Panthers Sign Akayleb Evans to One-Year Deal

The 26-year-old from Long Island, New York, has spent the last two seasons with the team after starting his pro career elsewhere. Evans wrapped up a five-year college run split between Tulsa from 2017 to 2020 and Missouri in 2021. He went on to get picked in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. There he started 17 of 32 games, racking up 90 combined tackles and one interception. The Vikings waved him on November 23rd, 2024, and the Panthers claimed him two days later. Since joining Carolina, Evans has played in 18 games, logging 15 combined tackles and one past defense. This move brings him back into the fold for the upcoming season. Fans see it as a smart, low-risk addition to the secondary, especially with his familiarity already in place.
