Nottingham Man's Chilling Stalking and Child Abuse

0:00On March 4, a 32-year-old man from Nottingham stalked a schoolboy he did not know for several months last year. Starting in February, Shane York followed the boy home from school repeatedly, snapped photos of him, and kept detailed logs of every encounter on his phone. The obsession grew more alarming when York learned the family planned to move. He tried booking viewings of their house and even sent fake letters to the estate agents, pretending to be the homeowners and demanding they cancel. The sale and stop all contact. The family grew suspicious after questioning the agents about the bizarre letters, which led police straight to York. They soon learned he had also unsuccessfully applied for a job at the boy school, causing real fear and distress for everyone involved. Detectives searching his home uncovered even darker secrets, including indecent photos he had taken of other children, evidence of him sexually, assaulting a young child twice in 2023 and 2024, and over 1700 indecent images and videos on his devices.

1:02York pleaded guilty to 10 charges, including stalking and child sexual assaults. On March 2 and Nottingham Crown Court, a judge deemed him dangerous and handed down a nine-year extended sentence with six years in custody, followed by three years unlicensed, plus lifelong restraining and prevention orders to protect potential victims.
