Team A's for blocking for me and thank you to the defense for having our bags in the first head. You know, we're going to get better. I'm going to get better. I got to get in shape. I thought I was in shape, but it was not. The monkey jumped on my back on a few of those long runs, so it's going to keep you good, but it's 6-1, y'all. The one to like to run in the monkey pit, y'all, I found it. It was good, but when the monkey jumped on my back and I shot, I got to get in shape. And the run was good, but I'm so disappointed that I was in shape. That didn't finish that. Two runs, that should have finished. How can you do that during the season? In practice, I can run more gasses, run more sprints, and we'll be ready to go. What did you think on the 61 yard or when you were breaking free? You turned around and you saw them coming? Well, no. The first 40 yard, I was like, oh, yeah, bye-bye. Because I was putting it away from them, and then after that, I was like, oh, shit. I got heavy. So I was like, all right, let me just cover the ball. I got tackled. I think you're the great guy, I think you're the great guy.

You know, it's great just because you're going to get into the other two games, you're the one, what's that feeling for? I got justice back. I caught it back, especially. Right? I caught it back, it's great. You can't be Superman, you know, that's what the team is for. And that's what they brought me here for, to have his back. Next week, I bet you feel better back. We kept hearing, this is going to be Jim. I was going to run the ball. That's going to run the ball. You can just really have it more, especially in the second half. You're going to stop in the opposite game and don't even know what's going to work in the first half? Yes. Always stick with it. Always leaving, always fighting. I knew we were going to crack some, you know, hard, I knew we were going to crack some lines. I knew you were offensive lines going to fight. I want to fight with them. I'm going to have their backs. And you saw that. Jake, how did that feel? After everything, how did that feel? How did that feel? To have their performance out there for your first team or game with the chargers? Hey, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, get him, okay, get him, okay, look, look. But, just looking at my, just, we ain't got you right now. We ain't got you right now.

Man, it felt good though. It felt really good. But now, don't get you ready for next week. You know, the type of guy who will have a good game, go back to the draw and board. Let's get back. To get that call from Coach Kundy made my day, I was so excited. My family was excited. We're just so glad to be here and still water and to be here at Oakland State. Yeah, so compare Lauren or not Lauren's, Matt and Kansas to still water. What's that trend this one like? It's been great. You know, I tell you, there's probably a little more similar similarities than there are differences. You know, both really good college towns, both great fan bases. You know, not big, not, you know, just great college towns. So, you know, the people are awesome here. And, you know, I'm just excited to be here. It's a beautiful place. I'm really enjoying it. Yeah, Coach, and give us some of the names that haven't really been talked about enough on the offensive line in your group

that you think should be talked about more. Some of the young names. Well, I mean, they're all worthy of being mentioned. I think they're all working really hard. They're all really good kids. You know, the guys that stand out to me right now, I mean, in terms of just guys that have shown great leadership on Marcus Keyes and Johnny Wilson. I mean, I really appreciated their leadership and how they've handled themselves. Because they've been here the longest and they've had to go through a couple off at the non-coachies. And I know it's the transition has been hard. But they've been awesome. You know, great leaders and just have done a really nice job in that regard. Some of the younger kids, I talked about, you know, Bryce Bray, you know, he's a lecturer in freshmen. But he's been competing at that left-happest spot.

He was starting for us with left-happest this whole spring. And the fall, he's going to be competing with Dylan. Galilee, because Dylan started some, I think he started six games last year. So that'll be a nice little battle. You know, Jacob Farrell, I'm very impressed with him. You know, I've been impressed with Hunter Wooders, you know, in terms of his toughness and how he's a work ethic. So, but there's a lot of good young guys that have been working really hard. You know, Hunter Anthony and Tyree Swoleons, I'm excited about those guys as well. I've got a good young class of guys. You sure do coach, thank you for your time today. And thank you very much. We very welcome. Thank you. So you were coaching under Bill Snyder forever. Yeah, you could probably write a book about what you learned. What maybe in the synopsis where did you learn from Snyder coaching under him? Well, I mean, just, you know, trying to get better every day, you know, and never be satisfied.

And, you know, he was very demanding. You know, very demanding on his players, he's a man on his coaches. You know, he's just very competitive. And, you know, and I've said this before, there's a lot of similarities between these two programs. And maybe the personalities are different, but, you know, but when I first day, I got here. First day, our first staffman, Coach Cunning, talked about us being a more tougher, more physical, more disciplined football team. That's all Coach Snyder talked about. You know, those are the things he would talk about, you know, and just having us being, being, being, being the toughest, most disciplined team out there. And, and that's, you know, so it's like, it was like we're hearing the same thing.

And so, and that's what we're stressing and that's what we want to be. And that's what we're trying to be, this year. We're here at Oklahoma State. Well, some of, some of Gungi's best teams, especially early on. And that's the best. Yeah. I don't know if it's a line, but it got away from that a little bit, maybe some of them. But how do they get back to being like that physical? Well, yeah, I think we got to, I mean, I, we got to be demanding on them. And we got to, we got to install the toughness and continue to, and still the toughness, continue to, and still discipline them. And, and just not be satisfied, you know, and, and, and, and just be demanding on them. Yeah. Well, I mean, I just, I just want us to get better every day. And I want us to, my goal, again, is for us to, to, to be tougher and to be more physical and, and, and, and, and to be, and to be, and, and to be more disciplined, you know, and, and, and, and really focus on those, focus on those attributes, and, and I know if we do, that that will carry over to us being successful in the field.

Yeah. It's, being, being such a veteran. How have you seen social media impact? Well, it's, it's impacted quite a bit. Yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's very interesting, you know, and, it's, it's, it's taking me, you know, I got to, you know, well, to get used to all of it. Yeah. I'm not saying I'm great on it, but. Yeah, but I'm on Twitter and all that good stuff, and so, so, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's been, it's been fine. It's been, but it is, it is having an impact on, on, on, on, on recruiting. Yeah. The differences between, they spent the style of offense and we, the states, the most spread out. How does that affect the area? Well, that's a great question. I mean, that was probably the biggest transition for me was, was just, and one of the most exciting things for me was being able to be a part of this offense, because Coach Gundos' offices have been the best, some of the best in the country, period.

I mean, they've been awesome. So, I wanted to be a part of it, but with that, it was, you know, it can't be stayed. We were, we were, you know, ground and pound and we were a lot of quarterback on game. And, and, and, but also just taking as much time on the clock as we could so we could keep the, keep the ball away from other defenses, you know, or for other, other, other offices. And so, just slowing down and that type of stuff. So, here was playing fast and getting guys to just, teaching my guys to, you know, to get up and make the calls and get the points and that was different. And so, but, but that's kind of where I was, where I was going to, where, where I was, you know, where, hey, I just, being able to, to resource Johnny and Marcus, hey, you know, how do you guys do that? You know, what, what, what, what were some of the things, you know, and Jason Meckendos really helped with that as well, you know. So, but it's been a great transition. It's been a great transition. How does your job in a mingle with Sean Wilson and, depending upon who wins the quarterback job, want to maybe work both of them, what is that, what is the, what is the, what is the relationship like?

What's been great with Sean? Sean's awesome. I mean, I've said that Sean's got a, he's got a vision. He knows where he, what he wants and he's very passionate. He's a very intense, very detailed and, and so, you know, he knows, he knows exactly where he wants this offense to go. And so, I'm really excited. I'm really excited to get a chance to work with him and the whole offensive staff has been awesome. You know, Waz and Casey and, and Matt have all been great. So, it's really good. Touch Gundey talking about trying to accurately who can't stay before and obviously this time. Or those pitches like in those conversations that I give them at those times. Well, I mean, it was great. Coach Gundey's, you know, he's, he was awesome. And so, it just circumstances, just, for whatever reasons, just didn't know I made it to be able to, to do it, but, but, but I'm just grateful now for this opportunity.

I'm, I'm just grateful he gave me a call. I guess that's one thing I am very grateful for. I'm very, very thankful for that he, you know, he gave me that call. So, I'm very, really excited to be here. Is there anything you want to say to the guys going in, going out, you moving back to guard, going coming in? What was that like in the moment, having to adjust on the fly? I mean, we're built for this, like, just how, you know, I moved the center and Steve moved the left guard. It's just, we're all pretty much interchangeable. And we can all play all positions across the board. You know, when it comes down to that, that time, you know, things like that got to happen. We're ready for it. What did you think of AJ came in and given all of the circumstances for him coming off the fly? Yeah, I mean, all those guys are ready, you know, we, we prepare during the week, during, during training camp for situations like this. So, it's not, nothing new to them, you know, guys are calm, cool, collected, they have good composure. So, being elevated, being active, being a starter, you know, we're all in the same boat, ready to fly. I know it's a next men of mentality, but in real time when that was happening, these guys were going down and switching.

What was the challenge for me the whole time? Physically and Mike said that. I mean, we're all, like I said, we're all pretty much interchangeable, you know, like, if I need to go to left guard center, whatever, bone needs to go to center, left guard, whoever, you know, it's, it's not really like a big shocker moment, you know, it's, we train for this, we're prepared for this. So, when it happens, you know, we're able to execute. Why don't you just stop and be awake in the switch? To left guard. I think half time. Oh, coming in. It's a rookie in the crowd and the noise. And I know you said, you guys all trained for this, but what can you tell us about how he, I mean, he's a man, you know, he's, he's, he's, he's built for this moment. He's done it for his whole life. So, you know, at the end of the day, it's just a game. We keep on, we keep trying to keep everybody calm, calm, collected, and you know, we're five is one. We help each other out and whenever, you know, you need to, we do it. So, he was ready. He was built for it. You know, he's going to be a great player. You're obviously no stranger to Matthew's toughness. What was the like just seeing the way he loved this off?

I think I, that guy's a warrior. 36 years old. He's taken some hits and some things and some dent. And he's able to get back up and keep it rolling. You know, he's still got that fire to him. You know, we love having him back there. Sean has always said after a loss going by the team beat you twice, but to have the lead late in the game, and all the injuries and not win, you describe that level of frustration. I mean, it's the NFL. It comes down to seconds and inches and you've seen him off the past couple of days and today, you know, it comes down to the little things and, you know, we'll see him again. And I apologize if you were asked this before. It was a like for you personally to walk on what the game was. It was kind of surreal, man. It was nice, emotional seeing everybody. I wasn't a kid when I came here, but you know, I grew into more of a man. And these people here have definitely helped lay that blueprint for me and helped me out big time. You know, I can't thank them enough for that. I know you've looked at film yet for how you feel about the D. I feel really good, you know, Sam. Good because, you know, everything, careful all of a sudden, and OTA is showing up.

You know, we said I ground. We came up short a little bit, but in that end day, you know, it's a lot to wear from. I see a bright future for us. I think that's been on there for a long time, right? I mean, you guys have been stopping them and they just seem to kind of get a role. Yeah, you know, you know, just something that we just need work on, you know, kind of play around better on that and just kind of eliminate the big plays. That's all that it comes down to, but overall, I just felt like we just came up sure on that. So, that's the offense. It's kind of struggling to find its footing early in the game. What did you guys feel like you guys do as a Q&A? I feel like we just need to step up, you know, I know they would have come through and have our bags. So, I just tell them to office, you know, we got y'all back, you know, just keep going, y'all doing it. We're going to keep on trying to hold in the best we can to save. So, how did the visit go? Oh, it was great. Yeah, I loved it. What's the staff here? You could tell it has really good family ties, strong connection. What were some things that you were looking for on your visit, whether it was, you know, talking to coach Nare Valesky, I guess what was important to you on this visit?

So, I mean, for me, I mean, like, this was kind of like a big decision for me, where I decided to kind of like not fish my degree of rest and then from the quarter of the cycle. I can start to find the place where I can develop the most and then just have to go to my coach, you know, final place where I can face a good competition, not only in games, but in practice as well. And part of the most important is just finding a good group of guys that are dedicated to any dedicated to it to being great because I mean, we have a team of me guys who aren't serious about what to be great and I mean, it's waste of time with money. So, I mean, those are probably not big three, but the culture being kind of important. Being around the coach, you know, hand-to-day, what was kind of the things that you noticed around him, whether it's how he is or just what your thoughts of him being around him most of the time. And he's an incredibly detailed guy. And I got that for sure from, it's like watching a film when he broke down, it's like some game film with me and he also kind of broke down.

So, the guys that he's coaching the past that are similar to me. And, you know, that was a, you know, he really just showed how good a coach is, you know, getting no attention on bellgur in this experience, what has happened? It was good. He's a very passionate guy. And I mean, I love that. I mean, the head coach should have that. And, you know, you can tell how much he cares about what the guys want to program, about just like being dedicated, being driven to win, to succeed. What did they tell you about the opportunity here as far as meeting a player of your sort at a position? Well, I mean, they see me at a left tackle and I'll be a good fit, you know, coming in. I was, as a coach, no ball, stress, you know, also, other great, all sorts of linemen in the portal that have lots of risk of being a fit, why it's like now, being a fit when it comes to, just like what you guys do. But, if he does, it's like the people here. What's kind of the ultimate feeling now about FSU?

Have you solved this big experience with them? What's kind of the feeling about them? Yeah, it's definitely good feeling. It's great. I'm glad I was actually able to come down here because I mean, there's some calls and folks also are nice, but, you know, in person, it's a lot different. And this is again to know the stature, again, to know coach herb, it's a no-ocean of ball, like it was a great experience overall. Who else have you checked out during these passes? What other schools? Well, I've talked to some others, so I've talked to, how I say it in Iowa and A&M, really just, you know, that's what I've been in. I've tried to keep this short, I've tried to keep it sweet, and it needs to be 20 bunch of schools. I mean, that's not the man-priority. Are you entering decision-money now or do you intend to take some trips in Army January? Yeah, I'm done with this, so. When do you want to decide? Sometimes I'm focused. Put on. For those of us who have only seen the midway with highlights of new wood, put kind of your strengths in areas that you're looking to improve on. So, shrink wise, I would say, probably just move it.

I'm going to go short. I would be very well for it, very hard for it. 45 pound of guy. I have a good time. I fight every day on a film. It's like I'm going to have my stances and they think it's going to be so big. It's going to be able to lift people. But at the same time, also does the neat assistant and hand-place and punch on it. For working tenor on this technique. I mean, if you're a big strong guy, you totally do so much. You don't have the right technique, so. That's a big reason why I want to have a good one. I want to question the world. So, we'll find out that it needs to be precise with everything. And that's kind of like what we do. It's a treatment. Who? Thanks. A lot of low-highs in the fans because they always travel. But are we a pro-Texas crowd for the most part? Do you guys kind of thrive off that? Do you like that? Kind of be in the enemy? I guess. I mean, you can say that, but you know, we don't really try to focus on the fans. We produce on the field. If it's a way game, home game, you know, we just want to go out there and execute.

Four girls, right. Cameron T. Grovinson, the athletic. It's highly... If there's a lot to say when you guys all came back, you saw some of those teams that don't like to be in these last two games. We have 12 sacks. You guys really aren't blitzing a ton. It's not even a start. The bench guys can yada. They just come in. What's it been like to see this... Realize this potential and get it with the counter-recapitants last two weeks? I said we always knew what we had in our room. You know, it's just... Now it was just showing up. You know, teams are scheming us different ways. And it's allowing certain players to make certain plays. And I think, you know, we got so many guys in the room. You know, we have two that can be ones anywhere. We have three that can be ones anywhere in the country. But they all, you know, decided to stick here. And you know, grind this thing out with the guys that came in with it. And like I said, I think we have a great group. Who, you know, can make plays anytime. When you guys get 8-6 in a game, but also a whole different... I don't know, it's a minus 25 rush yards in a game.

What is that like? What is that say about the scope of the job you guys did? I'm saying. I think it's a great feeling, you know, looking up at the scoreboard and seeing like a negative. Definitely. But you know, it's just like all the work we put in over the summer, over the season. You know, we've been building this defense to where it is now. And like I said, when we're executing and we're at a high level, it's hard to, you know, do anything with us. Behind the enemy Birmingham, the bot cap. I'm telling you, I'm not going to ask you to call out officials, okay? But I do want to ask you, have you ever been told support? Yeah, I think our whole D-line gets held, you know, every game. I don't know what the refs are seeing or what's going on with that. But you turn on the tape and really look at it. We're held almost every play. So, is there something that you can you guys be better actors? You can be more dramatic about it. What do you think has to happen for it to get called in your favor one time this season? We can be actors, but you know, we don't really teach none like that.

But I don't know if it's real, because we're a high-level state. You know, letting things go or what it is, but it's been, you know, pretty bad. I know y'all see it too. It's every play, almost every game. We got you. Adam, think WBNF? We got a chance to see a glimpse of Coach Day's pretty game speech. The intensity that you've seen for the last two games in the playoffs. Is that different than you've seen throughout the year? And what does that do for this group before you go out on the field? I want to say it's different. He's been like that his whole year, but it's just now getting recorded and posted. But definitely when you see your head coach, it's fired up like that. It likes the fire and you, you know, go out there and do better. And you know, you can't thank Coach Day enough because, you know, he's our leader over this team. And when he's like that, he makes you want to, you know, go out there and do great for him, for like the guys around us. Scotty, we're going to go to you with a couple on Zoom. Yes, sir. We're going to start with Andy Anders. Andy, go ahead.

Yeah, I mean, Texas has a runs a lot of outside zone schemes that you just want to what's important for the thing those kinds of plays on the ground. And I guess just straightening out those kinds of so to speak. Do you say that again? I don't need to get there. Yeah, just Texas runs a lot of outside zone in their run game. I mean, schemes. Just what's important for defending that kind of plays of the tackle for a detaquin versus stretch team. You always want to talk about penetration like penetrating the line and not catching. Because once you know you penetrate the stretch, it basically stops the stretch and makes them, you know, cut back to, you know, unblocked players. So really just attacking this game and not catching. Next question is going to come from Dan Hope. Dan, go ahead. Hi, Leake, you are in a freshman class with Quinn. Now you're playing against him a few years later. Just what's that like for you?

You know, Quinn's my guy. You know, he's a great competitor, great quarterback. I think it'll be fun going against him. You know, trying to get him running around. Next question comes from Kurt Bulls. Kurt, go ahead. I don't know if there's one thing you can pinpoint why y'all been so dominant. I would think maybe it comes back under the physical brand of football. Do you feel that's going to be the survivor in this game? Who's the more physical team? I would say definitely the more the most violent team, you know, the team that plays the fastest, executes the most. And you know, is there a game playing the most is going to win this game? I found a question will come from Stefan from Cleveland.com. Ty Lee, what's cut of your relationship been like with Ty Hamilton, especially as the seasons progressed and just how in sync? Do you feel like you two are playing on a defensive line together?

Me and Ty are, you know, we've been roommates for the past two years. We live in the same apartment complex. We play the game together. It's really like one of my best friends on the team. We talk about a lot of football things. So we're really on the same page with a lot of plays, teams like to run against us. And it could be some stunts we've run. We're always connected in some kind of way. Jerry, back to you. Great, thanks. Just a couple more questions. Joy, come up and Columbus this bad. Ty Lee, what does it say about your defensive line and how pride for you guys when you can get 8 stacks, 13 tackles for loss, that having to bring a ton of extra guys and pressure by you. I'll say a cool to store coach, coach Jay. It teaches a lot of technique and sometimes it doesn't show up because you know, team scheme you different ways. But when you have a team one dimensional, like they have to pass the ball, that's when all the, you know, the pass rush technique and stuff comes out. And I think we've gotten Tennessee and Oregon to those situations where they had to pass the ball and, you know, just let us rush free.

Instead of worrying about the run, if that makes sense. Are you guys just winning those one on one of those past Russian situations till I was here? Somebody say X and TFLs? Yeah, I'll say we're definitely winning way more one on one is now. And you know, they're not keeping as many guys in the box to block us because they have to, you know, they're trying to come back. So I think it's like I said, it's just cool to us to the offense, you know, creating these big leads and making teams one dimensional. Before we left David Vigooz, then WCME. Tyler, we've talked about how better the team has gotten as to getting off to fast starts on those sides of the ball. But there has been some scoring late in the first half against Tennessee and against Oregon. Has there been renewed emphasis on controlling the middle eight and how important will that be against Texas? Definitely, you know, that's one of Coach Day's biggest points, you know, controlling the middle eight. You control the middle eight, you like chances of you winning that game goes, you know, skyrockets. So definitely versus Tennessee and Oregon, we give up touching on as you know, lay in the second half. I mean, first half.

But we just got to keep our full on the gas. We can't let up like at all because these teams we're playing are great teams like Texas is a great team. You know, the great offense, great offense, a line, great quarterback, great receivers, great running backs. So you know, we just got to just keep executing like we know we can and you see how it plays out. Okay, final question for Tyler here. Tim May, Letterman Rowe. Tell me, you know, Aaron Donnelly, you talk about everybody's hurting at this time of the year. But when the lights come on and the snap goes, what goes off in a guy like here's mine? I mean, from the standpoint of making the play. I mean, can you explain that to people don't get to play down in the middle of it all? I'll say, you know, like I said, you're right. Everybody has heard around this time. You know, we're 15th week, 14th, you know, deep in the season. You know, you just got to show up. That's my mindset. You just got to show up. No matter what I'm going through, I got to make that play. I got to be disruptive, you know, just to help my team out. Because when I'm on my A game, you know, everybody else can, you know, feed off of me or we can feed off for like, you know, JT Jack tie.

But I said, you know, Coach Mick always says like, nobody cares. Like it's true. I don't really care if you're a hurry, if you're injured, you just got to go out there and play and make plays. Just a little bit. Explain the drive you have personally to get through this next one into the next one. But I know it's one step at a time. You know, you came back, et cetera. Explain people what's going on in your brain about your motivation. My motivation, you know, we all have our wise, you know, while we're doing things, you know, we have family, you know, family here, our team, our brotherhood. But he's got to, he want to do, you write for your brothers, you know, on this team, you know, we're trying to win the big thing. We're not just, you know, trying to go win two games and lose. We're trying to win the big thing, you know. As long as we stay motivated, stay, you know, humble, like, you know, take the rap poison, you know, things like that. And just execute and just play our hardest, you know, that will be fine.

Thank you very much. So that is the house of spring, the big old backs within Healthy? Yes, sir. I feel very healthy. Obviously coming off a season and ending injury last year, I feel really good, feeling better than ever to be honest. Even better than I did before the season last year. So it's been a great spring so far. How disappointing was it to get hurt? Your office at the great start last year. Yeah, I mean, it was, it was a hard time. I mean, it's definitely not easy going through any injury, especially during the season like that. But, you know, it builds character. I think it's good for me in the long term. I also built that for the time of the season. Oh, for sure. Yeah. Saw some key pieces coming there and produced at a high level. What do you think, George? George is a stud. Once he gets healthy, he's going to be great. He's working really hard right now. And he's going to, he's going to have a great season this year. Personally, how exciting is it for you to be kind of your position now this year?

Yeah, it's super exciting. You know, I got a lot better feel for the offense this year. Really good rapport with Hudson and it's been a fun spring so far. So I've just got to keep, keep carrying that on and see where it takes us. Obviously, when you're sideline, you're not playing how important is it to stay mentally ready and mentally get those reps? Oh, when you come into the spring, you can improve. Definitely. I mean, that's all it is really just mentally. Envisioning the plays, envisioning making the plays and every night, you know, I think about it probably every day. So it was, it was a big part of it for sure. How have you gotten better? I think just understanding the defenses and understanding where the quarterback wants me at a specific time. And, you know, building that trust with him is huge. And I think I've been doing a pretty good job of that. How does that relationship with you and Hudson developing the year two? Yeah, it's developing great. I mean, we have a great friendship off the field. So, you know, that helps a lot on the field as well. So we have a great connection, you know, both on and off the field and it only helps.

Your brother's coming, right? Yeah, yeah. So you'll be here in May. It'll be a lot of fun. It'll be a lot of fun having him up here. What do you mean to see all of this team on Saturday? I think just, you know, go out there and play hard, limit the mistakes. And at the end of the day, it's just being consistent with what we do and playing hard. So that's what I want to see for sure. You feel like everyone's worth a pair for this spring game? Oh, for sure. I think we're way ahead of last year and I'm excited to see where it takes us. Anything on the team? The Biber or the freshman? Yeah, Drew Biber. Yeah, he's getting healthy now. He's looking great. He looked really healthy today. And I'm super excited to play with him. He's a lot of fun to play with. Just how quick is this turnaround? You guys just started practicing a couple weeks ago. Now you have a spring game to get to. It's pretty quick, but, you know, I like it. I like it a lot. So it's fun to get out there and play, you know, 11-11, and put the ball down and go. I mean, that's the goal. That's the goal every day. You know, that's what I'm reaching for.

And whether I get it or not, who knows, but that's what I'm reaching for every day. There'd be a leader like how he is. I mean, he's just unbelievable leader. And we all lean on him. He, you know, he runs his whole team. And he knows that. We'll go as far as he goes. Jeremy Birmingham, the podcast. Brandon, we talked a little bit last week, just kind of you being the becoming one of the emotional leaders of the team. This is, as you've ever walking off the field, they're half time on Wednesday. I have to be down there by the locker room. I was the only person taking photos of you guys down there. It was weird. But everyone looks super bad. You were up 34 and 8. And it looked like you got down by 26 points. Did you feel something different about the focus at that point of his team, or is it just a bit of modernism of what's going on right now? It's seen different. I just think the job wasn't done. We, we had nothing to be excited about at the moment.

You know, we were excited there in a game where we're making a plays. But at that time, at halftime, you go back to zero, zero. They scored, they scored a thing in a half. We knew they got the ball back. The defense wasn't quite happy that they gave up that touchdown at the end. And we knew they get in the ball back coming out. But we was excited because we knew the job wasn't doing it. Bill Rebellion, Columbus, this batch. You were a five star guy. And that coming up. All these guys in the room almost were five star guys. And then there's Jeremiah. Is he like, does he like all you guys in the room? I mean, I'm not sure. It's probably something you got to ask him. But you know, Jeremiah has played with a lot of great guys throughout his career. He's seen a lot of talent you can see in the world. But I don't know if he's ever in all, but I mean, you and all. Oh, and Maya, oh, yeah. I mean, I'm not surprised at anything he does now. Like I've seen him. It's out. We were nine years old. So anything he does, anyone hand catch, I've seen.

I'm not surprised at anything he does. When he was nine, did you know this is not a, this is something special we've been met. Maybe that nine? Oh, yeah. I mean, coaches were coming up to us complaining that we were nine years old. Like, can we, can we get their IDs and stuff like that? So I mean, I mean, there's definitely some footage. I mean, we got to go find, but the place we used to make when we were younger and just to see where he is now is amazing. It seems very unaffected by all of the starter. Yeah. How does that happen? I think how he was raised. He's just, he's very level-headed. He knows his goals and what he wants to get done in life. And this is just one step of the way for him. Can I throw a back to Texas for a couple of questions on Zoom, Scotty? Yes, sir. So we're going to start with Defond from cleaning.com. Go ahead. Brandon, I want to go back to what you were talking about with Coach Day earlier. You know, whenever he talks about this team's success, he says all the credit goes through players.

It seems like the players think that he deserves some of the credit. How big, how influential is he been during the turnaround you guys have had these last few weeks? He's been huge, man. Coming here after that team of North Laos, you know, his heart breaking, of course. But we came in here. We had a leadership meeting and he was in here. I mean, and then we had a team meeting after that. Hearing the stuff he had to say and we had to say going back and forth, we just, we knew, we would have his back no matter what. I mean, there's a lot of stuff set about him and his family and stuff like that. But we're a brotherhood and we're a family. And we just, we don't stand by him no matter what. Our next question is going to come from Dan. Hope Dan go ahead. Brandon, I mean, I'm sure you came in here to Ohio State thinking you'd probably be starting here in your second year. But it seems like you really embraced the growth process. Just what's kind of that process been like for you of kind of embracing your role this season and continuing to develop? Yeah.

In life, things doesn't go the way you exactly planted too. And that just had been, you know, things have been to Mecca last year that allowed him to come back. And that allowed me to learn more. And that's just how I see it makes me a better football player for the future. So yeah, I mean, yeah, let's see it. Three more on Zoom. Next one is going to come from Stefan Means. Go ahead. Steven, but. That's dark. Yeah, you're good. Brandon, there are a lot of clips of you this year where you're super, super excited after a block. And kind of showing your emotion there. What about blocking do you love so much as a receiver? Just being able to hit another guy with all my power, the hardest I can without any consequences. Except if you accept a few hold, of course, but yeah, just bringing that power.

I mean, I heard some of the defensive guys telling me yesterday there was like, bro, I hate to go against you. So knowing that from the defensive guys. So I know what the other defensive guys are thinking like, just keep bringing it to them. They're not going to like it for four quarters. That's my mindset. Next question is going to come from Danny Davis. Danny, go ahead. Brandon, what are your impressions of these Texas defensive backs? And this kind of we've seen from them on film so far? Yeah, the last couple of days we watched them, they're fast team. They don't give up many big plays down field. They're aggressive, but I actually know some of the DBs they have at corner there. I play with them. Well, I played with Mollie Muhammad at SFE. So I might know him a little bit. Yeah, but watching them, they're fast team, they're physical, they're disciplined, but we just got to get the job. Not giving me Malik stories or any any.

What do you say? Giving me Malik stories or anything you remember about playing with them? Oh, um. Yeah, but I'm not going to say them here. Yeah, we'll just keep that. Our final question is going to come from Kurt Bowles. Kurt, go ahead. Hey, Brandon. One of the issues Texas has had the second half of the year is finishing. And what if you can speak to, and they had a trouble obviously in the peach bowl, you know, blue with 16 point league. Can you talk about finishing and having a killer instinct? And you guys obviously seem to have that now. Yeah, I think that started in offseason training at Fall camp. We always say go plus two. If you're doing a 10 yard pro shuttle, you have to go plus two throughout the line. And that's just finishing up as well. And then fall camp, we had these long two and a half hour practices or whatnot. And then we came out and we had to do these finishers. We called them ask for games late in the year like this.

And we, um, I think Coach Day has a great, did a great job preparing all of us for these moments. And yeah, we just were ready to go. We have time for just a couple more questions and clumpets so we can wrap up with our other two guys. Bill Landis, Kingston the North. Brandon, um, sure. Maybe on the second touchdown run. It seemed like you took two players out of the play first with your release and then with the guy you actually blocked. Is that, is that how it's designed? Or was it just, was it lucky to the guy decided to take off inside of the release? Um, it's actually designed for me to block the safety and lead the corner 101 with the running back. Um, but I was surprised at the corner. I see came in so far in my release. I think he thought it was a pass. Um, but I think he was the edge of the defense. If you go watch that play, but I don't know, I, I don't really know why he came in so far, but it helped out for us. And I made my block interior on score. Is there any lesson there for, for like, even a young receiver watching that, that even if you know in the play,

you're not getting the ball, you're, you're intended to block, but you, you release has to be, at all point, like, as if you're going to go to pass. Yeah, definitely. Um, every little detail matters and then type of plays. We were in a red zone there. So we say every yard matters is two yards. Um, so the block I made is just a testament to Kyle. Coach Hardline, prep, prep me throughout the week to make that block. So yeah. And final question, Joy Coffin, Columbus this batch. Brandon Will and then, this has been some of the ball to equal lately. Um, some of, especially the way you guys have opened games. What do you think is this quick for you guys and for him and watching those plays? Um, a lot more confidence. I say throughout the year. Um, we were always there as offense. We had, we didn't know, we didn't quite know our identity. And now slowly but surely, I think we found that and we're going to keep on rolling. And, um, he's made some great throws and, yeah. I'm sorry, Brandon, I do have one more steep. How many do the 24-7s for? Yeah, Brandon, there've been opportunities for you to play a huge role on offense.

And, you know, the number of plays you play in game can differ from one week to the next. But the opportunity is coming sooner rather than later for you to be in every down player. Just what are the things you need to do in your game to take it from where it is now to be in every down guy? Um, I think there's a lot of things I could work on in my game. Um, I would say continuing to be football smart by IQ. And just knowing what the defense is going to do before they do it. Um, about routes always can get better. My hands always can get better staying on the jug machine. Um, work ethic, keep on top of it. Don't get, don't get satisfied with anything I do. And don't, don't get too big, don't get too low, don't get too high, don't get too low. It's what they say. You feel like a guy that, that people follow, it seems like just, in your mind, even though just second, your guy that you're kind of working toward being kind of a leadership type guy. Um, I got to have guys that will take that role. Yeah. Um, it's a great feeling.

Of course, the, no guys are watching what you do and listening to what you do. Um, but I just feel like we do that with a lot of players here and not just myself, but, um, the leadership we have on this team is like no other. And that's why we got so far, I think. Brandon, thank you very much. What's it to you about the possibility of going into this season for you? You just kept up. I mean, it means that they can happen really soon. I must have to learn right now. Because it seemed like it's a big, big club. I mean, how would you describe it? I mean, I guess you just got to learn everything slowly. Of course, there's a lot to learn. Um, but I got a lot of hope. You guys had a very unique experience all the early and early needs. You got a chance to go to, you know, semi final. Some of you went to the Rose Bowl. There's nothing caught in a little national championship game. What was that like? How much do you think that helped you? Uh, that was incredible. You just see how other leaders led in that position and just seeing what they did and how they prepared.

That's not helping out with everybody. What was the highlight of that, that time, other than winning the national championship? Is there something that stands out to you? Uh, just being able to, uh, trouble and get the meat on everybody, meat all the players. Um, everybody I won an addy and meat all early and early is that early. It's been a most difficult part of making the transition from Liza. What has been the hardest part? I was really just living on my own. You got to be independent. That's pretty much it though. Do you feel comfortable on that? Are you still trying to get, you know, trying to set up this college? I mean, of course, there's adjustment, but I'm getting the justice for you. How long have you been sitting here? Uh, yes, your money is 100%. You have been sitting here anything? Uh, no. I just started all of this down here in the city area. I mean, of course, I was talking this last year, last year kind of was in my best friend's place. What did you do to you? I think you did my hand right? Uh, it was an empty real, really.

Sorry to ask you, but how did you get your shirt in college? Uh, really, it was just I was a baby, my dad, my dad and my monster. I was like, I was like, I was one. Like, once I was born, it was forever. Why did you invite a baby like that? Uh, my dad looked up to me and I'm a junior, so I swear to God. I think you should be your first name in the heart, right? Yeah. Okay, so you could wear eight, too. You got two choices. It's a desire that can be addicted for people. I think I fell into that, I know a younger age, but super class, that's not who I am. Did you say it again? I watched the last episode of Land Band on the planet, downloaded its direction.

What you can get there? I don't know that, this wife seems don't like hold her. I don't know how he handles it. It's a good show. The viewer seems to be coming on the come-up with all this mineral rights. I'm excited to see how it goes. What did you think of the jury? Oh, I thought you did a good job. I was surprised, honestly. It seemed like you knew what you was doing. It was a good show. So you didn't even put your question. You say you hit your mom in the salary. You guess you win it all. You're going to get a pay raise or... I don't know what to talk about that. Just sure, have a meeting or something. Make a meeting? I'll figure it out. Everybody seems to have a meeting about each other. What do you want to do? What do you want to do? I'm not going to tell you much of what you are doing. I'm just going to do a real election. It's getting out there in the year. Is that another people's chance?

That's my final matter, Sir. Yeah. Well, at first off, I think I'd be doing this service to my teammates. You know, we even think of what's next. What's right in front of us is an over-year. I mean, so much grew is just being present in every single moment that I'm in. You know, not looking too far ahead because I'm tripping on what's right in front of me. So, you know, that's too so for sure of the thing. It's immediate to be thinking about what's next to it. You're at least aware that there's a lot of speculation out there that people are going to throw a huge number of things that you're going to go into the border all the season. I mean, right now I'm just not worried about all that stuff. People can say all they want to say, but you know, I'm just focused on the focus on Friday night. Nervous? I mean, I still get nervous for sure, but I just don't think. I think I do have to help just understanding that

at that moment, whatever moment it is that I'm nervous about, it doesn't define who I am as a person, and it doesn't define who I am and God's eyes. And understanding and knowing that has just kind of put like this forceful to piece around me that I think it allows me to be able to be calm in certain situations, but it doesn't, that's not good nervous. It's not good nervous. What makes you nervous? I mean, I just love the game so much. If you don't get nervous or a little bit of nervous because I don't think you have that same love. I mean, I've got butterflies since going into football games and so I was, you know, five, six years old. So I don't know if that feels like this could happen. I don't know, I just, you know, football just doesn't mean as much as it did to me back then. I want it to always be that much. I've been told.

I'm playing as much so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot. I should have real thought about it because he was hurt. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man up behind you and Ty. What have you seen in the match? Well, it was a workhorse. He, he's going to stay quiet. He's going to work hard. And that's all I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. Rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship. A ring. When all the games we don't want to lose anything, we got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so. You guys have all come back to this. You guys have all decided like that. That's a lot of things. Is that is to keep feeling different?

Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger going home. We're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's kind of a coach makes a saying. You know, nobody cares. Just work harder like those. You know, we'll play Georgia. The same thing. Last. Last play. You know, they went on the win in 90. So. We just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles.

Of course, it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working hard, but then you always find out there's a little more. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought freshman year I was working as hard as I could, but not look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all. Compared to what I'm doing now, so just to learn anything. If the stamina is a 16, then the answer to what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. The idea of the potential is 16, 17, 17, 17. I said about that idea, does it make you nervous about, can you last that long?

Do you have worries? I think I'm going to kill that out there. I think I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys that come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps a game. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody, like, online, D-line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D-line and the O-line and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of that, let's play in the dark. Did you like playing that new snap to the end? Not sure if it doesn't. I don't know if any of us were really expected to play that next time. Uh, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a line. Uh, I thought like, there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games, like, you know, Northern DMT or North, those kind of games. Of course I want to be in because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald is he got the key. Have you guys ever seen him? Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. You haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now.

He has to work at the, he just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th or 3.27, he's 3.26. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guys, there's that large group of young guys and then there's these seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We've got to be leaders. Like I said, we've got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we've got to get them right, burn the offseason so they can play. And I just played and want to like contribute, like make plays tackles sex. It seems like these guys get bigger. Each one of the first time in class is a bigger, bigger. Do those guys kind of, those are going to kind of while you're in the cell? Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too when I'm passing on.

But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I have to say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. I'm going to put this notes. It feels like there's a lot of great defense. You have big athletic defense attackers who can eat up space. But also, you know, right? Because that's an inquire that maybe through great defense. To have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great finger. I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of national champions and winners, like Team up North, they got two good detacled, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. So I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they want to fight by the defense attackers. Like, what's Georgia? Jordan Davis and James Carter. Let's miss you again. It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. You might wonder how, I mean, you understand it because you play it.

But I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense attackers are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakish attacks, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles. But I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch it come on. I watch the dude do the drills. I have T.T. You're like, you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all those guys. Can you become like an artist who comes to the bad guy and passes the thing away? I mean, when you're going to bring practice, you're not doing as much a weapon of a weapon. That's the best. How do you work on that? Do you have like a gold one? I don't remember how much I've lost. You're like, you have gold in my eyes. How many do you want to have?

I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that. But I think it counts. I think they count some of them. And it's some of them where I like just missed it. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big and we do as a D line, you know, just affecting the quarterback. It's anyway you can. It's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our players. So it's something that you really, really have to work on. It's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You can bring your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that pass, you can just do that. We don't have to ask. We're kind of kind of expected. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he throws it to me. I'm irritated if you like to be a high state quarterback. You're coming to your back down passes. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better.

Yeah, a lot of, a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. One, two, three. I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Auto, he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing well with Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great lead, such a great leader, man. It's like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. And he just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. What do you think James P. What do you think James P. Yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man. He's on Coach Lock.

I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James P. He's smart the way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature. And so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartlum, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well. You know, I'm just learning from him as well. You know, I'm trying to run more routes. I think that's what I'm going to remember. I'm going to be able to do that. I'm going to be able to do that. You know, I'm just learning from him as well. You know, I'm trying to run more routes out the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartlum. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. What's your intensity, man? And intensity out of playoffs. Every game, man. It's like the intensity got higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing.

Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work. Just like Ohio State. You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship. And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at your performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job. I mean, that was a pretty good year. The Bucking Nears.

No, I haven't. Do you think it's a city Tampa? Tampa, Tampa. Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. I think it's a city. The 40, the broad and the vert. You've been on the praises and awesome blocker. Do you speak to your mentality of like when you've got a linebacker, the gaffer, the gaffer, the finger that you and you can get ready to score a ball. Yeah. Yeah, no, man. It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receiver, so I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's like, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit. You know, and so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed.

You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now when you need to score a ball? In my game. You can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like. It's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, people say you look like a lot of people are out there. You get back in nursing. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera. Sure, yeah, man, I have a Camera. Great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. Yeah.

Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. And man, man, coverage. You're getting on that line backer. And so. Yeah, I say the man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot, I don't know, every good, I think he had it. Every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely, man, he's going to be a special player, man. He really is.

Man, a lot of ups and downs, man, it's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. It's just, I'm not having something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't, it's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort. You know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. So, which aspect can be to those other individuals that you run to the bottom and from being around power to heaven?

Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Am I just really loved their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man. That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, stiff arm and somebody and shoot, it's a game to 10. And so, I think, yeah, man, I think it just like, he's just gifted, man, to be honest. He's gifted, you know, he's, he's a big back, you know, he's strong. And so, you know, he's, he's able to do, he's able to do those things. And so, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at this game and it's like, man, where, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player.

What's your last one to treat? Julian San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, container, grow as a leader, container, grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for a high state. He's, I know just the quarterback position. I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the, and lead the offense and lead the team. Thanks, guys. Thanks, guys. Shoot, man, he has, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And I kind of see them, you know, similar, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is great. I remember before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every one of his years here, like,

four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going. You get back. This. Thank you.

I'm going to be a little bit more in the back. I'm going to be a little bit more in the back. I'm going to be a little bit more in the back. Well, I got coming in last year. I knew the road. So I just attacked every day. Really the same way. You wait wise, body wise, all that from the year ago. I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240. I'm like 244 right now. Last year I played at like 236, 237. What does it feel like 244 or bell? You feel like an almost a different machine out there. What does it feel like to be running around out there? Like you are with more more bands. I just feel like I'm like like more downhill, like stronger. Like I'm taking all the bloods better. I'm going to be playing much more than you did last year. You played quite a bit last year and stuff.

What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? I just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps. How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8th standpoint? I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. It's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, we're open like that. We've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming. So we know we got to do what we prepared for it. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he in the book. He studied in like he advanced. You know? Yeah, I'm ready for it. Yeah, I'm ready for it. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like. like he events and his measurements is crazy like he saw like saw like to. You said you're ready. What was that process like during last season?

Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? The team needed. Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was, which is whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly I think I'm there. I asked a one more time. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more.

And what word? I was by word to watch. Uh, I say. Scrabbing. Now I say like when you think of me, you would think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet. I don't really. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but I'll say that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've got more questions for Trisha's style and how it's free. I mean, how does that fit you? And what are you going to show me about bullying in that kind of side? Um, think of fit me because I don't know. I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we moving around a lot, a lot of the terms is like, no, I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that. You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe. And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's

like, I just like his deep, I like how Trisha deep is. I like what he got going on. What was it? Sadness. Yeah. Uh, no, I wanted to much sad. That was kind of like happy fun. That's what you want. No. All right. That's my dog. I'm going to say it kind of missing a little bit. But yeah, I'm happy fun. Well, thank you. Go ahead. One last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship. You guys will win your own. How much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year, but we'll be in this bigger role and I want to sum your Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a national championship, but like you said, my role wasn't same as how's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling with me, be on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bell, thank you very much. I've been using you, you know, and that almost saved you row of stuff.

How much is it grown that you can put your finger on? Yeah, I was growing immensely. I mean, Caleb, he makes a lot of checks. Latham makes a lot of checks. I listen to them, whatever they need. If I need to cover somebody, I'll go cover anybody that they need me to do run support. I'll do run support. And it's really what Caleb does. What we do and Latham, it just goes back to Coach G's preparation and everyone's preparation to give us more flexibility and doesn't matter who's in those positions. And we can all play every position, whether it's covering somebody or running, running and tackling. Did you feel like that was the case before the Oregon game? You're saying what I'm saying? I mean, is it something that's been added to just, you know, rely on a little bit more? Go ahead. Yeah, it did. I've probably been a brassica game, a meaghan and more safety reps. And we had a five week to prepare. So I really learned to play book a lot more. Even though I knew the playbook, I learned a lot more. Mount like in debt, you know, so really just after the Oregon game, it helped me a lot to go back to safety, go to Neku everywhere.

Thanks. 11 more. Do you guys had a lot of issues of giving up big plays in the passing game of the first game against Oregon? What do you feel like you guys need to do better this time around to make sure that doesn't happen? Just the same same mindset. We got to challenge these receivers. You know, every dog has their day. Maybe some people didn't have their day that game, but we'll look out there and hopefully change the narrative. And we still play with the same confidence, same technique and, yeah, Bill Rebellion, let's miss this batch. And Denzel obviously had a tough game and that one. What have you seen from him and how he's responded? Do you get a sense of from him? How he is for this rematch? Oh, yeah, he's super stoked for this rematch. His preparation has been very good. He's always been preparing, you know, it didn't go the way he wanted to go that game, but he just always had his confidence and we're going to see a big game out of him this week. And, you know, I know you guys wanted to play them in anapolis,

but the fact that you get to play them at the Rose Bowl, I mean, get a second chance. And people have said he don't get that very often. How determined are you guys to take advantage of it? We're super, super determined. We watched film. I mean, we've lost a lot of film. The first time we played them, now we just got another six games that they played of film to watch. And it's just they've grown a lot as a team. Same as us. We've grown a lot. We're not the same team. We were when we played them week one or weeks six or whatever, but now we're out there and going to play fast, physical and everything like that. All right, Jordan, we're going to jump to the to assume a question here from Joey Kaufman. Columbus, this fact, my bad, not too, Joey. Cameron T. Robinson, the athletic. Hey, Jordan, you've moved around a lot in the second day in your career. And now kind of getting some many more safety reps. What is it like at this point when Walt or our coach knows comes to you and asks you to do some else and just how much can you lean on the experiences you've had and

moving around when you're trying to learn something new in the middle of the season? Meas a lot. We always talk about this is even being on selfish. Whether that's making plays or not making plays or doing your job so another person can make plays. That's kind of what we pride ourselves on. And it's just fun. Me moving around different positions. I'm always up for a new challenge and a lot of people in the country can't do that. I just hold myself to that standard where I can play any position and excel at it. Okay. If anybody else needs a question, let me know. But otherwise we're going to go to Austin more of the podcast. Jordan, when you were talking about watching film Oregon, which one do you think is more valuable to you watching that against yourself? You know, seven games ago, even if you've changed or the ensuing six games for Oregon, which one do you put more stock in? Kind of both. For me, I kind of watch what I did. Things I did well, things I didn't do too well against them. And their team is saying that like this game has changed.

Some players have been out those those stretch of games. So I really watched the past game we played and I know they're going to go back to some of the stuff that they liked. Of course, and different games like Penn State, maybe Illinois, they run a lot of men. So just watching, watching stuff like that every game matters. So yeah. Jordan, thank you very much. Thank you. We plan as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been through. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out here. It's the first time it's heard all your life years. What have you seen from Lowe? Because I kind of don't like my show real for Rattabal. Because he was heard now he's running, you know, almost a second man up behind you and Ty. What have you seen in the many of those games? Well, it was a workhorse. He he goes, stay quiet. He don't work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done, do a job right. Really has any mistakes? What would be a successful season?

A national championship? A ring? When? All the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. That mindset different. Seems like you guys expect a national championship over here. This year even more so you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like that. That's a lot of things. Does that keep feeling different? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. I mean, most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home, and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute, right? You know what I mean? I mean, you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship, but you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year, like you're that close.

So I'm saying, we just like work harder. That's kind of coach makes a saying, you know, nobody cares, just work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in 90. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national title. Of course, you know, it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder, do things better than you did last year, and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you can't learn. I thought that was working hard, but then you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, French, me, I was working as hard as I could, but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. If the stamina's a 16, then the answer to it, what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, it is a 75.

I mean, 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but, I mean, it's all on me. I just gotta run harder in shape. So I can stand up to you. You got to have it. It's been a better year. The idea of a potential to 16 is 17 or 17. I mean, I've got the idea that making nervous about, can you last that long? You really need your work. You just need to listen, right? I think, I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Uh, just everybody like online, we got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the online and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of that, if you like playing that, you snap to that last year because I don't know. I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that next time. Ah, yeah, I did, unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like, there are no moments you know,

I can go sit down or something, but we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or North, those kind of games. I of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about taking McDonald's? You got the key. You guys are the second. Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's grown right now. He has to work at the, he just has to get, you know, in the playbook, things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to six three, you're three, 27, he's three, 26. Yeah, he's, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's gonna be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get in the playbook. It's really a lot on you, older guys, there's that large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in your back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work and we got to get them right,

they're in the all season, so they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like, make plays, tackle, sex. Let's stay down about this. Thank you. It seems like these guys get faces. Each and the first in the class is a bit bigger. Do those guys kind of, does it kind of allow you in the first? Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too, when I'm passing on, but throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I have to say that. And it looks like they're ready to work. I mean, I'm supporting this dude. It feels like, there's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defensive tactics who can eat up space, also, you know, right? Is that, is that an inquire that may be for great defense? To have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great scene. I think that is definitely, I think if you look at the last couple, not some championship winners, like team of Northe, you know, they got two good, detaco, two athletic detacos.

Look at Georgia, two athletic detacos. I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run, and beat those big teams. If you think about that, they're not defined by the defense. What's Georgia, Jordan Davis and James Carter? What's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. What is one of the how? I mean, you understand it. You play it, but I feel like some time, I don't know, people realizing how important defense tackles are. A little bit more than they used to. I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacos. Yeah, like in the combines, it's not you seeing like those guys, they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about this freakish out there, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player? Will you watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacos, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, I watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have tape to you like, look at my film.

So I think I'm up there with all those. I'm like, do you become like a artist and you're going to back down the passes. I think your legs have your things. I mean, you're going to bring frags and you're not doing as much 11 or 11. That's how you work on that. Do you have like a goal one, Marge? I don't remember how many dad lives you're like, you have a goal in my study? Five, how many do you want to have? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think he said it on the board. I think they can count some of them. And it's some of them where I like just missed it. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that goes big and what we do is a deline, you know, just affecting the quarterback is anyway you can. It's just great for the defense, you know, just that little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it a little bit to the left to our players. So, so let's something that you really, really have to work on. And what it is, it's very, that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most to get through your time here, because there are a few guys that I've seen like, oh, that pass through the back of the house. It takes a little bit,

we don't have to ask the stri- kind of expected. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of, I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him I load up, I just try to get in his way and sometimes he just throws it to me. I don't know. I'm irritated if you like to be a high-speed quarterback. You're a bad dumb pass. I mean, they get frustrated, but you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. I should lot of different backs, man, they just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs, and then you have to go right now. One, two, three. Uh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and, I like McCaffrey. Although he was injured this year, I like McCaffrey. I appreciate it. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I'll lead that out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing well with Howard, when I'm going to remember most.

We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He, just the leader that he was, man, that's one thing I'm gonna remember about him. What do you think of James Key? Yeah, he's, he's gonna be really good, man. He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're gonna be really good backs. And so James, people's, man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man, he's mature and so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. Right on the right hand, I'm looking at the U of C spot and I'm just helping raise new personality and the coach, help keep that up, and so make the same move. Yeah, Coach, Coach Hartlin, man. He's full of energy, man. He's creative as well, you know, just learning from him as well, you know, trying to run more outside the backfield, was being able to learn from Coach Hartlin.

And so he's definitely creative at what he does and he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Straight away, he's gonna play on the line. That's what we play straight to. Just intensity, man. And since he got the playoffs, every game, man, is like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing, even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you gotta bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio State. You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State, they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember, even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship.

And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at Yolkmer's performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job. I mean, that was a pretty good issue. The buck in the ears, no, I haven't. We think it's City Tampa. Tampa, Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40, the broad and the vert. Previous is an awesome locker. It needs to be pure mentality of like when you've got a linebacker, so you can dig that out, and you can figure that out when you're in ready to swear. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, nah, man. It's really all about technique, and then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Wil Howard. It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked.

And I told Wil, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's like, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit. And so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure that the ball get in their hands, the guys on the outside, and making sure they get fed. So, you had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game, you can't really work on this. In all season, I feel like it's more so. You got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's one of the areas in my game. I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, people, you look like a lot tomorrow. If I can ever say, I'd be mad with a different one. I did meet with New Orleans as well.

I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I haven't come here. Shoot, yeah, man. I have come here great, back, man. Just what he does, and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie, he's smooth. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. And man, man coverage, you're getting on that line backer. And so. Yeah, I say to man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man, and the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, he's going to work every single week. Every practice, he's working hard. Even shooting.

I don't know. I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely, man, he's going to be a special player, man. He really is. Man, a lot of ups and downs, man, it's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. It's just not have something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You can run to people, but they still can't. It's not too much. They can't truly help you. I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, he gives you in those moments where it's tough, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace

and comfort. Even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain, it's like, man, I'm going through this, but how am I still filled with this internal joy? How do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so... You know, the back of the firm, Peterson Power and Judge Alexander's Spirit, which aspect did he do those other individuals like you who are to follow and from being around power and... Man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. I just really love their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quintia, I'm a mentality man. That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted. You see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And then as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, stiff-arming somebody and shoot, it's a game to 10. And so...

Yeah. Shoot, I think... Yeah, man, I think it's just like... He's just gifted, man, too, beyond. And he's just gifted. You know, he's a big back. You know, he's strong. And so, you know, he's able to do those things. And so, yeah, man, it's definitely... You know, I look at his game and I want to... You know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quintia. You know, I want to look at his game and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. Julian Sand. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great... He's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so accurate. And so, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, Quintina grow as a leader, Quintina grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for a high state. He's... I know just the quarterback position. I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask of Julian Sand as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the offense

and lead the team. Shoot, man, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And I kind of see them, you know, similar to his inner game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is great. I remember before I recruited, before I committed it here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every... Every one of his years here, like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see James people, I see similarities to both of their games, I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all, you have to go.

Yeah. Well, I got coming in last year, I knew the role, so I just tacked Eric Dave really the same way. Thanks for coming. I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, you know, like 240, 4 right now. Last year, I played at like 236, 237. What does it feel like at 244? Or maybe I'll be able to feel like a almost a different machine out there. Yeah, like a... What does it feel like to be running around out there like you are? But with more, more back. I just feel like I'm like, like more downhill, like stronger, like I'm taking all blocks better. It's a big move.

Is it daunting? Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year instead of... What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? Just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps. So... But are you... How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8-stand point? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My turn. The text is open. It's a rematch. So it's... But it's not really two different teams. Compared to the ones that I'm going to play and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming, so we know we got to do it. We've been preparing for it. I already just probably worked today. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman. He ended up here in the book. He studied in like he advanced. And his measurements was crazy. Like he saw it on the saw line too.

I'm like, you said you're ready. You know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? So whatever the team needed for you? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that feeling this year than last year? That's the most possible thing I've ever had. Oh, that's the one more time. How different is that responsibility? That should be that you could just be emotional. Call that. If you were last year, who knew you were a home player? I feel like it's a way. It's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing.

It's probably a little bit more. For somebody who's somewhere you can never see, it's probably a little bit too dark. It won't work? How's anybody worked your way? I say... Scrabbing. When you think of me, you would think of like a bully, like a silver bullet. I don't really a bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. You know what I mean? No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but... I'm not saying that the nickname... Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's it. I've got a more professional style and how it's free. I mean, how does that fit you? What are you doing with your ring about bullying and that kind of style? I think it fit me because... I don't know, I just like the defense. I feel like we got... Like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we moving around a lot... A lot of the terms is like, no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that.

That's okay, does it? You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe? And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like... I just like his defense. I like how the pressure is different. I like what he got going on. What was it sad when CJ left the ring? Uh... No, I wanted to say that. I was kind of like happy fun. Like, yeah, that's what you want. Don't miss him in there? No. No. All right. No, that's my dog. I'm going to say, yeah. Kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy fun, though. Well, don't thank you. Go ahead, one last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for, you know, that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own. Yeah. How much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and a lot in the summer year in the past? Yeah, I do feel like... Yeah, I do feel like I did win a Natty last year, but like you said, my role wasn't the same as how it was going to be this year.

So, yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that, like, feeling we may be on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. I'm so happy. I mean, I actually think we'll use it technically right now. Sometimes, like, basketball, I want to be on that just like the fed, but, you know, I'm going to stay in the stitch going some last year. Exactly. Yeah. That's a great question. I mean, I feel like these two can answer that for the beer right now. I think KJ and Nero can answer that. Well, I don't know what to say about that. What do you guys think? I don't know. I don't know. I go against every day. You know, this man is strong. Ready? I'm talking about, like, you get the basketball here. You know, you can't just do it. I guess I know the people are kind of really fast, but just the whole way I'm straight. And he got the grip there. He doesn't get up on the plane. Like, you said, he's going to go in there and watch the film. He's doing everything he can to the better man. He's just seeing a hundred people. I'm like, just one. Now, I'm like, it's not even possible. I just want to go. I'm like, I'm going to go. I'm going to go.

I'm going to go. I'm going to go. You know, that's not even possible. But I'm going to go. Here, can you just follow us around all the time? He's not like a coach, man. He's not like a coach. You should tell us in full exchange, your mind, about maybe like the idea of tack over his job. Obviously, it's offensive predilections for like offensive line play. That's you can, apart from you settle in the gut. I would say, maybe I don't know, but I mean, I'm going to go. I know, but I mean, when I'm, when I'm for sure, you got the job, I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo. I can run with the tempo, you know what I mean? I'm playing basketball all I can set up football and I feel like just the fast pace often, so we're running. It really fits the guys we have right now on really exciting. I know you can throw a football, 65 yards, but can you kick a football? 75 yards, I think. Lincoln. No. I probably question Lincoln. What was your question? How is your, your roommate, I can view. He's a blessing, man.

I can't complain. He's a great guy. What's his name? His name's Lincoln. Keen Hose. What's Klaner? Ooh, he's Klaner. I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of take each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our burdens really messy. Well, it's true though. It's true. They're both pretty clean. Luke, are you still a cross-training at Tag Bullsom or have you just been off guard this spring? Oh, so far I've been off guard. I really don't know. Like I said, I'm taking it practice, I practice. I could end up being back attack, I could not, but you know, I'm just really focused in on this past practice and the next one is fun. What does it mean? You know what I mean? Yeah. Oh, that mean a lot. You know, you put a lot of work in to play here. It's been a dream just for being in Ohio kid. I'm from Ohio kid's perspective. I mean, that's the biggest switch possible. I would say that's going to be pretty cool. What was it like to sponsor your first game getting on the field for the first time we're going to go? It didn't, like, this is going to be a weird answer, but it didn't feel like I was playing a game yet, if that makes sense.

I was pretty locked in. I felt like just no anxiousness, no stress, no nothing. I just went in that first game. I was like, shoot on here now. It's time to roll. You know, it didn't really hit me. I was like, it didn't even hit me after. I was like, no, mom, what would you feel there? And if like getting out there at Indiana, I was just like, honestly, I don't know. I felt less nervous than I did in high school and it makes no sense. What is it that you're going to do? What have you seen there in high school? I mean, it's a shame. I mean, I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin. I think prior to one of my biggest role models here is my bigger brother when I first came in. So I'm a PD. No, I'm not. It's a PD. Okay. Yeah, no. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, PD and Austin, those are my guys, man. I mean, even Miles too. I mean, all three of them. Those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well. I'm excited to see where they can get to. I'm excited to plan and feel with them. Oh, yeah, you know, it's been really helpful. You know, just keeping my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play. It's a great question.

Like I said, I mean, I just need to take consistent in my work. I think that's the biggest thing for me is just taking consistent and worried about the next play. So you got it from the guy you were in the play. Yeah. Wow, that's weird. Yeah, that's mean, I guess they didn't want to get my nerves up, but like I was ready. I mean, I did, I took most of the ones. Perhaps all camping. I mean, I was already, I was pretty much that I wasn't really nervous to start the game. What was his advice to you? Yeah. He said, you got it. You mean, you're going against Ty League and Kyle every day and practice. I mean, it's not different. Almost different. You now, though, do we tend to get two starts in the game as a player, you know, having, having that under your belt? I mean, I'm more confident. I know what's going on. I can see like, I can see what's going on with the defense. I know what's going on. I know what's coming. I mean, I understand the game's a lot better than what it was. I don't say that last year. Which adds up to what? Fast, fast, sharp, and me, etc. Yeah. You playing with that dust for a while?

I mean, we get out early. It's you get the defense change in place. It's like, it's changing their defense. You start fast. I mean, they're trying to get the call in the play, but you start fast. I'm not going to back. You're going to touch a lot of touchdowns. Yeah, of course, Dave is pretty much dead, though. You deserve to play, man. You know, let's come forward and fast. What would you expect this week in terms of your role? Um, wherever they need me, if it's left right, wherever it's, I think it's going. I go in and go in and just talk to you in front of me. I like playing tackle. Um, took me back to high school days, but I should back it up. I should back in high school, I wasn't really random ball a lot. We really didn't do any passes, but it was fun. Change and we got my feet better, I would say. How confident you feel like you could play there if you need? If they want me there, I'll get some play there. I mean, they need me. They need me. Also in the illness that swept through the office of the line room. A lot of times, coaches and players have said that I was still relying for the groom.

You know, getting you experience among others. What was that like for you and double dipping, playing some tackle, playing some guard, the same practice. Um, it was based like a group effort like for me, new, we had guys out. We just had to go back practice. Um, all five guys, there's wherever they were playing, we just got to go. How much of that accelerate your development, like that time with the ones you were actually going? They really said it then. Um, I was jumped in there. I didn't really know. So we like one or two practices with practices, but like after those, I was like, I would get my confidence through. Um, yeah. It seemed like you're sort of a settling in process for you and the Akron game. Maybe play got better at the game when on it. Especially in the ground game, things seem to take off. But was there a moment when it clicked on the field for you? Like was there nerves and then a time of settling in? I guess how? Take me through kind of that first game mentally. Yeah. Um, first game, obviously you can have nerves for the first time, so I'm sorry.

But then like after the first couple of plays, meaning I'm nerves naturally. So that's the first couple of play that was good. I was just rolling. Also, it was a weird. I was trying to play the whole state was also the first start. Yeah. Um, you, yeah, it's, but like, I prepared well. And camp and practice all week. And I was, I was ready. Um, yeah, I have two multi year starters. I did a lot. I mean, I couldn't ask them, hey, what we got here, but I was prepared well. I mean, I was telling Jimmy and said, it's like a way or blocks. I'll be emotional. It was just, it's a guy from Ohio. What does it mean to start it? It was always my dream to come here and play and start. And having that like me, I just like keep going, keep building those days and go to games and keep building. What a much younger Austin, don't you?

No, not, I don't think even I told my like, I asked my younger self, even committed here. I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts. Awesome. Has this happened faster than you had been doing? I guess you're technically a sophomore. No, I knew that year two, I was going to see you some playing time. Now starting week one, year two, I didn't see that, but like I was ready. I didn't spring ball. Like a new, I was going, I was going to play some soft games. But, so, what does it mean to you to, it's not only get the opportunity to play, but it's like you played well enough now. And coaching staff trust you, you've been able to get the flip out there and whatever the situation was. So, it's a earn that so early on the year. I guess it shows like my preparation, my hard work and just everything I put into this and I just finally show up on a field. There are moments, the top season, the end of the spring, training camp.

I don't realize that you could play at this high level, with the ones, you know, if you needed to. Yeah, the definitely was in a training camp. I mean, black and highly can tie every day. Like it feels, it feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting balled or anything. There is defensive tag wasn't that easy. Hero in Jason Moore in Taiwan, all those guys. Pretty much anyone on the defensive line gets your face all the time. And Kay and Mack as well. Yeah. We've heard a lot of them. I would work like the power of up the stability and the great thing is a lot. How much can he help you? He helped me a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not someone else's. But I mean, he's like the captain of the line. He's another voice on the line with guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons, Donnie and Tiger. That means another voice and another captain of the look ways of having the men and women.

That's much experience. You're in the middle of the line. I mean, a lot. He can tell you, like before the play was going on, how to block someone or what you need to do. And it helps a lot. Tiger is talking about how calm he is. How much does that fit in between you and the guys who's kind of been there and seen the line? It makes us more calm. Especially me and Tay does our first start. We were up here with Seth. He brought us down. We were fine. Our emotions weren't high. We settled in. Is that something he tells you? Is that something you could pick up on by how he's acting? How do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to do? It's by how he's acting. And what I mean, him, when we're on the side of him, both Josh and Donnie, he was telling us, like, we're cool. We got it. But it's pretty much like everyone. I said, how much do the first time started? How much did the end that? Me and a lot.

That was my first time ever using iPads. We didn't use the iPads in high school. But you can say, like, try to remember the defense. You can just come on a silent and bring up a play and get help. Really. Probably the first or second after that. I thought we'd say all right. Great. Awesome. Thank you very much. The training part is important. But it's not the whole thing. They're getting bigger and stronger. Yeah. It's like the culture part. Yeah. How much of the fact is that in a part of the team? It's a lot. I mean, I feel like you can't be able to transform your body. Like I have, like people here come and do that without having that mentality part with it. It's like we always talk about competitions here. Our culture is fight. So we're always here to compete. And I feel like that is just that's what gets you in this mindset. When you talk about that transformation, can you just give us a little sense maybe with numbers or body fat or like what you do in the weight group?

How big is that transformation? I don't have really specific numbers, but I just like. It's more just like I can just I feel like feeling when I'm playing like I remember how I felt the play. When I just got here and now I know how how it feels to play like like like just today like it feels physically different on my body. And it's like it's just it's I'm getting used to it. That makes sense. I can't imagine feeling like that. Padilla also said about you that you are just a completely different guy from last year. You hear the word this year? Let's get it done. So you're here. Do you feel like you weren't at that place mentally? I think I was, but I think I had some. I would say like kind of like confidence issues like I was just but you know, I mean. I work past it and I know I can I know who I am and I know I can be here.

So the past confidence issues, I guess, is it yourself as teammates? Is there someone in your family that makes you believe that you can do it? I know I can do it. It's not like that's those are those are all it's on the past now. Did the past of play time in a very obvious opportunity guys had the stuff up with the other bit? Does that help you kind of get over that confidence issue there because it's now a memory since your opportunity. So kind of is just like. Just I mean it's just just being here like I feel like being here every day working with the guys every day. It's like you know you become this person that you might not have like. You might not have like felt like you were before that but like coming here working every day stacking these days like. Like you know, I mean I just feel like I realized who I am and I know what I can do now.

Well I want to maybe I'll be able to have this for a moment. Are you? This is a second type of like. So that you actually belong here. I knew I knew I could play here. I mean it's just it was like the like I just I don't know how to explain it. I just like I've always known I could play here. It's just I'm just like let's go like I'm ready like I'm ready to attack. What are guys the room to help you to figure that out? For sure I think KJ was a big influence tie Hamilton and Tileek they all they all helped me a bunch last year kind of just pushing through you know. I really plan as much so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt so I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot of it. One of those younger guys we're seeing it right here. It's the first time it's heard all your last years. What have you seen from well because I feel like last year we all forgot about it because he's heard now he's running you know almost a second man out behind you and Tile.

What have you seen you remember? Well as a workhorse he he goes stay quiet you go and work hard and that's all I love about him. He focuses he don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done do a job right. Rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? The National Championship? I ring when all the games we want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't beat and we just got to go show it. That mindset different. Seems like you guys expect the national championship every year this year even more so you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like enough is enough. Does that keep feeling different or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this so we got to go go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan but when you look at what they did they won the National Championship and you guys took them down to the final minute.

Right? You know what I mean? You were right there something goes a little different you guys could have been one that came against them. Does that tell you anything about like that hey you guys want to win a national championship but you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's kind of coach makes a saying you know nobody cares work harder like those you know we'll play Georgia the same thing. Last last play you know they went on the winning atty so we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that you're that close against the last two national titles? Of course as you know it's frustrating but you can't change the outcome you can't really dwell on it. You just got to you know come back and work harder do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older you kind of learn and I thought I was working hard and you always find out there's a little more you could have been doing. Yeah definitely I mean that's how that's what growing up is basically in college and I thought freshman year I was working.

It's hard as I could but not look back at it I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now so just to learn anything. But the stamina is a 16. What do you need it to be to be your best? Uh 80 85 I mean I can it's all on me I just I think it's a little higher I was just trying to be funny but I mean it's all on me I just got to run harder. Yeah the shape. The idea of the potential is 16 and 17 and 17. I think I think I definitely can last I was just you know we got to get the young guys to come along with us we can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies just everybody like online D line we got to get those younger guys to play you know get that pieces on the D line and all on and everywhere else so we can last that.

Speaking of the type of life plan that you like playing that new snap to game last year because I don't know if any of us were expected to play that next time. Yeah I did unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know I can go sit down or something but we're playing them big games like you know Notre Dame to North those kind of games. Of course I want to be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald's you guys that you guys know second? Yeah definitely came back as a came back to animal y'all you haven't really seen it yet but in practice he shows all the time he's just he's growing right now he has to work at the he just has to get you know in the playbook things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen you're both listening six three you're three twenty seven he's three twenty six. Yeah he's I kind of look at him like my my junior but you know came out he's going to be a great player he's just got to develop more and getting a playbook. So really a lot on you older guys there's that large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in the back as part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well.

Yeah definitely we got to be leaders like I said we got to have them play this year we can't just play all the snaps they got to get in there and get some work and we got to get them right during the all season so they can play. And not just play they want to like contribute like make plays tackles sex. Yeah definitely some big dudes and they all work hard I'm going to see much of something day two. I'm not bad or but throughout the workouts they've been working hard you know they they're determined. It looks like they're ready to work. I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last couple of national championship winners like team of North they you know they got to get a detaco to athletic detacles.

I think that's definitely need if you want to go on a big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this they're going to find by the defense with actors like what's Jordan. Jordan Davis and Daniel Carter let's Michigan is Chris Jenkins. How do you understand this because you play it but I feel like sometimes I don't know are people realizing how important defense tackles are a little bit more than they used to. I think so I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freaky detacles. Yeah like in the combine just now you see in like those guys they're moving for the 478s and things like that so we'll see. And when you think about this freaky shot like how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player. You watch that and say yeah that's me. Yeah definitely I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles but I don't want to you know get a big head but you know watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have to see you like you're looking like my film so I think I'm up there.

I think you become like a artist. You can batting up passes the way you're going. You're not doing much a weapon. I don't know how many of you have a goal. I don't remember how many I've lost your click. You haven't got one last 35. I mean as many as I can have I think I have more than that but I think they're counting. I think they're counting some of them and some of them were like just missed it so but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big and what we do is a D line you know just affecting the quarter that is. Anyway you can it's just great for the defense you know just that little thing covering his eye you know he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So it's something that you really really have to work on. It's one of the things that you can maybe work on the most. You can do your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Oh that passes. It takes a bit of time. We don't have to ask this. We kind of kind of expect it.

I think I just have like a like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him like load up. I just try to get his ways and sometimes he throws it to me. I'm here to do it to the Ohio State quarter. I mean they get frustrated by you know we're a team. We're just good. Yeah. Watch a lot of a lot of different backs man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs and get a pull right now. One two. I don't really have a top three but I'll give you I give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Auto he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all that's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard. What I'm going to remember most.

We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead. Such a great leader man. It's just like in moments where you know usually a lot of players they fold. Man he was just always calm and relaxed man. He just the leader that he was man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah. He's shoot. He's going to be really good man. He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man. He's smart the way that he goes about his business man. He's mature and so man. He's growing you know just as a person and as a player. And so man. Yeah definitely Ohio State you know that running back room is in great hands. Yeah coach coach Heartline man. He's full of energy man. And he's creative as well. You know I'm just learning from him as well. You know trying to run more outside the backfield was being able to learn from Coach Heartline.

And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Straight away. And his way to play off run. I can't wait to play. That's what my strength is. Just the intensity man. And since he got the playoffs. Every game man is like the intensity got you know higher and higher. And so you know being able I know in the lead it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs just every game and the intensity it keeps getting higher and higher. So yeah you just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work. Just like Ohio State. You know I definitely feel like Ohio State they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know I just remember even before going through this process I'll talk to a lot of players before then. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them you know for the NFL. And so yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah I know I took a couple days off after the national championship and then shoot right after that.

I'm writing right in sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so yeah I think while trained I trained at your birth performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us man they did a really good job. The Bucking Nears. No I haven't. Temple of Tampa nice. It's a nice city man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. Yeah. Yeah. No man. It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so I say you know it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of will Howard. It's for the love of the receiver so I got on the perimeter just making sure you know first of all my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I tell will I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. And I tell will I think it was before the first game.

I was like I got your brother. It's I said man I'm not going to let you get hit you know and so I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that but I know if I did I haven't given up too many and so man it's for the love of my brother's though man making sure the ball getting their hands you know the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You know you have to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game. You can't really work on this you know in all season I feel like it's more so you know you got to put the pads on you got to go through some inside run you know maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles and so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game you know I want to continue to get better I feel like I did a good job of that my senior and so I just want to continue to build on that. Yes I did. Yes I did. So people say you look like no one is more out there. You get back in there and say you have to get back in there and say you have to get back in there. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison actually I know I have a Camarro shoe yeah man I have a Camarro great great back man just what he does and

knows 101 matchups he's dangerous man and he's so smooth he's so smooth as well I'm not going to like he smooth. Yeah inside zone from stack being able to hit that dang downhill and I say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield you know and man and man coverage you're getting on that line backer and so. Yeah I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man and the way that man he approaches the game he comes in with the mindset you know he's going to work every single week you know every practice you know he's working hard you know even shoot I don't know every good I think he had every game was a good game for him man and so but still man he always has the mentality the mindset that you know he's going to come in each and every day he's

going to continue to work and get better man and so he's definitely man he's going to be a special player man he really is. Man a lot of ups and downs man it's just how you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better is this not have something to lean on now you know I remember before I met him you know going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know you can run to people but they still can't it's not too much they can't truly help you you know I feel like you know I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ and so being able to lean on him you know he gives you in those moments where it's tough you know where it's slow and when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about he gives you he gives you that peace and comfort you know even in those moments man where it's so hard that you can't you can't explain it's like man I'm going through this but like how am I still

feel with this internal joy you know how do I have so much peace in this situation and so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so you know the back of firm of human power and justice and what aspect of each of those other individuals that you run to the bottom of the game from being around power and you know I'm not just really loving that mentality especially Q as well you know I talked about will how are his leadership but Quench on mentality man that boy just yeah that boy just gifted you know you see you know sometimes he put in a situation where you look like you know he should have a negative five yards and as soon as you know it you know he the running through somebody step on somebody and she just gained a 10 it's a yeah yeah yeah man I think it's just like he's just gifted man to be honest he's just gifted you know he's he's a big back you know he's strong and so you know he's he's able to do he's able to do those

things and so yeah man it's definitely you know I look at this game and I want to you know the same time I want to learn from Quench on you know I want to look at this game is like man where where can I get better at as well you know that's the type of player I am I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to grow as a player Julian San oh yeah he's gonna be a great but he's gonna be a great quarterback man he's so so accurate and so he's definitely man I know Coach Dez definitely going to get him right just you know I'm continuing to grow as a leader continuing to grow as a player and so he's going he's going to be really good for our state he's I know just the quarterback position I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past they've they've definitely been vocal and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask him Julian San as well it's to be that vocal leader and lead the lead the offense and lead the team shoot man he has he has a bill like JK Dobbins and I kind of see you know I'm going to see him you know similar similarities in their game as well and I know JK Dobbins he was a great running back I feel like he's not

talked about his none a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is great I remember before I recruit before I committed here I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every every one of his years here like four or five times and so man he was such a great back and I feel like you know when I see JK Dobbins when I see James people I see similarities to both of their games I feel like they play the same so I appreciate you all yeah I'm going this

to be the one I got coming in last round to the world so I just tack every day really the same way I think I got a lot bigger I'm like 240 you know like 240 for right now last year I played it like 236 to 37 what does it feel like a 244 or a billion you feel like almost a different machine out there yeah what's it what does it feel like we run around out there like you are but with more more back I just feel like I'm like like lot lot more downhill like stronger like I'm taking all blocks better it's big you see don't think maybe that's not the correct term but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year and you played quite a bit last year and stuff what do you have to

get straight in your head about being on the field that much more this is got to get ready to just play there any more snaps so I would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8 stand point I'm looking forward to it I'm ready for it I'm ready for it I'm ready for it I think Riley ready to play right now he advanced freshman like he ended he in the book he started in like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like the saw line to you said you're ready what was that process like during last season could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready

because every the team needed to do yeah because that's pretty much what my role was just never I was needed I had to step up so I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year when you say ready is it more a physical thing is it a mental thing when I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically mentally mostly I think I'm there a different is that feeling this year's analyze I'm asking one more time how different is that response bill I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year but I kind of go about it the same way like last year I was intentional with everything I did I feel like this year it's going to be the same thing it's probably a little bit more somebody you some reason and what word how many words you watch I say

describe again I say like when you think of me you think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet I don't really know what I'm always on the ball that's how I like to play a thing no I ain't I think I'll be my nickname but I'm not saying that the Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I mean how does that fit me because I don't know I just like the defense I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot a lot of the times just like no I don't know I don't really not answer that that's okay does it you can go on your instincts a little bit more baby it's not so thinking of too much I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on but it's like I just like it's deep I like I'm pretty deep I like what you got going on What was it sad when CJ left the way? No I wanted to much sad I was kind of like happy fun yeah that's what you want

No no no that's my dog I'm gonna say yeah kind of missing a little bit but yeah I'm happy fun though I don't think go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own how much do you feel that is the guy who certainly contributed last year but will be in this bigger role and along the summer year your classmates Yeah I do feel like I did win a nadi last year but like you said my role wasn't the same as how's my beaters year so yeah I definitely want to go get another one experienced that feeling maybe on the field a lot more place Great thank you very much I'm so unique offense compared to NFL especially with the way he uses receivers how do you anticipate your role changing it how do you view the offense from a receiver perspective specific Yeah I mean I think he likes to really push the ball down the field he likes to be balanced he likes to give different looks to a difference

you know we're going to not to try to get too much into it but you know we're going to use some motion move some guys around and things of that nature I think for myself I feel comfortable playing any of the positions that is that is asked whether it's the slot the outside positions and unique part about our offenses I don't think necessarily you play the X or the Z because the pit on the formation of the hash you can be the opposite you can be the X but then you're to the field now you're the Z so you got to really learn the entire concept and know where you're out in the field I think makes everybody smarter players because you don't pigeonhole yourself I just play X you know I only know this position like you get in two minutes you're the Z now you got to know what to do you may have the clear out router you may have the backside dig like you got to know what you're doing so I think he doesn't just say like we're going to do this offense he's really trying to create an offense that hits our personnel really well I feel boundary thing yeah that's a thing in college but it seems like it's more unique to clip is that is that something you're used to seeing in other offenses you've been in

yeah definitely I mean I think if if I'm on the left hash like technically I'm on the X you know I'm in the boundary but if we're on the right hash I'm still on the left side I'm really the Z in the concept because I'm to the field I'm to the strength of the tight end so I've been in offenses like is similar like that before and you know I just think he one thing I think that's really stood out as the compliments of our routes that we have so far I feel like we have a chance to really run similar stems but there's different routes off those stems and things like that which I think for receiver like myself who you get you know a really good look at DB's and they study your film they study your splits like having routes that look the same but break off a different different angles is extremely important because it feels like you have some versatility in your bag to go out with versus like you got this hit you again you're back side like that's all you got you know I mean so yeah he's just been a really good player's person to work with and he's been really

communicated with the leaders and how we want this offense to look like in some of the ideas that we may have as well so it's been a really cool transition you talk about the transitions you've heard offense in three years probably your fourth and six years yeah how do you not kind of build up some barriers yeah man I got to do this again right I think you know human nature is is always a factor in whatever you do in life but I think I try to make a conscious choice of coming in with a new year mentality each and every year and I think it's easy because we've had so many changes and it's been great working with Marcus and Jaden and Jeff and Sam all of everybody like it's been great with working with all the quarterbacks and I just have a mentality of not really being complacent like I try to really focus on the things that I I can come back better at this year and I've been working my my butt off to do that so I think the easy thing and when I was younger you're like dang like you just want that

consistency you know I mean like you want that something you could depend on but like life isn't life isn't always like that so I've been reinvigorated because of just the energy that DQ brings in so our building each and every day and and the coaches as well like it's fun competing you know what I mean and sometimes I could get lost in the grind but I think the reason why you make it here at this level is because you you fall in love with the competition of it and I think the competition breathes the success because that is really where you the iron truly sharpens iron so you know other guys are going to make plays but when you get excited to go in there and and know that the next day we're going to go right back after the defense so for myself I'm just looking forward to continue to grow with the quarterbacks that we have I'm in year six now which is extreme blessing and leader one of the leaders in our room and I just try to take the bull by the horns with that and so that's really been my focus and you know I'm

excited for another year to us it's looked like you're being more vocal on the sidelines to help young guys definitely something you decided this offseason or I think that's been a part of my maturation process as a leader I've always seen myself as somebody that was a a leader by example but from coaches and other teammates I've had over the years guys like to hear what I have to say for whatever reason sometimes you know and I think the biggest thing where I've tried to figure out where I fit in with my vocal leadership is I never wanted to be like a dictator you know I mean I never wanted to tell guys what to do or be a leader or things like that like when I say something I wanted to have power I wanted to have meaning and I hope you know the guys would feel the same way if they were to ask them that question because I want to see all these guys when man like it's hard to make it in this league and stay in a career and so anyway I could help the receivers the D.B.s I'm talking to some alignment Johnny who's who's rehabbing his foot you know what I mean like everybody has a

role and everybody has a different story and path and so if I could share what I've been through my testimony and I want to help them or do things that kind of slow down the process I'm going to try to do that because we need everybody from the rookies to the ten year vets to make this thing work so more so I try to speak to what I know and really those honest conversations that I try to have with guys where they know I'm coming from a good place and I think I'm not the type of guy where I'm just going to talk to them like if they see something like I can take a coaching point from Luke McCaffrey I could take a coaching point from day on me from Jahan from Marcus from anybody you know like I think that's what makes you a great player when you can really be coachable from anybody and not take it from a personal standpoint. Hi. Good. Going back to what you were saying about Cliff and the offense how is he as a teacher in teaching all this? Yeah I mean I think he does a really great job of making things simple first and foremost he doesn't over

and I think that's the trust that he has in our group and his coaches our position coaches to fill in the details. So we'll have an install meeting and it'll be a good amount of time but then our position coaches will have time and we'll make it specific to that position and so then we'll come in and have a walk through and then after that we'll have another walk through and so I don't think there's been a time where I've come out here and I'm kind of worried about what I got. You know what I mean and when you get into certain offices there could be so many details where you could be overwhelmed and I think then it forces kind of separates guys in a sense that like one guy may study more than another guy but when you have these these sessions that we have where we're having an installs in the morning we're having two walkthroughs and then we're coming on the field and doing it like I think you notice a lot of guys are playing a lot faster and more confident because he's keeping it simple but also he's very particular in what he's expecting but it's not a lot so there's not a pressure of to get it right but at the same

time you know it's expected of you and you know you're going to have the tools given to you to be successful out there on the field. And this offseason just the totality of change from front office players coaches the turf field. What does that been like for you just to see what's going on? It's been fun. You know I think from Mr. Harris and the entire ownership group down to Adam Peters down to DQ down to Jada who we drafted and bringing in Marcus and Jeff and all those guys and down to leaders we have on our team I think it was extremely specific on the way they tried to build this thing going into this year. First having the right people bringing in leaders bringing in guys who love to compete. The first thing that DQ said when he came here was in his first meeting like if you love to compete this is going to be the place for you. And I love it. You know I mean I love bags and going at it with the DBS every day like the little mundane stuff can seem a little boring but that's I think that was the where you make the gains during the offseason where you're really focused on I'm hey like I'm a I'm a give all I got for this day and I'm a get better and then I'm a I'm a learn from the

film and come back tomorrow and ready to do it again and he also understands like the benefits of having breaks like he's given us breaks we've had you know weeks off here in the other week and compose ourselves but then come back and give it all we got you know what I mean and when you got a coach that understands the physicality of an entire season where you guys do need breaks by the same time we're going to get after it makes it fun as a leader because you can take that to your home and be like yo we got these we got this week you know I mean that's extremely important but you know we have this little break coming up where you going to get your your money your body your soul right so coming into this season I'm really optimistic of what we can be this year and I think it started with the foundation that the ownership group and the entire staff has built and now it's on myself as a leader to continue to hone that in into the locker room but I think it's great because we have so many great leaders from all across the league who have won and we got Bobby Wagner in there you know I mean I asked a hall of famer so like you know being able to have

kind of guys like that that you can lean on that can sometimes take over that leadership role where it doesn't fall on one person I think it's extremely refreshing and knowing that everybody's on the same page and the message is the same allows you to go out there with confidence and always expected you Terry you seem to spend money many of your off seasons learning about things beyond football hobbies what have you doing in this off season so far to hobbies or increase your knowledge of this the world around you. That's a good question. Play a lot of golf as they just keep my competitive juices flowing planning the wedding that's going well and I mean I've just been grinding like honestly you know I mean I've been hungry this all season like I started working out you know pretty early and you start to see guys like coming back and it's just fun to like to be here and compete and feel like everybody's on the same page you know what I mean

and so for me I'm a grind every off season but just this one just feels like it's the start of something you know new and special and the foundation of is extremely important and to be a part of that to have a hand in that you know it's an honor you know and I put a lot of expectation on myself to come out here and be the guy that I know I'm capable of and also like taking the next step and being somebody that our quarterbacks that can trust and believe in so this all season was pretty simple for me it was really about you know working and grinding and getting better. He talked about Jayden before and so far I know we haven't seen everything but in terms of his arm strength the throws he's making anything surprising so far about the types of his ability in that regard. Definitely I think after the second or third crosser that he threw I started telling receivers like hey you got to get your head around you know I mean because again each quarterback throws the ball differently and sees the field differently so sometimes on crossers a lot of

quarterbacks may like to see you cross the ball and get into that open zone over there if it's a man flattened off they like to see you get open where him he has a really good anticipation over the middle of the field where he can make those throws and give you a chance to catch and run and he's really accountable too like we had to play today where he felt like he missed me and you know it's not a big deal at all you know I mean him and I can talk to those things and there's been a play that I've talked to him about I could do a better job but again like that open that open form of communication from a rookie I think is is very rare and I think it speaks to the confidence he knows who he is but he's also not afraid to say when he's wrong and he knows he needs room to improve but his touch on the deep balls is amazing you know I love getting extra reps with practice after practice with him we're just catching the top end of a deep ball as big for me you know I mean I get to track the ball over my shoulder and as big as I can to be able to get used to dropping the ball in the bucket but he just naturally has an ability to throw the ball he sees the windows really well and now he's just you know continue to get adjusted to the speed in the past rush I think he's these reps that he's getting

are unbelievable during 11 on 11 because he's getting to feel pain and Allen and DA and Cleveland Farrow like we got some dogs up there who want to come after him you know what I mean and we got some great guys up front who are going to protect them and so these reps I feel like are even better than just seven on seven seven on seven I think he could do in the sleep to be fair like he throws the ball really well but when you get this 11 on 11 two-minute drill you're putting them in game like situations and I'm looking them in his eye I'm like we play a real ball now like we we we plan you know I mean and you just see no no anxiousness in his game in his demeanor which is extremely exciting and and then you know he's extremely light heart and he's always smile and so he's joking with lime and D line he's just cool with everybody and like I said like for a rookie quarterback to come in like that where guys are gravitating to him and he's not afraid to be who he is that's dope I think he has a bright future for himself last one the tough losses the tough seasons can weigh on a player sure you're entering the prime of your career J kind of mentioned it last year all he cares about is winning he wants to win now is there a sense of urgency you obviously always want to win

yeah knowing that you know you're you're getting to the prime your career like you want to win now yeah I think that's a fair question I think you know you start to evaluate when you I'm in year six and you know how fast it goes and I try not to put the cart before the horse were looking too far ahead by the same time you do want to win you want to be a part of a winning culture and have a chance to win the Super Bowl and the playoffs and all those things like that's why we we do this personally and I'm just excited with being a part of a organization in a environment where now like everybody's on the same page in the in the in the message is uniform and it speaks from the top down and it reflects in the guys that they're bringing in you know all the guys that they brought in are guys who are hungry who are competitors who not only fighting for spots but are going to help us win games and when you're around an environment like that like that that makes you excited makes you hopeful and you know you don't know how it's going to turn out so we start playing games

but the foundation is extremely important and I think this all season we've really done a great job of building that they have and then when a coach Quinn guy here building with this team so I feel like we're going to be going into this offseason really knowing what we all got to do individually to become ready for camp but the the message is clear to come back to camp ready to compete and and be ready to win. Thanks, Daryl. Appreciate you guys. I really plan as much so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt so I can bring younger guys with me because I've been going around for a while. One of those younger guys we're seeing it out here. It's the first time it's heard all the live series. What have you seen from Will? Because I kind of felt like I should have real forgot about him because he was heard now he's running you know almost a second man out behind me and tied.

What have you seen in the memories? Well as a workhorse he he go stay quiet you go and work hard and that's all I love about him. He focuses he don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship? I'm running when all the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat and we just got to go show it. That mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like enough is enough. Does that feel different? Or is it not really any different? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this so we got to go go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home. It's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did they won the national championship and you guys took them down to the final minute.

You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? You guys want to win a national championship but you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's kind of coach makes a saying you know nobody cares just work harder like those. When we played Georgia the same thing. Last last play you know they went on the win in 90s so. We just got to get over that hump at the end of the season I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles? Of course it's frustrating but you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to you know come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older you kind of learn? I thought I was working hard and you always find out there's a little more. You could have been doing? Yeah definitely. I mean that's how that's what growing up is basically in college.

I thought freshman year I was working as hard as I could but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. Just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? 80 85. I mean I can it's all on me. I think it's a little higher I was just trying to be funny but I mean it's all on me. I just got to run harder. I just got to get the idea of the potential of the stuff. I have about that idea that's a make you nervous about can you last that long? I think I think I definitely can last. You know we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody like online be line. I don't know if any of us were really expected to play that next time.

Yeah I did unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like you know Notre Dame too or North. Those kind of games. Of course I want to be because I know I can contribute and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald and you guys in a second? Oh yeah definitely K-Mac is a K-Mac animal. You haven't really seen it yet but in practice he shows all the time. He's just he's growing right now. He has to work I think he just has to get you know in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen you're both listening to 6-3, you're 3-27, he's 3-26. Yeah I kind of look at him like my junior but you know K-Mac he's going to be a great player. He's got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guy there's that large group of young guys and they're the seniors in the back.

Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah definitely we got to be leaders. Like I said we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work and we got to get them right. They're in all season so they can play. And I just play they want to like contribute like make plays tackle with sex. It seems like these guys get bigger. Each one of the first mid class is bigger or bigger. And those guys kind of those are going to kind of value themselves the first. Yeah they're definitely some big dudes and they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too when I'm passing on but throughout the workouts they've been working hard. You know they're determined. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important this notes feels like. There's a lot of great defenses that you have big athletic defense attacks. So you can eat up space and also move right through this. Is that inquiring maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some balls but also a great feed?

I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last couple of nice and champion's winters. Like team up north they didn't know they got two good detacled two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this they're going to find why the defense attack was like. What's Georgia? Jordan Davis and James Carter. Let's Michigan. It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. You might be wondering like how I mean you understand this was you play it. But I feel like some time I don't know are people realizing how important defense tackles are a little bit more than they used to. I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine just now you see in like those guys they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think it when you think about the spreefish attack how do you think you fit into that. All of that kind of player. You watch that and say yeah that's me.

I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles but I don't want to you know get a big head but you know watch it come on. I watch it through the drills. I have to see you like looking like my film. So I think I'm up there. You become like a artist. You know, back down passes. I think the way it's going. You're not doing as much a weapon. I don't know. I don't know. Do you have like a gold one? I don't remember how much you have. I mean many is okay. I think I have more than that. But I think they're counting. I think they're counting some of them and some of them were like just listed. So but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big. What we do is a D line. You know just affecting the quarter of the against anyway you can. It's just great for the defense. I think it's a little thing covering his eye you know he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So it's something that you really really have to work on.

It's really that's one of the things that you maybe worked on the most. During your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like oh that past few guys. We don't have to ask. We're kind of kind of expected. I think I just have like a like a eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him like load up. I try to get in his way and sometimes he just throws it to me. I don't know how your advantage is to be a high state quarterback. I mean they get frustrated by you know we're a team. We're just getting better. That's a lot of a lot of different backsman and just learn and grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. I don't really have a top three but I'll give you I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto. He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey best back in this drive.

I lead out of the yard. That's y'all that's y'all decision. Playing well Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead. Such a great leader man. It's just like in moments where you know usually a lot of players they fold man. He was just always calm and relaxed man. He just the leader that he was man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah he's shoot. He's going to be really good man. He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man. He's smart the way that he goes about his business man. He's mature. And so man he's growing you know just as a person in as a player. And so man yeah definitely Ohio State you know that running back room is in great hands. Yeah coach Coach Hartlman.

He's full of energy man and he's creative as well. You know I'm just learning from him as well you know I'm trying to run more outside the back field was being able to learn from coach Hartlman. And so he's definitely creative at what he does and he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Just intensity man. And since he got the playoffs every game and it's like the intensity got you know higher and higher. And so you know being able I know in the lead it's the same thing even if it's not the play I'll just every every game and intensity it keeps getting higher and higher. So yeah you just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio State. You know I definitely feel like Ohio State they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know I just remember even before going through this process I'll talk to a lot of players before then. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them you know for the NFL. And so yeah.

Yeah. Yeah I know I took a couple days off after the national championship and then shoot right after that. I'm writing right in sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so yeah I think where I trained I trained that your birth performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the compound now. They did a good job man. They're just bringing us in the way they went about training us man. They did a really good job. The bucket near know I haven't. Tampa Tampa nice. It's a nice city man really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No man. It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so I say you know it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of will highway.

It's for the love of the receiver. So I got on the perimeter just making sure you know first of all my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told will I think it was before the first game. I was like I got your brother. It's I said man I'm not going to let you get hit you know and so I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that but I know if I did I haven't given up too many. And so man it's for the love of my brothers though man making sure the ball get in their hands you know the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. But then I found out that I was going to get hit in my game. You can't really work on this you know in the all season I feel like it's more so you know you got to put the pass on you got to go through some inside run you know maybe. I was really just continuing to run through tackles and so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know I want to continue to get better I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so I just want to continue to build on that. Yes I did. Yes I did.

You get back in person. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison actually I know I'm a Camarro sure yeah man I would come here great great back man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups he's dangerous man and he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well I'm not going to lie he's smooth. Yeah inside zone from stack being able to hit that thing downhill and I say the next one is probably. Just an option route out of the backfield you know a man and man coverage you getting on that linebacker and so. Yeah I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man in the way that man.

He approaches the game he comes in with the monster you know he's going to work every single week you know every practice you know he's working hard you know even shoot. I don't know every good I think he had every game was a good game for him man and so but still man he always has the mentality to mindset that you know he's going to come in each and every day he's going to continue to work and get better man and so he's definitely man he's going to be a special player man he really is. Yeah man a lot of ups and downs man it's just how you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this not have something to lean on now you know I remember before I met him you know going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know you can run to people but they still can't it's not too much they can't truly help you you know I feel like you know I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ and so being able to lean on him you know he gives you in those moments where it's tough you know where it's still.

And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about he gives you he gives you that peace and comfort you know even in those moments man where it's so hard that you can't you can't explain it's like man I'm going through this but like how am I still feel with this internal joy you know how do I have so much peace in this situation and so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so. The back of the front of me is the power of judgements to what effect which aspect to each of those other individuals who want to follow the game from being around power to him. Man those guys have such a great mentality man I might just really love their mentality especially Q as well you know I talked about will how are his leadership a quench on mentality man that boy just yeah that boy just gifted you know you see you know sometimes he put in a situation where you look like you know he should have a negative five yards and as soon as you know he you know he that running through somebody step on somebody and she was a gain of 10 and so.

Yeah man I think it's like he's just gifted man to be honest he's just gifted you know he's he's a big back you know he's strong and so you know he's able to do he's able to do those things and so yeah man it's definitely you know I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from quencheon you know I want to look at his game is like man where working I get better at as well you know that's the type of player I am I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to get better. I'm always looking to grow as a player. Julian San oh yeah he's going to be a great but he's going to be a great quarterback man he's so so accurate and so he's definitely man I know coach Dez definitely going to get him right just you know continue to grow as a leader continue to grow as a player and so he's going to be really good for our state. He's I know just the quarterback position I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past they've they've definitely been vocal and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask Julian San as well it's to be that vocal leader and lead the lead to offensive lead to steam.

Sure man he has he has a bill like JK Dobbins and I kind of see them you know similar similarities in their game as well and I know JK Dobbins he was a great run it back I feel like he's not talked about his no a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is great I remember before I recruit before I committed here I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every every one of his years here like four or five times and so man he was such a great back and I feel like you know when I see JK Dobbins when I see James people I see similarities to both of their games I feel like they play the same. I appreciate you all you have to go.

I got coming in last round. I knew we're all so I just tacked every day really the same way. I think I got a lot bigger I'm like 240 you know like 240 for right now last year I played it like 236 to 37. What does it feel like a 240 for our building? You feel like almost a different machine out there. Yeah what does it feel like to be run around out there like you are but with more of a more bad. I just feel like I'm like like like like more downhill like stronger like I'm taking all the bloods better it's bigger. You see don't think maybe that's not the correct term but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year and you played quite a bit last year and stuff. What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? You've got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps.

How much are you looking forward to it from an 8th inning? I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch. It's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah with an opener like that we've been emphasizing it a lot and we know we got coming so we know we got to do it. How are you going to do this brother? I think Rally ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he in the book he studying like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like the saw line to him. I said you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready for whatever the team needed for you? Yeah because that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up so I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year.

When you say ready is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly I think I'm there. A different is that feeling this year than last season? Asked I one more time? How different is that responsibility? That's just a emotional thing all that. One last year you knew you were a home player. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility when you have them to step up this year but I kind of go about it the same way like last year I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year it's going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody who's somebody you can say. And what word? I was many words you watched. I say, describe my game. When you think of me you would think of like a bullet like a silver bullet.

I don't really know what it's like. That's how I like to play and think. No, I ain't got to be my nickname. Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm not. Yeah, that's like. How does that fit you? And what are you going to do about it? Playing in that kind of style? I think it fit me because. I don't know. I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the terms is like, no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. It's a little bit more. Maybe it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like. I just like his days. I like how the previous days I like what you got going on. What was it? Sadness. No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for you. Yeah, that's what you want.

No. No. All right. No, that's my dog. I don't see it. Kind of missing a little bit, but I'm happy for you. I don't think. Go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship. You guys will win your own. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and along some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like. I did win the national championship, but like you said, my role wasn't the same as how's my beaters here. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that feeling. Maybe on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. Thanks, guys. I feel like I kind of have a lot of leaders on the D line at the D in position, so we kind of all kind of just kind of tough to do. I know. I feel like we're all just kind of bouncing off each other and seeing what one person does and we kind of split it into our actual box and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing.

You're going to relax here and you've got to get the shot at full acting work. And they approach you that idea and coach them. I mean, how did that come about? Because you're a jackson, you're a floppy. It gets touched at. So I definitely did it in high school. I was pulled back and a little bit tied in. So I feel like they kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson. Honestly, you love watching it too, before you left. And I feel like you plan that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it and tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? Yeah. New playbook. I did not know you haven't got that far. How toposet you are? Look at that. I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field. You need me to just give me a week or two to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. I can't check you the same thing. Oh yeah. But what about you? Roughly, that's what I... I was talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of saw you and got it out to have some conversations.

I think JT and Jack decided to come back. We've got to lean into those, perspective and how did that help you maybe get the right mindset, I guess, and then it was fun. I'm definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it. I don't know how long the season is now. What you got to do to prepare for and what to happen and all that time from here to this. So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected. And we kind of just talked man-to-man and he kind of just sent it straight to me. And I feel like we kind of both are going to be in the game. We can make it together better every day. We've got the four best DNs, five best DNs, honestly. And we're going to coach football and we're going to be one of the best DLines and coach football. How do you feel about the better player today at any work you have in the team? I feel like I've taken big steps in my rules of just being responsible and being more of a leader. And kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in. And I feel like I'm kind of helping out more.

I think record head around the past 7-7 T-P-H-C. That sounds good. I mean, it sounds bizarre, but I mean the season goes by so fast already. So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10. So now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it because you've been in here for a really good freshman split. But you don't want to spend all your power in the first month of the year, right? Oh yeah. There's a mindset that I didn't know the season. Yeah, definitely. Definitely going to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys around the game? The last question right here. 2016, 2017, 4 NFL 2 Fetch of Ends All in Sanitation. How much has he talked to that guy? I mean, he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. You've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know what it could become. So we know we're right at the same, we're at the right place at the right time. And God wanted us to be here. He knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together.

And I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together and something special. We plan as much. So I just wanted to get more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been here a lot. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out there. It's the first time I've heard all of your lectures. What have you seen from Will? I don't know. I should have re-alphaed out about it because he's heard it. Now how he's running, you know, almost a second man out of the eye. You're tied. What have you seen in the middle of the game? Well, as a workhorse, he goes, stay quiet. He's going to work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going, give the job done. Do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes. So what would be a successful season? A national championship? A ring? When all the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. We just got to go show it. That mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so.

You guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like an opposite one. Does that feel different? Or is there a really any difference? It's just the same. It definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home, then. We're not trying to go home. So it's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? I mean, you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just work harder. That's kind of what you make of saying. You know, nobody cares. Just work harder like those. No one played Georgia. Same thing. Last, last play. You know, they went on the win in the 90s. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season.

I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought that was working hard, but then you always find out there's a little more. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, Frank's me. I was working as hard as I could, but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all, compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. But just standing as a 16. And the answer to like, what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85. I mean, I can... It's all on me. I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. It's going to make the idea of a potential assistance.

It's got to make the idea of a potential assistance. I mean, it's the idea that making the most about, can you last that long? I think we're I definitely get lost. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys that come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody like online, D-Line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D-Line and O-Line. And everywhere else, so we can last that long. Speaking of which I've lost K-Line, let me snap. If you like playing at me, snap again. Not here. I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that next time. Yeah, I did, unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame too, or those kind of games. Of course I want to be, because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Taden McDonald and the Cee guy that you got to go second?

Oh yeah, definitely. K-Mack is a K-Mack's animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows it all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work ethic, he just has to get, you know, in a playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th grade, you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mack, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get in the playbook. So really a lot on you older guys, there's that large group of young guys, and there's the seniors in your back, is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right, burn all season, so they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like make plays, tackle, sex. It seems like these guys get bigger. Each one of the freshmen class is a bigger operator.

Do those guys kind of, that those are going to kind of value themselves in person? Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I haven't really seen much of somebody day two when I'm passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I'd say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. I'm going to put this notes in. It feels like, you know, there's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defense tactics, you can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? Is that an environment maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great feature? I think that is definitely, I think if you look at the last couple, not some championship winners, like seem on North, they didn't know they got two good, uh, detaco, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run, because big teams. If you think about this, they won't define by the defense, because actors like, what's Georgia, Jordan Davis and Janet Carter, what's Michigan is?

Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. You can get us one, like how, I mean, you understand this, because you play it. But I feel like some time, I don't know, people realizing how important defense tackles are. A little bit more than they used to. I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving, we're in the 478s and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about this freakish attack, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch the combine. I watch it do the drills. I have tape here, you're like, you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all those times. I think you can, you become like a artist and a bunch of bad young guys. I think the way I get your things. I mean, you're going, you're not doing as much a weapon of a weapon.

How do you work on that? Do you have like a gold one, Marge? I don't remember how many I've last year. Like, you have gold one, I've got five. I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think he's a council. I think they're a council of them. And it's some of them where I like just missed it. So, but I think we work on Joe's match in the hand. I think that's, uh, goes big. And, uh, what we do is a deal on, you know, just affecting the quarterbacks. Anyway, you can. It's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covered his eye, you know, he might throw it a little bit to the left to our player. So, so it's something that you really, really act on what gold is. That's one of the things that you maybe worked on the most. You could bring your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that passes. I think I just have like a, like, uh, eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he's just those attendees.

I'm irritated to do it. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're team, you know, we're just getting. I should a lot of, a lot of different backs, man, they just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. We have a, all right now. Uh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Auto, he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all, that's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard, what I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great lead, such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players, they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He, just the leader that he was, man, that's one thing I'm going to remember about him.

Yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man. He's, um, Coach Lock, I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's, man, he's smart the way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature and so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. Yeah, Coach, Coach Hartline, man, he's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know, I'm just learning from him as well, you know, I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Just the intensity, man, the intensity of the playoffs, every game, man, is like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher.

And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing, even if it's not the playoffs, just every, every game and the intensity keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio State. You know, I definitely feel like Ohio State, they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah.

The Bucking Nears. No, I haven't. Temple, a temple. Nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. It's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. It's really all about technique. And then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receiver. So, I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. I'm not going to let you get hit. You know, and so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that. But I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man. Making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed.

You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game. I didn't really work on this, you know, in all season. I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. How did you get back in your seat? I didn't get back in my seat. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camarra shoe. Yeah, man, I have a Camarra great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. I know a bit of flavor of it. It's a little bit dull. It's just a little bit of flavor.

Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that line backer. And so. Yeah, I say to man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot. I don't know. Every good. I think he had it. Every game was a good game for him, man. But still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is.

Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, I'm not having something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity. I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't. It's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments, where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so...

Um... Man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. I just really love their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man. Um... That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know. You see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, stiff-arm, and somebody, and she, that's a gain of 10. And so... It's like, do some of the things he does, he just realizes to be different, actually. Yeah. Um... Shoot, I think... Yeah, man, I think it's just like... He's just gifted, man, to be honest. He's just gifted. You know, he's a big back. You know, he's strong, and so, um... You know, he's able to do those things. And so, um... Yeah, man, it's definitely... You know, I look at his game, and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at his game, and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player.

What's your last experience? Drueling San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great back. He's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate, and so, um... He's definitely, man. I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right, just, you know, um... Continuing to grow as a leader, continuing to grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for high-stay. Uh... He's... I know just the quarterback position. Um... You know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've... They've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um... Ask them Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader, and lead the, um... And lead the offense, and lead the team. Shoot, man. He has a build like JK Dobbins, and um... I kind of see them, you know, similar... Similarity is in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. Um... I feel like he's not talked about his none. Um... A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights, is great. I remember, um... Before I recruit... Before I commit it here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights, like every...

Every, um... One of his years here, like, four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And um... I feel like, you know, um... When I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um... James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so... Appreciate you all, y'all. You're welcome. This... This...

This...

Well, I got coming in last year, I knew it was all so I just tacked JK really the same way. It's technically... It's technically how different are you? Weight-wise, body-wise, all that from a year ago. Um... I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, you know, like, 240-44 right now. Last year, I played at like, 236, 237, so... What does it feel like at 244? Or, well, you feel like a... Almost a different... Machine out there. Yeah, like a... What does it feel like to be running around out there, like you are, but with more... More back. I just feel like I'm like... Like... Like more downhill, like... Stronger, like I'm taking a little bloods better. It's a big... Yeah. You see, don't think, uh... Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year instead of... What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? Is it going to get ready to just play 30 more snaps, so... But, are you...

How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8-pin? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My, I'm ready for it. The Texas opener is a rematch, so to speak, but it's not really two different teams, compared to the ones that I'm going to play. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the... Where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been... We've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming, so we know we got to do it. We've been prepared for it. Already this is probably what you're going to do. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshmen, like he ended up here in the book. He stood in like he advanced. And his measurements were crazy. Like he saw like a saw line too. Or, you said you were ready. Like you said you were ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? So, every team needed to meet you? Yeah, because that was pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So, I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year.

When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different thing that you want to do here at Dan Lass. That's the most important thing to have. Asked the one more time. How difficult is that with your child to feel? That's what you should be. That is just the same. All that. If it was last year, you knew you were a boy. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But, I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was attention to what everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. For somebody who's something really different than the same thing. It won't work. How many words do you want? I say, describe my game. When you think of me, you would think of like a bully, like a silver bully.

I don't really know a bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play a thing. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but. I'm saying that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. How does that fit you? And what are you doing about bullying in that kind of second? I think it fit me because I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom. We're moving around a lot of the times. I don't know. I don't really not answer that. You get to go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe. And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on. But it's like, I just like it's deep. I like how it's pretty deep. I like what you got going on. What was it sad when CJ left the room? No, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for me. Yeah, that's what you want.

No. No. All right. That's my dog. I don't see it. Kind of missing a little bit. I'm happy for you. Well, don't think. Go ahead one last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys have been winning your own. Yeah. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and along with some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a nati last year, but like you said, my role wasn't same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. I'm going to be so happy. The championship in New York, you know, before and everything like that, and also to get your teeth knocked in, you know, first game and you can't have that happen because then you know, really doesn't mean anything. And so just the concept mindset to continually get better is been on the forefront of my mind and forefront of anyone here you can ask.

Yeah, we look at the class stats every now and then I can be like, oh man, they're gone. They're gone. No, it's been, it's been good. I mean, the guys who are still here have definitely kind of bonded together pretty good. So. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you know, Marv came in the other day is like class 21 best class ever. And I'm like, yeah, sure. You know, I can't really, I can't really even, you know, just sitting to that, you know, not much left, but. Yeah, I mean, to do what we can and do what we can for this team has been really important for all of us. And I think us now realizing where the veterans, you know, where the old guys now in the group has been. And I think it's a little strange, at least to begin with, you know, because you go from all those guys, you like Donnie and Josh and those guys and old Sudden.

It's Sunday. We have a team meeting after the. Like the celebration, the shoe and all of a sudden the next day there's gone. And you know, it's just very different. So I think us being able to step up as, you know, leaders and as as vets to help bring along, you know, along the team are units and this program has been really important. And overall, just try. But then he was your office like that for sure. Luke so that Jake is there. So far, he didn't change. Yeah. Somebody who went through that, what have you been in bus five with Jake? No, it could spend doing really well. I mean, I could go and he goes to work. He's extremely athletic, extremely flexible. You know, he's a young kid, obviously. He's a lot of a lot of development, a lot of. He's a little adversity at all of us do. And I think he's going through that right now, but he's been coming out on the better end of it so far and excited to see what he can do because he's very impressive at this young stage.

So I steer over all level of excitement just to be back with the rest of this year off to line. Would you guys have something just to. Yeah, extremely excited. Trying to just build that culture back up again, you know, like what we had last year. I'm trying to do a little stuff here and there and I can know I think we're going to Ray raise a barbecue. I think tomorrow. So shout out Ray raise. But. But yeah, just trying to get that brotherhood back, get that, you know, that oblock spirit back. Sure, it's coming soon soon. Hopefully. But just to kind of get those. Not those same faces, but those same kind of mindsets back in our group is important right now. And it's been fun to meet new guys from different backgrounds and stuff like that and try to. Figure out how to build that and mend that together. It's been pretty cool. Now as you are one of the most experienced veterans on this team, how much do you feel like you have to be a leader for the students here? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think that comes.

It's obviously I don't feel like it's natural to anyone to immediately step up and that's something I've been working on every day and talking to God about. But I have to understand that and that's something I want to continue to work on. I want to be able to be a guy that people can fall back on and like coach was saying before like we're going to have highs and lows, but the great players, the ones being set our clocks to and I kind of want. That's my goal as to be one of those people that you can do that. And I think for especially a very new set of eyes in the Woody, not only coaches, but players. I think it's very important to kind of keep that steady mindset. And I think for me, learning how to be a leader has been important just to not be too hard on myself, but also not alone myself. Kind of slack off in some departments to try to keep steady. Just your story itself, though, is testament of what it means to like for perseverance and stuff too though. I mean, you don't necessarily have to stand up from somebody to say that, right?

What do you think you've shown more than anything else in their regard? Yeah, I mean, I've been blessed. I've been blessed with a lot of adversity. I think that's definitely made me better on the back end. Coach, Coach Dei always talks about it and you don't, you know, great leaders aren't, you know, they can show it. But you know, a lot of people can show it. A lot of people can just talk about it, but to be about it is important. And I think to me now, I've went through a lot of that adversity. I went through a lot of that stuff and my testament has been written in an interesting way. But I think for me to take that next step is really important for not only for this team, but for myself personally. What's your first impression of Ethan? Yeah, he's been doing great. I mean, he came in big, freaking strong. He's fun to be in the weight room with. He's kind of quiet. Like that's kind of my first impression on him, but he's actually pretty funny, dude. He and his dad come over and they kind of joke around. So he's been doing a great job. All right, he's been doing a great job for his size.

He has like freaky athletic feet. Like I watched him do the ladders and that's a lot of massive overrun on those things. You know, doing a little acheshuffle, but I mean, he was killing it. And so he's been doing a great job. I can't wait to see how it kind of continues to develop throughout this summer and throughout this fall camp. First thing I saw was, yeah, I heard about that. What did Austin do? Yeah, Piggy's been doing great. I mean, he stepped up. Piggy, yeah, everyone refers to him as Piggy. He's his username one time. Nice everyone to speak. Anyway, you know, Pig's been doing great. He's been able to step up and kind of bring around the long those younger guys. You know, everyone's kind of trying to figure out their new roles. And I think he's been a big body guy that he catched by. Can run between the tacos. His feet are quick. And once you think for a big guy, that really good feet and good balance. So that's what makes him good. That's what I saw. Is that a comment for a bigger bag like in the average virtual utility?

I think that's probably a good way to bring back some tight end back. Well, tight end back ground. I don't know many with that type of background, but when he's high school, we see that they try to play as an H-Bad, but really good. When you look in the portal for running back to, we want to try to recruit running back. Does it matter to you if you have two different styles of running backs? Maybe one guy can do certain things better. One guy can do certain things better. Or is it, you know, you'll just say the best running back. You can find it. Yeah, I want to do stuff. You're going to try to take the same thing. You're going to take the same thing. You're going to take guys with different skills. Whether they're big guys, small guys, tall scatgers, in-between, attacking runners. I don't know. You know what? I don't want to take the same thing. They're all different, different backs. You guys have a wheel and clinch. I do a lot of them. I'm sure we're going to run some story. You guys are going to run. Is it important to find the back of the size that you see today as the opening of the windows? I have my own opinion on the size that you're going to come in the rims.

I had Jordan James out of the world. And I, he's my grandson, running a show yard, running some freshmen. And probably way to two, two, or five. Which is not going to be. But they ain't got anything to do with them. And some guys you got to know. So sticking about in his own. And he played with a lot of aggression down here running. So that could be CJ. That could be James. Or it could be the freshmen, though, Jackson. You know, it's just you who has a nose for giving hands on it. But that's that's where I'm going to go with it. You don't have to be 62. No, just because you're being there, I don't make a pop. We need to get obviously a freshman running back from it and the boat is there here. But what do you need to see from a freshman to feel comfortable with that plan? So in the first thing with that on the ball. Well, they do a little small detail. Take care of the ball. The second thing will be how good they know. Pass problem. Because it's the hardest thing for high school. Because they're not really here in high school.

We have to understand the past. But all their files are here. So like they said, I'm the head coach in my heart. So that's why I need to see first. And everything. Jackson, I will understand to be. So I can be better. Go get in there. Do you feel comfortable with with the bow and is there where they're at or at least where they're talking? Yeah, I think they've been fine. I can say I tell all the young guys, he's a marathon. I was playing. The first day of first, you've been an armistice. I'm a special team. You know, you're a special team. Then you are in the right to be a book out. So get that down the field. So I think they're training the right. First practice. Not it wasn't merit. So to build off. I'm doing the job to build off. I'm cleaning stuff to work on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Long day. I've just seen some of the younger guys in the room develop. I think about like Patrick Houston is coming in this year.

Seeing him working with you guys. Josh would make it. I'm seeing him coming. I feel like they're definitely picking up quick. I mean, I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison and Jibon Tay. And Tyler Friadowel in front of me. So that's where I'm trying to be one of those peers that they were for me. And kind of just giving them the steps to get there. And I feel like they're definitely picking up quick. And they definitely need to be one of the great rushmen. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. So we're going to go chat to talk about it. JT and Zach probably need a ton of their experience. Maybe that's the new opportunity for you to do a lot of things. Is there a difference in the work going to be getting through Patrick Jam pretty much the last couple? I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big coursework. And I love that. So I asked Coach Jay for it. I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft. So I mean, some people may not need it. Some people need it. But I mean, it's like you as me. It's like you. What do you think of this deep on that coursework? I don't know what that means. I mean, for me, it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly.

Like my steps, my footing. Kind of just perfecting my toolbox. It will be called it my craft. It's trying to be a second whenever every place inside of it. Yeah, definitely just getting stronger faster. Everything all day above. But one of my big things is being a leader. And kind of just not trying to look, still look up to Jack and JT and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into. So I feel like we kind of have a lot of leaders on the D-Mine. We have to be in position so we kind of all kind of just count off the children and those. It's been a tough time for me to be able to go to one of the top guys playing with them all. We're all doing it and being on the field. And just trying to keep us from moving. And those guys, how does that bring us into the future? I mean, it's like competitive. We love it. We all competitive people. We all love to fish each other. And that's the way it's bringing the best side of all of this. We all just kind of bounce off each other and see what one person does. And we kind of put it into our toolbox and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing.

Hey, do you ever go last year and you got to get the shot at full back in the club? And did they approach you with that idea and two coach's deal? I mean, how did that come about? Because you're a JTXR, you're a sloppy. You get to test that. So I definitely did it in high school. I was full back and a little bit tired. And so I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson. And he loved watching it too, before he left. And I feel like he planned that seed and Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it. And I tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? Do you have anything in the screen? New play about Guy to Nano, you haven't got that far. Yeah, really. How top of set is there? Yeah, look at that. I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field. You need me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it. And I'll try to do my best for you. I can jack you the same thing. Oh yeah. For athletes, that's why. I was talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of side you and about how to have some conversations.

After JT and Jack decided to come back. Just got to wait until those were expected and how did that help you maybe get the light mindset against what I need to explain. I'm definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it. I don't know how long the season is now. What you got to do to prepare for and what's happening all that time from here to then. So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected. We kind of just talked man-to-man and he kind of just sent straight to me. And I feel like we kind of both are pretty honest. And we know we're making it. We're making each other better every day. We got the four best DNs, five best DNs, honestly. And then the college football and we're going to be one of the best DLines and college football. How do you feel like a better player today than you were in this year? I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader. And kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team. And kind of bring people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more.

I eat record in right across the 70th GFC. The zip-sale, the dip-sale. I mean, the season goes by so fast already. So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10. So now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it. Because you've got a lot of experience. But you don't want to spend all your time in the first month of the year right? Oh yeah. There is a mindset. Yeah definitely. Definitely going to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys about? The last question right here. 2016, 2017, 4 NFL Defense Awards all in the same year. How much does he talk to that guy? I mean, he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know what it could become. So we know we're at the same, we're at the right place at the right time. And God wanted us to be here and he knew we, one of us all to come together and kind of play together

and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together. And I feel like we all are just great individuals and you come together. Great. How did your expectations, I guess, meet up with how do you feel you could play at this point in the past? I feel like I've made the plays that came to me. And that's where the Aachengan control. I've had more opportunities as years progressed and been in the spot to be here on the ball. But the expectation was to come here and contribute to the team and try to help find a way to push the team to win games at our level. And to be better than they were in Lachian for me to play better than I was in Lachian. So really just coming to try to grow with myself and with the team. So that was my big goal and I feel like I've done a good job and the team has done a good job progressing through the year and getting better. So yeah, that's all I can say about that. Okay, to the right, you can make a lot of the problem. Yeah, I can't stand here right now.

I just feel like a different season. What does it feel like for you going into the playoffs? You know, you don't get to go, you want to necessarily do a regular chase, but here you are. What is that sense that you have right now that's different, right? About the regular season? I mean, everybody wants to say it's a new season in terms of, because if everybody's 0-0 right now, when you keep going, if you lose, you're done. But generally, that's how you play every game. You know, they play every game like it's your last game. So for me, I don't think it's really any difference to be able to go play. I love every game that can't be based at home. It's a player family. You know, it's no play every game like it's the same thing. So I would say in terms of that, no, you just have to play the game. Play the game with them. Well, what feels difficult is defense right now going into this. What do you all feel even more time-y? You know, the tie that we close together, what was it? I mean, what is your sense of the further it's so to speak of the defense?

I feel like we progressed throughout this season. We had to make a change after game 6, because we lost and we didn't play well again. And I feel like we'd grow up from that and add to a better place. And over these past two weeks, off just realizing, these are the things that we messed up throughout the year. These are what we need to fix. These are what this team is trying to exploit on us. So just really going back to everything, seeing what can do better for this kind of game and for the next couple of years. Let's go for questions. Deep, Tony, you heard me fuck a hell. How does the Tennessee's wine split from your receivers? In fact, you, as a subject. I feel like it makes the game more or more one game. It makes your receivers more and more DBs at the play of second game than the gods up front. And it makes it, truthfully, like those guys I could do their job and these guys I could do your job, you got to be able to stop the run with the people they've had to go run with it and yet to be able to stop the path with the people they have out there. So that's what they do and they do it at a really low level.

So it's going to be tough to go with. And finally, question, Joey Cobb and Columbus Dispatch. Coach knows the time about the speedy, which there, you guys are going to have the call and play. And since it's built for the controllers of the past, you can play call and play. And what is a play of kind of band music that gives you the speedy, which is called that? All right. It allows you to be your clean senator. I said earlier, just a ability to see the formation and see what keys that you have before the play. I have knowledge of your job and not really thinking. Being able to play and not think during the games is a really big thing. Whenever you can get the call, I'm faster and play at a high level and play without thought. That's a really good thing for you. Caleb, thank you very much. Appreciate you. Thank you. You're a good judge. I'll give you a flop. It gives a test. So I definitely didn't in high school. I was pulled back and a little bit of tidied in. So I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson. He loved watching it too. He loved playing that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it.

And I tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? Do anything in the spring? New play, but I did not know you hadn't got that far. How tough was that just to you? You're looking back on it. I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any professional field you need me to. Just give me a weaker chew to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kid check, need the same thing. Oh yeah. Well, not that. Graphically, that's why. I was talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of start using it. Got out to have some conversations after the JT and Jack decided to come back. Just got to win into those. And I was expecting them. And how did that help you maybe get the right mindset I guess I'm going to do this for you? Definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it. How long the season is now. What you got to do to prepare for it and what to happen and all that time from here to then. So I feel like we definitely just coached Jamie kind of connected.

We kind of just talks man-to-man and he kind of just said straight to me. And I feel like we kind of broke it. Rest blessed. We can't make it. We're making each other better every day. We got the four best DNs, five best DNs honestly. And then coach football and we're going to be one of the best D-Rimes and coach football. How do you feel about it today? Anywhere again this season? I feel like I've taken big steps in my rules of just being responsible and being more of a leader. And kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in. And I feel like we kind of helping out more. Any record anywhere in the past that you see the TKFC? The next sound? I mean the sounds bizarre but I mean the season goes by so fast already. So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10. So now it's kind of getting more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it. Because I've seen you all fall in love with freshness and freshness. But you don't want to spend all your time in the first month of the year right?

And there is that pace yourself that. I mean there is a mindset for the season. Yeah definitely definitely going to have that mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys about like that? Last question right here. 2016, 2017, 4 and 5, 2, 5, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, so much. How much has he talked to you about that? I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know what it could become. So we know we're at the same, we're at the right place at the right time. And God wanted us to be here and He knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together. And I feel like we are just great individuals and we come together at something special. Great. You get like good coaches who believe in you and they give you the tools to go out there and just play with confidence. You know how they're doubting those stuff. Like you got your teammates, you got your back. Like my first play when I got up there to see like when DeZel, IGB and I remain. Like personally they say like no worry just go out there and play with confidence. You know the tools, it's usual tools.

Just go out there and make a play. And we're about to play coming to you. You know where is so time and so job. You just do it. And then like say what goes well. He gives me. He puts me in a position like at the drills we put in the work you put in the one on one. So I just go out there and perform at the highest level. How much better are you right now than maybe last month and four spring right? I mean I got way better just because I've transitioned a little bit to the inside. I miss my sound like now I seem to like catch catch technique in his. Often prevers not it's not always press at the long so it's like not maybe like move my feet, move my hands. Like see like what I got to do just like just in case I got to go back in corner. I can. I plan off now. I'm very confident out there. Do you think that was a natural fifth of you or have you had to kind of convince yourself to transition around? I mean I feel like it's natural for me because I feel like me. Individually I'm a fast learner. Fast learner like coaches help us like learn fast and like because they're always honest about the techniques and stuff. So you like you right now like you pick up all the things and then like when we get out here they coach us to like the techniques always.

You just go out there and play like fast spot and it's been like I would like versatility. You're able to go out there and just compete. Is that where you kind of stuff this spring or do you get kind of mountain? So I really been stuck there this spring a little bit right whenever you get it's like other things. I just bounce out there every once in a while just like have fun. See if I still got it every once in a while. So it's as good as going to the compete at most spots. You mentioned the technique what technique you know tips and things that you had to pick up and learn from walking from taking the inside. I mean it's always like you're because what coaches ask you hands like see it. You see it move your feet and then hit your hand with your hands on the man. So it's like when you get like when you out there you're able to like process like the way the receiver comes off the ball. Looking at the hips and seeing like the way he moving. Are you able to pick up like the row concept you can get out of that like so it's being like under coach water. Me as a player and just like him breaking out football to you like one on one. It's like very beneficial. What was the hardest part of making that transition from outside that sense?

I really say like the corner you got your cover to you cover three. You got to cover once. I mean it's easy but you got nickel. There are so many responsibilities you got to see like the row concepts you got to be able to process like dying those rows faster than what you got to do in that corner and just be able to like everything. Quit like a transition you got to like you got to move fast. You got to learn to move fast. It's like game recognition. What do you think maybe from the most since you got to. I would definitely say I would definitely say has because how you get to like college is a little bit different. High school we don't got to worry about things like that when I when you get to college in school like this. Like your recognition of plays and like you know your jobs the way like the coverage is supposed to be played. Understand why your teammates are supposed to have a feel like it's easy. What if your product is bad? It's very talented. He's a great dude. He's a humble guy. He's a great teammate. He's very supportive. He's like a guy that you don't want to wrong because you can feed off your energy because you can see like when you make a play.

He's like he like IGB. He's like IGB 2.0. So he's like when you get out there with guys like that with good energy. It's made you play a little bit harder. And then when you make a play he's out there and he's helping you. He's being out there with him. He's a good player. He's going to come to Ohio State obviously in the last few years. He's helping you see your first time. What is it about one build that gets you to play at Ohio State. It's a big question, I know the question. Let me just answer a couple of questions because we have so many kids come out of Glebville and just play these. I lead like schoolers and they like like I track the big part of it because I mean like actually in a Glebville everybody that I run a track like it's made it's right. minutes right you know you're really getting a choice. You're able to just like get out here and like know how to compete and then like G like getting bills that mental toughness into you so like have you like if you're down you got to be mentally tough because I'm not like like life's not going to be easy so it's like being out here being out here being out with a P and when you down just pick yourself back up I mean that's what being is done for me and

that's what being done for me. How would you describe the mentality of the defense right now being its opportunity for a Green Pass in the world in? Yeah hungry and thankful I mean we know how the last last time when you know we we had a chip on our shoulder I mean we were riding high before that game and we took that loss and we came back had to make a couple changes but I think we understand what you know everything's that stick right now you know just fighting to where another house they jersey for next game that's what's on stake and just to be able to represent this this this state and this this team I mean we understand what's as what's on the line and you know we're just hungry and blessed that we get this opportunity playing the Rose Bowl. Right behind your back of the game WBNS what do you remember most about walking off the field in Eugene? What was kind of all your eyes in that moment? I mean there is a I don't think anybody imagined it imagine a solution you know I didn't that's for sure and I think after that it was a kind of head deep understanding that man we still there's still a lot of ball left to be played I mean you

can let it sting for a little bit but you know if you let it carry over too long then you know there there goes there goes your whole season by I think we did a great job of just understanding coming together in this room right here not being afraid of display or hold accountability for one another and you know as as that happened he came back we grouped and you know we're just you're going right now and and I'm just blessed for those specific moments you know losing I mean no one wants to lose but the testimonies and the things you're taught within those little situations speaks of all of them. After all right Vladimir Drell. Yeah, what did you see from Kenya that the last couple weeks that was there like a push from him and they're being conversations with him he can see like he's playing some special moments and see. Yeah I mean that's that's my boy he's in the R2X club too but you know Kenyatta I mean every time his numbers call he goes out there and makes the most of it no matter where where we are in the game when he goes out there he's just hungry he

wants to go make plays and you know we see it in practice so it's not surprising to us. Bill Rebino, it's a bonus this back. Dylan Gabriel's obviously very elusive and he's not very tall. How important it could be to just kind of stay in your past rush lanes and neglect a lot of balls and kind of make a difference that way. Yeah I think it just comes out being disciplined knowing who you're playing against like you said Dylan he's a he sure but he's very elusive. I mean he can he is making throws I mean he get out the puck and do everything so I think for us we've got to discipline and just continue to just meet with Coach Jay me with the coach knows and understand how we can just eliminate that. Question about you and Jeff I mean your personality seem to be a little different you more on the quiet side he's how well you play together four years both five store guys kind of describe your relationship with him friendship with him and just kind of how you cop with each other. Man that's my brother like he said we're different but very alike

think outside like you said he's louder I'm quiet but you know once we're on that field we're like the same person we'll do anything for this team you know we'll die for our players and we'll give everything we got. Room together for four years correct? Yeah fall camp. Yeah sometimes go over there so go over there. We have our share of days when we when I'm neat he's neat or you know we might bumpy messy but we do a good job. Yeah I'd probably say I'm a better coach. Jack though Tony Gertman like I hope when you're playing a team for the second time and that was almost a season to go by now. How much of are you at square one with with this scouting and preparation or how much do you take from that game? How much do you avoid taking so that you don't have any preconceived notions of what you're going up against now that's probably offense I say it's pretty 50-50 I mean that game like you said it was a while ago but at the same time they elevated as a team so did we so we understand that they they had they made some changes for sure

you know there's team there's a certain density we can take back from that game but we also understand that they went on a little run after that and we can see that they elevated as an offense so we just got to continue to watch those games dissect the other games and just continue to see what stands out and what they change from the for the past game. We got a couple calls on zoom that will wrap up with first we have Nick Hamilton from nightcast media Nick. I was wanting to ask you basically about the synergy of this defense and how you guys were able to not only celebrate the triumphs but get through the adversity be able to be this top-notch defense that you are in college football today. Here's the question one more time. Yeah no problem. I wanted to ask you about the synergy you are able to develop over the course of the season obviously celebrating the triumphs but also getting through the adversities to where you go all other top-notch defense that you all are today. Yeah I mean like you said that we went through a lot of trials to trials but there's also

there's a lot of things we can take away from all the wins and losses and from those those wins we understood that hey we can be the best defense in the country and from those losses we understand that there's still things that need to be fixed and I think when you take all that in at once that comes out to the the common goal or the common talk which is you can there's always learning points everywhere and depending how we dissect those games or how we just continue to come as one and elevate you know we continue to just collect all those those learning points and just continue to grow from them. And one final question Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch. JT what have what have you guys done better in the especially in the Tennessee game and just lateness season you think about turning some of the the pressures that you've gone on a quarterbacks into sacks and getting home in some of those situations. Yeah I think it was more just uh understanding the defense as a whole understanding everybody's job uh thing as the season went on we

had to understand that you know we have to know what's going on the backhand we have to know what's going on the linebacker crew to understand uh what plays we have uh rumor free to end and I think once we understood that and got a better understanding of the of everybody's job I mean it it showed display because you know everybody else we each other's doing it's not like uh the linebacker know what they're doing uh the corners and be I they know only their job I think we all know each other's job and we continue to ask each other questions um on you know if they're blitz and how they can get to the quarterback and you know if I'm dropping playing quarterbacks by I can ask Cody on how to open field tackle so you know we just we just kind of lean on each other's understanding because uh you know um like I said like Denzel knows how to play corner better than I know how to play corner so you know he has more more wisdom at that position than I do. JT thank you very much. Thank you. You guys played the first place we know it's like that when the ball time. Uh definitely a little bit of both um obviously I just wanted the team to win I think we got a chance to win no definitely towards it and the stretch that last ride um I was a couple plays here

a couple calls that he made me should have gotten but um I think the frustration more so it just comes from you know wanting to win more anything. JT said he was a little surprised so much attention you got right away from your defense. How about you? Yeah definitely. We maybe gilved and were one of the ones kind of how the game playing was set up um you didn't have got like different coverage out of cloud to my side and this is kind of how the game goes. What's the process been like sometimes where whatever reason just just see that? Yeah definitely um especially in college a lot of the game friends defensively were taking the like um you know had a lot of success at a high-speed look and they're running the ball having different um the weapons they're kind of still getting the victories and um and obviously I just continue to do better jobs doing it here. My heart's racing rotation the process has been like post game getting on the same page with Kyler just you guys exchanged text or you guys in the film. Yeah filming definitely um kind of asking what did I see there kind of go over and play and um that's how I get

him when I saw and kind of different feedback there. Mark I get it we're asking questions about the previous game bar are you the type of guy to let a game like that winger or how do you flush it? You got to move on got to move on some long season guy like 16 more of them hopefully no I can stay healthy throughout the year and um just continue to build and get better each week. You guys did so much work throughout the off season to get on the same page how different is it when you get into that regular season? Yeah it's totally different it's totally different um you can do a lot of things you know inserts and shorts and then once you go out there put practice and you get pads on you do like the point practice we do with the colds but there's nothing like actually going out there um not in live action and really trying to be on the same case so I think that'll really shift with the team to develop and we'll get better. Is that it just a matter of roughs then? Just a matter of roughs then. Yeah I do definitely definitely um like I said I was kind of my first live action together um so I can continue to give it. When you're early impressions on time on the field together and the increases with with cows? Uh yeah but now obviously I have a

definite respect you know JG's call or preseason and obviously be off over really healthy that's kind of the most important thing and obviously that's all healthy even going forward so um that's it I can say. Marvin, are you really impressions of the Rams? What do you think of the Rams? Yeah I mean they're a good team they're good physical team I got a new lot of new guys up front I think that's kind of where the strong suit is um kind of a little different to Buffalo come more of a little match coverage so I'm excited to go against them. Personally when the belts wasn't many of them. Wasn't many of them so uh I thought I needed to. I'm just where you think game versus just playing you know not get any preseason game actually. I think it was three season. Definitely definitely thinking a lot out there and um you know I think I'll come with reps. I think to think and less and just going out there and playing definitely come of reps and it's something you know I'll get better at but uh I think definitely I was thinking a lot out there. Is there anything you can do to improve that that's for coverage anything you get in the past because you're you're going to fix that a lot

obviously. Yeah I mean you just got to team you get open for yourself make yourself available uh and when the ball does anybody making the play um this he's just taking you away that means other guys are having a chance to get open so uh that's not kind of how I look at it it's no longer still succeed in our offense that's the best thing of course. That kind of thing would be with Tyler. This is something that comes pretty quickly in a new game or something like that. Hopefully sooner or later I think I'll continue to see. Let's see. I don't think we're in a bad place right now at all. Obviously I don't really think that but uh just a live reps will continue to grow and show. I think how I believe maybe different than somebody else maybe you know I like to practice at least like the legal positivity you know I mean so but he the energy yeah would be on just though I could be on so I think so that's kind of how I want to be going on um leading my whole life on again I felt team captain like specifically and I felt I wasn't a captain in high school wasn't a captain in college but I want to make a joke

in high school so I feel like I'm not going to be a captain like he's that I felt but that would be awesome you know but you know that happens I'd be great but not either way I want to assume a role as a captain from to respect the guys until big video words and get back to that point. Yeah I mean I can't say that um I mean I guess the biggest thing is that I felt like how you used to move past but it didn't take just the first LTAs it took training and left and right once this season because I know what it was going to be. So it's like a lot of reps um just to give back to feeling like myself for day one LTAs and then that whole first week but now like today specifically just changing some small things with my feet that they're talking about the long coach about some things I'm doing my feet to get to that to sell my nutritional angle that I love to sit on. I thought I felt great already

but I felt even better. Sorry the more excited tomorrow now I'm getting my feet back and how I like the right side and I'm on the left side so I'm excited. I mean obviously I feel like um in the league whether I left the right or still going against premier guys obviously the high expectations for the left and right tackle but um it's definitely like the the level of energy and like the expectations definitely take the humans because now connect the blind side that's the as the tackle world you know so um so yeah I would say in terms of communication as far as this even outside of the facility you just stuff like that like really creating that but in tackle quarterback you bond even more off the field I think has been something that's even the cool I got the text one day as I put left you know yeah I've been training both I've been training both you know I I asked after the season they're like honestly you know

we'll talk to you so please season and I just got the text and I'm like having what happens with the free agency then so I was like you know what I have a whole season right tackle so if I get the word I'm going I'm standing right tackle I'll just do what I did before I'm doing on that bus I was like I might as well as train the left tackle now as if we're going to be left tackle and I'd rather do that than train all the right time with the club hey you left tackle I was like I'm switching my feet you know what I mean so I'm like let me just prepare an advance and I was like yeah it's got you know I think occasionally on third down there'd be a lot of twists I was just not like it's automatically good time and I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season like I didn't have to go into game with surprise like oh my gosh they did that I try to figure out okay like this is this is the type of rush I mean again this is how this guy usually rushes if I get the vibe this is how the ends like the rush you know tackles that first year guys you got the premier patch on you know what it was going to be already you know

will be every stud and honestly just knowing that's kind of an advantage to so you're not you're not you're not oh the problem is my side it was never airy dog like that come out the hot like three plays in a row in two minutes I do that you know what I mean I'm watching more everybody else ain't rarely you know it goes out there occasionally third down I was like you know he's gonna pick me you know what I mean so effect it's kind of it's also kind of an engine or what but it's also exciting like okay I'm gonna get the hardest look you know those are real real reps you know the day some really out on our way to cop process and I was like hey when they tell me let me know about I'm just gonna train it I was training all left so TAs I guess if I didn't hear anything about TAs I would have came in like so you know what I mean because just like I'm cool with training both continue I would have been cool training both continually but I feel like anybody any

position will feel like okay like you want as soon as possible give your feet settled in your hips settled in your hands so then second how would I would have been harder than you work both very how do you know but they're definitely but in terms of the development problem it's definitely a lot faster than staying on one side but I think having that the weeks that we had the transitional seasons over you know good um we'll try to get up put it in my car and we think that it's hot right now but when it comes back I'm gonna show him the one house I've got a house not too far from so I told him I got that house like I got a yellow outside that's doesn't have any stock or anything doesn't mean anything so we're we have to play

on Friday and that's really all that matters we're gonna take two more from zoom before turn it back a first one's gonna come from Stephen from Cleveland dot com go ahead well it's the fun I'm sorry hey Caleb we've seen you were talking about the Ohio State Office the success that they've had obviously Jeremiah has been a big part of that what's it been like this year going against him in practice and you know after doing that there's a surprise at all to see him having a success he's had as a freshman no it doesn't bring surprises um it was pretty pretty easy to see the talent that he has and the blessings that God has put on his plate um but it's always a it's always a challenge going against Jeremiah and the other receivers and Mecca and Karnana practice and even guys like Brandon and his impression Rogers they they do a great job bringing looks for the defense and uh create a lot of obstacles I found a question from zoom is gonna come from Dan Hope go ahead Dan Caleb you Quinn had a lot of success against you guys when you

played him at Alabama last year just what do you remember from going up against him last year and what can you learn from that game really smart quarterback knows how to operate their offense possible in the right places and then uh coach Narkeeson does a great job putting him in positions to win all right back to you yeah thank you Rob all our Columbus dispatch Caleb uh JT and Jack land opposite sides and they is opposite off the field as they are on in terms of personality and just the people they are uh they're offices but they uh they're also like one of the closest people I know they spend a lot of time together um they've come from different sides of the country so they're different people for sure but they're both really great people are really great men um sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm not gonna do

throughout the throughout the season we would always see you on Wednesday nights you and late and we'll be some of the last people off the field uh for the things that you're working on after a practice always the same is it a routine what are the things that you're hoping to get out of those extra moments after practice uh so routine pretty much the the keys that we need to go into the game with and then also changes week to week on based on what our jobs are gonna put us into doing um so every week we go through the same things and then we add certain things that we do for the we for the what the team that we play is gonna ask us a comment Bill with the one is this batch yeah I already got one here okay uh Joey Goplin club is this batch Cuban one takes us uses play action and they use play action to prepare but what's what do they do well and those spots and what's the key for you guys in those moments with Quinn they uh they do a really good job with eye candy um and it creates a lot of challenges for defense in order to see if it's runner path and see um because that's when they're gonna take their shots too as well so really

just having great eye discipline seeing the line is seeing what it's telling us um so that's this what it does uh deep right uh Nick Walker Letterman role hey you guys had a pretty good game plan for Tyler Warren when you guys played him you guys have another Texas head to the good tight end and Gunnar Homme what are you guys gonna have to do to limit him and how to what do you think about his game uh he's a really good player he makes a lot of plays and he's has a lot of receiving arts this year um so really just do the same thing we've done all year just be disciplined in our responsibilities and if you're on them you gotta make a play when it comes right one of the manager bill is uh play them dot com when you think their receivers is kind of a whole you know they spread ball around seems like a lot of what stands out about you know the way that they can spread ball around those different guys a lot of really good athletes um I play with Isaiah Bond Lasser who's a really great receiver a lot of speed um and then all their receivers have made a lot of plays so I mean everybody has to be on that piezing cues if we're gonna stop them

and um have a do a really good job uh front row here 10 May Letterman role yeah kill but you moved up here I don't have to tell you when you move it basically a year ago and stuff it was a little bit of a leap of faith because you know you know how many athletes are on this team get athletes to stuff but when did you really feel this defense come into its own and then then pass that man watching in the Rose Bowl you you recognition of what was coming seem to be on point did it feel like that I mean you personally um I think the defenses played really well throughout the season uh I think we've had games where we played better and games where we haven't put it all together but I think that's how all defenses are um so I can't say there's a certain moment where I think we put it together um but what's your second part of your question you seem really on point uh against Oregon about recognizing what was what was coming I mean you were really active out there directing and things like that did it feel like that I guess uh I feel like as Luke said earlier

the preparation that we put in goes into that and just feeling comfortable and what we're doing comfortable what we're seeing with the other teams I feel like that's uh that allows us to play fast can uh me and Lakers to communicate to everybody else do I miss anyone's questions here Steve how long in 24 hours sports yeah Caleb but you came to Ohio State to play for national championship and there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the season just to be in this position the last four teams still alive just you feel validated by that and did you always have faith that this is how it was going to turn out I came to Ohio State to become a better player and to help the team be as good as it can be not to win a national championship not like that wasn't the only goal for me coming here uh really just wanted to be in the team and be my be with the brotherhood um but it's a it's a great feeling being in the final four and being with the team and everything that comes with that but it's a blessing to be here and one final question Boomer Ben what's the club is this guy yeah I did a lot of follow up when I talked to you at that time of the game you said when

they scored their first and second touchdown you were really hot on the sidelines what was what was your message to the team and you know that's a good off that they're going to score against mostly why were you so hot really just because we didn't execute which let them score so we've done that a lot which is something we can't do in these big games and these games where it's winter go home so we got to make the plays when they come and got our competitive excellence as coach Dacinus make the play where your numbers call Caleb thank you very much I feel like they're definitely picking up quick I mean I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison and Javante and Tyler Friedel in front of me so I thought I'm just trying to be kind of one of those peers that they work for me and kind of just given them the steps to get there and I feel like they're definitely picking up quick and they're definitely going to be one of the great rushmen

um I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big course load and I love that so as coach J4 I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft so I mean some people may not need it some other people needed but I mean I just like to use me right um I mean for me it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly like my steps my footing it's kind of just perfecting my toolbox is what we call it my craft and trying to be it's like in whenever every place you're trying to do yeah um definitely just getting stronger faster everything all they above but uh one of my big things is being leader and kind of just not trying to look still look up to Jack and JT kind of have my own kind of leadership and get out of green people into so I feel like kind of have a lot of leaders on the p line at the d-in position so we kind of all kind of just counts off the trip and stuff like that

um it's competitive and we love it we all competitive people we all look at fish together and that's the way to bring the best out of all this we're all just kind of bouncing off each other to see what one person does and to kind of build it into our toolbox and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing. Hey do you have a role last year when you got the shot of did they approach you with that idea and you could have seen on my other deck come about because you heard Jack saw your slot me okay it gets test done. So I definitely did it in high school I was full back and a little bit of tight end so I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson honestly he left watching it too before he left and uh he played in that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it and uh tried to do the best I could do it. Is that for Chid? New play about Guida Manu and got that far. Yeah. Um I like to thank myself as a football player I can really play any position on the field you need

me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and uh try to do my best for you. Kid Jack you the same thing. Oh yeah. Well what? What? What? Graphically that's what. Kid is just talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of sought you and got out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back just like never went into those moves and expected them and how did that help you really get the right mindset I guess when you need this. Um definitely kind of seeing it all the way through I feel like uh people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it how long the season is now. What you got to do to prepare for and what could happen in all that time from here to to then. So uh I feel like we definitely just coached getting me kind of connected and we kind of just talks to Manu Man and uh he kind of just sent it straight to me and I feel like we kind of both are going on. I mean they're making it yada. We're making each other better every day and we got the four best Dn's, five best Dn's honestly in the college football and we're going to be one of the best D lines in college football. I feel like the better player today

than you were in this year. Um I feel like I'm taking big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and uh kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and uh I feel like we're kind of helping out more. I mean I think I'd recommend you to pass out to the team. I mean it sounds bizarre but I mean the season goes by so fast already so I mean you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10 so now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of save it because you're all freshness plays crazy. It's here once spitting on your cow or the first uh first month of the year right? Oh yeah. There is a my turn. Yeah definitely definitely gonna have that the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practice. How much is Larry talking to you guys? Last question right here. 2016, 2017, 4 and 5, two French and French and French and French and French and how much does he talk about that?

I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become. So we know we we're right at the same, we're at the right place at the right time and God wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and uh just perfect our craft together and I feel like we are just great individuals and we come together. It's something special. Great. Doing it. What what what the deliberation on surprise is even a conversation like it should always be live. Let's tell you tell you tell you play football. So um obviously there's a proximity to the season which is it's a little reckless I understand that but in spring we're here competing for jobs. I mean if I'm a quarterback I'm asking to be live so I can show him how I'm different than you know anyone that can't be live you know what I mean they're always trying to find an edge and if you're never fully alive I don't think you fully give guys opportunity to to be who they want to be or who they can be so that being said you know I will cast my vote but that will not be

my final decision on that but I will cast my vote. I think I can handle it well. It was good for all parties involved and uh more we can do that the better but I'm sure that is coming to a close here very quickly so. Right uh General Maya off the field we saw after practice on this Saturday that the mob that came to get autographs and things when when you're working with him on all these things you're talking about but also dealing with the life of being one of the biggest names in college football how do you help mentor him in that aspect? Yeah I mean it's a it's a blessing to be able to be in a position where you know can provide insight or I wouldn't say recommendations but just you know give perspective um well how he chooses to receive the first perspective or not one and an eye he always does but which is fine but to be in that position is really humbling that being said he does a really good job on his own he doesn't need to check talent too much

uh he's really done a great job again the way he was raised in his morals and humble would always sign and taking pictures I'm always trying to be the bad guy for him because he's not going to be and uh just says again more about his character uh but he's not the only I mean he's not the only guy any guy would kind of do that we have a group full of awesome young guys uh but Jeremiah has done a great job with it hang on it and uh it's definitely growing at an exponential rate to say the least uh but um I think he's built for it and he's been handled at a high level uh but oh those around them were trying to help him out a little bit yeah what made uh quick see the first freshman to this is Black Flag Machine uh yeah I mean uh that's a good question I think that uh you know frankly you know it I don't I know I'm not really fully evolved about that so I can be but I wasn't you know I think that people on the outside would it be defense or even

coach day or anybody brought it to my attention you know we're kind of just going about practice and that's our expectation and make plays not make mistakes um and he was starting to make a lot of a lot of plays consistently and I think the consistent level uh that he's been as a person uh being on being on time and and doing what his job description on each play and the ball is coming your way and making some big plays and uh you know it starts it starts being seen by your peers and your peers start asking for it they start barking get it straight off all those kind of things that's the ultimate sign of respect I think uh with your peers um you know go to your bat and he's not going for his bat no one uh people are bringing it to your position coach I think it uh speaks volumes of the uh the general respect that you're earning uh through the process so I think something like that happened and uh you know as well as they're based on his peers and the other coaches. Ryan Day was talking about how impressed he's been this spring with Austin Sareville all that he's been able to do and Tyler Bohn was talking last week about the importance of the cross

training and all that that goes into that just how much have you seen Austin benefit from this spring and everywhere that he's been and how big of a piece do you think he's going to be regardless of where he fits on his offensive line? Yeah I think Austin's been awesome I mean he literally I mean you know what was they say he played every spade every position we just move around you know and uh he handles it and you know he's one of those guys I feel like he watched film over and over again day after day and his name never really gets brought up you know in a good way like you know the online your name gets brought up when uh usually not going as well you know I mean they're literally at the point of the tack on every single play so there's nowhere to hide and so uh but Austin when his name is brought up is like man that was a good job right good job pass off that combo whatever it's it's always positive and uh they're really impressed with him he started in the winter did a great job through the winter um again continuing to build a respectful his peers and then he's gonna a good job really good job just being uh very consistent through spring. Our left-jump Gilbert press pros. Brian and since you've been working more with the whole offense

of a close to quarterback play what has grown in your I don't know appreciation of that position and what those guys have to do and go through what do you think more about those guys versus maybe what you thought before is just a wide receiver guy. Yeah I mean I mean there's no just a wide receiver guy if you are just wide receiver guy you won't be a very later on it's all about it's all about quarterback play you know so I think in that same world though to the point is that you know in order to be a great receiver or a great receiver or you know receiver guy whatever you want to call it uh there's only one page just the quarterbacks page so everything is based off them there whether they're progression they're timing the stresses they have is what we're trying to minimize so if you don't fully understand the quarterback play it's hard to you know maximize receiver play I think you know that being said um yeah I mean I'm still always learning you know I think that uh I can't say anything's jumped out massively right now uh but I would say that uh

you know I guess I would say that the preparation level I mean the what is required to execute and play at a high level it's just not capable in the a lot of time right I mean there's only so much time where I'll be with players if you're not willing to spend you know your own time getting prepared for practice to be uh to maximize one's ability uh there's a good chance you're not going to maximize your ability so you know other positions I mean all the lines same thing I mean receiver play sometimes can can you know get away from it we do a great job studying and being in the room extra for sure but the requirement of a quarterback to know uh the fixed protections uh the BR run game coordinator based on the calls you know to get us in different checks I mean there's so much they need to know and uh and frankly uh the you know the old line's only as good as the quarterback the receiver's only as good as the quarterback the offense is only as good as the quarterback and it's our responsibility to put guys in position to maximize with their capable of maximizing but their inability uh to notice that they need to spend extra time outside the a lot of time

I think is critical and the amount that it takes I guess that was maybe a little naive too but uh the guys are doing a great job doing it. At the time just a couple more coaches got a meeting uh Rob Aller Columbus dispatch yeah Brian you know you get reached the mount top you got a banner out there national champs I think you keep these guys grounded being in the moment looking ahead not back do you are you tougher on because no I think that I mean I think we have a lot of guys you know what I think it's understanding that we were trying to build the map to get to where you wanted to get to but now that we have the map doesn't mean we've traveled the path so like we know what it looks like the guys that are here know what it's supposed to look like the guys before us standing on believe we'll example how to get to where you want to get to um so the focus is on trying to you know replicate what they just did and how they operated can't say we've done that right now so it's very easy to stay motivated because they already know it's not good enough

frankly and so the last thing they want to do is put in a ton of effort and then not reach their goals so motivation I don't think is needed I think there is a catching up of those and maybe aren't quite sure what it takes you know and but overall motivation is not what we've needed uh clarity of message is definitely what we've been focused on and uh I think the message is being received so not concerned about you know motivation and and the uh looking back if you will I think everyone's pretty pretty focused on being forward and knowing we haven't accomplished anything so who would you say is the leader of your wider secret room right now? well I would say carnal tape Brennan and his uh probably done the most most outspoken you know in the room uh yeah I would say they're doing a good job those are probably the two guys that would jump out my room yep I mean because Brennan he's been in trouble obviously carnal taking on that role

yeah more and being more vocal he's a good football player obviously he's the only other but that process for him and becoming a more vocal leader took for you to say that on him what's the question? carnal like what do you think like the growth of it? uh yeah I mean he's I think he's pulled guys aside you know it had one-on-one conversations with him he's locked in uh you know just I think he saw the impact that I met him made and the role he played and to think that you're gonna lose that and then be a better group part doesn't mathematically make sense to him so someone's got to step up in that role and one and one respects him too he knows he's capable of it and uh it's just the desire and the appreciation I think to be at the order table now the overhead and and appreciate the way I met could probably win about his his business and so um he probably valued that appreciated that and he's just being assured we still have that. Final question Bill Rebellt to close this back. Could you assess the running back room? I think it's pretty much assumed both those running back to CJ and and uh James think that's hand in system is probably the way you've got to go again.

How do you think how is it working and you see third and maybe fourth guys up in there? I think that you know in college football uh in a football any football really you got to have depth in running back room I think that um it's very apparent in the NFL it's usually a two-back system you know very very rarely is it one guy uh but in college I think we saw the benefit of that last year uh the ability to compliment each other is really important the ability for us to identify what they do great and put them in good positions to be what they are uh what their best that I should say uh it's really important as a coaching staff. It's been very impressed with uh even the younger guys Sam and and uh Bo and the way they've come along um the consistency so what you're chasing right you're always able to that's why you're here but how often you do it ultimately dictates how much you play so but uh overall I think locksmen on them they'd understand the standard and in past pro and uh not being a guy we got to sell out because you can't pass protect so we were blessed what especially with Trey last year and and Quinshaw and so um but

no these guys have done a good job they're competing uh they've been very coachable uh you know it's very it's shown a blog on film um but uh yeah I mean it's always hard on backs I mean every opportunity you get to go live and and break tackles really gives you the most feedback on what these guys are capable of you're just playing tag out there you never get any art at least you shouldn't uh but the running backs um you know on contact days it's done a good job James has done a really good job growing really excited about him everyone's really excited about him and CJ um so you know I think ultimately now group the uh how will uh I'll go with the group but he was probably based on you know the top the bottom rising right and you're gonna have some guys at the top but you know where's the floor and so I think uh uh bow and Sam those guys have done a really good job and many some more guys to get healthy and more more guys on campus but uh very encouraged and you saw him improve and then um McLean I think is a is a great plus I mean he is a guy that has

football intelligence he's picked it up you know he's kind of one of those incoming freshmen who still should be in high school he's a guy I think you're gonna point to and you can see right now he's gonna be a player over to the right Austin Ward the podcast uh healthy Mitchell Melton how does he fit in for your defense what does he bring to it yeah he's you know Mitch is that combination player you know in um in our four down um you know he's a guy that can do a lot of things uh drop fold in there and make plays you you see some of that all the time really athletic um you know we're kind of loaded at that end position so he's gonna play there but you know like I said last year and we we haven't needed it but he's a guy you would point to along with C.J. Hicks you know for the for the long season um people get injured you get a little light inside it's

always hard on the defensive tackles but if you're gonna play with uh three ends you know that matches a guy who definitely can do all that he has that over to the left Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch Jim you've talked about this before but I think in past years where you're going up against a really talented receiver group offense to encourage your players to uh it's not okay if they give up to the play and to go nearly almost the first half today where you the offense didn't get them the end zone until the late in the second half just and you guys have guys down the second area just what what did you think of that sort of trending how it's evolved in the way you guys almost shut them out the first time yeah I think it's become um you know an expectation now um you know our DB's you know our BIA best in America we led the country in past defense right I think it was 96 when I uh when I got here and it was number one last year so they've they've taken

that spirit so it's a competitive spirit it's an expectation now it doesn't matter who we're going against it's they they view it as a standard so that was good to see in the first first half uh over to the right Spencer Holbrooke let him in roll Jim we've talked about safety changing the way that you play defense in the Leo and the linebackers but how much does having the depth that you guys have a defensive tackle change the way that you can do things defensively yeah I mean you're going to play to your strengths you know and uh that's that's my job this is to what do we have and what do we do best and when you have defensive tackles um that I've said it before it helped our defense so much last year when you have defensive tackles that actually make tackles which is what we have right now it changes the way you call a game you know it certainly helps you be um in better shape on explosive plays on the back end you don't have to do a whole lot to

help those guys out because they're making tackles so you got to go you got to go with that you know you got to you got to let those guys play and and and they're good so um you can't get too far away from the scheme of having those defensive tackles make place because they're doing it and it works over to the left Tony Gurdman Buckeye Huddle Jim Ryan talked about the quarterback run being more of thing with the offense here during the season how much of when you're facing a team like that how much does that impact your day-to-day throughout the week preparing for that yeah it's a ton you know it I think it changes everything you do on defense um you see it everywhere from the NFL on down if you have a quarterback who can make plays with his feet your scheme better be designed that you know to to take that away into account for it so it changes the way you look at everything when you're game planning thank you Donovan over here to the right uh Tim May the Tim May podcast yeah Jim you might be doing it when I asked uh Ryan about just for example Calvin Simpson Hunt but the

corner scene did you play in almost with the chip owner shoulder to a certain xtanami Davis and Nick Benoson took the day personally it looked like you know what I mean because some of the hype going into the game but then what what do you see from that group in particular that who is you going into this offseason yeah when you can when you have corners that you can count on again it's just like having defensive tackles in the run game when you have corners you can count on that are going to compete all the time no matter what the situation is and we've developed that again it changes the way you call the entire game I mean you you're you're able to leave those guys on an island you're able to switch out converges and they know what they're doing and they take great pride in it so having those guys out there in the development it's a big deal it really is yeah I mean he's he did come in late and you know um he compete he's one of those guys that

just competes every day doesn't say much you know he's trying to live up to the standard or the other guys and you you see him coming along you know you see him step by step coming along and and you know put him in a you know competitive atmosphere same step up that's a great sign and final question for coach Knowles Dan Hope 11 Warriors you mentioned CJ Hicks a few minutes ago have you seen him take the strides you need to see the spring to trust him as a guy who could be a potential starter on his defense yes I mean uh I think CJ has shown that uh he has talent and I think it's my job to put him in the best situations for him because he can be a force um you know he's much better when he's bloodsing or he's directed because he's able to use his athletic ability but he has certainly shown that he's going to be able to help this defense coach thank you very much for your time all right and uh we will bring uh offensive coordinator and quarterback's coach

chip Kelly to the podium now we'll open up the questions over to the left bill Rebinoid's Columbus dispatch chip um what are your just general impressions of the offense coming out of spring especially quarterback we'll look at all 15 so I think you know uh this day is is a big part of it you know because it was the first time they were going to play some of those guys that were going to play in from the crowd and it was an amazing crowd you need to get 80 thousand for spring game now you can see some of the young guys kind of looking around like wow this is different than the indoor um but that's what they have to get ready to play it so um we got better from practice one to practice 15 you know it's still an evaluation through the whole process but um it's not something in the players bill too that we we're not making a decision walking off the field today saying hey this is the direction that we're going in we'll we'll be very authentic and and look through everything and make sure that we get a really good feel for what it all looks like and then who will best move this offense that's that's what our decision's gonna be based on I do I think we got a lot of guys there um that part's tough I think because you got to you

there's guys that deserve reps you know and they're all competing for it so you know sometimes you'd like to be sometimes when you had a guy who was an initial starter well he's gonna get the bulk of the reps to get them better but um they capitalize on it we really rolled them you know if you were at some of our screen practices you're watching all those guys rotate and rotate out and as we talk about all the time you know the old adj is don't count your reps make your reps count you know and we'll put it all together and really come up with you know which guy do we really feel is gonna make gonna help us move this offensively over to the far right bill landis the podcast kings of the north hey chip um you said when we first talked to you that the the basis of a lot of your success running the football just kind of figuring out what your guys do best and then leading into that over 15 practices now how good of a field do you think you have for that and then what did the next few months look like as you try to piece that all together really good question um it's it's interesting because the one thing that I think sometimes makes it tough in an evaluation is what a good front we want to get um you know so for 15 practices those guys on

the other side of the ball were pain you know jack and jt and tyley can those guys but I know come fall there's not gonna be anybody more happy that we have those guys on the defensive side of the ball because of what they can do so um I still think we'll have to really evaluate that what we're good at what we're not what we got to get better at what we got to work on but I think the work we got against such a quality defense was uh was really key for us uh over to the far left Nathan baird cleveland dot com so year ago at this time um it came out of the spring with still a lot of question marks about the offensive line um and even I guess that last season came out with question marks when have you seen that progress in the time that you've been here and what's your confidence level that that offensive line is gonna allow this offense to do everything it wants to do this fall yeah I mean I've been here short amount of time so I didn't know I really don't have anything to compare to so I kind of tabula rasa come in with a blank slate and just observe it I think we're really athletic um I think gani and and and Seth and those guys inside are really smart and really intelligent um they allow you to to be able to make adjustments in game um just

talking football with some of those guys it's like well this these guys are wired the right way and a lot of those guys have played a lot of football so um they can bank on their experience there you know I think we we've got about four guys that have played significant amount of snaps and we got to make sure we can find out who the fifth guy is um but that's similar to where the quarterback spot is I think and I also think of the offensive line you you're not going to play a 16-17 game just playing the five guys you know you really have to develop your depth there um there's gonna be a number two center that's gonna play a lot of football there's gonna be a number two guard whether it's on either side of the ball there's gonna be a third tackle I think you you're gonna get tested especially with this new in this new playoff format you really have to think that way so you know you're not looking for five starters you're really looking for ten starters because you're gonna have to you're gonna have to probably play ten guys to get when you get through a 16-17 game season over to the right Austin Ward the podcast chip I think it was the first play of the game the T-Formation and then the reverse center spin move with Will Howard under what's the inspiration for that package and that sort of uh rink of what the quarterback mr. Hayes he has uh

there's a looming figure around this whole program you know we get to go to work every day and the Woody Hayes athletic center so um it was good enough for Woody we're gonna stay there we we're gonna do it we ran some last year I think we took 21 snaps at UCLA and T- been a short yardage formation for us and we've done some different things with it but um also I think our players had a lot of fun you know practicing that and doing some different things so it's a small part of our offense you know we will not be in the T 21 times in one game but you know we may get in in some short yardage situations and I think it's come back there's a lot of schools right now that um are starting to do that you know it's really just you're trying to you know you got a half a yard to get you know you're trying to get your big guys in the game and I think we use three tight ends and two running backs in our formation today with Pecker being the the full back in that situation so um there's a lot of different things you can do in short yardage but um a little bit of a tribute to coach coach Hayes and and what he means in this program Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch over to the left. Chip did you look back now you've

been here two months 15 spring practices or something you feel best about what you've been able to accomplish with this offense well I haven't accomplished anything because I didn't take a snap but um I think the most impressive thing since I've been here is how close close this football team is you know some programs talk about a brotherhood there this is really a brotherhood um our practices as we talked about how good our defense is it's they're highly competitive but they're not combative and and those guys really work very very well together both the whole line in the d line the secondary and the receivers um the competition is the but it's got to be the best there is in the country you know and and that makes you better but I think sometimes competition you know guys can lash out and it gets really combative and then all of a sudden the fight breaks out and the fight brings out and we're trying to accomplish and get footballed on but I think the way these guys cooperating work together as a group uh as a special bond and I think you're you're going to need the the the closest team and the most connected teams are the ones that win uh over to the right here Andy Baxter and Letterman Rol. Chip obviously there's been a lot of talk about Jeremiah but Ameca is the big return in this group he kind of reminded everyone what he can do today what's

it been like working with him and what kind of weapon can he be for you guys. Good point and Ameca has reminded me and the other 14 practice sessions of what he can do special player you know and and J.J. is a really talented player also but you know I think I think all of the the whole group a carnal tape did some really good things watching him this spring and for all of them you know I mentioned it with the offensive line I I came in with a blank slate and I had no opinions formed not that really just wide eyed and just observed them but you know that I think that wide is really special and I think there's a bunch of guys in there and again you have to play multiple multiple games after the regular season is over you're going to make sure you're going to need depth like that and the fact that it's you feel a little bit comfortable right now that we got some guys there that can make some plays on the perimeter and that really dictates how people are going to defend you know so you got a couple really good running back you know so are they going to load the box are you really going to load the box and leave those guys in one on cover to well then it's the quarterback's responsibility to decipher that and get the ball of those guys

so or do they at least a double coverage they list a double coverage and now it's a little bit lighter box and you can run the ball so having too many weapons is a good problem to have second roll left pat Murphy 24-7 sports chip we've talked a lot about kind of the quarterbacks maybe vying for the starting spot but some of the younger guys what have you seen from them we got an opportunity to see more of them today than we probably have what's your assessment of them as they kind of get in this I always am so impressed with young guys that enroll early in watching how they get acclimated and what they do you know when you look at Julian and air and in JJ you know they should be in the hot lunch line other high school and they're out here playing in front of 80,000 people and they've really progressed when you watch them in meetings and listen to them and they interpret you know so basically the whole concept here is we throw them in the deep end and see if they can swim you know this we didn't baby anything we don't put the in-sell in with hey you guys are in style we're an install this with the older players

and then you guys you know go sit at the kitty table and we're just going to do the really simple things with you you know they get it all and the more they can digest the more when you're in a room when you're checking for understanding and asking questions and they can spit back to you the more confidence you have when they get in there with the plays that you can call for them so um those guys have been impressive they're still learning you know they were the the guys today that were kind of looking around and saying wow there's like 80,000 people here along with the offensive coordinator and the quarterback coach because I was kind of looking around because I had actually never been in the stadium until yesterday when we had our 14th practice in there so I played Ohio State once when I was at Oregon but that was in the Rose Bulls I had never been actually in the stadium until yesterday so I caught myself when I went into the stadium today looking around saying 80,000 for spring game that's impressive. Got time for just a few more folks over here to the right Dylan Davis Delaware Gazette. Given what you just said about throwing them into the deep end what stood out the most about Julian's progression through 15 practices and where he is as you guys head out of spring. Julian is a very fast processor you know he he really

thinks very very quickly on his feet like he he makes really quick decisions he doesn't stick on and read he can progress and any ceasing is really well for for a young player you know and not having been exposed to a lot of college defenses and especially what Jim does you know Jim Jim can make Jim can make a young freshman quarterback cry with some of the stuff he does but you know I never saw that with Jules and I that's been in press of his his ability to retain and you know him and JJ the compliment I would say them is if you got here and you didn't know what class they were and you wouldn't say that those guys are freshmen in terms of how they've picked things up and you know sometimes freshmen act like freshmen but the guys who are special they don't act like freshmen you know they act like football players and those are two guys that are are examples of that. Far left Cameron T. Robinson the athletic chip you on the topic of freshmen James Peoples and Sam Donald was around the second half yeah you talk about how deep you need to be in this era of

college football but as you search for RB3 what did you see from them today and what is what is their growth been like in this spring. Yeah James really flashed early for for me not knowing again kind of let's just take don't worry about what the background is where they're from who they are the this guy of this stars that's guy of that stars it's they're all bakais and there's how they do and I think James has got really good field and vision he can hit things I thought Sam did some really good things today T.C. is another guy who really came along during the spring and in work constantly talking in our staff meetings about depth we're very cognizant of the fact that the playoff situation has changed so you have to develop that depth you know used to be maybe have a parent of spare is what everybody says but I think you may have to have more than that you know you're talking about 16-17 games you're you're really going to be tested that way so I was really happy with with how those young guys have come along here in the 15 training sessions that we've had. Oh here to the right Tim May the Tim May podcast thank you Jerry you have your own

podcast yeah like these guys all had like a name next to their team name okay let's go cool he must have some juice if you got you got your name in your podcast definitely okay okay by the way I like it's not just the lunch last hot lunch last hot lunch last hot lunch last it's a hot lunch last yeah just two quickies number one do you feel compelled to let these quarterbacks know where they stand here you know it's coming up Tuesday you know what I mean there yeah you know where does that go I mean in your mind yeah we're all sit down as a staff and visit meet on it and then I and maybe he does an unbelievable job of I think all our players understand where they fit and what what the picture is and we'll give them our assessment this isn't you know we're not going to come back and but we do it after every day they know where they stood after practice one after two after three after four we grade everything they're getting constant feedback in terms of where we are and then after 15 which we had today but but we we can't do it unless you watch the film and can can really look at the things because you may see something but you're on the sideline you know why did he make that decision well I couldn't really see the field safety from

where he was okay now I understand why he made that decision so you know what but they'll we have meetings with all our players and that's that's always been the method so this week during you know between one day through Friday we're all scheduled no one's going on the road recruiting until after that but we're all a player meeting said every position you know offensive line defensive line linebacker safety is everybody everybody's going to sit down with their position coaches and know where they fit and we see them but do you feel a pressure with with the transfer portal looming I mean you've been a head coach for a long time I mean is that on your mind at TSD yeah I think it's where you got aware of it that I'm 100 percent and I don't think it's pressure but I think you just open lines of communication and everybody knows you know which what your evaluation was through the training sessions that we have guys we got to have we got real quick got last two questions Dan Hope and then Rob Aller feel like you need to have a starting quarterback named by and whatever the biggest things you're going to be looking for between now and then and determining who that guy's going to be well between now and and whatever

then is we're not allowed as coaches to go back out and practice with him you know in college football you get 15 training sessions in the off season and then they'll go back to work and with Mick in the in the weight room and getting bigger getting faster getting stronger they'll have organized activities themselves and they do a really good job of that but once there's a football out like we're not allowed to be there to evaluate and even assess so they're really from a football stamp on our own until August so you always want to do it earlier but I also believe every time I've I've been involved in this is that it kind of happens organically and authentically you know because the players know if you say we decided we're going to be with Joe and they all think it's Tim you know they're in the locker room with him every day players players understand you know who they'd feel is the guy and most of the time it the decision is very obvious you know when you just say this is where we are with it you know but there's that timetable thing I don't I don't

I can't give you an exact timetable on that so Rob chip you talk about Julian but typically in your experience you've done it again like Tim said a long time long does it take for the game to slow down for a young QB I think it depends on the individual you know I've had some kids where early you know you were like wow Marcus Murray Odo was like that remember vividly second practice and he got to the fifth reading the progression and threw it out here in this big game and I asked him why I do that I like I asked why because I don't understand it and I said why did you do that and he goes I don't know what we call that defense but there was like a lot of guys over there and they didn't seem like there was anybody over there but for him to process at that time he was right and he came back the other day whether that was cover 60 other day coach like I learned what you guys call the coverage is but it all happens differently I've got guys that for two years seem like they're just you know they're really struggling and then the light bulb goes off and you

know whoa like they got it so everybody has different learning styles you know our job and the evaluation process is to identify those learning styles so you know they're cognitive learning and auditory learner you know do they do they learn by field is it is it more a field guy you know a more film guy you know it's all different and I think we have to keep poking and prodding and and and for us as coaches that's the challenge too is what is their best learning style and how can we convey it because education basically is just a transportation knowledge but it really doesn't matter what I know or what Ryan knows it matters what they know so that's that's always kind of what we're working on and studying and thinking about and kind of where we are and how much can they handle and then how much is too much you know because this may be a great play I agree 100 percent but if he don't feel it's a good play then then why is it in you know I mean and that's that's this whole feeling of process that we're all they're learning awesome we're learning them so they have identities so to coach is really running quarterbacks and something you've always sort

of lean tour or is it year by year case by case what advantages do you like about because all your guys can run a little bit yeah I think a running quarterback causes problems for defense so when when plays break down the unscheduled plays you know if you just go back to the recent superbowl on that last drive the two big plays where my home's run the picture my home's another runner Andy's not calling design quarterback runs for Pat but when the defense matches up and plays two man and turns their back to the quarterback well maybe the best decision is to take off you know the second one he took out I'm like he may score you know a lot of guys go and they want a hook side you know and and and there's times where you have to understand if you do have a running quarterback and we talk about the best of the best ability is availability you know you're not low on your shoulder and taking people on but we are always looking for quarterbacks that have the ability to run we're not looking for running backs that can throw you know so you're not going to see us 20 times a game we're running the quarterback there are people that run offensive styles

and are really successful with it but with this group we have right now that's not now they can hurt you with the feet we'll did it when he was at case eight you know obviously Devon took off a couple times today air took off a couple times today Lincoln's a really really good athlete Julian can run but you know we're not calling design quarterback runs you know you're not going to see you know I tremendous from matter of respect for co-chays and the legacy that he left here the straight T is about as far as we go we are not going single wing so we are not going to snap and run quarterback ISO and quarterback power so but it is a it's another weapon you know and if it also keeps defense is honest you know three defense events is going to continue to bend from the quarterback closing he's on the edge and he's gaining first downs within the defensive and has to stay outside and contain the quarterback well then we can run the ball up and hand the ball off sometimes in our running game our quarterback really is a blocker he's responsible for a defender if the defender was cheating and fitting it on the run well then his responsibility is to make make the defense be honest and and and that's really air did that a couple times today

now we had a block that safety was sticking its face in there so we're took off around the edge what happens in next play the defense is wider then what do we get to do we get a chance to hand the ball off the run away coach thank you so much for your time and thank you for being a buck I all right thanks it was definitely addressed here you know this pretty easy I think Austin Saragore stepped up in a big way you know with the thought of being out and and then you know you know Carson can can play both guard and center which is good and you know we've actually you know San has done a nice job as well but it was good to see Austin you know he moved from guard to tackle a couple times and even with the ones he was in their battling his tail off so I think we have built some depth there but again you know we got to go play some games and see yeah you know again whether it's whatever happened last year's last year but I know that the message to our to our offensive line is we want to play I wanted the hardest playing offense line in the country now we got to play with technique but at the end of the play like knock the line

of scrimmage back and play with your hair on fire as hard as you possibly can there's a lot that goes with the playing on the offensive line it's all the communication there's a lot of things that have to get into place I think Seth has done a nice job of communicating and it's going to be offends better now takes control up front and brings everybody together which is great but but to me like that's it now we could list a bunch of other things but to me we've got to move the line of scrimmage we've got to be just playing with our hair on fire and knocking people back and playing physical and that's the start to game that's the end to game this is a destination spot for wide receiver you can do it right after you're on fire online you see that definitely and how do you get over that? No no I don't see it that way at all I think you know we'll see what what we got this year but I feel like you know we've got some really good young players in the system I think that you know we should have the best offensive line in the country that's that's the standard here has been for a long time and you know and so you know we'll keep pushing towards that this year and you know I think you know everybody in that room is the same thing.

I was a situation that will line back for you right now for a seat up all over the list. Yeah so Sonny has really stepped up and played well he's made this transition from safety to linebacker very well I think you did a nice job in the spring but you could definitely see as he went into the the summer it's just you know bigger stronger being more comfortable closer to line of scrimmage it's different when you're closer to line of scrimmage I was doing a better job getting his you know hands on you know on offense alignment and getting off of blocks you know he's in a better job doing a better job with his hands I think he understands the communication the linebackers always have to be involved at the front they can be involved and fitted to the back end he's doing that you know I think he's you know looking forward to play playing in a game and you know getting an idea of what it all looks like but I can tell you in practice he's playing fast he's playing violent and I think he's you know he does a nice job of taking the meeting to the field being very intentional about his work but playing really hard. Yeah I haven't

talked to Jim because you know we'll make that final decision here over the weekend but he's certainly leader in the club boss. Can you tell Ryan I mean Seth McLaughlin can tell he's been there done that is he as he projected that to the offensive line you're still and I'm saying from a leadership standpoint a grown man. Yes. How does that just come up how does it show up? A bunch of ways it just poise it's not getting rattled when you know coach parks at you it's okay I got this let me get it under control it's seeing something in practice and being able to adjust on the move it's being prepared when you walk on the field it's recognizing how hard you have to play at the position it's you know kind of all of those things in the one but he's got great communication up front he talks to the guys he's moving quickly in there and when you have experience like he has you know the game seems to slow down at times yet he seems to be playing it at a fast lover.

And there was a point where you got a black stripe off and I feel like you took a step in the right direction when you come in in the summer it is very difficult to get on the field especially early in the season whether he does or not I will see but if he continues to practice the way that he's been practicing then he'll give himself a chance to bring him a rotation maybe with you the season or later in the season which is similar to some of the water series he had before he didn't seem so many of those guys gets a match really in the season but then make him impact later in the season I think that's probably more his path right now you know he shows up and starts to break and you know we'll you know we'll give him the reps he deserves or like Jeremiah is in a different situation because he came in here in January and he was a little bit ahead anybody who comes in and January to me I don't look at him as a freshman anymore and then we are there in the program and we expect him to contribute to the program and we're still in there right there talking and communicating but in the

stream it is we've had it's been offense very defense so I've mostly been on the offensive side still kind of going through all those types of things and there's a lot to work through this year just with you know the play clock and then I want to mean that is you know the close to play communication inside of 15 goes off there's a lot of things that go on there and we don't really get notification on that so I'm trying to you know just help chip with that and some communication that word personnel but I'm very much involved with special teams I think with a two minute warning there's some strategic things that are going to go on in the half of the game that you know I really be involved with but to your point just overall just looking guys in the eye and making sure that you know they have to right look in their eye you know that you know they they understand um you know with the situation what's going on in the game you know I think that happens sometimes with young players you know they're just like playing the next play and that's not just how that's not how it works we'll get to win the situations and so you know all those things will come into play and making in game adjustments you know be involved with all three faces you know watching

you know the game on a tab with the try to identify what happened the last series and they go all those things will be happening right now Nick is going to be the starter and you know that that competition will go into next week but right now as we head into the weekend he is the starter and the plan is ready to go if it's part of what we do on Saturday against actor. He's got a strong leg he's he's made it a good transition into the country but also just playing you know football and not Australian with football which is very very different um the um you know snap to kick is really improved you know that was one thing as he's a taller guy so the ball has to get out of this you know get out this fit faster I think he's done that his time time has been good and he's been more consistent um you'll see you know he'll kick a few but just go right out of the stadium and you

just got a strong strong leg so we're looking for that consistency he's he's shown that here most recently so he's got the upper hand right now. And last question to be heard again. Well, Ryan I don't know if it's because Will maybe took a little bit longer to make a decision in December of some of the other top of the line quarterback you know because maybe there was a thought he wasn't going to be the starter. It can't be stayed too short but it seems like people have viewed him kind of as a game manager type of quarterback after eight months with them where do you see his ceiling of what what what is Will's special trait to you and where do you see him taking stuff? I see you know a bunch of traits there I think the first trait of size is big you can stand in the pocket and he's strong um so I mean that's the first thing you notice about him again whether it's standing in the pocket with boys I think that's another trait that he has that's excellent he he feels the rush um but he stands right in there I think the next trait is just you know his top end speed and he can run 22 miles an hour at that size which there's not a lot of guys who can do that

so I think that's the extraordinary and now I would say his overall leadership commands and the huddle is is another you know something that he's he's really you know grown into in the last few months and he's been here and then his accuracy he's been very accurate since he's been here um and when he knows what's going on and he can't just spell what's happening I mean it looks right just feel and and he can hurt you you know a bunch of different ways so um yeah his ceiling yeah that's that's going to be kind of you know up to how he plays his season but um you know I see a player who has a lot of great skills that you know translates well to the next level so you know we'll see but I know his first focus is on winning games around here so thank you very much plays mean you have nerves naturally so that's first complete I was good I was rolling

also there's a weird mean first time a striker player I was also doing it first start yeah um you yeah it's but like I prepared well um and camp and practice all week and I was I was ready um yeah I have two multi-year starters I did a lot I mean I couldn't ask them hey what we got here but I was prepared well I mean I was telling Jimmy and says like I would play our blocks we know probably emotional excited it was just that's a guide from Ohio what does it mean they started the game um it was always my dream to come here and play and start and having that like I mean I just gotta keep going keep building those days into games and keep building but what a much younger Austin don't you know I don't think even I told like me I asked my younger self even committing I wouldn't believe that now I have a couple of

starts yeah awesome has this happened faster than you I guess you're technically a soft one you know I knew that year two I was gonna see you some playing time now starting week one year two I didn't see that but like I was ready in spring ball like I knew I was going I was going to play some soft but so what does it mean to you to it's not only get the opportunities to play but it's like you play well enough now and coaching staff trust you to be able to get them but right there whatever the situation is like that so where are we on the year two I guess it shows like my preparation my hard work and just everything I've put into this and I just finally showing up on a field there a moment the golf season in the end of the spring and and I realized that you could play at this high level with the ones yeah yeah the definitely was in training camp I mean blocking highly can tie every day like it feels it feels a lot of

confidence and doing it well and not like getting balled or anything so hero in Jason Moore in Taiwan all those guys pretty much anyone on the deep and wide gets a little time so and came back as well so yeah he helped me a lot quite a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not someone else's but I mean he's like the captain of the whole line he's another voice on the line with guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons Donning Tiger that means another voice and another captain on the look ways of having that and I'm with this much experience help a lot he can tell you like before the play what's going on like how to block someone like what you need to do and it helps a lot. Take a talk about how calm he is

it's very very quickly how much does that mean you have a guy who's kind of been there and it makes us more calm like especially me and Tay does our first start so like we were up here with what Seth like he brought us down I mean we were like five like our emotions weren't high we settled in is that like something he tells you is that something you pick up on by how he's acting how do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to say about how he's acting and what I mean him when we're on the side of him both Josh Donning like he was telling us like hey we're cool like we got him but it's pretty much like everyone oh cool group how much do that as a first time starter how much at the end that mean a lot that was my first time ever using high pads we didn't use the high pads in high school but I mean you can say like try to remember the defense you just come on a silent bring up we'll play and get help up really probably the first or second after the I thought we say oh and settle it awesome thank you very

much that's why we're doing that's you can probably settle again the go that's um I want to say maybe I don't know but I mean when I when I'm pretty sure you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo you know I mean I'm I'm playing basketball all I can set up football and I feel like just the fast pace often so we're running really fits the guys we have right now I'm really excited for that I know you can throw a football like 65 guys but can you kick a football 75 yards and break it? all right I got a question Lincoln what was your question how is your room after you he's a blessing man I can't complain he's a great guy his name's Lincoln keen hoes oh he's cleaner I think we're both really clean that's why we kind of picked each other's roomies because we're very clean and we don't like our burdens really messy well it's true though it's the truth it's a real pretty clean stuff Luke are you still a cross-training attack or some

or if you just been off guard this way oh so far I've been all darn um I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice I practice I practice I can't end up being back attack like good and on but you know I'm just really focused in on this past practice is an excellent oh that mean a lot you know you put a lot of work in to play here and spend a dream just from being in Ohio kid isn't from a high-o'kits perspective it's I mean that's the biggest switch possible I would say that's that'd be pretty cool what was it like last year post game getting home and feeling for the first time it didn't fly this can be a weird answer but it feel like I was playing a game if that makes sense I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing really I just went in that first game was like shoot I'm here now it's time to roll you know they didn't really hit me I was like it didn't even hit me after but I want to like what you feel there and if like get out there and end the end I'm just like honestly I don't know I felt less nervous I didn't hide school and I'd make some no sense

um a lot I mean I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin I think prior to when my biggest role model here is my bigger big brother when I first made it I'm up to Dean I'm on my six to do okay yeah no yeah yeah so yeah for Dean Austin those are my guys man I mean even miles to I mean all three of them that's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on and I'm excited to see where they where they can get to on the side of the planet feel oh yeah you know it's been really helpful you know just keeping my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play that's a great question um like I said I mean the I just need to take consistent in my work I think that's the biggest thing for me is just ain't consistent worry about the next play absolutely I mean when you see defensive um and you see defensive start arguing with each other and things like that I mean I've mixed a lot of you here you know I have those 10 11

all the plays around something what was that life just once we should be starting to be like you guys would be doing something like a first game I couldn't play your role then they'd have to be the second game I mean it feels good to rip off these runs because I mean we put them so much more because in practice you know seeing uh seeing the product take reserve since that uh just off its align wise is y'all prepared this week with Donald from back in there they tell her hope for some really good this season um you know it's not particularly in Austin it's just more of Donald Jackson pretty seasonal American etc I'm enjoying the group you know Donald Jackson's a very good shootout player when he's on the field he mentioned present stuff uh man we we want to train him on my own there's no margin so we'll move and he's all okay it's him we know it can be yeah there's a seat to be there's a seat so watch it you guys you're even more of a force it felt like watching the guys they maybe maybe even if you know you did it feel like that yeah I mean we put in a work during practice we practice really hard

coach day really challenges us at practice hard positions coaches really uh challenge us to practice hard i was just a result of it but when it's grown up like that what does it feel like being in the mix and everything it's us it's when you work hard for something and you're able to see like what comes out of it like that's there's no better feeling in that my grab nah i mean i was really funny to see take a what what has set been off from you guys for the first two games what's it been like play next year for the last two he's you know he's really calm and stormed you never see real panic and having a guy like that next to you and you know you're having really

played as many meetings for snaps i mean there's no one outside of the apps in my left and some are right you know for our handset you know those guys they do so much for this offensive line she's people talk about his intelligence really kind of showing up in the film and then on the field where have you noticed that intelligence and how is that helped you oh yeah like i said and in french time you know when when things aren't exactly looking like how we practice it you know having a guy like that that will explode up we'll do this this this and then we're going we execute having a guy like that like this there's none better than that you know what you got what's my favorite cake no brother

uh-huh and now i'm standing i almost came back with focus on it this and more take a look at it Marshall they got to come guys in bodies we what do you see when you look at their tape and see 15 sad in a couple of those guys are pretty pretty pretty big so yeah those those guys there they're real players they're real players and so they're coach while you can sell um they go hard you know they're real players over there we've been practicing to the best of our abilities you know expect and i'm prepared for that you see they mean for jtk the last year they're doing yeah they play they play good ball over there and you know their defense plays hard they they challenge teams you know sometimes they might be overlooked and they still challenge teams you know and so they come out there with the mentality like no matter where in front of us

um i mean the actions right there right in front of you right now which is kind of a good thing and kind of a bad thing uh which uh shit off the rest you know hidden back in it inside yeah i mean i um i hear from parents every once in a while trying not to bother them too much but no it's it's always it's always good to hear from guy like that guys like the one even uh matt jones would turn him back and for this year uh just uh be able to get that job we've all those skills down me um i think it's a lot of things like my weight my just my height is more regard height but i'm faster my feet and i'm just gonna use it that you need to turn out sometimes like basketball or want to be on that just like defend but you know you gotta stay in stitch learning some blocks exactly

yeah that's a great question i mean i don't i feel like these two can answer that for the year right now i think kk and hero can answer that uh well i don't know i don't know what to say about that what do you know what to say i'm going to take a day this man is strong ready i'm talking about like he got the basketball here he's so like he can just do a thing so he can tell us where the fire is but just the hope we have strength is the hand and he got the grip there he doesn't
