Opurum's Transfer: Auburn's Frontcourt Shakeup

0:00On April 22nd, Auburn's 7-foot center and Mecha O'Pourham just announced he's entering the NCAA transfer portal. The big man barely saw action this season, missing most games due to an undisclosed medical issue. In his six appearances for the Tigers, he averaged 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. His standout moment came in a blowout win over Merrimack, where he tallied 11 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in 19 minutes. That was back in early November, and his final game against St. John's on November 11th, 2026, was just six quiet minutes, with one rebound. O'Pourham came to Auburn from Butler Community College in Kansas after time in the NBA Africa program. This marks another departure in coach Stephen Pearl's first year leading the Tigers, testing their roster depth of front. Pearl's already responding through the portal, adding size with forward Adam Olson from South Alabama. Thomas Dowd from Troy, Owen Freeman from Creighton, and center Bucky O'Boy from Santa Clara.
