. I mean, people can say all they want to say. But, you know, I'm just focused on. Focus on Friday.

When you're not a fan. Nervous? I mean, I still get nervous for sure, but I just don't think. I think I do have a good picture of just understanding that. At that moment, whatever moment it is that I'm nervous about, it doesn't define who I am as a person. And it doesn't define who I am and God's eyes. And understanding and knowing that has just kind of put this force field of peace around me. I think it allows me to be able to be calm in certain situations. But it doesn't, that's not good. It's not good. I mean, I just love the game so much. And if you don't get nervous or a little bit of a burden, but I don't think you have that same love. I mean, I've got butterflies since, you know, going into football games since I was, you know, five, six years old. So I don't know what that feels. I didn't know. I just, you know, football just doesn't mean as much as it did to me back then.

I want it to always be that much easier. Not even where you are. That is here. I've been told, but I think so. I'm going to have to go to the last day. It's going to be a hard day. I want to knock on wood, barring any freak accidents. So I just, you know, I want to be here. I want to be a part of this team. And, you know, when you, when you want to, and you have passion to add value, that makes it a little easier to get up and do the workouts in the off season. You know, whether you're 22 or going to be 31. So yeah, I mean, it's definitely special. They haven't always had this reputation ever award in the players. You see this off season, same brown, golf, you know, pene, not yourself. What does it say about the organization that, you know, you feel like it's changing the reputation a little bit, we're awarding the guys like this. Well, first and foremost, those three guys absolutely deserving of every penny they got.

Incredible. And, you know, me being in the room with pene every single day, like I was, you know, ecstatic for him. And of course, the other guys, but pene is my line, he's my guy. I think it speaks to a good culture that's been built. And it's not built on sand. It's genuine, it's real. You bring certain guys in because of what they can add, not just as players, but as people. And like I said, it's a genuine thing that the staff is looking for. And it's not, oh, we're just going to bring this guy in and then get rid of him and try to find something cheaper. I just think it speaks to the culture. We find guys that fit, we find guys that represent what we're about. Not only are they phenomenal players, but they represent us. They represent the city. And to be able to keep a core group of guys around,

I feel like more and more in the NFL, you guys coming in and out. And it's hard to develop some cohesiveness. And especially us on the offensive line, we got to play together for a long time now. And that's valuable. I mean, that's big time. And then you think even the quarterback position, where his drops are, how he moves in the pocket, things like that. And then Jared and his familiarity with St. I think it speaks to they want to win. We want to win. This is what we're here to do. We're here to win, so we're going to keep our guys that can help us win. Yeah. Talk to you last week. Express your desire to stay, but it didn't sound like anything was imminent. Can you just take us through how this came together from your perspective? So I've been going back and forth a little bit for probably about a year and a half now with the organization because I knew like I want to be here. There was no questions for me.

Like, this is the place I want to be. I want to stay here. And then there's just a lot of moving parts. I'm not the only person in this organization. I'm not the only guy that wants a contract extension. And then I think coming off two surgeries, I think they probably wanted to see how I was moving around a little bit. And then in OTAs, I actually went up and I had a conversation with them. I was like, where are we at? I hear things from my agent. And from our salary-cap people and they're talking and I'm getting kind of second-hand information. I want to hear it. Like, tell me where we're at. Just so I know. I just want the information so it's communicated well. And pretty much what he told me was to achieve what happened. And I just basically had to stay patient. And for me, it was never going to be holdout of training camp. If it comes to the season, we're not going to play games. That's just not me. I'm going to show up and I'm going to play. Because that's what I do and that's what I'm here to do.

So I think it was pretty seamless. I just talked to Charlie and Disneyer upstairs. They said it was super smooth. I think it happened in a day, which was pretty much all my second one happened. And my third one happened as well pretty quickly. So I think there's value in just showing up and going to work. And I think the team knows that I'm not going to change just because I'm not getting what I want when I want it. And then ultimately we both got what we wanted. So for me, I got the information that I wanted from Dan. And when we communicated, man to man, it was very amicable. And since that conversation, I felt like it was promising that it would happen. I didn't know when. Exactly. I had a ballpark idea. And then it all worked out. I showed up to camp. I went and played. And the agents and the salary kept people do their thing. And now moving forward, I can just focus on playing football.

Going through camp day to day. I don't have to have any of that hanging over my head. It's pretty good feeling. Taylor, all I can do is make a very famous job. It's not here. What does it mean to play for a team that values that side of the game? And when did you first sense that from Brad and Dan? You know, there's a couple times every single camp where Dan will come into the offensive line room. And he'll say, I need to see it today. And I've never had a head coach come in our room and say something like that. And he would pop in every now and then just say, like, today, I need to see it from you guys. Not that we're not out there working hard every single day, but he's like, my eyes are on you guys today. And it seems like a lot of those times, they're kind of some ballbuster practices

that are going to be kind of a grinded out. And that's what offensive line is. And I think you see it with the way they draft. They draft guys in the trenches. And even Dayton back to before they were hired, this organized it. I was drafted. Graham was drafted. Joe was always drafted in my class. Frank was draft, like, we were drafting lineman. We were trying to build this team the right way. And we had some pieces and then Brad and Dan just continued to build on that. And I think it's paying dividends. And I can't speak enough to, you know, going back to the culture fit of the quality of people that they bring in. And how when you get along, I don't know, just people's play flourishes even more. And that's another big reason. Like, this is where I wanted to be. Like, I had pretty much no interest in going to any other team. I wanted to be here. And a big factor of that is the guys that I get to play with. And I want to continue to play with them because they're important to me.

And I think, you know, the offensive and defensive line based on how the drafts have gone. And based on the quality of player that they've brought in. I mean, you can see that it's a. It's definitely of importance to the organization. Kind of along the same lines. Given where the roster is. Given the success of the team's head recently. Is there something extra validating about getting your first contract extension under this specific regime? Yeah. 100%. Not that I didn't think that they wanted me here because if they didn't want me here, I wouldn't be here. But I had gotten my second contract from a, you know, a previous regime basically. It's not like I never felt like I was like one in here, but it's just like that little extra. Hey, we want you here and we want you to continue to add value. Because we were a young team and I'm not getting any younger. But I still think I can play and I think I can play for as long as I want.

And that's kind of kept me young and I feel like that's kept me motivated to kind of have that edge. But yeah, I mean, it's just that little extra where just kind of reconfirm. So I mean, when Dan was hired, he called me that same day. So it's not an instance of, oh, I'm not one at here. They just kind of doubled down with this contract. We love you. We respect you. We want you here. We think you can play. We think you can continue to add value. And let's get this thing going. Thank you guys. Thanks, guys. Thank you. Yeah, absolutely. It's an absolute dime to carnal tape, but stand out throw of a day. And I think with Lincoln having another year of experience, it just felt to me like Lincoln was in a little bit more control out there. It felt like he had a little bit more command of what he was doing out there. Where's it felt to me like Julian was just a little bit off today. Yeah, our command is a good way to put it. And that can be a third of carnal. Beautiful go ball up the sideline.

It ends up being a 45-yard touchdown. Carnal had half a step, a step on his defender. It was why were it needed to be. But it wasn't the only impressive throw. I think Lincoln had a really nice throw over the middle on a slant route to fill up the freshman. He had a few other nice ones mixed in there. It wasn't a perfect day for Lincoln. He also under threw a couple balls that I saw. But on the whole, I think it's definitely fair to say he was the most impressive of the quarterbacks today. And I would actually even put Tavy and St. Clair second in that grouping. Tavy and had some really nice flashes, especially early in the practice. Didn't have that consistency as the practice went on. There's clearly a freshman still learning. But Julian missed on some throws today for what interception. I think there's clear strides that he needs to take to claim the starting job ultimately for Ohio State. And look, I think if anything else at Lens Creedens too, at least at this point in the offseason, this is a real competition between Julian and Lincoln. I think if this is what's been consistently shown behind the scenes, obviously this is just one practice we get to watch.

But if this is what's consistently shown behind the scenes, I think Lincoln has a real shot to ultimately win the job this fall. And of course, we'll have another big opportunity to watch the quarterbacks and all these guys next week at the spring game. And I think it'll be really telling, at least for us, do we see Julian make some of those strides next week? He struggled in the spring game last year. Will he have a better showing in the spring game this year? I think that would go a long way for him. Certainly for Lincoln to kind of keep building some momentum as he tries to, keep himself up the forefront of that competition. And yeah, like you said, you know, KVN was only with the third team today. And so, you know, it's pretty clear, but right now it's a Lincoln versus Julian battle in terms of who they're evaluating to be that starting quarterback. But I mean, I think one of the plays of the day, early into practice, KVN, he spins away from a Russia, throws a beautiful ball down the field to David Adolf. There were a few times today where you could really see KVN's athleticism on display, his ability to evade Russia's and extend plays. And I think that's one of the things that gives him a lot of potential. So, you know, I think Tatyana would still have to come a long way to have a chance

to be the starting quarterback this year. But I think you can certainly see those flashes of his potential to be a star quarterback for Ohio State in the future. Going away from a quarterbacks, you know, there were several guys that stood out to me today. I think one of the biggest ones was Quincy Porter. And it sounded like after practice he lost his black stripe, which would make him the first of this year's freshman to lose his black stripe, which is certainly a notable achievement. And he was a guy, you know, you heard, you know, Austin Edwards on the PA calling his name all day. He made a lot of plays. One of them a really nice diving catch on a throw from Lincoln Keenholes. And he looks like a guy, you know, we don't have the same expectations for Quincy Porter, but we did for Jeremiah Smith a year ago as a freshman. But there's been positive things said about him all spring. And looking at what he did out here today, he looks like a guy you has the potential to help Ohio State as a freshman. Yeah. And when Jeremiah was coming in last year, I talked a lot about the polish that he had coming from Florida and playing in that league. I mean, coming out of New Jersey, I think there's Quincy Porter has some of that,

even in the Catholic league that he played in was really difficult. He, I think, is impressive with his size and the refinement of his game, the way he uses his size to make catches. Like he was walling off defenders on a couple of catches. We saw that diving one you mentioned, the way he's able to weaponize his length and have that big catch radius, I think, because it's one thing to be tall. It's another thing to actually be a good tall receiver, you know, like a Marvin Harris in junior was like a Jeremiah Smith is. I think Quincy Porter has that potential and he's really flashed it today. As the starters go receiver wise, I think Brandon Innis had a fantastic outing today. Had a really nice post-rial. I think Lincoln's probably second best, but we named it. Besides the go ball to Carnell, he hit Brandon Innis on a really nice post-rout down the field. Brandon had made a big gain on that play. There were other ways they were getting him involved in the offense coming across the field with some underneath throws. Things of that nature, Phil Bell also really stood out to me as far as another freshman goes. Not as much as Quincy, but they were mixing him in with the twos and the threes,

getting him some, some of those reps and getting him some looks, a lot of underneath passes to him. For me though, I think out of everyone, the biggest standout might have been Bo Jackson today. There was a run that Bo Jackson had where the first play is after we got out here on the field. Bo, Bo, two or three tackles, running up the middle on a play and picked up about 11 yards. Carson Hensman's walking past me and he says, Bo, like that for real. That's like, yes, watching him today, there was a shotgun toss. They did him coming on the outside. He picked up about 24 yards on it and just outrunning the defenders. You can see the burst. You can see the willpower. You can see how he always keeps his legs turning to me. Bo Jackson was a really impressive standout today. And maybe a guy that could challenge for some carries come fall. Yeah, we've talked a lot about James Peoples and CJ Donaldson. Both of them have looked really good this spring, but yeah, the way Bo was running today, I think he's a guy to watch too. And he make that a for remand running back rotation rather than just a two man running back rotation.

If he keeps practicing like he did today, I think he's got a chance. We flip it over to the other side of a ball. I think probably the biggest standout on defense to me was Peyton Pierce. Another guy we've been hearing a lot of good things about all spring long. James Lauren Knight is really talking him out. He was getting a lot of first team reps up there today. You know, sunny style is one of the veterans who's getting some limited reps coming off a plan a ton last year. And so Peyton Pierce was out there a lot with the ones. And he made multiple pass breakups. You know, you can see why James Lauren Knight is keeping talking him up as a guy who is going to be one of those top free linebackers this year. And he's going to play a lot of football for the buck guys this season. Yeah, I was thinking with the defense to me too. And that front group, Kate McDonald was really good today. I had one of his classic goal-wide stuff. We saw him make a few of those even during the highest-dates national championship run. Last year, that was kind of his way to get involved in the defense last season in those goal-wide short yardage packages. But he pressured a throw. I believe it was from Julie and Saiyan. He looped around and didn't hit him basically forced in the completion.

Or not hit him because I don't think the quarterbacks were live at that point. But he pressured him, forced it in completion. Had a PPU that he batted down. Was constantly getting in the backfield of making chaos. Also defensively, I thought Aaron Scott had a really good day in coverage. He was paired up against Jeremiah Smith a lot of the time. He had a PPU working against Jeremiah. There were a couple of other plays where Jeremiah may have made the catch, but Aaron was right there. I mean, you're talking about the best receiver in the country, right? He made Jeremiah work for it is what I'm saying. And a lot of corners aren't capable of making Jeremiah work for it. But he was right there in coverage. He had another couple good reps against other receivers. And me, Aaron Scott was one of the more impressive defensive backs today. And then, Germain Matthews also within interception. So I think the corner back room really looking strong in this practice for Ohio State. I agree completely. Devon Sanchez made a couple plays as well. He had a breakup against Jeremiah Smith. Lorenzo Stiles Jr. He almost had an interception of a really nice break on a ball. I believe he was going up against Brandon Innison coverage.

And so I think you're seeing the depth of that room. You know, Aaron Scott, Devon Sanchez both mixing in a lot with IGB and Germain Matthews at that first team defense today. And Lorenzo taking a lot of a rep spirit nickel. But it seems like both those five guys, that seems to be kind of that top of that corner back group. And I try to take advantage of these reps when you get to go with the ones. No, definitely. No, most definitely. I think I was definitely trying to take advantage of each and every rep that I got today. And like I said, just looking forward to getting better tomorrow. So that point, Justin, looking at the first team defense, what have you been able to dream so far about someone going to be guys that they've opened into the second area like L.A. And Jackson. Yeah, I mean, Design. I mean, you felt his presence. I mean, OTA. I think he's been a great addition to the defense. He brings a lot of energy. He's just up and he's a great player. So I can't wait to get the pads on because I hear he's pretty physical too. So I played against him a little bit when I was trying to go on. He was in the choice. So I kind of played against him a couple of times.

But I mean, he's a great player and has been great so far. What kind of input did you get from Russ Bennett throughout practice and watching him do that? I mean, I'm a team girl and even turned a bit forth going. Oh, yeah. Russ is always, you know, any question that I have, I can always better ask him for advice. You know, he's going to give his knowledge to me. Of course, he's been in the lead for a long time. So, you know, any advice he has for me, I'm always open and willing to take that. But he was really just, you know, trying to follow along practice. He had the script in his hands and really trying to play the practice mentally. So as we all are, it's quarterback. So, yeah. Yeah. You know, if you find out that Russ, what they're going to be practicing in the corner, you might be playing short term scissors for us. Yeah, I found out right when I woke up this morning. So, you know, last night, just looking over the place. But this morning, I recorded my coach this second and said, be ready to take him out for the long term today. But it's morning, but it's good, you know, to say, you know, some short term, I mean, some adversity, you know, some stuff that's, you know, not expecting, you know, because we're going to face things in games that aren't expected.

Nothing about how we react to those situations and how we adjust. You know, I think it was like six o'clock. I think it was like six o'clock. So, I woke around six thirty. But, yeah, I think, you know, six around six o'clock. Did you change your approach at all, Justin? Did I change my approach? Did you come out? I drove off a little. Not really, you know, I just tried to, you know, do my job for my teammates. And I'm not really changing anything. I try to come out here the same guy every day. She's trying to be consistent. That's how I feel about it. I feel it's all right. You know, of course it wasn't perfect. There's always room to improve, but I felt, I felt all right. And, you know, you know, I missed, I got bumped into, I'm not going to talk about that. But I felt all right overall. Got, got, got some good reps in it, for sure. I think like you guys, you guys started targeting with tight end clubs. How did you, how did you, how did you have been working with Pat Brown? What did you think you could do in your zone? Yeah, I mean, Pat, one thing about Pat, he's really savvy. And he's got a lot of good things on his mind. He's got a lot of good stuff on his mind. And he's got a lot of good stuff on his mind.

He's got a lot of good things on his mind. And he also has a great hands too. So when you, you know, get all those attributes and a tight end, it makes them a great player. You played a lot of 12 and 13 out there, right? Yeah. For sure. Much as you expected, more than 13. You know, we're a team that can do a lot of things. You know, we have a lot of good players on offense. So I think you can mix it up with a good bit. So we're not really expecting anything. So. Do you think you're getting comfortable when you get that text first thing? Say that, you know, mess with your head like that. But, you know, I, uh, yes, I didn't really think I was going to get plenty of it. I think back then, the good of mine? I'm not sure. I don't, I'm not sure how he's feeling right now. I'm sorry. So we'll see. Go for more. Or none. All right. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for checking out this content from Post Gazette Sports. You know, you guys are going through the list. So we, we have to, I think initially, treat them differently. But quickly, we have to get them, you know, all on the same page. They were all on the same page. Um, and so as spring goes on, we'll do that. But early on, we'll be really smart, especially coming off a spring break. Are we the right, Kelly and S.W.S.Y.H. Right. You mentioned the spring showcase, looking a little bit different this year. And you guys are so hashing out those details. Are you able to share what that might look like? Not yet. Not yet. Yeah. I mean, there, there will certainly be opportunities to scrimmage and it'll look like a game. Um, but, um, you know, because of some of the guys that we mentioned, we still want them out there doing some things. So that will probably be in some, some drill work and some seven on seven work. And, um, be good to get everybody out there so that the fans can see them. But, um, but the most important thing is getting the young guys game reps with, with, um, hopefully a good crowd out there. Um, so that, because we know the next time again, we'll be against Texas. So, um, we'll also have to take a hard look at the, the health of our team as we get into,

the end of April. So we have to be able to adjust and, and be flexible with it. Um, but again, that's the goal was to get these guys as many reps as we can in the stadium. No, why is Scott the lantern? Um, Ryan, now that you've had that week after the national championship sort of reflect and sit back, what's, I mean, what do you think the biggest thing is, do you learn about yourself during that entire playoff run? Just to trust the process. Yeah. And just keep pushing and, and, um, you know, um, sometimes, you know, and we all know that it's easy to, uh, to say it's a little bit different to do is you just, again, trust the processing and make the adjustments and keep pushing forward. Um, you know, we always say, you know, ignore the noise, whether it's good or bad, um, because criticism and praise are all the same. You just have to, you know, focus on what you're focused on and, um, and all the work and decisions that are made during the beginning of the season. Um, you know, we have to adjust and tweak them, but at the same time, we also have to believe in what we believe in in our philosophy. And, um, I think it's also, you know, making sure that you're recruiting the right people that, you know,

when you, when you do have a, um, a tough moment, you know, everyone's able to stick together and not going different directions and fray. Um, I think those were all learning lessons. The Abino 24-7 run. As you enter spring balls, they're a position group or groups that you're concerned about, death wise and might you guys add more from the portal? I'm already done a good job in portal, but, you know, one of the things for us that was tricky was, um, you know, the portal was open before our season and open name closed before our season was over. And, and that's something that we got to take a hard look at with rules. Um, you know, and people will say, well, you know, you guys just won the national championship. What are you complaining about? Well, it matters for this year's team. And, um, so that, that was, that was a major challenge for us. Because as you can imagine, you know, if you are trying to add somebody in the portal, but you're still trying to finish your season out, how that can affect your current roster. So, um, and then the second part of that is we get down with the season and, you know, Notre Dame and Ohio State are the only two teams with guys in the portal for that five-day window. And everybody else is closed. And it's open season on our players for five days.

Like, we got to take a hard look at this to figure out what's right, you know, and whether there's just one, one window in the spring portal, once all that is flushed out. To me, it's either that or you move back the games. Um, but again, we can talk about that in another, another date. So, um, you know, we will obviously look in the portal based on how things come out of the spring. We'll look at that. Um, because, you know, we have, we have to fill out a roster too. You know, there's some positions that we don't, we're not at capacity right now. Um, so depth. Let's see. And on defense, I would say right now, D line is probably of the biggest concern just in terms of replacing those four guys. And then also, you know, losing hero. So that's five, five guys right there. You know, we have to replace. Um, I think that we have some good guys and good options there, but, but that'll be a focus. Um, you know, in offense, um, you know, all line is always something that we need to take a look at and see how some of those, those new guys fit in and how it all comes together. Um, you know, and then losing quenchon and try to running back, you know,

James and now we have CJ and some of the younger guys that, um, you know, now they have to carry the water. So, um, that's the thing. So, um, that's going to be, you know, big and obviously a quarterback would be the, the big, you know, the big focus. So I think when you look at it on offense, it's really just, you know, replacing will, replacing trivion and quenchon. And then, and then how the offense align comes together. And then again on defense, it's, you know, losing those, those five guys, you know, and see, who's going to step up in those areas. Yep. That's it. Follow up on mat. Trisha, obviously you mentioned he's done a lot of different things schematically in his time. Uh, what makes you confident that what he did, you know, me NFL will translate to the collegial level. I think a lot of things that are going on, there's a trickle up and a trickle down effect right now. And you're seeing a lot of that happening. Um, you're seeing a lot of guys transition. I think now more than in the past, um, you guys, you know, probably focus on a little bit more than me. But, you know, of what's going on in the NFL and what's going on in college. You're seeing a lot of carry over there.

And I think with the playoff system in place, you're seeing that. You're seeing the coach communicate your host of player communication. You're seeing huddling more. Um, you know, the hash marks are different and there's certain rules that are different. But there's a lot of similarities now. So I think it's going to carry over well. You see quarterbacks who run and were mobile in the NFL nowadays. So there's a lot more similarities now, um, than in the past. And, um, you know, being in the league for just a couple of years, you know, the transition isn't as crazy as maybe it had been in the past. Jeremy Burbin has the podcast. Right. With, uh, your offensive staff being pretty. I mean, you're almost 10 years older than everybody on staff, except for coach. I think, uh, how did that decision to when ship left? Did that impact your decision with the defense coordinator? Is there a thought that maybe you needed to go get somebody who was more of the head coach at a defense style based on the fact that you may have to know more time with the offensive. Yes. I think that you need to have balance when you're looking at your entire staff.

And, um, you try to do that the best you can. Um, and I believe very strongly that Brian's going to do a great job as an offensive coordinator. I think he's really grown in a lot of areas. Um, I give him a lot of credit for, you know, he was named a coordinator a couple years ago. I still called the plays. Um, you know, then we brought in chip and his attitude of like, I'm just going to learn from chip in a big way. And then some of the work that he did, Kenan did and Billy did down the stretch and some of the past game. And I think he's got, you know, a really good handle now on protections and even in the run game. Like he's ready to call it now. Um, but still going to be involved. Still going to, um, just like I was last year. Still going to kind of make sure that, you know, we're all on the same page having Tyler there was important. But I think to your point, you know, I'm still going to be involved with the offense, but I'm able to kind of bounce into the defense. But the more times that we have guys who are experienced and veteran, you know, on that side of the ball. I'm going to stay on offense. It certainly helps. And I think, you know, taking the play calling away last year was really important.

I want to continue to do that and surround myself with guys who, you know, we can hire to do jobs. And I'm able to take a step back and take a little bit of a different role. I think it helped the season. And I'd like to, you know, do that even more as we move forward. Rob Hall or Columbus Dislash? Yeah, more on Matt. He clearly has credibility with his NFL. But I'm just curious in your discussions with him, interviews or whatever. Why he decided to come back or come to college. He's not really been in college. Syracuse a little bit. But how much of that was not a concern, but a discussion point? You've got recruiting. You've got a whole different culture. How did that play out? And what did he say that kind of convinced you that he really wants to be in the college? I think you guys would get around Matt. You'll see his personality. You'll see the way he is. You'll just see, you know, what type of family man he is, type of daddy is, type of husband he is. You know, he did coach at Syracuse. He and Tim worked together there.

But, you know, I grew up in New England. I obviously saw the run that they went on there. And when you go and run the way that they went on, you know, you stayed a place for a long time. And, you know, I don't know if that was, you know, something that maybe even early on, he thought he was going to be in the NFL for as long as he did. But when you're around a great organization that goes on the run that they went on, you end up at a place for a long period of time. And then, you know, he's there for a while and then has an opportunity to become a head coach. Well, now, you know, it's almost like a different mindset. You know, it may be a little bit of a different chapter for him. Doesn't mean he's sure he'll have an opportunity to go back to the NFL. But, you know, I think it's Ohio State. I think he understands the culture. You know, we spent a lot of time talking. And I think he sees the opportunity here and he's excited about it. I think it's a new chapter that he can absolutely come in here and make a difference. And I think that's what he wants to do. And I don't think the recruiting part is going to be very difficult at all. And you'll see it when you get around him. Joe Nuchin, WCNI.

Naturally, it will be a starting quarterback this year. You started that process. If you got to be, that'll be. Where are you with that? How much information do you feel like you have on the guys that are in the mix? There you go. And, you know, they're going to have to compete. And, you know, we need a quarterback to be tough. We need him to be a leader. I've said this before. They've had a great opportunity to watch Will even Tavion, you know, because he was a big part of, you know, being around these guys last spring. I don't think he missed his spring practice. I've been doing that for a long time during the season for all the games. He was with us for the last two weeks or the last two games. He was able to see what that looked like. Lincoln was with him every day. Julian was with him every day. So like, that's the standard of what the leadership should look like. Now they got to go do it. And, you know, being the quarterback around here, and I mean, you start listening to the guys who have been here most recently. And down the history of Ohio State football, I mean, you're in, you know, you're some of the best names who've ever played the game. But the biggest thing they have to do is they got to lead. A long way to go on it.

Don't have any evaluation to go with right now. But it's going to be a big spring for those guys. Tony Gervin, Buck Adolph. How do you see the quarterback reps going? It's going to be like a 40, 40, 20 or something. How are you expecting to break that down? Early on, we're going to try to roll. We're going to try to go three groups so those guys get equal amount of reps. You know, we'll split up who goes where? And even the last two with Will, I mean, we did that. You know, guys were getting reps with the ones. Guys were getting reps with the twos, the threes. You know, the times where Will was out there with the threes early on. And just rolling because if you put one guy with the ones and two, sometimes it can look a little different because of the younger guys, older guys. So now we're going to roll and we're going to try to get the best evaluation. We can will evaluate everything. But specifically early on in the spring, we want to roll those guys the best we can. Because the number one goal of spring is to get individual players better. It's it. You know, we can get scheme in and all that. But fundamentally, technically, we've got to get better as football players. And then once we get into the sun, we start putting the scheme together. And we start coming with the chemistry of the team. And you know,

it's putting them back. What are your expectations for the other one as for food and in your higher process? How big of that was big big. And I you guys can probably already see he's making an impact. He's getting guys here. He works hard at it. You know, he makes connections. He's build relationships. He can evaluate at a high level. And I think he with. You know, with some of the guys that we have, you know, on the offensive staff together, you're starting to see a group are cooling there. And so again, World House state, you know, we should have the best players in the country. And he understands that. And again, this is another guy. The more you get around him, you'll see his personality just jumps out at you. And the guys love being around them. So, you know, we'll see how the spring goes, but he's off to a good start. At Murphy, twenty percent score. Brian, you mentioned Brian, you're all right. Brian, are you ready to take over? Play calling. What have you seen in the last two years? Why do you feel so comfortable? I think the first thing is his work ethic. Yeah, he's worked his tail off.

And when you evaluate, you know, coaches, you know, you got to work at it. You got to be one of the first guys in the building. You got to be one of the last guys to leave. I mean, you got to grind on it. I think he's made the transition from being a player to a coach very well. I'm going to quit here at a time. His recruiting speaks for itself. But to me, the work ethic has been excellent. The players relate to him. He has credibility. He's got confidence. But he's grown as a coach. You know, he's handled situations well. He understands, you know, you know, we're on the headset. I think that's one of the things, too, that people don't realize. Like, yeah, the play call is the play caller, but like in between series. Now, we need to get to this. We need to get to this. It's third down. We're going to get to this. He's been on the headset. He's there saying we've got to get to this. We've got to do this. Like, sees things, makes adjustments in game. But it's going to be fun to watch him, you know, manage a group of people now. Because that's a big difference. You've got all the coaches in there. Now, you're the guy who's got the clicker. You've got to make the adjustments. You've got to challenge those coaches.

You've got to make the tough decisions on personnel and where we're going schematically. And you know, I'm still going to be there. But like, you know, I've really tried to, you know, let him go and run with this thing. And so, I'm excited to see, you know, when you look at Brian, when he's put his mind to something, he's got it done. And I believe he's going to get this one done too. Austin Moore, podcast. I felt like Billy was an no-brainer promotion for you. What made that so easy? You know, he really, I say this to a lot of the coaches. When you walk in the building, it's your job to bring value. And I think sometimes some coaches wait to do things. Billy jumped on it right away. He saw this as an opportunity. And he took it and ran because of the opportunity that these coaches have not a coach in the field, which they didn't have in the past, spent one-on-one time in meetings. He took that and ran, and would chip being the offensive coordinator. You know, he quickly, you know, became a quarterback coach really last year. And the good thing for Billy is he was here before. So he knows how we want to coach things.

He knows how we teach things. He understands the progressions. He sees it the way that we see it. So him walking in the building, that was, he was a step ahead that way. He's very smart. He works really, really hard at it. He's got a really bright future in the game. And I think the guys in the room know him. And so it was just, it was easy. And, you know, for me, it was good because we see things the same way. And I believe that, you know, I can walk out of the room and what we want to get taught is going to get done. Now, there'll be, you know, another great evaluation this spring. But I saw it last year. I saw the work he did. He's very, very talented. Joey Kaufman from this dispatch. Ryan, the, with the makeup of the offensive staff being as young as it is there. But past years, we've had somebody like Chibla Astre, Chibla. And we'll just wonder what kind of impact you think having much younger staff has. I think it comes down to experience. And now when you start looking at what, you know, Brian's now been here for a while and you look at, you know, Tyler's coached a lot of football and, you know, lock and, you know, even Keenan now is getting a little bit older.

You know, these guys sound now more experienced than they, they didn't pass. And again, I'm still going to be there, but I think it, ultimately, evaluated based on, you know, what you see. And, you know, these guys just won a national championship here, you know, and a lot of coaches haven't done that. So they've seen it. They know it. And so, you know, I think that, you know, it comes down to your worth. It comes down to, you know, what you've done. And I think I got a chance to see it on a day-to-day basis. And I think these guys are excellent. Doug Lamarice, Kings of the North. Ryan, in hiring Matt Patricia, he had a sexual assault indictment in his past that did not go to trial and was later dismissed. What was the discussion with Matt around that and what kind of betting process did Ohio State go through? Yeah. So, you know, as you know, you know, when we make these decisions, you know, we spend a lot of time, you know, in the interviewing process and getting to know people and we always take everything into consideration.

And, you know, that situation in particular, you know, asks a lot of questions, vetted it. Ross Bjork was part of those conversations and, you know, and feel really good about the hire. And, you know, our program, as you know, is, got great values and, you know, standards of how we handle ourselves, which, you know, you get to see on a day-to-day basis and that's not going to change. Bill Rebellion, Columbus Dispash. Yeah. I know you were not going to name any kind of frontrunner for the quarterback job, but people have reigned about the way Julian throws the ball. It seems to have all that, although it seems to be kind of a low key guy. How much do you want to see the fire in him? And that was one of those biggest qualities. Is that almost more of the bigger challenge for him than the football stuff? I think all three of them, it's that way, for sure. Yeah, I mean, that being a leader and showing that toughness and showing that fire and showing that grit is, you know, willed in a great job with that.

So we're coming off the heels of that. So again, these guys got a chance to see that, but yeah, I agree with you. I think that that's the biggest challenge. And that's, Mick, does a great job of really fostering that behavior, enforcing those guys in a leadership role. Get them in front of the team and speak. You know, you've got to get going and that takes reps. So the first few times it might be a little clunky, it may not be very good, but the more you do it, the more confidence you have, and the more you get to find your voice. And that'll be important for the quarterback, because you know here. We have two more questions. Bill, land this. Games of the North. Right, when you have a coordinator like Matt, who has a lot of success on the same side of the balls that had coached, like with what Bill Bellicite, how do you evaluate that and try to discern that coordinator's impact as opposed to just like being in a very good situation at succeed? Yeah, and, you know, like, you know, with Doug's quite, like the amount of time we spend vetting all those types of things to find out exactly what's going on and the history behind it all is, you know, you call the guys that he worked with, you know. And I think that's a great question.

And that was, you know, honestly, one of my questions, you know, what did it look like? And so, you know, you ask guys who were actually in the building, you know, Nate Evans, one of them. You know, you ask coaches that he coached with. I won't get into the names of the people you call, but you got to make a lot of calls to find out, you know, about people. And, you know, what you found out was, you know, I mean, he was running the defense now. Certainly coach had a, you know, a big hand in that. But as time went on there, you know, it was his show and there was certain a lot of collaboration there. But, you know, he's very, very intelligent, really knows defensive football and the guys who played for him, you know, really felt like they were getting better because of the way that he taught football fundamentally. And I think even our guys in the building now, in a short period of time, it's making a lot of sense to how he teaches the game. So, all those things were part of the evaluation and the Mika decision. Jeff Gilbert, press pro. Coach, a year ago, all the talk was a national championship with everything you had in place this year's different.

The data discussion still is that too much pressure on this group. How do you handle expectations with this team? And as you often say, you're not allowed to lose here. Yeah. Yeah. No, it doesn't change our expectations don't change. But, you know, I think whether it was last year or the year before this year, I mean, that's stuff's ever going to change. And so, you know, we're going to go. But I do think coming off a last year, you get a chance to learn about your team. You get a chance to grow with your team. But, yeah, I mean, I think it's what, 176 days or something until we play Texas. I mean, it's, it's coming. It's right around a corner, I heard in 73, I think maybe. I mean, it's coming. And we got to be ready to go with this team and this group. That's just the way it goes. And, you know, we want to continue to stack these years. And I've got to be playing our best football at the end of the season. But, yeah, I mean, that's, that's not going to change. And, you know, I think last year with everybody coming back and, you know, some of the additions that we've been doing, you know, some of the additions that we made, it sort of created a lot of attention nationally.

And that was what it was. But ultimately, that shouldn't have affected how we went about our work. That's just stuff on the outside. And, you know, whatever they're going to say about this team, shouldn't affect how we go to work each day and how we start our first game. Go, thank you very much. All right. Thanks. And folks will migrate out onto the indoor. Thank you. What's been most eye-opening to you? You've gotten on the field about just the transition from playing ice cream balls to the level you're at now? Most eye-opening things, just like the game speed.

I know I got a stale enough film, so everything is slow down for me right now. But, everything, the best reason is most eye-opening things. How do you guys like signing in our belt, trying to be what is that meant to you? It's kind of a future transition, kind of subtle down here. Just like Coach Learn, they played here at Ohio State before, especially at the lineback position. They know what to do and they know everything that it takes. Just looking up to them and doing what they do, I definitely will be doing it. You mentioned the game speed being a big difference. Is there been a moment that you've been out on the track on the field or whatever they've been going on? Not really, just everything right now, right now, he's just moving pretty fast. I know it's going to slow down pretty soon here. Here at Mike right now? I used to remember. How difficult is there to have? How much more is that for you as a true freshman? First spring, also, you're the middle linebacker? It's just a responsibility, getting everybody lined up, getting the call, but knowing my assignment.

I didn't know how it's going to go, but it just ups you up a little bit more. I'm just going to take some getting used to, but I know I'm really... How much do you think that's going to help you in the ball? What? Being Mike. I think it's going to be good, being able to roam around and just taking charge. I'm definitely used to that and comfortable with that, so I feel like it's going to be good for me in the ball. Does it help you learn a defensive scheme faster to have that much responsibility? Yeah, for sure. Knowing what everybody's doing and everybody's responsibility is definitely going to help me play better. What's a typical day like for a true freshman middle linebacker trying to learn the defense off the practice field? Off the practice field, just waking up and getting there early, probably watching the film. We got practice or weight, so we're not getting through that. We got meetings, so more the game knowledge, then we got an individual meeting, so just learning to learn to that more. After that, we got class and stuff, so after class, we definitely got to stay on the film some more.

What film are you watching? What do you watch? Oh, practice film, practice film. Like your film? Yeah, knowing what I did wrong, what I could improve on and learn new installs. All of your tricks physically since a role. I definitely got a little bit stronger for sure, speed, speed, a little bit faster. You came in at what and you are at what now, as far as weight? I came in at two of them, I'm at two of them. What's the target weight? You have a second all your try to get there. Right now, two, three. Doesn't take make long day, because you guys want to be right. What do you expectations for your freshman? Every time you get to get some talk to James Lourenias, he has nice things to say about you. What do you expectations for your first two? Just getting on a field and making plays, I feel like that's a good experience for me. I just want to get out of there and make plays. Describe your game as a linebacker. I think I can do a little bit of everything I can cover, I can rest past it. I can play to run to. I think those are all my strength.

I think my strength is a factor. When there's usually a big Texas flavor on this team, a lot of Texas guys has been here for like the last ten years. That's got to make you feel kind of home. Talk more about that if you would. Just Texas guys, you know, football is really big in Texas. So with that Texas Ohio pipeline, knowing I got guys from Texas, I love it. They'll stick to the proof. I'm the goal line. You open up with a long horse, start your collegiate career. Thank you Peter. A little expert in dancing. Thanks for that. What does it inspire you to see what? Cody Simon was able to do here last year, not only as a player, but as a leader? That's definitely something I look forward to becoming and being able to do those things. That Cody did, the way he played, all the plays he made. I feel like it's a good aim for me. What kind of example is Sunny setting for a group right now?

Sunny, his position, his switch from safety to lineback. I feel like the way that he played last year, being his first year at lineback, I feel like if he could do it, I could do it. So that's definitely getting sound. Do you have a lot of experience playing safety? Yes, I have a feeling so we got fresh from here. Thanks. There's a lot of motivational factors. Obviously you want to win this, you want to win an actual change. But how do you keep that same kind of edge mentally that you had in that Tennessee game to give that kind of offensive performance? Yeah, that's the challenge, man, is keeping that edge. And I think we play well when we have that underdog kind of chip on our shoulder mentality.

And that's what we came out with last game. And that's the challenge is how do we not listen to any of the good stuff right now? Because the same people that are patting us on the back were beating us down two weeks ago. So you just got to remember that and remember to not eat any of the sugar and just keep our heads down and keep grinding and keep having that same edge and that same mentality. And it really starts with how we practice, I think. Not more. What kind of helmet? When you share my experience with bracketed chip talking about the back, that's really you. You really want to take advantage of that. That's not like a play calling thing. That's really you. So when you see, hey, you've got a couple guys over there. What's that view for what you see on the rest of the field and what you're receiving in the process? Yeah, anytime, you know, a defense has to put two guys over one. I mean, it's either creating matchups elsewhere or giving you numbers in the box. Whatever it is, you got to be able to work with it and see it. And I wouldn't be surprised if people are going to start bracketing number four. I'd probably do it too.

But you can't forget about 17 and two and 88. We got guys elsewhere. So if you try to take one of them out of the equation, then we got other dudes that are going to step in and make plays too. And that's the thing. You can double them and they'll still go and make some plays. You know, that's all part of the chess game. And like I said, playing a team twice becomes even more of that back and forth chess game. How are we going to scheme them up and vice versa? But at the end of the day, it all comes down to execution and finding the matchups where we can and taking advantage of what they give us. David Duguys, my WTMA. Well, you talked a lot about momentum in the playoffs. So what kind of advantage does that give for a team like yours against a team that hasn't played since the big time championship? Yeah, you know, I can't speak for them because they obviously have had a little more time off. But in terms of us, I think playing that first game did give us a little bit of momentum and feeling good going into this next game.

And if I was coming off of four weeks of rest, I don't know, it'd be a little weird coming out here and playing the first game. But we said we wanted to get that first one and then get this ball rolling from there and keep this thing going. And I think I can't speak for them, I don't know, but we feel good about where we're at. Have a new fuck out of it? Yeah, well, is Jeremiah always open because Jeremiah thinks Jeremiah is always open. Yes, he is pretty much, you know, they got to put like three or four guys over him for him to not be open. Yes, he's unbelievable. Man, he makes some pretty crazy plays and can do some great things off the line of scrimmage. And then, you know, when the ball is in the air, he goes and gets that thing. So I mean, he's special. Awesome, or the fuck out? Well, this isn't specific to the last play in the early game, but when you're talking about rematch in a second shot, how many times do you think you watched the duration of the first matchup as you're doing a film preparation?

Two weeks after the game as well with the off-week, but also now, time to prepare for Wednesdays. Yeah, more times than I can count, man. We got the game planned in the facility here, so nobody's forgot about it. You know, I watched it quite a few times that by week afterwards, you know, how could I fix it? And then, you know, at the same time, you want to flush it and get away from it, but now, you know, that they're back, you know, they're the squad we're playing. It's like, you know, I have watched it, and it hurts me because I'm like, man, there were so many opportunities for us to win that game. And looking back at it, it's like, man, we just didn't play our best ball that day. And it makes you excited, because we got another chance at it. And like I said, you don't get a lot of second chances in life. And God's blessed us with one. So we got to make sure we take advantage of it. And it's a hell of a team, man. I mean, Oregon's a great team. They do some really good stuff, man.

And, you know, it's not going to be easy. But we got to go in there and, you know, do our thing and, you know, take what they give us and impose our will, because that's the only way we can do it from here on out. They played six of the games, then. So they probably change the person else going to be different first back out there. What's the balance for you, prepping where you can watch yourself against them or the other six games that they played since then. What's the, what's the great equation breaking that down? I don't know if I have that answer. You know, I went on watching film. I'm watching a bunch of different film. And, you know, our, our game is one of the games they played. I'm going to be watching that a bunch and then also watching the other games they played because, you know, it's, they have changed a little bit and we've changed a little bit. And, you know, nobody's just going to stay the same every, every, you know, every, every week. You're upgrading. You're trying to become a new version of your team. So we got to, you know, evaluate where we're at, where they're at and see what the best method of trying to figure that out is.

We got time for a couple of calls from the worldwide web to the zoom, cash, or rather James Craig. Well, you were certainly quite effective passing against them. What does make their corners effective though? They're both five foot ten. That's relatively small compared to your receivers. What, what makes them pretty effective a corner? They're, they're very athletic and they, you know, they're not as, as physical as some of the other corners we played against. You know, they're not trying to like put their hands on you at the line, but they're very good shadow guys. And they're, you know, they stay with, they stay with guys and they stay over top of, of dudes and they don't like to, you know, get beat over the top. And I, I don't think they get beat very often. You know, obviously they're going against their, their playmakers every day, which, you know, they got some, they got some fast dudes over there. You know, I think, I think they're both great players. I think sevens, you know, I played against him when he was at Oklahoma State. I think he's a, he's a good player. He's solid. They're both, they're both solid players.

But, you know, I think, I think we got, we got an advantage physically a little bit that we need to, need to take advantage of and make sure that we don't let them just, you know, stick all over us. And, you know, I'm not worried about that. But, you know, they got good players and we're going to have to show up and win our one-on-ones. Let's go to Cameron T. Robinson from the athletic. Hey, Will, I think it was a little earlier in the press, what you said that obviously you guys had changed. You guys are a different team. But for you, how are you different from that, from since since that, since that organ game? Yeah, I think, you know, you try to evolve every, every week and you try to learn from the, from the good things and from the bad things. And, you know, I don't know if I could say, you know, one, one thing about, you know, where I've gotten better at, you know, what I've gotten better at. Maybe, you know, my completions, you know, just trying to take, take with the defense gives me, trying to get, get smarter with that with my decision making as the years gone on. And, just get more comfortable in the system, I think is, is another part of it.

You know, I don't think there's one thing I can necessarily put my finger on, but, you know, just trying to learn from, from the good and from the bad. And, and, you know, evolve in every single week. We have one more Zoom call, go read, associate, and press. Well, what's a bent like, having Chip Kelly is your offensive coordinator and just how is a relationship developed and maybe improved during the year? It's been really good, man. He's a super bright guy, run game, past game. I mean, he's coached, you know, some of the, some of the best players that I've, you know, grew up watching. And, you know, I think just getting to work with him and just getting to be on the same page with him about a lot of things. You know, the more that this year has gone on, we've kind of just, you know, I feel like we're in sync right now, pretty, pretty damn well. And, you know, we, we both kind of see things the same way sometimes, but then we're able to, you know, have that healthy discussion of, you know, what, you know, what, what do you like here? I think our relationship has just gotten better and better as the year has gone on. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with him and working with him.

And, I think, you know, we've, we've had a good time with it and we want to finish this thing the right way. Is there a quarterback that he coached? I mean, you liked or took after? Oh, I mean, I wouldn't say necessarily one of them, but, you know, I did grow up, you know, when I was an Eagles fan and he was the coach of the Eagles. So, you know, I've seen him what, you know, he's brought up clips in the, in the quarterback room of, you know, some of the Eagles stuff. So that was pretty cool. I don't think there's, I wouldn't say there's one quarterback. I emulate my game after necessarily, but, you know, yeah, it's, it was cool kind of the first time when I was like, oh, damn, you know, coach the Eagles back into this. That's pretty cool. That time for just a couple more questions. Maybe I'm making too much of this, but I think I'll Jeremiah's second touchdown. I think before the snap, you like looked over there a couple of times. I don't know. Can you just walk us through what you were seeing? And did that play just ultimately turn into, oh my God, he's one on one cover with one safe. I'm throwing it up. Yeah, so on that play, I'm looking at where the safety is. And if the safety gets over top of him, I'm not going to throw it to him.

If he's not over top of him, I'm going to throw it to him. He didn't get over top. So I was just making sure that they were crazy enough to leave him one on one. And they were. So. And by the fact of Bill Rebenwitch, one of the best. That kind of along those lines. I mean, when you see him in man's cupboards, what I want is it almost like automatic. I'm throwing to him. It's an easy position. If we got it called, yeah, yes, pretty much. I mean, there's quite a few routes where, you know, if it's an excisolation or a one on one concept. And, you know, if we have one on one with him or really, you know, you leave any of our receivers one on one and it's pretty hard to guard. That is a very talented receiver car now on Brandon. But Jeremiah just seems like on a different level than anybody, especially the freshman. You guys have that appreciation like, oh man, this guy is special. Yeah, I mean, I think you forget about it a lot. You know, when you're around it every single day, you kind of forget that the kids was in high school a year ago.

You know, he just doesn't. You just around him. You don't feel like he's a high school kid. You don't feel like he's an 18 year old, 19 year old. Like he's he's just mature beyond his years. And yeah, he's he's special man. He's different. I've never seen a kid his his age. I've really never seen anyone be able to do some of the stuff that he's able to do. So, you know, I've only been here for, you know, 12 months or whatever. But yeah, he can do some some pretty unbelievable stuff. Well, thank you very much. Thank you guys. Go bucks. I feel like when you get here, it's just it's a whole not a level. Um, he's going to keep coaching well. He's going to be hard on you. He's going to tell you what you're doing. Okay, just going to tell you what you're doing wrong. And you're just going to push it to be your best. Kind of roll. Yeah, it's moving all over. Yes, I was just like for you just getting to be here and see, you know, this team win an national championship in the first few weeks on campus. It's crazy. I feel like I knew that they were going to do it from the beginning of the season. I feel like they always had the potential.

And then they came out here that did it and the freshmen we had an opportunity to sit there and watch it. So I feel like now we just got to do it again. What did you learn from back just watching about just it's all hard work and it's just a bunch of guys and it's really a brotherhood and it's really just our family versus their family. And we just got a person here and we got to win the games and get back to the net. So it's a hard line. The total line was saying that Parnell and Brandon have really been leaders in the wrong. So why do people how have they both been leaders for you and me every on the own see when they've been leaders just in multiple ways, whether I call them. We're in their in the film room together on the jugs. I'm asking them about this route. How I can run it better, I'm asking of how I run this route on this like those guys, they're like big brothers and all that does help me. A valuable is that to have guys that are in the playline football but also been a college for a while so we're doing good ask a few of the various things about college life. How valuable do they think that? It's real valuable for sure because they're their first round pit guys so I feel like

just being in a room with those guys and if you're able to thrive with those guys you know something's going good for you. His pressure has been brought back to me. I get specific to Tavian. It's a pressure of companies. What have you kind of known about him and learned about having a relationship with Tavian? I always had a good relationship with Tavian. He recruited me hard to come here so I feel like we always talked and he came here and he's been doing this thing, they've all been doing their thing and Julian's saying he's another Cali Kisso. I had a little relationship with him too so good to see Julian, Lincoln and Tavian all doing real good. What is that next step for you Julian? What do you want to get better at? It's great. I just really just everything. I feel like you can never be too perfect and I feel like you just got to keep doing your job. So I say maybe just just showing up more and just doing my job to the T. Going against these cornerries or these TVs, how does that kind of lead you better? That's going to lead you to their pretentious. In high school, I had a five star corner DJ DJ on Lee, he's at Alabama.

So I always had good work with corner. So I feel like it's just a lot, I'm going against a lot of good guys now. Instead of just being one on one that practice with DJ. So it's real good for sure. Does it take more turns to play with Slot? Does it take more courage to play with Slot? What do you mean by that? Because there's more stuff but they think there's bigger injuries inside. You have to have a, you've got to be aware of it. But that's a thing for courage to do that. I guess you can say that. I feel like I've just always played Slot. I feel like that's what I've been better at. So I feel like it's just what I have to do to be on this hot. No matter who's in front of me, how big he is, how strong he is, I feel like if I got an assignment, I've got to do it. That's what tackle is a position that draws a lot of focus. Are you going to face this more pressure than the position I'm online? You're opinion, what is the problem mindset to succeed at that position? I think that the mindset for me has always has been that when I win my,

a one-on-one, the ball goes down the field. You know what I mean? And I think that's what I'm most excited about just being a left tackle is that, especially with the protections that are a little bit of longer plays where the left tackle tends to be. A one-on-one or the plays I tend to love the most because kind of halfway through the play, you're all eyeing them up and just know that he can't go anywhere. Start to smile a little bit, you're like, oh, dude, ball's gone. You know what I mean? Ball's gone and it's going to be a touchdown. It's going to be a huge gain. So I think for me, that's kind of the mindset you have to have to have the left tackle spot is that, as soon as I win my rep, we're going down the field. So that's just the mindset I have in terms of how well I have to prepare. Do you want to mindset where the people that you want to get there? Honestly, I'll say that mindset kind of came from college. Again, obviously I played with a lot of great guys in college. You know, I'm glad we have all of those guys here.

You know what I mean? To throw the ball to as well just because against one of those things, like with CJ, you just, again, a left tackle, my mindset was just, well, that's CJ just do his thing and that's my thing. I want Kyle to be able to do his thing. Don't worry about whoever's over here, just do your thing. That's why you're here and just throw at the Marvin. And, you know, it will be good. You know what I mean? So that's something excited about. And I think all that starts because of what we do on the line. So when I think just not just myself, but the entire room takes pride in, hey, like when we do our job upfront, that's where everything else goes. So let these guys we have with the ball in their hands do all that. All that magic we just got to do our job just to entertain it when you're one on one, you know. Were you, you know, displaying that spot and mean something special just because of the history of that position and, you know, just of all the greats that have played left tackle? I mean, do you ever think about just the past and the, you know, the people, the players before you who were in that spot and did great things?

Yeah, I mean, again, I feel like just from, just as a young guy in a game, I, of course, try to, I like to watch the, the greats the game. I like to watch guys like, a weight worth, of course, you know, a really Anderson, you know, he played on the right side, but again, I think continuing to watch the greats that played the game just can take the dominate for those guys. For me, to be able to talk to them again, to be able to learn from their story and their journey and how they developed. Of course, I understand I want to create a, I want my game to be able to be able to be able to do it. I want my game to be able to be like theirs in a way to where it's talked about in a way of like, that's a guy you need to watch just to watch with, you know, the fight that you played with, the finish that you played with, and the technique you played with, because those guys played almost 20 years, you know what I mean? So, and again, I think that's something when you watch the guys, though, the legendary guys come before, yeah, you know, they're strong and they're tough guys, but, you know, I don't know, but when you're like 36, 37 years old, you probably not that strong.

Not as strong as you used to, but that technique and just the skill set, that's something that I admire. You mentioned earlier about the guys going out to UCLA and kind of getting out of the heat. I'm curious, when you're working out here, do you do anything outside or do you avoid a doll together right now? I don't know, I'm always outside. I'm always outside. I don't mind the heat. I love the heat. And honestly, for me, it helps some of like 30, 20, so I kind of warm up quickly. So it's kind of nice for my warm up. I don't have to be doing like 30 minute warm up. You know, you kind of just be outside long enough, go like this. And your joints are on go. So, I actually, I like it a lot. Going back to the players that have been in the league for a while, Calvin Beachham is one of those guys that's been in the league for a decade plus. What have you been able to learn from him? I think, again, just learning how to be a pro in terms of certain things. Like, for example, I'm a guy that when I like to train by myself, I'll just take a thousand reps of a set, a thousand reps of a reach block.

I'm a rep, rep, rep, rep, and type, I've done a hundred times and I wrote perfect. And some of that beach is like talking about in terms of being a pro. And I thought to me, that's me being a pro, as a young guy, I think I have a lot of, I reps in my body, so I'm going to take a lot of reps and preparation. But Beach is a guy where it's like, it's not about necessarily the quantity in terms of its really through the quality. But even more so, you know, you're off season, you don't got to be doing something like this every single day. But when you do it like from your first rep, even your first rep is not like you're, I'm taking this rep, oh, it wasn't good. Because it's going to be better on the second one, like each rep, even when you're by yourself, is just kind of, I guess a mindset, I just gave yourself 15 reps instead of doing 60 reps. And I sounds like a huge difference, but to me, I don't mind taking 60 reps from by myself. And there's nobody that's waiting around on me. And I'm by myself, I can, I'll take my time and I'll do that. But just being like, I'm going to do 15 perfect reps and I'm just going to slow down and take all my time, stuff like that.

That way your body, that way you're not, you're not, you're not doing too much before camp, you know. Many of the guys that left guard in the mix were here last year, except for Evan. How does that relationship develop throughout other overseas? Yeah, I mean, so honestly, I like that, that's my guy. We like to compete, we've been competing in the weight room since day one in terms of just like, what we consider like athletic competitions. So like even in the weight room, I'm at the very end of the week when we're done lifting. And I'll talk to Evan and I'll be at an understanding, it will just do some sort of competition, whether it's grip or whether it's jump or where it's pull ups or something. And I don't let him wave until I beat him in all these two things. Like so if we do, if we do a jump thing and like I always thought was the best kind of, I had the most height when I jumped out of a line, I could dominate anybody and that, but he beat me in that surprising size. All right, now we're hopping on the bike. And then we did this bike thing, I beat him on a bike, and now we're doing pull ups.

So I beat him on a personal kid, now we can leave. But we just have that, and we're always just competing. And then again, obviously he wasn't on the team with us last year. I think what he brings to the table with being a vet is that he's like a plug and play guy. He knows, he's been in those scenarios before. He's played with guys like Pene, when he was with Detroit. So obviously he's just being able to talk to him and how this is how it was when I was setting with Pene. This is how it was. I was saying to see all these are the different things that I can do that mirrors some things. Like in your game, how you set, and I'll talk to him about what I like to do in certain scenarios, and how his set can sort of match that. Does that make sense? So I think he adds a lot. What's the longest you've stayed after until you've been? To the point where a shrinkage is like, you guys got to go. You guys got to go. You guys should go.

We're not trying to break any rules around here. But it's just me and him just going, and he loves it. So even us starting to do it, we started to get other guys in the O'Line that tried to hop in on our competition for fun. But only matters what be Evan. I'm just beating you. So it was fun. And I think this is probably the biggest year. It's just better to not share. And even though having a great year last year, it's just that the buy-in is just... I don't imagine how good that we want to be. We want this back. And I think all of us coming together and all of us coming back this year, it's just...

It's a group understanding that we want to come and we're handling business. There's nothing more than just business. Statistically, I mean, you look, I think you guys have a lot of 20 points last year. There's not a lot statistically that you guys could do to get better. So where improvements can you guys make to really get to that level? I think the improvements that we need to do, I mean playing good throughout the year, but when the big games come, we got to play. That's where we have to be the best. We can't rely on anyone else. It has to be the defense that runs the show. Have the time, have the offense. Got to carry them all back and have them do their day-do and know how to worry about us. Let no points or anything like that. So definitely big games we have to come. This is a really big difference. Even last year you had so many guys, it feels like a big difference. We just got a lot of guys. We got a lot of good special talent. You know, you just got to find a way to get these guys on the field. And it's just having a lot of new guys, we got to definitely bring them in and definitely find the gel with them. Get a chemistry with them and just bring the defense closer than we were last year.

And that's why my man goes. He's just a worker. He's been working for as long as he's been here. And he's just trying to find ways to get better every single day. And I just wanted things I applaud him for. He's very passionate. He's very passionate about getting this back. He has his heart. And being a kid from a house, just like me, is just having a passion for one to win. You're playing for the Ohio State University. You want to win. You don't want to have to settle for anything less. He seems like things really put for him down the stretch in that Minnesota game. Yeah. It's Michigan and Missouri. Oh, yeah. I think he just, I mean, he just had to be bought in. I mean, as a unit together, we just wanted to do better. We wanted to be better every single game. And I feel like he just understood that.

And every time he went in, he just knew that we were playing for each other. So he went out there and he played. He stopped thinking, stop thinking less than just going. And he just played and the play showed out for him. Is it hard as a player to, I guess, get to that place where the game comes natural? Oh, yeah. I think it definitely comes with experience. I mean, usually players play better towards the end of the season because they have more experience than being out there. So when you play more, you usually know more what's going to happen. So it's either it'll be easier to be out there rather than thinking in most of the time. Thank you. There you go. I'll just ask the central Ohio guy, just what does this mean? I mean, you're here in third or fourth year. What does it mean for you to take pride in what's going on? Oh, it's a special feeling to me. And it feels like I have like the whole city on the back on my back. Just being able to be out here and just it's a blessing to be playing for the Ohio State University. So I mean, why the cherish every single day just a tree like my last. The third year under coach will you guys feel like you got the defense internalized and know every fit of what you need to know, I guess.

Yeah, I think being the third year I mean the defense is just like right now it's just fine tuning a little things. I mean, everything we're stuck, we're very glue or glue with everyone with all the plays and stuff like that. So we just fine tune a little things that we can get better at and pretty much just bringing in with anything new that we have. Just bring it in and really bring it together. So I think we're good. Now, people look at you and Tyler because the main guys inside, but you are some of the other guys that really start to come on. They're going to be giving you guys some extra playing time against this year. I think a lot of the guys are really pushing forward to a tree playing. A lot of interior guys like Hero, K McDonald, guys like that will, some of the other guys back there. They're really pushing the play. I mean, anybody in a defense line could play right now. I feel like us together together as a union and make each other better every single day that's what's going to make everyone. Because they're trying to get this year to everybody to play. Everybody needs to play. You're good. Thanks a lot. You know what? You won't have to just first of all just, you know, what do you feel like you're going to do this year as a fifth year guy to take your game to the next level?

Right now, it means just stepping into a fifth year of being here a while. It's a leadership role. I feel like being a leader in here, I really have to push younger guys and really have to step up for the men. I've been here a long time. So I feel like really elevating the guys to below me and really making them better. Because if they can play just as good as I can play, then we're going to be unstoppable. How does it help you play confidence when you have so many veterans around you guys that you've played with so much? It helps us because it just has this chemistry thing. So that's being together for so long. I mean, being in the system for so long is like natural. So if we go out there, we don't have to think too much. We just go out there and play because we know we got each other. For you, was it an easy decision to come back for another year? Was it, did you have to think about it? Definitely had to think about it a little bit. But I think all of us coming back, we all had to understand that. We still have something here. We need to finish this unfinished business that we need to take care of. What are the biggest things that you feel like you can do this year to help yourself get to that next longer? Definitely think just playing harder, just having more experience to be out there playing the game. And being out there more, just refining my technique and stuff like that, just being able to be out there and make more plays.

I mean, just being in the right position at the right time. Is there a defensive line in the hole like what do you guys have specific goals for yourself this year? How you think you can get better as a unit? Right now, we don't have specific goals. I mean, right now, like I said, we're just working on technique and we're working on the little things. The little things are in the big thing. So right now, we're just trying to get the small and the fine detail refining because we're going to go out there. You can be on need those when you're in the game. You mentioned your leadership. How have you seen the depth behind you start to develop this strength? It's definitely coming together. I mean, there's a lot of guys. There's a lot of guys really growing up and so they're really pushing the ranks right now. And this is, I mean, as I can say, anyone could play. I mean, just the way they work every single day, any guy could come in and play in the position. Is there anyone who's really jumping out to you so far with spring? I mean, all the guys are jumping out. I mean, we've only been two practices so far, but I think all the guys are really working. It's like a group unit that everybody is pushing hard. Next time. Thanks, Ty. There you go.

All right. I don't know where Jay ran off to, but that leaves me for you. Pastor. You know, play in the end game. They both played both positions in your defense in their college careers. Does it really matter what you pull those two then if they can both play both? You've got Jordan in the slot. Yeah. Is that even? Like, I don't know. Yeah, you do because you have specific job responsibilities within those. But they become more interchangeable and fluid in how you can function with those pieces. It's not like a true strong or a free safety. You know what I mean? Those guys are able to complement each other and you have more flexibility within your packaging to put those guys in position to make place. Yeah. What have you seen for Jordan? He's time. We saw him on Saturday running with the ones who they have with the two. Seems like he's making a little bit of his opportunity with the two. Yeah. He's been on the rise, you know, to me from where he was when he started spring ball to where he is now. He's made more plays at practice.

His eye discipline is better. His understanding of the defense is better, which allows you to be able to play free and be able to play fast. So that's what I've seen so far and I can expect that to continue. What about Jalen? How's he been? He's been great. He's been great. He first off, we do a thing where we track. How well you run to the ball every practice. One of the things that we grade, right? So you can talk about all the schematics that you want. Coach Knowles has all that. But if you're not running to the ball, you're not playing good defense, right? So we track that and he's one of the guys that every single practice is one of our highest grade guys running to the ball. So he's been awesome from an effort standpoint first. Attitude, he's in early. He puts the work in and he's made a bunch of plays out here. So now I'm excited about Jalen McLean for sure. You're talking about running to the ball. Do you mean like he's ballhocking really well in the back end or is it like I know it was for the football running game or both? Yeah, so we're really tracking effort and how hard a guy's playing from there is what we do. But I would say this too. He's been around the ball a lot, right? With his alley running and he's downing the ball and on a break through run or fitting gaps and things like that. And then he's got really good range in the post for the half to. So he's done a good job of both of those things. I guess all the above.

Yeah, I do. I do. And you know, it's been an opportunity for you have a couple guys that are out there. So you're able to continue to grow the depth and be able to see what guys can do and you have increased reps from that standpoint. So I do feel confident. You know, I feel confident in the guys that, you know, how they've performed so far this spring. And the guys that haven't been out there, I feel confident from what their abilities are, what I've seen on film. And then the mental preparation from that standpoint. Now I would go back to refer to, you know, what late than was like a couple of years ago and taking that same blueprint. Yeah, he's done. I would say the mental side. I would say if you took, he has really good physical skills. You see him when he walks on the field. I mean, he's a, yeah, no doubt. I would say the mental side of the game, right? Really understanding what's the defense, what's my eye progression? Where do I fit into this chess piece? You know, what's my chess piece in this whole match that's happening? And yeah, I've been pleased with him and he's putting the work in to make sure that he understands what's going on.

As a coach, what is it like working with him? I wouldn't say weird, I'd say it's great, right? And because his preparation is so high level, it challenges you as a coach to be an elite teacher, right? Because he's going to be on his game, he's like coaching a professional player, right? He understands the concepts in the game so well. He's put so much time into it. As a coach, you better be matching or equaling that, right? Going above and beyond that, because if not, he's going to be a step ahead of the coach, right? So it's been awesome to be able to push each other to make each other better. He's got a great understanding and feel for the game. He's a great young man. The work ethic is really high level. So every value that you would look for, not just for a skill or entangible thing, but who he is as a person, I can't say enough about who Caleb Downs is. It's been awesome. What's the next step for you for waiting then? We'll talk about the preparation that Caleb has. I'm just waiting coming back from your file. Yep, and also coming back from injury. What do you want to see from him? Maybe it's leadership. Maybe it's on the field. I don't know. What is it for you?

Yeah, I think leadership is definitely something, right? He's a guy that's been there, done that. He has accomplished a lot, but not the goals that he wants to yet. So I would say from a leadership standpoint, holding guys accountable, and he's done that at a really high level. And then his own preparation. I've been impressed with, you know, if you're not taking as many physical reps, what are the mental reps that you're taking? And he's done a really good job of having daily routine, putting the time in, making sure that he's conscious of me with everything. So I would say the off the field stuff is a step in the right direction. What did you take away from your experience like you as a coach coordinator? Since we last saw you, you've been through multiple spring practices. What did you learn, something in your time, or whether it's just for you as a coach, that you brought here to bring the safety of your injury? Yeah, I think that you learn different ways to be able to do things, whether it's taking the ball away or tackling methods, or, you know, the way that it's taught from other defensive coaches. So to learn from a different tree and thought process and philosophy, you know, I try to, I pride myself on being a teacher,

which means that you better always be learning, right? Or you're getting behind. So I would say, yeah, just different ways to be able to maybe do similar techniques or things that have to be done from a defensive principal standpoint, and then, you know, bringing that to the table. As you step back and you say, okay, here's how I've always done it, or I've done it in the gym-null system right, and then you're in a different defensive system, and how does that get executed, and then you can blend some of those or pick what you like from there. So a chance to reflect that, say. Did you feel like you accomplished what you wanted to away from the gym-null system to bring it back to the gym-null system? Yeah, I mean, I think any time that you're, no matter where you're coaching, right? You have principles of defense and a way to be able to play defense, whether you're how you tackle or how you play the red zone, or different things like that, and there's metrics to be able to track that, and some improvement was made. Not enough of my opinion. You only move, there were strides from that standpoint, and then, yeah, when you come back into it, you say, okay, the system here has developed in a year that I was gone, right? And then maybe I'm able to develop a little bit as a coach too, and from a positional coach or a coordinator mindset, things like that,

and then you're able to mesh ideas and come back, and you learn, hey, what's the new that's happened over a year, and then I was able to see the big 10 from a different lens as well. So I think that's valuable. Man, it's a lot of people who are down a few safeties on Saturday, and kind of how do you feel about your depth and balance system right now? Yeah, it's something that, you know, we've addressed and say, hey, here's the guys that have played, here's the guys that haven't played, who's taking the reps right now, and how do we grow those guys? You know, from a past standpoint. So I think that's a work in progress every single day. So I've been pleased with the guys, I think there's been a, you know, steadily on the rise approach from everybody in the room. So I've been pleased with the guys and the progress that they've made, so I feel good about it, and I expect that to continue throughout spring, and then continue throughout summer and into fall camp, you know, from that standpoint. Yeah. People are some of those guys that maybe haven't played much here, but you can see it making a move with spring. Yeah, Jayden Bonz was taking advantage of the opportunity that he's had, Jalen McClean's taking an opportunity, you know, advantage of the opportunity. Inky had a really good day today, you know, was taking advantage of the opportunity.

So the guys that, you know, have taking reps, you know, I'm pleased with watching those guys, you know, continue to progress, you know. And the Caleb, I think, has, you know, learned our system and done really well, and did better every day. All right, thank you. Thanks. Appreciate it guys. The game, the intensity, you know, I've said it a thousand times, he doesn't get incrementally faster or stronger, the game mentally slows down for him so he can use his skill set that way. So what is that we're talking about? That's his weight, that's his strength, because those numbers are going up, so he can play with more pillar strength, he can play more contact, he can play more comfortable, even though his 40 time didn't go from a 5-0 to a 4-8. How have you seen Seth act away to himself into the role of the show? He just jumped right in. Unbelievable job, both ways of him just coming in with shelving the ego that he had, he really had none, and walking in and saying, I'm walking into a room, as we told him we recruit him, like, you're coming into a room, a bunch of good dudes.

And then our good dudes are good dudes. He came in and there was no, it's like, you're here, here's how we do, here's how we operate, and let's go. And so that learning curve for all those, whether it's a high school mid-year guy or a veteran mid-year guy, it transfers in, there's a learning curve there. Just circling back to what we had, natural maturation a little bit, because he's been through a little bit of spring boys, been through a little bit of camps. So you're still learning the terminology, you're learning a new skill set, but he just dove right in and wanted to be a sponge and wanted to learn it. He's doing a good job and he's improving every day. So that's what's making the battle and the competition, all these graded snaps really, you know, good for us is because they all have that mindset. So from Seth, awesome, the unit in the group, awesome, because there was no combativeness to it. It was, let's get in, let's go on this compete and then let the guys win. Just seeing what it all looks like, the skill set made you guys what you're looking for. Just learning the same deal, all the young guys you're coming, you got to learn how to play in friction. So having, you know, three tech, having a two eye, having those guys like right in front of you.

That every time you take one of those reps and you're out of your base or you're in your base, you feel the good, you feel the bad. So being more consistent that way, you know, you can't make moves or shift guys if they're not mentally there. And so for him, he's got a pretty good football FQ. So he's continuing, he's growing every day, he's working and he's getting beat every day too. And he's learning from those, you know, it's on the spring time. You know, we have saying in our room, we're like, in the spring, it's yes and it's no. And I know it's KNOW. Why didn't the rep work? What happened? And how do I make sure I don't repeat the same mistake? And so whether he's coming in and watching the tape on his own and then coming with questions, he's grabbing me and watching tape with me or we're coming doing stuff as a unit. He's learning so that same deal the game can slow down and he gets more comfortable there in friction. So I mean, he's, his weights up, his strengths up, he's spending all of his season with Mick. You know, there's a lot of development that still has to be had. Obviously not a finished product, but being able mentally for a guy to handle that, you know, helps a lot. Are there any good concerns? Similar to Carson and I, he's been in this business for a couple of months now, this side.

He has to buy the kind of Luke as well. He seems kind of like a leader. Luke, a leaner guy? Did you tell him that? He paid you to say that? He did not pay me to say it, but I would say it. That might be the first time he ever heard that in his life. No. No, you know, like Luke Carson, whoever maybe that jump of 18 to 19 to 19 to 20 year old kid, that plays a lot into it too. Being in a full year with Mick. I mean, all those guys, you coming at mid, you're like your Devo and Dion and Ian more right now. You're keeping your head above water. That's your whole first year. Now you can actually get and we can set. You can talk about a jam combo or a lock or whatever the call may be to Luke. He registers that and I like something new because then there's paralysis by analysis. So I think the middle part on top of another year, natural maturity of getting bigger and stronger, that's always going to help. You're not going to, guys here, they're not going to regress.

It's going to keep adding progress and how fast can we get that going? Is what we're working on every day with him? The Josh had said that he would have been all-guarded to this point. Coach Day has mentioned this several times that Josh could play guard too. And you guys are trying to work through that, Friar. He's, I mean, Josh could play off-eye. I mean, he snapped the ball in high school. You know, Josh had a great off season. But for you, when you're going through a spring and it's fact-finding and experimentation, how much do you want to put them in different spots or not? Because you also have an eye on August to try and settle on five-man rotation. What's the balance of that for you? You have to get a really good, gradable set so that everybody has numbers of, you know, just like we said before, how many times have we done? A run blocking or pass blocking in this situation so that that all evens out. So that's the, it's not experimentation. It's just making sure that you get a good book of work to work out and grade that. So as we, you know, work guys around the platoons and go just to make sure that everybody gets good, gradable reps. So we can sit back by the end of spring and say, all right, this is your comparing apples to apples and oranges and oranges.

Not, you know, apples to oranges because it's completely different that way. So that's kind of the thought behind that as you, as you're going through the spring. When you got here a couple years ago, because I was a full-juice, you're used to now chip Kelly, you're going to be here as office of court man. What would you have said? Not laughed. You know. But then I said, you know, it's college football, so who knows, right? What's that been like, I'm sure you're enjoying it, what's it been like? Yeah, I mean, he just added to another piece of just good people here. I mean, you still, you're coming to work here with the guys every day, you know, with the kids we talk about a ton, but then for us as coaches as staff. So adding just another good dude that's in the room. Obviously, as he says something and, you know, he might speak in old terms or terms that we had, you know, maybe be a little bit of a rosetta store like, no, no, this is this. He's like, yeah, that's right, because that happens to all coaches. That happened to me when we got here. First, I was at Coach Day sometime with Ryan's like, you know, what do we call this? Because he was in a system like that before. And he's, oh, this is this now. So I think just the, you know, translation of the rosetta store and their help, but just overall standpoint of adding a great guy that's a great coach that's been around that's.

He's going to supplement the room and every time you add something new to the room, then that makes the room better, makes you individually better. Oh, look how he does that. Maybe I could do that. Maybe I can bring that to my meeting room. Maybe I can bring that to communication to the staff or to the kids or whatever it is because he's, he's done it for a long time and he's done a high level for a long time. So it's good to add that guy to us and then continue as us to rest the staff for me and Brian and key and everybody just learning and growing with that. What does he bring to you? It kind of specifically just, I mean, does he from a talent standpoint? Does he see things sometimes, others don't see, I mean, does he, I mean, you know, what does he kind of brings from the chalkboard aspect of that? Well, I mean, what you're saying. So what does he see? It's good to have fresh eyes come in that maybe, you know, you're getting a routine and you're getting a rhythm and all of a sudden. He looks like certain aspects of like the running game. He looks like a football. You know, he's one of those guys that I think goes into categories, forgotten a lot of football and some people have learned in their life.

But no, his, I believe he coached every position on the field both sides of the ball through his whole career. So as he looks up and he writes when he's talking about, well, this will linebacker is going to do that. Then he might have coached that at Columbia, right? Or this is what the three techs going to read on the down block of the tackle because he's coached the offensive line and he's been a coordinator for a long time. So just a really good vision of big picture, understanding and, you know, the next step and not just being running an alia. What does that say, Stigra? If you had a theme or whatever, this spring because I mean, this seems kind of like a, not a make it a break in time for him. The time to step up and step in point was nobody cares. Nobody cares what struggles you have or whatever. You got to go out there and feel like you can jump. It's a life point. If you notice anything different about tech, what do you see about tech? Yeah, he's competing his butt off. I mean, he's kind of living that way. You know, that's why we have that, the red line over there. And you cross the line, you know, coach, they talks about that here, like that it's the game doesn't care.

You're off the field. You got to come out and step out and do your job. It doesn't care about anything off the field, right? That can sound really negative and harsh, but then it also, if you just spend your tone, like, isn't it beautiful that the game doesn't care? It doesn't care your skin color, your socioeconomic background, where you've come from. If you just want to do it the right way and the 53 and the third, the game will love you back. You know, so I think it's the approach mentally that guys take that way. So yeah, for Tegrit, he's taken that approach. Like, he wants to come in and be a guy. So he's fighting and clawing and scratching every day. So when he makes a mistake, he's trying to correct it when he does it well. He's trying to enhance it. And that's what competitive people do. And that's what he's showed up to do. So that's good that he said that. For some, what's his command on the field been like as a center? And is that difficult when you're coming into a new offensive line to have that? Or is there something innate about the center position? If you've been experienced at it, like he has where you kind of have that, I guess, command on the field over with any offensive line. So I should say it over, it's not over again. You're saying the competitive center with who now?

Seth. Okay. Yeah, I'm saying, like, how has his command of the field been? And has it been difficult, I guess, to adjust for him if he's to have a certain level of on field command, you know, at that center. Yeah, I mean, the on command is just great communication getting everybody on the same page. Yes, having a bunch of banked reps helps. But then when you do come into a new offense, just like we talked, you know, with Chip a little bit earlier. You know, he might have called it yellow and we call it green or something. I don't just make it stuff up, but the transition of that in your head to get going with that. Yeah, the comfort of having a ball on your hand, having a guy, I mean, you talk about that, that kind of conversation of football, like play one handed and have, you know, tie leak this far from your face. You better have command of something, you know, so you got to understand the communication and the technique and those things there. So yeah, I think him coming into a new place, the game's not as fast as it probably would be for a younger guy. But also, there's mistakes there that he can learn from and grow from and the same day. You know, the one thing we're not having concerns with, we're not driving right now as the guys just competing and trying to get better after a mistake or like we said, we're enhancing as they've done some stuff really well and he's adapted to that really well.

He's a football center. This spring is the same for Sam and how do you assess their doing by center versus guard? They both have been ripping it center. Yeah, for the competition aspect, could they roll out and play guard? Yeah, probably both of them could. How do you assess that? You just got to give them a bunch of guard reps. But if you send guys out too much that way, then that's not good coaching, you know, so we got a good plan with everybody. Those two guys included as we're moving ahead, but yeah, they've been really working at center position right now, both of them. What do you guys want to ask about Josh? No, I have it. He obviously came after spring practice here. How has he been in this spring? It kind of speak to how what the challenge must have been for him last year, not having spring practice stepping in playing that position in the experience for a back. Yeah, same. He's been here not even a full year yet.

So coming in the summer, doing what he did, coming in through the fall. And then now I mean, the same with him. Sound like a broken record. I think the game's slowing down for him. Those mistakes that may have showed up or the questions that he had through the fall. And as we got going through the season, those are starting to erase a little bit, which is good. You know, his communication level is just talking more. That's probably the best thing that he's done so far. He's a highly, highly talented guy. We're just developing that skills and discipline and does it go into communication. So as he communicates and talks, that's probably the biggest thing I've seen from him, which I think, you know, volume and communication equals confidence. And so he's playing much more confident right now. He obviously has talent. He also would have a few plays of game or, you know, the penalty or whatever. Do you see them reduce those? A bunch. Yes. Coach, thank you very much. Thanks, sir. Thanks, guys. Thanks, coach. Thank you. Thanks, chef. You're my bare fans. Thanks, chef.

All right, folks, we will come back when? Communication, I think that's about the big thing. The game, but you got to be able to, you know, call it out like a pressure might come and stuff like that. So it's a winery for both. I'm just curious about the two-hour-round. Coach, for I, it's coming to the summer. If the start is resonating, I have no spring for sure. But I think that's their level of understanding how we coaches and what he wants to use for years. And I don't know how to do it. They don't matter. I hope you, folks, we have Dalin, Hayden, not the 20. Yeah, who wants just 100% effort and just to work hard? Like obviously, like, there's more to it, but those are things that he wants to do. He wants to play fast, play physical. That's the summer I pick at every day. Someone out here gets the best to do it for. You know, I'm going to use all the four of them. Can you go back and ask him, is it almost like you? Yeah, all the stuff that was thrown in me, all the stuff I had to adjust to. I don't really think that is great for Barney's games and even the future. Definitely, but I kind of, like when I come in here, I knew Coach Fry and staff, like they were going to, they were going to definitely like, scope me into the player.

Like, that I would use. Yeah, scope me into that. Yeah, like they know that like, scope, I mean. Oh, scope. Yeah. Like, just kind of make me into that type of player. I mean, the development factor from Coach Fry, I mean, getting these, like, I didn't even, I just, I mean, I'm just kind of keep going with him and keep riding with him. Yeah. How do you get spring back this time, or all that stuff? How much better do you think you should do? I guess we'll see. I mean, I'm going to keep picking that in. Sure. We'll see what we have. One to my players. Coach, you describe who's on the big day. First of all, do you have a dream with that? What do you think you should do? I guess. Yeah, I would say sure, but I mean, I can't really take credit for something like that. You know, the man above, kind of put that in my dream. How much is running game changing? New odds, whatever you want to call it with Chip Kelly in charge? What if you noticed this little bit, little new odds, is her stuff? I mean, maybe like little things. I mean, little things add up to big things, right?

Yeah. I mean, yeah. Yeah, where do you think you guys were lacking at some point last year in certain, some of those matchups? I mean, it was a whole new line, so I mean, like, I know the side came a streak with each other, but other than that, it was, I mean, it was a hard game. Nothing's going to be like, for sure, what's going on? You know, you can have some hard times. Did Missouri test y'all about as well as anybody? Just about, yeah. Yeah, they were pretty good. What did you know coming out of there? Y'all had to get fixed. To be honest, I felt like we just tried to go out there and just play hard. Like, obviously, we know, number six was a really good player, so we just started to make sure keeping either back good as much possible, so that's really, we should try to go to. The striker game a little bit, Josh, wouldn't you do well when you saw him work out with those just in the striker days? Yeah, so as a left tackle, I feel like the number one job is to make sure nobody gets to the quarterback, and that's something that I try to do, make sure nobody kind of get around me or go through the range, and just keep the quarterback clean out of here, there's a lot more. Yeah, they have to be a well-rounded player, you know, more people in the run and stuff like that,

that's probably one of the biggest things, not sure if the quarterback is going to run the block, however you are, I was just essentially self-patterished. Yeah, so I mean, we got, I mean, we have the main deal I'm going to go through, so I was twisting and stuff like that, so in the run, no twist, too, so you just kind of like, I guess you just got a really state technically sound, that's somewhat I'm trying to do in the run. Josh, if you're going to get Mitchell Melton much this spring and stuff, what stands out about him, obviously, he came back from a couple of knee injuries and stuff, but what just jumped out at you back then? You wouldn't even know he had the two knee injuries, I mean, he's so, like the way he rushes, it's so, like, it's his signature rush, like, it's something that you can't, it's probably the hardest person I've had to block here, if I'm being honest, like, he's very twitchy, great with his hands, amazing get off, and he has that sneaky power, that if you're not really like, setting for it, he'll get you, so. And I want to get your take, you know, you came here from Cineo State, your center, the guy's transferred in Seth McLaughlin, whether he starts him, I will see, right or no, he's from Alabama.

He's an amazing you have, college football teams are put together anymore, because he could be a key thing, and what does that just tell you about the game these days? I mean, yeah, I mean, it can go anyway, I mean, like Seth is a great player, I mean, he tells me, like, you know, stuff that they did differently, I bet on the stuff like that, and I try to take some of, like, maybe some advice he has, because he's been, you can't have college football for a little longer than me, so. Yeah, he seems like a grown up, doesn't he? Yeah, he comes across it way then. What's the line of the line that you're absent with a little bit of on the pieces? And like, if you're going to take this, what's the line of the position? Play fast, play physical. I mean, there's obviously more that we're working on. We're learning like, each other to be honest, I guess, you know, the right side is, like, kind of like, going a little bit. I mean, not with fire, but like, you know, we have, like, some people that compete. I mean, we're all competing. I know I am, and stuff like that. So I just, we're just trying to play hard in play physical. And the way you're out of your most experienced, experienced, how helpful is it, how, necessarily, really, a spring in the world to have that.

Yeah, I, it's very necessary, especially when you kind of got a new OC and stuff like that. You can get, it's best to kind of get, you know, comfortable with the scheme now. Then maybe, like, post-academy, like, in like, a few weeks in here, to get we going, so. This one last year, you know, like, do you have to lead on to your future? Uh, I mean, Donnie's like, dude, I owe Donnie a lot. Like, he's an amazing player. He gives me, like, insight on just, but it's like Notre Dame. I've never been, like, more nervous for a game than Notre Dame. I just kind of talked to him. He said, we got it. Keep doing what you do, and we got to, we got to, we got to, we got to, we, probably, we got a lot of, especially. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The, the everything with, you know, people just trying to talk to you, saying, you saw the World Salvin tackle, commenting on my girlfriend's post of, yeah, and it's a lot of great things.

It's kind of crazy to see, but at the same time, like, understand their passion for us to win. So I get that. What, do you think it would have been? I, I didn't think it was some of my standard. I thought I was thinking too much and not playing. And I've deleted my social media. So I got other people who control my social media now. So I don't, I don't do any of that. Any of that. So. The same line. It's like, you're obviously was from both you from the whole unit, like, an improvement over the course of last season. Yeah. And then the combo has seemed like a step back. Yeah. So you think that it changed any of the process in this phone industry? Yeah. No, I think the conbow was a little different because Matt moved the center. So like, it was kind of a new piece to the puzzle, I guess you could say. It was difficult because you're trying to get comfortable. And you get comfortable with Carson as center and then they change it to Matt. But I mean, the cotton bowl was kind of a learning curve for all of us with Matt being at center.

Did it. Did it. Did it feel like it all wiped it? You guys said, giving back all those progress you would made over course here. Did it add to kind of a chip on the shoulder or what you guys had to prove still coming into the future? I think the second one you said the chip on shoulder. Because I mean, the defense locked it down that game and we didn't produce anything. We went back and watched it and were like, this isn't good enough as in our standards. You can say it was like a movie after the game you watched it. Oh, yeah, immediately. Yeah, like after this practice, how about go immediately watch it, break it down, talk to the fry, talk to Donnie, all those guys to see what they're seeing, how it could improve on this and stuff like that. What was kind of the feeling of watching it that first time we watching that game? For me, I usually watch myself and then on whole entire office time. For me, I didn't like it. I thought it was disgusting for my performance and then for the office wine, I thought we should have cleaned it up a little bit more than what. It was.

I guess you could say that. Yeah, yeah, it was just like because you're on your guy and it's like what the hell's going on? Like what's what's what's happening back there? Because you don't have the eyes in the back your head. Yeah, yeah. Hey, Tiger was just here a minute ago. I was. To the picture, Tiger you go. There's. There's a big time off. It's a line. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And he said basically the approach to this spring or whatever it is. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. You know, what you're going through, what your challenges might be, et cetera. Yeah. What have you seen that's different about him? I mean, I think his approach is approach to coming on the field practicing and not just taking another rep, just going and emphasizing that specific rep. Like, okay, I got to get to my spot and I got a punch. And that is what's improved so much about it. I like your hat too. I'm a big golfer. Yeah, I know. I'll work just for you. Did you go in? Yeah, I'm a.

I do ball. I'm a ball on here. Oh, that's sick. Are you going out of Pinehurst? Oh, yeah. That's sick. Yeah, number two. I'm a. Grandview's got like four holes just like Pinehurst. Yeah. I like going and watching Memorial too. Yeah. I'm a big golfer. I love golf. Hey, get back to Tech for the way. Yeah. What could you surprise me to this depth pool here for you guys on this one? I think it could be huge. He steps up in place and I think Teber could be a big time player. He just got to get like he said, taking that approach to the field and being a professional every single day will help him be the person who's going to be. Yeah, I got this request from somebody else to ask you. Who are your top five foods? Jerry top five foods. Oh, God. Am I on a diet? Like in my in football or is it like I'm 40 years old and you don't give it to you. I think you wanted without gaining any calories. Okay, so I'm going to go restaurants.

I'm not going to go food. I'm going to go number five would probably be water breaker. Number four would be hardies. Three. Drop three were sitting down. I don't know. I like sitting down. Domino's is number three. Number two is McDonald's and number one's in and out. What about barbecue heaven? A couple of more than king of fairies. Oh, yeah. That one was good too. Yeah, I like that one. I don't know. I guess I'm not a big barbecue guy because I have it so much. We talked about, you know, thinking too much on the field and not just playing. How do you get better? I think just comes with more of watching the game breaking it down in the film room and then on the field when you're playing. I just constantly going through it and then like, all right, just play. If this happens, I don't care. Just go and go hard. Is there something I guess you could do mentally reset? To set yourself in that next. Yeah, yeah. There's a lot of things go through your head.

Free snap, but at the end of the time it's you versus him. And I'm just like, all right, this guy's not going to get there. Let's talk about run game differences. Yeah. Yeah. What do you see there? What do you like? Yeah, he's creative. He's very creative in everything. Overall, I've asked that to the offense. I can't get too much into detail about that. Yeah, but coach Kelly brings a new perspective and he's a great person and a great human being. Really, really super good coach. All right, Josh. Thank you, buddy. Thank you. I've turned around and you come in and you just catch on the fly. It takes a lot of time and attention. I'm just thankful for a great coach and staff and a great unit around me. I've got you back then starting off with a rock and those guys to Cade. I think there's going to be a very example of the way that you're supposed to attack blocking and being entitled here at Ohio State. And I've been just thankful to be able to have that example. Hey, fellow, what are you waiting at? 2,35, 2,40, what are you waiting for?

2,45. What's it been like? Yeah, well, it's been great. He's been good. And somebody that's came in, humble and is ready to work. That's been the only words that I have for him. Not many words, but he's here to work and he's done just that. And I'm just going to have... He's learned a lot. He's got a piece of holy work. Like I know you guys worked on this. Sorry, but you missed four. No, I didn't miss it. But also that's what he's doing. You guys learn a little bit. You guys learn a little bit. You guys learn a little bit. You've got a bit of a lot of work. Yeah, I think essentially that's the culture of our room. When we come up the wall violent. We're looking as soon as hard as we can. We'll clean up the details after. So that's kind of our mindset going into it. And yeah. You went free to hear fucking what you're doing. How hard is it to be received or something? Oh, you're a fast-forwarder. In reality, it's like you know you're using a lot of tools. Like how hard is it to kind of change the perception? Or I know you guys don't pay attention.

But also, a lot of the industry has got to catch you. Really? Pretty good. A lot of them too. Yeah, I'd say it starts off with like you kind of got to. It starts off with tuning out the outside noise. And what other people have to say about it. And it's really your mindset. I kind of look at it as it's like a drop in a bucket. You know, if I got a big bucket. There's no one thing I'm going to do to make this bucket full. It's a daily thing where I put one drop in it a day. And you look back over a year, two years, three years. You look back and you're like, man, I've gotten a lot better. And so like I said, I'm just very thankful for the unit. The guys that I have around me push me very hard. And I'm just thankful. You mentioned that the development is part of TETX. What was the book challenge you parted you to me? All the things that you did in the play. Yeah, I'd say definitely the size component. You know, you got to be someone that's you know, when you've got to be big, you've got to be strong, you've got to be fast. There's a lot of jobs that you have to do. It's a very asking job. You need to buck the big, some of the biggest guys in the field. But also run routes off some of the smallest guys in the field.

And so I think this thankful just to be out here and do exactly that. What was it like to get that shot the other day for them to pros counts? Run routes, catch balls. Oh yeah, show off. Yeah, no, there's a good opportunity. I think some of the big, you know, region behind it, and just giving those guys out there that were at Pro Day, we have limited numbers. So just get out there and give those guys a breather. But maybe the opportunity to get to go out there in front of scouts. I think that's a pretty good deal. And you take only a quarterbacks to this point. The quarterback battle is going on. What's been your take on Will, for example, get to know him. Yeah, and of course, David. I think the line said that we have body around here is ironing, sharpening iron. So that's kind of like, it's not just one room. It's from top to bottom, club, this whole team. No matter what position you are, we're here to work. And I think we're all here to make each other better. Whether it's in a quarterback room or tight-known room, we're running back room. Offense for his defense coach for his coach. It doesn't matter. We're all just ironing, sharpening iron, especially this time of year in Spring Ball. We're not doing too much game planning for next week. Which we're really just spending this time to get better.

And build a good foundation for ourselves. It's time to work on room forward. If you've seen Will, how we're fitting in more and more, is the practice that's going on? You know, getting to know everybody and all that kind of thing. I mean, I've been here for a while. I'm sorry. Yeah, I think it's time. I think it's time goes no matter where you are. You start to adapt and you start to get used to what we have going on here. And so it's good to have... Thanks. Yeah. You're welcome. What's it been like? Yeah. It's been a long time. Longing conditions. Yeah. I'd say when it comes to that, I think it's all the glory to the Lord. And I decided to give my life completely to the Lord a little over a year ago. And that kind of really changed my outlook on the way that I approach football. It's no longer something that I idolize. It's just something that I do. And I think from the time of my life where I stopped, you know, compartmentalizing who God was in my life. God was something that I do on Sundays or something that I do in a Bible study.

It went from what I do to who I am. And so now I embody that as who I am. And so some of the fruits of the spirit is peace, patience, and kindness. And so those are kind of the things that I've started to embody on this journey. I think it's easy to kind of compartmentalize football away from the world. But ultimately, it's all one. It's all one. So it's giving me a scared of patience, peace, and joy with the guys around me. And so I'm just, I'm thankful. I'm thankful to be here. But just being quite honest, I just, I know for a fact, I wouldn't be where I'm at right now. And I know on the outside looking in, you know, I was like, you know, where are you right now. But I wouldn't be where I'm at right now if it wasn't for my, you know, relationship with the Lord. It really came into my life and you know, changed around for a better. But G, what did you see from Bennett Christian last year? How did you know that suspension? How did he work with that? Yeah, I think he did a great job. A lot of perseverance. I think that's no matter who you are, when you're kind of hearing news like that, that you're going to be out for a year, that's hard. No matter where you are, I'm really proud of him because he came up, he came to show up every single day.

And he got better. He got better. The easy thing to do in that kind of situation is throw in the towel, be like, man, you know, you know, forget this. Or I'll get better next year. But I saw the drive-out and one thing I seen every day he showed up, he got better. And I'm proud of Bennett and I'm proud of this unit. Why's the question of seeing Mike and Shane go? One, two, three, oh, I'm feeling it. In your heart. I mean, yeah, I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that question because if you go from one unit to another unit, the moment you trade units, you're no longer in the unit you were initially in. So you're now a tight-end. So I mean, to answer that question, I think the time that I went from in the receivary unit to the tight-end unit is the moment I became a tight-end. Kevin Wilson was my coach. Coach Rolson was my coach. And I was a receiver. It's just different.

It's two different roles. I think I'd say to answer that question. The moment that I decided to come to play tight-ends, the moment I became a tight-end. And so now over the years, I've gotten better at playing the position. But the moment that I transferred over, I've been a tight-end. And I'm excited to be a tight-end. Another position I'd rather play. The buck-ass. Thank you, G. You're welcome. Yeah. Leaders and how we want this offense to look like in some of the ideas that we may have as well. So it's been a really cool transition. You talk about the transitions. Your third offense in three years, probably your fourth and sixth years. Yeah. How do you not kind of build up some barriers? Yeah. Man, I got to do this again. Right. I think, you know, human nature is always a factor in whatever you do in life. But I think I try to make a conscious choice of coming in with a new year mentality each and every year. And I think it's easy because we've had so many changes. And it's been great working with Marcus and Jaden and Jeff and Sam and all of everybody.

It's been great working with all the quarterbacks. I just have a mentality of not really being complacent. I try to really focus on the things that I can come back better at this year. And I've been working my butt off to do that. I think the easy thing, and when I was younger, you're like, dang, like you just want that consistency. You know what I mean? Like you want that something you could depend on, but like life isn't, life isn't always like that. So I've been reinvigorated because of just the energy that DQ brings in. So our building each and every day and the coaches as well. Like it's fun competing, you know what I mean? And sometimes I could get lost in the grind. But I think the reason why you make it here at this level is because you fall in love with the competition of it. And I think the competition breathes the success because that is really where you, the iron truly sharpens iron. So you know other guys are going to make plays, but when you get excited to go in there and know that the next day we're going to go right back after the defense.

So for myself, I'm just looking forward to continue to grow with the quarterbacks that we have. I'm in year six now, which is extreme blessing and leader one of the leaders in our room. And I just try to take the bull by the horns with that. And so that's really been my focus and you know I'm excited for another year. So us, it's looked like you're being more vocal on the sidelines to help young guys. Definitely something you decided this offseason or? I think that's been a part of my maturation process as a leader. I've always seen myself as somebody that was a leader by example. But from coaches and other teammates I've had over the years, guys like to hear what I have to say for whatever reason sometimes. You know, and I think the biggest thing where I've tried to figure out where I fit in with my vocal leadership is, I never wanted to be like a dictator. You know what I mean? I never wanted to tell guys what to do or be a yellow or things like that. I wanted to say something I wanted to have power. I wanted to have meaning. And I hope you know the guys would feel the same way if they were to ask them that question.

Because I want to see all these guys win, man. Like it's hard to make it in this league and stay in a career. And so anyway I could help the receivers, the DBs. I'm talking to some alignment. Johnny who's rehabbing his foot. You know what I mean? Like everybody has a role and everybody has a different story and path. So if I could share what I've been through my testimony to help them or do things that kind of slow down the process, I'm going to try to do that because we need everybody from the rookies to the 10 year vets to make this thing work. So more so I try to speak to what I know and really those honest conversations that I try to have with guys where they know I'm coming from a good place. And I think I'm not the type of guy where I'm just going to talk to them. Like if they see something like I could take a coaching point from Luke McCaffrey. I could take a coaching point from Deonney from Jahan from Marcus from anybody. You know, like I think that's what makes you a great player when you can really be coachable from anybody and not take it from a personal standpoint.

Hi. Good. Going back to what you were saying about Cliff and offense. How is he as a teacher in teaching all this? Yeah, I mean, I think he does a really great job of making things simple, first and foremost. He doesn't overcoach. And I think that's the trust that he has in our group and his coaches, our position coaches to fill in the details. So we'll have an install meeting and it'll be a good amount of time. But then our position coaches will have time and we'll make it specific to that position. And so then we'll come in and have a walkthrough. And then after that, we'll have another walkthrough. And so I don't think there's been a time where I've come out here and I'm kind of worried about what I got. You know what I mean? And when you get into certain offices, there could be so many details where you could be overwhelmed. And I think then it forces it kind of separates guys in a sense that like one guy may study more than another guy. But when you have these sessions that we have where we're having an installs in the morning, we're having two walkthroughs and we're coming on the field and doing it.

I think you notice a lot of guys are playing a lot faster and more confident because he's keeping it simple. But also he's very particular in what he's expecting. But it's not a lot. So there's not a pressure to get it right. But at the same time, you know it's expected of you and you know you're going to have the tools given to you to be successful out there on the field. And this offseason, just the totality of change from front office players coaches, the turf field. What does that have been like for you just to see what's going on? It's been fun. You know I think from Mr. Harris and the entire ownership group down to Adam Peters, down to DQ, down to Jada who we drafted and bringing in Marcus and Jeff and all those guys. Down to leaders we have on our team. I think it was extremely specific on the way they tried to build this thing going into this year. First of having the right people bringing in leaders, bringing in guys who love to compete. First thing that DQ said when he came here was in his first meeting like if you love to compete this is going to be the place for you.

And I love it. You know what I mean? I love bags and going at it with the DBs every day. Like the little mundane stuff can seem a little boring. But I think that was where you make the gains during the offseason where you're really focused on. I'm going to give all I got for this day and I'm going to get better and then I'm going to learn from the film and come back tomorrow and ready to do it again. And he also understands like the benefits of having breaks. Like he's giving us breaks. We've had weeks off here and there that we can compose ourselves. But then come back and give it all we got. You know what I mean? And when you got a coach that understands the physicality of an entire season where you guys do need breaks by the same time we're going to get after it. It makes it fun as a leader because you can take that to your room and be like, yo, we got these we got this week. You know what I mean? That's extremely important. But you know we have this little break coming up where you're going to get your your money your body your soul right. So coming into this season I'm really optimistic of what we can be this year.

And I think it started with the foundation that the ownership group and the entire staff has built. And now it's on myself as a leader to continue to hone that in into the locker room. But I think it's great because we have so many great leaders from all across the league who have won and we got Bobby Wagner in there. You know what I mean? I asked a hall of fame or so like, you know, being able to have kind of guys like that that you can lean on that can sometimes take over that leadership role where it doesn't fall on one person. I think it's extremely refreshing and knowing that everybody's on the same page and the message is the same allows you to go out there with confidence and always expect to know you. Terry, you seem to spend many of your off seasons learning about things beyond football, hobbies, what have you. Did you do any of this off season so far? It's a hobby to increase your knowledge of this the world around you. Let's see the question. Play a lot of golf. That day just keeps my competitive juices flowing.

Planning the wedding. That's going well. And I mean, I've just been grinding like, honestly, you know, I mean, I've been hungry this all season. Like, I started working out, you know, pretty early and you start to see guys like coming back and it's just fun to like to be here. And competing and feeling like everybody's on the same page, you know what I mean? And so for me, I'm a grind every off season, but just this one just feels like it's the start of something new and special. And the foundation of is extremely important and to be a part of that to have a hand in that. You know, it's an honor, you know, and I put a lot of expectation on myself to come out here and be the guy that I know I'm capable of. And also like taking the next step and being somebody that our quarterbacks that can trust and believe in. So this all season was pretty simple for me. It was just really about, you know, working and grinding and getting better.

He talked about Jayden before. And so far, I know we haven't seen everything. But in terms of his arm strength, the throws, he's making anything surprising so far about the types of his ability in that regard. And so, definitely, I think after the second or third crosser that he threw, I started telling receivers like, hey, you gotta get your head around. You know what I mean? Because again, each quarterback throws the ball differently and sees the field differently. So sometimes on crossers, a lot of quarterbacks may like to see you cross the ball and get into that open zone over there if it's a man flattened off. They like to see you get open with him. He has a really good anticipation over the middle of the field where he can make those throws and give you a chance to catch and run. He's really accountable too. We had to play the day where he felt like he missed me and it's not a big deal at all. You know what I mean? Him and I could talk to those things and there's been a play that I've talked to him about. I could do a better job. But again, that open form of communication from a rookie, I think is very rare. And I think it speaks to the confidence he knows who he is, but he's also not afraid to say when he's wrong. And he knows he needs room to improve.

But his touch on the deep balls is amazing. You know, I love getting extra reps after practice with him. We're just catching the topping of a deep ball. That's big for me. I get to track the ball over my shoulder and it's big for him to be able to get used to dropping the ball in the bucket. But he just naturally has an ability to throw the ball. He sees the windows really well. And now he's just continue to get adjusted to the speed in the past rush. He's, these reps that he's getting are unbelievable during 11 on 11 because he's getting to feel pain and all in and DA and Cleveland Farrow. We got some dogs up there who are going to come after him. You know what I mean? And we got some great guys up front who are going to protect them. And so these reps I feel like are even better than just 7 on 7. 7 on 7 I think he could do in the sleep to be fair. He throws the ball really well. But when you get this 11 on 11, 2-minute drill, you're putting them in game like situations. And I'm looking them in his eye. I'm like, we play a real ball now. We play him. You know what I mean? And you just see no anxiousness in his game and his demeanor, which is extremely exciting.

And then he's extremely lighthearted and he's always smiling. So he's joking with Lyme and D-Lyne. He's just cool with everybody. And like I said, for a rookie quarterback to come in like that where guys are gravitating to him and he's not afraid to be who he is, that's dope. I think he has a bright future for himself. The tough losses, the tough seasons can weigh on a player. You're entering the prime of your career. J.A. kind of mentioned it last year. All he cares about is winning. He wants to win now. Is there a sense of urgency? You obviously always want to win. Knowing that you're getting to the prime of your career, like you want to win now. Yeah, I think that's a fair question. I think you start to evaluate when you're six and you know how fast it goes. And I try not to put the cart before the horse were looking too far ahead. By the same time you do want to win. You want to be a part of a winning culture and have a chance to win the Super Bowl and the playoffs and all those things. That's why we do this personally. And I'm just excited with being a part of an organization in an environment where now like everybody's on the same page in the message is uniform.

And it speaks from the top down. And it reflects the guys that they're bringing in. All the guys that they brought in are guys who are hungry, who are competitors, who not only fighting for spots, but are going to help us win games. And when you're around an environment like that, that makes you excited, makes you hopeful. And you know, you don't know how it's going to turn out until we start playing games. But the foundation is extremely important. And I think this off season, we've really done a great job of building that. They have. And then when a coach Quinn guy here building with this team. So I feel like we're going to be going into this off season really knowing we all got to do individually become ready for camp. But the message is clear to come back to camp ready to compete and and be ready to win. Thanks, Derek. Appreciate you guys. Yeah, we should. One of the funniest guys on the team right now.

I think to talk about early in the week and trying to balance out, we're not getting too high on your motion. How does that motivation for you show up on an idea that basically is more preparation, more film? What does that look like for you? Yes, just really an edge and everything you do, I feel like. And carrying that kind of pissed off mentality. I mean, obviously not letting it affect you in a negative way. But making it remind you, hey, I'm going to go the extra entry. I'm going to see if I can find something extra on film late at night. I'm going to go over this sheet again, call the plays one more time. All these little things that I just, we just can't let that what happened last night happened again. We were only on this week and I was talking about how you played back here at Football. You tended to be playing in the Rose Bowl. You grew up in a big ten country. What does it mean to take part in this game? What does it mean to you? You kind of grow up now. It's a tell, man. It's crazy that God has blessed me and put me in this position to be here and be the quarterback in the Rose Bowl.

You know, a game that I grew up watching every single year. Some unbelievable games that I've watched in the Rose Bowl, some classics. And just to be a part of it is a blessing. And I think we're all humbled to be here. And we're all understanding of how unbelievable this opportunity is. And we're not taking it lightly because, you know, again, it's a business trip. And, you know, the only thing that we're looking at is, you know, we win this game. We go on and play in the top bowl. So, you know, it's really exciting. It's, you know, crazy that we're here and that we're a part of this. But, you know, can't let it be too big. And just, you know, got to go out there and play football. And I think, you know, you go back and watch the film. And, you know, I just didn't, you know, and I'm, I'm, I'm critical of myself. And I think we all are here. You know, but I just look at it. And I'm like, man, I don't think anyone this year beat us. You know, I think we beat ourselves every time.

And, you know, you watch and, you know, we had to turn over, you know, in our own 20-yard line. And they got the kick. You know, it's two possessions, it's kind of the first half. And then, obviously, the way the game ended, like, other, and we're still one point away. And that's what, what hurts, and it was a, you know, a hostile environment in their place. You know, I'm just, I'm just thankful that, you know, I said this, I said this the other day, I'm just thankful that we ended up. Do you feel like, you're looking back to two weeks ago, you've been to Tennessee, you feel like there's a confidence about this movie. It may be one, you know, a two-hour show, you know, you put it all together. Yeah. What is your sense of the team from that aspect? Does it feel a little bit different? Yeah, I think, you know, a game like that, you know, in sales conference, you guys, because it shows us we're capable of it. But you can't be complacency, and it can never be comfortability, it has to be confidence and drive. And that's what it has to, it merges to be like, man, like, we can do this. When we play at our best, I don't know if it was anyone in the country that can hang on us,

but we have to be on our game, and make sure that, you know, we can't let anything go. I love people taking those lessons. I love you, man. You're backing up about it. I'm a motion of this offense, which is a bit of a trouble. What do you think is the advantage of this offense? I just, you know, at the end of the day, I just want to keep the ball moving down the field, you know, getting in a rhythm, I think it's going to be big for us, and I think we did a really good job at that in the Tennessee game. We're weathering the storm a little bit early, and in the recall, early calls that we got the bell to sound in that game. And kept this going, but regardless, we kept the drive building. For me, keeping us on schedule, taking care of the ball, and making sure that we can hurt on third down in our situation, we get, you know, we do all that stuff. Obviously, for me, I want to beat these guys and drive the machine, because we got, when we're on our stuff, we're on our stop, so we just got to make sure that we finish our preparation, right? These last few days, and go out there and put our best reward.

Thank you for the time. Thank you guys. You come out this way. I'm talking about this, you know, just recently, talking about how what I want to do for the run was, I want to bring that home energy, the Hebrew, right? So last year, of course, I'm sure you've been doing it for years, but the year when I spent my own, he brought a lot of energy, excitement, happiness in the room, which is his natural energy, to where I had to focus on, you know, I didn't have to make sure other guys were, you know, and I was feeling some type of way when it came in here, because hump brought that. And I'm a humps not here, but I saw when you did for a room, I want to be that guy to make sure I was an amptical practice. Everybody's, I'm taking a field team on period, you know, until the low day, or something, you know, it's a different thing, but like, I want to make it feel like home time. I want to bring that, because that's what me and hump did to each other,

we would have each other do something to get locked, we're lit. So I want to do that, I want to bring that energy on, make, bring more guys. You know, should do that, you know? I want to do that from day one, you know, I kind of, I want to do that from day one, to talk to them, and obviously it's that time I spent in the offices of the Ford OTA started, just being in my self-just thinking about what the room needs, you know, because I know I, renewal as one of leaders, you know, on my offense, is that we need a guy like that is going to make sure the O-line is picked up, we're ready to go every day, those helicopter convoluted things are having a practice of people saying anything, and how I believe maybe different than somebody else may believe, you know, that practice at least like a legal positivity, you know, I mean so, but he, the energy yeah, would be on just, I would, I would be on, so I would kind of,

how would it be, go on on, ready my whole life, I would be on, I felt, team captain, like specifically on, I felt I wasn't a captain in high school, wasn't a captain in college, but I want to make a joke, I was in high school, so I feel like I'm not going to be a captain like he's that I felt, but that would be awesome, you know, but, you know, that happens, I'd be great, but not either way, I want to assume a role as a captain from the perspective of guys onto the visual world and get back in that way. Yeah, I mean I can't say that, I mean I guess the biggest thing is that I felt like I was, I felt like how you used to be in the past, but it didn't take just the first day, LTAs, it took training and left and right, once this season ended because I know what was going to be the journey. So, it took a lot of, yeah, grips, just to give back to feeling like myself,

what they want LTAs, and then now, hopefully, but now like today specifically, just changing some small things with my feet, that good thing, talking about the long coach, about some things that I'm doing my feet to get to that, to sell my traditional finger that I love to sit on, I thought I felt, I thought I felt great already, but I'm okay, I felt even better, I feel like I'm starting to work more excited tomorrow now, and get on my feet back, and how I like the right side, and on the left side, so on the side. I mean, obviously I feel like, you know, the league, whether I left the right, if you're still going against Premier Guy, so obviously, the high expectations for the left and the right tackle, but there's definitely, like, the level of energy, and like the expectations definitely take the human strength, because now tonight the blind side, that's the, that's the tackle world, you know, so, yeah, I would say in terms of communication as far as this, even outside of the facility, just stuff like that, like really creating that,

but in tackle quarterback, and bonding them off, I feel like that's something that's even cool, maybe, I got a text one day, and I said, hey, I think you put it left, and I was like, you know, yeah, I've been training both, I've been training both, you know, I asked after the season, they're like, honestly, you know, we'll talk to you in some way in the season, and I just got a text one, I think I'll have this with the free agency, then, so I was like, you know what, I had an overseas right tackle, so, if I get the word, I'm going, I'm standing right tackle, I'll just do what I did before, I'm building on that, but I was like, I might as well as train the left tackle now, as if we're going to be left tackle, and I'd rather do that than train the right tackle because I'm going to call it a left tackle, I'm like, who, how do I switch my feet? You know what I mean, so, I'm like, let me just prepare an advance, I'll say, yeah, let's go. I'm going to get occasionally on third down, there'll be a lot of twists, I was just not like, it's a automatic, it's a common,

and I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season, like, I didn't have to go once again with some pros, like, oh my gosh, they did that, I kind of figured, okay, like, this is the type of rush, I'm going to get, this is how this guy usually rushes, if I get the vibe, this is how he ends like the rush, you know, tackles that, you know, first year guys, we got the Premier patch on, you know, what it was going to be, you know, we'll be every stunt, and honestly, just knowing that's kind of an advantage to, so you're not, you're not, oh, the problem's with my side again, it was never air-dolphin, but it comes up when I was like, three plays in a row, two minutes, I knew that, it was going to happen, so, you know what I mean, so I'm watching more everybody else, and you rarely, you know, it goes out there occasionally on third down, I was like, you know, I was like, are you going to pick me? You know what I mean? So, that effect, it's kind of, it's also kind of an advantage of what, but it's also exciting, like, okay, I'm going to get the hardest to look, you know, those are real, real reps, you know, the things,

and really out on our way to kind of process, and I was like, hey, when I tell me, but let me know about what I'm going to train it, I was training all the way, so TAs, I guess if I didn't hear anything about TAs, I would have been cool training both continually, but I feel like anybody in any position will be like, okay, you want as soon as possible, you give your feet kind of subtle in, your hips subtle in, your hands, subtle in, certain kind of that. We've been hard of the age to work both very hard to you. No, you know, but they're definitely, but in terms of, you know, they're definitely, but in terms of the development, it's definitely a lot faster, they're staying on one side, but I think having that week that we had the transitional season was over, and it's like, it was fun, you know. It would, you know, we're trying to get up with it, but I'm not going to have any weak things at a time right now,

but when it comes back, I'm going to show them the one house, so I've got a house that's not too far from, so I told them, I got that house, I could yell outside. DJ. You know what I mean? So, yeah. My mom said, you know, just go out there, my dad just dominated the person outside front of me. You know, just do what I've been doing for the last two to three weeks, I should say. But, you know, they play Man on Man, so I'm just ready for the challenge. Yeah. I mean, feels good. Just say somebody going out there and playing Man on Man gets Ohio State receivers, it's something crazy. But, you know, we just ready for the challenge. They say they're not chasing their game plan, but we got to go out there and show them the reason why not the playman on Man. And then, uh, the reason they're out there, the month of 2016,

and somebody's not going right there. Sure, we're going to be the conversation. Yeah. Uh, I mean, I don't really, if I be on the curve, I be on the curve, I mean, it's not really a big deal to me. Um, it may definitely be a blessing for sure, just to be on the curve of a game, but, you know, it's not really a dream of mine. It's a dream of mine, but I don't really think too much of it. Yeah. Um, I mean, no, not yet. Probably hit me after this season, um, no, just, no, planning a call of football players as a freshman, uh, planning the roles, both as a freshman, um, planning a card in both, not an action table should, I mean, it's a blessing for sure, um, but I haven't hit me yet. Sure.

My favorite catch, I would say, when we play Michigan State, um, the one I call the two defenders, definitely probably my favorite for sure. Or you go, the one from Iowa, I should say, and the answer, probably them two. Sure. Uh, I don't, I mean, yeah, like you said, it's pretty frustrating me having a game that I had in the Rose Bowl. They're coming to the Cardin Bowl, you know, just them, uh, doing different things, chasing their scheme up for, uh, against me. Um, but I mean, like you said, whatever I could do to make, I mean, have to team win. Uh, it's not really a big deal for me, and long as we win, that's all I really care about, and then you gotta set that to your championship. Right here.

Uh, it means a lot, uh, we put a lot of work in this, uh, this is it. Uh, we have, how's we have loads, uh, we have people cutting us out, um, but we hear now, we just ready to put on a show Monday. Oh, yeah. Uh, first of all, the first win is, uh, not championship, because that means a lot. Um, you see everything I he bent through this year? People, uh, saying you should be fired, and there's that in the third, but, uh, I mean, you see everything I he bent through this year? I mean, I see everything I he bent through this year, and I see everything people saying about him on Twitter. Um, I wasn't here, uh, he first got the head coach and job, but I know this year, for sure,

we definitely got to win this for him. I mean, it's a lot a lot of people in the lead. I should say I can't really say who but I mean you had guys like oh there you had guys like Oh, there you have step-fart digs. It's a lot of Michael Tom is Chris Carter just a lot of no guys I played in NFL and stuff like that, but yeah, really them guys for sure No, just keep going you got it you next up for sure really I really that Like a physical defense like like you said like people say like they like to play man. They're not changing their scheme So we're just ready for the challenge like you said probably the best deepest we probably go see all year and we just gotta be ready to go out there Monday and just put on the show

I'm excited for will him first coming here in Ohio State January our first workout we had together Me just everything that we built through the season Me I'm just happy for him the business musician right now, but we got a finance job and that's the winning idea Monday I mean it's pretty funny Them saying that because I'm just only a freshman, but I miss a place for sure people to even say that but I got two three more years left of college and I'm just focus on college right now. I'm not really worried about the NFL right now It's very special for me just being a freshman at the National Stage like a peer for national titles something that I dreamed of as a very young kid

I'm just happy to be here, and I just can't wait to put on some Monday for you guys I mean all the receives we were just sitting on the bench and we just see him hit the quarterback the ball come on and we all just got up and just started no jumping up and down We all excited happy for jacking that moment. We just knew that that moment like you know, let's we're going to the daddy for sure I mean it shows a lot me no going from high school or winning three-state championships I saw my mama Donna then you know coming to Ohio State just appear for national title right now

Me just so that I put two great schools, but I'm happy to be here and I just came with the bonus on Monday The coolest person I mean you got a lot I can't really say just a specific person you got a lot of great guys Reach out and leave like oh, they're you have guys like step on the eggs a lot of other places will just get cut of my mom But really really them to guys for sure. Oh, they're a step on this Yeah, yeah I mean like they say they play man, so I'm just ready for the challenge and just get ready to go out there Monday and just no put them so Thank you

The vice-geno had gave me I Just keep going first You I know the reason why I'm here Me like he said just keep golfers and just no keep the maintenance and the best corner I face this year I mean I face a lot of great corners. I can't really say but yeah, I face a great daughter confidence I starter

uh... basketball purchased But I mean I doubt they come out there and try to put to me and they say stick it to whatever doing our year and that's playing man coverage which is ready for the challenge. Pretty good group Christian Gary 29th, the great corner 15, Lenard Moore, two great guys all right there very physical but you know we all have to receive it so we ready for the challenge. I'll say just no understanding the defense, understanding the game plan, understanding what Coach Kelly is trying to get done. I mean just coming in I felt I progressed from our first

game against Akron to now for I got better each and every week. I mean being slowed down a lot for me but yeah really just no understanding the versus and no understanding what they're trying to do to me for sure. I'm two guys great probably the best we go see all year for sure. Two physical guys but you know we're ready we're ready for the challenge that they're coming with and that's the play man oh man and you know we ready to go on my day. I mean the environment is pretty crazy seeing all these cameras. Something I never thought I'd see their my life but it's a blessing for sure this is the business position right now.

I mean we just had a prayer prayer prayer prayer meeting and you know we all they all just we all discussed the issues because they discussed these issues and you know we just want the work I mean not two and a half weeks we had off before Tennessee game and we just came out there Tennessee game and we played with a chip on our shoulder all throughout the playoffs and we go continue to play with that chip on our shoulder and that's championship on Monday. Do you know how that very impactful yeah the very impact on my career I should say you know just going to his games as a very young kid seven eight years old him playing Westman Westman's year and they played Clemson Orange Bull down at Miami. I mean just going to just seeing his games it's like yeah I definitely want to play on his stage and I can't wait till I get to know that moment for sure. There are you. I

was there because they really just in his own his own little space he's just walking around trying to get his mind right trying to get his mind ready for the game but you know he just gave everybody hype in the locker room and you know just trying to get us ready to go to win the game. Yeah. Oh yeah oh yeah for sure I mean you go play man against Ohio State receivers I mean just be ready because you know we definitely go come out there and know give our best and I mean they said not go change what they do so which is ready for the challenge. Not a year later definitely sometime my career in college but not my first in college I should say I mean just the better the being this position right now is you know a blessing or just a

yellow cube from Miami to be here and I won't take it for granted I'm ready to go out there and give him a round. Yeah. Yeah. I mean I was watching that game against was it Georgia? I blew it yeah. I was watching that game. I was pretty sick myself because I was actually committed at that time. So I mean yeah they left a bad test name off but I mean we ready to go out there Monday to redeem myself and they'll just put a show Monday.

Oh I mean me I just laughed but you know that's what they do they're not gonna change what they do just because you were Ohio State so when you got to go out they're putting no putting no why not to play man no man it gets us so when you got to go out there show Monday. Can you say the game I'm sorry. My journey here at Ohio State repaired me a lot from National Championship me just going through everything that I've been through my first guy here all the Matt Jules all the hard workouts that we had all the hard practices um just prepare all of us for this moment and I'm just ready to go out there and give it up my all on Monday. Okay okay yeah we just squeezed this

yeah one or nine 200 me is big and strong yeah yeah I go let's do some what's 20 that lets me trust you they I don't want to be like this here.

I don't want to be like this here. Like the last two. Uh, and why not probably like the most is the one against Michigan State when I caught up a two defenders on air saw line. Put it out one or the one after that, I should say or you go to the one against Iowa. Put it in three. Partly my best ones, for sure. I mean, just will put in the ball in my area and I just know how to make a play for them. Even though somebody was grabbing my face, I just know I still have to make a play because the ball touched my hand. So, I mean, just when the ball is the other thing, I have to make the play no matter how the ball comes at me. After a big game, I mean, we really, they really feed us Chick-fil-A or piece out of the game. So, it's really either Chick-fil-A or piece. So, yeah, probably Chick-fil-A for sure.

Yeah. It went pretty good. Everybody just speaking with their thing is going right in what they think is wrong. We just a lot of the older guys, what's in their opinions on what we need to do to cut the get out of the team. But, you know, that me and definitely helped us in a big way because it helped us on the field as well because we played our great football right now and we just got to tune out on Monday. Yeah, definitely got emotional. Can't really say what it really was said because that's not players only and coaches only, but it was definitely some stuff said that people took and they went with it and that's the reason we were outweigh playing right now. Yeah, make help me a lot this year. Him being our older

guy in the room. Me and Carl are in the end as well and Brendan are all the guys in the other field as well. Me just a great guy as well. Very smart. I mean, make just been a big part of the reason that I'm having to see that I'm having a well because he's been a big, you know, older guy been there, been a lot of great guys in that room like Chris Aliveve, Gary Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr. Jackson, Nick Mjubel. So he's seeing all the greats I've been through there and me teaching us the right thing and the right way and the buck out way for sure. I love it. That means they don't know what's coming out of the next. We got 12 personnel, 11 personnel. You can throw two of us in and throw one of us in and you gotta stop it all. What have you made of the quarterback? Not too much. I feel like they all come in here working. I feel like everybody's making their doughs, making their pads and everybody making their directions. When did you take away the last season? I feel like it's been a long time. What did you take away from last season? I just gave a warning. When the next game, that was it. When the next game go out there on Saturday, beat the men in front of you,

and then came out with a national championship on the bench. The strict laws about improving the individual when you work on this. I'm talking about everything I'm trying to do my game as well as playing spirit. I'm trying to come up to fit it on. We hear about either the key roles, not just for this group, but for the team. You should get a step up who has started to step up and realize that place. I feel like we've had leaders from last year that came back. I feel like we got new guys that stepped up into their roles and their roles and around the team that have become leaders. Being a leader, you all always have to be vocal. You can have the same examples on the field. Or you can be vocal, or do both. What was it like to say about the boys that last couple of years, looking back? I was happy for Gia. I saw her crying and I saw her crying and getting an extra work. Her ball is ball. We come out here and play ball. He's out here doing a pro day yesterday. I just see them ready to make some real money.

What place do you feel like you're a different player now going into this year? Maybe you were last year. I feel like every year I've just improved on my overall game. Blocking and catching, just system wise. People used that word. But I feel like I'm just overall better. I came in here ready to go. How much does it push you when you're in a room with guys like Max and Will and that you know you've got to be on your game if you're going to get in the field? I feel like I start by iron every day. You come in and work and they go push me every day to work. It's just like I'm a do-do. I've been asked this before. It's now crowded room. You got Max first. What's your grade? I love Maul. I love Max. Max Claire. Max LeBlanc. Both of them. What's your flashed any time? Is this the year worth it all come to the other half? I feel like every year was my year. But hey, you know see this year I'm ready to come out here and put on a show for the Bug-Out Nation. I feel like everybody on the field is ready to go put on a show.

We're trying to go back and back. You got to play quite a bit though last year, Tulane. What did you pick up from all of that especially in a championship run? You know they were counting on you. Honestly just be ready at any time. Honestly you can be throwing in at any time. Just like I was. I probably had some rest while I was just throwing in. You got to get it done. And if you don't get it done, they're going to find somebody who has to do it. I think we asked you this every time. It's huge on the right side. We're definitely seeing what you've progressed. It hasn't tied in all of that needs. Honestly, over the spring and some of this I feel like I've told them I've been doing it. I feel like I've told them I've body a lot. And I got stronger in the weight room. I've also got a little bit faster so I can get in another break. And just the mind part of the game. The middle part of the game. If you got even better in the end, how would you describe that? You said it again. The mind part of the game. Well, I feel like it's a lot more fun.

I say the tight ends become here. Five o'clock every other day. We'll do a walkthrough, more fun. Which is more students of the game now. We're like that. Thanks. You're welcome. I'm good. What's your score? You're in Bobo. It's like five o'clock. What do you remember about that block? I feel like it was just a exciting play. I was the last read on it. Like the very last read on it. I don't go out. I came down with the cast. I'm going to do the first down. You're, but I still had a great rookie year. Six yards of carry. I think it was nine touchdowns. Ten, including the playoffs. There's always been like, all right. You guys let me show my talent. Shining a little bit. Even when I had the knee. I had the knee, right? A lot of people don't know. I didn't get hurt again whenever I got cleaned up. I went down in 21, right? Had the injuries. The knee injury. Then came back later the next year.

I played the first few games. There was a lot of scar tissue in there. I didn't get hurt again. I could have played the whole year. I got it cleaned up so I can feel like me. After I got that cleaned up, the first two games back from the injury I had over 120 yards rushing. Then went on. Had great, great ending of the year. 100 total yards in the play-out game. We lost, which I hate the most. Styles don't matter. I want to win. But then come back the next year. Heard again. Like 20 killies. Two really unfortunate injuries. But that's just a guy's plan. I think that the storm is now over. I do think that I'll be able to shine a light to the whole world. Are you concerned that you have that label? I can't stand it. I could care less. Because I knew this out there. As it should be. I got hurt two major injuries. Not back to back years.

I haven't been on the field as much as I should. That's true. That is true. But it's not like I'm having these little dinky injuries and sitting out. It's something I can't control. Literally. That's why I'm not bothered by it. Yeah, I am injury-pone. You can say that. But I do think that the chargers are getting a guy that's going to be healthy from now on. You know, God will it. And it's going to be great. And I do think that it's going to be a great however many years here. When you've been on the field, you've been highly productive. Yeah. 5.8 hours of very average for your career. Like knowing that when you're out there, you're very productive. How much confidence does that give you that really all you need is an opportunity? All the confidence in the world. You know, the way I work. I want to say just from the numbers. But just the way I work. My work ethic, you know, and my relationship with Jesus is like I have the most confidence when I step out there because I do know like if he grants me the health, it's over with.

I don't think I'll be, you know, I think it'll be a great year or whatever. A couple of years. However many years he grants me great health, you know, and I think just the work ethic, my prayer and all that stuff, that's what helps me have that confidence. With the numbers will be there and they might be higher after this year. You know, it's crazy to think about it because I had six point yards per carry. You know, so we'll see. You've been in Florida running behind this line, is this the case? Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, I play with Bradley. I play with him, you know, I know Slater. I know all the guys, you know, and I'm excited. I think it's like I said earlier, it's a talented group. You know, we just got put together and win some games because that's why I came through for it. Justin, are you part of the year or? I would say part of the recruitment, but like whenever I decided I was going to sign it, it was great to have him in the room. Yeah, we're great. We have a great relationship. That's like my brother.

I think it complements each other very well. You know, he can do a lot of stuff too. You know, a lot of people think he's just power power power, but I think he has some other parts that we've gained too, which it'll be great because I feel like I could do everything. And when one gets tired, we can roll it in and keep rolling. Win some games. When you, the two of you is going, how do you think that's going to look? The work will be that partnership that's back there. I know. That's a hard question. How do I think it'll look beautiful? You know, a lot of people call this a passive league, but I think you got to run the ball to win a Super Bowl. You know, if you look at the teams who win the Super Bowl, they can run the ball. They can control the clock. And so if we're both good, it'll look great. Beautiful. I would describe it as a great offense. I think he gives a quarter.

He's going to give the quarterback a lot of options. He's going to give the running back a lot of options. He's going to give the receiver a lot of options. I think it's going to be great. He's often going to be amazing. When we talked to him, I was like, why are you going to build something good for us in offices throughout your career? Whichever way you can. And you said that one part of it is just, you got to call the place. You got to call it on the place. As we're running back, how much confidence, how much you say it is to give you a play collar that's going to stick with it and allow you and the offense blind to you to a rhythm of the ground. It gives me a lot of excitement. It's going to be, like I said, it's fun to play his offense. And I think he does have some good things in the pass game too. But like you said, he sticks with the run and that's the identity. You want an offense that has an identity, right? You're going to be looking everywhere else to find your identity. You want to have it. And so I think his offense has that. And if he builds and puts in there, it complements that identity.

So I think it's going to be great. You mentioned you're 100% now. So you mean full goal or training? That's the expectation. Well, I ain't going to answer any of the four. If it's up to me? Yes. Look, because I had this problem like two years, three years ago. I'm thinking I'm full goal. I think I'm ready to go. And then next year you know I'm on PUP. Like, hey, look, some stuff is above my pay grade. But I don't know. Hopefully I can start. I think I'm ready to start, you know, at the beginning of training camp. But that's not up to me as I've learned. I wouldn't say that. I think I've been in some great organizations. And I think this organization is a great organization. And the training staff is great. And so they just want what's best for me, you know. And they're taking care of me, which that's what you want in an organization. And so that's where that comes from. Which I appreciate it.

Like I really appreciate it. You know, because I'm a type of guy like I work really hard. So maybe sometime I'm blind to, you know, the danger of something, you know. So I appreciate it. But like I said, if it's up to me, yeah, I'm out there. But never know. Well, any frustration for you during the getting into pre-agency, you know, I feel it would be a lot of, you know, I have a lot of full season of hate. There's a production deal out there. Is there any part of that where you're like, I wish I had it for the market. With a different situation, you know. I like it. I like how would I say this? I like it the hard way. But not, you know, I like it the hard way. I like it. I like trial and tribulations. So, I mean, the dice that I was giving to Roll was I was coming off a third Achilles. And that was the Lord's plan.

So it was beauty in that. I was comfortable. I was caught like there was multiple teams, you know, I wasn't, it wasn't like I didn't have any other team. But I was comfortable in sitting back and just enjoying the process, letting myself get fully healed. So whenever that team whoever I would sign with, who now is the Chargers, is going to get the best me, you know. And I think people all around the league know that like, okay, this guy, okay. It's a high risk, high reward type thing, right? Not even a high risk, low risk because you, it's a business, right? So I got hurt last year. So not as much money that he's be throwing in there. But I think everyone around the league knows that whenever I am on the field, the numbers don't lie. And so they know that and a lot of teams will like, are here. You can, we give you this, but we want you to be healthy. So when I'm healthy, it's going to be great. There's the chance that I've been giving here. I'm so grateful and I know that's going to be, they won't be, they won't regret it.

Are you the type of person that likes to throw people wrong? Like you've done a couple things like a high risk, high reward, injury from, you know, like are you the type of person that really tries to throw people wrong? No. I hear it. I see it. It's pretty cool. Like you'll never see me unless I'm just like in a bad mood. You never see me like, oh, like if I have a great game or a great year, like I have this wonderful year, I ain't going to go back and, you know, like, yeah, yeah, what happened? No, because I don't care. Like you're eventually see like I'm like, I'm a guy that's really good. So I ain't worry about that, but I'm proving myself right that I am one of the best in the league. Right? So forget all the naysayers and people will talk about being injury prone because whenever I have this great year, it's going to be forgotten, you know? Why, why give that energy? Talking just into the all our chance to be in the all year.

Yeah, I was, you know, we just wouldn't, you know, he's a great guy. I mean, he was in my class. I remember seeing him, we were at an award show because I was a dope walker, a finalist. And I'm like, I've seen him play, but I didn't know he was that tall. Like I didn't know he was like six, six. So when I first saw him, this was years ago in college. And I'm like, damn, this is me tall. Like, it's cool though. Like I never really got to, I ain't going to lie. I thought it was going to be kind of, you know, nerdy, way is cool though. Very laid back. No offense to him. It's just because like the last three years, it's been disappointed at the end of the season. So I feel like we put more work in, I feel like that's what we're missing. We're just putting more work in. And you just got to do that throughout the summer, the spring, the fall. And then you just got to show it on the field. Tell the guys just ask, Jack. And then you take a, you're still in a mold, you're a practice. And you look at it through all of the deep fits. And you look at the person L-chains, we're able to come in with Sunday moving up in the post-war line of spring.

With all the guys in the pitch coming back. What's your, like, view of what's out there on deep fits? And how it may be a biology to do some things to be in view? It's kind of just like, I don't want to like, hype our heads too much. But I kind of look like a legendary defense kind of. I feel like we got playmakers everywhere. And then moving Sunday down, I think that's a great move for him. You know, he's a big athletic dude. He can play in a box, he can play in like safety. I think that's just showing him how like, versus how he is. And Caleb, you know, you've seen Caleb how he plays. He's an animal. He's only a sophomore, I think. And I feel like the guys we brought back, you know, we all can, we're all dominant. So I feel like as a collective unit, we're going to be like unstoppable. So confident is a problem? No. Well, there's a part of that too. And as I mentioned, they're about pacing themselves. Like if you get, there's that much self-believe, then there's also that part of going to build depth. You know, in case you have interest, case you have vision. So how do you look at spring in terms of getting the guys that are next in line as prepared to keep that standard high?

I think you just got to set a great example for the young guys. And just showing them how to, how to practice, how to like watch them, how to take care of their body. Because those are the things you're going to need to like go on this deep run and think it's like 17 games or something. They were not. We add in games. So the young guys are going to have to play. We can't just play fit the games and snap. That's not going to happen. So. He's going to keep working. Kind of keep running. Give me shape. You played so many things. You know what's kind of surprised me that you said that. You said that. It was a joke I'm sure. But like, you know, surprising to hear that from you. It's a really company snapshot. You know, last year. Did that kind of take a toll on your last year? Do you think that you need to push it even further getting better shapes so you can play all 16, 17 games? Yeah, definitely. I got to get way better shapes than I've been. And I felt like it was kind of like it was a joke.

Of course, I needed those snaps because the years before I wasn't really playing as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been going a lot. One of those younger guys we're seeing it out here. It's the first time I've heard all of your last years. What you've seen from Lill. Because I kind of felt like last year we all forgot about it because he was hurt. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man out behind you and you tied. What have you seen you remember those games? Well, it was a workhorse. He, he's going to stay quiet. He's going to work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's just going to get the job done. Do a job right. Rarely has any mistakes. So what, what would be a successful season? A national championship? I'm running when all the games we want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. That mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so. You guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like enough is enough.

Does that feel a difference or is there not really any difference? It's just the same word. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go, go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home. So it's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute, right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys won a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's kind of coach makes a saying. You know, nobody cares. Work harder. Like those, you know, one plate Georgia is the same thing. Last, last play. You know, they went on the winning ad. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that?

You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working hard. But then you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. And I thought freshman year I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. If the stamina is a 16, then the answer is like, what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny. But I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. But it's kind of, uh, the idea of a potential is 16 or 17 or 17.

I mean, I've got that idea. Does it make you nervous about? Can you last that long? Or maybe you're worried? I think I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody's like, we got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D-line and O-line and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of that, did you like playing that new snap again last year? I don't know if any of us were really expecting that next time. Uh, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a lot. Uh, I thought like, there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games, like, you know, Notre Dame 2 or North, those kind of games. Of course I wouldn't be in because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald is he got the kick. Have you guys ever seen him? Oh yeah, definitely.

K-Mac is a K-Mac animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work, I think. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th or you're 3.27, he's 3.26. Yeah, he's a real good player. I kind of look at him like my junior, but, you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get the playbook. So really a lot on you, older guys. There's that large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We've got to be leaders. Like I said, we've got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They've got to get in there and get some work. And we've got to get them right, burn the off season. So they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like make plays, tackle the sex. Let's stay together. It seems like these guys get bigger. Each one of the freshmen class is bigger and bigger.

And those guys kind of, those are going to kind of why you want to solve the first. Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too. I'm a pas on, but throughout the workouts, they've been working hard. You know, they're determined to actually do that. It looks like they're ready to work with me. I'm important to this. It feels like, you know, because a lot of great defense is that you have big, athletic defensive tactics who can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? That is that. Does that have an environment maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some balls, but also have great feet? I think that is definitely, I think if you look at the last couple of national champions and winners, team of Northe, you know, they got two good detacles, two athletic detacles, they're Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about that, they're going to fight by the defense attack. It's like, what's Georgia? Jordan Davis and Jeff Carter.

Let's miss you again. It's Chris Jenkins. Tell us more questions about it. How, I mean, you understand it, because you play it. I feel like some time I don't know, are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving forward to 478s and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakies, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch it come on. I watch these dude the drills. I have tape here. You're like, you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all those guys. Do you become like a artist or a band of guys? I think your legs can't be clean. When you're going, you're not doing as much a weapon on the left hand.

That's strong. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal? I don't remember how many you have last year. You have a goal. How many do you want to have? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that. But I think they've counted. I think they've counted some of them. And it's some of them where I like just missed it. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that goes big and what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter of that is. Any way you can is just great for the defense. That little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So, it's something that you really, really have to work on. You have to do that. It's a theory that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You could bring your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Oh, that passed me just two times. We don't have to ask for this. I don't know if we're kind of kind of expected for something like this. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he just throws it to me.

I don't know. I'm your teacher, do you want to be a high school or a Mexican? I'm in a bad dumb pass. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. Yeah. Eight time to grow, you know, you don't have to have the pig mentality of problem of instant gratification, you know, you can develop and grow. So, and sometimes you may be behind a guy that's a really good player. There's nothing wrong with developing and growing and playing when your time is right. And if the time is right right now, the freshman, like what's your name? Did you play early, you know? So we try to also sell that, you know, we care about him as people and try to prepare you for life after football. So it's bigger than just football. We're going to prepare you for life. Whether it's the NFL or on with a regular career in the workforce. We want you to prepare you as a young man and we try to sell that and preach that to the parents. With Germany having that impact, you mentioned, rolling all these different spots. Do you anticipate, you know, there wasn't a lot of rotation among the cornerbacks last year when everyone was healthy.

Do you anticipate maybe rolling him through the rest guys here with the longer season potentially? Yeah, we play it by ear. You know what I mean? We see how goals by time we get in the camp, but you know, obviously he's earning his stripes. So, you know what I mean? You earn your stripes, you know, a large opportunity for you. You know what I mean? We have to see how it goes with all the other stuff, you know, once we get closer to the season. And we're getting the game plan stuff, but he's doing a great job and he's taking a great step forward. Tim, when you're the way that you've been building the room, or the way you kind of establish your room now, it seems like it's been like centerpieces, kind of relationships, and kind of building bonds. And I'm curious, is that something that you came in with the, like a couple years ago, with the intention of doing it, or is it something that you're like, that's kind of been cultivated over the course of your Thomas position, coach here in the guy's room? No, it's been there for a while. I've been doing that for a long time. It's all about relationship. If you develop real relationship and you're authentic in your communication, and you have honest feedback, and you have direct teaching, the guys that have value and character and they appreciate that stuff, they're embrace that.

So, but they have to know you care, and you have to know that it's real, and they have to know that you're really concerned about there where it being as a young man. And when you get close to them, it's been a lot of time with them off the field. You could coach them hard. And you can say truthful things to them, and then they embrace it, and you can have real conversation, because you know, the only goal is to help them get better as a young man. Yeah, it's them balanced up a little bit now. That goes with great competition. We go against the best receivers in college football. So, that helps escalate your growth process, because if you don't figure it out real fast, you're getting embarrassed. So, that competition, but what happened with that, I guys start competing. I guys start growing. I guys got better, and now it's even up a little bit. So, where you get really good work at practice today, you know what I mean? So, as competitive, it's fun. Those guys both on both sides of all care about each other.

So, it's great competition, and they all are real close. So, you know what I mean? It's that stuff that gets us better, that will prepare us for Saturday. I just didn't know how to do that same idea. So, the first day of practice actually, the receivers kind of got them, because I didn't kind of... But the wake-up call made me feel this... I know, it's just competitive, man. They got the best group in the country that you're going against every day. So, you have to bring it every day, you know what I mean? So, we got a great quarterback room, we got a great receiver room. The running backs are really good, so when you out there going against them is deep. So, you have to be ready for it. And obviously, man, we're seeing a lot of good stuff with Stay in Coach Kelly doing over there, and so it prepares you a lot, and it helps us grow. So, why don't you go into your room and play an advantage of your recruiting victory? Is that... Why don't you go into your room, kind of, a part of your recruiting? These are the guys you get to play against. Yeah, all of that, because you know, that's where you get better. Iron Shop is iron. So, you know, you get to see that every day of practice that helps you grow.

It's no better thing to go against every day than to see that. On a daily basis. I'm also near room massage drawer, looking at to play that. We just move a lot of guys around. We watch our practice, we have a lot of guys in there right now. You know, we pop out, there are four different guys in there. Obviously, Lorenzo's in there, Germaine's in there, Caleb. Miles, we have about four or five guys moving around. Right now, we just try things out in Spring Ball. See what it fit, you know, see what things work together. So, there's probably some more guys in there. You know, we move it around and try to just get the right fit throughout the N and C. How it goes by time, we get really start to season. What's your out of how to count and see what's in the card? He can run any strong. You know what I mean? He's fast. Very serious about his business. He's big, he's 200 pounds. He can run, he's strong, he's conscientious. You know what I mean? He's starting to grow and he's starting to get better with it. You know what I mean? So, we look for big things for him in Spring. Tim, what do you want to see from here in Spring? Keep competing. You know what I mean now? He's made the transition competing today. You know what I mean? Start going in. That transition is all just like Germaine last year.

You throw him in the fire, you let him go, you compete. You go by time we get out of the end of training camp. You'll be them figured out. Yeah, I want that. But now you just throw it all at him. Come compete. Continue to grow, continue to learn. He has the skill set, he has the length. Now you just got to put it all together and it takes time to do that. And hopefully you see that by time we get into training camp. It seems like a bit with your spring and kind of click for your main last year. And you start to see and perform a little better in practice. Is that like a benchmark for where you want here? It's going to be by the middle of spring because you have to be in a certain point where you want it to start clicking. Yeah, by the time you start getting about two weeks from now, that last week. You know, because it takes time because there's a lot of stuff going on. By the time you get into that last week of spring ball, you'll look to start seeing the things that you look for show up. And then you get another evaluation again. We'll get into training camp. See if this stuff carried on to make sure we go for starting in September. What's your assessment of growth? What do you like about him and that nickel spot? He's very conscious of inches. He's smart.

He can run. He's tough. He's made the adjustment because he's out of Europe on his belt. So now you can see he's not making a lot of mistakes. He competes. He's real conscious of inches. And he has a physical presence. So the growth has been really good and we look to continue that throughout spring. Coach, thank you very much. My class one more. All the guys that came back like Denzel, the great example. Was that surprised you as you reflect on all these guys that came back late to the ransom? That could have turned pro. No, the culture here is real. Coach, they does a great job of building the culture. Our room is close knit. The guys on defense are real close. Those guys want to come back. They have an agenda. You know, we want to come back. They want to come back and walk away with something. So it didn't shock me. But it's a good environment for them too. You know what I mean? That's when you see those guys come back. That's a testimony to the culture that's set here. That's the brotherhood, the environment. And of course, they run the program for those dudes to want to come back. Because we go at it. It's hard. It's not easy. It's not easy. What we do. So in fact, they come back and do that.

It's a testimony to how he runs the program. Coach, thank you very much. As far as intensity, how would you evaluate, I think, a dinged early on? How would you evaluate your games, mate? Yeah. My goal was just to come out play as hard as I could. It was a little weird last week for the first time in my career playing a game that doesn't necessarily mean anything in terms of playoff contention. And I kind of had to check myself. And this week come in with a mindset of every game matters. And we need to put the best product out there that we can. And that's what I try to do. Later, now it's the push. Or you looked at the public and you worked with the push, and you worked with the push, and when you retired, you did seem shaken up right after you kind of just talked about what happened. Yeah, Sam just tried to get on it and caught me. It was more of like a stinger clip thing, but the ref wanted me to go to the tent.

So I had to go answer some questions. Founding your helmet? It was like jammed, yeah, my neck. You're helmet. I know that you've got a sort of a different helmet. Help to you. Yeah, maybe when it hits the top like that, it's not as good. Probably these guys 11 months ago kind of crushed their dreams. Do you get the sense they're kind of a different team? And also that they, this was a very important game for them to win? I don't think they're that different. I think they've had a ton of injuries on defense, which hurts them. But the mentality of the head coach, you could see it throughout everybody. It's really a cool team. I could just see from afar that it's probably a fun team to play for. And they come out and they play to win every game and I respect that. I've put so much emphasis on the ball, all meetings and takeaways. And I think you've got two since the by-week.

Is there any accounting for that? I mean, there's so many different things that go into a turnover or takeaway. How do you wrap your brand around? It goes into every level of the defense. When you have your opportunity, I know we had two against Stafford. That could have made, I mean, maybe if we get those, it sparks a bunch of other ones. So you just have to make your, make your plays when they're there. And then just be in, be in the right spots. And I don't think we've done a great job of that this year. The last side goes into the night. The soul is all pro. Did you want that matchup? Would you think about that matchup? It's good. He's a really good player. And yeah, I wanted to see where I'm at against him. Have you ever seen anything like the Jameson Williams touchdown or his pop act to him? Have you seen something like that? I was in the tent, so I had no idea that happened.

It was a play in this game when we saw a kind of a misdirection sprinted all the way across the field to make the play. Did you see the play? I think it was, was it the one Gibbs cut back? Yeah. Yeah, I had like a 10-yard cushion and he ran by me like I was, didn't exist. And I tried to sprint and I just was like, I don't have this. And thankfully, Mustafa is a heat seeking missile and he made the play. Did you know what your mindset tonight was? What was your mindset against man? I mean, I didn't have the game. It took us. I mean, I think we came in with the right mindset as a team. Just myself. It felt a little like dead energy wise. But yeah, it was a learning, a moment for me to learn and make sure that I come in with the right mindset every single week.

There's a lot of plays where you guys get to the finals, pass breakups, and it'll be like a couple plays in a row. And then there's an excellent stuff about what can you put your thoughts on about the ecosystem? Yeah, I mean, we did get them to the second, third and longs. And then yeah, they would make a big play. You definitely want to capitalize when you back them up like that. We didn't do that tonight and that's why they scored 40 points. I'm sure, yeah, I'm sure. Oh, yeah, for sure. You had guys like Chris Carter, guys like Michael Thomas really knew two guys for sure. I mean, Michael Thomas was talking to me before the game with a Rose Bowl in Chris Carter and after the game as well.

Just giving me advice, just telling me to keep going first and just keep doing what I've been doing the whole year. I mean, I'm got bugger alleged so definitely look at them guys for sure. Make sure to spare. It means a lot. Just to care for Miami, just be able to play an actual championship as a freshman, something that I dreamed of as a kid. And I'm here now and there's K-rated K can't wait to put on show Monday. He said he got the. I mean, the Tissues know like he says, made crazy each and every week playing, but you know, can't. Can't let it get to my head. I should say, let me just football at the end of the day, but you know, just happy business.

Yeah, I can't. Oh, none of us think we could be covered, man, no man. I mean, we're actually talking about this yesterday as well, but you know, I mean, that's what they do. That's what they do. Maybe we just got God there, you know, play our game and know sort of reason why not to play man. Two. Four. Three. One. I go five. It's fair. The ball.

My mom said, you know, just go out there Monday. Just dominate the person I said, front of me. I'm just going to do what I've been doing for the last two to three weeks, I should say, but you know, they played man on man. So I'm just ready for the challenge. I mean, feels good. Just say somebody going out there and play man on man gets Ohio State receivers. It's something crazy. But you know, we just ready for the challenge. But we got to go out there and show them the reason why not to play man on man. Yeah. I mean, I don't really, if I be on the cover, I'd be on the cover. I mean, it's not really a big deal to me. It may definitely be a blessing for sure just to be on the cover of a game, but you know, it's not really a dream of mine. It's a dream of mine, but I don't really think too much of it. Yeah.

I mean, no, not yet. Probably hit me after this season. No, just no playing in the colors football playoffs as a freshman, planning the roles both as a freshman, planning a card and both, not in the national championship. I mean, it's a blessing for sure, but I haven't hit me yet. My favorite catch, I would say we played Michigan State the one I caught with two defenders, definitely probably my favorite for sure. Or you can go the one from Iowa, I should say, and then answer, probably then two. Sure. I mean, yeah, like you said, it's pretty frustrating me having a game that I had in the

Red Bull. Like you said, whatever I could do to make it, I mean, hug the team when it was not really a big deal for me, as long as we win, that's all I really care about. and you gotta set it up for the championship. I know. I know. I have to work hard to get a good team and work in our group for the team. There's a lot of work going on here. I have to work hard to get a good team. I have to work hard to get a good team. I have to work hard to get a good team. It means a lot. We put a lot of work in this season. We have highs, we have lows. We have people cutting us out. But we hear it now. We just read it and put on a show Monday. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh.

Uh. First of all, when there's a national championship because there's a lot. You see everything that he's been through this year. People say he should be fine. There's not a third. I mean I see everything I've been through this year, see everything, people saying my head on Twitter. I wasn't here, he first got the head coaching job but I know this year for sure we definitely got to win this for him. I mean it's a lot of people in the league I should say, I can't really say who but I mean you had guys like Odele, you had guys like Odele, you had Stephard Diggs, it means a lot of my good Tom is Chris Carter, just a lot of guys I played in NFL and stuff like that but yeah really them guys for sure. No just keep going, you got it, you've netstumped for sure, really I really like for sure.

Oh like physical defense, like people say they like to play man, they're not changing their skin so we're just ready for the challenge, like you said, best defense we probably go see all year and we just gotta be ready to go out there Monday and just put on the show. I'm excited for Will, him first coming here in Ohio State January our first workout we had together, just everything that we built through this season, I'm just happy for him to be in this season right now but we got a fitness job and that's the winning at the Oman Day.

I mean it's pretty funny them saying that because I'm just only a freshman but I mean it's a blessing for sure people to even say that but I got two or three more years left of college and I'm just focused on college right now I'm not really worried about the NFL right now. It's very special for me just being a freshman and playing the national stage, like a peer for national titles, something that I dreamed of as a very young kid, I'm just happy to be here and I just can't wait to put on a show Monday for you guys. I mean all of us, we just sitting on the bench and we just seeing him hit the quarterback the ball come out and we all just got up and just started jumping up and down, we all excited. Happy for jacking that moment and we just knew that that moment like yeah we're going

to the adipers tour. Ministers a lot, I mean you know going from high school or winning three-state championship at Shamanama Donna then you know coming to Ohio State just competing for national title right now and just so that I picked two great schools but I'm happy to be here and just came with the pool to show Monday. The coolest person, I mean you got a lot, I can't really say just a specific person, you got a lot of great guys, we're trying to lead like O'Dell, you had guys like Stefan Dicks, a lot of other players in the world just came to my mom but really really didn't too

guys be sure O'Dell and Stefan Dicks. Yeah yeah um I mean like they say they played man so I mean I'm just ready for the Tullars and just get ready to go out there Monday and just no put them in so thank you. We're going to go back over there. The vice-general had gave me, I said just keep going first. I know the reason why I'm here and I mean like he said just keep going first and just no keeping the main thing and the best corner I've faced this year. I mean I've faced a lot of great corners, I can't really say but yeah I've faced a great lot of great corners, can't really put a name on it.

My dream occasion is Tertus and K-Copes. Oh good are you? Uh-huh I say both respect and frustration as well but I mean I thought they come out there and trip it to me and they say stick it to what they've been doing all year and that's playing man covers we just ready for the challenge.

Uh pretty good group Christian Gary 29th is a great corner 15, Lenard Moore, two great guys are right there. Very physical but you know we all highest never see but so we ready for the challenge. I say just no understanding the defense, understanding the game plan, understanding what coach Kelly is trying to get done. I mean just coming in I felt I progressed from my first game gets accrued to now. I feel like I better each and every week. Um me thinking slow down a lot for me um but yeah I really just know understanding the differences and know understand what they're trying to do to me for sure.

Oh them two guys great part of the best we go see all year for sure. Two two uh physical guys um but you know we're ready we're ready for the challenge that they're coming with and that's the play man oh man and you know we ready to go on my day. Yeah. Oh I mean the environment is pretty crazy uh seeing all these cameras uh something I never thought I'd see it in my life but uh it's a blessing for sure this is the main this position right now. Um and we just had a prayer prayer uh prayer uh lead meeting and you know we all they all the I mean we all discussed the issues because they discussed these issues and you know we just want the work uh me not two and a half weeks we had off before Tennessee game and we just came out there um Tennessee game and we played with a chip on our on our chip on our shoulder um

all throughout the playoffs and we go continue to play with that chip on our shoulder in uh national championship on Monday. Uh do you know how that very uh impactful uh yeah the very impact on my career I should say uh you know just going to his games as a uh very like seven eight years old uh him playing for West Virginia and they played Clemson Orange Bull down at Miami um me just go there they're seeing his games it was like yeah I definitely want to play on his stage and I can uh wait till I get to no die moment for sure. There are you. Okay uh because they really just in his own his own little space uh he's just walking around trying to get his mind right trying to get his mind ready for the game uh but you know he just gave everybody hype in the locker room and you know just trying to get us ready to go to win the game.

Yeah. Oh yeah oh yeah for sure I mean uh go play man against Ohio State receivers I mean just to be ready uh because you know we definitely go come out there and know uh give our best and I mean they said not go change what they do so we just ready for the challenge. Not a year later uh definitely sometime my career college uh but not my first year in college I should say uh man just to be able to be in this position right now it's you know a blessing or just a young kid from Miami to be here and I won't take it for granted I'm ready to go out there and make money and give him my dog.

Yeah. Yeah uh I mean yeah I was watching that game against was a Georgia I believe yeah I was watching that game uh I was pretty sick myself because I was actually committed at that time um so I mean yeah they left a bad taste in them all um but I mean we ready to go out there Monday to redeem myself and they'll just put a punishment there. Yeah. Uh I mean I just laughed um but you know that's what they do they're not gonna change what they do uh just because we're Ohio State so I'm just gonna go out there and put it on put it on uh why not to play uh man no man it gets us so we just gotta go out there and shut up my day. So yeah

He said he ain't I'm sorry. Uh my journey here at Ohio State repair me a lot from that your shape of shit me just going through everything that I've been through uh my friends got here all uh uh Matt Jules all the hard workouts that we had all the hard practices um me just preparing all of us for this moment and no I'm just ready to go out there and give it up my all on my day. Okay Okay okay yeah We just squeezed this Oh no no 200 me is big and strong So Yeah

You know What's 20? Yeah that's great yeah pretty good. No problem. Yeah Uh It went out probably like the Moses the one against Michigan State when I caught over two defenders on On that side line After that I should say or you go the one against Iowa probably them three probably my best one for sure Oh, I mean just will put in the ball in my area and I just know how to make a play for

Um even though somebody was grabbing my face. I just know I still how to make a play because the ball Touched my hand so I mean just in the ball and the other thing I have to make the play no matter how the ball comes at me After a big game um, I mean we really they really feed us Chick-fil-A or piece out of the game So it's really either Chick-fil-A or piece so yeah probably Chick-fil-A for sure Yeah Uh it went it went pretty good everybody just uh Speaking with their thing is uh going right in what they think is wrong Um, we just a lot of the older guys was in their opinions on what we need to do the uh

Kind of get out of team But you know that me and definitely uh help those in a in a big way because it helped us on the field as well Because we played a great football right now and we just got to shoot out on Monday Yeah, definitely got emotional uh can't really say uh wait really was sad because that's no prayer prayers only and coaches only but it would definitely some stuff said that People take uh People took and they uh went with it and that's the reason we planned it was right we planned right now Uh, yeah, make help me a lot this year um him being our older guy in the room um me help me and Carnell as well And Brennan and all the guys in our city room as well me just a great guy as well very smart I mean make just been a big part of the reason that I'm having to see that I'm having to look because he's been a big You know older guy been there been a lot of great guys in our room like Chris a lot of way

Garrett Wilson Marvin Harrison Jr. Jackson Smith and Jibba so he's seeing all the Chris I've been through there and me teaching us the right thing and the right way and the book Oh, no, I feel like I was reading you know right You know, I mean It's got me different not me and uh, I just feel like uh, I had all the offers I think What you know, I mean, but obviously I had to fuck down like her in work sites No, it doesn't matter to get here enough on the start You know, I feel good. You know, I'm actually feeling an auto hard work and I On to that spring on the teaching and coach you gave me and I just paid off Taking the two deep as a true freshman outlay from the office opportunities and have a bigger role This is what he's like going to your second. Oh, you know, it's working to keep you know, I mean Obviously, they'll be going you know Whatever with having the same as or whatever. I mean, I'm just working just to keep you know work my tail off

Make it all for my sake. I can chase physical I would say like I got a lot more aggressive and I'll get you know, I guess I'll wait now Um, pushing towards 200 pounds now You know Coach Patricia, what have you uh, see for the day? He's a great guy, you know, I like him Oh, no, besides coach, he's a great guy. He cares about his players You know, obviously football wise He's a master either hinders. He is a well respected. He's football business He's you know, in his time being in that hotel, so I think he's gonna fuck you Start a rotational piece I expect you know just to add value for the team in just me please You feel a lot more for this year Oh, yes for sure, I feel like I'm starting to use to everything here And I feel like I'm just trying to pull off one of the last you know

What? I don't think so much of the shatter the national championship I was a team really embraced that mindset and say competitive in that mindset You know, you know, we we have one idea so far so You know, we're trying to stay determined And I know just trying to dominate and I'm looking at the past and more It's like you're never gonna have to decide what you're gonna want I'm not a coach with a better mentor if you're having an A and B role, you have a Beard role that you're filling in Yeah, get some ropes in another position Well, I've seen all right out plans For you say you need to try and know no craft myself and just you know make myself more versatile for the team wherever I go Get some more last time Limiting his reps right obviously Like I said, so you know, I was in the league of us, you know And for him you'd be ready, you know, why does this all just working? I mean skip you scheme better Thank you for the appreciation For Ryan so like there's some stuff at least we they you did over there at Notre Dame that we'll see if we're able to kind of implement

Something here. I'm sure some maybe not others depending on what our guys do best Christ I want to see it because it's like it's a fresh start I knew said eyes on him and I think it's an opportunity to be multiple and use him and what he does best, you know, or so That's the exciting thing you know, when you really studied what coach Patricia has done in the past is he likes to take like who are like who are players and then let's build it around those nights and I think CJ has had a hell of a winner. I think he's one of those guys So I'm excited to see how we get creative and use him into the spring That many see how to be like float is more of an edge defender. He's kind of different than you guys. I think yeah I think he has that I think that's exactly what kind of like potential CJ has is the ability to You know get on the edge move around the nice thing about that is is that You're not handicapped just with CJ doing one thing off the edge You have the ability because he understands conceptually Zone drops linebacker terminology, right? You can get really creative about how you use him

But I think he definitely needs to be utilized more as a Just go to the heart of America go go be disruptive What about Matt is a leader of you guys this coach is How are you? I see all famous you guys and how are you seeing that and How do you feel about the higher? I love the higher I got a lot of respect for coach Patricia Like ever since he worked me a Marcus out back here But what we were talking about that when you first was and the interview process is kind of fast time goes, but I'm really excited just to continue to learn like I said like there's some it's funny because there's some terminology that When I was at Notre Dame you can use and I can at least speak some of his language with what he's called things before and you're trying to More everything to gather right with these things that we've done what he knows what we do like it's a lot and But he's been incredible with I think the staff he's very organized. He's detailed

You'll have Constant clear communication, you know, and they're gonna get together at this time of the year like you're just efficient in your role And it's been a lot like when you're come from Outside and you come back into it and you have to try to catch them up on the recruiting board It's it, you know like you have a lot of these conversations. Okay, what are we looking for at these positions now? How do you see it? Because you don't under one coordinator you might see a the mic line back when you used to be this and under this coordinator Well, I think the mic back needs to be this so you have to have those conversations at every position and You just kind of keep going through and I'm just excited to learn I think the more systems I mean luck Played the system here in college played a system underneath the Magnolo played the system of Tim Walden played the system under Greg Williams that a talent Coach of Ralgold and Jim Nalt like Everyone of those there's like different terminology for everything So you're just you're learning a different language. Call and think you know, I mean there's concepts and

Think it's kind of collect over time what you think is Really good stuff and how you do stuff a bit be a little different. I'm just really excited to learn from that I'm telling success. He seemed very excited over there talking really to be here. Yeah Focusing college, which yeah, whatever so long What's his person how they like to meet you guys? Yeah, he's been great. I mean his energy is incredible He's very he is he's authentically excited to be back in college football You could tell there's like a yearning to get back to Like the why you got the coaching right is the impact young people is the impact and teach the game of football And so the future has been fun, you know kind of like talking to the guys in a sense like He's excited to just teach ball, you know what I mean and Kind of ironically like you know similar to a lot of other things that chips at last year, right? Back and I'm just excited And so he has that excitement. He's done a phenomenal job. I think of getting other players Just kind of like walking around versus like popping in making sure that he's in front of them and they get to know him and

He gets to know them and it's a lot that you can imagine when you come in you have all these guys, right and Trying to learn all these guys. I'm learning recruiting. I'm learning staff. I'm learning dynamics like it's a lot But he's handled it really well You know, he's an old-school ball coach. He's a grinder. So he's really good job James, I probably not gonna need to do much this spring. How much more can you get down with the young guy? I'm not telling him that so I got to do a lot But in terms of Ryan Dairty said you know 50% 75% or whatever. How much more can you get down with the young guys when they're not worried too much about the senior? Yeah, I think I mean You're always just looking for competition Especially like at Sprimball of mess what's all about right? You're trying to have It's so cliche, but it's true like the iron iron sharpens iron mentality of You want your run to be super competitive to where Hey, the guy in front of me makes a play Yeah, my next set of four plays I got there. I have the on point right and it's a constant driving of the room forward

So yeah, sonny gets 50 or how many reps? Reps off 50% rubber coach said Then that means more opportunity for somebody else to play right? So that'd be more for our vales that scheme flexibility with our value and paid pierce around It's that TJ Riley you like all these guys stove We're all gonna get more ruts. I think it's great. So we got to do it this point in season But I think you know, yes, there's still stuff that the thing that I love about sonny is that he's gonna be Clon to try to get those rubs because he's a he's a true pro and Yeah, that's been the most enjoyable thing about I think working with him is like You get a kid who's played safety his whole life comes to the back yard He just wants to learn the why behind everything and You know very similar to the fact of Cody like we have guys where that easy to work with you're not trying to like Now worried about texting anybody in our room About coming over and trying to learn all you know, I mean like where you at you know like They're obsessed with the game football. They're always around when they're at class

So it's like it makes it really easy as a coach because they're passionate for the game and so strong You mentioned in C.J. in terms of the higher with the map just what can sonny like what do you envision more with him with all of that stuff? I think I think we just have a lot of guys with a lot of length You talk about sunny styles long Conron or Valries long Like It's crazy because you see stunning. You're like okay. This guy like Wish I was built like that when I played and then you see our bell stand next to sonny here like You know those are those you know what I mean? And so like and then you look across the room like as the room warms up You're like holy smokes like we just have a bunch of guys and that's a lot of credit to to make coach make as a phenomenal job. I was just Talking to burn about it like To see even our meteor guys what they looked like when they showed up during like the bowl of the hola and that he run and They're kind of hanging out during practice

And see the high school bodies to see what they look like today before they go red and like the shoulders are all like everything is just different And they've been And doctorated in the brotherhood So I think you know, there's just a lot to work with and so what he's really good at right is like and he's talked about it One year he has junior say oh, we'll get us Mike variable, you know Roosevelt Colvin and those guys And a couple years later he has Brandon spikes and so he's like okay, which is by his blitz brand at the middle all the time She's 262 pounds and beast and he always says he was my best nose guard from Mike backer, right? And then the year after that gets you know got Jamie Collins and Dante high talent So now we can do a lot of stuff right so There's not just like hey, this is what we're doing. We got plenty of them. Hey, here's what we got Let's utilize it So that's what spring will be Walgone the lab and figure what that means. I'm sure through spring ball. There'll be like Hey, here's what

We do really well as unit because this unit is gonna be different Right, I mean the unit we lose a lot of production so you know will be different So you kind of got to reform your own identity and Yeah, we earned that silver bullet big name and mantra How many guys can look at our bell Just like he's on a very good track. Is that it? Distribute to see like it's okay It's just a lot right now. He's locked in. He's done a great job becoming a leader um Coming out of his shell. I think you know, I think for Velley, it's all about his sister-seed just preparation and I'm proud of our bell, you know, he's through the season. You got way better at You know, a lot of it's like little things just note taking and stuff like sometimes you have to these kids are always on their phones and stuff Not like the meeting rooms or anything like that, but just naturally So like to get out of pen and paper and like You hear things and to me. Oh, yeah, I got it What you do until your dog tired and then you forget because you're talking your dog name But when you really understand it, you know, and me like go play faster. He got so much better through the year

Just a lot of that's because of Cody like becoming a pro and then now it's like sonny's pulling him along He's pulling pain along the pain to fall into DJ and Riley and Eli so they can still like So I kind of love the competition or what right now in the way it's made up Yeah, that was on his own great path right now How many different guys do you feel like can be in that Mike's spot? Appreciate but that was obviously losing Cody and now You know, I think that's something that's fluid as we kind of go Because you know week one sonny actually started at Mike for us and sonny smart enough to play them all Our vel is smart of the play them all Paying piercest smart of the play them all um And that's also like how did you like depends on what what scheme you're running the where they how do they being utilized as well? You know what I mean? so You say my like my backer, you know, whether it's Tommy I could very grow up in research two different people and Cody's different than those two so I challenged to like a lot of the guys that come in and so you got the other both the more you understand about the scheme in general

The faster you will play you know what I mean like if I just sit here and I say hey, I got a little mic My drop is this and that's all I need to know like Well, no football happens so fast and all the shifts emotions that like If you're out there just playing and you're waiting for a call And you're just reacting like you're so worried about what's going on on your side of the ball You don't even recognize that the offense is telling you something's what they're doing so
