0:00Live from NPR News in Washington. I'm Linda Kenyon. Tech leaders are joining the call for a slowdown in AI advancement after warnings that rapid development could be detrimental to humans. And Pierre-Ashondalees' duster has more. Elon Musk and other tech leaders are embracing inthropic CEO Dario Amadei's warning to slow down developing AI before it becomes uncontrollable. In social media Saturday, Musk wrote that Amadei is right. And that quote, I've been sounding the alarm on AI for a long time. Open AIC, EO Sam Altman also says his company will slow down AI advancement and would delay its public offering until at least 2027 because of safety concerns. While President Trump brushed aside the concerns as negative forces bringing up things that quote, won't happen, David Sachs, co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology says he supports tech companies slowing down. 1:02President Trump says his comment supporting unification of Ireland should be praised, not criticised. It just seems to me that you have Northern Ireland and you have Ireland and it seems to me that one of the natural's of all time is what I'm together for. That's only my opinion. In many people agree, I made the comment just, I made what I consider to be a fairly routine. I've had so much support on that. And they asked me about Scotland, that one I won't talk about yet. The President was speaking at his golf course in Dunedbed, Ireland. His earlier comment that Irish unification would be fantastic, touched off protests. There have been historic divisions and violence between the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdoms, Northern Ireland. Ukrainian rail officials say a Russian drone struck a train near the border with Poland today, shortly after several visiting officials, including from the UK and the US had passed through that station.

2:02The BBC's James Landel reports. Russia is escalating its conflict with Ukraine and its new tactics involved targeting trains and border crossings. Early this morning, a special train was heading west, carrying VIPs home from a high level conference in Kiev. About an hour or so later, a Russian drone struck a locomotive in the very station that VIPs had passed through just on the Ukrainian side. Some passengers had been evacuated from trains, and there were no reports of casualties. Ukraine's rail operator said it was quite likely Russia had targeted the diplomatic train, because it had left the station earlier than planned. The BBC's James Landel. A Russian-American media in Iran say an Iranian commercial vessel has been struck off Kashm-Island in the Strait of Hormuz. One person was killed four others injured. Even before the first serve of Sunday's match, Shelton's appearance in the final was a bit of history. He has mixed race. His father, Brian, is black. Making Shelton the first black man to play in the US Open Men's Singles final since Arthur Ash, more than half a century ago. It was also Shelton's first career Grand Slam final. And of course, no American man has won a Grand Slam singles title since 2003. But the 23-year-old couldn't overpower the 6-foot 6 Germans Verov. The big two of men's tennis these days, Yannick Center and Carlos Algros, have both had injuries this year, leaving the door unusually wide open for others. And Zverov, it's taken advantage. Beijing is tightening its ban on drones to include possession within city limits. Storage of drones or even the key components used to make them will also be banned.

4:08The city had previously banned the sale of drones. The changes follow a fatal accident in June involving a small aircraft that crashed into a skyscraper. The pilot was killed. 13 other people were injured. Under the revised rules, Chinese authorities can confiscate drones and impose fines for non-compliance.
