The father of two Perth brothers killed on a surfing trip in Mexico has given evidence in court at the trial for their accused killers. US correspondent Rob Scott reports from Ensenada. Day two of this trial here in Ensenada, Mexico was dedicated to testimony from those who knew and loved the victims. His first to give evidence was Martin Robinson, father of Australian brothers Calum and Jake. Asked what life has been like for him and his wife since their sons were allegedly murdered. He told the court it's hell. It's hard enough for a parent to lose one child, but we lost two sons in horrific circumstances and it's left a huge hole in our lives. Unprompted, the grieving father also added, we don't hold any animosity against the people who did this. What we can't understand is how they could rob the world of two beautiful men. Calum and Jake and their American friend Carter Road were killed in what prosecutors say
was a botched robbery while on a surf and camping trip at a remote spot along Mexico's Pacific coast in 2024. Carter's mother, testifying virtually, told the court, authorities told her the men were shot three times. Each of the boys was shot behind the head. I'm not an expert, but to me it looked like an execution. We also heard from a friend of the murdered trio who was with them for the first few days of the trip before leaving to go back to work in the US. He described finding the spot where the alleged murders happened. There was blood in the dirt. We found a shell casing. The friend also revealing the men's bodies were discovered dumped down a remote well with the help of the FBI. Tomorrow we are set to hear from Carter Road's wife and his brother.
