Our story begins in the Spring of 1917. Half a mile to the south of Fatima, along a road so narrow that a team of oxen can scarcely pass, lies the village of Aljustrel where three young shepherds lived: Lucia dos Santos, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. They were 10, 9, and 7 years old respectively at the time of the apparitions.
