The lasting impact of a modern-day saint, Mother Teresa visited Tulsa in 1976, speaking on her mission and religious order.
Mother Teresa built her order with a simple message, to love the poor as Christ did. She stressed the importance of recognizing not just the homeless but those living spiritually destitute lives.
Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997, and was beatified six years later, on October 19, 2003, by Pope John Paul II. She was canonized on September 4, 2016, By Pope Francis.
