Patricia Arquette Slams Tarantino's N-word Use

0:00It's March 8th, and here's what's happening across entertainment and pop culture. Patricia Arquette recently spoke out against Quentin Tarantino's frequent use of the Inward in his movies. She said she's fed up with it and called the director out directly, labeling it racist and creepy rather than art. This reignited a long-standing debate in Hollywood about his language choices. Back in 2019, the Dallas Observer tallied up offensive words in Tarantino's films and found he used the Inward 214 times. It appeared most often in Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight. Samuel L. Jackson, who starred in several of Tarantino's projects, defended the approach in an Esquire interview that year. He had no problem with it and even said he'd add at least five more instances himself during filming. Spike Lee has criticized Tarantino on this for decades, starting after Jackie Brown came out in 1997. Lee called the director infatuated with the word in question if he wanted honorary status in the black community.
