All right. Dorset, yeah, you asked a good question. Let's dive into this one. How big of losses are on defense? Did you going to miss two starters for this Washington game? Okay. What was that you know? It's your church. Hey, you got it. Yeah. We bought the same team. We got the defensive mind. Yeah, never go there. We got tomorrow and overshown out with the hamstring hooker out with a fractured forearm. That's two guys gone already from the defense that guys in the

3:04locker room saying we had miscommunication problems that they need to clean up. Yeah. I think both of these losses can, I don't see, I don't think you're on the Tyler Smith level. We talk about all pro guard, you know, missing time. But they're up there. I mean, because you, when you look at it, these are both of the guys. One overshown was the green dot guy. He was the guy coming in with all the play calls, communicating, making sure everybody is on the same page. We saw a lot of mistakes that happened in that New York jazz game. But with him being gone, we talked about it a little bit yesterday. That linebacking court, you know, it took a big hit. Because now who you got in there, you got the rookie bar ham. You got Shamara James. You got D winners. Other than that, it's kind of a thin inside linebacker court that you're looking at right there. So I think that's going to be a huge loss for the Dallas kind of was if he can come back in, you know, two, three weeks, that'll be good. But I think that takes a big hit to this defense. And then in the second day, you got Hooker who was kind of already rotating at the safety position. I do believe it's a huge lot because he was a experienced safety. He was a vet back there that helped communicate the guys. The special teams as well. So when you look at it, I think both of these losses are big for the

4:08Dallas Cowboys defense. But that the Mario overshown injury. And we all understand how hamstrings work, man. You never know what they could nag you all season long. And his game is predicated on his speed. He's not the biggest linebacker out there. So his game is predicated on his speed. And we'll see if he can recover fast. But they're going to need him to. One thing about it. And you mentioned it first of all, there's not a lot depth in that linebacker room. Fortunately for what happened over the off season and the transitions with the DB room, we got a little bit more depth back there. So missing Hooker is not going to be as bad as say, just like you said, with that linebacker room. Now hopefully, and this is something that we all talked about in the off season, bringing in a solid vet for that linebacker room. And especially with overshown being young, barn and being young, why wouldn't you go out and get a guy like Bobby Wagner? Definitely, to come in, teach these guys. But at the same time, he's a pro. He's good for the locker room and everything else like that. So that linebacker room is going to be, we're going to miss overshown definitely.

5:11But thank God for the depth of the second here. So when you talk about special teams, all three of you play special teams as well. So if you're taking Hooker off there, where does that potentially expose them and have him find replacement to you? Because it's not just the replacement for Hooker, but it's the guy who replaces Hooker that you know, that's the other thing I learned a long way here is how you have to have your back ups ready to go immediately in a football game on special teams to go. I don't think it affects the special team as much when they get there. It's not that much when it comes to Malik. Yes, he's a veteran and you want him to play. But we all know like on special team any given Sunday, anybody can be that guy. You got some guys that are on practice squad that's are walking around on the team. Like if they just let him even sniff the field, he's going to be a playmaker. So when it comes to replacing that depth on special team, anybody's capable of playing in the new running back that we just signed. And I'm not saying I'm not disrespecting Malik and saying that hey, it's not as big of a loss.

6:17But to go out there, it's kind of like the safety approach when you think about the defense aside schematically. You have a number of DBs that you can throw in there right now for special team. You can do that. So for as missing him on that, I don't think it's going to be as much because he hasn't really. It's not like you're missing a turpin right now. Like you're the guy that won the one of play home run. And we already know if you starting a lot on defense, that person who is typically backing you up on special teams, may get a couple more reps here and there throughout the course of the game, depending on how long you've been out doing the field. So let me ask you guys this. All right, we understand that they know they got a lot of DBs. And let's just say PJ lock is the guy that's going to come in and replace Hooker. And it'll be, you know, Jalen Thompson and PJ lock back there on the nickel package base package. Of course Caleb Downs going to be in there. Do you think it will affect PJ lot playing on all teams as well as getting those starting defensive reps? Because I mean, Danny, my good example, Danny, who was on the show.

7:20He, when I went down with my Achilles, he came in and he had to play, you know, all special teams, Pant, Pant, kick our all that stuff as well as being the starting safety. And he was just talking about how that really affected his game on the deep inside of the ball because he was, he was gasped. You know, after the first quarter. So just wanted to get your thoughts to see if that was something. I was going to say that I think it affects it a lot because when you're coming in there, that's a big high demand. Like you already know if you're that ace in that special team ace, you got in your mindset. Like the team is dependent on me to make this now. It comes down to making the executive decision. Have you put in enough work this whole offseason that if you're thrown into a situation, you can keep going. We see some guys that do that. You know before the games cowboy nation. If you I don't know people are doing IVs, you're taking your body. It was like that whole week. You're prepping right now. So now when you go into it because I've been fortunate enough to put in that position where I had an increase on defense. I low key was looking at myself in the mirror like, hey, man, I'm about to make an executive decision.

8:20Do I do I say a little bit off a special team and when I go out on defense, hurry up and get this sack or do I go out here and give it a little more and look out with a high energy guide to where I can keep it going. But there was other guys that my boy Charles James, they play with the use and stuff when he got thrust into that position. It was like, bro, I'm gas. It's been a back to what you said because now now you're kind of leading me to where I did set my my my examples. Well, I want to okay, you're hurt. Danny McCraight comes in for you. Danny's getting tired. If Danny somehow gets hurt, the player behind him. That's one of his. Right. As you're going down that list of these guys, understanding what to do because it's always some small little thing on a special teams that can break something open, which can change the football game. Yeah. And you hope that you know, with that being said that it also depends on what your role is in special teams. If you're a gunner and you expect to start on the. That's a lot of if you force in the kick. Okay, as well.

9:21So that like that plays into it too as well. If you're a safety on kickoff coverage, you ain't running down for a speed. If you know what I'm saying? So there might be different roles in there that can help you save some of that energy. But if you're expected like and then I'm sure Danny was expecting gunners. He was in the top special teams dudes on the team when he was playing there. So you know, like you hope that the coaches and everybody who recognizes what you do as far as like what your role is on special teams. You hope that they say, okay, look, you know, we're going to spare you this time here. That's also played into it before you get into the game. And that's and that's where I was going to pick you back off of being a special team ace throughout my career and like transitioning. Those I've been fortunate enough to be around a lot of great guys. And one guy think of in particular Larry is a he used to always say like, hey, if they're not using you or utilizing you, let me put you a gunner. Let me give you these opportunities. And typically even Rich Bessace when he was there, loved him and dev, he would come in there and talk to you and say, hey, I knew that you can play. So since you're my guy, I want you to see on defense. So let me take you off of here.

10:24If we have some depth issues going into the game, he's not going to put all his safes in over here. He's going to say, hey guys, be prepared. That backup running back, you know, that doesn't play as much or a receiver. So I'm going to tell them to say, hey, you need to get ready because if we lose depth here, you got to be ready to go in. So I think controlling your depth chart is a big key factor in it. I was a gunner on punt team. And so like we had a special team coach named Bob Casulo with the Raiders. And he didn't understand like he would not understand like, hey, I'm out here getting double pressed. All right. At the gunner. And especially if it ain't no TV timeout. You run down back and back and right now they the offense running on the field. You didn't got double pressed out out here. You didn't ran like no, man. Explain the press. And the gunner position. Okay. So the gunner position is on the punt team. And it's the guy that's flanked outside like the wire receivers. You typically see one on these side. And we made a big deal about the play that was made by the guy from the Washington Commanders running through both of those dudes. But typically if you got two dogs out there, right?

11:26And that ain't going to happen like that. If you got two dudes out there with the like mindset, they're going to choke you out. All right. Like you if you're lucky enough to beat one and to get up the field. You know what I'm saying? But like and this is like we talked about it. I don't know what day it was. But this was like one of the hardest things I had to do in the NFL was to get two dudes over top. You typically going to be two corners, maybe a corner in safety. They're starting corner and safety at that. You know how to press. All right. This ain't two dudes out here who don't know how to bump and run. And if they're right in the head. Oh, they waiting for you to come out there. They dabbing each other up like, okay, yeah. Right. You know what I'm saying? And so you have to literally in that position as a wire receiver. I think all working right receiver should get a chance to be gunners. All right. Because if you want to learn how to beat the press, if you can learn how to beat two dudes, you can definitely beat one man. But if like that position right there is strictly for like speed, power and relentless. It's you got to have a motor to get to that ball because they're going to push you out of bounds.

12:27The pump might go to the other side of the field. So that's that's a tough one to do starting on defense and doing it. And then you take it to stuff further is not only are you trying to be too mean typically when you're playing gunner, you're going down there running about 40 to 60 yards. If you got a good punter, I had great punters to wear. My big butt was running down there 50 yards and not only after that, the biggest thing that you said that you threw in there, the TV timeout. People don't realize y'all seeing those commercials. You see guys that are dying on the sideline. I go just get this water. I know we got to go here or say you get a sack or something like that as gunner. I use that because you run along your distance. But say you get a third down sack. Big play high energy. You use all your energy celebrate. Oh, come rush this point over here to. Can't do. Speaking of special teams, Brian shot and hire mentioned Tyler Goodson and why they wanted to get him on their active roster and let it easy go is his ability on special. So he has returned kicks in the past and that's another another role for him on this team as well as being being a running back here.

13:36So and you've now got a running back room, which obviously Giovante Williams is your one. DeMarcado moves up to two. And so now you've got Tyler Goodson here in the room as well as Hunter Limpki. It's he talked about it and there's something Parcell Bill Parcell. So you speak how many plays do you give me? Mm hmm. If you're going to be up and you're going to be how many plays can he give me and so clearly they feel Goodson's given them more plays and Izzy was giving them. And that thus he gets the roster spot and Izzy's on the street. Let me ask you this, Newy, because obviously you've been covering this for so long with them making this transition right now. Do you see Tyler Goodson having an Alfred Morris approach where it's like you're a serviceable running back. If you get in there, we're going to let you spin, but we really see you being a special team asin just truly a selfless teammate. I know it's early right now, but do you think I don't know capability? I don't know enough about him to make that because when Alfred got here, we knew who he was.

14:37He was a guy who had been a star. Right. Under Mike Shanahan and then just figured out how to just keep playing his role here. And then the other thing that happened when he was here, that was when Ezekiel Elliott was holding out. And so he was getting all those reps, first team reps during training camp and ended up playing. And so they were kind of like, hey, you know, so it was like here's a dependable dude. We know can go do this. Goodsons not that guy and I just think Alfred Moore is just Man, this is just how to play. He was how to heck of a career. He's a solid dog, right? Like people don't give him enough credit because when I think of him I said right next to him a special team. Who's the scout that's been the longest scout Henry? Yeah, big dog Henry. He used to be Henry. That's it right here to tell us what's going on Then you have Alfred Alfred was the type of guy that when stuff was going on Hey, we need somebody to go out here and hit this guy We need somebody to do that he volunteered. Oh, put me back there coach and even when he was a starter doing his stuff And like a number two you know most of those guys don't even go over there

15:40He offered up to run scout team like oh, I'ma give you all a great look because He was being selfless to help the team But also it was a way for him to hone his skills to find two and certain if it was a week that his running back reps Got it took in the way or something like that guess what he was out there making cuts over time and stuff like that So soon as he got back out there. It's like why haven't this got me started and it showed up We may he was leaving the team in tackles. It was him and Jeff. He they were going back and forth So truly a great guy. Yeah, creating a new line of scrimmage Yeah, yeah, so that that didn't happen in the game. No, no, it didn't happen consecutively with multiple guys

That's probably last year two possession in a second half That's that's so the Cowboys offense had the ball for 23 minutes in the football game There's 60 minutes in the game. Don't know if they had the same amount of possessions But we just know that Washington when you run the football, you know, get 165 yards That's a problem and I bring that up because Washington ran from 132 yards of Philadelphia last week on the road So the Cowboys run defense that's something that has to be addressed. Yeah, you're going out there and just being a dog like even if he called in the place Guess what that's me that's me not me being mentally locked into if if on a couple of those plays I know for sure the technique would have been there if you would have just had sure one two and turn around How many times you know as old lineman when they get beat what they do the shadow box This and that how many times did we see linebackers bust the coverage or DB and when they turned around instead of turning and burning They turned around and was turning and crying and Or snapping your fingers like so I think it's both I think it's the coach coming over and saying that I think it's the coach finally coming over there

That's gonna help get that fix so I would be a little optimistic We've heard some of these same things last year and we were told during off season We were told during training camp we were told during the preseason guys are talking more than ever This is fixed what happened last year was you know not gonna be an issue It's an issue it's game one and it's fixable in game two But you just heard this before which is my feeling after coming out of the locker Boy I heard all this before thought it was fixed. It's not fixed and Brian shot and I'm her Christian Parker the players everybody's got to get this thing fixed because you're facing an O and one Washington D this game is for last place Whoever loses this game is last place in the NFC East with two divisional losses with a uphill climb of 14% to make the playoffs and I don't even know what the percentage is within two division losses That's just too regular loss if you add them in the division now

34:41It's really gonna get tough to try to make the playoffs because you're down to and the Cowboys you lose this you're down to and you Playfully it That's true and oh by the way next week got to go face King Henry and Baltimore on the road This is a challenge Washington and the Cowboys are talking 17 Monday night football games play between them 11 Thanksgiving Day Games 9 Sunday night games And a Christmas Day game and a Thursday night game and a Saturday night game and the 130 regular season meetings between these two teams here Is it still a rivalry Yeah, you can't be this one one side and and still be a rivalry. I mean, that's like You know, who did y'all used to stomp out when you were at Texas, and like that was your regularly y'all play them regularly and they y'all whoop on them regularly Baylor would you be would you all consider that I'm undefeated against Baylor? A rivalry I mean you just wiping the floor with them. We didn't consider a deraversy, but Baylor did Baylor came over there

35:46I was like oh, we got to get it and it's a long week It is like and I wouldn't even say it like that because as much as I would like to give us all the presents stuff We doing I think now, but I would say that a better comparison will be Texas like everybody you came in there Regardless of to you without here doing good or doing bad What everybody wants to shot at them because either their America's team or they're the ones that's gonna always nationally be televised like that's the approach that the Cowboys have to have so it might not be a rival for you But you got other rivals what they say behind every superhero's he creating a supervillain is laying over there in the cut Right now you created that little brother that's land in the cut right now if you don't think it's not the big dog It's not the guy that's always barking what they say it's a hungry dog that hunts best well that team is hungry and what I said earlier about the Cowboys coming in This is a tough division, but like you didn't really see nobody separate theirself this past week where you were like
