Packers Pass on Sweat Reunion | NFL News
About this episode
The Green Bay Packers are heating up as serious Super Bowl contenders, bolstered by a revamped defense featuring Zaire Franklin and Javon Hargrave. Rumors swirled about trading for Arizona’s Josh Sweat — a dominant force who just signed a massive deal — but GM Brian Gutekunst flatly denied any such plans. With Sweat locked in with the Cardinals and no indication of a move, the Packers’ defensive future looks firmly rooted in their current roster, not a reunion with their former Philly coach.

It's September 2nd. Welcome in. This is NFL News Today, where the league meets AI. I'm Corey with the story. The Green Bay Packers are looking like serious contenders this year, and the talk is they might finally have the squad to make a run at the Super Bowl. It's been a minute since their last championship back in 2010, but this roster is giving fans hope that they can give back to that big game. They've definitely beefed up the defense this offseason. Bringing in Zaire Franklin at Linebacker, Angevon Hargrave on the defensive line adds some much needed depth and experience, especially with Micah. Parsons still recover from that ACL injury. Now, there was some buzz about the Packers trying to trade for Arizona Cardinals, Linebacker Josh Sweat. But hold up. Green Bay's general manager, Brian Goudacunst, shut that down pretty quick. He basically said somebody's just making things up. Sweat had a monster year with the Cardinals, setting personal bests in sacks and forced fumbles. Arizona clearly isn't looking to move him,
especially after giving him a big four year, $76.4 million dollar deal last offseason. He's a key player for them. The speculation might have started because Sweat and Packers' defensive coordinator Jonathan Ganon worked together in Philly, and they even won a Super Bowl together. Sweat even followed Ganon to Arizona. But with Goudacunst's firm denial, it sounds like that reunion in Green Bay isn't happening anytime soon.
