Five people were killed when a cargo plane crashed at the Miami International Airport on Sunday, but San Piers Ping-Wong reports local officials say the scene was chaotic. Just before 2pm on Sunday afternoon, an Amazon cargo plane crashed as it tried to land at the busy Florida airport. Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordera Stuts says it overran the runway. It came to rest at a field adjacent to the airport. At this time, we can confirm that we have at least five to six individuals and we have multiple individuals that were transported to local hospitals with unknown injuries. Video posted on social media shows the Boeing 767 with its tail over the airport's fence and thick black smoke rising from the aircraft. Local officials said there was a fuel leak they were working to mitigate. It's unclear so far what caused the crash, though the National Transportation Safety Board says they're sending a team to the site and launching an investigation. The airport is open again, but passengers have been warned to expect long delays in cancellations. Ping-Wong and PR News.

1:03White House envoys Steve Whitcough and Jared Kushner were in Ukraine Sunday for talks aimed at ending Russia's war on that country. Russia invaded Ukraine more than four years ago. Kushner and Whitcough held similarly talks in Moscow on Saturday. After those talks ended, Kushner said the discussions went well. There is a pathway. There is a dialogue. These are a really hard problem. I mean, this is a war that started before, obviously, President Trump took office, but he sees the huge cost that it's having on the battlefield, on just every citizen in both countries. The Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court again to clear the way for a U.S. Postal Service Plan that could restrict mail-in voting for the midterm election. As NPR's Hanselow Wong reports, a ruling may come as soon as this Wednesday. This is the third emergency request the trouble administration has made at the Supreme Court for the President's attempt to limit mail-in voting. This time, the Supreme Court is set to weigh in on the legality of the U.S. Postal Service's plan. Under that plan, U.S.

2:05PS would refuse to deliver mail-in ballots to voters in states where election officials do not turn over voter lists to the mailing agency and do not have certain barcodes in their ballot envelopes. We should note, U.S. PS is a financial supporter of NPR. A federal judge in Boston has blocked those requirements twice. After finding that U.S. PS has no authority to impose them on states, any whistleblower report claims the Postal Service's systems, when forcing those requirements, have not been properly tested and could derail mail-in voting for the midterm general election, which is just getting started in North Carolina. Forecastry to say the category three storm could bring as much as 14 inches of rain to some areas. As Nina Rau reports, emergency officials are coordinating their response, even as the eruption of the volcano continues. The volcano has been firing thick ash into the atmosphere since late Friday, while no casualties have been reported. The ash is blanketing the capital, Jairatah, and neighboring provinces. Head of Indonesia's Disaster Management Agency, Chohar Yandou, says they are deploying aircraft to clear the air. Authorities are carrying out whether modification operations, he says. If there is no cloud growth, they'll use a water misting method to break down dangerous ash particles.
