President Trump is in Dublin, where he met Saturday with Prime Minister Mejell Martin, who's also known as the T-Shuck, and Irish President Catherine Connolly. Trump caused the outrage when he suggested that Ireland and Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, should be united. Is NPR's Franco-Ordonia, just tells us? He really did set off a bit of a political crisis here when he said that this idea would be a terrifying one for Northern Ireland, and that was quickly apparent. As we heard almost immediately from Northern Ireland leaders, really rejecting this idea, now Trump boasted that the T-Shuck was the guy actually who could solve this issue, and that remark itself made the T-Shuck Martin seem to be very uncomfortable, and Martin quickly sought to change the subject. The leaders of Anthropic and OpenAI are both urging caution, andthropic CEO Dariel Amadeh says the industry should slow down, and Piers Shannon Bond reports.

1:00In a new essay, Amadeh says AI companies should deliberately slow the pace at which they improve their model's capabilities, because the technology is advancing so quickly. He says he's worried about a recent incident where rival OpenAI's agents went rogue and hacked another company. Amadeh says labs need to embed third-party evaluators to report incidents and track safety practices, and that Anthropic will do so. He's also calling for international cooperation around AI development. Public warnings about AI safety are mounting after the recent resignation of an anthropic researcher who warned the AI industry is not acting responsibly. Shannon Bond and Piers News. Anthropic is a financial supporter of NPR. The Democratic Republic of Congo says it believes the current Ebola outbreak there has peaked. A government spokesperson says the number of new cases has been falling since mid-August, 10 out of 61 health zones have recorded no cases for the last three weeks. In a statement today, South African police say the Nigerian nationals who are handed over to FBI agents at a South African airport are alleged to be members of the Black Axe Organized Criminal Network. According to police, the extradited suspects are alleged to have targeted cause of women in the US and defrauded them of more than $6 million through online scams. Black Axe grew out of a student fraternity in Nigeria, evolving into a violent criminal organization. In July this year, Nigerian authorities said they arrested several suspects in Nigeria after foiling what they described as a celebration to mark a Black Axe anniversary for NPR News and Michael Kalloki. The US women are once again in the FIBA World Cup Basketball Championship game after a 76-66 win over Spain on Saturday. It'll be their fifth consecutive title game they'll face France and what will be a rematch of the 2024 Parasolimpic Gold Medal game.
