3:06Welcome to Not So Fast. I'm Andrew Perlough. He's Paul Paz. Paul, we got game number two in the books, which I think of football down under. You know, it was so sunny, that game I think I kicked off at 10, 30 in the morning, Melbourne time, the uniforms popped, it looked so awesome, the field on Netflix, the uniforms really, really popped. Is it that sunny there? I guess so, Dan Patrick said he was down there, and sunscreen is a major issue in Australia, apparently. Okay, if I asked you right before kickoff, the game's going to finish 27 and 7, you'd said what? I would have said, wow, what a game for Miles Garrett. Look at that Rams, defense, story of the year. But what happened? Like, how would you describe this game for those who? Okay, so it started out pretty even, and then at a certain point, the Rams gave up, and I know Paul, I'm up. Yeah, at a certain point, you said enough travel talk, but to me, that is actually the story of the game. The Rams did not look ready to play. They came to Australia too late. It did feel like there's a point in the third quarter, or Matthew Stafford goes for a quarterback sneak at the goal line, which they don't do that a lot. I think he's had one QB sneak touchdown,

4:09and his Rams career. They didn't make it. The review couldn't tell anything. It was just a big pile, and then the 49ers won on a 99 yard touchdown run drive, and it felt like the Rams said, okay, it's time to start heading back home. Yes, it was almost a touchdown. Right, I kind of thought that was a touchdown. Yeah, I'm not sure how well, I guess the ball was, nah, that looks like a touchdown. Right. But when Stafford doesn't get in here, the air went out of their balloon. Yeah, it's funny because I actually think it probably was a touchdown, they just couldn't prove it. So whatever they caught on the field was going to stick. Actually, I could see a little thought bubble off of Matthew Stafford. After that play came back and said, well, I'm going to order the chicken on the plane back, and I'm going to watch Project Hail Mary. It's going to be really fun. Yeah. They checked out completely. And normally, I would rip a team, if I thought they gave up, but go to Australia hat. I think a big toll on this Rams team. They're not young. Again, it's a cliche to talk about the travel science, but the Niders had it right, and the Rams had it wrong. You know, it's weird though, because if somehow the Rams did win this, is there a reason to worry about the Rams? I don't worry after week one, and I think Vegas still has

5:13them as a favorite. So you don't worry. I think you might worry about Miles Garrett, was he not in shape or is he injured in some fashion? That would be a concern. That's a concern. That's a concern. But the general offense doesn't concern me because Puka's Puka, they're running back tandem is really good. But let's go to the other side of this, the 49ers. We've been sleeping a little bit on the 49ers because of their struggles with health and things in the off season. Previous seasons. I think I've been sleeping on the 49ers. I had no idea that Fred Warner was going to be Fred Warner and Nick Boeson was going to be explosive. Kendall wasn't quite as good as the other guy. He was present. But he was present. Debo Samuel looked thin and ready to go. It was the fountain of youth. CMC looked great. And then Christian McCaffey had some help in the backfield. And was it everything worked perfectly for the 49ers? And the 49ers. You mentioned Nick Boeson. People don't talk about him as much as they used to when he was defensive player of the year. He was all over staff for the entire game. And then if you look at what they did on offense, they split carries. Kalen Black, the rookie out of Indiana. He had as many touches as Christian McCaffey. And that's

6:14one of those things that maybe that's smart for the future. Let's balance these guys out. Keep McCaffey healthy in January, February. Yeah. And quarterback Bernie LeCoude was running around. You know, to me, the MVP of the game, and we're going to give out stickers later. We're saving stickers. OK. Well, I'll just say Kyle Shanahan outcoached the Rams pretty decisively here. You can see on the Niners opening drive, they went 15 plays, kept the ball away from Matthew Stafford and the Rams, rhythm went to the Niners, brilliant plan. I think Shanahan has had months to think about this game. And he was ready to go. OK, but if you're a 49ers fan, do you feel great today? You feel long term great or short term great? You feel great. Yes, there's always the injury risk. You have a lot of players over 30, but you don't think about that at all today. You get the kickback, watch football this weekend, and you're one and no. And the other thing is when you're watching the running backs from the Niners just chop through the line, you're thinking, Aaron Donnell is at home right now, sitting there watching this game. Yeah. And he could be stuffing this whole thing up. Absolutely. If you are a Niners fan, also you have the Cardinals and the dolphins coming up. OK. So probably three and a half and probably come out of that healthy. And remember, they were

7:19just in the Super Bowl a few years ago. Maybe this is Shanahan's chance to finally get the Super Bowl. Last thing I love about Brock Purdy, three touchdowns for Brock Purdy, really great second half. He likes to run the ball. He's got a little giddy up as they like to say in college football, but he never, almost never, I would say not never, but this time of year in September, he doesn't take on contact. No, he gets out of bounds and he slides. He looked really spry. They've been talking about him in camp all summer, how he, this was his best training camp. He's had a long time and he completely delivered. And Matthew Stafford, he doesn't run. He barely walks. Oh my gosh. That, to me, that actually, and let's say I've just had the Ramsey for a second, Stafford struggles really shocked me. But that's a short-term long-term concern. Well, I mean, still, he's been hell under 10 points twice in 85 starts. He looked hurried. He looked inaccurate. He either overthrew guys or under threw them. The interception was concerning. You know what? He's getting older. I saw the age last night, Paul. No shocker. He was on a plane for 18 hours. You know, put an old guy on a plane like that. Paul, you know that. Yeah. My grandpa told me, don't put an old guy on a plane to Melbourne to play football. We

8:23always know that our, let's get to some NSF helmet stickers. We put the sticker on the helmet. The player chooses whether they're wearing it next week or not. I'm going to go first, Pearl off and I'm going to go office to tackle Trent Williams. Trent Williams, yesterday, I would say eight up Miles Garrett, but he made Miles Garrett irrelevant for a game and that doesn't happen very often. Miles Garrett always gets one or two or three hits on a quarterback at the very minimum. But Trent Williams reminded everybody that on the best offensive lineman in the game and the best past blocker in the past 15 years and even Miles Garrett can't get by me. So he gets my helmet sticker. Yeah, it's like he's not aging, but I'm going to not so fast. Because listen, I don't know. How's that possible? He's trying to really just got all this love last night. Guess who helped him a lot? Two men, rock, party and Kyle Shanahan. Purdy got rid of the ball immediately every time. Are you saying it's system blocker? It was totally, he wasn't holding on the ball. He had to block Bosa or whoever for I mean, sorry, I had to block Miles Garrett for one second. He's purdy got rid of the ball so fast and that was all Shanahan. Shanahan neutralized Miles Garrett on his own. Now Garrett was still moving pretty fast. I know there's concerns about his health, but he finally got to purdy and

9:27purdy and already got rid of the ball every time. Who's your helmet sticker for? That's got to be Kyle Shanahan. You know, listen, Sean McVase on 60 minutes this weekend, he's getting all the hype. Really? He's kind of considered the best coach in football. I think Kyle Shanahan said not so fast. That hat is very becoming, but yeah, by the way, you couldn't see the injury from the car crash this summer. I thought Kyle Shanahan had his team ready to play. He won the battle of which is the approach to international travel. His game plan was brilliant. You did not know it was coming. A lot of short passes to keep the Rams off balance. I'm a huge Kyle Shanahan play caller fan. Can you win the big game? That's the TBD, but in a game like this, you saw his brilliance at work. Can I give a bonus helmet sticker to Netflix's new analyst, Luke Keekley? Big stage, he worked his way out and he had some really good stories, some really good fun stuff. He had a story about Trent Williams. Luke Keekley said, when I was a rookie, I went up against Trent Williams and he pushed me into the sidelines like I was a small child. And I thought he was Luke Keekley at a nice night. I'm going to give him a bonus helmet sticker. Yeah, Keekley was great. The whole Netflix thing, did you use watch Jonas Brothers at halftime? Of course, I'm.

10:28That's an insult to ask me. Yeah, it was a good job. I'm so glad football's back. All right, some bad news though. AJ Brown, the wide receiver, the new wide receiver, the Patriots. He has a high ankle sprain, which is never good. I don't know why it's worse than low ankle sprain. But here's the thing, out four weeks. And when you're on one and the Patriots have Steelers, Jaguars, Bills, or the next three weeks, that could be a problem math wise. Now, they still have a good team, very good defense. Drake Bay is there. But if you somehow go one in three or God for a bid, oh and four, you could be in that position where you're just underwater, treading water, the rest of the season. Right. And you got to think about Drake Bay's confidence. Obviously, the opener was not good for him. There's this narrative out there that Drake Bay got great numbers last year, because he was playing a lot of bad games. Right. And now, this year, the schedule's much harder. He needs an AJ Brown for security. Right. If you want to lose AJ Brown, can we lose him for the Raiders Jets series? Not the next three games Steelers, Jaguars, Bills. If you looked at the game on Wednesday night, you could see the difference between AJ Brown running routes and other guys running routes. Here's where they are right now. Romeo Dobbs, who was tough for

11:32the other night. De Maero Douglas, Mac Hollens is really stepping up. That's a guy who's probably going to catch get a lot of things. Remember a month ago, they let Keishan Boudigo in that trade. Yeah. He's got some old field issues to the Texans. Yeah. That's a guy not so fast, man. Well, Mac Hollens has been around for a while. I love Mac Hollens. You know, he doesn't wear shoes when he's not on the field. I'm walking around barefoot. I'm a spectacular person. But he can't be your go-to guy, Paul. You know what? He said, four weeks. Let's hope it's four weeks. The three week go-to guy. All right. Real quick, the NFL weekend, Bills Texans. We're going to chop that up later. Packers, Vikings, Kyle Murray, saucy. That is so interesting. Kyle Murray, that to me, might be the most interesting quarterback situation, but you really don't know. Yep. We got Buckeneers Bengals, Ravens Colts, Falcon Steelers, and we don't know about Tua and who's starting there. Oh, if it's not Tua and it's Cooper Rush for the Falcons, that's going to be an ugly game. I look to you. Let's play ugly games. 12:32Sun and I football, NBC, saucy. I think it's saucy. Do you think people are going to watch this game? Yeah, I think everyone's going to watch this game. I think you're going to have more people watching this game than really any sporting event that's not the NFL. This is a big test. Little cozy stuff to get you into the weekend. I'm going to go first on the warm takes. Here we go, Pro. Look at the college football ratings from this weekend. Notre Dame versus Wisconsin with a monster rating and Wisconsin's not even that good. Louisville Ole Miss was a great rating. All these kind of created matchups were fantastic ratings for college football. I wonder if as we

18:52get to a 2014 playoff which seems inevitable? Do the instead of the regular season being more, got to schedule cupcakes because that could make it into playoffs? Do these college football teams think why don't we schedule heavyweights for off-season or out of conference games? And this can work for you. Look at Ohio State versus Texas this weekend. The loser of this game doesn't lose a thing with the college football committee. You get credit for playing in a heavyweight game early in the season. You lose by four points. Texas or Ohio State, you're just fine. Now, if you're Michigan and you lose which they did to Western Michigan, that is debilitating. That takes you out of the top 25. So I'm wondering if this has a reverse effect to 2014 playoff. That I'm going to schedule bigger. I'm going to schedule heavyweights. I'm going to, you know, Notre Dame and USC will get back together. Michigan Notre Dame get back together. Texas at Texas A&M every year. I think that's what's going to happen going forward because there's more money to be made. Neutral site, home games. If Texas faces Texas State, people leave. They don't stay. They don't spend money. But if Texas has Texas A&M in week two, you got something.

19:53I could not disagree with you more. Oh, come on. You're telling me if Texas didn't lose to Ohio State last year, 14, seven, or opening week, they wouldn't have been in the play. If three losses, they would have made the playoff last year. I think you're just, I know what you're saying. You got to play it safe. Notre Dame last year, if they didn't have Miami and A&M early in the schedule and had Ball State and Youngstown State, they would have been in the play. But you still get credit for that heavyweight game early. You lose to Florida later in the season. I can't help you. I don't think the committee gives you enough credit. I don't think they pay enough attention to strike the schedule. I am anti that. I think that they should really weigh wins more than losses. And if you have three losses, they immediately kick you out. You poop poop. I warm take quick. Yeah, I know you're saying, but that's, I think that's a wishful warm take because if you were the it's a bit commissioner of college football, you would have really hard schedules to start the season. And I'm available. You know, if they expand the 24, then maybe we'll get that. Okay, I'm sticking with college football. There's a few rules here, not so fast. Number one, obviously ball don't lie karma. That means Michigan is going to lose this weekend because the universe wants

20:58them to. It's not just that they got the extra second to beat Western Michigan. It's at their fans rush the field. The University of Michigan fans rush the field against Western Michigan. I think that things need to be corrected in a universal sense here. And I think that somebody has to make Michigan pay for these two, in my opinion, transgressions transgressions. Oklahoma, who they play this weekend has built a really good team under our buddy, general manager, Jim Nagy. They obviously have John Matier's healthy ready to go. Paul, they have a tight end, a backup tight end whose name is Rocky Beers. Sort of touched down last week out of all out of state. I mean, that's reason enough to root for them. If your last name is Beers, you never, ever change it. That's why, you know, it's in Ann Arbor, so it makes me a little nervous. But I do think that Michigan is going to have trouble emotionally rebounding from last week. This is a really serious game. It's the quarterback Bryce underwater Michigan. He has to both win and play well. There's he's got to do both of those. Yeah. I think Oklahoma is underrated for some reason they're under the radar, but they have a really,

21:58really strong rock. John Matier, healthy, the quarterback. Oklahoma, he wants to make a statement. All right. I'm going to go to my next warm take. I do love when we play, when I say we, American football plays in other countries. Now, they've been playing in Europe for a while, even South America for a while, but this is new to Australia. I think of the 60,000 people there. Somebody in Australia is watching American football the first time ever. And I wonder what they think when they see American football. We're used to it. But when they see it and they see a bunch of big dudes running around really hard for four to six seconds and then they go and have a meeting for 45 seconds. And then they run around for four to five seconds and then oh, another meeting. Because that's what it is. It's explosive plays and then let's talk about it. Explosive play. You know, if you grow up on rugby or soccer, which I didn't, I used to look at soccer. I think, what are they doing? I don't understand off sides. I don't understand rugby at all when I was a kid. Imagine what your hands and Australia is. They think of American football and all our rules. Surviving the ground, inner out. What is a fair catch? Why if you raise, so I'm asking permission,

22:58not to get hit, is that one my hands in the air? So I imagine if you're on Australia yesterday and you enjoyed American football for the first time, it will be back because we want to grow it nationally, internationally. But at some point you're thinking you're looking at your buddy like they're having another meeting. Why all these meetings? Even I don't know the kickoff rules. I watch 14 hours of football a week and how about that offside on the Tush push that was kind of made up on Wednesday night. Explain that like what's going on here. All the rules are so convoluted and they change 10 rules every offseason. And one of the reps, there was a field goal by I think the 49ers, one of the reps to the old Australian rules football. One of those. Instead of doing that, that was kind of cool. That was very cool. Okay, that is a good one. I'm going to go to the NFL for my next warm take. 13 games this weekend. I'm fired up about all of them, but there's one storyline I really want to see Paul and that's a Dallas Cowboys defense. Cowboys got a lot of buzz this preseason and everyone thinks their defense will be better than last year. New coordinator Christian Parker. It better be. I'll tell you that right now. And we'll see against the Giants because the Giants are going to

23:58play conservative football. They're going to try and run it down the throat of Dallas. Now Dallas in the past is been very weak against the run. Now they have Quinn and Williams and Kenny Clark up front. We're basically going to see Paul. Didn't the Micah Parsons trade work out on Sunday? Because Jerry Jones is saying that we can stop the run now. We used to not be able to do that. And we know the offense is going to be good. So, Cabes, Gattaboo, Jackson Darden, going to be running a lot against Dallas. Do they hold up? I think if the Cowboys defense is legit, then that is one of the key storylines of the early season because the whole team is going to be good. And you picked the Cowboys to go deep this year in the playoffs. Well, I haven't been winning division. Now, postseason Cowboys is always an adventure fall. You know, they used to go 12 and 5 every year. They get blown out of the playoffs. So I don't know about the playoffs. It's going to be interesting because the Micah Parsons trade will be talked about forever. As long as he's injured not playing for the Packers, they win. The Cowboys win because their players are playing. But it's got a long way to go. I think people are maybe not so fast with this defense. They think it's going to be fantastic day one. Yeah, not be. I kind of like that when people say he just got to get into the tournament for football. But I get half point for right division, Paul. You get half a point. You know CDLAM, by the way, there's a guy who needs playoff success to add to his resume because he's as good as anybody. One more who said it, Pearl, off NFL, college or other. Here we go. 27:01We got our behinds kick, you know, like the last time and we played and like sometime in the football world like that happens, right? So when you get your behind kick, you don't forget it. And it wasn't end or break us. But it was definitely a nice wake up call. That's Deanne Dawkins of the bills. Talk about the Texans and not swearing. Very professional of him. You know, as a guy who's got behind kicked a lot in grades, but the local bullies, I don't ever forget. Yeah, but you don't really have the size or the talent of Deanne Dawkins. That is really, really a little different. All right, stick around. We're going to talk to Conor Rogers, the NBC sports to get you ready for the college and pro weekend and much, much more. I was with Dan Patrick at the S.I. students in New York City and the offices and we were talking to different editors about editing dance page. And the first guy came in, said, get him in and they were normal, nice guys.

28:01And Andrew came in kind of like Kramer, just like papers and then like one shirt thing was out, but he was funny and he had ideas and he was goofy, but he had ideas and they were funny ideas. And then we met two more people and when we got done, Dan and I think we took a train home for God's sake and he goes, which guy do you like? I'm like, you know, the tall guy. And we didn't remember any of his name. He was the guy who looked like McLeven from Superbad. I'm like, well, he's a little older than that. McLeven's uncle because yeah, that guy. So we call back and say like, we like that guy and like Andrew Pearl off. I'm like, yeah, I think that's his name, but he stuck out in a good way. Bunk of back, not so fast, Pearl off and perhaps. All right, last week in college football, nuts. What do you expect this weekend, Paul? Beyond nuts. I don't even know how to categorize what happened. Western Michigan, Michigan, all the different games. You got Michigan, Oklahoma this weekend. You got OSU Texas this weekend. Rice Notre Dame, Bama Kentucky, ISU, Iowa. That's just the headliners. Yeah, no, it's going to be a great college football weekend and a great

29:03pro football weekend. And if you want to talk college and pro, there's no one better than Conor Rogers, NBC sports, of course, a co-host of Chris Sims on button every day, 4 p.m. Eastern, part of the pregame show for college football. Conor, how you doing? I'm great, guys. Thanks for having me. How are you? Awesome, dude. First of all, I know how busy you are trying to control Sims. We've been there before. It's a hard job. Let's start with college football. Game of the Weekend, Texas, Ohio State. You also do a lot of NFL draft stuff. It feels like this is a mini-combine in September because there are so many talented players. How do you see this game played out? I mean, it's ridiculous, right? If you're in the middle covering the draft, it's a dream scenario because you get the best of both worlds. I mean, just looking at my preseason top 50, Jeremiah Smith was my number one player, the great wide receiver for Ohio State. I had a ton of Texas players in the top 10 between their past Russia, Colin Simmons, of course, Arch Manning. They got a superstar wide receiver in Cam Coleman as a transfer of this off season. So it's not

30:03only loaded with NFL prospects. It's loaded with legitimately blue chippers on both sides of the ball that it's going to be fascinating because these teams match up really, really evenly. You kind of try to lean on the side of the home team in that scenario as much as that has knock on well for Texas against Ohio State. Wouldn't shock me, obviously, no matter the outcome of this game. Both of these teams end up going really, really far at the end of the year. This is a big moment for Arch. I know that's cliche and everybody almost spends too much time focusing on Arch. I think there's this kind of myth that he's broken away from the rest of the quarterback class when I see them as one large group as much as I do like him the best out of all of these guys. But it's also a chance for Julian Sain who in theory could be a part of that quarterback class to kind of show like, hey, don't forget about me. I'm a legitimate NFL prospect. But this could be a statement game from Arch who has new weapons. He does have a good offensive line in front of him. They've done work in the portal with their run game as well. I just expect as great as the Ohio State defense typically is Texas's offense to really have the chance to make a statement and actually come through with it.

31:05I want to go back to Jeremiah Smith, the wider receiver of Ohio State. You've seen a lot of wider receivers your time. Does he comp out better or rate better than Marvin Harrison Jr coming out of college? I think better, which is dangerous, right? Like you say those things and people are how they talk about Marv now. I think it's going to have a good year in Arizona and really settle in, especially with Michael LaFlore there who will know how to deploy a number one wider receiver on the outside in his scheme. I think that they forget what Marv really was in Ohio State. Now with Jeremiah Smith, I mean, he's got even more muscle on his frame to power through coverage. He can fly his strides, just eat up so much turf. It's really hard to match up with him. He could be a really good player in the NFL tomorrow. He just has to play this season of college football. He's really, really unique. I'm going to have a tough time when we get close to the draft, kind of differentiating or maybe it won't be that hard. The best receiver prospect I've ever scouted while doing this was Jamar Chase. But there's a world where you just look at the physical gifts being bigger and playing even stronger. Jeremiah Smith is the best wide receiver prospect that I'll end up seeing.

32:10There's people that have been doing it long enough where I can't go back to this, but they'll bring up Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson. This is really, really rare air. You know, it's funny, Connor. He might not even be the best Heisman wide receiver candidate in college football. What do you make? Malik, I Tony and Miami, I don't know about his NFL future bud in college. I'm not sure there's a better player. Just electric, right? You really blinking. He could one bad angle and he's gone. I know people were excited about what they saw from Darian Mensa. They're transfer quarterbacking that game, but I'm sitting there looking at what, you know, obviously what Tony can do. And you know, when people get to dangerous player comparisons, there will be people that will be like, is this tiring kill again when you just look at the game changing speed? I'm not ready to go there. And the perfect part is we have a lot of time left with him at the college level to do that. But guys like that that just move in that kind of way that you clearly can't match up with, but you give any kind of space and zone. They're a real problem. And there's an argument this Miami team is somehow better than last year's Miami team.

33:10I want to go to Michigan at Oklahoma. I think they're getting five and a half Michigan. It feels like Michigan's coming up a loss. It's almost like a perception loss for Michigan, not an actual loss, but Bryce Underwood, their quarterback who's making millions of dollars to be their quarterback. I wouldn't say it's a must win game for him, but is it a must play well game for him? Definitely. I mean, you heard Wingham, whether it was after the game or the day after the game, kind of saying like, hey, it's not infinite here with him. So nothing is guaranteed to him no matter how much you were paid, especially when besides the second Hail Mary, you know, how well, how poorly he played. And I think what's more concerning for Michigan is that I thought they were largely outclassed for almost the whole game for much of it. I feel like they were outcoached, outplayed. They didn't feel like the physically imposing team. For Oklahoma, I'll say this on the other side, you're walking into a situation. You're playing a team in Oklahoma that this is a must win for Oklahoma because of how hard their schedule is. They got to be looking at this and going more better than Michigan, especially with what Michigan just showed last week. We're going to go in there and take care of business and then look towards the rest of our schedule, which can get

34:11much, much harder. So Michigan, this is the same story with them, but now it's magnified because not only the money that Bryce is making, but you're expected to take steps forward. If you have no consistent passing game in college football, forget being put in the class of the big dogs. It's hard to rank them in the top 25 after that. Connor, what do you want to see out of Notre Dame, playing Rice, NBC? You know, obviously they should win. Last week, they started off slow against Wisconsin, picked it up. A lot of easy games on the early part of the schedule. But still, I think it's championship or bust for many people's eyes. So what do you want to see in the game like this on Saturday? Quite simply rhythm and timing in the past game. I thought CJ Carr, who I like a lot. He just looked a little jittery in the first half and then didn't really have to do a whole ton. That's a team that they have an NFL secondary. And now they're safety, Tay Johnson, who could be a top 50 pick has heard again. But Leonard Moore, there's an argument he's going to be the best defensive player in the draft. And as every bit, you know, good as a corner prospect as we've seen the last 10 years, but that offense, they did such a good job protecting CJ Carr last year.

35:14And he was phenomenal when protected. The very small sample size, which was, I think less than 100 snaps. He was pressured on last year. There was some questions. And that's not surprising for a young quarterback. And this year, a red shirt, sophomore quarterback that, you know, he can really attack all three levels of the field with timing, touch and accuracy. I just want to see that against an opponent like Rice and get your offense a little rhythm and some of the movement they've had on the offensive line. Let those guys gel together because they had, you know, it's said that a lot about Notre Dame. They had some tough moments on the offensive line in past pro last week. All right. Let me ask you a kind of a two-part question, which is more likely to happen towards the end of the season. Davos, Sweeney is out of a job or Lane Kippin is in the national title game with LSU. Oh, man. I'll go back to Davos. I just, it just feels like it's time. It does. And, you know, obviously, there's a lot of good things to feel about with Lane and LSU. And a team that was built in the portal and did a really good job and how he gets them ready to play and, you know, how buttoned up and gifted they are on offense under him no matter where he goes.

36:14But you look at Davos. My problem with Clemson guys is everybody kind of falls back on rightly so. Have they fallen behind? Have had to build a roster in college football because of how they don't compete in the portal the same way that, you know, you look at, you know, look at Indiana winning the national championship last year. That's the easiest example. But it's a lot of teams. I don't think Clemson is a well-coached team anymore. Obviously, the change at coordinators over the years, but you watch them play whether it's schematically how they build their team. They have NFL town. We do the guys like me that do the giraffe do this every summer. Oh, all this NFL town in the front seven for Clemson. And then, you know, you get boat race. And it's like, how is this happening? Because I know this is a good player. Connor, I know your phone ring there. Was that Davos bringing you up? Could you criticize him like you did that report on the other day? Yeah, that was actually my very delayed alarm for your guys show. So you could tell I organized I am right now really poor form for me. Not a good day, but that's great. Connor, you also cover the jets speaking mistakes. Looks like a tank from the outside. Did you bid around the building? What do you expect from the

37:16jets this year? They're in such a weird place. I always find it and I've been around the jets long enough to kind of see this before. You have a coach that has to win. You have an organization that still doesn't have a quarterback. So you're kind of in a spot where, okay, can you win enough games that you save your job? But if you win enough games, but not enough to save your job, but also too many out of an interesting draft slot. Now they have three first rounders, which gives them kind of that flexibility, hopefully to move and capitalize on what should be a deeper quarterback class. They're just in a very weird place, guys. They added a lot of veterans in the offseason. They are a very young roster from all the picks they've had. They look to me kind of like the classic case of a six win team that can beat up on the basement teams and the jets have been a basement team lately. That usually they lose to those teams. So that's a step forward. But if you're looking at Aaron Glenn, a step forward is not good enough. We need to probably take one, two, three, four steps forward or a giant leap where the jets, they're going to be really, really interesting because of all the assets they've accumulated. The roster is in a better place, but they still have giant questions at the two

38:19most important things in the NFL. And that's quarterback in the head coach. Conor, that is the two tough jobs helping Chris Sims every day and covering the jets in that order. Yeah, I don't know if I was the show for it guys. I lose the local Emmys every single year. Yeah, you know, like it's just yeah, I'm just glad you guys appreciate this. Yeah, yeah. Well, join us. I don't remember. I first met him when he was playing and I remember meeting him and spending

45:42time with him at the Children's Miracle Network and my wife and family we would spend a week helping Marie Osmond and Steve Young, John Schneider from the dukes of Hazard. So they would do raise money for Children's Miracle Network and the more I was around him I just I clicked with him. I don't know what it was but I think he's the best NFL analyst and he's not working because he used to work at the mothership but I find him to be self-deprecating very smart and he's got the resume as well and I think when you put all of that together you know it just metastasized you know how great he can be as an analyst and he's so much fun. Sometimes I forget that we're on radio or TV. Which is the best? Yes. But he's just a lot of fun. He's a good good person. I tell this story about you were standing next to him in the Pittsburgh Arizona Super Bowl. I think you told on air that he was doing like a play-by-play

46:43with you. What was what was that conversation? Because I've actually told this story many times but I want to make sure I have a right. Well I'm going to hand out the trophy. Okay. And I think it's going to be Arizona. They just scored Larry Fitzgerald scores. I'm on the sidelines and I've figured let me start where the Steelers are starting. They're two-minute drill. And Steve Young happened to be there on the sidelines and he was like hey what are you doing? I said well I'm going to hand out the trophy. He goes all right let's watch this drive. And he was giving me his analysis of Ben Rothlesberger in real time. And he you know was saying how incredible Ben was on that drive. I didn't even talk to him when he threw the touchdown pass. I knew I had to get in position to hand up the Super Bowl trophy. But it's one of the best times highlights of my career watching a Hall of Famer with a Hall of Famer with the Super Bowl on the line. You had a private broadcast. I only wish I could have had him mic'd up and you could have heard him because he was

47:48saying this is what I would do. You know what's open? Boy oh man that's a great play. And it was in real time that he was giving me one of the great drives in Super Bowl his. So when you have Steve Young on the show and he's coming on regularly your job. A guy like him is an expert on quarterback play and offense. And he has more stories than he knows what he has in his head. What's your role? What's your job? I don't know where I'm going with. He's one of the few that I don't have a pre-plan that I got it. There's certain things I want to ask him about Trent Williams. He said might be the best left tackle of all time. The travel part of this he didn't understand the Rams logic. So I get to those things then you just kind of go. But I always tell people being a good interviewer means being a good listener. And Steve will always give you something whether he means to or not and then you follow up on that. And that's the fun part because I think he likes the fact that they're not your prototypical questions. And he gets to breathe. Yes. And they have all these analysts when they come on. If you're

48:52on the mothership you might get 15 seconds here, 20 seconds here. I'm giving you 15 minutes. Like Lewis Riddick love having him on because he wants to talk football. And to be able to have that platform I think is welcoming for a lot of these analysts. Do you have to be a quarterback to analyze certain things to analyze a quarterback? You've actually seen you work with current players and former players. Is it really the start with QBs? As far as. As far as being able to analyze you know, Steve Young can see the whole game. Do you prefer former quarterbacks when you're talking about certain things with offense? Well, I think they're probably interviewed more than anybody else. I like talking to defensive backs too because they see the field from a different angle. And I think we don't get that perspective as often. It's the quarterback's perspective. Sometimes that defensive back, even linebacker, when Brian or Locker would be on. He gave me a whole different view of what he would say. Ray Lewis, same thing. And I think when you get that, all you want to do

49:57is say to your audience, we don't want to bore you with the regular stuff. We've thought about something or give you something. Even when we had the sleep doctor on, I didn't know what I was going to get, but she works for the Broncos and she's saying, I don't understand the logic behind the Rams. Well, that was before it happened instead of after. And she said the Niners will be more acclimated and thought that was going to be an advantage. And I think that that showed. Wait, how is it possible that Mike Evans since he all the headlines about the Rams travel plans? So you're looking at this completely wrong. Mike Evans is focused on football. That's what I learned. He's not watching sports centers, not watching that so fast. He would have known about the travel plan. Yeah. So yesterday we did ticks and I picked the Rams. If I had known Mike Evans was going to look like that, I would have taken the 49ers. He looks like he is going to be the cheat code for that offense. All right. We got a lot more to get to. But let's talk a little bit of Heisman trophy this week. I get the Heisman coming up long way to go. But let's get to getting the Heisman always on not so fast. There it is. Look at that guy. Well, it's Ohio State Texas. Everyone's a Heisman candidate. Is the winner of that game, the front runner? I think Menta jumped in the odds. But Arch wins. The narrative is going to be all about Arch. Ohio State wins. I guess it's going to be Jeremiah Smith based on the odds. It's weird that Jeremiah Smith is up there and Julian say in his quarterback is not that could flip flop as the season goes along. CJ Carr has raced this weekend. I don't know if that's going to help his case. Well, he's going to get some numbers. He'll get some numbers. But yeah, Malachite Tony last night against Fam. You, while you get numbers, you don't get a lot of credit for those. No, but they're going to have a lot more tests moving forward. I mean, you're right. You do have to in those early games, you want to throw six touchdowns that have no picks. And then at the end of the year, you have 45 touchdowns. It's going to be, you know, it's to be the big battle quarterback versus wide receiver. So you got Tony and Smith versus Archmaning and Dante Moore and all the other guys. They're sharing votes. Then you look at some other teams like Old Miss can

53:11chambles get back in the mix. Does LSU have a Heisman candidate this juncture? They don't. Wow. LSU gosh. I mean, it could be their quarterback. Sam Levin is very, very good. All right. CJ Stroud in that playoff game. He felt like he hurt his team. You know, you could have an off day, but you can't be the reason your team loses. CJ Stroud was just, it's like he played that game with Mittens on in the AFC. And I think if he plays CJ Stroud two years ago, football or even close to it with that defense, they should be just fine. Yeah. I mean, they're both good teams, but to say they're the winner, this is the favorite. To me, those teams in the West will be heard from, obviously, the Chiefs,

54:12Jargers and Broncos. So I like both these teams. I'm pretty sure they're going to be in the playoffs, especially with New England, maybe falling a little bit. But once again, until these teams do it in the playoffs, I don't really care what happens week one. It was an odds when the AFC and, you know, Bills, Ravens, Chiefs. Do you look at that? The Texans are down there. Yeah, that's a little farther down the list than I thought they'd be. Below the Bengals, wow. I wonder if the Texans may flip flop with the Patriots as of today. Wow, I'll tell you one thing. It's about the quarterback. If you look at that list, people just don't trust CJ Stroud. All right, it's time for Monday's lead today. 55:13Roddick on the men's side. And Shelton and Tiafo are incredible to root for. Obviously Ben Shelton's. He got Trinity Rodman cheering for him in this eye line. Yes, Tiafo. What's that? He has star power. Yeah. And foe, as I like to call him, foe is just incredibly entertaining. This would be a huge story. I know we're going to come off a football, but an American winning the US Open would be huge for the sport. And I think everybody really into it. I love you going against the grain off the board. They were your pickle a bit. I also worry sometimes. I think the men's title matches 2 p.m. on Sunday. I know. It's always buried. That is the thick of NFL. I know. And which hour is coming at the end of the 1 p.m. Eastern hour? My advice would be buy more TVs for your house. All right. My Monday's lead will be the Cowboys defense ruffs up the Giants. And the Cowboys defense does rub up the Giants. Let's say that game is 28 seven. The Cowboys are always a topic. And if they're really good, even more so, when they're really bad, much, much more so. But that defense, which a lot of people like Caleb Downs making his debut, the trade, all that goes with it.

And people are going to jump to Cowboys in the Super Bowl question mark, which will be way too soon. Oh, yeah. People are already there. Yeah. We have to hype this up. Let's get to a little constructive criticism week two of not so fast or best week, I think so far. Constructor criticism. Some people are saying like, damn Patrick, my shirt, I missed a button. We'll get to that. Yeah. From Dave Shoemaker, Paulie, it's a must and it has to be medals, trough, trough, like old stadium. Now that goes back to yesterday. We were saying a buddy of mine in Chicago is building a man cave and is going to build a urinal in his bathroom. And a lot of people on Twitter liked it. So yeah, it's like the metal trough. That's that they, well, no, I think he's going to take it one step further and do the metal trough. I got to tell you the ice in the metal trough would really feel when I first saw it. I probably never been more gross out of the sporting event. I am not pro trough. All right. Let's get one more. And this is all urinal related. We really hit

I was torn on this game. And then I heard Charles Davis on the day of Patrick's show today point out that Ohio States run like a pro team. I actually have been trying to convince myself in the Texas. I see Ohio State walking away with a close win. So we'll bet straight up I'm taking Texas. You take a Ohio State. I think this is if not now never for Texas. I think they it's a must win ish because

58:24otherwise you're going uphill with the Heisman race and the playoffs. Well, they can get back into the playoff. I mean, this is one game, but you're right. This feels really big for Sarra in Texas. All right. This game is saucy and for all the wrong reasons. You can't lose to a basketball school when you're a football school. That's one of the rules. Rule number 76 is play like a champion. Bama giving 10 to Kentucky. Now Alabama football last year. Good regular season. Not good in the playoffs. They cannot afford this loss. Where are you at here? Wait, which one's the basketball school now? Because we got to be honest. Alabama is a little better in Calendabore. Sorry. He's no Nick Saban. They might be more of the basketball. You could say whatever you want to an Alabama football family. If you tell them they're a basketball school, they may they may doaks up. Oh, in Kentucky, I think Kentucky is going to be salty. Keep this close. I love Will Stein their new head coach. I think they cover and even threaten to win. I don't know about the young quarterback at Alabama. Has it been tested? But I could be low scoring. Where do you want this one? I actually think the bills come out a team on a mission today because a lot of people have a lot of questions about them. They got Joe Brady and his new head coach. I think Josh Allen is the one quarterback who can maybe run through Will Anderson. So I think it's going to be a great classic opening week game, but I think Josh Allen wins the game in the final minute. And this is the biggest test for their defense because this is like you said, the one quarterback who doesn't care about the pressure because he can run through it. All right, real quick, time for the feel good. What happened in sports that makes you feel good? This one for us. Here we go. Here's the feel good. We're going back to Melbourne. Of course.
