Pascal On Emptiness, Faith & Philosophical Inquiry

Blaise Pascal, the 17th-century French mathematician, physicist, and philosopher. He is best known for his contributions to science and his penetrating philosophical insights. His works, particularly “Pensées” (Thoughts), encapsulate a wide range of ideas that reflect on humanity, faith, and reason. Blaise asserted that it was best to believe as if there is a God because its benefits outweigh the risk of disbelief.

Pascal, who was a noted mathematician, was one of a few from his era that integrated faith with reason which often leads to deeper self-awareness. Pascal also highlighted the existential questions at the core of human existence such as the insignificance of humanity in the vast universe while simultaneously affirming the importance of individual experience.
