Packers Re-sign Kristian Welch, Boost Special Teams

His agent announced the move on Instagram and Welch shared it on his own account. The Wisconsin native has appeared in 22 games for the team, with 14 last season and eight the year before. Welch brings plenty of experience, logging nearly up to 500 special teams, snaps over 80 NFL games. Last year, he played 87 snaps across eight games before a December 20th injury against the Chicago Bears, landed him on injured reserve. This move pairs Welch with Nick Neiman, another special team specialist, who signed a one-year deal over the weekend. The Packers are bolstering their coverage units ahead of new coordinator, Cam A-Cords Arrival. Meanwhile, the team is reshaping its linebacker group. They will lose Kueh Walker to free agency, but gained veteran Zaire Franklin in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.
