Officer Rescues Woman from Drowning

PC Adam Darlo spotted her from a bus while heading home after a night shift on March 7, 2025, and acted fast to save her life. The incident happened over the river Kennet and Reading, where the woman fell from her bridge into the freezing current. Darlo called emergency services right away, then ran along the riverbank until he could reach her. He climbed down into the dark water, grabbing a life boy and using help from a passerby, and arriving officers to pull her out safely. Despite the cold numbing his legs, adrenaline helped him climb back up afterward. Colleys and police leaders praised his quick instincts and bravery, noting he put duty first, even off the clock. The chair of the Metropolitan Police Federation called him a real credit to the force. This story shows how one officer's split-second decision made all the difference for someone in crisis.
