On March 5th, Oldham Road and Manchester, a busy stretch of the A-62, is set for a third round of digging this year. Transport leaders say, locals want these upgrades for safer travel and better buses. The latest push comes after two earlier projects wrapped up late last year. We're kicked off in February 2025, near the Wing Yip Superstore to add bike lanes and crossings. The Lays push the finish from April all the way to late November. Then crews shifted to nearby Rochdale Road in December for more Northeast Gateway fixes. Locals and businesses felt the pain hard. Neighbors called the first round an insane saga that killed off trade. A historic pub nearby said the vibrations scared away customers and shook the building. Now officials from Manchester Council and Transport for Greater Manchester. Planed bus lane expansions, better stops, segregated bike paths, and tweaked traffic lights. The road saw 36 crashes over five years, seven serious ones, while handling 43 bus services hourly in each direction.
These changes come from a government grant, so they couldn't start sooner. A public consultation is open on mine for residents to weigh in and shape the safer journeys ahead. is a head.
