And welcome to News Round on EPL index with me, Lohler Katzrobot's here to round up the biggest stories from up and down the Premier League.

2:03As we head into a three-week international break, two international breaks, push together giving us this unprecedented period of time to sit and reflect on all matters Premier League. That's where we'll start. We'll start with the England squad and with two high profile withdrawals in Declin, Rice and Cold Palmer. Both withdrawing from England duty, along with Tina Lee from Bobby Maynu, Marcus Rashford as well. Morgan Gibbs White called up and Everton James Garner called up in their places. I think I'm really intrigued by this cold Palmer decision here. I don't know if it's been taken by the player himself or by Chelsea. He drew our pedros, also Mr. for International Juicy, although he was not available for selection to Chelsea against Brentford, so possible that there is actually an injury there. But with Cold Palmer being cited as load management. And Cold Palmer has had a positive start to the season. He really has. You can't deny it.

3:05He's been incredibly influential for Chelsea, forming that partnership, Morgan Rogers, straight off the bat. But load management, he hasn't played, he's barely played really. He had the whole summer off, so it seems very surprising to me at this stage that either he or Chelsea are choosing for him not to join up with that squad. Especially because it's along the break, it's less constricted. There are some players that some managers, Yogan Copper, Germany, for example, is splitting the break in half and he's cooled up one squad for the first half and one squad for the second half. It just strikes me as an odd decision and I wonder what's going on there. I wonder if he is managing an injury. Or I don't know, but Cold Palmer will want to play for England. He will want to win his place back. It's big that he's been cooled up. So soon after that World Cup disappointment. So for him not to make the squad or not to join up with the squad as a surprise to me, Declan Rice is less of a surprise. This is a man who has played almost three minute of football possible. He obviously had that toe injury at some point in last season.

4:08So you can understand why he has chosen not to join up with the squad. Although I do always think, you know, the rival fan, when this happens, why can't we keep ESAC back for load management purposes or vets or whoever else? It does seem that some clubs, Arsenal Chelsea, are more shrewd about when they say their players aren't available. And I feel it's something similar here. It's happening with Kobe Minu and Marcus Rashford. Man United are holding on to their best players and protecting with Tino Levermento. It's understandable. He's been injured for most of this. In fact, all of this first part of the season coming off the back of an injury. Obviously, very well deserved call up for Morgan Gibbs White. It's a surprise in any cases. It's a surprise that he hadn't already been called up. But I do think it's something to keep an eye on now, especially with this longer international break. We haven't had this before to contend with in the Premier League. So watching how teams decide to use it to some teams before the season even kicks off.

7:15Who are the ones that are going to regret sending their players away for three weeks. Another international news, which is possibly not entirely Premier League specific, but I think still worth pointing out. Is Jürgen Klopp is now back in management. Here he is greeting the German players as they join the hamster. Just made myself jump. That was an incredibly loud video. Where is Jürgen shaking hands of people? This is good to see guys. This is a site we want to see back in football. Jürgen Klopp back in management, back hands on with footballers again. I think he is going to achieve great things with Germany. I really do. I am disappointed in a strange way that his return to management is coming back to Amfield. But I have high expectations for him with the German national team. I think those players are going to laugh and play with him. Obviously, again, just to where my Liverpool hat for a moment,

8:16Florian Vitz being part of that squad, that is significant. Mid is significant. He's going to link up with Klopp. If anybody can rebuild that confidence, rebuild that player, get him expressing himself and enjoying his football again, it would be Jürgen Klopp. So big, big international break for Florian Vitz. Big international break for a lot of those Germany players, staking a claim under a new international manager. But I really, really do think the next three weeks and the following month after that, we will be big games that Liverpool have in that month. Manchester City at home, Brentford away, Brighton at home, Arsenal at home. That is going to be the moment. This international break plus then is going to be the moment where you really, really do find out once and for all his Florian Vitz going to make it at Liverpool. And I think this international break, watching how he plays under a manager that has a similar philosophy to Andonia Rihola, is going to be really significant. So we'll draw everyone, even non-Niverful fans will be keeping close eye on Germany back with Jürgen Klopp at the helm. Let's just look very briefly at who they play.

10:20Of course, they always seem to be playing the Netherlands. So that is Shavvy's Netherlands coming up against Young Clubs Germany on Thursday. And then a nation's league group stage game against Greece and then Serbia on the 1st of October and then Greece again. Interesting. Interesting way of dividing things. But yeah, so that's four games there in that international break and four interesting games for Germany. This game Young Clubs back up against Virgil Van Dyke is certainly going to be an interesting one to watch. So moving on and across the league, there is some other Liverpool-related news just getting it all out the way at the top of the show. Some breaking Liverpool news before we lay them on, which I wish I could find the right link to. I'll put it up now. Sporting. So Liverpool, of course, on the hunt for a news sporting director and there has been

11:24movement tonight on that search. I'll just show my screen. Lyle Thomas from Sky Sports reporting that Liverpool are seriously considering appointing Julian Ward, Julian of Ward, of course, who held the role back in 22 to 2023. Signing Llew Stias, but falling out with Young Clubs and leaving the club, but that they are considering appointing Ward and bringing in someone alongside him as a co-sportsing or technical director with Brentford's Lee Dykes, one name in the frame. That is a name that we've already heard. Lee Dykes and obviously is track record at Brentford, the signings that he's made incredibly impressive, incredibly impressive, body of work there for Lee Dykes. But I'm not so sure about this co-sportsing director model. We saw it a little bit with Hughes and Edwards at Liverpool and it's something that you always felt and with the manager kind of fitting in in that triumvirate was a sort of unnatural, uncomfortable sharing of power and not necessarily something that was entirely easy and straightforward.

12:27We'll have to see about that one. It's not got me jumping for joy, but I do think Julian Ward is an excellent candidate and I wonder if the club is just being thorough in making sure that it's a competitive process. But yeah, interesting to see you Liverpool end up with as their new sportsing director. In other news, slightly strange news, Granite Jacques has admitted that he forged a COVID-19 vaccination certificate saying he's apologised for, he describes a mistake made in the state of emotional turmoil and has been left out Switzerland squad for the upcoming international. According to report from Blick, the Lou Sun public prosecutor's office is open proceedings against the national team captain who is expected to be questioned in early October. This is quite serious, this Jacques situation. It's surprising to me in the sense that it's just a really odd one and it's odd to me that he's, I suppose it makes you realise what a big deal is that he's withdrawn because this is actually a legal issue, but really, really significant for Sunderland.

13:30Jacques, aside from Brian Brobbey, is arguably Sunderland's most important player and we just don't know is he going to be out of the team for a period of time? Is he going to be prosecuted? It's hard to say. So certainly want to keep an eye on that from a Sunderland perspective, just because that feels quite serious if the Lou Sun public prosecutor's office is involved, obviously you'd imagine he'd try and settle that one out of court. But still serious issue and an odd one there, particularly because players have all the apparatus around them to get these vaccinations, all the medical support it seems an odd one to lie about. Never had Granite Jacques down as an anti-vaxxer, but there you go. Granite Jacques in trouble there and remains to be seen how much of a part will be able to play for Sunderland while that investigation is ongoing. Let's talk about Manchester United. Manchester United who drew against Fullen on Sunday afternoon at Craven Cottage, already

14:32probably winning the prize for the worst goal conceded in the Premier League this season. Lissandro Martinez shout out to you, my friend. What on earth were you doing? What on earth were you doing? That was genuinely unbelievable and goal, but deeply satisfying if you hate Manchester United as I do. But this is really interesting here, this graph from Opta Analyst here saying who works the hardest when in and out of possession, ball, mouth, nose, surprise to see them all way up here, Liverpool moving up through the graph, I think it certainly would have been close to this end of the graph last season. Manchester United guys, Manchester United rock bottom in high intensity distance covered and sprinting distance. And Gary Neville, I think a little bit with Manchester United, once Gary Neville picks up an issue on commentary, it does blow it up. It does blow it up just like with Jamie Caragher and Liverpool. And Gary Neville yesterday was fuming on commentary about Manchester United players standing around in Manchester United players having a lack of intensity out of possession. And he said after the game he wants Michael Carrick to stop defending the Manchester United

15:36players. This one is bubbling away. It's not going anywhere that it's not going to be. Manchester United crisis hasn't disappeared just because they get the equaliser. I think they're going to be under increasing amounts of scrutiny. But I think this out of possession stat, you know, it's hard to say undercarriage, I think Manchester United excelled being a transition side. But being a transition side, part of being a transition side and being effective in transition is winning the ball back. Now you're not going to do that if you're so lacking in intensity out of possession. So big, big problems for Michael Carrick to solve there. And certainly really concerning, especially when you look at these attacking stats from Manchester United, which I'll pull up now, also from opposite to analyst. So Manchester United have had more touches in the opposition box than any other Premier League teams have had this season with 182. And they've also seen their opponents have the fewest inside their own penalty area in

16:3892. And yet they're struggling. They're struggling because school goals, they couldn't score goals against 10 man-managed city. Caviar here, guys, the caveat here would be that Man United have played newly promoted Hall City on the opening weekend, which even though Hall were excellent in that game, obviously you expect Manchester United to have a lot of the ball. You expect them to exert a lot of pressure. Game thing with Ipswich, when I switch, come to Old Trafford. Third game of the season, currently slipping my mind, who did Man United play third game of the season and that's what this approach is going to annoy me. Third game of the season, Everton, again, again, you know, you never know a good side, you'd expect them to dominate. And then again, the 10 man-managed city side, dominating again and full of finding themselves, I think, bottom of the Premier League after these opening fixtures. So there is context there, but still deeply, deeply concerning who Manchester United, they haven't been able to turn that territorial superiority into any kind of meaningful

17:39score line impact. And I think as we enter into this international break into this three-week period where everybody is going to be doing some serious reflecting on their team, I think it's Manchester United and Tottenham, other two teams where the alarm bells are really ringing in Manchester and in North London for Tottenham. I think Michael Carrick is safe. I think that that Cunya goal has saved Michael Carrick for now. And I also think there's definitely an attitude around Manchester United, if not wanting to rinse and repeat and end up in the same situation. Again, reverse the desire, be on the other hand at Tottenham. I don't know how safe he is. So it will be very, very interesting. Some of the comments he's making are becoming increasingly unhinged, some of his behavior on the touch line, hiding in his t-shirt. I'll show it to you guys because it's funny. It's a bit of a t-shirt. Or to any sparse fans, maybe it's not funny, but to me it is. When you start to see managers crack up and it's not your manager there is something a little

18:41bit satisfying. I come across as a very sadistic person here, but anyway, he was hiding inside his t-shirt because he was so frustrated in that game. And I just think he genuinely looks like he doesn't have an idea of how to fix it. Tottenham looked so, so profoundly broken to me, even with all the new signings, all the turnover of personnel, the talk of new starts.
