Otega Oweh Named All-District, Kentucky Prepares for NCAA Tournament

0:00On March 17, Kentucky Guard Otega Oway earned another big honor this week. The National Association of Basketball Coaches named him to the Central District Second Team for the 2025-26 season. It's his second straight all-district nod after making the first team last year. He also grabbed all-Southies' conference, second team honors for the second year running. Oway put up strong numbers in 34 games, averaging 18.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.8 steals over 32.4 minutes per game. He shot 46.3% from the field and hit double figures in scoring in 33 of those outings. Against Southeast Conference foes, he topped 20 points in most of his 18 matchups. Those stats put Oway in a league company at Kentucky. His 6-18 points this season ranked second all-time for a transfer player in program history. He's the first Wildcass in Stramall, Mashburn in the early 90s to score at least 575 points in

He shared the second team with players like Louisville's Michael Brown Jr., Kansas's flurry by Dunga and Missouri's Mark Mitchell. Nebraska's Fred Hoyberg took coach of the year in the district. Oway gets a shot to build on this when seven-seated Kentucky faces 10th-seated Santa Clara on Friday at 12.15 p.m. Eastern time in St. Louis. The Wildcats aim to advance deep in the NCAA tournament.
