NPR's Frank Ordonia's reports Trump plans to play a role in accepting the next leader in Iran. President Trump has predicted fighting will continue for the next four to five weeks. He's repeatedly said that Iran has wanted to reach a deal, but this morning he wrote on social media that he'll accept no deal except, quote, unconditional surrender. He continued that after an acceptable leader is chosen, the US will work with partners to bring Iran back in, rebuild its economy. He closed by writing, Iran will have a great future. Make Iran great again, adding in parentheses, MIGA, clearly a play on MAGA. His supreme leader Ali Humaneh was killed in the initial air strikes in Toronto on Saturday. His replacement has yet to be chosen. Franco Ordonia's NPR News.

1:02The US economy lost jobs in February. The Labor Department says employers shed 92,000 jobs during the month. NPR Scott Horsley says the numbers are much weaker than expected. Job losses were widespread with factories, construction companies, and the federal government all shedding workers. Even health care, which has been a source of strength in the job market, lost jobs in February, partly as a result of a nurse's strike. Job gains for December and January were also revised downward with December now showing a net loss of jobs. The unemployment rate inched up last month of 4.4%. Policy makers had hoped the job market was stabilizing after anemic hiring in 2025, but the February's job loss suggest continued weakness, average wages for those who are working continue to climb with hourly wages up 3.8% in February from a year ago. 2:03months of public upheaval over immigration enforcement tactics. The DHS carried out. And Trump fired Secretary Christie Nome after lawmakers questioned her spending on ads that promoted her. He named Republican Senator Mark Wain Mullin as a replacement. Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, where Minneapolis became a flashpoint of the nationwide clashes over immigration enforcement, told NPR how she plans to vote at Mullin's confirmation hearing. I do not plan vote for him because of the present policies and things that Mark Wain Mullin has said about police ICE agents in my state. On the other hand, at this point, anything is an improvement. He's someone that has worked with other members of the Senate, he's someone who has run a business. That Senator Klobuchar speaking with NPR. 3:12The Civil Rights leader and two-time presidential candidate was 84 when he died. Former president Sparako Bama Joe Biden-Bill Clinton are scheduled to speak at the service at the House of Hope, a mega-church on Chicago's south side. Former Vice President Kamala Harris will also speak. The service will also feature performances by Chicago native Jennifer Hudson. New studies suggest certain drugs for diabetes and weight loss can lower the risk of addiction. NPR's John Hamilton reports on the research in the medical journal BMJ. The study looked at data on more than 600,000 people with type 2 diabetes, all were in the VA health system. Dr. Ziad Ali of Washington University in St. Louis says those treated with GLP1 drugs like ozampic were less likely to be diagnosed with substance use disorder. They had less risk across several addictive substances, including opioids, cocaine, nicotine, alcohol, cannabis, and other substances.

4:15For most of these substances, the risk was about 15-20% lower. The study also found that people with a history of addiction were less likely to overdose or require emergency treatment.
