President Trump and the First Lady were evacuated from the Washington Hilton last night after gunshots were fired at the White House correspondent's dinner. A short term later at the White House, the president urged unity, noting that the dinner had drawn a rare mix of political voices under one roof. But in light of this evening's events, I asked that all Americans recommit with their hearts and resolving our difference peacefully. We have to resolve our differences. I will say you had Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Conservatives, Liberals and Progressives. Those words are interchangeable perhaps, but maybe they're not. But yet everybody in that room, record-setting crowd, there was a record-setting group of people. Authorities say a suspect approached a security checkpoint at the hotel and opened fire at Secret Service Agents before being taken into custody.

1:01Jenny Abamu from member station W.A.M.U. reports one agent was shot by the gunman. A Secret Service uniformed division officer was struck in his vest. He was transported to the hospital and officials say he appears to be in good spirits. Here's Secret Service Director Sean Kern. Very fortunate that this officer is alive, is being observed, and I'm grateful that the president reached out to this officer and spoke with him earlier. Investigators say at this point that such a detour appears to have acted alone, he appears to have been a guest at the hotel, and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is continuing. That's Jenny Abamu from member station W.A.M.U. reporting. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Piro says the suspect is facing multiple federal charges in connection with the shooting. She says they're expected to include weapons related offenses tied to the attack. The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court on Monday. outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán says he'll resign his seat in parliament

2:04after losing the election this month. Terry Schultz reports Orbán says he'll work on rebuilding his political base after the landslide defeat. When the newly elected Hungarian parliament convenes May 9th, it will be the first time since 1990 that Viktor Orbán does not take a seat. I am not now needed in parliament, Orbán said in a social media post, but in the reorganization of the patriotic movement. In a vote held two weeks ago, his fetish party dropped from 135 seats to 52. Challenger Peter Magiar, the likely next Prime Minister, won more than two-thirds of seats with his new center-right teaser party. He vows to attack corruption adhere to the rule of law and bring Hungary back to a good relationship with the European Union. For NPR News, I'm Terry Schultz and Brussels. 3:06person to officially run a marathon in under two hours. Salway's time of one hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds beats the previous record by more than a minute. The famous Rocky Balboa statue in Philadelphia is moving indoors to be featured in a new exhibit. The city's Museum of Art is launching rising up, Rocky and the Making of Monuments. NPR's a lot of wise reports the exhibit comes ahead of the 50th anniversary of the original movies released this fall. The statue is instantly recognizable, a bronze Rocky Balboa, portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, raising his hands above his head and a show of triumph despite the odds. The fictional heavyweight champion has become one of Philadelphia's most famed figures, and his statue standing atop the museum steps is a sacred pilgrimage for fans. But in the 40 years since it was first unveiled, this is the first time it's been brought inside the museum.

4:06The Rocky exhibition will feature over 150 pieces of art for more than 50 artists. The museum described the statue as part of the city's quote, civic and cultural identity. The exhibition will run through August 2nd, Alana Wise, NPR News. Two wildfires in southeastern Georgia are continuing to threaten homes as strong winds raise concerns the flames could spread.
