Panthers Prioritize Edge Rusher, QB Backup in Offseason

The Carolina Panthers face their biggest needs at Ed rusher and inside linebacker heading into the offseason. Team leaders plan a target in Ed rusher with their first draft pick taking advantage of a strong class there. Dan Morgan, the former linebacker now helping run the front office, knows how weak that position has been. He might go all in on a top free agent or draft option to short up fast. While they could use a tight end upgrade and more wide receiver depth, the Panthers seem set with their young tight ends and veteran Tommy Trimble. They also trust Rookie Xavier Leggett, enough to skip adding competition there. Free agency offers plenty of Ed rusher like Bradley Chubb or Arnoldi Biketti, but those could get pricey. Instead, drafting cheaper talent makes sense, especially with other spending like a backup quarterback behind Bryce Young. Maybe Tray Lance, Zack, Wilson or Kenny Pickett. Running back is off the table now.
