Learn Polish with One Verb: GRAĆ (to play)

Cześć! Dzień dobry. Dobry wieczór.

Thank you for joining our Polish lesson. This week, we focus on one very useful verb:

👉 grać – to play

With this one verb, you can talk about music, sports, free time, and weekend plans.

1️⃣ Basic forms (very simple)

Ja gram. I play.

Ty grasz. You play.

On gra. He plays.

Ona gra. She plays.

2️⃣ Playing instruments – grać na

Gram na gitarze. I play the guitar.

Ty grasz na pianinie. You play the piano.

Grasz na pianinie? Do you play the piano?

Tak, gram trochę. Yes, I play a little.

On gra na gitarze bardzo dobrze. He plays the guitar very well.

Mike gra na gitarze. Mike plays the guitar.

Kimberly gra na pianinie. Kimberly plays the piano.

3️⃣ Real-life situation: Sunday plans

Co robisz w niedzielę? What are you doing on Sunday?

Gram w kościele. I play in church.

Gram na gitarze w kościele. I play the guitar in church.

A co robisz potem? And what do you do after?

Potem gram w piłkę. Then I play football.

Potem idę spać. Then I go to sleep.

4️⃣ Playing sports and games – grać w

Gram w piłkę. I play football.

Lubisz grać w piłkę? Do you like playing football?

Tak, lubię. Yes, I like it.

Gram w szachy. I play chess.

Lubię grać w szachy. I like playing chess.

5️⃣ Likes and dislikes (very useful)

Lubię grać na gitarze. I like playing the guitar.

Nie lubię grać w gry komputerowe. I don’t like playing computer games.

Moja żona lubi grać na gitarze. My wife likes playing the guitar.

Agnieszka nie lubi grać na gitarze. Agnieszka doesn’t like playing the guitar.
