Boys and girls, we made it. We made it to game day. It has been 248 days since Texas into the 2025 season. It has been a long, arduous off season, but we made it to today. It's Texas. It's Texas state. The 2026 season opener. Get your horns up because it is time for the on Texas football tailgate show brought to you by Pricebricks. I'm Jeff Houtjoin by Bobby Burton and Jerry Hamilton at OTF headquarters. Not too far from DKR where the long horns will play today. Bobby, I'll start with you. General thoughts. We made it. We got here today. It's a tie. You know, you see that little Raleigh Brown touchdown dance in the end zone. That's what I feel like today. I feel like doing a little bit of this. That's me on game day. This game of the 2026 season. Texas taking on Texas state. Jeff being around campus here, just one block off right behind the co up.
It is a phenomenal feeling to be around at university campus at the start of football season. We've already seen some cheerleaders walk by. We've seen the fraternity and sorority people like by we've seen everybody come and go between here and the university and it is truly game day. Watching you starting to fill up to by the way, so make sure you get your park in spot wherever you're going to park. But it's a big game coming up here. If only because it is game one granted this, they're not playing Ohio State today. They're not playing, you know, LSU or A&M or anybody like that. But it is the first game of the year and I mentioned this yesterday on the live stream over at the co up that I felt like Jeff that it's the day that you get to open your presence. You know, Cooch Sark says that about the first day of spring practice. Whenever he gets all these guys coming in from the portal and from the high school ranks,
well as fans, you don't really get to see that as much. But today, the first time Raheem Biles makes a big play, you're going to go, oh, that's different. Cam Coleman makes a, you know, sweeping catch or where to relieve brown or Hollywood Smothers does something or even a freshman like your main bishop. Everybody's getting to unwrap the presence of what we've been talking about here for going on nine months now. So yeah, very excited about today. Very excited about this 2026 version of the Texas Longhorns. Jerry, we've had a chance to watch a few college games, not just zero week but starting on Thursday last night. The more these openers I watch, Jerry, the more I realize, man, maybe just come out of this healthy and a clean operation as clean as possible as the kind of game I'm looking for today. Yeah, for sure. I mean, look, anybody caught Miami last night. They lost their best corner of the year series. Their best corner on the team for the first series. I'm not saying for the year, but Frederic went out on the first series was dragging his
shoulder, walking the decide lines, did not return in that game. So you want to win, you want to execute, you want to get out healthy is what you want to do. And to reiterate Bobby's point, I mean, I'm happy for the Texas fans. This is a home game. I mean, Miami fans had to sit and watch their team from the couch last night, first game of the season. They weren't going to have many fans at Miami anyways. No, probably not. Probably, but maybe, probably not, but maybe, but they said they had to sit and watch on the couch or from Lincoln road or wherever they were last night. They didn't actually get to see their new quarterback in person on the first game of the year. So when you turn over half your roster, I think it's great for the home, for the Texas fans to get to watch those guys in person first game of the year if they go to the game. That's a lot different than watching a team play at Stanford in your first game of the year. Yeah, Darrym, it's a look good last night. Don't, don't do start there. Need to do it. Lincoln Riley to last night. I have you run the ball while you're up 30, the third quarter and risk of shoulder
injury. So I haven't heard anything on him today, but hopefully for USC sick, he's all right. All right. We'll get the text in Texas state here in just a second. Want to run down our programming here on the channel today because it's a lot. We're busy. We're doing the tailgate show right now. Saturday conversation is already on the channel at 2 30 right when the game starts. Watch with us. Some guys will be in the OTF compound and hoping to be hosting that. There will be a part of the coach shipley, Rod Babor. So make sure you turn into that immediately following the game is the OTF post game show. That'll be Bobby, Rod Babor and Brian Robinson. As always, the chat is lively. When lose or draw, we expect it to be live today with the opener. And then later tonight after everything settles, I'll be joining CJ Vogel and Hank South will have a report from our boots on the ground inside DKR. What they saw, what they observed a little from the field. And then a loaded slate of programming tomorrow. Here's something else that we're trying this year and Silver Spurs sick OSC you the chat. So everybody please be kind.
Voice mails we are taking your voice mails. We have a phone line that is open all day every day. 512 766 8491 is the phone number before during after the game. Give us a call. Leave us a voicemail with your thoughts. Producer Matt will call through those and we will run those on Sunday. Actually anytime we're on, we can talk about them. So again, 512 766 8491 is the phone number for that. All right, let's go ahead and get to Texas. Jeff Hold on. Hey, Jeff, I want to say anybody's welcome a and M fans. If you want to come in here and talk about RC statue for guy that once had zero top five finishes and 14 seasons was three and eight in bowl games. Oh and four in the cotton bowl, Oh and five and new year six bowl games. Seven and seven against his rival and got fired after 14 years. Y'all come in here and talk about that statue you built for your coach because that was really well deserved. Oh, park probably. Wow. Listen to that. Reson may I just spin out for spin out three top 10 seasons and 14 got fired build a statue
baby. You get a statue for being seven and seven against your arch rival. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Hey, I'll I'll we're a season away from having Mike Elko. I'm a field. All allow the RC statue RC did convince help convince rod favors to go to Texas. So if it wasn't for RC, we wouldn't have gotten a rod to be in Texas. So I'll be grateful to RC for that. All right. Guys, we have our predictions for this game. Our staff predictions now Texas state. This is a one of the better group of six offenses in the country. I got to respect the opponent. You are playing somebody with a pulse. But at the end of the day, I think all of us. It's a consensus with the staff and our contributors. We expect the long horns to roll Bobby aside from the obvious. What are you looking for today? I think you hit on it at the very outset of this game, Jeff. I are outside of this broadcast. Excuse me. Efficiency and clean clean play. I think that that's what I want to see as much as anything.
And clean play is is a multiple thing. It's timing on offense. Yeah. It's no big misdysseiments on defense. And it's connecting on turnovers and not giving any away. That's what clean play looks like to me. Scoring and making the most of your opportunities in the red zone in particular. Those are the things I'm looking for. It's not so much, you know, is Cam Kolbingen a make five acrobatic catches? Is really brown going to break one for 80? No. I want to see if they can just play the game of football clean, efficient, with some explosiveness here and there. But that that's what you frankly that's what I saw out of Miami yesterday against Stanford. That's what I saw a lot of for SC against Fresno State last night. I mean, so that's kind of what you're looking for right now in in this game.
I went into I talked yesterday about I want to see Texas rushed the ball for 200 yards. Dislodge defenders moved the line of scrimmage. Then I watched Stanford in Miami last night and Stanford was saying, we're going to put the extra guy in the box. We don't care if he thought for 400 yards. Essentially, we're going to take our chances here, but we're not going to allow you to run the ball. We want you to make pass calls because we're going to have a have a box, not a light box. So I want Texas to rush for 200 yards if those opportunities are there. But I don't want to be hard headed about it either after watching Stanford in Miami last night. You know, look, you want to run the ball well. I think Sark wants to and will must champ the one thing I think they would love to establish in this game out of the gate is physicality. Much more physical team than Texas state on the field. You also can't do bang your head against the wall doing it on offense. So if Texas, I'm very interested to see how Texas how many people Texas state those in the box to take away the run and say, all right, Arch.
Let's see if you have improved in that short passing game in that intermediate passing game. And we'll do our best to keep you from making big plays down the field. I will be interested to see if Texas state plays Texas the same way Stanford did defensively against Miami last night and just say, we're going to we're going to put the extra man in the box. We're not going to let you run the ball up and down the field against us. What about you, Jeff? I curious to see what you're really kind of digging in on today. I think Jerry as far as the Texas offense, Jerry hit the nail on the head for me. I would love to see Texas run the ball control the line of scrimmage, but in Texas states breaking in a new defensive coordinator. And to a certain extent, you've got to kind of do what you do and get a feel for it because they've got a conference schedule left the play. I will wind them who was the defensive coordinator for a major apple white last year of South Alabama. Wants to be in a multiple front. They want to be really active. They want to stem their front, give the offense multiple looks, but they want to play simplistic coverage is behind it. So to Jerry's point, it could be a mess for the offensive line, but the condition,
the conditions could be right for archmaning the throw for 350 yards today. So if it's not there, don't get yourself in third and 10, third and 11, third and nine. Just because you want to try to establish a physical identity, if it's not there. So, but I think as far as the cleanliness, Bobby, what I want to see for the offense is, you know, watch some of Oklahoma U-TEP last night. No, you did have a couple of clunky red zone possessions. That's the kind of stuff I don't want to see from Texas day. I want to see execution on third down. If you get it in the red zone or you get it on a short field, don't settle for a field. Go go put it in the end zone. So when you've got opportunities to maximize your possessions, either by moving the chains or putting it in the end zone, that's what I want to say. I want to see really good execution and situational football because next week, you're going to be facing one of those opponents, Bobby, that the last couple of times you face them, you haven't been really good offensively executing situational football. I watched a little bit of the OU game. The tight ends at OU look pretty good. That is a categorical difference.
John Mateer is looks healthy. Yeah. I'm not sure he's appreciably better from a year ago at this point. That's right. It's not take one OU. All right, we'll get back to it here in just a second. We got some super chats. Hey, if you've got questions, comments, get them lined up, super chats jumped to the front of line. We'll get to those here in just a second. Right now, we need to thank a couple of our sponsors here at OnSexes football, including our lead sponsor for the tailgate show. And that is prize picks. Thank you to our friends over at Shields. By the way, next Saturday, Jerry will be at Shields for this very show, doing a pregame over at Shields. That'll be a lot of Shields. I'm looking forward to that. Yeah. Matt producer Matt and I went over there and Jerry, when we say it's enormous, they have a whole bottom level that nobody can see. And it is just like, I don't know, it's 150,000 square feet of just. I'll find me at Papa Shot. I'll be at Papa Shot. You won. Football is finally back.

As Bobby said, we're here to be out and about doing some different things. So make sure you're locked into the channel and over on TexasFullBot.com and on our social, our solar social platforms to see what we got going on. Rocky Peak, thank you for the super chats of Bull Prediction. Texas has two 100 yard rushers and two 100 yard receivers. Defense has five and a half sacks. I want to focus on the first part of this though, Jerry, when we look at the left tackle for Texas Day,
now this isn't a conference game so we don't get the official injury report like we would for an SEC game. Sark says Trevor Goosby is good to go. Sark also said you will see Andre Kojo at some point today. Jerry, what's the risk reward of playing Trevor Goosby today or just making sure he's 100% no doubt ready to go for Ohio State and beyond? I think if Bobby and Jeff, I think if Texas had, has it their way there, like to get him a couple series just to get his feet wet to start the season. I'm talking about Goosby and not risk it after that. Just get him a series. I'm of the belief that's a game time decision. I'm of the belief that it depends on how the warm up goes. They'll test him in the warm up and see where that goes. Look, he practiced last week, obviously, and that's a Sark put out that news. That Monday practice, he didn't do much at all. We're nothing. He was out there, but he didn't do much. Tuesday a little bit more. They've kind of led him up to the point
where I think they're gonna make this a game time decision. And if he looks good in the warm ups, maybe you get him a series or two, Bob. And Laurence Seymour, I think, will be interesting as well, where he's gonna be at in this game. How much they will play him today. I think you'd like to get his feet wet in the Texas uniform a little bit, but I'm not sure Jeff in the chat, they're gonna play these guys much if they don't ask it. I wrote an article this morning for on Texas football, kind of game day. And I had a couple game day notes. One of them was about the use of Trevor Goosby and Laurence Seymour today. I'll tell you what I predicted in this game, Jeff. I went zero to 10 snaps for Trevor Goosby. Get his feet wet, but nothing more. Still recovering a little bit from that bone bruise. So that's part one, zero to 10. As far as Laurence Seymour, it's a little bit different. I went 10 snaps to 40. Like I don't see him playing a whole game. Right. I do see him getting in at least two full series.
If not more, I mean, he could end up being 70 plays for him. I don't want to maybe put a ceiling on it, but I do think they're gonna be cautious. And the idea behind this is two full one, they want to keep them healthy for the long term of an SEC nine game schedule. But also, I think it leans on something that we've talked all off season, and that's the depth of the offensive line. It's significantly better than a year ago. You have Cole Hudson right now sitting on the bench. He's a guy that started last year for every game he wasn't injured, either at center or guard. You have Jordan Coleman that we think is a really good backup. We have a guy named Jane Chapman that's healthier this year. There are a lot of pieces. Jackson Christian is coming. There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that I think Texas has to move within it. My take on it though is this. I see them using them sparingly a little bit today,
both Goosby and Seymour. Goosby more so than Seymour. I think that him asking him to do more than 10 to 15 snaps may not be what's best in the long term. Bobby, we saw him yesterday at the ribbon cutting ceremony. Still a slight lump. Yeah. I mean, there's not 100% recovered situation right here, just to be real. So anybody expecting Trevor Goos to be 100% today, that's not the case or play 100. That's not the case. Not going to happen. All right, Rocky P. Thank you for the super chat. We'll get to the deep Texas defense here in just a minute. But Bobby, you said something that I think goes with Justin super chat. Justin Yarbrough, thank you as always for the super chat. Said, hoping this is a good, clean, healthy game. It's time for the past to pop and go make a play. I want to see the young guys take advantage of this game. Great stuff fellas. It's go time. It is go time. And Jerry, that's one of the reasons why I kept my score prediction pretty low, because this could be a game where if the game is in hand or Sark feels it's in hand by a half time or early third quarter, I know sharpening your depth is something
he's really big on in these early season games and wants to play a lot of guys. They could just get the starters out of there. So you always point on the Goosby conversation. They could just get those guys out of there as soon as they can and just start letting some of those more inexperienced guys play. Yeah, I mean, look, I think that's the, I've said before, this is the biggest, one of the biggest tasks for Steve Sarkiesian this year. There's no, you tap in Sam Houston on this schedule. Or Santa's a or Santa's a, I mean, Texas State legitimate G5 team, UTSA, legitimate G5 team game status is a win, but it may take them a while to establish that. Maybe not. We'll see today, but Sark is, it's always been easy for these coaches to get the young guys reps in two or three games in season. Not this year for Steve Sarkiesian. I mean, these are more legit G5 teams. They're playing. So that's a real balancing act because you still have to keep your young guys healthy and engaged. You know, you got to keep them excited about the season. And you want to get some of those guys on the field. Look, I mean, you want to get my run Charles and Josiah Sharmer on the field today.
Terrey Davis. Terrey Davis. We're beyond the Derek Cooper Richard Wesley Bishop. Those guys are part of game plans at this point. But you want to get some of those younger guys and some of those guys who haven't played in Texas uniforms, whether that was a red shirt with red shirts or gone now. Whether that was a red shirt situation, maybe somebody who was injured last year, Jonah Williams. You probably want to get him a pretty good amount of snaps today. Rocky Cummings and Josiah. Yeah. But so it's a balancing act for Sark. And that's why I kind of everybody's talking about, hey, you're going to, you know, the line to this game. It's 29 and a half. I'm like, the line's going to depend on how Sark wants the game to go in reality. After they establish, and I think that'll be established as the game goes on, moves along. But man, it's tough for coaches nowadays in these nine game SEC schedules. If you play a really good P4 opponent in the noncon, that's 10 games that you really can't plan on getting all your debt, some snaps and your young kids, some snaps. And remember, there's no red shirt here anymore.
So you can get anybody's snaps you want. And it Texas doesn't on paper have games like that. So it's going to be, I think, a big thing for this game, guys, and you to say it'll be getting off to a quick start. So maybe Sark can establish the possibility of getting those guys a few more snaps in the second half, fourth quarter games. Hey Jeff. Aaron Hogan just showed up to say hello. He's going to be heading up the watch with us a little bit later. So we've got him. How you doing Aaron? Good. Good. Look, Jerry, when you talk about all of that and the hoping that they get a chance, is it really going to be a name your score game though? See, I don't think it will be either. I think this is a competitive. Texas State has a competitive offense. I don't know. We don't know if they have a competitive defense. Right. Right. That it, but I do think they'll have a competitive offense. Yeah, I mean, the whole key for the whole key that you'll have to play out in this game, again, is like, it's kind of like a last night when you watch Stanford.
Stanford's a better team than Texas State, but the Texas State feel like they have to load the box to stop the run. Then you're going to give up explosives. It's going to happen because you're out man at the wider receiver versus your DB position or your linebacker. I mean, Stanford and a linebacker covering Malachi Tony on a slot out of the slot last night in Iran right behind the score. Right. It's the same scenario today. So it's really Texas State has that decision to make. We just say, yo, we're going to try to take away the run no matter what and if archits and passes they do. But that's why I don't think this is, it's not a name your score game, because Brad Jackson's a really good player. G.J. Kenny is a really good coach. And the big key, the other key is outside of what Texas State decides to do defensively in this game. How long does Texas State's big and their big offensive line hold up in this game? It is, I know they practice in San Marcus. I know it's been hot, but that's totally different than 145 degrees on this field going against Texas defensive
players. How long does that offensive line hold up? I think we'll also tell the story. And out this game goes in the first and second quarters. All right. If you're in the chat, go ahead and give us your score prediction for today. Whatever it is, go ahead and get it. We'll get it on the screen. And we'll talk about it before we get done. Guys, as we wrap up one longhorn that I am watching today, and I did a couple matchup, kind of what to watch pieces this week over on Texas football.com. My primary matchup is Brad Jackson, I guess, Justin Crier. If you're looking for path of least resistance against the Texas defense, it's not going to be running with Colin Simmons. You want to deal with Raheem Biles as little as possible. See if Juice Crier can make plays in space. I got a feeling they're going to target him. So it's a really, really big day for Juice Crier for me. Bobby, give me one longhorn that you're watching today on either side of the ball. Who do you have your eye on? This is actually in that article this morning, I wrote Justin Crier and coverage would be one to watch today. So that's exactly what you're pointing out, Jeff, right?
But on top of that, the guy to watch, I'm told, had a tremendous week of practice and could be getting ready to have a great game as Derek Cooper. It's going to put Derek Cooper's name on it. I do think, for Leak Brown and Hollywood Smothers get the lion's share of reps, but give me, at this point, give me Derek Cooper on it. Bobby, to that point though, how many touches do they really want Hollywood Smothers and Brown to have in this game? I think seven to 12 each. Yeah, this is not the game you're going to put the ball in their hands a lot. I mean, it's just not. That's next week. I'll tell you mine. Nobody will be surprised at mine. I mean, I've seen where Rishi and Biles does the G5 teams and bowl games. OK, and now you have Will Must Champ Unleashing Rishi Raheem Biles at Texas. I'll just go in through Raheem Biles out there, probably causing a turn over today. Probably has a sack. Probably has a couple of tackles for loss.
He's going to be on full tilt because Must Champs already on. Must Champ woke up on full tilt. So his defense is going to be on full tilt. And I've seen Raheem Biles play against G5s. And that's really bad for G5s. I got to say this. This is funny to me. You're talking about Will Must Champ. And we were talking about Bob Shipley and guys like that yesterday about what you're, what do you do before a game? Like what you're, do you think Will Must Champ sleeps? Or do you think he just wakes up? No. Elevates out of bed and jumps. What do you think? X, X salad sandwich with nails in it. That's what he does. No chance he's sleeping. By the way, guys, the undersart Texas is 12 and 0 against non-power conference opponents. They won those 12 games by a combined score of 536 to 95. The only time they've given up 20 or more points was to Jeff Trailer's UTS-AT with 2022. But that was not a full-string Texas team. That was the week after Texas played Alabama
at home in a really physical game. So just something to consider with scored predictions today. Everybody loves the long horns winning big. Our staff predictions, we got Texas winning big. And we are a few hours away from seeing how it all plays out. All right, before we're done, one more time. Here's our programming today on the channel. Whatever your festivities may be, if you're going out to the stadium, if you're going to grill in the backyard or just enjoy it on your couch, just enjoy this. Everybody's waited a long time for it. Be observant. I think would be a good call because I think that this Texas team's going to have a lot of pieces that are new, right? And so you're going to want to watch those. But enjoy the game, man. It's good weather outside. It's going to be in the high 90s at game time. So whether you're outside watching the game in the DPR or you're in the comfort of your own living room, just have fun, man. College football is back in today's day one. Yeah, I mean, a couple of general college football things for me. I hope Xavier and Harris and DeQuin have really good seats in the stands for the LSU Climbson game tonight.
