A massive influx of young officers is about to hit the state's police force, the largest class in 13 years. Proud to see them graduate at Goldman today, the commissioner says its assigned recruitment has turned a corner. Emotions running high, 349 new police officers sworn in. The largest number of graduates since 2013, a new chapter for some, a trip down memory lane for others. That same sense of pride, the same sense of excitement, sits with you every time I come down here. Twins Clay and Brock Singh from the town of Young starting their career in the Shire. Coming from Young, no beats, nothing out there, definitely a better lifestyle. The vast majority of new constables will be stationed in Greater Sydney, 89 ahead of the southern and eastern suburbs, 66 will serve in northern and western Sydney, our south
west will get 72 and 122 young cops are heading to the regions. Growing numbers deeply satisfying for the police, initiatives like be a cop in your hometown, boosting recruitment. I was back in a number of offices the day who have come from regional new South Wales and they're going back where they came from. It's a short turnaround for these new police officers who are at their postings by Monday. Some of them barely even getting any time to say goodbye to their families. I think they'll be happy to get me away at home. Rex Quail, 7 years.
