Education Minister Paul Kalandra announced this move to equip kids with real-world money skills, like budgeting and managing finances. Starting soon, this test becomes mandatory for everyone. Earlier this year, the province planned to roll out updated curriculum requirements right at the start of the school year. But Kalandra hit pause in June, along with a few other changes, to give teachers extra time to get ready. The test shifts away from grade 10 math and lands instead in the grade 10 career studies course. Officials say this keeps things focused and practical for students building their futures. TVO is stepping up to create the learning modules and test questions. Kids need at least 70% to pass, and if they fail twice, they'll get more instruction and support before retrying. This change aims to set young people up for financial success right out of school, making sure no one graduates without those essential money smarts.
