welcome, welcome, welcome. It's time now to visit with Kevin Herne. Kevin,
running for Senator. Congratulations. Heard the good news on your Facebook and
X and everything else on social media. What a story. Well, Tom, thanks for
having me. Really good to talk to all the Martians up early. Appreciate it.
Appreciate it much. Here's the thing. It's wild. We've announced on March 11th at
noon and two days later, the president endorsed our campaign for the United
States Senate. So humbled by that. I really appreciate the president and his
confidence in what we're doing and what, you know, what have done the last eight
years in Congress, you know, America first agenda, 100% of supportive of the
president's agenda, making sure we're secure in America, making sure we're
bringing jobs back from across the world, manufacturing back, making sure we're
working on crime in our cities, you know, cutting the drugs that's out there,
keeping taxes low and now working on health care policy to make sure that
health premium health insurance premiums, you know, starting a trend
downward because they've been growing up enough and up for last 15 years under
Obamacare. Kevin, you know, the thing is that some folks would say, you know,
you're in a safe area. You probably could have kept that seat for as long as
you wanted. Why go across the retundit to the Senate? Well, I think it really
is really what we've seen in the last six months with the Senate Democrats,
you know, shutting down the government for 43 days, along with American history.
The Senate Democrats now shutting down the Department of Homeland Security
at our dear friend, Senator Mark Waimola, and is taking that secretary role.
As soon as tonight and opening up the seat for me having the ability to run,
again, having a proven track record working with the president, you know, taking
these ideas, that's why I'm supporting, you know, taking any of some of the
house and these ideas, these policy positions going to the Senate, trying to
win more senators to that agenda. And then the last five years, I've worked
hand in glove with the senators on policy as the policy committee chair that I'm
currently doing for the Republican Party. And prior to that, the Republican
study committee, which is the largest group of Republicans in Congress, the
largest caucus in Congress, we're going to conservative policy. And just again,
bringing both of those, those things that I've done over the last, you know, eight
years to the Senate, the president's excited. And again, that's why
endorse me.
Very good. Well, this is great news. A lot of us here. I remember how well you
represented us in our area before the, the districts change, and what have you.
And it's great to see that you will be running for U.S. Senate.
It's quite a, quite a deal here. And of course, we're not going to know too
much until we get that final vote here with the Mark Waimola.
And I guess everything has to fall into place to just, just right to, in order
for everything to take shape. But you didn't let any, you didn't let any grass
grow under your feet. And that's for sure. You took the initiative to move
forward with the likelihood of Mr. Mullen getting this position.
Well, just when, when center and half retired early back in 22 and, and I've
known Mark Waimola for over 20 years, and he'd be in the plentiful business,
maybe in the McDonald's restaurant business, we did a lot of work together
over those years, leading up to his 2012 run for House. And I was a big
supporter of his early on. I think his, you know, fighting for the
second district then. And then ultimately getting into the Senate. And I
talked back in 22. I felt like it was his time to do that.
And, you know, as this came forward, back on March 5th, when it was announced,
he was going to be nominated to be the Department of Homeland Security
Secretary. We move very quickly to secure up,
you know, endorsements. We had Senator Ron Johnson, Rick Scott,
Jim Banks, many others, Bill Hagerty from Tennessee,
as well as, you know, folks in the, in the House, like Tim Birch and
Brandon Gill and Hannah Paulina Luna, endorsing right out the box for us
around for Senate, you know, like five days later, we announced
officially on Wednesday, the 11th, two days later, the president
endorsed this right now. We don't have any Republican
non-pulnice. I'm sure we will. Filing is next week,
the first, second, third of April. So we're just working hard.
We're running like we've got 20 people in the race and we're 20 points down.
So the only way I know to run my campaign when I first ran for Congress,
my campaign slogan slogan is hard works is that again because that's
that's what we need to do. I would, I would concur,
everybody is listening to go to her and for senate.com. If you don't know who I am,
I would love to have your support, love to have your vote.
Uh, Bartlesville, as I said, to so many people, it's like the shining city on the hill.
Such great history in Bartlesville and great people there,
would love to have all your support. All righty. Congressman,
Congressman Kevin Herring, running now for US Senate for the state of Oklahoma.
Thanks for being with us here.
