We are the Buckeyes, Woodabucca Nation. Woodabucca Nation, welcome to Buckeye Scoot, man. Got a good show playing for you guys today. Our first post-game show of the season,

we waited a long time for this day. The Buckeyes showed out. Obviously, we got some stuff to dive into, some stuff people aren't going to be happy with, some stuff people are going to be happy with, nothing new here in Buckeye land for the first game of the season. The Buckeyes take down Ball State, 50, 6 to 3, in a dominant fashion, as expected. But you all know what to do before we dive into this. Hit that like button, hit that subscribe button as well. If you're listening on Speaker Apple Podcast, give us a like and head on over to the Scoot message board. If you're not a part of that, stuff's going on over there all day long. And super chats, they are open. They go to our pay it forward, help our veterans and our first responders out. So get those in. We will get those answered. For those of you to do not know how these post-game shows kind of work, I'll kind of be the one operating them. But I always shoot B Moses and Funky and Nevada. They all have the links.

Sometimes they can pop in. Sometimes they can't. Looks like today we almost got a full house. Let me get these guys pulled up so we can get this thing going. My dude B Moses and my dude Funky B. What's good man? How you doing? You got to you got to. I just got finished mashing my wings. You know how to make sure I had no sauce in my face. But I'm doing all right man. I'm first week. Lots of things to talk to over react to. Be frustrated with love. Lots of stuff to talk about man. So I'm ready. Yeah. I cannot wait to be called a sunshine pumper after today's show because we'll see how it goes. Funky. What's good man? What's up, damn good to be back on the you know the post game shows. It's awesome having Buckeye football back and it's even better when we're coming off of a big win. We're you know what they say. Good teams win. Great teams cover and the Buckeyes covered today.

Versailles State. Yeah they did man. It was um you know the first half. That's what I kind of want to dive in here to the first half um of this Buckeyes game here. Obviously the rushing at half time. Um what was it I got it here. We had 325 total yards. 290 passing yards with 35 rushing yards. 2.1 yards per carry. And a lot of people were really diving into that on X. The message boards a lot of people upset with that. But we held ball states and 92 total yards. 55 passing yards and 36 rushing yards. At half time. So overall man like Julian Sain. And this Buckeyes offense in that first half with our wide receivers. Devon McEwen and J.J. Smith even branded in a set times. They showed up. They showed out and they showed that right. That's the best quarterback wide receiver duo in the nation. Julian Sain and J.J. Smith just kind of seem unfair.

But we wanted that car and L.T. Replacement. And you know we've been saying that person is Devon McEwen. It looks like he just proved it to the rest of the nation. Be Moses your thoughts on that first half of this game. Yeah um my guy Devon McEwen man. Y'all know the story when I was first told about him. I looked at the coaches like they had three heads when they told me he thought they thought he was a first round pick. Back in April. I'm like the kid from UTSA. I mean he's fast and we can use him but really? Now we're seeing like not only is he just fast but he's reliable. He has strong hands. There was a few catches where he got popped right when the ball arrived and he still squeezed it and and secured the catch. He looks like a very good overall receiver. So there's that. But yes I stayed off the X at half time. I was not on X. I knew it was about to be trash. Yes our old line did not play well.

I was frustrated. It was it was not a good performance. But you know the folks on X are going to be extra extra stupid. So I didn't even see it Dev. But yeah tell of two halves for sure. I'll stop there because we got a lot to cover. Yeah funky. Your first initial thoughts of the first half offensive side of the ball man. What were your overall thoughts of this game? Jeremiah Smith was I mean unbelievable. In the first I went eight catches a hundred fifty yards two touchdowns. I thought Julian saying looked you know really good after you know the couple you missed I think you missed one pass on that opening drive. I mean obviously the only real concern was you know the run game early on seemed like the Alvin's aligned couldn't get their blocks down. You know bow jacks and didn't look great especially in that first half. But you know clearly we made some adjustments at halftime and looked way better on the offensive line in the running game there in the second half. Yeah I kind of want to talk about that. Obviously everybody in the chat everybody on X they're really hand in

Philip Daniels you know what I was being told out of camp was he was going to be a lot better. I'll give it to you in this game he looked rough. He had some missed assignments. Right some miss blocks and stuff like that. They even tried switching Austin cerebelled out there the right tackle. He'd whift on one as well. It just seems like they were trying to find mixes and matches there to make it work the best that they could. You know the running back position bow jacks in at first he didn't look you know too decisive but then it's just like well our offensive line really isn't getting the blocks the way that they should but this passing game just kept making us you know not be too concerned with that against ball state but when we get into these bigger matchups Texas next week a lot of people are pointing to that. I guys I guess I'm a sunshine pumper I guess I'm crazy but I'm just not tripping quite yet. I'm just not it was the first half the second half we came out we had the long runs the explosive runs

and again this coaching staff you know I'm not going to choose to freak out over this game or over one player the coaching staff kept putting Philip Daniels in that position for a reason even though some of the things we saw what we're repeats the last year it is a concern I'm not saying it's not a concern but whatever that whatever the solution is for that I mean we don't have an option but to trust that this coaching staff is going to make the changes that are necessary if there are any changes that are needed. Vimosus your thoughts in particular on this offensive line in that first half and anything else you saw yeah I mean look you said trust the coaches obviously it was concerning seeing Philip Daniels just just get beaten with and just not be good right I mean it is what it is or I saw what we saw however nobody wants to beat Texas next week more than this coaching staff would you all agree

Devon and funky I know funky you're you you ain't got to say nothing but my point is I'm very confident that they're going to take this film and they're going to figure out what is best for a house state if that's benching Philip Daniels then that's benching Philip Daniels maybe they go with the other lineup that they were debating back and forth about right Padilla and and Saravelle maybe I don't know they're going to watch the film and they're going to make a decision so either way I think it's going to be fine because this staff will get it get it together the second half definitely was much better overall from a run game standpoint and listen I see people in a chat talking about lots of people over hyped from fall camp it's too early man it's too early to say that come on guys it's it's week one you got true freshmen who you got to remember these are still young young men in front of a hundred thousand and actually in front of millions out there playing a game with all the

hype all the pressure look at Chris Henry Jr. he dropped a couple balls you would probably make any other time and bobbled the last one you know me like you have nerves man but these they're going to be fine they're going to be fine it's too early to make definitive declarations right now after one game for especially new kids who haven't had a crack at it yet but I'll just say that man they got some work to do on the film but to me overall it's a four quarter game I thought how they bounced back in the second half was varying I was pleased the running back stepped up that bow jackson realm was great I thought that was great so I felt a lot better in the second half although they need to get it together for Texas and I believe they will dev yeah amen funky anything to add to that yeah I mean obviously we're going to have to have great off into line play if we want to go on the road in Austin in beat taxes for the third time in you know less than three years

it's going to take a heck of an effort from the buck guys but man we're talking about this game and you look at the final score and what 55 to 3 then the game pretty yeah you we had like about 700 yards of total offense we had 500 yards in the first three quarters and you know we held them to three points and their only points they got were you know a 54 yard feel goal or the first 54 the first Ohio State kicker hasn't made a 50 plus yard feel goal at home in 16 years but ball state comes in here once and you know stripes it down the middle or not down the middle but you know he made it with not a lot of what's some some room to spare um you know but just a testament to how good the defense was and we we're talking about this offseason about you know the linebacker in particular and I thought the linebackers you know really were some of the stars today with you know I looked tj Alfred but made a fantastic play on the interception like all the aggro look good uh pedagon I made some plays didn't notice a lot of pain pierced today

but uh that's a usually a pretty decent sign for a linebacker and you know obviously I feel like the defense played out of their minds like Jay Timins was super disruptive you know I didn't I didn't hear a lot about Earl Littles or um yeah I didn't hear a lot about Earl Littles but you know how it's safety position that's pretty good didn't hear anything really about Jaylen McLean but again at safety that's usually a pretty positive sign so I think the defense honestly exceeded my expectations for you know how disciplined they looked week one I thought maybe we would uh struggle a little more on that side of the ball and you know but they didn't even get one snap inside our 30 yard line the entire game hi this Dave Roberts heading into summer without a medical emergency kit that's a risk summer colds can linger and getting sick on vacation can derail everything that's why everyone needs a medical emergency kit it includes doctor prescribed medications to treat common and serious illnesses so if you wake up sick at home or on the road you already have what you need it's like having an urgent care and pharmacy at home say 45

dollars with code blue at urgentcare kit.com slash blue urgent care kit.com slash blue so calciss own CEO says it himself and yes two thirds of people on CalShi lose money so what does it take to be in the other third you have to do extensive amount of research to be good there are people that spend copious amount of money time resources energy they've dedicated their lives to basically becoming good at it all that and still and yes two thirds of people on CalShi lose money lose money that's CalShi in their own CEOs words go to www.fairpredics.com to learn more college football is back on polymarket you can trade what you think will happen against other fans before kick-off think your school is finally going all the way of course you do see what other fans think chat live with the polymarket community then take your own stance once the game starts keep trading live and exit whatever you want or combine multiple trades into one with polymarket combos live now in the app college football is an all-go trade-on baseball basketball

but definitely better than I expected and the offensive line you know obviously needs to step up first texas especially one to hold all that crown noise yeah I mean overall funky you said at 56 to three six hundred and forty one total yards of offense four hundred and thirty four of those passing two hundred and seven of those were rushing yards guys we held them to hundred and sixty five total yards on then they had forty five rushing yards 120 passing yards but you know you go back and you look at some of these players julien saying from last year I mean I think he took a huge step I 21 for 25 320 yards three total touchdowns first game first half starters are out there no turnovers no big mistakes I mean there was one penalty on James Smith though the horse color tack for 15 yards but offensively the offensive line not a bunch the starters not a bunch of you know miss haps as far as penalties it was a clean game for the starters most like for the

most part on both sides of the ball so do this first game wasn't astronomical success I know people want to dive into this offensive line and this is where I will get called a sunshine bumper because I'm calling this game an absolute success right we saw the depth of this team we talked about the depth and how we can utilize that throughout the season but julien saying seem to be in complete control throwing dimes calling you know had a lot more control with the line of scrimmage like we thought he would you heard him out there can cannon and change in plays and you spilled the art there Smith vibe with the play action out there our wide receivers look dominant especially with McEwen stepping up and be I stepping up the way he did you saw the promise some of these young wide receivers you saw both Jackson get it done well let me back up you saw julien saying get a resting touchdown yeah I think we you know what I'm saying like that was a prediction I had nailed it I was thrilled but back to these running backs bow jacks and at first this offensive line you know

I could see people questioning a little bit but he got he got them a momentum going I was thrilled to see Jacoby Jackson out there I thought he looked really good that was just me maybe he doesn't have that top end speed that you want but he looked like a hard runner man bouncing off a tackle was just getting those yards but legend bay man right to two kickoff returns but you can see why the coaches keep giving him these opportunities missing a meeting still getting opportunity doing those kickoff things still because he has the potential be the best running back in this room this year the dude is electric and very fun to watch we saw mason Williams our tight ends get the job done as well I'm wearing to talk about the offensive line so be overall our starters the offensive side of the ball what level it's successful we have this game oh listen I'll be honest with you I rewatch games I have to rewatch this game because I was getting a little pulled on a

little distracted family so I didn't get to sit down and fully like lock in lock in so I'm I have to rewatch but overall I would say yes there it was a success on offense overall okay how could you say it's not a success overall that's the key word that doesn't mean there wasn't any flaws all lines sticks out but overall absolutely there was some great execution in some spots and real quick I'll say Brandon in is he's a chain mover if we target him he will catch the ball and move the chains okay is he some you know flashy first round talent maybe not but he can help this team so that that's one for all you indicators out there he's a solid piece in a in a good player and then also legend Bay that dude man I was joking in the in the texture and I said he has to shake off that goofy Tennessee energy there's still Tennessee residue goofy Tennessee take your shirt off from

run out in the cold energy get that off of you legend but he bounced the back man from those two goofy like come on legend what are you doing chill bro I know he's a freshman but come on but he redeemed himself really really well but listen this the last thing I'll say to pass the mic in my mind this is how I think fellas and this is why you don't see me over reacting and getting Twitter fingers and hitting sand on goofy you know over reactive type comments is because it's a four quarter game the first half the O line was not good specifically certain players and my mind dev and funky what I'm thinking especially as a coach I put myself in the mind of a coach and I am a coach on a certain level how are they going to respond I was asking how was legend going to respond right that's what I want to see what's going to happen and we it we responded and we saw improvement now you want to see more improvement for Texas but it's a four quarter game and the way

the first half ended with the O line was concerning but I think we saw some good things in the second half in totality I think it was a success with some things to clean up especially that O line Devon yeah I agree with you things to clean up but got the job done against this opponent and you saw players like Julian and Bo and you know J.J and Devon McEwan you saw that we have the pieces out there to be a dominant offense this year with some things to fix it's the first game of the season right that just that's like every single first game of the season there's this same conversation I can go pull our post game up from the Texas game last year it's the same conversation man it just is funky your thoughts mainly on the offensive side of the ball success not a success what do you grade this offense out for the first game I think the offense gets us you know solid BB plus I mean we look like we're moving the ball with relatively ease throughout the game you know two

sacks in the first half it's you know definitely too many for especially this offense line to give up but you know but when you you have Julian saying on your team and Jura my Smith on your team and then we see you know what legend Bay can do when he when he's hands such the ball you know Christian Jr. even though he had some drops you know that he was open for a reason you know someone had to get him open and that was in himself so he looks really good Devon McEun hopefully I'm pronouncing that right look freaking unbelievable I mean that that guy is that guy's an NFL player plus some like he'll be up you know in the top 100 picks no doubt he looked yeah fantastic I mean you saw guilt for it out there catching the ball but what no one has talked about yet but then I looked at as like one of the most promising signs this entire day was the wider seavers are blocking their butts off Brock Boyd in particular man blocking his ass off and that's just stuff you love to see and stuff that you know you don't always see from wider seavers you're you know in general a a little bit of a diva position in football but man today they were they putting their head down

in blocking and that's why we had so many explosive runs um physically you know Bo Jackson Jacoby Jackson Jacoby Jackson doesn't necessarily you know have wheels like that so for him to you know have that huge rushing touch that takes you know all 10 people in the team but blocking for him you know the so and they did a fantastic job at that so I give it off and saw a BB plus no turnovers no really turnover likely plays on offense obviously Brandon fumbled it on a kick return or partner turn but besides for that you know we did a really good job at ball control and nothing really scary offensively so that yeah overall very good but you know next week out Texas we all know what that what what's going to happen that game right you know not what's going to happen but what's that stake and how that game's going to go because I'll tell you right now that's going to be hard to move the ball on the road first then I mean as it is or say any top team in the country yeah but don't but a little off topic but don't look now but Boise State is getting Oregon yeah you know a run for their money seven that's in late in the first quarter

and I think they have a ball too yeah or they just punt it with you know yeah I mean yeah and you know I talked about I did gave five bull takes on the board last night and one of them was that you know Boise State was going to bring Oregon the deep waters so Oregon as much as we like to you know complain about our team and as they should we hold all you know high state to a really high standard I mean look at the other teams around the country and you know compare us to them Indiana gave up a crop ton of points or do you know decent amount of points of North Texas you know in a bad North Texas team this is not the same team they had last year and you know Oregon struggling versus Boise State and you look at you know Alabama even gave up a touchdown versus you know some you know East Carolina so I mean other teams are you know really struggling and you know the buck eyes handled business and played a ton of kids we had super impactful freshmen all over the field and man these freshmen this might be one of the better freshman classes I've ever seen maybe the best freshman class I've ever seen in terms of impact the current wilder Jay Timmans Chris Henry Jr. Guildford Brock Boyd legend Bay and Luke

Fahey had massive impacts on this game today for the buck eyes yeah but before we get into the defensive side of the ball y'all know how I love my buck eye clothing right my hats my shirts my all that will be CKR Calhchee's own CEO says it himself and he has two thirds of people on Calhchee lose money so what does it take to be in the other third you have to do extensive amount of research to be good there are people that spend copious amount of money time resources energy they've dedicated their lives to basically becoming good at it is all that and still and he has two thirds of people on Calhchee lose money lose money lose money that's Calhchee in their own CEO's words go to www.fairpredics.com to learn more Dave Roberts here there you are surrounded by fans sharing wings sharing drinks high-fiving random strangers everybody remembers the game nobody remembers the guy coughing behind you until a few days later at 2 a.m. you wake up with the fever and your throats on fire now what urgent care close ER slam telehealth maybe but the pharmacies

you needed a medical emergency kit these aren't first aid kits they contain essential prescriptions use for over 30 common conditions sinus and ear infection UTIs stomach bug travelers diarrhea and more on hand before you need them use your doctor developed guidebook to select the right prescription or call their telemedicine doctor standing by it's like an urgent care and drug store at home when you're sick traveling or stranded you'll wish you ordered a medical emergency kit order online in minutes and it's shipped to your door and say 45 dollars with my promo code blue at urgent care kit dot com slash blue that's promo code blue at urgent care kit dot com slash blue Calhchee's own CEO says it himself and he has two thirds of people on Calhchee lose money so what does it take to be in the other third you have to do extensive amount of research to be good there are people that spend copious amount of money time resources energy they've dedicated their lives to basically becoming good at it all that and still and yes two thirds of people on Calhchee

lose money lose money that's Calhchee in their own CEOs words go to www.fairpredics.com to learn more a buck eye and college athletes I believe clothing place man they sent me to sweatshirt right here this thing is awesome y'all you see it on the screen bees pulling it up there for me the link is in the chat look at this stuff super high quality man like for real I'm not just saying I love this thing it's amazing if you guys are interested going out and get some new buck eye gear I highly encourage you going and checking this company out man really high quality stuff great partners to have man so we appreciate them and appreciate what they do go check them out the links in the description of the video it will also be put in the chat so check them out when you get an opportunity but funky you said it man this right freshman class right to me when we talk about the defensive side of the ball that's where I saw this freshman class really stand out right Jay

Timmans in there starting nickel position as we told you guys and I'm gonna be honest with you Cario Wouter on that defensive line he looked like a starter out there he looked like somebody just causing mayhem I mean he was utilized in with the starters on third down plays on the inside and he was tossing them dudes around and he's a freshman I mean he was tossing around caused pressure which caused the interception he was in there doing work but defensively map Patricia right with all these starters we lost we talked about the depth of right the defense this year we saw that this game but we also saw right we need some guys to step up and be those first round talents on the defensive defensive line we saw can yada Jackson get so close multiple times that 250 pound quarterback was hard to bring down that got a little aggravating at times but then again dudes and athletes 250 pounds that the defense got the job done funky said

they didn't get inside our 30 yard line the whole game John Walker had some moments where he stood out James Smith did Will Smith Jr did can yada Jackson epic Tani Lay did as well Zion Grady I mean they were they had their moments and as the season goes on we'll see more of these guys getting more of a rhythm as far as who they're playing with but you saw a lot of different combinations today so this defense of line I have a lot of hope with them some still some things to work on some guys need to step up right get some sacks create some pressure keep going with your doing stop this run and be more sure it's your tackling again one of these first game things that I always that we always talk about tackling right it got talked about last year in the Texas game too we need to be better at tackling first game of the season right things will be at better map Patricia if you know anything about him he's pretty big on fundamentals so when he goes back and watches this film and he sees some of these missed tackles oh I promise you I'm practice they're

going to get an earful and it will be corrected this is map Patricia and that's what he does so defensive line B your thoughts coming out of this game yeah so again four disclosure I need to go back and rewatch to really dive in but from what I saw at first glance I definitely saw some good things man Walker I mean he he made some plays man he pushed that pocket a few times and disrupted I was very impressed with him and listen to your point about the quarterback that dude is 250 and muscular he's not just fat and slow he's a big boy so two things can be true this is probably going to be the toughest quarterback to tackle and bring now on the entire schedule and you still got to tackle better two things could be true so I would say the next closest is what who's the hardest quarterback to tackle arch maybe because he's a he's a big kid and he's fast you know don't

take more yeah I don't take more I don't think he's as I don't know he doesn't seem as elusive and strong to bring down I don't know but the point is this ball state kid was a tough bring down now with that said he's still got to bring him down but I think I saw some good things on the on the defensive line at first glance I want to see a little bit more pressure especially on third down you know but as again it's the first game and I still need to go back and rewatch and see some things but I saw some things with the D line Jason Moore Jason Moore got an air-mated play that was his first play that he's like he's made like for real for real so I'm like okay you want to see that depth step up and get confident and so I liked what I saw at first glance yeah funky your thoughts on this defensive line and then we'll get to the other the rest of the defense here I mean to me they looked I mean I was disruptive as I've seen you know any Ohio State defensive line the last couple of years I mean James Smith got to the quarterback early you know you had to

drive him by the horse collar but still is very you know very disruptive I mean I think I saw he no pedagon down there can Yada almost got to the quarterback a few times but it felt like the pressure was there and we were we were hitting this guy I mean pretty physically hard and I didn't feel like you know he had all day to throw I mean there's a reason why you know they had such trouble moving the ball and they were they had to go down to you know the classic play action check downs they checked down a lot to the wide receivers um but I thought the defensive backs also did a fantastic job in coverage so overall I great yeah I grade the defense very high I think Devon Sanchez showed a lot of improvement from his freshman year I know it's just ball state but even I mean last year you know David was you know struggling early even versus some lesser teams but but today man he looked he looked good he looked like a kid who you know took all off season and learned a lot and he made a really nice play on that like third and medium rub route early on and you know germane looked good uh J Timins looked just freaking amazing but yeah overall the defensive line

available at lows yeah again you saw a lot of different defensive lineman making plays from Zion graded epi to john walker will smith jr so listen the depth is there and as the season goes along they'll get more comfortable playing with each other but be listen to me maybe I had my eyes on him a little you know a lot this game and that's why but the position group that I got most excited about and it wasn't even with our starters was watching tj outford and Riley petty john runner round out there bro yes like yes I was just about to mention alpha man I was pumped when he made that interception that was cool like that was that was great outford was everywhere dude he was all over the place and Riley was too Riley seemed to be in the right spot at the right times and you just see their athleticism man I you know I mean Christian aliegro the announcers gave him some credit for some things that you know I just didn't see him pop too much but again that first game whatever same with Peyton Pierce I saw him make some good plays as

well but to me tj and riley just look different out there man they just do and that was me maybe that's my scarlet glasses on or my fan to my half for those two but tj and riley seem to be just a little bit different at that position than the other two which is a good thing for this team it's versatility right depending on who we're going against and what not it allows us to play different packages and that's the other thing we're talking about the defense and it's not like we saw a bunch of exotic looks from Matt Patricia that we know he has right we didn't we saw unless I'm you know not good at seeing these things I didn't see a lot of you know exotic things Matt Patricia was trying to you know throwing here I saw a lot of base things maybe some different third down personnel but that's it and in this second area as well funky hit on it but Jay Timins had his hands on the ball a couple different times I believe Devin Sanchez as well that first play Devin Sanchez they caught a ball on him and I was like dude he was right in position just a good pass good ball that happens

with defensive backs but duty came back had a great game germane Matthews had some great tackles as well some great great coverage opportunities so again Jaylen McLean I saw Lee Roy Roker in there just so I saw so many different players on this defense and again they had to kick a 54 yard field and I don't care if it was just ball state you saw Indiana give up like 16 points to north Texas you like you see and around the country first game right some of these defenses are struggling when you lose this much NFL talent the way that Matt Patricia did and you come into this game and you utilize so many different players and you put together right would they have again a total of 100 and I don't even know hundred and 65 yards that's a success to me I mean I think that's a success and I saw you see we got some stars on this defense man and I think TJ and Riley Jay Timins Devin Sanchez Jaylen McLean I think these guys are gonna be able to hold this defense as a top five

defensive unit in the in the country this defensive line's gonna come together I just got excited watching these young guys and all these all the rotation we got going on in this game you know these coaching staff they got a lot of film to go look at now some corrections to be had but a lot of good things fundamentally on the defensive side of the ball and I think a good foundation to go to build the rest of the season on especially 51 new faces on the entire team I feel like this was a success on the defensive side of the ball no doubt yeah no I agree I was just looking at the stats again as well and I was just laughing to myself like if you were to show if someone didn't see the game but they saw the stats they would probably never know that we struggled you know and in the online area because look both Jackson average 9.2 yards and Jacobi Jackson 10.4 yeah obviously we saw them the team what average 2.1 yards per

carry a half so we know that but that's why it's a four quarter game now look I'm watching this organ game still and on the TV and they have zero points in the second quarter at home now Boise State is not a terrible program but they're not ranked either and this is a top five organ team I mean I just keep thinking like listen it's okay to critique and say I'm concerned about things but man like I really really truly believe that this staff is going to get in there and fix what needs to be fixed I also believe that this team will be ready to play at a higher level higher clip on the road at Texas I just do we how many times have we seen this y'all where we see and you say playing down the competition I mean I don't really know if it's that per se it's the first game

game jettars newness like Dev said 51 new faces I mean listen I'm really glad this year we had this game to really put this out in the field make some plays make some mistakes and get ready for week 2 and so I'm just saying I get it things to fix but man the perspective of comparing the rest of the country and then also just understanding that you know we got some good talent they're going to get better I'm pumped for this Texas game because we're going to see some improvement and some higher execution in my opinion yeah absolutely funky you've said it a couple times now but give us your you know defensive side of the ball linebacker secondary thoughts you have on this team and kind of wrap this thing up give us your overall feel this first game yeah I mean just overall there I'm very excited because this team oh this is how I say team looks as talented and as good as you know any Ohio State team in the last couple of years a couple of years year or you know we've been

performing you know at a top three let's side of the ball on both sides of the ball and you know all these first round talents and all these NFL guys and we've had like what 27 people make NFL roster from the last two years from this the last year Ohio State teams so overall super happy because you you you you hear a lot about people during camp but just seeing when the team goes out there and executes at a high level and you know really shows you know who they are and how good we can be this year and you know shows us that we can compete at a national title away for you know the 15th year in a row or whatever the year in a row it is now for how good we've been for you know pretty much my entire life was overall really good but you know the depth the freshman and julian sane and germ i smith were you know this what made me excited today because when you have you know the young kid one young guy step up and then you know your veterans step up that that can create a very very special team down the road and you know obviously week two versus Texas is

going to be a heck of a heck of a game you know and we we we truly have a you know great chance to lose the game but also great chance to win the game so we'll see what happens but I can guarantee you it's going to be a close and it's going to be a great game and you know being a team three times in three years is insanely hard especially a team like Texas so if we can get out of that with a win man that would be insane but yeah we'll see what the boys do next week in Austin you know we'll will be we'll be slight underdogs that game we'll probably be at you know minus two and a half trading out about like play 45% on Calche so it should be very interesting you know funky speaking of Calche man my prediction for this week man is for LSU to beat Clemson you see um the market has them trading at 77% right now personally for LSU obviously the influx of talent they brought in the money they're spending on this team I mean you go over to Calche right now

get LSU on this drop right here if you want to make your own college football predictions this season check out the Calche using my link in the description and pinned in the comment my code is already in that link um you trade $20 you you receive $20 so it's a good one it's one of the big games on for tonight so Calche great place to go I use them all the time for bets like this so go get LSU trading is 77% right now the link is in the description of the video as well in the comments over there one last thing before we get out of here gentlemen um a lot of people want to make a big deal Luke Fahey was obviously the second string quarterback this time we alluded to that coming into this game we're talking about second and third string quarterbacks right now that's the future of this program a lot can change from now until until then but I thought Luke look real comfortable out there and I thought Tavian had some really good plays as well so based off of their play in today's game

I can't differentiate which one I would rather have out there but that's that's just my honest take I mean Luke looked a little more comfortable in it but Tavian saying clear made some plays as well with his athleticism and his traits that he has so coaching staff will get that figured out again I think it's a good thing for this team to have right those options available the way we do not many teams in the country have you know three star quarterbacks fighting uh to take five stars out that's a good sign for Ohio State and our backup quarterback position any final thoughts on that be your funky yeah yeah yeah I was looking at that looking at the chat and I agree man I agree it was it was pretty you could tell why there's been a back and forth competition I mean they look pretty even pretty equal even statistically they were you know so I mean I got to put up right now um yeah so uh Tavian had 52 yards with a TD Luke Feh he had 62 yards with a TD and they both

had one in completion so they were almost identical I don't know how many snaps they had versus one one another but both look solid man I mean Tavian looked good he made some plays like you said so you know it's it's a good problem to have you got two solid options for backups pushing each other and so you know we may need to step in for a player to or even longer you never know it's college football but one other one thing I wanted to say quickly I was trying to work it in earlier is that Jeremiah Smith looks even better but he looks even better like he looks like a pro like how can I put it he looks even more polished than he did last year like is anybody else seeing that like he jumps off the screen like man he's good like he he's gotten better I don't know how to explain it that sounds dumb but you can see it right Devon like can't you see it on the screen like his routes his his ball catching I mean hit the smoothness his IQ he just looks so much more confident and in control

nobody's talking about that really because he's so good but I saw it it was very noticeable and that's all I'll say about that yeah and I act like sorry sorry one last thoughts for me Luke Fahy Fahy oh sorry I'm mispronouncing that probably again but man he looked like a stud out there and he looked like a real Ohio state level quarterback out there and he he looked like he was processing at a high level um you know his accuracy looked good his mobility in the pocket look good the offense just looked calm out there and I have to give credit to Ryan Day and this coaching staff for you know figuring out this three starred from you know one of the highest levels of competition or look it is the highest level of competition in the nation and probably similar to you know some high level FCS low level FBS competition in high school in Southern section division one slash open division um but yeah man he looked fantastic and then I literally looked comfortable in the pocket and I thought you know him being the second quarterback on the field was telling and as we talked about in the offseason we thought Luke won that quarterback

two position late in the fall and it you know serves seems like that's the truth right there and it seems like Luke is probably our second best option at quarterback you know over you know five star number two number three player in the country Tavine St. Clair and you just have to think about it you know has to be probably be about the difference of high school level competition and how that makes a player ready to play in college football early because Luke didn't he pretty much just got on campus well so credit to the coaching side for making that development and you know obviously that's going to push Tavine just to be that much better and it's going to you know create for a you know a great quarterback competition between you know maybe them two maybe a portal kid good you know it's something to look forward to in the future yeah absolutely going to be an interesting battle to keep an eye on the rest of the year and see how the thing plays out but again like like we said earlier it's good there's a high state program and have players pushing other players couple super chats here $1.99 bench Daniels and move Austin to tackle they did move Austin to tackle he whiffed immediately it happens in the first game man it happens

I understand Daniels is is taking the brunt of a lot of stuff here rightfully so for a lot of things he did wrong in this game but you know I I'm seeing that we got a lot of good games going on now but you know first game this season the coaching staff kept putting him for a reason yet it's got a trust Arthur Smith this coaching staff the good thing is we got a lot of depth on this offensive line so if Daniels isn't the answer I believe the answer is on this roster right to make this offensive line the best but I'm not by no way shape or form of my you know wanting Daniels benched right now for anything if he comes out in the first half of Texas and and does this then you might hear me say something different but that's I might take fellas any thoughts on that yeah I'll be quick man it's it's tough because there's the balance of coaching a guy through something and just having a quick trigger finger right I mean they put all this time and work in he earned the start through fall camp

and now he just didn't have a great day what do you do as a coaching staff do you hold on did they just score did they just score wow so I missed the first play okay they're about to show the replay now listen we're live watching this game okay they're showing it right now just a simple screen wow the organ ducks man how do you think their fans are feeling right now wait man I'm so far behind I literally just saw Oregon score their touchdown yeah what the heck yeah you are alive bro I was confused like why are we celebrating an organ touchdown here guys and then I'm but wow yeah but yeah but you're saying be continued sorry no I'll just wrap up but no that's that's listen but again Boise State beating number two Oregon at Oregon 14 to 7 now four quarters they still you know Oregon still may win this game Calhchee's own CEO says it himself

and yes two thirds of people on Calhchee lose money so what does it take to be in the other third you have to do extensive amount of research to be good there are people that spend copious amount of money time resources energy they've dedicated their lives to basically becoming good at it all that and still and yes two thirds of people on Calhchee lose money lose money lose that's Calhchee in their own CEOs words go to www.fairpredics.com to learn more this episode sponsored by avid every time you turn on the radio or watch your favorite show chances are you're listening to something that came through pro tools because pro tools by avid isn't just another DAW it's the industry standard the chosen tool set of Grammy winning producers Hollywood sound designers and everything in between and it scales with you whether you're making beats in your bedroom or mixing in a professional studio there's a version of pro tools for every creator artist studio and ultimate start small grow big your sessions can grow with your career pro tools let's you take the sounds in

i'm an aspiring coach as well and to me it's the best way to look at things logically do you just trash can a guy who worked hard all fall camp to earn the start and had a rough outing or do you try to coach him through it and keep his confidence up that's the question right so at the end of the day Ryan Day will do what's best for a house state he says at all the time if it's benching Daniels it's benching Daniels but i just don't we'll see even if he trots out there i'm going to trust that they're doing the right thing and like dev said man if he if he still screws up get him out of there that's all you can do you know so yeah go ahead yeah let's uh koolest things for the $10 man fej he is a dude i think wilder should be de1 over bow we need to clean up the penalties and start the game a little bit better but i'm happy yeah fej he looked real good out there and dude it's hard to you know first game against ball state car wilder

there he did he looked dominant out there bro ever snappy god he did so it's hard to argue that it is but the coaching staff sees these guys every day so i'm going to defer back to them to make those type of decisions but yeah first game there's obviously stuff to clean up but a really good foundation to go on here to leto geo thanks for the two dollars legend building the legend those oh h are you go boss fej or wilder or legend bay gentleman that we haven't already said no that's it i want belabor to point for the sake of time you know legend's going to be great wilder's going to be great they both pop today yeah just gotta keep legend and just legend listen to your captains and coaches please that that's my one cry do that and you'll have you'll probably win multiple hysmans here at ios david like seriously yeah the war the world is your oyster my friend just listen uh steley thanks for the 99 671 yards of offense

held them to 165 yards on defense wow buck i nation yeah just look at those numbers guys i think we're pretty good clueless thanks for the five dollars new nickname for bow jackson go go bow yeah took them a minute to get going i could see how people were kind of getting on him a little bit like well what you know the first his first run didn't go for a hundred yard touchdown so obviously people are gonna say he's not very good but right offensive line had their struggles i think we got it running back in bow jackson but legend bay though legend bay it's just hard to it's hard to ignore that man but again bow and jacobie both got to dob done any thoughts today are gentlemen yeah yeah real quick i think i saw the comments about uh legend bay might be the the answer for running back over the other two i'm not going to overreact to that i don't agree with that yet let's let's slow down guys in my opinion but i got to go back and rewash the game but to me maybe bow jackson was a little hesitant sometimes maybe but it was also 13 guys in the backfield

almost half the time in the first half when when he was handed the ball so it like it's kind of hard to fully judge bow jackson when there was really not much running room most of the time you got anything funky no you're i mean you're rewry i don't think legends the answer at running back yet clearly he's probably the best running back with the ball in his hands but as we all know running back a lot more than just having the ball in your hands um but yeah i mean it'll be interesting it will be interesting because legend is quite clearly the best running back when the balls in his hands so when you're when you're that dangerous you're gonna have to touch the ball and legend has to touch the ball a ton you know but the kid also you know has to be able to block past protect and do all that other stuff that you know maybe like to kobi jackson or bow jackson or i say a west you know have another year full of experience of doing it you know legend played high school quarterback so i'm i don't know this for fact but i get you know almost guarantee you that his past protection is subpar for all have states wanting exactly yeah glueless thanks for the five

dollars brother let's calm down daniel's will be okay he needs to keep his feet moving and not stop his feet and he'll be better glueless i couldn't agree with you anymore but now it no way two dollars said philip daniel's this week it should be replaced so you got two sides of the fan base here i'm on the side i'm not tripping or ever acting about philip daniel's for those that watch the end of last season and we're on that that train of our offensive lions are weakest blankets are weakest length and then they see this here yeah i understand your mindset and wow let's change some things up right away i was not on that bandwagon i still don't agree with it i think this offensive line is gonna wind up being one of the stronger units on the on his team but this game does not prove that point so right i look like i'm wrong right now but we will see when it matters against texas something to playoffs in these bigger games we'll see we'll see if far through smith ryan daniel's coaching staff can bring this unit together and be what i think

they can be and that's one of the best offensive line rooms in the country but right they didn't give me a leg to stand on and and say much about them today so if you're having questions about the offensive line i can't tell you you're wrong yet but i trust this coaching staff right to make these decisions fellous final thoughts anything on this again yeah yeah yeah i'll just uh i said it earlier with the coaches you got to put your mind you got to put yourself in the shoes of the coaches is it a quick trigger figure or do you help coach the young man you've been coaching all fall who earned their starting spot to to to get through it i don't i don't know listen no way i'm not mad at you for say if you fill up damages leading to be replaced i get the frustration he was very frustrating today but it's up to the coaches not to us i'm sure they're going to do whatever makes the most sense for the team and we'll see i just i know that sounds whatever but it's

it's the truth man so that's it for that funky yeah i mean i just it's hard to um make the calls on that personally and i trust day and the staff to uh make the calls on this but i do think um you know if the offensive line continues to struggle like this we will have to start questioning you know the Tyler bow and higher and filth Daniels but filth Daniels last year looked so great first Texas so i have to believe that he's going to go in this game with the confidence and the readiness to you know dominate just like you did last year versus you know the toughest or the second toughest defensive line in the nation uh that you know that Texas has and probably the best pass rush for the nation in calling Simmons who's going to go head the head with filth Daniels so and remember calling Simmons all the trash he talked last year and you know fill up how well he did first calling so that's the storyline the most important storyline i'm following this week um and obviously you know filth knows and he has to be better um so just up to the staff and fill up to show up at Texas

Saturday nights with a loud crowd noise and play better than he did versus ball state at home so is it a hard task? Absolutely uh can he do it? Yes and he's done it before so i just got to trust the staff to make that call and you know i try not to worry about the little stuff like that because Ryan Day has been pretty dang good at the little stuff in his tenure here yeah dev fellas this is going to be this is going to be the debate all week go ahead bro this this filth Daniels stuff is going to be the hot ticket go ahead bro oh it is still a dollar on the on welcome to overreaction Saturday afternoon yes still a like i said listen guys whether you're uh replace philip Daniels fan or you're let the coaches do the coaches do fan the one thing that we both have in common there is we both want those things why because we want Ohio state to be better okay so it doesn't have to turn into a you're wrong i'm right you're an idiot you're you know you're not whatever it is but we'll see i am going to let this coaching staff do out all the spring and all the fall can't

fill up Daniels beat everybody else on the team and it looked like that was the best unit to put on the thing and one game against ball state it doesn't look like that they got a lot more right thing showing that that is the correct unit to put on the field then they do this one half against ball state that's just my mindset right some people are going to say philip Daniels struggled the last two games of the season but he didn't in Texas he shut Colin Simmons down a first round draft pick so you know i'm saying so you go back and forth all day with this coaches will get it figured out i'm not on the bandwagon of let's replace an offensive lineman already fellas any final thoughts so we can go watch this organ game we can watch LSU Clemson tonight get on kalshi and get your bet to get your predictions placed and we can watch Michigan lose to western Michigan tonight being fun to do. Ro Ro organ Ro Ro that boys you say it's got the ball

again how to you know could go up two scores with you know they get a first down but you know it just makes me happy to be able to have a state fan because we don't ever deal with like these games like that like or at least i mean not ever but you guys know what i'm talking about in the last like 15 years we haven't really had many games like this at all less than we had in the urban and my area era under Ryan Day so it's pretty pretty i'm pretty grateful for it especially after watching this game i came in a match and being an organ fan right now i'd be you know losing my losing my stuff right now because you know this team they look bad they look trash i'd say i mean but this is how they looked when they almost lost to Idaho two years ago and but undefeated team so this is not the first time where they've looked this bad week one i think they almost lost to did they play boys you state the beginning of last year or is that the year before they almost almost they had to win at the very last second or something crazy like but how did you got final thoughts no uh oh i thought fucks you i'll say something else no uh i just i'm just laughing at the chat i'm laughing

at our fan base i'm laughing at college football we're back baby it is what it is man we do this every year we do overreact listen having i'm not saying having a concern is overreacting i'm saying making a definitive declarative statement about that concern after one game is overreacting i mean we'll see man listen we all want to beat texas Ryan day wants to go on a road and beat texas he's not going to have somebody start who he believes it's not going to give him the best shot to beat texas so we'll see maybe Daniels will get benched maybe he will but if he doesn't it's not because the coaches don't care or they didn't do their due diligence and watch film and you to see who was better right he started this game because he earned it is he going to correct these issues by next week that's the million dollar question we'll see but i'm not going to worry about what the coaches going to do because they're going to do what's best for the program i have they have my trust

now Ryan day has my trust in that so we'll see but this is going to be the this is going to be the topic all week Philip Daniels all week all week get ready for baby i know i hopefully uh well again i i don't even need to say it but i wanted to say dude we all root for the same team everybody gets been out of shape if you say something it's like we were a high state fans like like we don't need to you know hate each other because i want to fill up Daniels and you don't it's just like god come on man first game of the season the book is dominated it is football season man get excited we got texas next we got an upcoming week of shows for you guys we're going to have a high-os take on it's going to be a good week i'm going to have a text show on get their thoughts it's going to be a good week leading up to this Texas game we'll see how these buckais do that's going to be a test for sure but y'all before we get off of you know what to do hit that like button hit that subscribe button as well if you're not a part of the scoop message board get on over there and we appreciate your super chats that go to our pay it forward enjoy college football tonight
