0:00All right, sports centers coming up at about 12 minutes. Our first look is traffic as we, uh, we all kind of collect ourselves after the last 24 to 36 hours or so. I guess it is the day to collect yourself when, uh, schools were closed today. Uh, government offices were closed today. You mentioned traffic was a lot better. Yeah. Well, I was drive usually about two o'clock, traffic will start up. So if I'm coming into the studio at two o'clock, I'll run into a little by the, um, as, uh, you know, anyway. But, um, yeah, today it was, took like, I, I texted you. I said, I'm gonna be a little late. Right. Coming from rehab, going to be a little late. And then I was like, Oh, wait, I'm here like 20 minutes early. You were so early. You asked me what time it was. I watch broke. I've never had to Apple watch. So those things not supposed to break. Well, I've lost two. Look, I lost my, I lost my wedding ring. Oh, no. I don't know. Well, because it was big. So I keep taking it off because it's going to fall off.

1:01I put it somewhere. I have no idea. Oh, man. Yeah. Uh, a couple of, no, that chicks think I'm single. Oh, geez. Let's not let that word carry. Um, by the couple of pieces of news, uh, flood watch has been canceled for, uh, I believe this is for most of the state. If not, yeah, most of the state, uh, it's still up for Malian, Hawaii, Island. And, uh, oh, go ahead. No, I'm just going to say a good thing about this storm is, I mean, if there was such a good thing is that when it was passing, it was moving quickly. So it didn't kind of linger over us. Right. The, um, high surf warning is canceled for West facing shores of all islands. Um, high surf advisory canceled for East facing shores of all islands. And I did see one more thing from Department of Transportation, uh, Farrington highway, I think is back open in sections of Nanakuli and Makaha. Um, I don't know if you saw the news, but you could see it. Uh, there was a portion think near a Lua Lua, uh, naval road where they had video of like,

2:05you know, um, surf washing over. There's a whole bunch of sand. And you see crews all afternoon yesterday into the morning with bobcats and everything, trying to like sweep up all the sand and get it so they can, you know, clear the road. I think this morning they were contra flowing. I think it's for, for local residents only. But, uh, DOT was saying that they might have done it already at three o'clock. They were, um, uh, reopening sections of Nanakuli and Makaha East bound lanes of Farrington highway between, uh, Halei, Lua Street and Lua Lua, naval road remaining closed motorists, contra float in both directions through the, uh, through the West bound lanes. So that's the update. All right. Uh, time for the thing that we usually do on Monday, but it's not Monday. Recognizing the best performances from the high school football weekend. It's time to hand out helmet stickers presented by H camp, the Hawaii concussion awareness management program. All right. Thank you to, uh, thank you to Dr. Nate got to see him.

3:09Yes, uh, Saturday. Oh, good. Yeah. Did he bring you a visor? He did bring me a visor. Did he bring you some gifts from Ohio State University? No, the visor. Just the visor. Okay. It's a nice looking visor. Okay. I'm, uh, he was going to bring you like a sticker or something. Oh, I do. I still have my, uh, my sticker and my buck. I from I still have my buck. I on my desk in my home office. All right. Uh, I'll let you, uh, let you go first. Okay. Uh, helmet stickers. I'm going to Charleston, Salazar, a name you're hearing a lot this year already, uh, running back from Campbell High School 98 yards in a touchdown versus a tough come. May, I may have defense. Yeah, tough defense, but come here. I may have just can't score and all of a sudden. I mean, we were talking about a team that, um, you know, could get back to the state championship game, lost last year against Campbell and an epic game. All of a sudden, one, they've had a tough schedule, but one win so far. I mean, they're still ranked, I think number six in the home of the star advertiser. But, uh, you know, um, put a whole very much like them as well.

4:13One win so far. Yeah. Um, but, you know, playing good defense. Um, I will, you mentioned a game involving Kamehameha Kapalama. I'll mention a game involving Kamehameha Hawaii, uh, their quarterback Kahekili Maki Kau in what some people kind of thought was a surprise win over Kona Lina, who's been a top 10 team in the star advertiser poll, uh, three passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown as a Kamehameha Hawaii upsets the wildcats of Kona Lina. All right. Uh, I got, uh, Lucky Suguturaga, uh, the Kuhu Kuhu Korderback. 18 of 28 for 178 yards, two touchdowns plus 58 yards rushing in a loss, unfortunately, uh, to Junipero Sarah, uh, team from California. All right. You mentioned a quarterback. I'll go white receiver, uh, white hole Williams. He's a fantastic kid, uh, out of Damian, uh, five catches, 136 yards, two touchdowns. Damian gets its first win of the year. Let's go Mont-Arts.

5:13Uh, defeating Farrington, who is still looking for its first win of the year. Um, that, someone was going to have to win that game and, uh, unfortunately, Farrington right now, Owen Four. And they've got Moana Lua, which is going to be another tough test coming up on Friday. All right. Uh, finally, for me, I'm going to give the whole Coppola defense, uh, Helmett Sticker, holding Potoho to a scoreless, uh, uh, 14 to nothing win. If you're going to give it to a whole unit, you might as well give him more than just a Helmett Sticker, give him like a pizza party or something. I give him a pizza party and mollasadas. Oh, boys. Oh, well, that's, that's saved for the front line. Uh, speaking of defensive lines, uh, my last one goes to a CEO, Tommy Malafu from, uh, Capa, five solo tackles to assisted three TFLs, a sack and a forced fumble. He was busy. That's a busy day. Yeah. Uh, Capa getting, uh, believe it or not, it's first win.

6:13Uh, they had the tie against Potoho, uh, just a couple of weeks back. Capa winning over. Why may a final score of 19 to nothing. We make fun, by the way, of how often the I L H teams in the open division have to play one another. Mm-hmm. Uh, let me just remind you for a second. In, in the KIF, they play each other like three times. So, uh, you only, cause you only have, why may a Kauai, Capa. Mm-hmm. So in order to get all those games in, you're just playing each other like every other game. So I am bet that's really tiring and probably, like tiring mentally and probably also really annoying. But that's really like all you get to play against. Yeah. So, um, Capa's a real fun team. I think we've mentioned a couple teams in division one that I think are going to be, um, really good state contenders. Capa, why Pahu, we didn't mention this week. Damien, I think, will be interesting. Kono Lina, heck, come in, Hauai, if they keep playing the way they are.

7:17Division one, uh, it could be very well stacked. Yeah. But, you know, I'm excited about Coppolae. Yes. I'm excited about Coppolae because they're always kind of, they're in it. You know, it's like they're the, uh, LA or Oakland Raiders. I can't remember in the 70s. But they got really good players and they're in it. But, you know, and they have to do have a couple of super balls. I do get it. But where, you know, you look at all of the Hall of Famers and you think, gosh, what great players they have. But for some reason, they fall short probably because of the mighty Steelers, but we'll talk about that another time. But, uh, Coppolae's like that. They're always in the mix. But, you know, maybe this is the year. Maybe in, in these non league portions of the season, you don't know how to judge a team. I don't know that I can say that about Coppolae though. They've pitched two consecutive shutouts. Just some tough guys. Y Pahu has a win over an open division team. So they, they have a pretty quality win there. You beat defending state runner up, beating Punahos, a very tough team, even though offensively

8:22I think they're challenged a little bit. And they lost their quarterback to Milleleini. Yes. Coppolae three, you know, they'll play the defending state champs coming up on Friday and Campbell, who's kind of finding themselves right now. Um, if, if I had to do like a top three, Coppolae would be my number two right behind Milleleini. And then my next question is, and I don't know the answer to it definitively, who is, who is my number three? I'm definitively, I am confident that one in two in the state is, is Milleleini in a tier by itself, Coppolae a little farther down in a tier by itself. And then there's, I think there's a couple of teams right after that. Um, Kamehameha, Campbell, um, that I think, uh, that I think are all in, in the very similar tier. The problem is they, I mean, some of them just can't score points consistently.

9:24And I have to put Kahuku in that category because they're just so good defensively, but they're not going to wow you offensively. So they're going to play tough games every single week. Well, if they, you know, I'll, they'll get a transfer in the middle of this. Oh, no, you didn't say that against them. I weekly, you know what? I might say why Pahu, I might be a little crazy and put why Pahu way up there. Maybe. Well, I was only going to go open, but if you're talking about why Pahu, that's since that's division one. I know. They're saying, no, I, I totally hear you. I, because you know, after those first two, it's a toss up. I don't think it's Campbell, at least not right now. Okay. Where do you put Kamehameha? I don't know. There's only one, one game. And I know they've had a tough schedule, like I said, but I don't, you know what? I put them off to the side right now. I, I, look, they're, they should be a top 10 team, right? But they only have one win. So I can't, they need, they need to win a couple of games.

Uh, we're going to give away a trip from Ford to Canada to go to big white ski resort. So you're going to qualify sometime this hour, be listening for Uncle Lus, big ski white guy to say, I know. When you hear that guy, be the ninth caller. Get ready for fun. I will say it is incredibly, incredibly catchy. Uh, but I get I'm stopping that right now. Uh, he said, all right. Kurt Favella has taken his case to the white Supreme court. LOL. For those that don't know, this is because his race was tied in, uh, in the primary election. Uh, one of two, yeah. One of two races that were tied. The other one, I think it's the Kapolei area, uh, went to the Supreme court. It's because someone else texted it in. Um, the other race went to the Supreme court. The Supreme court last week said, no, we're not going to be decided by, uh, papers in a Laughala basket. Uh, we are going to do this in the general election. And I can imagine that that's what they're doing here. Did it say papers? It was Easter eggs or something like that. They had to name each Easter egg.

13:30Sorry. The visual of that to decide an election is. But that, but that's what the law says. They did what it says. Well, they said it's, it's like the choice of the elections officer. Like it doesn't say literal Easter bat Easter eggs in a long time. No, no, no, no, no, no. But it said a drawing by lot. Right. Exactly. Um, he put the, he put them in did, put the fine, some Easter eggs, take the candy out and put a name in each one. Right. Party city closed. Where do we go? It's not Easter time. We can't find eggs. Your sister in law probably has something to closet for kids from last year. Yeah, because he saved them for next year. That's right. Uh, so yeah, we'll see what happens. Obviously, um, that gets brought up a lot because there are people who, uh, have feelings about Kurt Fevella and how he feels about university of Hawaii athletics. So, uh, that's a thing. Watch Bob McDarribe just as bad or worse, you know, who's waiting for

14:33a university of Hawaii baseball player Marcus Owens, um, who is on the democratic side, or the Democrat side of the ledger for November's. For some reason, that's, and that seems like it's a Republican, uh, neighborhood lately. There have been a few Republican, uh, Republican neighborhoods that have popped up more toward like the west side of the island or is our, your Kailuas and places like that. Yeah. I, I've, I've heard a lot of different things from pundits, which is why we're news junkies, because we take it all in. Yeah. Oh, by the way, somebody just texted in. Is there a Josh Walker show today? No, not today. It's going to be, uh, week from today at Ruby Tuesday. I think that's my fault. Why? Uh, when I filled in for you the last time, oh, the first time when coach Walker was late. Uh, I remember saying something about the next Joshua Walker show being like, I couldn't count weeks. So I said two weeks from that day. Or something you can't do because they're on the road or for whatever reason he couldn't do.

15:33So we got like four more of those. And then working on some other ones too. Good for other coaches. Um, one more here. Since we talked about, uh, if you're just tuning in, we did our helmet stickers last hour, and we'll, uh, we'll get those out to our folks on the digital team. And they'll put it up online. Thank you to H camp. Uh, Campbell was a team that we talked about. And from the 497, haha. Remember what you guys said about Campbell last year? Well, I don't have it. Really? I don't remember. I probably said it, but I don't think they're, I don't think they're lying. No, I don't think they are either. Well, I hope they have it too. I hope they're, they could be number three in our poll. Yeah. Um, we only can go by, I think what, what we've seen everybody do. But, uh, I, I can only say that I think Miley Lonnie's been consistently better. And I think I can only say that, uh, um, who's my number two team? Couple a couple a has been, um, consistently better.

16:35But Campbell's right there. And that's the fun thing. We've got two and a half months until we decide a state camp, which is, it's early this year because it's going to be the week before Thanksgiving, not the week of Thanksgiving. So, uh, yeah, it's going to be a little, a little different this time around. By the way, uh, one quick news item here, since we are all news junkies, Hawaiian Electric says they have restored power to approximately 13,100 customers on a Wahoo, uh, following Lowell. Then as of three o'clock, 7,900 customers remain without power, mostly leeward and winward coasts. Um, and they expect to restore most Awahu customers later tonight. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. That's make a joke of that. Just as as you're reading a press release and it says, I thought I was going to say, as of three PM, approximately 7,900 customers remain without power. They have yet to pay their bill. Oh, geez. That wasn't the case. So bad.

17:36Peel out you. Peel out. From the two to eight. Did you guys talk about melee Lonnie embarrassing our state the past weekend by fighting and getting the game called early? Second time they did it this year. Whoa. Okay. I, you know, I was wrestling with this one. Melee Lonnie was on the road and they were playing a team in, I think they were in Vegas. If it was Vegas or California, but they were playing a team and, um, they, they won pretty handly. It was, uh, they were, they were in Vegas. They were playing at Liberty. Uh, they were playing a team called Foot Hill and they won it 30, 43. The game was called in the third quarter. And apparently, so there's a rule and someone was covering this game and there's a rule in the, I think it's, I think it is Nevada's, um, high school federation, where if you have three players leave the sideline for an incident or whatever over the course of the game, the officials have the ability to say, you know what,

18:41we're calling the game. That's over. You can't have three people leave the sideline for any kind of an incident or anything like that. So apparently this happened now with Melee Lonnie players leaving the sideline. But that's the thing that do we know it's Melee Lonnie players? I don't know. And, um, from what I had read, um, there was the coach was saying that the coach from Foot Hill was saying that it was Melee Lonnie's players. There wasn't anything that I saw that directly said it was Melee Lonnie's players. Um, but here's what happened. Justin Lafferty was covering this game. He is, um, he covers minor league baseball and prep sports in Las Vegas. He's a freelance writer. Throne punches leads to the game being called with 351 left in the third officials walking off the field. And again, NIA rules. If more than three players leave the sideline and go onto the field, the game is over.

19:43Foot Hill head coach Vernon Brown claimed to the players who went onto the field were for Melee Lonnie, not foot Hill. Oh, from that point, I don't think we've heard, um, Rod York's side of the story. I don't know if anybody's are we going to? Right. Exactly. Where he's not going to say anything. No. The point that I'd like to maybe something from the OIA. I'd be curious what the OIA has to say. You make a very good point, but are we going to hear anything? No, probably not. The, are we hearing anything from the DOE? No, probably not. Um, the reason why the texture says second time they did it this year is, it's been a ledge. And actually, I've heard Billy talk about this too. Um, there was an incident that cut short a scrimmage between, I think it was Melee Lonnie and Kamehameha. And the scrimmage didn't last very long. And, um, whatever the incident was, I wasn't there. I saw, I don't know who started, who ended, whatever.

20:43Uh, I'm going to be very careful about that because I don't want to start getting into, um, who done its here. Yeah. But allegedly that was called early because of whatever fracas was going on. Um, you mentioned though, do we hear anything from the OIA? I'll, I'll even just, you know, bring it more to a micro level. Um, has anybody bothered asking the principle of Melee Lonnie? Hey, what do you know? Um, is there, you know, if, if there is the belief that this was something that Melee Lonnie started, which we don't know, uh, is there going to be some kind of like investigation into that? Because that's not right. Football, we always talk about college football, right? Is what opens the door to people paying, going to your school. High school football is one of the most visible aspects of your school, especially here when you're on television and people go to the games. Well, and you know what, if, if Melee Lonnie high school, the principle should actually, you know,

21:46okay, what's going, violence in high school sports? That's something that has been pretty prevalent in the news the last year. So if this is, is a team, and I don't know for sure, but if this is a team that is out there starting fights, that, hey, you know what? There's, there's problem going on with your football team at your school. And what are you doing about it? I think that's a fair question to ask the principle who's ultimately in charge. What are you doing about it? What have you done about it? And, you know, I mean, it's just, the last thing we need is more violence and more news stories about violence in high school sports. It really is. I wonder what the reaction would be if that game was played here. And it wasn't played in Nevada, where largely because none of our media who, you know, was there to go watch it. We're relying on a freelance reporters post on the X platform.

22:49Yeah. You know, I'd be curious, but if I'm the principal, I get the coach in my office and say, what happened? How are you going to make sure this stuff doesn't happen again? Especially if this is the second time, there's been a problem. Now, is this happened with other schools this year and we just don't know about it? I don't know. It's fair to ask that question. Is it just a Miele Lani thing or is it a high school football thing in Hawaii? So here's what USA Today to wrote. This was written two days ago. Not today. Not the USA today. Melee. Melee. Melee Lani, the number 13 team of the USA today, super sports, 15 West rankings entering the week when I have rankings for everything had just scored a touchdown on an eight yard run by Makacoa West. The visiting team attempted the point after attempt and as the kick went through the uprights, punches were thrown. The scrum started as a minor skirmish near the line between a few players and quickly boiled over to multiple players throwing punches, being shoved and helmets taken off.

23:56The fight was mainly limited to the field with a handful. Okay, here's this is I guess the money paragraph. The fight was mainly limited to the field with a handful of Melee Lani players rushing onto the field as nearly every foot hill player remained on their sideline. Coaches from both sides rushed onto the field to quickly break the fight up. Once both teams run their respective sidelines, the referees met near the side of the scrum and after a few moments announced that the game was over with Melee Lani leading 34 to 3 is foot hill fans booed and jeered from the stands. Well, I guess that tells us a little bit more. Well, yeah, and we don't have that rule in Hawaii. And they have that rule in Nevada. So those guys knew to stay on the sideline in Hawaii. You're like, hey, it's not our rule. Right. Oh, that's unfortunate that you have all of these players running on the sideline. But part of the culture too is if you're a player for Melee Lani and you don't run out on the sideline and get your brothers back,

24:57right? You're going to have a problem with your, with some teammates. It's almost like you have to run out on the field. What's also not great here is when this happens and it gets picked up by USA today. Yahoo sports. I guess this guy who's a freelance writer got his post in the Las Vegas Review Journal. And it got a quarter to from, uh, from the coach from the other side. So yeah, I mean, you know what? I, we're not going to hear it, but I think the OIA should say something. It's not a good look. Again, we don't know what happened with the whole, you know, Kamehameha situation in that, uh, that preseason scrimmage. So we don't know. But there's, there's an account apparently that says that it was Melee Lani players that were rushing the field. So if that were the case, this is just me. I'm just, I'm going to go ahead and use, um, my own logic here.

26:00Usually in like the NBA, if that happens, you leave the bench when something goes on, you're rejected from the game. You might actually face a suspension. And that's why this, that's why this comes from real quick is that before, I mean, you had guys getting seriously hurt in the NBA, uh, from fights. And then they basically said, if you leave the, you know, the sideline, you will be ejected from the game and suspended and all of that. Yeah. And so now when there's a fight, when there hardly ever is anymore, just because you don't want to break your hand because, uh, you know, you'll be out millions of dollars. But, um, now you don't see people. If there is, they don't leave the floor. That's right. And it's just they've been conditioned to do that. If it were me, um, if I had my way, if you were throwing punches in a, in a, in a fracas like that, automatically, um, you're not playing the next game. No, if Sanser buts about it. Mm-hmm. If I wanted to be real strict, I would say if you left the sideline, uh, you're not playing the next game.

27:02Yeah. And you know what? If that means that we don't have a team or we have to call up a bunch of JV guys to go play a game. Right. Then you know what? That's what you're going to do. That's what you're going to do. You know, there was, um, um, and I can't remember. Is Miele-Lani staying on the main line and playing another game? I don't know, um, off the top of my head. But that's exactly that's what you have to do as a leader of these young men. Um, I mean, this is something that to me, this is one of the great leaders in local sports is Darren Hernandez. Um, at Coppolae, I don't know him that well. But, um, you know, he's a guy that would not stand for this kind of stuff. And so if you've got your players doing this, you better make, I mean, you owe it to the kids and their families and your community to take a stand on this and don't just go, hey, they punched this first or whatever. Not saying they, that's what they're saying. But I'm saying there's no excuse for this. And you as a coach before you're even asked, should come out and say,

28:06we're taking disciplinary action on these players that went out there on the field and started a fight. That's not how you want to represent the state of Hawaii when you're on the main line. Then you don't even need to name the players. Just say we're taking discipline action, discipline action. No, you don't name the players. They're, they're, they're, they're juveniles. Um, they play Lele Huah, by the way, coming up on Saturday. I would say, and I, and I, you know what? I'm going to save this for when we come back because I know we're, we're running late on this because, um, I fear that we have lost the momentum of the last year of trying to get some of this nonsense out of high school sports. Mm-hmm. That we're, you know, it was, it was something that was talked about a lot. Remember with the, uh, the situation in Moana, Luah, and it got, you know, statewide attention that all of a sudden something like this happens and all of a sudden, uh, nothing. I, I worry about that, but we'll, we'll talk about that coming up after this. All right. Uh, let's say we will, uh, check out your traffic coming up next.

And I wanted to, to finish my point on that. Mm-hmm. If you don't remember what happened last year surrounding, uh, Moana Luah and the assistant athletic director who was, um, you know, physically harassed after a, after a match, uh, how that went through the legal system and, um, you know, it led to, you know, this big condemnation of,

30:10you know, not just, uh, going after people who are involved in sports, you know, talking about referees and athletic administrators and everything, but just trying to get this garbage, in general, out of high school sports. My, my concern about this and how this is just kind of been somewhat quiet is that if it's kept that way, it negates all of the positive momentum that we've tried to take to get a lot of that stuff out of high school sports. And I think that that's, that's unfortunate because I think a lot of people want, I should say, a lot of people, I think we all want the same thing. We want high school sports to be a positive environment. We want it to be where we can shine our light on the players on the parents who sacrifice a lot for those players. The coaches to do a fantastic job. Everybody behind the scenes.

31:11But yet this detracts from that. And if nothing happens from it, it just basically says, it's okay. Exactly. You know, but it's not just in sports. Think about this. Think about the national stories about the violence in Hawaii. Um, you know, on Maui, the people that were, you know, all those people rushed all those tourists and on Maui and just, you know, beat them up for no reason. A racial thing. They said it was a, you know, that type of deal. You know, we're going to get those howlies, you know, that kind of stuff. Other things and wiki key and violence and stuff that shows up on the mainland. It's almost every month or two. There's something about violence in Hawaii. And now you have Hawaii's football, one of Hawaii's football teams, high school kids, go over to the mainland and start a fight with all the players running on the field trying to beat some heads. That doesn't make us look good at all. No, no. Um, this text from the, uh, from the 589, uh, I read a quote from the article that coach York tried to justify it as a, says

The other field's not going to be fixed or they just like it better. Ah, whatever it is. Whatever it is. They don't, I like it. I'm all for it. They don't give a reason here. It just says each of UH's next four home matches beginning with the October 7th contest against Nevada will begin at 3 p.m. The senior day match against New Mexico on November 1st will begin at 2 30 p.m. Um, admission free, although applicable parking fees will apply uh, this is okay. This is interesting. Well, it doesn't seem like that many games are left already. Yeah. I mean, you're they had, aren't they on like a in the middle of a three week break? I think it is that they go on the road and you're right, you're writing a conference play at that point. Hmm. Um, I, I can only speculate, but part of this conversation was that, um, they were going to

37:32reevaluate this going into conference play. They don't play a home match until October 7th. Their next matches on the road at Colorado College in September 24th. They have five home matches remaining. Right. They only have five left. Uh, they're coming off of a tie on Sunday and they have 10 matches total left. Wow. That's fast. Um, by the way, congrats. I'm not saying congratulations, but they played Washington state and it was a zero, zero tie on Sunday, not if sure, folks saw that, but congratulations on not losing, I guess, but I mean, so now, uh, overall, there are 503 wins, three losses and one tie. I don't know. I just saw Washington state. It sounds like kind of a name, brand team. Pack 12 and they didn't lose. So I, I was, I don't know, am I, I don't know, I kind of like that. No, it's good. I mean, they, they'll go into conference play with a 3 3 and one record. They're playing a lot better. Well, then, um, then they did it at the beginning of the year.

And I mean, so even if they didn't, they're going to play the last three games, you might as well just, you got five games left, right? Is that what we said? Yes. You got five games left. You might as well play it where you've been playing it. It tells me also that maybe, uh, it's been a good thing playing on campus as well. Yeah. Yeah. I just thought it's something. You know, if you have Shamanad and you have HPU, maybe you bring over Hilo and University of Hawaii, if you could somehow have a day where all of those teams play at Coppiel, Lenny Park,

40:40hmm, would that be cool? I don't know if it can you play soccer on Coppiel, Lenny Park in the college level? I don't know. Probably not. But wouldn't that be cool? If you, you just had a day of it, somebody played it 10, 12, two, four o'clock in the afternoon down at Coppiel, uh, Coppiel, Lenny Park. That would be really cool. Like it would be soccer fast. Yeah. Or, you know, at least, um, your exhibition have your, you know, the four Hawaii schools. Um, I think the only problem is do the Pac-West schools want to play against one another in exhibitions? Probably not. Why not? Uh, because you play against each other enough in the regular season. But I've, I've heard good things about just the atmosphere, you know, I haven't gone just because, you know, a lot of those matches are during the day and, uh, you know, we're doing this radio show

41:42during the day. So it's kind of hard. I don't know, doing all kinds of stuff. Yeah, that too. But I've heard, you know, atmosphere-wise, it's kind of good. I, I think I've talked to you. I mean, I've seen stuff on, um, social media and it looks like the atmosphere is great. Right. Um, I, I think you were here. If not, it was when Scott was filling in for you that they did a really good job, even though the place isn't complete, um, that, um, you know, those side walls in the back that you can see on the non-camera side that have, um, it looks like kind of, kind of, you know, stone walls as Hawaii on the side. I think they've been doing a nice job with that. I haven't seen it on TV. But do they do, um, uh, I don't know about this and I should, I guess. Do they do replace of games like they did on spectrum before? MW Plus. Oh, okay. But you know what? Um, I think, and I didn't get to watch it because I was, you know, watching storm coverage yesterday or Sunday, but I think K five was replaying one or two of the MW Plus matches. 42:43that's a student production, those MW Plus broadcasts. So how do the students sound good? No, it's, it's, it, they're not student announcers. Oh, they're just all the producers. Yeah. It's a camera directing. They're doing the cameras too. Yeah. Um, Scott, when did they get the camera? Uh, I don't know. The media, they have a media department. I know they're, they're building that up. Uh, Scott Rob's not a student was the, uh, student one. It's a long time. He is the, uh, the main voice on MW Plus for those broadcasts. And so what they do is, you know, it's, it's, it's a good opportunity. You have professionals and students alike kind of, you're, you're learning in a pretty nice environment. I will say that they use the mountain west graphics for those broadcasts. And I really, really like those mountain west graphics. Um, so you know, it's, it's kind of, it's, it's a good opportunity. Uh, you'll see a lot of that, I think, for baseball and softball, uh, later on in the year, because a lot of those will overrun with men's volleyball

43:45and, and basketball. So those sports will get a lot of, a lot of time on MW Plus. But congratulations to them. I mean, those were the first two, I think MW Plus broadcasts. So we did get a text. Somebody says the future games will eventually be there might as well start building the fan base that will be there, especially, uh, the students hopefully. Well, here's one problem with that. Mm hmm. Is that I don't think that place is usable next year because they're doing the next phase of building up the, the, the, the venue. You got to put in the stands and some of the infrastructure. So, right. But I'm just saying having the soccer games on campus. Yeah. Yeah. So, I guess you better have white peel ready in 2027 then. Why? Because if, oh, that's right. Because it's, I see what you're saying is that they're saying that's where the games are going to be. You're saying, no, the games are going back out to white peel. That's just to practice field. There are some news today regarding Michael Alihado. He did not practice. According to and I think I saw this from Rob Demello from KHLN to sports. He had this on on social where he had, I guess, kind of a wrap on his, wasn't around his calf. I think it was. Remember he had a cramp during the game. Remember? Right. It was a cramp. And it seemed like he was down a long time with with that cramp. Right. Give him some mustard. Remember? Yeah. Um, Timmy Chang saying today, so Bjorn Jorgensen took the majority of snaps with Alihado not participating in workout. Timmy Chang saying Alihado given day of rest and will be good to go Saturday versus New Mexico state. You could say if you're being negative, you could say, well, you got to

46:50get Jorgensen ready because the way that offensive line is playing, who knows if Micah's going to be healthy enough to finish the season. That's what a negative person would say. Okay. What a positive person say. Uh, go bows. Don't panic. I'm not there. There's a word that I actually wanted to use was a reevaluation. I think was the word that I was going to throw out. Huh? Because you said in the first hour, um, concern, it's okay to feel concerned. It's it's okay to feel concerned. Just because of what we saw, you know, you don't see Micah Alihado missing these short dinks. They weren't even passes. They were dinks. And there were many that were just, I mean, you would watch that and go, what did he bet on the under on this game or something? I mean, you know, obviously he didn't, but at the same time, that was concerning to see that makes you want to think, is he hurt? Yeah. Cause we've never seen that before. And I watched him after the game

47:52after they did the, the, the, the alma mater. And they were all going back to the tunnel, the other side. And he did have a little bit of a limp to him. I did notice. This was clearly not his best game. In fact, I'd say it was probably one of his two worst, maybe three worst games he's played. But if you've had a bad cramp, I could see limping back, you know, not really healed. Yeah. Um, I, it just was from, from the get go. It kind of feels like, and I don't know how you feel watching it. I get the feeling watching Stanford and you and LV, they both have an idea and scouted pretty well Hawaii's offense. It looked to me the way Stanford was kind of, they were around the edges and they were batting down passes when Hawaii was trying to get out to the flats. You know, for some of the short, not even intermediary stuff, that Micah Ali Hato who does like to get out of the pocket and does like to run. He did get out of the pocket,

48:57but he didn't have a lot of, he escaped out of the pocket. Yeah. Um, they, I think had a good idea of what that offense looks like without a top taker in Pofeli Ashlock that it seemed, it feels like that offense is, you know what? It almost gets one, sorry, it gets almost one dimension. Yes. They did Hawaii even, they can't stretch the ball down the field. Not at all. So you know, they're going to, they're going to keep that ball, you know, around the, you know, up in the, you know, five, six, seven yards out. I mean, there was one deep ball, and that was, if I recall correctly, I think it was one, and that was the one that was dropped back middle of the end zone. Okay. So that one, I don't remember how deep that was because I don't, and I remember why it wasn't like a shagor bomb, but it was right for what the offense has been recently. Right. So it was 20 yards down the field or something like that. If it's over 20 yards, I consider it a

50:00deep ball. But, um, you know, that's one thing is, it's, it's kind of easy to defend against. I mean, we're trying to get rid of the ball quickly, which he still does most of the time. He has to throw the ball away. But, um, you know, I don't know if we can get that. I mean, we did try the shovel pass once. I saw that. And you know what? Am I the only one that saw that that was passing her appearance before the ball got there? The guy, the guy tackled him. He tackled him and threw him to the ground. And it's like the referees thought that that was a run and not a pass. I can see a level pass is a pass. Before the ball arrived, he was, the guy had his hands all over him. And nobody caught that was the guy, um, kind of declaring himself as like a blocker. No, you don't have to do that. You're running back because you're, because you're right near the line of scrimmage. Right. Well, I mean, he was in the back field and then he ran up like he was going to block turned around and then got mobbed. And then the ball got, you know, thrown away.

51:04It was passing a series coming from with that. I was the only one that saw it. You clearly heard of it. I am now the football guru. Please text in, ask me questions. You lose to an FCS school for the second time in like four years losing to Idaho State. Wow. Good on you, Utah State. Well, there weren't supposed to be in the pack 12, but nobody else wanted to go. So they'll take Utah State. They got a good basketball team. Yeah, why not? Let's go through our top fives. I will start with five. And we'll

58:36work our way up toward number one, because I don't know that there's there is not going to be any consensus at least on number one or number two, just given the fact that it's still a little it's still a little incomplete. My my number five in the mountain west, I think right now, I am I'm going to give to New Mexico. Number five. I'm going to I'm going to wait on New Mexico just because you know, the quarterback. I'm not going to get carried away on one game with quarterbacks. They won 38 to seven over central Michigan. They played two different quarterbacks. They weren't necessarily all that great. They were favored over central Michigan and they did what they had to do. Central Michigan was awful. Absolutely awful. So until I see something that's a little more concrete on New Mexico, I've got them on the outside. I've got them at number five. All right, you want my number five? I would love your number five. Because of the way they played

59:40and got worse from game one to game two. Okay. I have University of Hawaii at number five right now. Now that could change. Okay. It could change next week. As soon as next week, if they come out and show us what we think that they can do, but based off of the last performance, I've got University of Hawaii at number five, middle of the pack. Okay. My number four, I'm going to put Hawaii there. I still have them kind of that tear just because it's so incomplete. There is a lot of ability that Hawaii can be better than this. I don't know if the New Mexico state game is going to be like the cure to it because New Mexico state's not bad. They're not horrible. They're not like they used to be say 10 years ago. Absolutely. I know you and I, they weren't everybody's homecoming opponent. Right. I know you and I joked about Tony Sanchez. He wasn't at UNLV for long, but he did coach there has coached against Hawaii. I'm kind of interested in not very successfully.

1:00:42Yeah, you're absolutely right. But there is a little bit of familiarity. It's not Hawaii does not have anything easy on its schedule and that's the other thing that I think we have to remind ourselves of with you age. The schedule is front loaded and I'm going to put New Mexico state there. Wyoming is not an easy team to beat in Wyoming. Hawaii's schedule does not get easy until mid-October. And so until Hawaii shows me something that it's like, okay, you know, we can stand out. They're four right now. Okay, the way that Hawaii is is playing. I don't think any game is easy for the University of Hawaii. They will improve. I have faith that they're going to improve, but if you ask me today, there's no easy game. There's no automatic win. All right, my number four team, because I've seen a little bit of them play already this year is San Jose State. Luke Weaver has looked good. And you know what? Looks like they're much improved over last year.

1:01:46And part of that is the quarterback position. Part of the reason Hawaii is also number five for me. Sorry, going back just for a second. Yeah. Is the injuries? Is no pfele Ashlock in Can Barfield? And you know, some other stuff, some other guys who have been out. So anyway, San Jose State, I have it number four. I have questions by the way about the Holy injury thing. Can Barfield, we knew got hurt the week prior, wasn't on the injury list the day before, two days before, and then all of a sudden Saturday, he's listed as out. I have some questions. San Jose State's my number three. And Luke Weaver right now is looking like the second best court. Well, I honestly know he's not looking like the second best. He's looking like the best quarterback in the mountain west right now. I'd rather you know what? You asked me about him or Jackson Arnold. You're, you know, you got to pick. I take Luke Weaver. Yeah. Weaver's been better in two games. Arnold was he can sling it. You're absolutely right. Arnold was even in the win. He was okay.

1:02:48I think yeah, I wasn't that impressed. Yeah. The big thing with Arnold is that he could, he could bowl over guys running the football out of the pocket. And you know, that did lead to a touchdown. That is probably one of his greater strengths in my opinion. Um, but consistently, I've got Weaver playing better than him right now. And I mean, he's, if he keeps that up though, he's bound to get hurt. Yep. He's got a slide. I mean, it's one thing to go, you know, listen to the announces. Go ahead. And he continues to just whatever, you know, making like that was, uh, that was a good thing. And I'm sure that I don't know if you're the coach, you're not, you should not be treating that as a good thing that your quarterback won't slide. Yes. Uh, San Jose State is, uh, I, I think there are a team that provides the greatest opportunity for growth, but they could also be one of those teams that after two games, it's like smoking mirrors. And we won't know a ton because they play Cal Poly this weekend.

1:03:50And then they've got Fresno State after that before they play, uh, before a by-week and then, a game at UH. But right now, that's my, my number three. All right. Number three. And it could be smoking mirrors for the, might be, I've got North Dakota State. Now they have looked impressive. They played two games and given up seven points scored 71 points. But that was against Jacksonville State and Fordham. And for folks who say, Hey, Jacksonville State, a pretty good football program. No, they're not. Stop. But, uh, they've got air force. They've got Air Force next. I'm not looking. They've got Air Force next. And we'll see how they do against now, um, a more established division one football program in Air Force. So we'll see. Um, they have a win over central Michigan. You see the little, uh, unsure

1:07:01about central Michigan. No, I just, you know, 38 to seven. I mean, they've only played once. So we don't have that much to go on. But based off of playing good defense, who they have returning and that one game at home, um, they do have mercy, herst coming up. So we're not going to know how good they are after that either. And we know mercy hurts because they played New Mexico state. Yeah. So they have mercy, hers next. And that's followed by Oklahoma. So we'll see. But at, uh, as we are right now, I'm going to go with New Mexico number one, mostly by default. Okay. North Dakota states my number one number one. Yeah. I haven't number one. Um, yeah. Have they played anybody? No. Okay. They, they've outscored the two opponents that are on their schedule. 71 to seven. Correct. This is a little bit difficult for them to put together a schedule because you've got schedules made way in advance. Then you got to cancel games because you're going to

1:08:02get FBS. You lose some of those body bag games. The thing about what they've done is it's just consistent. Like North Dakota state, they are who they are. And they're, they're not going to shy away from it. And they're doing exactly what they do. No frills, no gimmicks, no, we're shock in the world. What are you going to do? They're going to run the football on you. They had two rushing touchdowns against Fordham. Nathan Hayes isn't going to wow you at quarterback, but you know what he did? He didn't give away the football 18 to 2210 yards to touchdowns. And he didn't have to play the entire game. I'm solid. Um, again, yeah, you're playing Fordham. Who I look at playing for them? You're right. Yeah. Um, you know, Fordham was held to less than 150 yards of offense. So, you know, I give credit there to to North Dakota state there. And then when you look at Jacksonville state, um, North Dakota state actually outscored them toward the end. I mean,

1:09:07they spotted on the seven, uh, or they scored a seven and then it was tied and then after that, I think they outscored them like 26 to zip. But what did they do against Jacksonville state? They ran the football over 200 yards. Nathan Hayes may have thrown the football away, but he was fairly steady. Jacksonville state had 170 yards of offense. Not great. They did nothing well offensively. Uh, North Dakota state just did North Dakota state things. And if you're consistent, then that will carry you through. They've got Air Force. And that is the first real opportunity where we will see. And this is our Air Force. Right. But here's the thing we talk about, um, you know, playing at altitude and granted, North Dakota state plays inside the Fargo dome. But it's not like they're, um, they're playing games in like Nebraska or anything. I think North Dakota state probably knows a little about altitude. I don't think it's going to be as big of a deal. Air Force has started out okay. I mean, they beat a no name in Duquesne last week.

1:10:10Duquesne, please pronounce things correctly. Air Force with a win could move into the top five. Maybe, you know, maybe they haven't made a believer out of me, even though they've made a believer out of other people. But North Dakota state, if they can win at Air Force can really solidify that number one spot in my power rankings. So yeah, North Dakota state. It's early. It doesn't mean the mountain west is great right now. But, uh, after week zero and week one, they've been the most consistent. Yeah. That's one thing that you bring that up. That's one thing I'd like to see is better play out of all mountain west football teams because we have not looked that great so far as a league mountain west connection has, uh, has their top five. You're not going to get them to change it, but you're letting your football team, your student body, your alumni that hey, you know what? We are out here fighting for you guys. That's all it could be. Let's set this up for those that know, no, Western Michigan playing Michigan Michigan going for a Hail Mary and looked like the pass was incomplete, would go out of the back of the end zone. It went to replay to review to determine whether there was time on the clock. And if you were watching NBC and you see the timer in the corner of the screen, you would think, oh, yeah, there's no time on the clock. This game's over. Western Michigan's pulled the upset. And then they come out to replay review and they find out, oh, there's one second twitch. It's like I can see the clock.

1:15:25It's on my TV. The ball hasn't been touched yet. Where did the second come from? So they put a second on the clock that Michigan throws the Hail Mary, which is caught and wins the game. By the way, really sad field storming. If you're storming the field to beat Western Michigan, shame on you. It's talked about Michigan says, no, the clock that's on the replay review is the one that they go by. It's not the one that's on television. You know, the Mac comes or Western Michigan, the Mac comes out and say, hey, we agree with the big 10s findings. Thank you for the cooperation, all that. Today, Western Michigan wanted to go to the football's governance board pretty much and say, you know, actually, the clock that you're supposed to look at in replay is not the clock on the replay review. It's the clock on the field or the clock that's on TV.

1:16:27And so they said they did the replay review wrong. And because of that, they should overturn the result and make Western Michigan the winner. And the NCAA, this is the oversight committee. The NCAA comes back and says, yeah, we don't do that. Yeah. And they say that the game, whether you agree with it or not, I'm paraphrasing, when the head referee says the game is over on the field, the game is over on the field. And even if they're right or wrong, that's what they go by. So you at least are telling your fan base, we're going to fight few folks till the end. We're going to fight few football team. We got your back. It doesn't matter. You're not going to get it. But at the same time, they're just letting everyone know they should have won that game. It might help recruiting. It might be a number of things. But Michigan, you know what? You guys got away with one. Yes, they did. Kyle Wittingham. Boy, that would have been a disaster. Oh, yeah. Yeah. This is a league game. There are two ACC schools playing in week one. They agreed to play a game with no scoreboard. So you know, the time is kept on the field. No scoreboard, no play clock, no coach to player communications. Wow. You don't have the iPads that are kind of new now. So you can't do some of those adjustments on the fly. The only communications, I think like coach to coordinator. That was it. And then there was no replay review. So you didn't have all of those things. SM use coach. Totally old school. Wow. And then all the leagues said, yeah, he's like, no, that's not, that's not going to happen.

1:21:50But LSU stayed with it. I don't know if you heard Lane Kiffin at halftime just leaning into the bit. It's like, if only we use something Hollywood, if only we had pro players, you mean he was on the field? Yeah, on the field talking to Hollywood on TV. What do you say? Basically, if only we had pro players, something, wow, you're thinking about the wrong thing at halftime in a game. Well, maybe because they're blowing them out. Yeah. Apparently, he's also no wonder people don't like it. Yeah. Apparently, I didn't see this earlier. There's a halftime speech of Lane Kiffin in the locker room when they were up 31 to three. So that was well, you don't have any pro players. They didn't make the pros. They weren't good enough. Well, they weren't on the roster. So right. Okay. So flash forward to today. The SEC and you do have pro players. They're all getting paid. That's that's right. So the SEC was doing something where they were meeting with their membered schools. And part of what they were doing was to see a guess worst case scenario is can you kick out SEC, kick out LSU from the SEC? Right. So they could potentially had a vote today. Where they said, Hey, you know what? You guys want at, you know, these guys are going to have pro players. All of us don't want it. So you want to kick them out of the league. Let's take a vote. Yeah. That's what they could have done today. Yeah. Um, so we find that out this morning.

1:26:06And of course it gets lots of reaction, including this one from Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry on the SEC threatening to expel us. Yeah, bleeps. No, actually. I've never said that many bleeps in a one minute fight before ridiculous. Can we just play football? Close quote. So that's my football with us having to advantage by signing pro players. What's the big deal? So what the SEC was doing, they were trying to do a TRO on LSU. And if the TRO went through, then that would lead to the expulsion vote. So the TRO will be heard tomorrow. So we haven't gotten to tomorrow yet. And within the last hour or so, LSU has locked in its roster for the season. And guess who's not on the roster? The two guys who were given clearance to play college football last Thursday by a judge, De Kwan Wright and Xavier Harris. So they were

Ask Kylie. She doesn't go on vacation. She's never been on a vacation in her life. She's only been on PTO. Gosh. If it's not PTO, it's personal development. Yeah. Yeah. It just kind of seemed like they were out of it from what you know.

1:41:01Just what I've been told. Okay. What I've been told by a number of people that the fans just lost interest. And you know, you got a fourth quarter. Come back. They weren't into it. It's hard when there's, there's nothing that happens on the field. I mean, there are few, there are a few plays that took place that you consider big plays, but not enough. No, and I don't consider any of those big plays, but the situation where the other team takes the crowd out of it, right? The visiting team plays so good they take the crowd out of it. This wasn't the case. The home team ticked their own crowd out of it. Yeah. And you could tell that, you know, fans are fed up. We're, you know, our broadcast booth is literally right behind the fans. It's not like in some places where the fans are way below you or they're above you and you don't really get to see all that much of them. Literally people in the rows in front of us are there basically. They're three feet in front of you. Yeah, they're getting up and leaving. And then you look around and you see others leaving. And this is when they scored that touchdown. I think with four

1:42:01some odd minutes left. Well, we didn't score it touched down when you and LV did. Oh, they scored with four minutes left and went. Yeah, that's okay. The the air has been deflated. Yeah, unfortunate, unfortunate because we were really looking forward to this game. If Hawaii won this game against UNLV, the team that is supposed to be, you know, the class of the Mountain West Conference, if we won this game at home where we usually beat UNLV, although we haven't beaten like fourth time now in a row of lost home. But I mean, this would have been huge if Hawaii won. Instead, it was exactly the opposite. It was just going o and two to start the season that hurt. Yeah. Were a lot of people I think wanted to give Hawaii the the benefit of the doubt against Stanford. And where I think quite a few people were willing to give Hawaii the benefit of the doubt against UNLV, even though it was going to be Hawaii's toughest home game of the season. And I think I think there are many people that thought Hawaii would have at least one win out of these two games.

1:43:06Well, you're hoping for you're hoping for it. Becoming off of last season that, hey, you know what, Stanford on the road is going to be tough, but winnable. UNLV at home tough, but winnable. And we just looked horrible and we looked horrible against UNLV at home. It's not supposed to work out that way. Yeah. Well, I also wonder what the status of Lester Lungafuina is. Yeah. And we again, yeah, we've got a lot of guys, a key players who are out. But I mean, we've got to find a field goal kicker who can make a field goal. Yeah. It's, you know, it's, it's ridiculous at this point. One person said on our text line, at least the, the punting was better. Yeah. It was. But we've had a lot of practice. I guess that's what happens when you have a new punter that comes into the program. And I guess there's a little bit of competition. And they weren't going for the rugby thing. They went for more of the traditional punts, which are a little safer, I guess. That's why you might say the punting is better. But you know what? If we can't make field goals from 30 yards out, we're in a lot of trouble. Mm hmm. All right. We are on to New Mexico States. We're also on
