About this episode

On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Shares of Paypal (PYPL) plummeted ahead of the close after a consortium of buyout firm Advent and payment processor Stripe decided to abandon its pursuit of fintech pioneer. The deal would have ranked as one of the biggest-ever leveraged buyouts, according to people familiar with the matter. PayPal shares dropped as much as 14.4% at the start of trading in New York on Friday, its steepest decline since February.
- Shares of Affirm (AFRM) rallied in Friday trading to the highest intraday since September 2025 after the financial technology company forecast revenue for the first quarter that beat the average analyst estimate. Separately, the company and Shopify expanded their global partnership to launch Shop Pay Installments in Australia.
- ADRs of BioNTech (BNTX) slumped after the German biotech firm and partner Roche Holding AG abandoned a trial of a personalized cancer vaccine, dashing hopes that had been raised by a rival drugmaker’s recent success in the field. The companies made the decision after an independent board recommended discontinuing the trial, BioNTech said in a statement Friday. The drug is designed to use mRNA vaccine technology to train the immune system to attack cancer cells.
