Nottinghamshire Council: Travel Expenses Sparks Debate

Their 41 counselors spend just 7,289 pounds in the 2025-2026 financial year. That's way down from the previous conservative run year, when 39,223 pounds went to fewer counselors. Fast forward to this year, and the now minority conservative group of 18 members claimed 11,889 pounds about. 4,600 more than reform, despite having fewer people. Reform's finance cabinet members Stewart Matthews calls it proof of their push for reasonable, proportionate spending and cutting waste the reform way. Conservatives are firing back hard. Group leader Sam Smith says the numbers lack context and are misleading.
